if i was a man i would have wanted to look like

Q & A Transcript with Alex Hirsch at MomoCon 2017

Question: Before you decided to make Bill the main bad guy, did you have another character in mind that would have been the villain?

Alex: Yeah, um that’s a good question. Uh, so, when we came up with the villain of the show, I knew that… I knew that Bill was involved. And I knew that Ford had disappeared due to some deal gone wrong with some villain next to the mystery of how Gravity Falls was all assembled.

Um, but, I didn’t yet decide that Bill was that character in the very beginning, y'know? I had always imagined it was some sort of evil character somewhere kinda hidden in the woods. I wasn’t sure I could go with the Bill idea cuz I thought it would be too much like Twin Peaks, but as we got further along the series we discussed it among the repairs and we were like, ‘none of our other villain ideas were as good.’ Bill, Bill was weirder than anything else we thought of. Um, I remember there were other ideas. Strange monsters and government officials; some kind of cthulhu– some weird crazy old man. But nothing was ever better than Bill, so it ended up sticking. Probably somewhere around, y'know, season one– midway through season one, we started thinking we might be– might be on point.

Q: Was Grunkle Stan ever aware of McGucket’s connection to his brother?

A: Oh, oh that’s such a good question. Wait, let me think about that for a second… Uh… lemme see… I don’t think so. I don’t think Stan was ever aware of McGucket’s connection to his brother. Because, by the time Stan traded identities with Ford, uh… McGucket had already gone off the deep end– Was already y'know, had already created the Society of the Blind Eye; had already lost his own memory. So Stan would’ve really only known McGucket as a local obnoxious fisherman.

And McGucket, probably somewhere deep in the back of his mind, was eerily just drawn to Stan in a way he just couldn’t put his finger on, because he thought maybe he knew him, but– I don’t– I think Stan was ignorant of that. Um, I think Stan… I think Stan looking through the journals probably should’ve put two and two together, but Stan’s not the best at book-learnin’. Uh, so… my guess is Stan wouldn’t have known despite that uh, that there’s a lot of tumblr art out there showing them as like the Scooby-Doo gang. I don’t think Stan ever really knew McGucket before.

Q: What episode do you believe came out the strongest and the most well rounded overall? And is it the same as your personal favorite episode?

A: Oh gosh. Um. That’s a great question. Hmm… I probably feel, personally, that the strongest episode is uh, “Not What He Seems” just because it’s such a dramatic episode. Like, we know– We’ve never had an episode that dramatic. But, when we first pitched it to Disney executives… they thought it was bad. [laughs] Um, Because it didn’t have a lot of jokes in it? Like, I remember normally when we’re pitching our episode, executives can usually gauge how good they are by how much people laugh. People didn’t really laugh for that one, because it’s really tense. So we thought, maybe we’d screwed up. But, when the animation came back we were like, 'Oh! It’s GOOD that it’s tense. Like, it worked!’ Um, So, I dunno if that’s my favorite episode, but I think– that’s the episode we should’ve won an Emmy for, and I’m still pissed we didn’t. [laughs]

In terms of favorite episode, like… I dunno. I think the first episode that I really felt that the show was really starting to feel the way I wanted it to– “Time Traveler’s Pig” in season one. Like, that was an episode where Dipper had an interesting story, and Mabel had an interesting story, and uh, felt nostalgic, and based around the summer, and had a big secret callback to even previous episodes, so– I just remember when we first just got that episode back in color, I was like, 'hey I think maybe I like how I’m making this cartoon show,’ so I think that has a particularly fond place in my heart, y'know.

Q: Is Disney bringing you to SDCC or NYCC later this year to promote the journal and other books coming out?

A: Right, um, yeah, Disney– Disney… Disney-general and me, have like– we’re divorced. Like, they kept the house, and the pets. Y'know what I mean? It’s… we don’t like get dinner or anything. But, the Disney Publishing department, separate from Disney Television, they’re really cool, and enthusiastic, and energized. And they wanna make new cool stuff. Um, so I think it’s possible I might be at D23 this year, and it’s possible I might be at Comic Con, but I don’t have anything confirmed yet.

Q: In the scene where Bill is trying to convince Ford to join him in the Fearamid, were there any other jokes or story beats that were considered?

A: Which episode specifically are you talking about? [Q: The We’ll Meet Again scene.] Yea yea yea, We had a– Every scene that you’ve ever seen in the show has a ton of ton of stuff we’ve thought of and had to cut for time or other reasons. Um, I remember there was definitely a version of that where Bill was a lot trickier. Like, he sort of more successfully lied to Ford about like: 'We’re actually going to make the world a better place. Though I present myself as this chaos lunatic that’s just my personality.' Like, 'here’s ways in which we’ll IMPROVE the universe.'

Um, but it felt out of character. We thought it was much more like Bill to just draw smiley faces in oceans and eat the sun and just– hope, that the force of his charisma could convince Ford that that was a good idea. But uh, I feel like– I feel like Bill can be really really tricky when he wants to, but by the time Weirdmageddon showed up he’s so impatient, and he’s so convinced that he won, that he was no longer like, this brilliant chess master he used to be. He’s like, 'alright let’s do it! Do what I want or I’ll eat your face.’ Like, no more– No more, like– He wasn’t as smart a tactician as he used to be, y'know?

Q: Was “We’ll Meet Again” always the song you were going to use?

A: Oh yeah, it had to be that. It was like… I think I’d just seen Dr. Strangelove recently around that time and it stuck in my head. It seems to me, if Bill has a taste in music, it would be, like, old timey music that ranges from either weird to obnoxious to obscure.

Uh, Disney wanted me to cut it cuz it cost them a bunch of money to get the rights, even though it’s so old, it still cost them money to get the rights. And I just… said, please. Over and over and over again. I would send an e-mail that just said, 'please.’ And send another e-mail that said, 'please.’ And I would send another e-mail that said– Yeah. [laughs] Eventually I wore them down that they’re like, 'alright we’ll spend thousands of dollars.’ [laughs]

Q: Are real comics coming?

A: You want comics? Would you read Gravity Falls comics?
[Audience screams]
[Alex leans his ear forward]
[AUDIENCE SCREAMS]

A: It’s a terrifying noise isn’t it, Michael? I was at a… Gravity Falls gallery, and like, they didn’t tell us how many people would show up, and it was like, THAT noise echoing from every corner. And uh like, I think I lost a year of my life. My hair started going gray, and it was like, 'oh my god, this is too much love! It’s terrifying.'

Comics. I would love to do Gravity Falls comics. Um, I have so many… One of the tough things about a half hour show like Gravity Falls is every now and then we think of an idea that we really liked, but it was too short for a half hour; 'oh that’s only five minutes of story’– Or it’s too specific and weird. And so I have tons and tons of ideas of the show that y'know we’d like to explore this character, we’d like to show this secret, this storyline. So, I’d love to do comics. But, that’s up to Disney Publishing, and I’m trying to convince them. So, hopefully, I’ll have something exciting to announce in not too long.

Q & A with Stan and Soos

Q: Is Dipper adorable or manly?

Stan: Dipper smells like baby wipes. Even if I cut off all my shoulder hair, and taped it to him, he wouldn’t be 1/10th as manly I am.

Q: What would you do if Mabel told you she had a date to prom?

Stan: I would… invite the gentleman over, have some coffee, tie him to a chair and interrogate him for 10 hours, and maybe throw him in the pit. [shrug] Hands off my neice, kid!

Q: What would happen if Soos met Giffany again?

Soos: Oh yea, I recently downloaded this couple’s therapy sim? Uh, I think she and I would have to talk about our issues and pass around a conversation pillow, and really work out these struggles. Cuz she’s got some problems, dude.

Q: Soos, why are you so perfect?

Soos: Yeah, uh, my grandma said that a whole bunch of doves flew down and formed the shape of a perfect angel over my crib. I dunno, dude I guess I was just born that way.

anonymous asked:

do you have tips on comic compostions and angling/framing of scenes beacuse holy fudge what the actual hell your mob comic is An Expirience

hhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhOOOOOOOOOOOO BO Y AIGHT

I’m gonna take this ask as a chance to masterpost about this comic.

Since there wasn’t a set time limit for this comic, I went all ham for it, which means there’s a lot of thought about angles/framing n shit in this sumbitch. (keep in mind i’m still learning this craft myself as i go along so FEEL FREE TO IMPROVE WHEREVER)

I’ll go in depth about it but all of my tips can be summed up with :

go for the emotion of the scene.

Everything I do, I do to try and heighten the feeling in a scene. Everything I’m about to describe were all choices to try and maximize the emotional impressions.

Angles

First off, everything in this comic (with the exception of panels 7-9 on page 4) is from Mob’s POV. Everything is built from there. keep in mind goin forward -

We start with Mob terrified of being spotted, of running into anyone. So I strained the perspective to make it feel too close for comfort, despite how far away his other limbs are. I also used the angle to emphasize the “spotlight”, pushing Mob into further discomfort, like he’s being watched anyways.

Mob fears he just murdered someone ? At his lowest moment in this comic? This is where the camera looks down on Mob the most.

Time for shock and awe that the man’s alive ! So Reigen is angled UP, building his Bigness in Mob’s eyes. Most subsequent shots repeat this, keeping us grounded in Mob’s perspective.

Here, Mob is literally on his knees asking for answers. So I pushed for an angle to make him seem really tiny. I wanted him to look as small as he feels.

In the next few pages, the angles basically level out (and I’ll talk more about why in other sections***) until

Mob has just touched back. This was a direct action on his part, so just as I’d built Reigen with that tilt up, it’s Mob’s turn to share that space.

Once Mob fears for the lives of the police, we shift back to high angles. Using a high angle to make a character seem small isn’t groundbreaking but it’s something to chew anyways.

This is less about the angle and more about how cramped everything is. Mob feels backed into a corner unless he can get Reigen to relent. So the tightness and how Reigen looms reflects this.

And here, I mirrored the very first panel. Once again we have a shot of Mob’s back, walking into the light of a streetlamp. But this angle is gentle in comparison, even if slightly off center. We can see where the light comes from so it ceases to feel less like an omnipotent threat and more mundane. Perhaps even hopeful.

Paneling

I’m sorry to say I feel this is one of my weak points as a creator. I’d like to improve here the most. Most of my panels can be summed up with ‘slant = energized’, ‘straight = stable’. BUT. I did take a few liberties here and it’s good to point them out.

Broken glass to heighten the ouch on Mob’s part.

Salt man don’t give a fuck. he IS the panel. //adds to the energy of this moment

This break from the panels is meant to make Mob hitting Reigen a more immediate threat.

Same with Reigen reaching around it here. He’s still in danger of being shreddy shreddy at this point.

Sometimes a panel will bleed off, to give a more ‘open space’ feel. I like to use it in subtle “oh” moments. That’s the best I could describe it.

annnnnd nothin like a casual reminder on the edges of panels about what would happen should the police show up.

Staging/Body Language

Once Reigen shows up, he dominates the frame, even in shots where mob is closer to the audience. Again, this is all to emphasize how Big Reigen seems to a scared Mobbu.

Mob pushes himself to corners, Reigen’s given the bulk of the space.

He stands taller than mob and makes the frame uneven.

Even his hand feels huge in comparison.

***That is, until Reigen has a better perception of what’s going on.

Then his actions and staging reflect this.

Reigen kneels down, trying to make himself smaller both to Mob, and in the frame.

The staging reflects Reigen’s attempts to get on even ground, literally and metaphorically.

Mob’s still pushing himself into corners, but now Reigen has actively surrendered some of the space.

Still just, trying to get some of Mob’s perspective.

And from this point onwards, Reigen and Mob share the space/frame more evenly.

Even in shots where Reigen’s kinda large, he no longer seems so imposing.

Mob still looks up to him but we no longer have such dramatic shots tilting him up and having him hog the focus of the panel.

And we save the closest-closeup, both in staging and in how close our characters physically feel for last. Because bonding and shit.

Coloring

Decided to make the use of color sort of uncomfortable. Hinted at in edges but not really a presence of their own. Hard to tell what the color of anything is because it’s all nonsense in ur peripherals.

Until we get to humans. But this color seems more invasive, and doesn’t really touch mob in a positive way.

Till we get to these splash of color, messy and kinda unorganized but it’s exactly what Mob needs to bring some order.

From here we get a muted color wash, there but still slightly dulled.

The first hint we get of the saturation to come is centered around the touch.

We slowly fade into full blown saturation once Mob reaches back.

Fanfic bonus

The name meanings of Jun and Tetsuo, since this is the street where they live and why not ahaha.

There’s a lot of bird imagery in ABoT so I

“Kid, it’s like lifting a feather.”

And even tho Reig gets a cool halo from the streetlights n shit

We all know who the real angel is

Other fun shit

Mob’s outfit is based on Sakurai’s outfit when he was orphaned as a child.

I literally put the streetlight directly behind the hand in this shot because I lack subtlety and love it.

There are 2 times where I cut out a bit of (frankly beautiful) wordage in order to show things better visually. Both times happen when Mob’s stopped paying attention.

First with Reigen’s words just becoming a flood of nonsense pretty sounds.

The second when Mob’s thinking about the possibility of his barrier being gone.

also here u guys can have some behind the scenes shenanigans

@thunderboltsortofapenny said: No no let’s do this! Why would steve need to be fake married. Or why would bucky need to be fake married to Steve. We need a reason. #Viper do the thing #It’ll be fun!

So I did the thing, and it’s stupid and terrible, but here, have it:

Bucky’s an EMT. Normal guy, just living his life, trying to help where he can. And then one day, all of a sudden, the aliens are invading NYC, and Bucky’s out there helping, right in the middle of the danger zone because of course he is.

There’s a fight going on, and a bunch of freaks in weird suits seem to be fighting the aliens, but Bucky doesn’t have much time to focus on anything other than all the people in dire need of medical attention. He does what he can to help, grabs the first metal bar he can find and fights only the aliens getting in his way, and works himself to exhaustion. Then there’s a blast, and it sends a man flying right into the wall next to him.

“Hey, you okay?” Bucky asks, rushing to help him, and though Bucky could’ve sworn the blow was hard enough to crush anyone’s ribs, he’s surprised to see the man–who must’ve been on his way to a costume party–stand up practically unscathed.

He’s got broad shoulders and a strong jaw and eyes of the prettiest shade of blue Bucky’s ever seen, and even with his face covered in soot and grime and blood, Bucky’s heart skips a beat.

For a few seconds the man seems a bit disoriented, then he finally registers Bucky’s presence. “What are you doing here?? Get out of the streets!”

“I was–” Bucky starts, and is cut off by an explosion right above their heads and a bunch of debris raining down on them, and a hand shoving him aside.

When he comes to, which is a surprise in itself, the dust has started to clear, and the man who’s clearly saved his life is carrying him as if he weighed nothing, concern in those beautiful eyes and a big, warm hand pressed tenderly against Bucky’s neck, checking for a pulse.

He locks eyes with Bucky and sighs in relief, the hint of a smile on his plush lips, but the hand remains where it is. “Hi,” he says. “You all right?”

“Y-yeah… Thank you,” Bucky replies, but he doesn’t move to free himself of the man’s arms. His stomach is doing something weird, and the man surely has other people to rescue, but for a few seconds they both just stay there, shell-shocked and staring at each other like the world around them has stopped.

Then something blows up nearby, and the spell is broken.

Carefully, the man helps him to his feet, makes sure Bucky’s in one piece, and then says, “Find shelter, okay? Stay inside.”

Bucky’s not planning to, but he can’t find it in him to tell that to this incredible man, so he slowly licks his lips and nods. Before turning around to leave, the man offers him a small, shy smile.

During the next few weeks after the Chitauri attack on NYC, every single piece of footage of the Avengers fighting against the aliens and helping civilians goes viral. Phone videos, security cameras, blurry pics.

The most popular, by far, is a snapshot of Captain America carrying a guy, who can be seen fighting aliens and helping people in other videos, bridal style, thumb caressing his jaw, and both looking like lovestruck teenagers.

Bucky can’t go to the grocery store or even do his job without being stalked by the paparazzi or Cap’s groupies or just random people wanting to know what his Avenger name is, and for how long he’s been dating Captain America.

- - - - -

“You’ve ruined my life!!” Bucky tells him, because of course, of course Captain America would pick Bucky’s park for his morning run. Of course Bucky’d slip on wet leaves on the pavement precisely this morning, and of fucking course Captain America would just happen to be around to catch him at just the right time. Bucky’s seeing red.

“I’m sorry,” Captain America says, and it’s extremely unfair just how genuine and how much like a kicked puppy he looks.

Christ, Bucky wants to punch him.

- - - - -

Steve’s been living in PR hell.

He’s spent the past weeks “saving” girls and boys alike from getting hit by a bicycle, or fainting, or a fuckton of equally stupid shit.

The second anyone spots Captain America, there’ll suddenly be some kind of dangerous situation going down, and someone hoping Cap will carry them bridal style to safety and maybe fall head over heels in love with them in the process.

Steve is tired and done and ready to get back in the ice for another few decades, and shares Pepper’s worries that someone might actually put themself in real danger soon.

“We should handle this before it gets worse,” Nat says. And Steve agrees, of course, but he just doesn’t know how.

“Just marry the guy,” Clint suggests.

Steve almost chokes to death on his own spit.

“WHAT?”

Clint shrugs. “Why not? Half the world already thinks you’re dating…”

“Clint, he hates me…”

“Only cause people keep pestering him about this. If you two get married it’ll be a circus, but then it’ll blow over. He can’t even do his job right now, right? So you pay the guy for the trouble, yadda yadda, then when this is over you two get a quick divorce, and that’s it. Problem solved.”

For two minutes, no one else opens their mouth. Then:

“He’s got a point…”

“Tony, no,” Steve whines.

“You saw the footage, how he was helping those civilians… If you have to marry someone, he’s not a bad candidate,” Nat says, and then smirks. “Plus, he’s cute.”

Steve already knows he’s lost this battle, but that doesn’t help him feel any better about this. Yes, he’s cute. Yes, he’s a brave and kind and smart guy. Yes, Steve could very easily pretend to be married to him for a while and yes it’d help them both. None of that’s the problem.

The problem is that he kind of really likes the guy.

The problem is that the guy hates him.

This is a really, really bad idea.

anonymous asked:

You are the first and only writer I have read for this fandom. I love your work so much, I've re read all your Arrow stories twice (even the Firefly one even though I've never watched it). Do you have any favorite Olicity fics to recommend to keep me from going crazy my first hiatus? (I binged the first 4 seasons last year)

This is awesome!! Thank you! I’m super honored. And do I have recs? Oh yes, I have recs.

First rec isn’t actually a fic, it’s a resource… @theolicitylibrary. If you want recs, they’ve got ‘em. If you want a specific trope or rating or genre, they’ve got that, too. Have a hankering for a fic where Oliver and Felicity are business rivals? There’s a link for that. Where she’s the vigilante instead? There’s a link for that, too. Where one of them is a werewolf? Yup. They’re an amazing resource and you can lose days (and weeks and months) going through lists of alpha/omega tropes and rockstar AUs and friends-to-lovers fics.

But more specifically… how about I rec some authors, too? I haven’t been reading much lately - I spend all my time writing - so I’m more comfortable reccing authors I know are amazing and whose works I’m looking forward to catching up on. They’re all consistently excellent. This is by no means an all inclusive list.

@dust2dust34 - My co-writer for FiCoN and personal fav (though I admit to no small amount of bias). If you want smut and you want details and mining a scene for feelings, Bre is your girl. She has plenty of oneshots to choose from as well as some multichapter fics.

@machawicket - Look, I can’t overstate Danielle’s skills as a writer. My husband doesn’t even read my fic but he likes hers. Her writing is funny, sweet, sexy and heartbreaking in turn but it’ll never leave you unsatisfied. She’s a master.

@anthfan - Nikki is one of those writers that’s so good she makes you forget you’re reading a story, because it’s just something you’re living. It’s an experience. Her characterization is spot-on and her plots are super engaging. She writes both one-shots and longer stories. They’re all worth your time.

@hannasus - Susannah’s writing is the perfect balance of detailed exposition and tight narrative that lets you feel like you’ve experienced the whole setting in just a few lines. Add to that fully in-character characterization and interesting plots that keep you reading and you really can’t go wrong. I recommend reading her Something Like Fate series ASAP as she’s adapted it into the basis for an original novel (which she’s publishing later this year) and it may not be up on AO3 a whole lot longer.

@rosietwiggs - I can always tell Rosie’s work in just a few lines. Her narrative voice is so very distinctive and so gripping that it pulls me in effortlessly. I don’t believe she’s writing for Arrow anymore, but even her unfinished works are worth a read. I especially recommend The New Normal, Lengths and How The Mighty Fall In Love.

@supersillyanddorky06 - I’d be surprised if you hadn’t heard around about Matty’s writing because she’s right at the core of the Olicity fandom’s best known fanfics. With good reason. She’s prolific, plotty, smutty and evocative. If you have a weakness for Bratva!Oliver, I’d start here.

@jsevick - I first met Jaimie after reading her Jurassic Park AU (really!) and being both delighted and amazed that she could make it work. I’m extremely lucky to have had her help as my beta pretty much ever since. If you like my writing, she’s a big part of it (along with @alizziebyanyothername). While she hasn’t posted in a while, her stories are just fun and if you like Gilmore Girls, her Arrow AU for Gilmore Girls is a treat!

@realityisoverrated-fic - I have no idea how you would feel about Smoaking Billionaires, Anon (I personally love it), but I’ve got to very highly recommend her Infinite Love series. At 110 parts and counting, it deals extensively with Oliver, Felicity and Tommy’s family longterm, including their kids. It’s alternately hot, sweet, and heartbreaking. But, most of all, it’s just well-written and interesting. If you’re willing to read them as a triad, I cannot recommend this strongly enough.

@geneeste - I would pay for more of Caught a Long Wind. Quite literally. But, that aside, Genie is a top notch writer. Whether her one-shots, WiPs or brilliant, ongoing epic co-written work with @machawicket, everything she writes should be devoured.

@juliesioux - Julie uses the setting in a story as another character. There’s so much life to the world she puts her characters in that it practically breathes. Above that, she doesn’t shy away from hard topics. She will rush in head-first and dig deep to explore what her characters are going through. When you read her work, take her warnings seriously, but if you’re looking for a rich story to read that challenges you, she’s the perfect option to turn to.

@thatmasquedgirl - One of the most prolific Olicity fic authors (with 110 fics, including the absolute opus Technical Assistance). She’s consistently excellent, creative and she gives us as a fandom a whole lot to read. You can probably spent a huge chunk of hiatus happily buried in her work.

@entersomethingcleverhere - As a rule, I do not read first person stories. Not even when they’re published books sitting on shelves at my bookstore. I will break that rule for her writing. I like it that much. It’s heartfelt, moving, well-paced, and the connections between her characters are both real and evolving as you go.

@arrow-through-my-writers-block - Shelby is… well, she’s just fun! She’s a solid writer who never disappoints. She’s got quite a few one-shots and a few ongoing multi-chapters. She’s probably best known for Starstruck, but all of her work is worth reading.

@wagamiller - I just really love wagamiller’s work. Like a lot. There are very few authors I have on alert, but wagamiller is. Stories that make me laugh out loud are few and far between, but the 35B series surely did (as did @machawicket‘s Unbearable Hotness of Being, btw). Strong, sharp, witty writing that will leave you with a grin on your face.

@callistawolf - When I think of Callie’s work, I think of the fanfic version of sitting down with some hot cocoa and curling up with a warm blanket to watch a Hallmark Christmas special. She’s consistently excellent about finishing her work, which is lovely, and you can pretty much always count on a feel-good romantic ending.

@hopedreamlovepray - Writing one-shots that stick with your reader is hard. Keeping a story to 1-2k and still being impactful is even harder. She absolutely manages it every time. Hope27 (as she’s known on AO3, so you can find her) has something like a hundred Olicity fics. These are, in my opinion, absolutely perfect if you want to lose yourself in a story on the train to work or during your lunch hour.

@dettiot - Mel has a lot of great stories (like really great). My favorite is probably the “ink in my pen ran dry” series, but that’s a really tough call. Core Curriculum is super hot. The Felicity Stark series (crossover with Avengers-verse) is brilliant and fun and made me giddy while reading it. Beauty in the Breakdown is excellent. Jerry the EA series features one of the best takes on a relative OC I’ve read in fics. Love is Red made me squeal like a teenager with excitement (I’m not ashamed; it was warranted). And Two Men, Same Name (written with @melsanfo) is one of those that I am absolutely dying for the time to catch up on. While I’m at it, let’s rec Mel Sanfo, too. Her Masquerade is another novel-length fic absolutely worth a read. You really can’t go wrong with either of these ladies.

@ash818 - Ash is freaking awesome. So, here’s the thing. Her Legacy series is mind-blowingly good. I have to admit, I’ve only read The Man Under The Hood in the series (this is intentional, for a reason you’ll see in a moment, but you need to read all of her work ASAP, okay? You do). This series… you’ve got future, married Olicity with teenage children as they continue their mission. There’s action, plot, heartbreak, angst, love, everything you could want. It’s in first person from their son’s perspective which is something I would probably never have clicked on in the first place had it not come highly recommended, but good lord is it amazing. All of her characters have life. All of them have depth. Her OCs are fully formed and vital to the story without overshadowing characters you already know. I haven’t read the later stories because after I decided to continue on with FiCoN verse, I didn’t want to inadvertently shade my views on Olicity’s growing family and continuing mission with anything she did in her series. If anything I do happens to run parallel to her work, I want to know beyond any doubt that it’s 100% coincidence. But her stories are something I’m absolutely itching to get to read… eventually. Her writing is excellent.

@tinaday3w - I’m tempted to say “JUST READ IT” but that’s probably not enough… But really, just read it. No one does slow burn like Tina. Victorian era AU with pirate!Oliver? Yes, please. Hello. I’ll take two.

@emmilynestill - She’s just so good. And sooooo hot. I don’t know if you know this, Anon, but writing a good sex scene is hard. You don’t want your reader pulled out of the scene by wondering if a position is actually possible or when underwear came off (or if it did) or how gravity isn’t making them collapse. Like… smut is difficult. But it reads so effortlessly with Emmilyne’s writing. And, beyond that, she weaves it in beautifully with plot that keeps you wondering what’s next and emotion that builds and grows in an organic way. Orgasms and organic feelings. Honestly, what else could anyone really want?

@ruwithmeguys - Jess will gut you and leave you asking her to do it again. Indecent Proposal… just… read the warnings and be ready and read it with a lot of time on your hands and probably in chunks because ouch. But still… read it.

@academyofshipping - Sarah has this dry sense of humor that comes out in her fics that’s as clever as it is fun. Fluffy, funny, smart, cute and rich with feeling, Sarah’s writing is consistently strong.

@someonesaidcake - Felice is fantastic for completed, multichapter AU fics. She has quite a few and I’m pretty sure every single one included smut at some point (if that’s your thing) as well as plot.

And… I’ve spent like an hour and a half on this which was a lovely diversion for my day. I know I’m forgetting amazing people but I have to stop here. When in doubt, take the title of a fic you like, google that name in quotes along with “rec list” and find someone’s list where that story was included, then explore the others. Or, check the bookmarks on AO3 of an author you like, that’s a great place to mine for fics, too. And, again, I can’t rec @theolicitylibrary enough. That said… happy reading, Anon! We’ll get through this hiatus together… through fic and sheer force of will. ;-)

Art Museum

Summary: On your day off, you invite Bucky to an art museum. You’re sure he probably wants to spend his time doing something else besides looking at art, but you soon find that his definition of art might be a bit different than yours.

Can you write a fix where Betty and Jughead have gone their separate ways but Betty is jugheads emergency contact still and one day jughead gets into a horrible accident and Betty gets a called.

Okay!
***

Walking out of the dark office she spent Most of her time in, Betty waved at Lucy, the older receptionist with the turquoise glasses and bright red lipstick.

“See you tomorrow Lucy.” She tugged her dark blue windbreaker tight around her shoulders as the white haired woman smiled

“See you tomorrow Dr.Cooper.”

Betty made her way through the sliding glass doors of the Paws and Pets Veterinarian clinic. She was an accomplished veterinarian and everyone in the town knew of her and loved her, she had saved countless hamsters from their untimely death and she could work magic on a Pomeranian with a cold. Her life was steady and exactly where she wanted it, she was due to open her own clinic in Riverdale, just a town over. While Pembrooke was beautiful, Riverdale would always be her home. So sure, she was content, happy even, but still.. something was missing.

The familiar rainforest ringtone snapped Betty out of her daze and she dug in her coat pocket in search of the offending cause of noise, the thick wool gloves she had on made answering the unknown number fairly difficult, with a triumphant “HA” she finally brought the phone to her ear.

“Hello?” The blonde asked confused, she rarely ever got phone calls from unknown numbers, they usually just called the clinic.

“Hello, is this Elizabeth Cooper?” The voice was serious and deep.

“Yes. That’s me , can I ask who’s calling?”

“This is Riverdale Emergency hospital, I’m calling in regards to Jughead Jones, you’re listed as his emergency contact. There’s been an accident, Im going to need..” Betty slammed the phone shut as she hopped in her car, speeding through every red light, that dared come in her way.

After an incredibly anxious fifteen minute ride, Betty slammed through the doors of the hospital, her eyes searching frantically for anyone who seemed to be working at the hospital.

“Hello?!” She called desperately. “Someone please! I need to see Jughead.. Jughead Jones.” She pushed though people, grabbing anyone. Suddenly she felt a warm hand smooth over her shoulder

“You can come with me ms.Cooper.” A middle aged male nurse, tugged her gently towards the waiting area and sat her down, handing her a cup of water and speaking quietly
“Mr.Jones’ doctor will be out very soon, for now, relax here.” He smiled again and walked the opposite way, leaving Betty with shaking hands and wandering thoughts.

Six years. It had been six years since she had heard from Jughead Jones. Six years since they had broken up and promised to keep in touch, but life got in the way, Betty’s schoolwork, Jughead new found popularity after he became a NewYork Times bestselling author. They just drifted apart. That didn’t mean she didn’t own every single copy of every single book he had written, notes scattered in the margins. But here she was, sitting in a hospital waiting for news on her first love, her heart racing in her chest, stomach in knots.

“Elizabeth Cooper?”

She whipped around at the voice and rushed over to the tall man In the doctors scrubs.
“Is he okay? What happened? Can i see him? If you let him die I will sue you for everything, my best friend is Veronica Lodge, best lawyer in all of NewYork.” She threatened, her eyes filling with tears.

“Ms.Cooper, Jughead is fine. He was in a minor motorcycle accident, the extent of his injuries is a broken arm. You can go in and see him.” He stepped aside with a knowing smile and right before Betty breezed past him, she turned around.

“His medical records, are they old? Do you maybe still have his emergency contact from high school?” She questioned, her voice the picture of faux steady and cool.

The doctor smiled softly
“Actually Mr.Jones just came in last month to update his records, he still signed you as his emergency contact.”

Betty stared for a moment longer, her eyes somewhere far away, somewhere colored with leather jackets and strawberry milkshakes, a hidden smile appearing on her face before she raced down the hall.

Slamming the door to his hospital room open, she smiled when she saw him attempting to wrap his flannel over the sling on his arm.

“I hope that’s not your writing hand.” She spoke softly, still causing him to jump and turn quickly, his eyes widening when he saw Betty standing in the doorway.

“Betty?” He asked confused, his eyes wide in awe and looking desperately handsome in his scruffy bearded glory, she was struck by how similar he looked to his father.

“the doctor called. I’m your emergency contact remember?” She smiled and took a seat on the bed beside him.

He groaned and smacked his good hand to his forehead

“This hardly constitutes an emergency, I’m so sorry Betty.” He blushed light pink and looked away.

“Hey.” She brought his attention back to her “ im happy they called me. I don’t know what I would have done if something had happened to you and I didn’t know.. I didn’t..” she trailed off, her fingers moving to dig into her palms, even after all these years she still hadn’t dropped the habit.

Jughead was quick to catch it, just like he always had been, enveloping both of her hands with his.

“I’m okay.” He whispered, eyes burning into hers.

“When they called me I was so scared.. I thought something really bad had happened.. I thought I had lost you and I never even had the Chance…” she trailed off

Jughead brought his fingers to her chin, tilting it up so her eyes met his again

“Had the chance to what?” He urged her to finish, her dark grassy green eyes met his ocean blue and after a second she mumbled something suspiciously similar to
“Oh hell.”
And her lips were on his, his good arm gripping her waist, while her hands buried themselves in his hair. It was like two ships coming to dock. It was one of those lifetime original movie moments. Romeo and Juliet reunited and no one had to die.

When Jughead pulled away he panted, resting his forehead against Betty’s
“I come three times a year to make sure you’re still my emergency contact, I wouldn’t want anyone else but you by my side.” He whispered into the quiet air, his nose nuzzling hers as he breathed in her familiar scent. She was home to him, no matter how long it took he had always known he would come back home.

“Next time you want to see me, just call. You don’t have to get into a motorcycle accident every time. Your insurance will skyrocket.” She giggled and he grinned, pressing his lips to hers again

“You got it Juliet.”

That Little Girl

Pairing: Bucky X Reader (]platonic)

Request: anonymous: Could you write something where Rumlow had a daughter that they had the winter soldier protect and they gave her certain trigger words that disable the soldier mode incase he lost control? Since he’s dead now and she’s still a minor she runs away to find the avengers and gets the trigger words to them to help Bucky. He remembers her and how as a child she would sneak him snacks and how kind she was to him. The team ends up keeping her since she’s a kid with no place to go.

A/N: I find this fic really cute, the idea was great so the story turned out great. Thank you anaon! I am too tired to write ANYTHING anymore, so I’ll just stop. I didn’t wanna use google translate so I sneaked in some hindi in this fic. Please overlook any mistake I couldn’t edit that much. Hope you like it!

It was a usual day for him, for the winter soldier. After being stitched back together and being given the necessary to keep him just alive, he was thrown in his cell again. he didn’t struggle, struggling just made it worse. Struggling was of no use.

He looked up the window from where the moonlight or the sunlight would seep through sometimes, clinking his metal fingers against the bars so the biting silence which waited with its jaws open wouldn’t hurt so much. He was looking down, drumming his fingers when he couldn’t feel the light on his eyes. He looked up and found a child looking curiously at him. why wasn’t she scared?

‘are you the winter soldier?’ she tilted her head and looked at him with her curious (y/e/c) eyes. He was too tired to function, and he wasn’t allowed to talk to anyone, he kept mum and gave her a glare. ‘you have very pretty eyes’ she sat down cross legged and smiled at him. this was new.

‘go away.’ Was all he said.

‘it’s hot, are you hot?’ she asked unaffected by tone which was used with her. boy was he, they never gave him cold water, and the suit didn’t help either. ‘here, I got you an ice cream cone.’ She offered him the bright wrapper treat. He was always on a strict diet, he really wanted to take it, some voice inside him said he had really liked such sweet treats.

‘I can’t.’ He said almost grimly and looked down. ‘go away, or they will hurt me.’ he muttered and then looked at her. ‘you too, maybe.’

‘they won’t, please take it. you will fell nice and cool-‘she heard footsteps and quickly handed it to him. ‘sit in’ she pointed. ‘that corner, they won’t be able to see you there’ she said. ‘bye, wintey!’ she chirped and ran away.

It was an alien experience for him, he wasn’t used to such….. warmth. He hesitated a little but picked the cone up and unwrapped it. And that’s how the winter soldier had an ice-cream for the first time in decades.

Her visits became more frequent, and he wasn’t complaining. She was sweet, she would talk to him, crack weird jokes, bring him snacks, braid his hair, tell him stories, give him drawings of herself and him. it was all nice, he was feeling again. affection does that.

She came back and he eagerly walked to the window, almost forgetting his broken rib. But it didn’t matter, she was here, what was her name..? he didn’t care. He went there and received a little kiss on his cheek, it was the first time she had done that. She fixed her hairband and ran a hand through her (y/h/c) hair.

‘you look very happy, ___’ he looked at her.

‘yeah-‘before she could finish she was picked up by someone. It was Rumlow, he recognized him at once.

‘you slimy, sick, bastard, how dare you even talk to my daughter!’ he growled. Bucky’s ‘handlers’ busted in the room. everything happened so quick, he just couldn’t wrap his head around it all. She was being taken away from him, he struggled, he couldn’t let the little happiness he had left go away. He punched, he kicked but soon; he couldn’t. he was sedated.

‘he’s a bad man, sweetie.’ Rumlow started to walk away and rubbed her back soothingly. Her eyes were fixed on bucky’s and his on her. ‘wintey’ she mouthed with a hint of tears in her eyes. With the last of his strength, he shouted, he called out her name.

‘(Y/N)!!’ bucky shouted and sat up in his bed. he wiped the sweat and realized it was a dream, a repressed memory that found its way back to him. the memory of her, of (y/n), sweet, little, kind (y/n).

You were here, standing in front of the avengers’ base. you wanted to go, you wanted to help him, you wanted to expiate for what your father had done. But you couldn’t find the strength. After a lot of chaos, you made you way to the gates.

‘for him.’ you thought. ‘you were stopped by the guard. ‘I-I am Brock Rumlow’s daughter’ you said with great difficulty and the guard’s eyes gre wide. ‘I am here to help.’ You said and he was quick to make a call.

A call had set everything in a quick motion. What was it? bucky thought. A new mission? A new problem? Nobody would explain him. just pass away after giving him a soft expression.

You were standing in front on earth’s mightiest heroes, while they studied you. you hadn’t felt this conscious in your rugged clothes before.

‘I didn’t know he had a daughter.’ Clint broke the silence as he breathed.

‘he kept it off records, he knew the system quite well.’ Natasha said.

‘kid, we won’t hurt you, but before you tell us more about those codes you talked about, can you tell us how you got here?’ tony asked as he stepped forwards and looked at you. you too a deep breath and nodded.

‘i-I ran away. Dad was the only family member I had. With him gone… I couldn’t take it so I ran away. I don’t know how or what to feel about him. I just want to help,’ you looked up at them. ‘expiate for what my father did.’

‘it’s very brave of you (y/n)’ bruce smiled at you. it indeed was very brave for a teenage girl like you to travel such a great distance all by yourself.

‘where is he?’ you asked. Tony nodded and called steve.

Steve grabbed bucky’s arm and gave him an assuring smile, bucky returned it but he was scared, were they going to do something to him? he shook that thought away and got ready for whatever it was.

Bucky stopped when he saw the girl standing in front of him, same (y/e/c) eyes but less curious and more tired, (y/h/c) still shiny and what they seemed like soft, the same complexion just a little darker because of all the sun you must have been in. it couldn’t be. It couldn’t be you.

‘bucky, this is (y/n).’ steve said and he didn’t care what else he had to say. It was (y/n), his little companion (y/n). the sweet little, but not so little now, (y/n).

‘(y/n)?’ he breathed and you nodded with a familiar smile. ‘(y/n)!’ he moved closer to you and sounded happy. The avengers were very confused at this sight. Bucky wasn’t one to smile, how could he grin like that on seeing the girl?

‘wintey.’ You said rather sheepishly and he scrunched his nose. ‘how are you?’ you tilted your head in the same way.

‘very happy.’ He replied. ‘me too’ you said. ‘why are you here?’ he asked.

‘to help you.’ you answered. ‘your programming, I can undo it. you were once sent to protect me. I had a code which could bring you to the ‘neutral’ state if you were to lose control.’ You explained and everyone listened carefully.

‘buck, do you wanna do it?’ steve asked. Codes. The words did something to him he couldn’t explain. He was scared but it was you, you wouldn’t hurt him, would you?

‘I do.’ bucky looked steve in the eyes and then looked at you. ‘you won’t hurt me. I just know.’ He said and you nodded.

‘it’s a very powerful code and it was made in hindi. you might feel dizzy or faint.’ You said and he nodded understandingly. ‘okay.’ You smiled and took in a sharp breath. Everyone took a defensive position without looking too obvious.

‘dard.’ You said and his breathing hitched. ‘dost.’ He felt something flooding back to him. ‘vardi.’ He sat down, breathing heavily and steve and others stood by him. ‘loha.’ He felt a sting. ‘insan.’ Everything around him started spinning. ‘andhera.’ There wasn’t enough oxygen. ‘aatman.’ His eyes started to close. ‘shaanti.’ His eyes closed and you stood close to him.

‘what happened?! Is he okay!?’ steve asked and everyone looked at you.

‘he is. Let him sleep. he will wake up, things will start getting better.’ You smiled at him and lightly patted his hand.

17 hours. It took him 17 hours to wake up. steve greeted him with a tired smile when he rose from his bed.

‘how do you feel?’ steve asked.

‘light.’ Bucky replied after thinking a little. He rubbed his face ‘what happened?’

‘when (y/n) said the last word-‘

‘where’s she?’ he asked as the memory came back to him.

‘oh, here for now, sleeping on the floor in the living room.’ he replied and scoffed. ‘weirdly cute kid, said everything else was-‘

‘too soft.’ He interrupted and steve nodded. he quickly made his way to find you. upon reaching the common room he found you peacefully curled up on the floor with your old backpack. He ran to your side and sat down next to you. god, you had grown so much.

Your eyes shot open and you sat up to face him. your father had trained you well.

‘oh, it’s you.’ you rubbed your eyes.

‘yeah, it’s wintey.’he grinned and you chuckled.

‘I was a kid.’ You muttered.

‘you kinda still are.’ He shrugged.

‘not really,’ you stood up and he followed. ‘I have to be all grown up now.’ You gave him a tight smile and hung your bag. ‘bye, I gotta go, was just waiting to see if you are okay. I hope you have a great life-‘

‘nuh-uh. You are not leaving me again. you’re not going anywhere.’ He pointed. ‘but-‘

‘you can stay here, kiddo.’ Steve was leaning against the door frame. ‘we got plenty of rooms.’

‘thank you. but i-‘ you couldn’t speak anymore for bucky had pulled you in a tight embrace. When was the last time you got a hug?

‘nope, not going anywhere.’ He mumbled in your hair.

‘thanks.’ Your muffled voice came out. He pulled away and had a grateful look. ‘thank you,’ he kept a hand on your cheek. ‘for everything you did.’ he ruffled your hair.

Luckily, Willy lived in the same building as you, only a couple floors down. You knocked on the door and waited a couple seconds. You’re looking down, playing with your hands. Tears still falling but your arm muscles are tired from reaching up to stop them. There’s a strange feeling in your mind. It’s blank. Not being able to create a thought.

The door swings open taking you by surprise. A gust of wind blowing your hair over your shoulders. You jump back a slight bit. A flash moving by your vision and immediately you feel a body wrap around you, a hard chest at your face. Fresh air replaced with a smokey cologne.

You woke to the feeling of soft kisses being feathered down the side of your face, across your closed eyelids and your nose.

You hummed, content with your current position in Sehun’s arms, with his bare body pressed against your own.

“Baby, I have to leave,” you heard him whisper. You opened your eyes to look at him. The the way the moonlight shone on Sehun was one of your favourite things. He was undeniably beautiful.

“I don’t want you to go,” you mumbled, holding onto him tighter resulting in him doing the same. The hardest part of being with Sehun was the time when he had to leave you.

So how about Magnus who has used all of his energy and is so burned out that he just physically (or mentally) can’t function?

(TYSM for the prompt! Also tagging @andy-selfish-quinn as the reason this got written today – much love to you both <3)

Alec had been at Magnus’ loft for several hours by the time his boyfriend - his fiancé, he reminded himself - opened the front door, key grating in the lock, dropped his things on the floor with unnecessary noise and drama, and stumbled into the living room.

That was Alec’s first clue that something was going on. When did Magnus ever use something as mundane as a key for something as banal as entering his own home?

“Hey,” Alec called out, from the kitchen, when Magnus didn’t say anything. “I’m making coffee—do you want any?”

A muffled jumble of incoherent syllables met Alec’s ears, and his brow furrowed. Was Magnus on the phone to a client, or to a friend? That would have explained the lack of response, but Alec couldn’t hear the hum of voices.

He finished making his coffee, and left it on the side in the kitchen along with a book Magnus had insisted he read (he was halfway through, and horribly, horribly addicted, much to Jace’s amusement) while he headed out to the hallway to investigate.

Magnus was on the floor.

For just a second, Alec’s heart rate skyrocketed, fluttering painfully against his ribcage in a moment of blinding, agonising fear at the thought of Magnus being hurt, or worse—

But the tight band around his lungs eased when he saw Magnus’ chest rising and falling steadily, if a little heavily. His eyelids fluttered, and he turned his head to look at Alec from where he was sitting on the floor, back to the wall, head lolling a little.

“Are you becoming reacquainted with the floorboards?” Alec asked, still feeling mildly concerned, but less so by the moment. Especially when Magnus’ lips turned up, and he made a concerted effort to put as much exasperation as he could into his eye roll.

“I’m burnt out,” Magnus murmured, words slightly slurred.

I finally got around to finishing this one, hope you guys like it! It’s a long one!

“You ready?” Joe asked, checking the mic for the last time.

“Yep!” You responded, scooting over a tiny bit so that Joe could join you on the bed.

“Alright I’m gonna do the intro, do you want to explain it?”

“Yeah that works for me!”

It wasn’t often that you and Joe filmed videos together – he had always preferred for his personal life to stay private, but after Jack had accidentally outed the two of you in a vlog a few months back, Joe had grown more open to the idea of you on his channel. Not to mention that his fans absolutely loved seeing the two of you together.

“Hello everyone, today I’m joined with my girlfriend Y/N as you can see. Now, since we’ve been dating I’ve pranked her a few times, and she’s gotten me back each time, and in doing so, she’s proven herself to be quite the prankster herself. So today, I thought we were going to put our pranking abilities to the test with some good ole prank calls.”

“So, we’ve put all our friend’s names in this hat here, and whoever we pull is who we have to call and pretend that the two of us have gotten into a fight. The rules are we have to try and get whoever it is to be on our side of the argument, and if we do, we get the point,” you explained, giving the camera a thumbs up. The hat consisted of all the buttercreams, Alfie and Zoe, since they knew the two of you best.

“Rock paper scissors for who goes first?” Joe offered. You nodded and proceeded to lose, so he pulled a piece of paper out from the hat first.

“Ohhh, I’ve got Oli. Ughhh this is gonna be so hard, he bloody loves you!” Joe groaned. You grinned at the camera, getting excited.

You both waited as he rang Oli, listening to the tone until he picked up.

Oli: Ello!
Joe: Ello, alright?
Oli: Yeah, you?
Joe: Eh, I’ve been better. Are you busy?
Oli: Nah, I’m just at mine, what’s going on?
Joe: I’m in a bit of trouble…
Oli: Oh bloody hell, what’ve you done?
Joe: Nothing too serious, it’s about me and Y/N
Oli: Go on…

The Devil And The Deep Blue Sea

Ford’s breath caught in his throat. His mind reeled, searching for an excuse, a bluff, anything to get them back on track. Stan could have managed it. Perhaps under different circumstances Ford could have too. If that smile wasn’t so familiar. If the grip on his wrists wasn’t so tight. But try as he might, his mind remained blank.

“I … don’t know what you mean,” he said.  His tone hovered somewhere between confusion and bravado. It wouldn’t fool anyone.

He should have brought a weapon. Something to remember for next time, if there was one. Note to self: don’t listen to children who complain about how a high-caliber plasma blaster would ruin the outline of his suit.

“Tell me, Stanford,” said Doctor Smith. “Do I look like an idiot?”

“No?” Ford replied. You look like a triangle, he thought, and almost giggled at how absurd that would sound if he said it.

“Really?” Doctor Smith straightened up and stood back, crossing his arms. “Then how did you expect me to fall for your transparent little scheme? Did you think I wouldn’t suspect?”

“I … suspect what?” said Ford. He could feel his heart picking up, a drumbeat of terror slicing straight through him. Did he know? Did he suspect? If he knew where Nuala’s skin was truly hidden … if Stan was in danger—

“I knew what you were here for from the beginning. You wanted to steal Sarah away from me!”

“That’s preposterous!” Ford blustered, hoping that he could pass the quaver in his voice off as anger. “Now unhand me or I—”

Doctor Smith laughed, and it was cultured and germane and terrible as his situation was Ford felt himself breathing easier. It wasn’t a cackle. It wasn’t like—he almost thought “his Bill” and felt the bile rise at the back of his throat. It wasn’t like Bill Cipher. This was just a man. No more powerful than him.

Imagine you're an unhelpful husband

You sit on the couch, idly watching the basketball game. It’s not really a great game if you’re being honest, but it’s the only thing on TV during a slow night. You go to take another sip of your beer and finish the can, crumpling it up and placing it next to you on the couch.

You hear the garage door open as your wife comes inside huffing and puffing. She slowly made her to the kitchen and you hear her put the groceries on the counter. “Hey, can you help me bring the rest of the bags in?” she says as she waddles into the living room. Her maternity top is stretched tightly around her eight-months-pregnant belly and she’s already sweating.

“Ahhh, give me like ten minutes babe. The game just got really good!” you reply. It hadn’t, to be honest, but you really didn’t want to move at the moment. She gives you a death glare and waddles back to the garage in a huff. “And get me another beer!” you call.

She’s gone for longer than usual, but comes back in and hands you a cold can. “Here,” she mutters before heading back to the kitchen. You go to take a sip- she already cracked it for you! What a great wife. The cold liquid sweetly flows down your throat. You look at the can incredulously. This tasted incredible… certainly nothing like the normal swill! You eagerly gulp down the rest of the beer and set it next to you on the couch.

A few moments later, you start to feel funny. Your eyes begin to droop and your vision blurs as the TV starts to change colors. “Woah…what the…” you murmur. The world begins to spin as your eyes grow heavier and heavier. You pass out on the couch, slipping into unconsciousness.

You don’t really know how much time passes- it could have been seconds, or weeks, or years. You start to groggily awaken, your vision slowly coming back as you regain clarity. “Ughhh,” you groan softly. Your body feels heavy and cumbersome and your head is pounding.

“Hi honey,” you hear your wife’s voice say sweetly. You try to focus on her form as she stands in front of you.

“Wha…ugh…what just happened?” you ask, rubbing your eyes. Your body is still heavy and you feel pinned down to the couch. You blink rapidly as you gaze upon your wife. She’s standing in front of with a smirk, her hands on her skinny hips. Wait a moment… she wasn’t pregnant! Her midsection was flat and toned like it used to be.

“Woah! You’re-what happened to the baby?” you cry, trying to stand up. You manage to get up by about two inches before falling back to the couch. You look down to your lower half. Sitting in your lap is perfectly round, swollen belly and two perky breasts are perched on top.

“Aw, what’s the matter, sweetie? Can’t get up?” your wife asks. You look down at your body incredulously, placing both hands atop your swollen mound. No, this couldn’t be real… there was no way this was happening. Yet your skin responds to your touch and it feels so lifelike as it sits heavily on top of your legs. You feel a flutter inside you at the same moment a lump appears on your skin. Your eyes go wide.

“Ah, yes, kicks are wonderful the first time you feel them! Just wait until she kicks you right in the rib,” your wife says, placing a hand on your belly and rubbing softly. You can’t speak, still trying to process what just happened.

“What…how…what the hell?!” you cry. No, this couldn’t be happening! You’re a man! And your wife is pregnant, not you! How the hell could this even happen? You had to be dreaming.

Your wife laughs and takes a seat beside you on the couch, putting her hand back on your baby bump. “Well you see, honey, do you remember all those times you blew me off these past eight months? When you never vacuumed, or cleaned, or cooked, or even offered to help me as our child grew inside me? You are such an asshole. I was suffering and you couldn’t even be bothered to stop watching a stupid basketball game to get up and help me. Were you even going to do anything when the baby finally got here?!” she cried, her face growing angrier and angrier with each passing word. She took a deep breath and calmed herself, but her eyes still stared daggers through you.

“When we got married, I debated whether or not I should tell you that I was a witch. Then I got pregnant and you became totally useless. So I started working on a potion about three months ago. It took forever to make, and I’m honestly surprised I could even figure it out. So many variables to consider…” she trailed off, clicking her tongue. “Anyway, I finally finished it two days ago and was debating whether I could actually go through with it. Then you made me carry in all those groceries by myself, and I knew it was the right decision. So, long story short, you’re 36 weeks pregnant, I’m not, the baby is in you now, and you’re going to give birth in a month,” she finished.

Your head spun as you tried to process this. You were still convinced this was a joke. There was no way this could actually be happening. A sharp pain suddenly manifested in your ribs. You hissed and doubled over, both hands involuntarily clutching your belly. That felt so real…

“This is real, sweetie,” your wife said with a chuckle. “I know what you’re thinking. This is not a dream. Come with me, I think I can help you figure this out,” she said, pinching your popped out belly button as she hopped up. She pulled you off the couch and you wobbled as you tried to stand. Your belly was so heavy as it hung off your midsection. It felt like a dead weight just sitting there. Your breasts sat perky and full on your chest and jiggled slightly as you tried to find your balance.

“Follow me. And take your time- we don’t want you falling and hurting your precious cargo,” your wife said with a smile as she walked to the door. You tried to follow her and found you were forced into a slow waddle. A hand immediately went to back as it already started to ache.

“Now, like I said, I made a very complex potion that required a TON of rare ingredients and lots of careful planning. I’d say it was my finest accomplishment as a witch. So, just to make sure you really would learn your lesson, I made a few…changes… to our living situation,” she said as she opened the door. She stepped out onto the porch and you followed her outside.

The world around you looked the same. Everything was the right color and the air felt warm. Your neighborhood looked exactly the same, and the car parked in your driveway still had a scratch on the side.

“Hi Mr. Keller!” your wife called. You look across the street to your neighbor’s house. Mr. Keller stood outside. His brown hair looked the same from here, but he sported a perfectly round belly, just like you. He idly rubbed the mass as he watered the flowers. He was wearing a flowing green maternity dress, big and loose enough to comfortably accommodate his growing passenger.

“Hey you two! Great weather today!” he called back. Your eyes widened again and your felt sick.

“See, honey, in this world, men are the ones who get pregnant. Matter of fact, they’ve always been the ones who got pregnant! Nobody here has ever heard of a woman having a baby. It’s just silly. And, since I created this reality, I wanted to make sure I could really make this as great for me as possible. Husbands here don’t work- when they get married, they stay at home and take care of the house. Most men get pregnant as soon as possible, or at least when their wife gets a good job.” she explained happily. You had no words and had to stumble back inside, leaning against the wall as you tried to process this. The baby kicked again and settled in a new position. You suddenly had to pee.

“And, of course, there has to be a way for a baby to get in and out of there, you know?” your wife says as she comes back through the door and pats your rounded belly. “So there’s some, ah, changes to your equipment,” she smirks, reaching down to your crotch. She brushes her hand between your thighs and you realize that there’s nothing down there. No cock, no balls, nothing- just an interesting feeling between your legs. You realize what this means and you start to cry. This was too much.

“Shhhh, honey, it’s okay…” your wife says, taking your hand and rubbing your bump. “…I’ll make sure you have fun tonight.” She guides your hand to her own nether regions and you feel the unmistakable outline of a huge dick. Tears roll down your face as the baby gave another kick. You were in hell.

We're the Ones Who Live: Richonne One Shots Chapter 15: Married at First Sight, a walking dead fanfic | FanFiction
A prompt inspired by @RiseupRichonne on Tumblr. A married at first sight fic set in an AU zombie universe. Rick and Michonne are the adult children of the leaders of Alexandria and the Kingdom. Their parents are sure that the pair is a match made in heaven. Michonne wonders what the future holds as they spend their first night together.

“You’re sure about this?”

“Rick, you’ve asked me that at least a dozen times now.”

“And I still haven’t gotten a convincing answer, Michonne,” he implored. His blue eyes seemed to glow preternaturally in the low light of his bedroom. Their bedroom, she realized with a start.

“The sooner we do this, the sooner it will be over with,” she lowered herself nervously to the bed, layers of tulle and lace gathering beneath her. She would never have chosen such a garish dress for herself. Unfortunately, her input had mattered little when it came to the subject of her wedding. The man in front of her, her husband, had been vetted and selected with careful consideration. Both his parents and hers were in complete agreement as to their compatibility. She had only met him a handful of times before, on trades and group runs. They’d never exchanged more than a few words at a time.

“We don’t have to do anything,” his twang was unfamiliar to her ears, but oddly comforting nonetheless. He sat beside her, his tuxedo clad leg brushing hers.

“Except get married,” she did not mean to say it, but the words slipped from her lips before she could stop them.

Surprisingly, he laughed, the mirth evident on his face. “Crazy world, ain’t it?”

She was inclined to agree. Still, insulting the man she was meant to spend her life with did not seem like the best option. “I didn’t mean to offend…”

“No offense taken,” he assured her, loosening his tie. He had tanned, calloused hands, the hands of a man who was used to working outside. The sight of them was reassuring. Perhaps he would not mind her callouses. “My parents said they used to do things like this in some places in the world, even before the turn.” He continued, studying the tie that was now draped across his lap.

“Apparently, it was effective,” Michonne smiled gently at him. “Otherwise, why continue it?” She fiddled nervously with her own fingers, suddenly wanting to be rid of the dress, back with the familiar weight of her katana swung across her back.

“We have to repopulate the world. I guess it takes some coercing,” Rick chuckled wryly to himself. “Still, they could have given us a moment.”

“Sometimes we don’t get a moment, not in this world.” Michonne did not know why, but she was echoing the argument her mother had used against her when this plan had been announced.

“I guess that’s true,” Rick looked thoughtful. “Still, we don’t have to get started on it tonight. Not if you don’t want to.” Michonne studied him. She’d never much looked at him in their limited interactions before now. There was little time to focus on anything but survival when you were outside of the walls of any settlement. Rick had always handled himself confidently on the road. She saw now that his confidence extended beyond just work.

“Would you want to?” Michonne questioned him, amused by his seeming lack of nerves. She was impressed, truth be told. He was handling the situation with a grace she admired. She imagined he could have had his pick of Alexandrian women. Now, he was hers. He did not seem bothered by it.

Rick shrugged, a slight blush creeping up his lightly stubbled cheeks. He’d been clean shaven this morning when they said their vows. All four communities had shown up, bells on. It wasn’t every day that the communities intermarried, and certainly not two people who were so prominent. Still, prestige had not earned Michonne the right to pick her own partner. She’d been paired with a fighter as strong as she was, at least according to her parents. Rick was a survivor. Now, they would start a new generation of survivors.

“It wouldn’t be so bad,” he grinned lightly at her, his eyes raking teasingly over her. She flushed beneath her dark skin, but couldn’t help her amusement.

Happy thing for Imperial Problem Child-verse. Luke and the Rogues manage to find out from the Vode (roughly) when Anakin's birthday is. Cue a joint mission between the Rogues, the Vode, and some very bemused Imperials to surprise Vader with a bunch of birthday presents. (No, not you, Luke. We're supposed to head to Imperial Center next and no one wants you that close to the Emperor.)

awwww

He’s on his way to meditate in the hyperbaric chamber when the first transmission arrives.
“From the Carriers, sir,” says the officer, straight-faced as he indicates Luke’s messengers’ inadvertent code name. “It’s labeled as being for your eyes only, sir.”

He waits until he’s in his chambers and activates the message. It’s Antilles – not that he would admit to knowing each Rogue by name now – with the expression that usually means that Luke has done something foolish again. Slightly concerned, he hits “play”.
Right, so this is going to be awkward no matter how we slice it, but you mean a lot to our Commander – even if he hasn’t quite figured out how to tell you that yet – and you did pull our butts out of the fire a few times, so here we go! Er…we’re sending you some things. Not coordinates, what do we look like, traitors? Just…things. Because it’s your birthday. Bye!”

Attached to the message is a small data chip. It’s a little scorched and battered, as though it has been through a fire. At first, it won’t play at all, but there are few mechanics who can out-do the man formerly known as Anakin Skywalker, and it only takes him an hour to restore it. He sets it into a control panel and projects its contents onto a screen.

They’re pictures. One is Cliegg Lars and – he stops and the screen is blurry for an instant – it’s his mother’s wedding day. She’s wearing a stone on a bit of twine around her wrist: a “bracelet” he made for her when he was six.
Hurriedly, he skips to another picture. He recognizes the couple as Owen and Beru, looking only a little older than the one and only time he met them. Between them is a tiny, round infant with wide and very confused blue eyes.

Luke.

They’re all of Luke, after that first one. He makes several copies of each, just in case, determined not to lose these.

The second message comes when they’re halfway to Imperial Center. He recognizes the frequency, it’s the old comm channel he and the original 501st used during the Clone Wars. It opens into a hologram of thirty grizzled clones in armor with fierce grins and – oh dear. Was that Lando Calrissian and Princess Leia in armor with them? That was probably a bad sign.
Hey General,” Rex says, ignoring Appo’s scandalized whisper that General is not his proper rank anymore, “You got enough on your plate today. Me and the boys are paying a little visit to a little “friend” of yours.”
He means we’re going to blow up that slimeball Xizor’s skyhook,” Leia translates archly, “You’re welcome, by the way.”

They’re in orbit over Imperial Center and he’s headed for his shuttle when he notices activity near his private hangar. Suspicious, he changes course and senses several nervous stormtroopers scurrying away as quickly as they can. He enters his hangar and discovers that nothing of his has been touched – he didn’t really expect anything different: the soldiers don’t have death-wishes after all – but there are two crates near his TIE Advanced that weren’t there before. Inside he finds several modifications for both the TIE and the shuttle that were supposed to go to one of Moff Jerjerrod’s construction projects.

“Really, sir?” asks the Admiral with his patented look of wide-eyed innocence when confronted with his signature on the shipping forms, “My goodness, there must have been a terrible mistake at the depot. They really must see about hiring more competent people. Poor Jerjerrod, he’ll be so disappointed.”

“Indeed,” answers Vader in a very skeptical tone, but he leaves it at that. He’s due on the surface anyway.

The meeting with the Emperor goes…poorly. As they do even in the best of times. He is weary and in pain when he finally returns to the Executor, and he shuts himself in his chambers with strict orders that he is not to be disturbed.
There is one message waiting for him.
He’s not sure he wants to check it this close to the Emperor, so he waits until they are in hyperspace.

It’s a small, private holo-recording of his son, looking supremely bashful and sitting in a non-descript room somewhere.
Hello, Father,” he says shyly, and already Vader’s mood is improving, “Um…I don’t know when this message will get to you, but you’ve probably figured out what we’re up to by now. Don’t be mad at Rex, okay? I made him tell me. It’s…it’s kind of a big thing, you know. Birthdays. I mean, I get why you probably didn’t want to remember yours before but…”

He trails off and looks directly at Vader. “But we’re a family now. Kind of. A weird one, but a family. So I want to know these things. It’s…important to me.” There’s a hint of faint voices from Luke’s end of the recording, and muffled crashes. Luke’s hand covers the projector a moment, then he peeks between the fingers.

Ah, no. We have incoming and it’s not your guys. I gotta go!” Then, all in a rush, “HappybirthdayFatherIloveyou!”

Vader replays that part of the recording seven times, end to end.
