idyllic situation

I love the countdown series so much. A new one seems to always pop up when I'm having a bad time, and it gives me something to help motivate myself.

AAAAAAAAAAAAH!!!! T_________T This makes me so happy you don’t even knowwww.

I’m sorry to hear you’re not feeling so great, but I’m happy I can make a difference in your day! Writing this series has been really cathartic for me, too. If anyone looks at my works on AO3, you can see that basically before Haikyuu!! I hadn’t written anything in quite awhile. Finding Haikyuu!! and all the really, really great people that follow it kind of opened a dam. I try to write almost every day and I try to stay engaged with the people I’m ‘meeting’ and stay open and excited even when it’s hard.

Countdown is like, a CONCENTRATED EFFORT to change the idea of fluff into something that’s substantial and important. Not filler. Not just happy, nothing happens, uninteresting, JUST kisses and butterflies and smiles (although there’s plenty of that). Sometimes I get a little miffed that people call this genre “fluff” when it’s about two young people who are falling deeply in love and they’re dedicating themselves to figuring stuff out and to each other even though they have NO IDEA what they’re doing…

That’s not fluff, or “filler.” That’s real life, just when it goes well.

Like, not hating on the real, dark stuff that people write to help us all get through the tough things too… but I think depicting the characters we hold dear in idyllic situations is just as valuable. I want them to be happy. I want them to feel love without having to worry about what other people think… because I want that for other people, my friends and myself. TBH.

I’m SUPER SUPER pleased that you get a bit of happiness (and MOTIVATION - omg that flighty bastard) from reading my poorly conceived fic. omg. My inbox is always open when you want to talk about fic or real life too.

I wanted your opinion on my fic idea, I want to write a Deidara reincarnation fic where Deidara gets reincarnated into sasuke's child/sarada's sibling (also probably be named itachi) What do you think about it? Any advice?

Hm. Tricky.

Make sure you don’t loose Deidara’s distinct personality in the process of growing up, for one, and for two, develop his personality as he grows.

Remember that Sasuke is an absent parent, and Sakura is as good as a single-mother. Sarada will probably be good and nice, but all in all do not make itachi!Deidara’s childhood situation an idyllic one. No matter what we think, the world has just undergone a war and is right in the middle of a technological revolution.

The parents probably have no solid idea how to be parents, and children will be children. Deidara will be forced to navigate those waters, so think realistically about how a once-terrorist would react.

Would he be confident in his abilities and make the same mistakes as his previous life? Would he plot to escape the compound once he’s old enough? How is a child’s brain affecting the way he thinks - show this through holes in his logic that readers see but not him.

All in all, you can treat this like any other reincarnation fic, but like always, justify, and be realistic.

Good luck!

Home Out In The Wind Masterpost

I’ve been working on this stuff since last January, so it seemed apropos, in light of the main Epic Plot part of the series wrapping up with the chapter and epilogue I’m posting shortly, for me to go through and try to organize all of my related Star Wars works into some kind of coherent list. The chronology isn’t complicated, but it’s not obvious, and I may not have organized everything optimally on AO3 when I first thought to do it, so. Here’s a list with links and summaries, in a coherent order, that I hope makes it a little more inviting.

(image by @artgroves, and I should also do a little masterpost of all the art– there was art with the first story, and it’s beautiful.)

Taylor dug her toes into the white sand, sitting up on her beach towel and looking out towards the crystal clear water. Off in the distance she could see a few people windsurfing, but for the most part, the beach was empty as far as she could see as she looked left and right.  It was a private beach, so of course it was supposed to be deserted, but she was always cautious.
