if i get a 84 or something or higher i get an a

This week’s TM highlights:

  • Opens with a Very Dramatic nerf fight
  • “We can show someone googling themselves on the internet, right?” “Well, safe search.”
  • “First question is for Matt.” “Oh, god. Hi.”
  • Matt had Raishan’s next few rounds planned before Keyleth cast the spell.
  • If VM hadn’t gotten to Raishan when they did, Matt considered having her leave and just be out in the world, maybe reappearing in the next campaign.
  • Matt on Grog’s version of beat poetry: “You just… literally beat a poet.”
  • Raishan was Matt’s favorite Conclave member to portray because of all the non-combat interactions
  • Travis grills Liam on the Superbowl after learning he spent it at a vegan Mexican restaurant drinking a spicy margarita. Liam eventually manages to pull out the word “Patriots”.
  • “I fucked it up, god damn you, Andrew from Crit Role Stats!”
  • Vax has found his family, and it’s not Syldor. He’s not looking to get closer to his dad; to him, it’s a done deal and he’s moved on.
  • Travis: “Hahaha, I find myself hilarious.”
  • Sam shows up half an hour late. “Sorry I’m late… but it’s kind of my thing.”
  • Liam calls out Sam for making jokes about wanting one of their characters to die… and then constantly moping in the text thread in the week after Scanlan died
  • Sam’s made it through the first hour of 84 so far. “I mean, I watched the part where they were saving my life and crying about me.” He did actually get choked up over Grog’s song while he was watching it at work.
  • Liam points out that Sam is “the worst kind of foodie” and once critiqued a picture of the pancakes Liam made for his kids.
  • Sam: “I think it would be fun for one of us to die. I just don’t want it to be me!”
  • They show an extended scene from the episode (Grog’s offering) and when they cut back Travis is chin-handsing and batting his eyelashes while everyone else pretends to be asleep
  • Travis gave a lot of thought to how Scanlan’s permadeath would’ve affected Grog. “Pike and Scanlan would be the two things that would just crumble him.” He spent the whole week thinking about Grog’s contribution to the ritual and practiced what he’d say whenever he had quiet moments.
  • If it had failed, Grog might’ve tried the deck.
  • Someone asks if Vax would’ve jumped in on the ritual if Kaylie hadn’t: Liam thinks Vex is closer to Scanlan than Vax is, so if Kaylie hadn’t stepped in, much as he cares about him, Vax still likely wouldn’t have stepped in because he didn’t think Scanlan would’ve answered his call.
  • Sam had no complicated list of demands to get Scanlan back, just how he thought it could or should go
  • Travis was prepared for the possibility of losing the knuckles and the belt. “He was my friend before that.”
  • “If the beard is unattuned–” “That is an amazing sentence.”
  • Scanlan will probably rethink his approach to combat, but Sam isn’t quite sure how that’s going to shake out yet
  • Talks Machina: It’s About Scientology
  • Matt re: the ashes: “Some things are just journeys in learning to trust occasionally…”
  • Matt suggests a post-mortem Talks Machina episode on the entire Conclave arc
  • Critical Role is going to WonderCon this year
  • Grog considers himself a talented magician and the cleverest tactician (Liam: “Sometimes that’s true.”)
  • If the group had gone through Scanlan’s stuff: “It would’ve mostly been weird smut.”
  • Everyone points out that they don’t know enough in-character to feel they should do more than just keep an eye on Scanlan for now
  • Travis on Groon v2: “I’M FUCKING STOKED! …I’m really excited.”
  • Sam doesn’t know how Scanlan was left at the end of the episode, and everyone tells him to not watch the rest of the episode so he can just find out live (”…something about pudding? I saw some strange fanart that I don’t know how to…” “Don’t worry about it.”)

After Dark: the site was down again (verrrrrry glad I’m on a free trial here, because that’s two weeks in a row), but @loquaciousquark recorded all but the first few minutes of it live and sent me the video file right after it was done, because she is magical that way.

  • The armor Matt wears in the opening is the armor he wore in Mythica
  • Sam wants to recreate Hot Pepper Gaming with Liam on their podcast. Travis wants to be the live studio audience.
  • Everyone discusses their various and sundry bizarre live-action turns. Expect to see people digging up clips on all social media in the next few weeks.
  • Sam jokes about a political arc following the Chroma Conclave. “Grog could be Speaker of the House.” Brian: “Grog has a higher intelligence than the real Speaker of the House.”
  • Liam’s son ran a little D&D game for him that ended with the reveal that he was making it all up as he went, which Liam figures is pretty much how D&D is supposed to go.
  • Grog was definitely taken aback by Vax’s sincerity—when playing Grog, Travis is constantly trying to find the joke in things, and Vax’s words were so genuine that Travis got emotional and kind of shut down and had nothing to reply with, which he figures is exactly how Grog would respond.
  • Kima and Allura probably would’ve survived, just because Allura had eight hours of water-breathing at her disposal, but it would’ve taken a long time before they managed to get back home (a Gilligan’s Island-type setup).
  • Brian goes around shaking everyone’s hands, but Travis grabs him and yanks him down with him, and then the crew starts firing nerf darts at them to end the episode.
Australian Universities

There are a load of posts floating around about university/college life in the US but I wanted to talk about how my experience of university in Australia differs from that. I wanted to write this so that Australian studyblrs know what their study future may look like, so that anyone considering moving to Australia to pursue higher education can get a feel for what the differences are, and more generally so that people in the US in particular have a greater understanding of the way things work in Australia.

i. I might have switchblade fingers and a barb-wired mouth,
but don’t think for one second
that you’re so far removed from the likes of me.
Come off that tall pedestal where you sit,
all high and mighty and deserving.
Come join me in the gutter— join me where we really belong.
We’re Minyards, remember?
And Minyards don’t get higher than rock bottom.
What? Does it hurt to hear me say it?
Look me in the eyes, brother, I’ll say it again:
We’re Minyards.
And Minyards don’t get higher than rock bottom.
An entire childhood apart doesn’t mean anything,
can’t defer DNA or change who we are.
We share so many things already— Just look at our faces.
Study the sharp angles we share,
the laugh we mirror,
the nightmares we divvy up.
We’re not so different, you and I.
Me, with my barb-wired mouth.
You, with your salt-rimmed lips.
My gasoline voice is perfect
for your wildfire words.
We’re the perfect match
for a world on fire.
Now climb down from your high horse, brother.
You’re not as great as you pretend to be.
You’re a Minyard.
And Minyards aren’t good for anything
other than showing the rest of the world
what a bad influence looks like.

ii. ( But while we were busy lighting the world on fire,
we didn’t notice that we were burning in our own wake.
You can feel it, too, can’t you?
Tell me you can feel it, too. )

iii. I won’t try to make you understand.
I know when I’m preaching to the choir,
and this is not a conversation I will ever be willing to have with you.
You can’t change how people are.
But, I will say this:
I see the way you look at her when you think people aren’t looking.
( I see it, because I’ve been there, too. )
There’s a softness in your eyes that wasn’t there before;
a warmth in your laughter
that I’m sure not even you have heard in years.
I think you’ve been lost for a while now,
and you might have stumbled upon someone
that you can comfortably call Home.
She’s something holy to you, this seraphic being,
but even you’re confused,
because you didn’t consider yourself religious before she came along.
She’s everything light and pure and good and—
You’re scared. You’re so scared.
When you’re scared, you touch the ring resting on your finger.
You might not notice it, but I do.
That ring means safety for you. She means safety for you.
She’s a promise for better, happier days.
It’s like she’s a candle,
And you’re afraid of the dark.
And oh, how terrified of the night you are.
( I know. I know, because I’ve been there, too. )
I won’t try to make you understand.
But I know how that feels.
I know how you feel, Aaron.
And he does, too.
I won’t get in the way of your happiness.
Do me a favor and don’t get in the way of mine.

iv. You’re not afraid of telling people how you feel.
( Except, that’s not true at all, is it? )
No, you’re terrified of letting people in.
You’re a boy with a wolf trapped in your chest,
and it’s growling and snapping at your ribcage,
spilling blood and moving organs around.
( I know. )
( I know, because I’ve been there, too. )
I can see it sometimes.
It shows in your eyes on Wednesday afternoons.
Flashes over your face before you reach for pills or dust or booze.
Always drowning it out,
always looking for a distraction,
a coupe de grâce,
a deliverance from evil.
You’ve got this wild thing inside you.
But instead of asking for help, you just say,
“I’m tired. Just tired. Just tired.”
Nod and smile.
Sell the lie.
“Just tired. Just tired.”
You’re being mauled from the inside out.
You’re being torn to pieces and you don’t even care.
I think it’s time to start acting like you do.

v. ( I’m sorry, too.
More than I can express with words.
We deserved better.
We deserved so much better. )

anonymous asked:

Why do you get so mad every time someone points out the colossus as armin? Its in his hands now and we all know isayama associates the colossus with him, he even drew picture of armin with the colossal titan behind him which he has never done to bertholt, its obvious that since the beginning he always wanted armin to inherit the titan and he also seems to be very excited to write about him and his titan form.

I can’t tell if it’s a desperate tentative to make up for your inability to distinguish Bertolt’s features in the Colossal, to see Armin literally everywhere just like any other crackpot theoretician on this hellsite claiming to be serious, or to make up for the poor hits his birthday tag engendered, showing only a few people care about his character.

Even I didn’t believe it would be such a disaster. Erwin’s birthday proved his character didn’t die in the heart of the fans but if Armin’s birthday proved something, it’s that no matter how many power ups you get and your dream getting realized, it will have the opposite effect. Kinda funny actually. It’s like people predicting the Marley arc was going to be a popularity drop when the sales number of Vol. 23 (regular edition) was higher than the sales number of Vol. 22.

But yeah, let’s face it: Isayama has sketches of Bertolt on his study, keeps associating the Colossal to Bertolt, owns a goddamn body pillow of his image, his merch sells well, human form or otherwise, and the number of bouquets, fanarts derived from the recent merch indicate Bertolt, alongside Reiner, will rank high in popularity. Doesn’t help canon is developing the aftermath of Reiner and Bertolt’s relationship at the moment.

No matter how much you want your delusions to come true, you gonna smash the hard facts in your head: Armin didn’t, doesn’t, and will never replace Bertolt in terms of strength, or popularity for that matter.

i’m surprised armin’s popularity sank due to what happened on the roof but not eren’s.. why do jpn fandom like him so much i don’t get it -_-

No idea either. Some JP fans were disappointed in Eren when 84 was out but I feel like his main flaws were either brushed aside, or woobified for their yaoi ships, or accepted because his flaws make Eren interesting (he’s still my favorite out of the trio)… And he got a new look in this arc, with a brand new attitude, and an older brother. That might contribute.

Armin sinking in popularity is more due to a disinterest than a complete hatred of the character. From last year’s October (Ch. 86) to February (Ch. 90), Armin was only portrayed as a victim of the circumstances, while the focus was on Eren and his family issues, over an existential crisis. The ocean scene was hastily written on purpose: it was that easy to reach and not that rewarding considering the readership already seen it in Grisha’s flashbacks and Paradis is surrounded by enemies.

Bitterness also counts: Erwin died, Bertolt died, but Armin got to live. Ignorance and lack of concern can be interpreted as a passive-aggressive tactic.

Also 84. "I can't believe you talked me into this" with Logan and Patton? Or Virgil and Patton? :D -cinnamonrollpatton

TW: none that I can think of but just shoot man ask and I’ll fic it

Word Count: 543

Prompt: I can’t believe you talked me into this.

Notes: I’ve never actually been skydiving so I have no idea how accurate this is; also, I suck at fluff but I tried

@fugitive-angel @netzoflix @paragonofsophistication @angsty-anxxiety @kentato-kenreblog @hells-angel-hevens-demon @antisocialili @saltequeen @theanxofthethomas @irish-newzealand-idian-dutch @ninjas-forever @cinnamonrollpatton

Logan stared at the clouds as they passed below them, wondering, not for the first time, if Virgil had been right to stay on the ground.

His stomach churned over again as he tried to calculate the distance to the ground. As the numbers got higher, the sight began to swim faster and faster in front of his eyes. He sat down heavily and stared at the wall, trying to regain his balance.

I can’t believe you talked me into this.

Patton grinned in front of him, looking at the instructor. “Come on, Logan, you said you’d do anything I wanted today. It’ll be fun!”

“You say that about so many things that aren’t fun.” For instance, the anniversary before last, Patton had decided they go bungee jumping and that was the exact opposite of fun for Logan. Many things could go wrong, statistically speaking, and one of them almost did go wrong.

“You’ll be fine!”

“Get ready.” The instructor stood up and Logan recalled what he’d been told to do many times before. “Who’s going first?”

“I will.” Patton eagerly stepped forward. “Maybe Teach won’t be so scared if I do it first.”

It didn’t take long for the instructor to remind Patton what to do and before Logan could protest, Patton smiled and fell out of the plane. Logan’s stomach lurched, immediately thinking about the statistics for injury involving skydiving.

“Are you ready?”

“Yes.” The lie was so blatant he didn’t even know why he bothered. They quickly reviewed what he needed to do when he pulled out his parachute, when he needed to pull it, and basic safety. He looked down at Patton getting further away from him, held his breath, and jumped.

The wind ripped at his hair as he hurtled toward the earth, remembering that humans were not made with wings but still found ways to get themselves far too high into the air.

A familiar tinkling made his glance around and suddenly Patton was next to him. Of course, that made little sense since he’d jumped before Logan had. Patton grabbed his hand, pulling him closer.

“Smile!” Before Logan could figure out what was going on, a flash pierced his vision. He squeezed Patton’s hand tighter. “You’re amazing!”

They pulled each other closer until they were nose to nose and abruptly he didn’t feel so nauseous. He didn’t feel like he was going to tell Patton that he was no longer allowed to pick what they did for any anniversary. Logan was still scared, but somehow he felt calmer.

“I love you.” The words fell out of his mouth before Logan could understand why he’d even wanted to say them. Immediately his face began to heat up and he sputtered, trying to save himself.

But Patton didn’t seem to find his spontaneous confession embarrassing. In fact, he smiled so loud and looked so happy, Logan ought to have done it before. There was something about his smile that always made the word seem softer around the edges.

Patton dragged him closer and kissed him softly. “I love you, too.”

Later, much after they landed, Patton would rain kisses down on him, softly, carefully, lovingly, showing the depth of his affection—Logan’s heart raced for another reason altogether.

Mother3: Theory of Everything, Masterpost 1

Preface

This theory of mine all started when I considered this:

It’s in chapter 1 of the entire series. We see a close-up of an iris, the most common meaning being “I have a message for you”. It’s followed on the very next page by a close-up of this game. “Mouse3″, by Ninkyodo. Looking up what Nintendo game this could be, I found out it’s Mother3, the last game in a series that began with EarthBound: Beginnings (aka Mother). The second is Mother2. Though there are some important aspects of the first two games to consider, and I will get to those later in these posts, this third installment is key to not only the framework (plot, story, and timeline) but also the character design Yana-san has used to write Black Butler. This game is the backbone of the entire series. She hasn’t actually copied anything; she’s created strong parallels with very interesting twists. Here, and in the following posts on this, I will describe (in the best detail I can) to just what extent she has followed the timeline, overall plot, storyline, character design and development, and other aspects of this game.

Framework

I feel this section is necessary because I need to get one major refutation, that I have already heard, out of the way. That is: How could Yana-san know what would happen later in the series while she wrote Chapter 1 when she didn’t know the series would be picked up? She didn’t write the Jack the Ripper arc until after it had been accepted for serialization.

This is how. You see, the individual arcs are just the fleshed out parts that eventually get you from the beginning to the ending. The writer intending to create a book series with an overarching plot (prime example: JK Rowling with the Harry Potter septology) does not simply write a book, take it to a publisher, hope it gets accepted… and then figure out what the second book will even be about. Authors of successful series come up with an idea, like a boy wizard coming-of-age story. They determine a starting point for the plot and story and place them on a sort of timeline. They get an idea of where along that timeline major things should happen, the big events. They don’t even need to have fleshed out those events yet, just “event goes here” will usually work at this point. At the other end of that timeline is the conclusion the author wants to reach (like: chosen one defeats dark lord, wizarding world works toward resuming some sense of normalcy, etc.). I’ll stop referencing Harry Potter here because I want to compare Black Butler with a Nintendo game called Mother3. But, basically, Yana-san didn’t have to actually write the whole story, or even a large chunk of it, to know where it was headed. Waiting for serialization, Yana-san wrote standalone chapters (though chapters 3 and 4 are connected); this filled up the first volume. After getting the green light, she just had to fill in the blanks: the arcs and occasional stand-alones .

Timelines

First, let’s compare timelines and some basic points along these timelines:

Mother3 does not follow along a simple timeline; it has time gaps, time stretches, a dream sequence, and a major flashback.

  • Begins when a traumatic event rips a family apart. The twins involved are about 9/10 years old. The first three chapters cover the events that happen before the twins turn 12/13, so three years. The POV changes for each chapter.
  • Ch. 1 is the POV of Flint, the father. It’s the initial traumatic event and the immediate aftermath, including the death of the older twin.
  • Ch. 2 is the POV of Duster, a villager known for being a thief. He hides something he found, then he loses his memories (total amnesia).
  • Ch. 3 is the POV of Salsa, a monkey. (Yes, a monkey) He is searching for his girlfriend but has been enslaved by a travelling merchant.
  • When Lucas turns 12/13, he is finally ready to set out on his final journey. The POV changes to his, and this continues for the remaining five chapters. These five last chapters are his adventures with his dog and the people who help him along the way; it covers about one year.
  • Ch. 4 has Lucas and his dog, Boney, infiltrate a factory. They need to gain access to a very exclusive nightclub and get backstage They are helped by someone called Violet.
  • Ch. 5 has Lucas mistaken for the commander-in-chief of the king’s army.
  • Ch. 6 is set in what seems to be a field of sunflowers, but it’s apparently his imagination in a dream-like state. He’s trying to cope with the traumatic event that started this whole thing….
  • Ch. 7 is very long because it has Lucas travelling around to find his first 6 “needles”. It includes several adventures, or arcs.
  • Ch. 8 has Lucas discovering Nowhere Islands’ past, defeating the King, and (while trying to get the 7th, last “needle”) confronting the twin that had died in Chapter 1. There is a flashback to when the twins were babies (when they were named). A Dark Dragon awakens, darkness envelops the world, everything seems to have been destroyed, and it’s the “End?”
  • The player enters the game itself and walks around in the dark, meeting people who have survived. End.

Black Butler also has time gaps, time stretches, dream sequences, and flashbacks….

  • It begins with a deceptively inconsequential chapter. We meet the Earl Phantomhive and his staff at the Phantomhive Manor. Ch. 1 centers around a ruined garden transformed with sand and irises… and the visit of Chlaus, who brings the earl a game called Mouse3.
  • Ch. 2 mentions the Funtom company that the earl now owns and runs as president, and we then meet Elizabeth Midford, betrothed to Ciel Phantomhive. She breaks the earl’s ring, but Sebastian fixes it. The ring is important for him to keep but reminds him that his predecessors have all died wearing it.
  • Chs. 3 & 4. Rats are loose at Phantomhive Manor, but so is an enemy. Azzurro Vanel, a drug dealer with the Ferro family (in the Italian mafia), takes the earl hostage (in Ch.3), and (in Ch.4) Sebastian has to save the earl and kill Vanel.
  • Ch 5. We learn that there are sister companies to Funtom. Sebastian prepares a feast of sweets for visiting children from an orphanage… while dealing with useless servants and a selfish master. We discover Sebastian’s fondness for cats.
  • Chs. 6 - 13. The Jack the Ripper arc. This centers around Madam Red and Grell Sutcliff.
  • Ch. 14. A relatively puffy piece in which the earl’s Aunt Frances comes for a visit. Even though the calendar says the 12th, it’s supposed to say the 14th (it was an error Yana-san has mentioned), and they are celebrating his 13th birthday. Aunt Frances is exceptionally perceptive….
  • Chs. 15 - 22. The Curry arc. Consider that this arc really centers around a young prince from Bengal, his butler, a female servant that disappeared from his home, and the man who took her… not the curry.
  • Chs. 23 - 36. The Noah’s Ark Circus arc (Book of Circus). The earl gets revenge on one of his intended torturers.
  • Ch. 37. Nina Hopkins creates a new wardrobe for the earl… while the earl is hiding secrets from Lizzie.
  • Chs. 38 - 50. The Phantomhive Murders arc (Book of Murder). The queen is testing the earl’s loyalty. A new servant is added to the Phantomhive household, but given false promises.
  • Chs. 51 - 65. The Campania arc (Book of the Atlantic). Chs. 61 - 62 shows us the flashback of Sebastian’s “birth” and his “christening” as the earl’s butler. Ch. 63 gives a continued flashback, this time of Sebastian learning to be a good butler and the earl preparing to claim the earldom.
  • Ch. 66. It’s Easter, and there are games to be played at Phantomhive Manor. Lizzie wonders what really happened that month while the earl was away from home….
  • Chs. 67 - 84. The Weston arc. Remember that the climactic scene occurs in a secret garden behind the walls of an autonomous school.
  • Ch. 85. We see the Tower Bridge, which has been under construction since 1885. Sebastian and the earl discover that one of Undertaker’s lockets is for Cloudia Phantomhive, the earl’s paternal grandmother. Sebastian increases the sales of Funtom’s new products for ladies.
  • Chs. 86 - 108. The Green Witch arc. The earl suffers a major PTSD-type breakdown; this leads to an interesting dream sequence. However, Ch. 96.5 is a side-story describing something that happened during the circus arc: a cute story about tooth decay…. Also, Ch. 99.5 is another circus arc side-story; this time he’s ill and has a flashback of Vincent caring for the ailing Rachel. Ch. 105 shows that Undertaker had recently visited Diedrich, cried over Vincent’s death, and claims “the Earl of Phantomhive is still with us.” Again, Ch. 107.5 is an extra; it’s an AU of sorts, with the “Akuma Six”: the Viscount Druitt tries to steal Vincent’s rank rosette and Undertaker tries to revive Vincent with his own, higher ranking rosette.
  • Chs. 109 - ?? The Blue Sect arc. This is where we are, as I write these posts. However, Gregory Violet is turning out to be quite useful in what seems to be a case of brainwashing and stolen blood….

Now, it doesn’t seem, at first, like there is much comparison between the timelines. However, there are a few major parallels in timeline structure. Both plots begin with a traumatic event that rips the “focus” family apart, and then about three years later, the main protagonist is in full action. The only difference here is that Mother3′s story starts with the event itself, whereas Black Butler’s story starts up with the main protagonist already in action; the traumatic event is brought to light later, mostly as flashbacks.

In both cases, the twin boys are about 9/10 years old at the start of the plot; I include this “9/10″ for Black Butler because the traumatic event actually happens on their tenth birthday. At the end of Mother3, the twins are 12/13; all five chapters in Lucas’ POV are when he is about 13 years old. When we meet the earl in Black Butler, he is already 12 years old and head of the Phantomhive family. We get to watch them celebrate his 13th birthday, and then time just seems to crawl. As such, I fully expect the (initial) series to end before his 14th birthday. BTW – I’ll mention it here, since it’s the only real place to do so, that the very day before his 14th birthday happens to fall on a Friday the 13th. Considering other fateful events that happen on Friday the 13ths in Black Butler, I’d consider this fact rather foreboding…. So, both plots start out with the main protagonist aged 9/10 years old… and end with him aged 13 years old….

Both have flashbacks… well, Mother3 has one big one, plus a story about major events of the distant past. Black Butler has several flashbacks, sporadically, and there seems to be a suggestion of events that got the ball rolling way before the main plot begins. History is very important to both stories.

Both have POV changes; in Mother3 the POV is different for each of the first three chapters but then switches to just Lucas for the remaining five chapters, while Black Butler is generally Sebastian’s POV, with glimpses of other POV’s mixed in, mostly in the form of flashbacks. One would expect that the earl’s POV would be most-prominent, but Yana-san has set it up to be Sebastian’s (we do see his thoughts the most), otherwise we would never have all these discussions and theories about there being a twin…. In fact, one of the first things that told me “Mouse3″ had to be a major clue (besides the irises in an otherwise dead garden) was the fact that Mother3 involves twins who get separated during a secondary traumatic event.

In the next two installments I will further explain the parallels between characters, and they do not stop with the members of the main families. This might actually take three posts; we will see. There are huge character parallels!

In the fourth (or fifth) installment, I will go into detail on how some of the chapters/arcs line up.

Expect a possible fifth (or sixth) installment about miscellaneous bits and pieces….

So, here it is. As stated previously, AU where Finn and Rae are in their late twenties and meet for the first time. This happens to contain some good ol’ fashion smut, so - SMUT WARNING. Don’t read this shit if you’re under 18, yada yada. You know the drill.

I find it absolutely ridiculous that PC get an 81 with that SD specially after seeing CB & BS' scores. If that's their score in China what will they get in France? 85? 😂 When will this team be scored fairly 🙄 But at the same time people said that this panel was way more forgiving than last week's in all the disciplines so it's not really fair to anyone.

Out of the 8.44 points gap C/B and B/S left 3.6 BV points on the table behind P/C and as always get 2 points lower than P/C in PCSs. The 2.84 points left come from GOEs.

What can I say? P/C don’t deserve to be any way near 80 not the mention 81.1, every time I see their lift I want the throw something on my TV since it is so juniorish it’s embarrassing. Not to mention there is nothing remotely latin about that SD. But at the same time I don’t think C/B and B/C scores should be higher - both teams looked quite mediocre imo, especially when you compare this event to the excellent one we saw last week at skate canada.

Cinemantic tool DoF + gif making mini tutorial.

First off, start with opening up your cinematic tool, framing the shot you want, then enable the visuals. In this case, the depth of field. Then start playing around with the settings. For this shot I’ve used these values, but sometimes you gotta go a lot higher or lower in values than this.

This’ll continue under the cut as it got a bit lenghty and image heavy.

Since Zestiria’s Equipment Fusion System Is About As Clear As Mud . . .

I decided to make my own guide for you guys.  I mean, it’s cute that the game decided to give you all that info inside of a skit with Lailah and Edna, but the problem is that they go kinda fast (since skits auto-proceed) so it might be hard to absorb everything all at once.  I know it took me 1 and a half play throughs to really get the hang of it, and even then, it took playing on a ridiculously high difficulty to get the gear drops I needed to fiddle with it enough for the rules to start making sense.  I’ll include some tips at the end too for how to get drops, but first, let’s talk about the basics, and the possibilities just from the rules the game (very quickly) throws your way, because figuring out the equipment fusion system in Zestiria is pretty important to surviving those ridiculously high difficulty levels you read about me playing on.  The rest is going behind a cut because length and screen shots galore (because it always helps to have pictures!).

Hi guys! I hope you enjoy this one shot! Its based off a prompt I saw a while ago, I couldn’t find the actual prompt but it went something like, I accidentally was included in a group chat when I so obviously shouldn’t have been. So this is a modern day AU and it takes place during the summer. Also I included a scene that implied Rae shot gunned a beer, but I didn’t explain what that means and wasn’t sure if that’s even a thing in the UK so HERE is demo on how to do it in case there is anybody who is like wtf is that :) again I hope you enjoy :)

And now for a math lesson...

1 in 6 women has been sexually assaulted. (Which is a conservative estimate, by the way.)

When I say this, virtually no one disagrees. (Granted I do not hang out with the MRA “we are oppressed and the sky is brown and gravity isn’t real” set.) No one has a problem with these numbers.

But when I then add the corallary that 1 in 6 men has committed sexual assault (against women only), everyone – EVERY SINGLE PERSON – balks. “No, that can’t be right!” and “But what about repeat offenders?”

Well, stats don’t work that way. If something is being done to X group, then someone in Y group must be doing it.

As for repeat offenders, the recividism rate for sex offenders is around 23-24%, and that includes reoffwnding with ANY violent crime, not repeat sexual assaults.

In studies of college men done between 1981 and 2004, 8.8% admutted to committing rape. 1 in 12 admitted to acts that met the legal definition of rape (note the difference between rape and sexual assault) even while 84% of them said they didn’t break the law. Up to 35% indicated moderate likelihood or higher that they would commit rape of they knew they wouldn’t get caught. 15-20% admitted to acts of sexual aggression (also known as assault). 35% said their friends approved of heavily using drugs or alcohol to get sex, and 20% said that at least one of their friends had done so (you know… rape in other words.) 90% of all rapes are acquainyance rapes and 74% of those involve significant use of drugs or alcohol.

These are numbers collect from a variety of samples, in a variety of locations, of a period of almost 25 years.

So why exactly is it that we find “1 in 6 women have been sexually assaulted” with 99.99% of those being committed by men, to be completely believable, but “1 in 6 men have committed sexual assault” is impossible?

Mathematically if you accept the first, the you MUST accept the second. And it’s logical… it should make sense to us on a basic common sense level – if A, then B where A and B are directly connected.

And every single one of those studies’ stats make those numbers very likely – they all make that 1 in 6 number very probable in context.

Yet EVERY SINGLE PERSON I express this corallary to recoils from it.

Math is a science that deals in facts. This isn’t radical feminism. It isn’t propaganda. It isn’t villifying men.

“Hi Lily, how was school today?” Rae asked when Lily opened the door.

“Horrible as usual” Lily crossed her arms dramatically and scrunched her face.

Why Sleep Is a Matter of Racial Justice
Black Americans aren’t sleeping as well as whites. Here’s why that’s a public-health problem—and what can be done to fix it.
By Brian Resnick

Some of the more practical research aimed at helping black Americans to sleep better is being conducted by Girardin Jean-Louis, a charismatic Haitian-born psychologist who runs a lab dedicated to sleep and health disparities at New York University’s Center for Healthful Behavior Change. When I first started reporting on this topic, Jean-Louis’s name was brought up in just about every conversation. “What I think is innovative about what Dr. Jean-Louis is doing is that he goes into the community and finds out from the stakeholders what we need to do and works with them,” says Kristen Knutson, a biomedical anthropologist at the University of Chicago who has been studying the link between sleep and health outcomes.

It’s 84 degrees and rising on a Saturday in August when I go to see Jean-Louis’s work in action. In the St. Albans community of Jamaica, Queens, Azizi Seixas—a member of Jean-Louis’s team—takes the stage outside Christ Church International. Congregants and community members sit under tents in the closed-off street adjacent to the church, which, despite its coral-pink bricks, is as nondescript and industrial as the self-storage facility next door.

Seixas is here to recruit participants for a yearlong study that Jean-Louis’s lab is conducting. St. Albans—a working- to middle-class community that is almost entirely black—isn’t the poorest neighborhood in the city, but it suffers from the same stressors as many other minority areas: people working multiple jobs at odd hours; people struggling to pay for mortgages while taking care of their families. “People have two or three jobs—they don’t get enough sleep,” the nurse manning the blood-pressure station tells me. “You come in [from one job], you get five or six minutes sleep—or maybe two hours of sleep—then you have to go out to another job. They don’t realize. They just think, ‘Oh, I’m tired.’ They don’t realize they’re developing a problem that’s greater than being just tired.”

Thirty percent of adult residents in the greater Jamaica area are obese. The death rate from diabetes in Jamaica is higher than in both Queens and New York City as a whole. Jamaica also has one of the highest rates of heart-attack hospitalizations in the city. “When you don’t sleep well, guess what happens?” Seixas asks the crowd from the stage. “Over time, that builds up, and it builds up, and it builds up, and what we have found is that many of the times, the hypertension—the high blood pressure—the diabetes, all those health conditions are associated. They have something to do with sleep.”

MORE

People always want to find ways to justify unarmed black people getting shot by the police. They say ‘well if they didn’t do this’ or 'if they didn’t say that’, they’d still be alive and it gets tiring. Honestly, you can believe whatever you want to believe but the bottom line is this: no police officer should have the right to shoot anyone who is unarmed. If you are afraid of someone who does not have a weapon DO NOT become a police officer. Please, I beg of you. And if you are the type of person who says 'well they have a criminal record, so they got what they deserved’ please refrain from commenting on this post because I do not want to hear from you. I pride myself in respecting everyone’s opinions and beliefs but I do NOT respect stupidity. To those of you who want to say 'well black people only get upset when someone black is killed by the police and not when black people kill other black people’, stop drinking the Kool-Aid. I am tired of the 'if black lives really mattered, then why do they kill each other?’ comments. If you are someone who believes that or has said something to that effect, let me let you in on a little secret: people rarely go to different neighborhoods to kill someone. *GASP* That’s shocking right? Not really. If you just took the time to do your own research instead of, I don’t know, treating Fox News like it’s gospel, you’d learn that people tend to kill people they know or people that live in their neighborhoods. Take into account that MOST neighborhoods in this country are intraracial (meaning they have members of the same race living in that area) and THAT is the reason why black people kill other black people. The reason why white people kill other white people because, you know, that’s a thing. People tend to forget that when they want to make a comment about black on black crime. Before you say blacks kill each other at a higher rate than white people, let me just remind you that 84% of all white homicide victims are killed by other white people. That is a high percentage. If you don’t think that’s an issue but black on black crime is, then…I don’t know what to say to you. (I do but I just choose not to waste my breath or time). And finally, to those who want to say 'well white people get killed by police too’, let me ask you what you’re going to do about it? If the answer is 'nothing’, don’t ever fix your lips to say anything about black people who protest or raise awareness about police brutality because if you’re okay with police killing unarmed citizens regardless of their skin color, you don’t deserve a seat at this table.
