if it was then my answer is basically: sure it would be cool

I am also a sucker for your top 10 worldbuilding posts so here's another one: top 10 times the media got some TMI on Victor and Yuuri's relationship (and does it include Victor drunkenly revealing they switch to tabloids and Chris' speech at the wedding about where they've done the nasty?)

The wedding was strictly family and friends only so Chris’ speech never got made public (Yuuri would have died if it did!) but there have been several incidents where the media learned a lot more about Viktor and Yuuri than they ever expected.

Top 10 Times The Media Got Some TMI On Victor and Yuuri’s Relationship:

10) Once - when Yuuri was competing in the Four Continents and Viktor was on the side-lines to cheer him on - during the warm up Yuuri was practicing his quad flip over and over to make sure he got it right while Viktor was doing an interview at the side of the rink and the reporter sort of offhandedly mentioned ‘oh, Katsuki has been doing jumps for a while now and he doesn’t even look tired, I guess it must be true that he has really good stamina’ and Viktor just went really dreamy eyed and said ‘yes’ while completely ignoring the interviewer and gazing at Yuuri. And the reporter and the camera man just ended up looking at each other like ‘should we finish the interview or just let him keep daydreaming about his sex life?’

9) During the season after the end of chapter 14 Viktor’s exhibition skate was the Stay Close To Me duet and afterwards one of the reporters asked Yuuri ‘were you ever concerned about doing the lifts during the routine? Were you sure Nikiforov was going to be able to hold your weight or were you worried he might drop you?’. And Yuuri was just like ‘No, I had faith in him and we already knew he could lift me up pretty easily anyway’ which he probably would have gotten away with if he hadn’t proceeded to go bright red afterwards when he realised what he’d said and everyone who watched it was like ‘we kind of really want to know but at the same time we probably really don’t.’

8) After Viktor finally retired he was doing a joint interview with Yuuri and one of the reporters asked him if he was concerned about maintaining his physical condition now that he wasn’t competing anymore because lots of athletes have a hard time adjusting once they stop such vigorous training regimes. And Viktor was just like, ‘I’m sure it won’t be a problem, I’ll still be getting some pretty intense regular exercise even if I’m not training anymore’ and winked at Yuuri and Yuuri started blushing really badly while all the reporters went into minor meltdowns

7) Once they ended up being caught by reporters a few days after Viktor’s birthday when they were out taking the dogs for a walk and it was mostly fine but one of the reporters asked Yuuri what he had given Viktor as a birthday present and they both went bright red and Yuuri sort of mumbled a hurried and fake sounding answer that probably wasn’t even in English and practically sprinted off. No-one ever found out exactly what Viktor’s ‘present’ was but there was a lot of speculation and the general consensus became that Yuuri Katsuki was probably a lot kinkier than anyone ever expected and Viktor Nikiforov was a very lucky guy.

6) This one came in a series of tweets from a fan who was in an upmarket hotel bar which basically consisted of, ‘oh my god Viktor Nikiforov is in the same bar as I am what should I do?’ ‘He’s sitting alone do you think I should go and talk to him? Would it be weird to ask for his autograph?’ ‘I wonder why Katsuki isn’t with him, it’s the off season I thought they’d be together’ ‘Oh my god I just noticed he isn’t wearing his ring what does this mean?’ ‘He just started to talk to a guy who sat down next to him and he’s being really flirty oh my god.’ ‘Is Viktor Nikiforov having an affair????’ ‘Help, red alert I’ve just seen Viktor Nikiforov in a bar chatting up some random guy without his ring on what do I do?’ ‘Oh wait a minute the guy he was talking to just turned around and it turns out it was actually Katsuki after all. Panic over.’ ‘Wait a minute Katsuki isn’t wearing his ring either, they can’t have both lost them at the same time can they?’ ‘They’re acting really weirdly though and they’re dressed differently too I’m confused but I don’t want to interrupt’ *several minutes pause* ‘Well something I definitely didn’t expect to happen tonight was finding out that Katsuki and Nikiforov are apparently into role play but you learn something new every day.’

5) After being apart for a long time during the skating season they finally reunited at an airport and it was all very dramatic and Viktor ended up kissing Yuuri really passionately for a really long time. And when they broke away Yuuri was like ‘that reminded me of our first kiss, after the competition in Saitama.’ And Viktor was like ‘I did a lot more than just kiss you then solnyshko’ being all sly and flirty and then they both sort of froze as they realised that A) they were in a very public airport which is not a good place to be heavily flirting even if you have been apart for several months and B ) Several people were not so discreetly filming them. And that was how the world learned exactly when and where Viktor and Yuuri got it on for the first time.

4) During the four continents after they first got together Viktor ended up doing the thing in he did in the anime where he tied Yuuri’s laces and kissed his skates while being there to support him. And at that point their public relationship was still only a few months old so while the reaction was mainly positive there were still some assholes who were salty about the whole thing including one trashy tabloid reporter who cornered Yuuri after his skate who was obviously a die-hard Viktor fan and didn’t like him or their relationship at all. And while Yuuri is usually quiet and shy and likes to keep as much about their relationship private as he can because he doesn’t want the world butting in, he also is absolutely savage when he wants to be and after going through so much to finally get together with Viktor he is not willing to take any shit from anyone. So the reporter was being really bitchy and asking questions like ‘don’t you think it’s a bit degrading to make Viktor Nikiforov get down on his knees for you?’ and Yuuri just really calmly said ‘not really, he likes it too much’, smiled and walked away. The video clip of it happening has several million views.

3) At one point Viktor and Yuuri were on the beach at Hasetsu and Viktor took a picture of Yuuri in his boxers (they had forgotten their swimming stuff but got too hot and went to cool off in the sea) and nothing else while laughing on the beach. And while 99.9% of the comments were all along the lines of ‘goddamn’, ‘please step on me’ and ‘Yuuri Katsuki with his shirt off is a gift to humanity’ there were a couple off assholes who were commenting on the stretch marks on Yuuri’s thighs. Because he was a naturally chubby kid with a lot of puppy fat and went from that to a lean athletic teenager in a very short space of time so he has them although they’re not that noticeable. And Viktor doesn’t usually care when people are rude to him online because there are always a few shitty people out there but it really pisses him off when someone insults Yuuri. So when someone tweeted him like ‘you’re really hot, why do you bother with someone with ugly stretch marks like Katsuki?’ he responds with ‘I love every part of my boyfriend including his marks. I especially like to kiss them every night when his thighs are wrapped round my head.’ which pretty much shut all the haters up there and then. Yuuri hit him with a pillow for it afterwards but he was secretly kind of pleased.

2) The day after one of the major competitions Yuuri was giving an interview and the interviewer asked ‘now that the competition is over has the tiredness set in yet and are you ready to go home or are you still riding high on the adrenaline from last night?’ and Chris, who happened to be walking past at that moment, was just like ‘well he was certainly riding something last night but it wasn’t the adrenaline.’ Yuuri’s expression after he said it became a popular reaction picture for when someone looks like they physically want to die of embarrassment.

1) The incident I mentioned in a previous ask where a tipsy Viktor ends up getting interviewed by a tabloid reporter when his tongue is looser than usual so when she asks ‘are you the top or the bottom in your relationship’ aka the question everyone else wanted to ask but was way too polite and respectful to, he just winked and said ‘why pick just one.’ And that was how the world found out that Viktor and Yuuri switch.

The Kissing Booth

A SnowBaz fanfiction

Simon

Once a year, usually in the spring, Watford stages a carnival for the students.  It’s usually quite humble, mainly consisting of booths selling small magic trinkets, or snacks like cotton candy, sweets and other classic carnival fare.  There’s always the tiny petting zoo over near the Cloisters, and some years Watford even scrapes enough together to bring in a carousel.  Most of the booths are run by student volunteers, and though everything is by donation, all proceeds go to whichever charity the student body has voted on.

I go every year, mostly for the caramel apples and sweet cider, but this is the first year I’ve been behind the scenes of the carnival and helped at a booth.

In truth, I didn’t even sign up for it, but Agatha hadn’t had a break all day and needed some cotton candy of her own.

I should have told her to find Penny, or Trixie or even Minty.  Anyone but me.

It doesn’t take long for the word to spread that Simon Snow has taken over the Kissing Booth, and mortifyingly the line has doubled in length.  Mostly first or second-year girls, blushing and stammering or swaggering up to the counter with a pronounced sway in their step, with the odd boy interspersed through the line.

It’s not the worst thing that’s ever happened to me – that honour goes to the time in second year that Baz stumbled upon a spell that made my clothes slowly dissipate, garment by garment, in the middle of the dining hall – and after the first two or three quick, cold kisses I start to calm down, but I’m counting the minutes until Agatha comes back.  How she endured hours of this, I cannot comprehend.  That’s just Agatha, I guess.

A redhead drops her donation into the tin and her eyes flit around, meeting me for only a split second at a time, her cheeks aflame.  I try to look as non-threatening as I can and lean forward enough that she can close the rest of the space.  She darts in with a kiss that’s no more than a peck before running over to a giggling pair of who must be her friends, a triumphant grin on her face. She must have been dared.  Poor girl.  I hope I wasn’t her first.

           “Well, well, well.”

My stomach lurches at the cold drawl I know only too well.

“What are you doing here, Baz?” I say in as civilized a tone as I can manage.

He stands there with his arms crossed over his chest, his mouth in a twist that’s a bit too amused to be a sneer.  “When I heard that the Chosen One had taken over the Snogging Booth, I simply had to see it for myself.”

“Well, now you’ve seen it, so now you can go.”

“Saving the World of Mages one kiss at a time,” Baz murmurs with a chuckle.  “Not exactly what I was envisioning.”

“I’m only covering for Agatha,” I retort, “she’ll be back in five minutes if you’re wanting her services.”

He scoffs.  “I’d rather not snog your girlfriend, thank you very much.”

“She’s not my – forget it,” I shake my head.  I’ve told him at least a dozen times, but it never stops him.

“She must have been really desperate for a break to put you in charge,” Baz drawls on, his voice smooth like honey but with too much of a bite to be sweet.  “You’d think she’d at least pick someone attractive for the Kissing Booth.”

It stings, but I don’t flinch.  “What, someone like you?” I spit back too fast.

His eyebrows shoot up in delighted surprise as I realize my mistake.  “You flatter me, Snow,” he purrs, and I feel my cheeks heat up, but I furrow my brow tighter and hope it passes for anger.

“Is there a reason you’re still here?” I growl as the burning spreads from my cheeks to my ears.

“As a matter of fact, there is,” Baz says, and his gray eyes look cool enough to staunch the flames at the tips of my ears, but the more I glare into them the more the fire rages.  “I’m here to torment you.”

           “Great, well you’ve done that.”

“I wanted to see what you’d do.”  He leans on the edge of the counter, bringing his face far too close to mine for comfort. “What would the Mage’s Heir do if his nemesis showed up at the Kissing Booth?”

“You can torment me any time,” I shoot back, “you’re holding up the line.”

“Oh, yes, well,” he feigns conern, “I wouldn’t want to keep anyone from their kiss.”

           “Then go away.”

His eyes narrow and he pretends to think.  “Mmm, no.  I don’t think so.”

           “Baz, I’m warning you.”

“Terrifying,” he drones, “but this is too much fun.  Besides,” his eyebrow flickers up, “don’t you owe me a kiss?”

I flash him a smirk of my own.  “Aw, Baz. If you were so desperate for a kiss, you could’ve just asked.”

Baz, to his credit, doesn’t bat an eye.  “You think of that comeback yourself?”

“There’s a fee, you know,” I ignore him, barely having to raise my voice above a murmur for him to hear me, he’s so close.  “You haven’t paid the fee, so I don’t owe you anything.”

He doesn’t drop his eyes from mine, and the cool gray takes on the spark of a challenge.  Out of my periphery I see him reach into his pocket, and there’s the clatter of coins dropping into the tin.

           I should punch him.

I should spit in his face.

I wanted to see what you’d do.

I take him by the lapels and crush his mouth under mine.

He makes a muffled sound of shock.  To be fair, so do I, but mine is more angry than it is surprised.  I kiss him hard and rough, and it’s a bit of a juxtaposition because his mouth is oddly soft.  A face like his, you’d expect his lips to be made of marble, cold and unmoving, but he’s the farthest thing from unmoving.  I can’t tell if he’s struggling or if he’s kissing me back but his lips are so, so soft and I want to bruise them, mark them, bite them…

I only stop when a series of wolf whistles reminds me that there are at least ten people watching us.

Trying to salvage the illusion of control, I break away harshly, still gripping him by his collar.  The cocky smirk has dropped from his smooth features and now his face mirrors mine, a matching scowl, like I’ve crossed a dangerous line.  I probably have.

“Was that what you wanted?” I growl.

He doesn’t answer, just holds my gaze another few seconds before pushing back from the table, his lapels slipping out of my hands, and stalking away.

***

I don’t see Baz at the carnival after that, and I stay as long as the booths are open, perusing the same counters and feigning interest even after having looked through their contents three times.  I keep Penny company where she mans the popcorn booth, drizzling caramel over every few cartons, and I even get bored enough to hang around Agatha back at the Kissing Booth for a little while, until one too many patrons have asked if I’m available for service.  When she and Penny are freed we pet the goats at the petting zoo, the ones that Ebb has graciously volunteered for the event, and take a few spins on the carousel.  Only once the light has begun to fade and the signs are being lowered from their booths do the three of us part ways.  Even then, I offer to help Ebb get her goats back safely.

Basically, I’m doing anything I can to put off going back to the room, but eventually I can’t avoid it any longer.  I’ve wandered the grounds enough times that the sun has properly disappeared behind the distant hills and I can barely see the ground in front of me. Even then I’m tempted to consider crazy alternatives like spending the night at Ebb’s place, but I’m pretty sure that would be against school rules anyway, and besides, I’ll have to face Baz eventually.  There’s no undoing what’s happened.

When I finally trudge back into the room, he’s staring out the window at the moat, presumably trying to intimidate the merwolves, but he turns at the sound of the door.  His expression, though I don’t see it for long before I look away, is hard to read. Wide eyes and a furrowed brow, like he’s still mad at me for my stunt earlier, but there’s a bit of a questioning edge there, too.  Almost a where were you edge.

Normally I have to start any type of conversation, but tonight he wastes no time. “What the hell was that, Snow?”

There’s no question as to what he’s referring, and I can’t help but get angry again.  “Me? You’re the one who had to start something!”

“Well, you didn’t have to react so drastically,” he mutters, crossing his arms and leaning against the wall by the window, the moonlight casting its glow on his skin and making him even paler than usual, almost transparent.  I half expect fangs to slide out from his lips for no reason and complete the picture.

           His soft, soft lips.

“You were egging me on,” I seethe, the memory igniting the rage that I’d felt in the fractured moment before kissing him, “it’s your fault anything happened.”

“Proud little hero,” Baz says with the slightest smirk, “can’t back down from a challenge.”

“You know I can’t, not in front of people.”

“Wouldn’t want them to think the Heir is a coward.”

I feel like a balloon in me is swelling and deflating at once.  “But that’s just it, Baz,” I insist, anger momentarily aside.  “If they think I’m afraid, what reason do they have to hope?”

He doesn’t answer right away, and for a second I think maybe he understands. I want so badly for him to understand.

“No reason,” Baz eventually says, turning to look out the window again, “not with someone like you as the Chosen One.”

I want to groan, to kick something, to shake him by the shoulders and make him look me in the eye and for once not fight me.  Have we ever in our lives made eye contact without there being some challenge between us?

“Why did you have to get in that line?” I shake my head.  “There are so many other ways of tormenting me, lower-stakes ways.”

“To be fair, I’ve already exhausted most of those,” Baz murmurs with a little shrug of his shoulders.

“When have you ever been fair?”

           “Touché.”

I’m tired of standing here at the door, so I kick off my shoes and sit down on my bed, trying not to think about how much closer I am to him now, still at the window, looking as vampiric as ever.  His gray eyes are positively silver in the moonlight, and the black of his hair looks silkier than ever, as if it’s soaking the rays directly into him. He almost glows.  I have to laugh a little, because more than once Baz has mockingly compared me, with my bronze curls and sky-blue eyes, to the sun, but he himself wears a halo of night.  If I am the sun, then Baz is most certainly the moon.  Distant, cold, mysterious, almost too pristine to touch.

His gaze returns to me suddenly.  He raises an eyebrow in a wordless inquiry, and I realize I’ve been staring.

“What exactly was it you expected me to do?”

“At what point, Snow?” he gives a humourless laugh.  “You had more than one opportunity to react.”

           “When you paid the fee.”

His tiny smile disappears.  “It doesn’t matter.”

           “It does.”

“Drop it, Snow,” he says, the hardness returning to his eyes, and I know I’ve cornered him.  Drop it is Baz’s way of betraying himself, of saying there’s something that he doesn’t want to tell.

“Was I supposed to kiss you?” I ask.  For some reason I have to know.

           “No.”

           “Then what?”

“I don’t know, Snow, punch me.  Push me. Beat me to the ground.  Something.”

My brow furrows in confusion.  “Wait. You wanted me to hit you?”

He shrugs, more with his head than his shoulder.  “One of us has to get hurt, right?”

I rise to my feet, and I’m face-to-face with him again, only his eyes are different this time.  Whereas at the booth he had betrayed no hint of doubt at our closeness, now there’s a flicker of something in the silver, something that feels a lot like the way my heart is racing in my chest, and it dawns on me.  He was putting on a show at the carnival, acting like nothing I could do would get to him, just as I had been.

If they think I’m afraid, what reason do they have to hope?

One of us has to get hurt, right?

           And suddenly it makes sense.

There’s only a few inches between us, so it feels almost natural when I lean in and press the gentlest of kisses to his lips.

He doesn’t kiss me back this time, but he doesn’t move away either.  “What was that for?” he asks when I draw back a second later.

“You act like we’re so different,” I say wonderingly, “but we’re the same.”

           “How?”

“What do you think we’d be if we didn’t have to fight each other?”

I don’t miss the split second of longing in his eyes.  “Keep dreaming, Snow.”

“Because I bet it would involve a lot more of this.”  I bring a hand up to his neck, my fingers instantly lost in the wavy tips of his hair and it’s exactly as soft as it looks bathed in moonlight.

Baz closes his eyes like he has to collect himself.  “You’re the hero.  I’m the villain.  What more do I have to say?”

“Fuck that,” I chuckle, “we both know that’s not true.  You’re a boy, and I’m a boy.  That’s all.”

“Tell that to the rest of the world.”

“I don’t care about the rest of the world,” I shake my head adamantly, “I want to know what you think.”

           “About what?”

“If there was no act, no reputation, no role to play,” I murmur, “if we were just two boys, what would you do?”

Baz returns my gaze a moment, searching my eyes.

Then his lashes close and he’s kissing me, and my eyes drift shut again like I’m sighing in relief.

I let my fingers tangle higher up in his hair while my other hand grips the front of his shirt like earlier, only without the anger of the afternoon.  He angles his head further and guides the kiss deeper, his hands gently gripping my waist and pulling me closer.  I melt against him, my mouth moving with his, my head swimming with his citrusy scent, and I can’t hold back the moan that escapes my throat when he takes my bottom lip between his teeth in a gentle tug. Suddenly I’m floating, weightless, and Baz gives a muffled sound of surprise when I press back a little harder.

When we finally break apart, both of us gasping and dizzy, I immediately want more, want to line his neck with my mouth, want to feel his breath hitch when I reach the base of his throat, want to hear my name in his sigh.  Would he sigh Snow or Simon?  I want to know.

“Please,” I whisper, dotting a kiss to the corner of his mouth, “can’t we just be two boys?”

When I meet his eyes, they’re full of more longing than ever.

In response, he kisses a soft, slow triangle pattern on my cheek, and I recognize the pattern of the three moles by my eye, and I can’t help but smile.

“We can try.”

anonymous asked:

Do you think they're going to end up killing Shiro just like in the original?

I really don’t, and my answer has surprisingly little to do with how much I like Shiro and am rooting for him. I have a lot of thoughts on this so I’m going to break them into categories.

This turned into a monster of a post, but, hopefully that’ll help people sleep at night a little better?

Glitter Ball

I’ve been seeing some discussion in past few days about how unrealistic it is that Bitty doesn’t hang out with other queer kids at Samwell, which is a valid point, and it reminded me I had a fic languishing in my drafts folder that involved an expanded look at the LGBTQIA group on campus, so I figured maybe the time had come to post it. It’s more about Dex than Bitty, because I started it as a response to the “Dex is homophobic” discourse, so this is from a “Dex has never been straight, he just doesn’t think it’s any of your business” perspective.

(It’s the beginning of a longer fic called “I Abhor You/I Adore You” that’s kind of an exercise in filling in all the gaps between the Nurseydex tweets and fleshing out the non-hockey parts of Samwell, but who knows if I’ll ever finish it.)

~4.5k, pre-slash Nurseydex, mostly Dex POV, guest appearances by Bitty, Holster, and a few OCs from the LGBTQIA group. Location of the IT helpdesk across the hall from the resource center entirely stolen from my own tiny liberal arts school, “the little gay college in the middle of Iowa.”

Read it on AO3 (now with the second chapter as well).

First year, first semester

Dex got a job with the helpdesk almost as soon as he got to campus. This wasn’t exactly normal for an unknown, untested, untried, and undeclared first year student, but he had references from his high school job and there was a constant shortage of people who actually knew how to do anything with hardware. Which, of course, was the thing most of the professors actually needed help with. They weren’t actually receiving a lot of emergency Python coding calls; they needed someone who could “make the goddamn printer talk to the computer” without pissing anyone off by being too condescending.

He enjoyed it; compared to having to do the same thing in a retail environment, this was downright relaxing, and he at least had some confidence the people he was helping weren’t complete idiots. He could even leave behind a Post-It of step-by-step instructions of how to fix the problem themselves next time and have it be followed at least 50% of the time! Not to mention his work-study hours as a student athlete were actually capped and enforced so he wouldn’t work himself to death. So relaxing when compared to high school, when he’d had to juggle IT work, lobster fishing, hockey, and grades good enough to get some kind of scholarship.

Since he’d gotten to campus early to start pre-season practice with the hockey team, he’d been able to establish a work routine before adding in classes, which had been helpful. The CS classes at Samwell were certainly more demanding, but that was why he was here, wasn’t it? All in all, he was pretty satisfied with how things were shaping up. (Now if only his d-partner weren’t such an entitled brat…)

Once the other students got back to campus, it became clear the helpdesk office wasn’t the only thing housed in the weird little building at the edge of campus. He was just ending a shift when a girl stuck her head in the door. “Would it be possible to get some quick help from anybody? It’s just across the hall.”

“I can do it,” Dex said. “I was just about to leave anyway.”

“Thank you!” She led the way into what appeared to be an all-purpose meeting room. The door now had a handmade rainbow sign taped to it, proclaiming it the Stonewall Resource Center. “We’re having our first meeting of the year tonight, and of course the one person who remembers how to work the projector is on study abroad this semester.”

“No problem. You hooking it up to a laptop?”

“Yeah.”

Dex walked over to the AV podium at the front of the room and fished out the giant cluster of cables and dongles. “Hopefully one of these will work, but we have adapters in the office for just about anything. Bring it over.” A minute or so later, he had everything working.

“Thank you so much!”

“Sure. I mean, it’s my job anyway.”

“Do I need to file a ticket or something?”

“Eh, whatever.”

“Um, you’re welcome to stay for the meeting if you want…”

“What’s it for? I mean, I can guess, but your sign wasn’t even up when I came in at the beginning of my shift, so, you know.”

“Yeah, basically it’s just a beginning of the year informational meeting for students about LGBTQIA resources on campus and a way to get those of us who are returning students to get started organizing other events. So maybe not super interesting.”

“No, it sounds like good information to have. I’ll stick around.”

She smiled at him. “Great! I’m Sam.”

“Will. Or Dex. I answer to either.”

“Nice to meet you.”

***

“So do you think you’ll come back?” Sam asked after the meeting was over. Dex had stayed to help her turn off the projector and leave a sticky note with the steps written down. (He was thinking about getting a set custom-printed with “Helping You Help Yourself!” across the bottom, though he suspected his boss would find this too snarky.)

“Probably not. I mean, not to regular meetings or anything—you can totally ask me for help anytime! I’m just kind of… past the place where I need this kind of group? And I’ve got hockey practice and CS classes that are kind of the point of my being here, so they take priority, you know?”

“Sure thing.”

“But you know where to find me! Seriously, I’m always happy to help. It looks like a great group. But I know I can’t commit to anything.”

“Cool. I’ll see you around then, yeah? Oh, hey, if you have any time on Friday, you should come to the softball game. We’re gonna slay.”

Dex grinned and offered his fist for a bump of solidarity. “You’ll have to come to a hockey game once the season starts.”

“Definitely.”

Full Esquire Interview - CHRIS EVANS IS READY TO FIGHT

“HIS SUCCESS AS CAPTAIN AMERICA HAS MADE CHRIS EVANS ONE OF HOLLYWOOD’S SURE THINGS, WHICH MEANS HE CAN DO WHATEVER HE WANTS WITH HIS FREE TIME. SO WHY JUMP OUT OF AIRPLANES AND GET INTO IT WITH DAVID DUKE?

BY MAXIMILLIAN POTTERMAR 15, 2017

The Canadian commandos are the first to jump. Our plane reaches an altitude of about eight thousand feet; the back door opens. Although it’s a warm winter day below in rural southern California, up here, not so much. In whooshes freezing air and the cold reality that this is actually happening. Out drop the eight commandos, all in black-and-red camouflage, one after the other. For them it’s a training exercise, and Jesus, these crazy bastards are stoked. The last Canuck to exit into the nothingness is a freakishly tall stud with a crew cut and a handlebar mustache; just before he leaps, he flashes a smile our way. Yeah, yeah, we get it: You’re a badass.

Moments later, the plane’s at ten thousand feet, and the next to go are a Middle Eastern couple in their late thirties. These two can’t wait. They are ecstatic. Skydiving is clearly a thing for them. Why? I can’t help thinking. Is it like foreplay? Do they rush off to the car after landing and get it on in the parking lot? They give us the thumbs-up and they’re gone.

Just like that, we’re at 12,500 feet and it’s our turn. Me and Chris Evans, recognized throughout the universe as the star of the Marvel-comic-book-inspired Captain America and Avengers movies. The five films in the series, which began in 2011 with Captain America: The First Avenger, have grossed more than $4 billion.

The two of us, plus four crew members, are the only ones left in the back of the plane. Over the loud drone of the twin propellers, one of the crew members shouts, "Okay, who’s going first?”

Evans and I are seated on benches opposite each other. Neither of us answers. I look at him; he looks at me. I feel like I’ve swallowed a live rat. Evans is over there, all Captain America cool, smiling away.

While we were waiting to board the plane, Evans told me that as he lay in bed the night before, “I started exploring the sensation of ‘What if the chute doesn’t open?’. . .”

Oh, did you now?

“. . .Those last minutes where you know.” As in you know you’re going to fatally splat. “You’re not gonna pass out; you’re gonna be wide awake. So what? Do I close my eyes? Hopefully, it would be quick. Lights out. I fucking hope it would be quick. And then I was like, if you’re gonna do it, let’s just pretend there is no way this is going to go wrong. Just really embrace it and jump out of that plane with gusto.” Evans also shared that he’d looked up the rate of skydiving fatalities. “It’s, like, 0.006 fatalities per one thousand jumps. So I figure our odds are pretty good.”

Again the crew member shouts, “Who’s going first?”

Again I look at Evans; again he looks at me. The rat is running circles in my belly.

I look at Evans; he looks at me.

Another crew member asks, “So whose idea was this, anyway?”

That’s an excellent question.

I ask Evans the same thing when we first meet, the evening before our jump, at his house. He lives atop the Hollywood Hills, in a modern-contemporary ranch in the center of a Japanese-style garden. The place has the vibe of an L.A. meditation retreat—there’s even a little Buddha statue on the front step.

The dude who opens the front door is in jeans, a T-shirt, and Nikes; he has on a black ball cap with the NASA logo, and his beard is substantial enough that for a second it’s hard to be sure this is the same guy who plays the baby-faced superhero. Our handshake in the doorway is interrupted when his dog rockets toward my crotch. Evans is sorry about that.

We do the small-talk thing. Evans is from a suburb of Boston, one of four kids raised by Dad, a dentist, and Mom, who ran a community theater. The point is, he’s a Patriots fan, and with Super Bowl LI, between the Pats and the Falcons, just a few days away at the time, it’s about the only thing on his mind. You bet your Sam Adams–guzzling ass he’s going to the game in Houston. “Oh my God,” he says, doing a little dance. “I can’t believe it’s this weekend.”

Like any self-respecting Pats fan, Evans is super-wicked pissed at NFL commissioner Roger Goodell.

Evans won’t be rolling to SB LI with a posse of Beantown-to-Hollywood A-listers like Mark Wahlberg, Matt Damon, and Ben Affleck. For the record, he’s never met Damon, and his only interaction with Wahlberg was a couple years ago at a Patriots event. Evans has, however, humiliated himself in front of Affleck.

Around 2006, Evans met with Affleck to talk about Gone Baby Gone, which Affleck was directing. Evans was walking down a hallway, looking for the room where they were supposed to meet. Walking by an open office, he heard Affleck, in that thick Boston accent of his, shout, “There he is!” (Evans does a perfect Affleck impersonation.)

By then, Evans had hit the big time for his turn as the Human Torch, Johnny Storm, in 2005’s Fantastic Four, but he still got starstruck. As he tells it, “First thing I say to him: 'Am I going to be okay where I parked?’ He was like, 'Where did you park?’ I said, 'At a meter.’ And he was like, 'Did you put money in the meter?’ And I said, 'Yep.’ And he says, 'Well, I think you’ll be okay.’ I was like, this is off to a great fucking start.” Stating the obvious here: Evans did not get the part.

No, Evans will be heading to the Super Bowl with his brother and three of his closest buddies. Like any self-respecting Pats fan, Evans is super-wicked pissed at NFL commissioner Roger Goodell for imposing that suspension on Tom Brady for Deflategate. Grabbing two beers from a fridge that’s otherwise basically empty, Evans says, “I just want to see Goodell hand the trophy to Brady. Goodell. Piece of shit.”

In Evans’s living room, there’s not a single hint of his Captain Americaness. Earth tones, tables that appear to be made of reclaimed wood. Open. Uncluttered. Glass doors open onto a backyard with a stunning view of the Hills. Evans stretches out on one of two couches. I take the other and ask, “Just whose idea was it to jump?” Since we both know whose idea it wasn’t, we both know that what I’m really asking is Why? Why, dude, do you want to jump (with me) from a goddamn airplane? “Yeah,” he says, popping open his beer, “I don’t know what I was thinking.”

Settling in on the couch, he groans. Evans explains that he’s hurting all over because he just started his workout routine the day before to get in shape for the next two Captain America films. The movies will be shot back to back beginning in April. After that, no more red- white-and-blue costume for the thirty-five-year-old. He will have fulfilled his contract.

“Yeah,” he says, popping open his beer, “I don’t know what I was thinking.”

Back in 2010, Marvel presented Evans with a nine-picture deal. He insisted he’d sign on for no more than six. Some family members thought he was nuts to dial back such a secure and lucrative gig. Evans saw it differently.

It takes five months to shoot a Marvel movie, and when you tack on the promotional obligations for each one, well, shit, man. Evans knew that for as long as he was bound to Captain America, he would have little time to take on other projects. He wanted to direct, he wanted to play other characters—roles that were more human—like the lead in Gifted, which will hit theaters this month. The script had brought him to tears. Evans managed to squeeze the movie in between Captain America and Avengers films.

FOX Searchlight

In Gifted, Evans stars as Frank Adler. You don’t get much more human than Adler, a grease-under-his-nails boat-engine mechanic living the bachelor life in Florida. After a series of tragic circumstances, Adler becomes a surrogate father to his niece, Mary, a first-grader with the IQ of Einstein. He recognizes that Mary is a little genius, and he does his best to prevent anyone else from noticing. Given the aforementioned circumstances, Adler has witnessed what can happen when a kid with a brilliant mind is pushed too hard too quickly. Then along comes Mary’s teacher. She discovers the child’s gift, and a Kramer vs. Kramer–esque drama ensues.

During a moment in the film when things aren’t going Adler’s way, he sarcastically refers to himself as a “fucking hero.” Evans says the line didn’t lead him to make comparisons between superhero Steve Rogers (aka Captain America) and Everyman hero Frank Adler. But now that you mention it . . .

“With Steve Rogers,” Evans says, “even though you’re on a giant movie with a huge budget and strange costumes, you’re still on a hunt for the truth of the character.” That said, “with Adler, it’s nice to play someone relatable. I think Julianne Moore said, 'The audience doesn’t come to see you; they come to see themselves.’ Adler is someone you can hold up as a mirror for someone in the audience. They’ll be able to far more easily identify with Frank Adler than Steve Rogers.”

Dodger. That’s the name of Evans’s dog, the one who headbutted my nuts and has since done a marvelous job of making amends by nuzzling against me on the couch. Evans got him while he was filming Gifted; one of the last scenes was shot in an animal shelter in Georgia. Evans had wanted a dog ever since his last pooch died in 2012. Then he found himself walking the aisles of this pound, and there was this mixed-breed boxer, wagging his tail and looking like he belonged with Evans.

Dodger is not exactly a name you’d think a die-hard Boston sports fan would pick. His boys from back home have given him a ton of shit over it. But he has not abandoned his Red Sox for the L.A. team. As a kid, he loved the Disney animated movie Oliver & Company, and his favorite character was Dodger. Anticipating the grief he was going to get from his pals, Evans considered other names. “You could name your dog Doorknob,” he says, “and in a month he’s fucking Doorknob.” Evans’s mom convinced him to go with his gut.

Right around when Evans was wrapping Gifted and heading back to L.A. with Dodger, the 2016 presidential campaign was still in that phase when no one, including the actor—a Hillary Clinton supporter—thought Trump had a shot. He still can’t believe Trump won.

“I feel rage,” he says. “I feel fury. It’s unbelievable. People were just so desperate to hear someone say that someone is to blame. They were just so happy to hear that someone was angry. Hear someone say that Washington sucks. They just want something new without actually understanding. I mean, guys like Steve Bannon—Steve Bannon!—this man has no place in politics.”

Evans has made, and continues to make, his political views known on Twitter. He tweeted that Trump ought to “stop energizing lies,” and he recently ended up in a heated Twitter debate with former KKK leader David Duke over Trump’s pick of Jeff Sessions for attorney general. Duke baselessly accused Evans of being anti-Semitic; Evans encouraged Duke to try love: “It’s stronger than hate. It unites us. I promise it’s in you under the anger and fear.” Making political statements and engaging in such public exchanges is a rather risky thing for the star of Captain America to do. Yes, advisors have said as much to him. “Look, I’m in a business where you’ve got to sell tickets,” he says. “But, my God, I would not be able to look at myself in the mirror if I felt strongly about something and didn’t speak up. I think it’s about how you speak up. We’re allowed to disagree. If I state my case and people don’t want to go see my movies as a result, I’m okay with that.”

Trump. Bannon. Politics. Now Evans is animated. He gets off the couch, walks out onto his porch, and lights a cigarette. “Some people say, 'Don’t you see what’s happening? It’s time to yell,' ” Evans says. “Yeah, I see it, and it’s time for calm. Because not everyone who voted for Trump is going to be some horrible bigot. There are a lot of people in that middle; those are the people you can’t lose your credibility with. If you’re trying to change minds, by spewing too much rhetoric you can easily become white noise.”

Evans has a pretty remarkable “How I got to Hollywood” story.

During his junior year of high school, he knew he wanted to act. He was doing it a lot. In school. At his mom’s theater. He loved it. “When you’re doing a play at thirteen years old and have opening night? None of my friends had opening nights. 'I can’t have a sleepover, guys; I have an opening night tonight.' ”

That same year, he did a two-man play. For all of the twenty-plus plays Evans had done up to that point, preparation meant going home, memorizing lines, and doing a few run-throughs with the cast. However, for this play, Fallen Star, he and his costar would rehearse by running dialogue with each other. Hour upon hour, night after night.

Fallen Star is about two friends, one of whom has just died. As the play opens, one of the characters comes home after the funeral to find his dead friend’s ghost. Evans was the ghost. Waiting backstage on opening night, he knew he didn’t have every line memorized, but he had the essence and emotion of the play down. Onstage, he remembers, “I was saying the lines not because they were memorized but because the play was in me. I was believing what I was saying.”

He was hooked. He wanted to do more of this kind of acting—real acting. He wanted to do films, in which the camera was right on him and he could just be the character, rather than theater, in which an actor must perform to the back of the room.

A family friend who was a television actor advised Evans that if he wanted to go to Hollywood, he needed an agent. Toward the end of his junior year, he had a ballsy request for his parents: If he found an internship with a casting agent in New York City, would they allow him to live there and cover the rent? They agreed. Evans landed a gig with Bonnie Finnegan, who was then working on the television show Spin City.

“I just fucked off. I lost my virginity that year. 1999 was one of the best years of my life.” Until it wasn’t.

Evans chose to intern with a casting agent because he figured he had more of a chance to interact with other agents trying to get auditions for their clients.

The kid was sixteen years old.

Finnegan put Evans on the phone; his responsibilities included setting up appointments for auditions. By the end of the summer, he picked the three agents he had the best rapport with and asked each of them to give him a five-minute audition. All three said yes. After seeing his audition, all three were interested.

Evans went with the one Finnegan recommended, Bret Adams, who told Evans to return to New York for auditions in January, television pilot season. Back home, Evans doubled up on a few classes the first semester of his senior year, graduated early, and went back to New York in January. He got the same shithole apartment in Brooklyn and the same internship with Finnegan. He landed a part on the pilot Opposite Sex. Even better, the show got picked up and would start shooting in L.A. that fall.

“I know I’m going to L.A. in August,” Evans says, recalling that period. “So I go home and that spring I would wake up around noon, saunter into high school just to see my buddies, and we’d go get high in the parking lot. I just fucked off. I lost my virginity that year. 1999 was one of the best years of my life.” Until it wasn’t.

He wasn’t in L.A. for even a month when he got a call from home. His parents were divorcing. Evans never saw it coming.

Family and love and the struggles therein are part of what attracted Evans to Gifted.

“In my own life, I have a deep connection with my family and the value of those bonds,” he says. “I’ve always loved stories about people who put their families before themselves. It’s such a noble endeavor. You can’t choose your family, as opposed to friends. Especially in L.A. You really get to see how friendships are put to the test; it stirs everyone’s egos. But if something goes south with a friend, you have the option to say we’re not friends anymore. Your family—that’s your family. Trying to make that system work and trying to make it not just functional but actually enjoyable is a really challenging endeavor, and that’s certainly how it is with my family.”

the plane, a decision is made.

“I want to see you jump first,” Evans shouts my way.

Of course he does.

Like any respectable and legal skydiving center, Skydive Perris, which is providing us with this “experience,” doesn’t just strap a chute on your back. First, you go to a room for a period of instruction. Then you go to another room, where you sign away your rights.

You may be wondering how the star of a billion-dollar franchise with two pictures to shoot gets clearance to jump from an airplane—never mind the low rate of fatalities, as Evans has presented it. So am I.

“Well, they give you all these crazy insurance policies, but even if I die, what are they going to do? Sue my family? They’d probably cast some new guy at a cheaper price and save some money.”

Thinking the answer is almost certainly going to be no, I ask Evans if he’s ever gone skydiving before. Turns out he has, with an ex-girlfriend. Turns out that ex-girlfriend is now married to Justin Timberlake. Evans and Jessica Biel dated off and on from 2001 to 2006. They took the leap together when Biel hatched the idea for one Valentine’s Day. According to media accounts, Evans was recently dating his Gifted costar Jenny Slate, who plays the teacher. “Yeah,” he says, “but I’m steering clear of those questions.” You can almost feel his heart pinch.

“There’s a certain shared life experience that is tough for someone else who’s not in this industry to kind of wrap their head around.”

We end up broadly discussing the unique challenges an international star like Evans faces when it comes to dating, specifically the trust factor. Evans supposes that’s why so many actors date other actors: “There’s a certain shared life experience that is tough for someone else who’s not in this industry to kind of wrap their head around,” he says. “Letting someone go to work with someone for three months and they won’t see them. It really, it certainly puts the relationship to the test.”

In Gifted, there’s a moment when Slate’s character asks Adler what his greatest fear is. Frank Adler’s greatest fear is that he’ll ruin his niece’s life. Evans’s greatest fear is having regrets.

“Like always kind of wanting to be there as opposed to here. I think I’m worried all of a sudden I’ll get old and have regrets, realize that I’ve not cultivated enough of an appreciation for the now and surrendering to the present moment.”

Evans’s musings have something to do with the fact that he has been reading The Surrender Experiment. “It’s about the basic notion that we are only in a good mood when things are going our way,” he says. “The truth is, life is going to unfold as it’s going to unfold regardless of your input. If you are an active participant in that awareness, life kind of washes over you, good or bad. You kind of become Teflon a little bit to the struggles that we self-inflict.”

He continues: “Our conscious minds are very spread out. We worry about the past. We worry about the future. We label. And all of that stuff just makes us very separate. What I’m trying to do is just quiet it down. Put that brain down from time to time and hope those periods of quiet and stillness get longer. When you do that, what rises from the mist is a kind of surrendering. You’re more connected as opposed to being separate. A lot of the questions about destiny or fate or purpose or any of that stuff—it’s not like you get answers. You just realize you didn’t need the questions.”

This here—this stuff about surrendering, letting life unfold, taking the leap—this is why he wanted to go skydiving. It’s why that sixteen-year-old took the leap and did the summer in New York; it’s why he took the leap and turned down the nine-picture deal; it’s why he got Dodger. Surrender. Take the leap.

And so I go first.

Oh, one important detail: Novice jumpers like Evans and me, we don’t jump solo. Thank God. Each of us is doing a tandem jump. Each of us is strapped with our back to a professional jumper’s front. I’m strapped to a forty-four-year-old dude named Paul. Considering what’s about to happen, I figure I should know a little something about Paul. He tells me he used to own a bar in Chicago. Evans is strapped to a young woman named Sam, who looks to be twenty-something. She’s got a purplish-pink streak in her black hair and says things like “badass.” In fact, Sam introduced herself  by saying, “I’m Sam, but you can call me Badass.”

At the plane’s open door, my mind goes to my wife and two teenage sons, to those I love, and to the texts I just sent in case my chute fails. Then Paul and I—well, really mostly Paul—rock gently back and forth to build momentum to push away from the plane, to push away from all that seems sane.

Three.

Two.

One.

Holy fuck.

HOLY FUCK. This is what I scream as we free-fall from 12,500 feet, at more than a hundred miles an hour, toward the earth. Which I cannot take my eyes off of. I think about nothing. Not living. Not dying. Nothing. I simply feel . . . I have let go.

Suddenly, it all stops. I’m jerked up. Paul has pulled the chute, and it does indeed open. This is fantastic, because it means we have a much better chance of not dying. But it’s also kind of a bummer. I had let go. Of everything. I had chosen to play those odds Evans had talked about. I had embraced jumping and letting life unfold.

Now I had been jerked back. I would land. Back on the earth I had been so high above and from which I had been so far removed. Back in all of it.

Once I’m on the ground, safe and in one piece, a staffer runs over and asks how I feel. I say, “I feel like Captain America.”

The staffer runs over and asks Evans the same question. He says he feels great. Then he’s asked another question: What was your favorite part?

“Jumping out,” he says. “Jumping out is always a real thrill.”

This article appears in the April '17 issue of Esquire.

A thing you probably don’t know about me is that sometimes I get in this mood where I don’t want to do anything but spend every spare moment binge-watching House, M.D. for several days at a time. I was on ep 2.15, “Clueless,” AKA that one where Wilson crashes at House’s place for a while, when inspiration struck and this Sterek drabble happened. Or… It’s almost 2k words, so maybe it’s a bit more than a drabble, BUT it’s still a drabble in spirit. (Rated T.)

It’s almost midnight when Derek finally shoulders on his coat, locks his office door, and steps out, only to spot Stiles crouched in front of the vending machine at the end of the hall, whacking the glass with the heel of his palm and muttering darkly.

Derek can’t just ignore him; he never can. (It’s a bit of a problem, and everyone in the hospital seems to know it, except for Stiles.) Before he knows it, he’s changed tracks and walked right over. “What are you still doing here?”

Stiles sits back on his heels to look up at him. “Bob ate my dollar and I’m feeling petty so I’m trying to get it back.”

“Bob?” Derek asks, a split second before he remembers that Stiles named the vending machine. It’s just this kind of thing that makes Derek feel guilty for sometimes looking at Stiles’ mouth a little too long, or pausing to let his eyes follow Stiles’ progress down the hall. Stiles isn’t a kid or anything, but he’s still only 26 to Derek’s 32, and he’s still got a year of residency to go. A lot of times, like when he’s jamming out to his iPod while he looks over lab work or doing stupid stuff like naming the vending machines, he seems to Derek more like a college kid than a grown man with a medical license and a house and a girlfriend.

Stiles goes back to hitting the vending machine, and Derek remembers why he originally came over here. “Didn’t your shift end at 7?”

Stiles smirks up at him, and Derek tries very, very hard not to imagine him making that same face in certain… other contexts. “What, you got my schedule memorized now, Dr. Hale? I’m flattered.”

It would make Derek’s life a lot easier if so much of what Stiles said didn’t come out sounding so flirtatious. Derek crosses his arms over his chest. “You’re deflecting.”

  • and when her boobs just hurt she’s like “why. why me. i’m just trying to live my life”
  • she doesn’t even have boobs that are that big and she wears sport bras most of the time but sometimes during practice they bounce and she just wants them to s t o p
  • to hunk: i don’t want my boobs anymore you can have them
hunk: pretty sure that’s not how this works
  • pidge never goes bra shopping like properly like she probably isn’t wearing the right size but the bra fits well enough and doesn’t pinch and she’s not spending any more time on these expensive fabric cups that society demands she wears
  • society sucks ass
  • so do boobs
  • one day lance is like “i’m like 90% sure shiro has bigger boobs than you” and pidge is like “good. he can share my suffering”
    • shiro: i’m always suffering
  • those days where you just have to grab your boobs as you’re running up the stairs or something? yeah. pidge hates those days and swears aggressively as she wraps her arms around herself
  • she loves wearing huge oversized sweatshirts but she especially loves it because she can go braless and no one will know
    • also for your consideration: the extra lazy days where she literally just wears a sports bra and a sweatshirt and no shirt
  • lance: do you ever just. hold your own boob
  • pidge: do you ever just punch yourself in the face
  • one day she’s bored and particularly annoyed at her boobs and she’s just like. an a cup for awful a, b cup for bothersome, c cup for cursed, d cup for dreadful—
  • she mostly lives in sports bras but there are a lot of days where she’s like “…what if i didn’t”
    • the answer is nothing would happen. she’s in space. no one cares. she can just go braless. it’s a freeing day when she realizes that
  • they’re just laying around one day and she sits up suddenly and is like “does space even have bras”
    • it does. or at least, alteans do
    • both her and lance are disappointed when space bras aren’t anything special and are basically the same as earth bras
    • lance takes every opportunity afterward to say “cool starry bra” when it’s relevant
      • because stars. and space. starry bra. it’s funny
  • she is so jealous of aliens that don’t have breasts like how is this fair
  • pidge loves her armor because her boobs are out of the way for once and it’s so nice
  • she’s just like “what is even the POINT of you!!” most of the time and like. she knows but still. what’s the point
  • pidge is just very frustrated with her boobs

Request: Hello I was wondering if you could do an imagine or whatever you prefer to call it where the reader is studying and Peter is attention deprived and is being distracting and all touchy and super cute w reader and it ends up super fluffy and stuff

A/N: I’m taking like a two second break from the Drabble Challenge prompts and writing this. I hope it turns out good.

Peter was distracting enough as is, but when he’s purposefully being distracting, it’s almost unbearable.

Your room went silent, and suspicion crept up your spine. But none the less, you remain focused and attentive to your homework. Peter was currently somewhere in your apartment, not making a sound, which was extremely unusual.

You felt a tug at a few strands of your hair. Choosing to ignore it, you kept your head down and eyes fixated on the pages in front of you. The slight yanking returned, but more strands of hair were added, “Peter,” you groaned and spun your head around, only to find that no one was there. You were the only person in your room. You sighed and tried to let go of the uneasy feeling in your gut.

  • and he’s like “c’mon you can get it!” and you’re like JUNGKOOK DONT MAKE ME KICK YOU IN THE SHIN
  • and he’s like hmmm would you and you’re like “try me-”
  • but before you can take a step closer he steps back,,,,,,but ends up pinned against the shelf and you put up your hand to get the book, using your other hand to balance yourself against jungkook’s broad chest
  • and you don’t even notice you’re touching him until you lean forward and lose a bit of balance and you fall forward just a bit until you’re literally in jungkooks arms and he slowly puts the book down
  • those wide eyes,,,,,looking at you and you swallowing the dryness in your throat
  • and the book escapes your thoughts as you focus on jungkook’s lips and how you hadn’t noticed how cute his facial features are up close
  • and how maybe you’re inching toward kissing him and jungkook isn’t budging,,,,,eyelashes fluttering closed
  • and it,,,,,it almost happens,,,,but then you hear the door bang open and you two jump apart as another volunteer tells you that it’s lunch time
  • and you and jungkook are both blushing sooooo red that the volunteer is like “damn did the dust get to you????”
  • but when he leaves you kind of peek over at jungkook who has his hands over his lips and looks like he’s burning up
  • and you think he looks super cute so you can’t help it you reach over to take the book from his hands, put it back on the desk, and lace your fingers with his
  • and jungkook damn near has a heart attack,,,because oh,,,hand holding,,,,,
  • and you’re like “jungkook,,,this is the step before kissing,,,,we should start here?”
  • and he’s at a loss for words all he can do is nod in agreement as you lead him out of the room
  • and jungkook is pretty sure you’re teasing him because you were totally gonna kiss him just now but everytime he tries to bring it up at lunch he keeps almost choking on his food poor boy,,,,,,
  • you two will get to it soon though hehehe slow and steady wins the race jeon jungkook~~~

“You know, for someone who’s seen me naked, I’m a little uncomfortable at how much you try to act like you’re my father.” You snapped, walking through your house, gathering the stuff you’d need for your day trip.

“Y/N, you know I’d never try to control you. I’m just … worried about having you over there. Where I can’t reach you.” Jasper followed behind you.

You sighed. Jessica had invited you to La Push for the day, and Jasper had basically asserted that you were not going to go. He was bothered by the fact that he couldn’t go with you and protect you. And probably slightly bothered by the fact that you’d be hanging out with boys from school. Mostly, though, he worried about the Quileute pack making an appearance.

“Bella’s going too, you and Edward can suffer together.” You said, throwing sun screen and a towel into your tote bag. You felt yourself calming down, and turned around. “Can you please not do that?”

Jasper’s lips twitched. “It’s a habit.”

“Well quit it. I’m angry at you. Take it like a man.” You said, a hint of humor in your voice as you turned around, making your way to the bathroom and shutting the door behind you so that you could change into a bathing suit. He was still standing there when you came out.

“They’re animals.” Jasper said. “And even worse, they’re teenage boys.”

You heard the dryness in his voice but you could see the worry in his expression. He truly didn’t want you to go.

“Mostly, though, they’re just teenage boys. And I can handle those.” You said, grabbing his hands. “Jess and Angela and Bella are gonna be there too, okay? And Mike and Eric.”

Jasper rolled his eyes. “Mike and Eric couldn’t protect you from a pack of guinea pigs.”  You snorted, but softened when he wrapped his arms around you from behind. “They’ll be able to smell me on you. If you got hurt, I don’t know what I would do.”

You turned to face him, wrapping your arms around his neck and pressing your lips to his. “I’ll be careful.” You said, putting one hand on his cheek, fingers brushing over his sharp jawline. “I’ll text you. I’ll stay with people I know. But I’m going.”

He sighed, his hands rubbing absently over your hips. “I suppose I can’t stop you.” He smirked. “I mean, I could.”

“But you won’t.” You said smugly, turning to pack the rest of your things.

“Because my girlfriend carries a surprising amount of wrath in her fragile, mortal body?” He asked, hands still on your hips.

“Yes.” You say, shouldering you bag. “And because you love her and would never dream of restricting her freedom for your own selfish reasons.”

“I’m so glad we’re on the same page.” He said sarcastically, leaning in to kiss your lips, and then your jaw, and down your throat, before he stiffened and Jessica’s car honked from the street.

“Guess that’s my ride.” You said.

He nodded, no longer trying to conceal the worry in his eyes. “I’ll text you.” You said, and he nodded again, stiffly. “And I love you.” You said softly, with a smile.

He was unable to stop the smile that answered yours, “Yeah, yeah. Sure you do.” He said softly, which was his way of saying it back.

You kissed him again when he walked you to the door before you jumped into the backseat of Jessica’s convertible, where Bella was already seated with Angela in the front. Jessica cranked up the music on the radio before the four of you sped off to meet up with Mike and Eric and head to La Push.

You spent the first couple of hours tossing around in the waves. You wrestled Mike to the ground for slapping you with a piece of sea weed until he finally gave up fighting you and apologized. You crawled onto the beach exhausted with the girls and sat in the sand, under the cool grey sky. Though you could tell Jasper was desperately trying not to check in too much, you made sure he knew you were okay every hour or two.

The boys suggested, once it became too cold to swim, that they all take a hike up to the cliffs. Everyone was fairly rested up after swimming and agreed, so you all shrugged your clothes back on and set off up the narrow mountain trail that led to the cliffs above La Push beach.

“And people jump off of these for fun?” Jessica asked skeptically, trying to stare over the cliffs but not daring to come within five feet of the edge.

“That make you nervous?” Mike made like he was going to push her and earned a shriek and a smart punch in the arm in return.

“Any of you ever jumped before?” All of them turned to see a group of three boys emerging onto the cliff, clad in normal clothes but clearly very muscular, and all with dark hair cropped short and dark eyes. You’d never seen the wolves in person but you knew that these had to be some of them, ripped with muscle though the oldest one couldn’t have been more than twenty.

“No way, man.” Eric said. “I’m Eric. This is Mike, that’s Jessica, Y/N, Bella, and Angela.”

“Sam.”

“Jared.”

“Paul.” Each of the boys introduced themselves. You noticed them glancing at you, and you realized Jasper must have been right. They could smell him on you. They all shared a glance and you tried your best not to notice, staring at your phone.

They’re here. You texted Jasper.

His reply was almost immediate: I will come get you.

Do not cross that treaty line. You sent back. Under any circumstances.

You ground your teeth, looking up briefly.

“Y/N, we’re headed back down to start a campfire. You coming?” Angela asked, frowning briefly your troubled expression and glancing at your phone.

“I’ll be down in a minute.”  You said, and they left you alone. You looked back down at your phone.

Who’s being selfish now? Jasper asked.

For keeping you from starting a war? You challenged.

For risking your life because you’re too stubborn to admit you might be in danger.  He shot back.

You shook your head, eyes completely focused on your phone when suddenly the ground fell out from under you and you screamed.

The edge of the cliff. You’d wandered too close to the edge of the cliff. You were falling, eyes closed, and then, with a painful jerk of your arm, you weren’t anymore. Someone had caught you. The one named Sam had grabbed your wrist.

“Grab the ledge.” He said, voice straining with the effort of holding your dead weight. You did and slowly, he hauled you back onto the rocky outcropping. You collapsed on your back on the hard ground, breathing heavily, your arm draped over your eyes.

“Nice … catch.” You said between breaths, still reeling, adrenaline coursing like acid through your veins.

“No problem.” Sam said, sitting beside you. His chest still heaved but he was catching his breath a lot easier than you were. “For future reference though, maybe don’t text on the edge of a cliff.”

You let out a laugh, loud with relief as it dawned on you that you very well could have been killed just now and somehow remained relatively unscathed. “I’ll try to keep that in mind.” You said, bringing your phone up to look at it before you realized it was not in your hand.

“Oh no.” You said, rolling onto your stomach and leaning up to look over the cliff before slapping your hand over your face. “Shit, shit, shit!”

You jumped to your feet and found yourself dizzy. Sam steadied you.

“Take it easy, what’s wrong?” He asked.

“My phone!” You pointed to the cliff. “I was talking to-” You cut yourself off, realizing who you were talking to now, and just shook your head. “Um … I need to get ahold of someone. Do you have a cell phone?”

He shook his head, “Sorry. I’m sure one of your friends does, though. We can walk down and …” His voice trailed off as you thought. Jasper was panicking. You just knew it. If you told him the wolves were here and then didn’t text him back … the longer you waited increased the likelihood that he was on his way here. It left you with one option.

You turned to face Sam. “I need you to drive me to the treaty line.”

Sam didn’t seem all that surprised that you knew what that was, but crossed his arms and looked you over. “Why?”

“You know who my boyfriend is, I know you can smell it on me.” You said. He tilted his head up and watched you. “I was texting him about you being here. If he knows I was with you and then I don’t text back, he’ll try to come get me.”

Sam’s eyebrows shot up. “And start a war?”

“If he thinks I’m in danger.” You said. “You’re the leader, right? Sam Uley?” He watched you, but didn’t say anything. “This doesn’t have to end in a fight. Not if you can get me there in time.”

Sam seemed to look over you, trying to decide if you were telling the truth, before he shook his head. “Get on.”

He took off his shirt and doubled over and before you knew it a black wolf the size of a grizzly bear was standing in front of you. Get on, he’d said.

“You’ve gotta be kidding me.” You mumbled, before struggling onto his back. He let out a small growl which you guessed was wolf for ‘hold on’ and then took off at a run.

You’d been running with Jasper before, and were quite surprised to find that the wolf was just as fast, if not faster. Trees flew by you in a blur of darkness now that the sun had set and before you knew it, you’d reached the treaty line. You rolled off his back and doubled over, hands on knees, stomach churning. Though he was just as fast, Sam was not nearly as graceful. He looked at you warily before something in the woods caught his attention and he crouched into a more defensive position.

“Jasper?” You called out, knowing that’s the only one it could be, but Sam’s head was darting around, his lips curling back over huge canine teeth. There was more than one. “Emmett? Alice? Ed?” You guessed. “I’m fine, no one’s trying to hurt me.”

You glanced at the ground for something, perhaps, that marked where the actual treaty line was, but there was nothing, so you just glanced back at Sam and moved about ten feet forward, hoping that would put you in Cullen territory.

Emmet and Edward appeared just ten feet away, eyes trained on the wolf. Jasper was already in front of you.

“You smell like one of them, are you hurt?” He asked, voice stricken with tension.

“No, I lost my phone and-” You tried but he interrupted you.

“What’s this?” Jasper held up your bruised wrist and ignited a similar pain in your shoulder from where Sam had hauled you back over the cliff. You sucked air through your teeth and jerked your hand away from him instinctively.

What happened next happened very quickly. Edward, reading Jasper’s thoughts, said something along the lines of ‘grab him’ and before you knew it Emmet and Jasper were struggling behind you, Jasper trying to get to Sam, Emmett pouring all of his strength into keeping Jasper behind the treaty line. Sam was crouched and snarling, not attacking first but ready should Jasper get to him. Edward realized that Emmett may not be enough to hold him and grabbed Jasper’s other shoulder as Jasper kicked and snarled, as if all he wanted was to cross the treaty line. Before you really knew what you were doing, you were standing in front of Jasper.

“Y/N he’s not in control right now, you need to move.” Edward said seriously. He was not as strong as Emmett and his grip on Jasper’s arm kept slipping. You didn’t listen.

“Jasper look at me. Not him, me.” You said evenly. He didn’t listen until your hand touched his face. When he looked at you, you could tell it was not entirely Jasper staring back at you. Not your Jasper, anyway. “He didn’t hurt me, okay? You have to believe me, he didn’t. I lost my phone. He brought me here because I knew you’d be looking for me.” You said, your nails scratching in the hairs at the base of his neck.

He was still struggling but it seemed as if he was struggling away from you now, afraid he’d hurt you when he was not in control.

“Look at me.” You said again, forcing him to focus only on you.

“It’s working.” Edward said, looking at you. “Keep going.”

You looked back to Jasper and smiled. “Baby I’m fine. No one hurt me.” You said, your hands on either side of his face. “Listen, I’ll explain everything. But I need you to calm down.”

Jasper glanced back at Sam, and you did too.

“Thank you, Sam. For everything. You can go.” You said. Sam watched you for a second before he seemed to decide to trust you, and turned, loping off into the woods.

“He didn’t hurt you?” Jasper asked, his voice still laced with fury, but it was clear he was back in control.

“You can let him go.” You said to Emmett and Jasper, taking a breath.

“He saved her life.” Edward said, having apparently read Sam’s thoughts, “Apparently you were the one who almost killed her.” His voice was thick with amusement.

Jasper’s eyes widened and he straightened up. “What?” He asked.

You laughed in spite of yourself. “I may have been arguing with you and walked off a cliff.”

Jasper just watched you. “What.”

You broke into a fit of giggles and put your uninjured arm around him. “Let’s just go home. I have to go buy a new cellphone tomorrow.”

“My girlfriend’s an idiot.” Jasper put his arm around you, clearly pissed but amused as well.

“You love her.” You said smugly. His arm tightened around your waist.

“Jeff… "She said once more and sighed deeply. When she saw that he just wouldn’t stop, she started shaking her head and finally, his hands removed from her hair.

"Ah,don’t do this,you’ll get dizzy!”

She ignored his comment and continued walking, faster and faster every time he spoke. She felt really uncomfortable listening to him compliment her.She needed him to shut up so that she could think straight.

“Your hair is soft.I like your hair.”

“Jeff, stop it…” She said in a serious tone.He just rolled his eyes and smiled widely, like he had achieved his goal to irritate her.

Why was he like that?Bipolar disorder? No,just too much liquor.Right?

“We’re almost at my house.Where’s yours though? "She asked and suddenly, he overdramatically put his right hand on his forehead and fell on her.She used all her strength and somehow managed to lift him up.He put his arm around her shoulders and he seemed like he couldn’t walk properly.

"What?” She almost yelled but he put his index finger on her lips, hushing her.

“Oh no,i don’t feel very well…Can i stay at your place tonight?”

“Whoa wait…”She said and tried to push him away but he was too strong and didn’t seem to move an inch. She  sighed loudly and put her hands on his waist, holding him tightly.

She let him come with her without even asking for the location of his own home.He was such a fucking distraction. She was so busy thinking of what she would answer,if he asked her about what happened at the party that she didn’t even mind him basically walking her home. All the anger had strangely faded away and she even laughed a few times at his stupid, intoxicated, loud thoughts.

“Have you noticed that i eventually go along with whatever you want tonight?I’ve lowered my standards and that’s bad.”She confessed and snorted at he thought that he had such an effect on her.It was just so funny.

“So is that an okay or what?“He asked and after hesitating for a moment, she nodded.

“I guess you won’t tell me where you live so i can take you there. And i guess i can’t leave you alone either.“

“You guess right babygirl…”He whispered in her ear and smirked.Y/N felt shivers running down her spine. What was wrong with her?She was supposed to slap him for everything he told and did to her those past couple of days and then walk away. But that wasn’t one of her options and she couldn’t tell why.

After a couple minutes of dead silence, they finally arrived at Y/N’s.

“Can you stand?”She asked and giving her an adorab-stupid smile,he removed his arm from her and indeed stood on his own two feet like there wasn’t anything wrong with him physically.

“Yes, as you can see!”He said and she shook her head.He was playing with her.Of course, she knew that he was pretending but the worst part was that he was having the time of his life.He was enjoying it so much.

She took the keys out of the pocket of her dress and unlocked the door.Thank goodness her parents were gone for the weekend.

“Oh my!This place is so cool!”Jeff exclaimed as he walked in.He literally jumped on the couch then lay there, his hands resting on his forehead.

“Yeah, sure, right…”She seemed to be thinking of something else so she wasn’t paying much attention to him.More than to what was gonna happen from that point and on.

“Y/N i need to tell you something…”He almost shouted when he saw the girl getting upstairs. She stopped moving and turned to him, giving him a questionable look.

“I’m just gonna bring you a blan-”

“It can wait.”He retorted and she frowned. What was so important?Probably on of his stupid comments again, she thought and rolled her eyes.

He sounded serious and honest though.Like something serious had happened.Y/N slowly walked towards him and getting up,he made space for her to sit beside him.

“What is it this time?”She asked, not looking at him.She felt exausted all of a sudden. She didn’t wanna think anymore. It was tiring.

“You’re probably gonna laugh at me but honestly,at this point i don’t care…”He said and put his hands on her thigh.Okay, what was happening? One moment he was all acting strange, the other all serious.Weirdly, sober serious.

The place his hand touched started burning.Damn you Jeff Atkins.Damn you…

“Doubt it,only if it’s some kind of anecdote…”She turned her gaze at him and took a moment to acknowledge his beautiful features;Fuck,he was handsome.

“Hey,listen…”He almost whispered as he removed some hair from her face, putting them behind her ear.

Oh,o-okay…”She breathed.

“You know i like you right? You don’t think i punched Motty because i hate you?I know i said some hurtful things to you and i wish i could take them back. But every time i saw you in the hall with Jensen,i couldn’t help but feel jealous that he was hanging out with you instead of me.And earlier,i felt the need to protect you from that asshole because i know he isn’t the guy you all think he is.”

As he talked, she felt more and more confused. He felt jealous? He wanted to protect her?Where did all these feelings come from?Hell, did he just say he liked her? No,she must have misheard.

“I didn’t mean to say those things to you.I-i just expressed my interest in you in the worst fucking way possible.I don’t hate you Y/N.I like you,so much.I want to get to know you better.I am so attracted to you and believe me, i am hardly holding back so as to not kiss you right now…”

His face was inches away from hers, their foreheads were touching.Y/N could smell his intoxicating breath,a mix of alcohol and ment. Her breath hitched in her throat. That was so wrong. He was just drunk,he didn’t know what he was saying, right?

“Jeff, you need to rest..”Was all that she could say as she gently put her hands on his chest, pushing him back;he was way too close. He bit the inside of his cheek, then ran a hand through his hair.

“So that’s all you have to say after all this? That i need to rest?Y/N,don’t you see it?I am so in love with you,yet you don’t even say anything about it!”

Y/N angrily stood up and started pacing back and forth.

“What do you want me to say? That i like you back?Is that what you wanna hear?Even if i did i would never admit it because boys like you use girls for their own benefit!I am not willing to be one of those girls Jeff, okay? All i want is for this  misunderstanding to end at this very moment.I forgive you for what you did but please, don’t make this more complicated than it already is.Just, leave it.I’m sure that tomorrow, everything you did and what we said tonight will just be a blur to you.So let’s just end this here, please…“

She finished her small speech and with tears in her eyes, she didn’t even notice Jeff getting up and heading towards her.

“I don’t do these things Y/N,you have it all wrong-”

He tried to touch her hand but she took a step back, shaking her head.

“It doesn’t matter, Jeff. You are drunk and you can’t control the words coming out of your mouth.I’m sure you don’t even mean everything you’ve told me tonight. So just lay on the couch,i’ll bring you a pillow and a blanket and then you can sleep. And when you wake up in the morning, please go before i come down.Don’t want you shouting at me for ‘seducing’ you to come to my home.”

She wiped away some tears covering her face and biting her lip,she turned around and hesitantly climbing the stairs, she slowly disappeared from his sight.

He decided to let her go.He thought she needed time to maybe think.Besides, she’d come down anyway. While sitting down in silence, his head spinning, he managed to come to a single conclusion;he wasn’t gonna give up so easily.

You know i love the idea of karma and nagisa starting a relationship when they were still in highschool but you know whats better? Them just starting a relationship WHEN THEY’RE OLDER:

  • Nagisa having a crush on Karma when they were still in highschool but wasn’t able to tell him, fastforward to 8 years in the middle of the year, his students are all asking “do you have anyone you like” and “who was your first love?” Types of questions
  • Him answering “well there was this one person in my class–” and the class is so intrigued by the story but it ends in a so half-assed tway hat they ended up saying NO THAT CANT BE THE ENDING” and basically scolding their teacher to man up and that he really missed his chance
  • HIS STUDENTS BEING REALLY SUPPORTIVE OF HIM!!
  • Or Karma is the one who had a crush on Nagisa but again DIDNT TELL HIM cause he thought it would just trouble nagisa and he didn’t want that.
  • His office mates keep asking why he doesn’t have a girlfriend or wife despite his looks and job and he’ll just answer with “sorry im only interested on a person who is willing to hijack a space-shuttle and terrorize highly trained astronaut with me to save a mutant octopus” and of course they think he’s joking
  • They started setting him up with random girls but it doesnt work out so they start asking him what type of person he’s looking for and he just sTARTED DESCRIBING NAGISA and they’re just like “wow man thats really specific” and he just replies with “its just a list of things im attracted to”
  • Both of them just saying to them selves “they’re over it” but t h e y  a r e n o t and they’re completely in denial
  • OR just them not realizing ANYTHING AT ALL in their high school years, cause they never fell in love before and they just keep saying this is a “normal feeling that b r o s share” and the whole class E just watches them in pain
  • “So who’s going to tell them?”
NO ONE WILL, THEY HAVE TO REALIZE IT THEMSELVES
  • They then try hinting at them multiple times and then they realize this will never ever work
  • “they’re geniuses when it comes to assassination but complete idiots when it comes to their own feelings” AND THIS LITERALLY GOES ON FOREVER
  • After so many years they meet each other again at a certain shop for the first time and it became a routine for them that visit the shop and they basically starts hanging out like they used to
  • THEM ACTING LIKE HIGHSCHOOLERS AND JUST GOOFS AROUND AFter WORK
  • Both of them falling in love all over again with each other but they don’t realize it again and there’s this nagging feeling of “they should say something”
  • Them being like “oh shit oH SHIT” after the dawning realization of their feelings
  • Both of them realizing they actually fell in love with each other since junior high
  • Having this awkward tension between them that they felt like they were back in school until one of them breaks it and a literal RELIEF for both of them
  • But they still were’t a hundred percent sure so it ended up with Karma courting nagisa LIKE A HIGHSCHOOLER
  • Nagisa-sensei receiving flowers and chocolates randomly and students keep asking questions about where its from
  • Especially on valentines day, everyone in the faculty gave him a rose on the way to his desk and to his surprise (and embarrassment) his whole desk is covered with petals and a chocolate cake in the middle
  • Getting random embarrassing text from karma in the middle of class as a joke
  • Karma waiting in front of the school and the students keep asking who’s the handsome guy with a suitcase upfront until nagisa walks over to him and drags him out and they’ll all be like “O”
  • NAGISA BEING BOMBARDED WITH ALL THIS QUESTIONS FROM BOTH FACULTY AND STUDENTS
  • ENDING UP HIM FEELING LIKE HE WANTS TO DIE FROM ALL THIS EMBARRASSMENT
  • Karma greeting Nagisa good morning and goodnight every single da y on text
  • EVEN BETTER THEY JUST RECORD THEIR OWN VOICE AND SENDS IT TO EACH OTHER
  • Both of them texting each other when they have a bad day and they just surprise each other at their own apartment bringing them their favorite food
  • Karma receiving NICE LITTLE NOTES IN POST IT FROM NAGISA AND HE KEEPS IT IN A NOTEBOOK
  • Karma trying to stay serious and cool but when nagisa texts him he Becomes REALLY GIDDY AND COULDNT STOP SMILING
  • When Nagisa visits him in the office for the first time all of karma’s office mates are like “OH MY GOD THEY EXIST”
  • The whole building instantly welcomed nagisa
  • THEM FINALLY ANNOUNCING THEY’RE TOGETHER IN ONE OF THE CLASS E REUNIONS
  • ALL OF CLASS E GIVE THEM AN “are you kidding me” LOOK SAYING IT WAS SO OBVIOUS AND WHAT TOOK THEM SO LONG
  • MAEHARA AND ISOGAI SHARED MOMENTS THEY LITERALLY THOUGHT THEY WERE DATING
  • EVEN SUGINO SAID HE WAS THIRD-WHEELING AROUND THEM
  • THEY ENDED UP CREATING JOKES LIKE “the gods have answered” and “koro-sensei is so proud”
  • KARMA AND NAGISA LEARNING HOW GAY THEY REALLY WERE BACK THEN AND IT DEFINITELY THE MOST EMBARRASSING THING THEY EXPERIENCED
  • NAKAMURA BEING LIKE “HOLY FUCK I WAITED FOR THIS FOR 8 YEARS, TERASAKA WHERES MY MONEY AT”
Leather Jacket and motorcycle

« What do you mean ‘the line’s closed’, what happened? »
« A cow fell on the rails. »
« A cow? »
« Yes. »

You were about to rip the man’s eyes out but opted for the less illegal solution and walked away, cursing under your breath as you climbed up the stairs. The cold was teeth-chattering, and you quickly started shaking, putting your arms around your chest in a desperate attempt to block the chilliness. Of course you had to forget to take your coat. You felt the sting of a droplet of water hit your face and you silently prayed it was just a woman watering her plants a few floors above you. Unfortunately it wasn’t, and you soon found yourself soaked to the skin, running as fast as you can,  in the hope to find some place to hide from the rain, somewhere where you could stay dry, or at least dry up. During your frantic race in the search for a shelter, you quickly found yourself slipping and falling straight on your butt, not forgetting to break a heel in the process. You looked down at your broken shoes in disgust.

« Of course the one time I decide to wear heels… I hate you, you fucki- »
« What are you doing down there? » A man with a deep voice chuckled. You looked up at him. Glaring daggers at him truly.
« Looking for my dignity apparently. » You muttered while taking your shoes off, and the man laughed.
« You’re gonna walk bare foot? » He snickered, taking your hand in his in order to help you up. You could have refused his help, you should have; but you didn’t.
« Yes I’m going to walk bare foot, I need to go home. »
« And you can’t take a cab? » He asked, sounding genuinely worried, still not letting go of your hand.
« I don’t have my wallet. » You sighed in defeat and he joined you. He let go of your hand and you suddenly you felt cold again, but it wasn’t for long as you saw him take off his jacket and put it over your shoulders.
« Now you’re gonna be cold. » You stated, clearly unimpressed, and he chuckled again, shaking his head slightly, a cocky smile playing on his lips. You couldn’t decide if you wanted to punch his teeth in, or kiss him.
« I’ve got a bike, » he stated « it’s resting a few streets down the road. I can take you home… If you’re ok with that. » For an instant, you saw the shadow of shyness on his face, but he replaced it with a smirk so fast you started to doubt yourself. « I mean, you don’t really have much of a choice anyway. »
You scoffed, crossing your arms over your chest in defiance, forgetting the fact that the only thing keeping you from getting even more soaked was the jacket he kindly offered you.
« You’re an awfully cocky guy. »
He shook his head again, and of course you knew it wasn’t the only truth, he had something different, he was different, you knew that behind the smirk, the perfect teeth and smug look, he was the kind of guy who would lend his - really cool and probably really expensive - leather jacket to a complete stranger, not only because you had just experienced it, but because there was just something special escaping him, a certain warmth radiating from his body.
He decided to ignore your sassy remark and threw you a blinding smile.
« Where d’you live doll? »
« Brooklyn. »
He nodded quietly and started walking toward his bike.
« I never said a was coming with you. » You yelled at his back as you refused to follow him.
« Don’t be a pain in the ass, just come. » He yelled, walking back to you, lowering his voice as he came closer and closer. You shivered, finally realizing you had been standing bare foot under the rain for long minutes now. He couldn’t help but notice your shuddering, and without a second thought, he grabbed your knees in his left hand, and snaked the other one under your back, lifting you off the floor in a swift motion.
« What the fuck?! » You squealed as you gripped his neck in surprise, digging your fingers in the skin of his neck.
« I’m Bucky Barnes by the way. »
« I know who you are, but being an avenger doesn’t allow you to carry people around like that! » You tried to sounds angry, but you sounded more shocked than actually pissed, which, of course, made Bucky laugh.
« Put me down. » You whined.
« You’re gonna get a cold doll. » You scoffed but didn’t answer, you slowly relaxed into his arm, and quickly, exhaustion got to you and you found yourself falling asleep on his shoulder. You woke up to the sound of Bucky’s voice.
« Hey darling, wake up. »
You slowly opened your eyes and your gaze met Bucky’s, he had a gentle smile plastered on his lips, his eyes were digging into yours and you felt your breathe hitch in your throat at the sight.
He set you down on the bike, holding your waist with one hand and the handlebar with another, making sure neither you, or the bike were going to fall over. Slowly, he let go of your waist and bent down, untying his shoes and taking of his socks.
« The fuck? » You said. He didn’t answer and just shushed you as he took your freezing cold foot in his gloved left hand, slipping the sock on your foot gently.
« I’m gonna ask again, what the fuck? »
He chuckled but didn’t stop.
« Your feet are already freezing, if you’re not at least wearing socks, you won’t be able to feel your extremities by the time we reach Brooklyn. It’s a weird and awkward solution but it’s a solution. If you’ve got a better one, please, by all means, speak up. » He retorted and you snorted, but stayed quiet, unable to hold back a smile. He handed you a helmet and helped you put it on. His hand softly brushed your cheek as he slip the helmet on your head and you wondered for a second if it was intentional, silently hoping it was.
He sent you a proud smirk and tapped the helmet with his palm.

« Aw! »
« All set doll. » He grinned smugly. You were about to retort something clever but worry started taking over your mind.
« You’re not wearing a helmet. » You stated, concern lacing your voice.
« Darling, I’m Bucky Barnes, I don’t need a Helmet. »
You scoffed. « Fuck you’re arrogant. » He just winked and hopped on the bike, patting the seat behind him, so you sat down, wiggling on your spot to find a comfortable position.
Bucky turned to look at you, a tender smile playing on his lips. « Hang on tight. » So you did, you grabbed his t-shirt, holding onto it for dear life, nuzzling your face in his broad shoulders.
« Alright, let’s go. » He whispered, before pressing the accelerator, the engine roared as the wheels started burning the asphalt. You squealed as speed hit you, and you gripped his shirt a little tighter, your knuckles slowly turning white with the pressure.
« Problem? » You heard him snicker.
« No. » You muttered, clenching your arms around his torso. He chuckled and sped up.
The ride went by quietly. Manhattan to Brooklyn was a fairly long ride and you were exhausted. Bucky’s back was warm and comfortable and you soon found yourself dazing off, taking in the sight of New York spread in front of you, the quietness of the streets disrupted by the loud humming of the bike. You couldn’t notice Bucky’s quick glances at you every time he would stop at a red light, or the radiant smile he was repressing, and you didn’t even realize when he put his hand over yours, making sure you were still hanging on tightly. If you had been wide awake, you would have noticed the way Bucky’s heart sped up each time you moved, even imperceptibly, or how he would shiver every time your grasp wouldn’t loosen, just slightly. You straightened up when you passed the Brooklyn Bridge and Bucky turned to look at you, concerned. His breathe hitched in his throat when he saw your face. You were focused on the stars playing in the sky, and the way the lights of the bridge reflected on the water of the East. You were taken aback by the sight but Bucky was dumbfounded by something else. You were glowing. His heart skipped a beat and he turned around, desperately trying to hide the blush creeping up his cheeks. He wasn’t used to this, he had always been the ladies man, and now he was wrapped around your fingers. Just in an instant.
You felt the engine slow and the humming of the bike die down. Bucky turned the wheel and slowly parked on the sidewalk. You looked at him, too stunned to speak and he just smiled fondly at you.
« Something wrong? » You inquired, sounding more worried than you had hoped for. You weren’t worried about the bike giving up, you were worried about Bucky, maybe he was too cold, or maybe you had done something wrong. You hoped you didn’t. He silently took your hand and helped you off of the bike.
« You seemed to enjoy the view, so I thought you’d like to have a closer look. » He grinned proudly.
You took off your helmet and rubbed your eyes, trying to fight off sleep. You smiled sleepily at Bucky and he answered with a blissful chuckle.
The sidewalk was wet and and you shivered as your feet hit the cold concrete. Bucky’s socks were thick and warm, but not enough to shield you from the rain. You started shaking and before you knew it, Bucky had you off the floor and wrapped in his warm embrace. You didn’t squeal this time and you let yourself be carried. You relaxed in his arms, melting in the embrace of his cologne and the heat of his skin. You exhaled in his neck and this time, he was the one to shiver. You closed your eyes for a split second and you missed the ecstatic smile that took over his face. When you opened your eyes, you were next to the balustrade; the view was breathtaking. The glimmer of the water, the faint light of the moon, covered by the darkness of the clouds, the city shining in the distance, you let yourself be overwhelmed by the smell of the rain, the scent of the wet concrete and the running water of the river. You felt like time had stopped all together and the sound of the streets were muffled in your ears as you lost yourself in the moment. You closed your arms against Bucky’s neck and you felt his smile in your hair.
« We should go » he breathed, « you’re shivering. »
You laughed and rubbed your eyes in exhaustion. « Yeah, I am. »

It wasn’t long before you were in front of your building, Bucky had speed up the pace and now it was time to say goodbye.
You got off the bike and hurriedly thanked him as the coldness of the pavement started biting your feet, you ran toward the door but heard him call you before you could open it.
« Hey! I didn’t catch your name! »
You turned around and smirked proudly « It’s Y/N. »
« Well Y/N, I’m glad I bumped into you. »

———

The next day you decided to go back to the Brooklyn bridge, hoping to bump into Bucky, again. So you got up quite early and took a long, relaxing shower before heading out, not forgetting to take his jacket with you… actually, putting it on you.
The moment you stepped foot out of your building, you were met with an all smile Bucky.

« Are you stalking me Barnes? » You sassed. He blushed but covered it with a genuine laugh.
« I thought you’d be tired today, so I brought you coffee. » He handed you a warm cup of what seemed to be very dark coffee and you couldn’t help but smile at the attention.
« Besides, you still had my jacket… »
« Oh so that’s why you’re here! » You exclaimed.
« Well, I mean… » He blushed again and you chuckled in response. You saw the two helmets on his bike and tilted your head in confusion.
« I thought, maybe, we could ride around New York… again. » He smirked.
« I’d like that a lot. » You went ahead of him and put the helmet on, patting the seat in front of you, urging him to hurry, sit, and take the wheel. Bucky sat down and you hopped on the bike behind him, making sure your grip was tight around his torso, as you now knew what kind of crazy driver he was.
« So, you want your jacket back? »
« Nah » he said, » it looks better on you. »

#42 isak and even ??

42) things you said when you asked me to marry you (this was requested by three people so i figured y’all really want this. it’s okay - i wanted it too.)

Isak’s still rubbing the sleep from his eyes when he enters the kitchen to Even making breakfast. He’s gotten years to drink in this sight on both the good days and the bad days, but the revelation that Even’s here, for him, is still enough to knock the wind out of Isak. It’s been so long, but Isak will always be that insecure boy in the kitchen of his old apartment, wondering if he’d dreamt up a world where someone as beautiful as Even would stay with him when the morning came.

“What are you doing over there?” Even says. He glances up from the eggs to beam at Isak. “I woke up extra early on our anniversary to make you breakfast, and I don’t even get a cuddle for it?”

“We could’ve cuddled in bed,” Isak grumbles, but he dutifully makes his way over to Even, wraps his arms around his waist and presses his nose against Even’s back. He breathes in, and Even’s familiar scent calms down the flutters in his stomach. “Seven years, baby,” he whispers.

“Feels like longer,” Even says.

“Yeah,” Isak says, but he’s been saying this as soon as he met Even, hadn’t he? Falling in love with Even had been like discovering something new and familiar all at once, and even though they’ve only officially been living together for three years, Isak can’t remember a time when he didn’t come home to Even. They’ve weathered storms, fought and broke and healed, but in the end, this is where he belongs, holding Even safe in his arms.

“You’re a terrible father” - Tony Stark x Daughter!reader

Love the idea. And really, I kinda take any requests :D. Thank you for this one, it’s right here, hope you like it :

(My master list, by the way : Right here )

_____________________________________________________________________

It was the twentieth fucking time you tried to call your father, Anthony Stark, and you fell, once again, on his stupid voice saying that he was “too busy to answer” and that he’d “call back” but “probably not”. Damn that man.

In your entire life on this Earth, you were pretty sure he never picked you up on time somewhere. Never, ever. He was just always late, so much that you came up with a trick of actually telling the wrong times for him to be on time. If something was at 6pm, you’d tell him it was at 4. But even with that trick, he still often managed to be fucking late. Which is why most of the time, your stepmother came to get you. But Pepper, wasn’t available today.

You smiled, thinking about your “stepmother”. You were so glad she was in your life, being pretty sure that if your dad never had the help, he probably would have lost custody of you before you reach the age of 1…You considered Pepper your real mother. You never met your biological mom as she just dumped you in front of your dad’s house, with a note. One paternity test later, and it was confirmed you were his…You were the first step to his transformation, the first to help him become the man he was today. Better.

So you grew up with Pepper around. She filled in brilliantly the mother role, even before she actually started dating your father (you remember the day you finally convinced him to just tell her his feelings, and smiled).
