Headcanon: After they get together, before Lena finds out that Kara is Supergirl. She takes her on all of these vacations, eager to show the world to the woman who has given it to her. She takes Kara to the Colosseum, they kiss at the top of the Eiffel Tower in Paris (Kara eats more pastries in France than Lena thought possible) they walk hand-in-hand along the Great Wall of China. Lena also takes Kara to her favorite vineyard, and a private beach she discovered during a break from her mother.

Lena’s favorite place in the world is the cottage near Mangerton Mountain in Ireland that she purchased in cash and has never told anyone about.

It takes only one night of Lena settled between her legs in front of the fireplace, the only sounds in the world their breathing and the crackle from the fire, for Kara to decide that this might be her favorite place too. She thinks maybe her favorite place is wherever Lena is.

After Lena discovers that Kara is, in fact, Supergirl. (A misstep by Winn that Alex quickly follows with a smack to his head and various threats) Her eyes widen as the realization hits. Kara has already seen the world, probably even more so than Lena herself. When she asks Kara about it, she pulls her close and says, “Yeah, Lena, I’ve flown everywhere. But I had never really seen anywhere until I was looking through your eyes. I want to explore the rest of the world with you, see everything with you.” Kara pauses, “Can I take you to my favorite place?” The smile Lena gives her, soft and sincere, is all the answer Kara needs.

The tears Kara sees in her eyes when they land in Ireland tell her that she was right. Her favorite place is with Lena.

Dealing with plant spirits:

So I’m a spirit worker, and though I’ve only been practicing a little bit over a year, I’ve worked with many different spirits with most of them being plants.  This just comes from my own personal experience, so you don’t have to take this as law.

General:

Different kinds of plants have different personalities (obviously).  And as each plant has their own unique personality, generally they tend to be similar to other plants of the same type: cacti, succulents, vines, herbs, flowers, even going down to specific types such as lavender, pine trees, orchids, etc.  And then, how they react to communication depends on what stage they are in: seedling, middle, adult, etc.

Communication:

In general, plants tend to be fairly slow with communication.  And they generally don’t use words. The plants i have worked with preferred sending general feelings and images of what they were trying to communicate.  So be patient with yourself while working towards that communication.  Whenever you try communication, start by giving a small offering.  It can be elaborate, it can be watering it, spreading fertilizer (eggshells are good, a bit of sugar, stuff like that) around it, weeding around the roots, and small stuff like that.  Introduce yourself, and just start talking.  Explain what your day was like and what you did.  You can sing to the plant, they tend to love that.  Seedlings are more likely to talk very quickly to you, while old plants tend to take longer.  The time frame can be from a couple of hours to a couple weeks depending on the spirit.  If you want to create a relationship with the spirit, you’re going to have to communicate with the spirit regularly.  This process will take a while as it would trying to improve any friendship.

Now what?:

After you’ve introduced yourself to the spirit, it’s time to create a friendship!  Giving them small gifts/offerings is a great step.  Spending time with them will also help with that.  It doesn’t all have to be communication, you can read books aloud to them, watch movies with them, or anything else of that sort.  Find out their name!  Each spirit will have their own name, much like we do.  Some of them are really hard to spell and/or pronounce so I won’t be giving any examples here.  After building that friendship, you can do most anything you want!  You can have them assist you with spells, amplify your energy, and other such things.  Keep in mind that the amount of energy that the spirit will have depends on their vessel, the plant.  The larger the life force, the larger the amount of energy that you can borrow is.

Dealing with death:

Now, most of the plants I have worked with have been seedlings, and because I’m not perfect in the slightest many of them have died.  For me, dealing with the dead plant is a ritual to honor the spirit as it passes into a place where I haven’t been able to communicate with it yet.  I give it back to the earth (bury it if I can, or just leave it in a place where it can give back to the earth.  It gets a small funeral service, stating what they did for me, what I loved about them, that they will be missed, etc.  Before you leave them there give them a small offering to help it’s passage, water, fertilizer, eggshell, etc.  This isn’t necessary, but it is respectful and a good way for the spirit not to be mad.

Offerings

  • pebbles
  • water
  • fresh mulch
  • cleaning up forests
  • making bee feeders
  • songs
  • talking to them
  • meditating with them
  • storytelling
  • sugar
  • biodegradable food
  • weeding around them
  • eggshell powder
  • cold tea

Now, treat your plants well and get to know them!

Fanfic Readership Survey
Provide feedback about providing feedback

I and @chocolatequeennk have noticed lately that there has been a decreasing trend in fanfic readership and engagement. This piqued our curiosity, so I’ve decided to try and figure out what might be the source of this decreasing trend.

I’ve created a simple survey for all fic readers, whether you’ve been reading fic for a day or a decade. If you could all spare a moment of your time to fill it out, I’d greatly appreciate it. (And if you could reblog to signal boost, that’d be cool too!)

Thank you!

Trans person in need of a bit of help!

Hey everyone, my name is Gwyn and I’m a very poor nonbinary person who has been trying to move out of Utah for ages, as living here is seriousky detrimental to my mental wellbeing, and I finally have an opportunity to move to Connecticut and I’m taking it, but plans have somewhat fallen through and I may not have a place to stay right away.

I have a couple hundred bucks, which isn’t enough for a motel, so I’m looking for a place to crash (a room or even just a couch) in the Connecticut/New York Metro area while I find a job and get things sorted. I would be able to pay around $200 for a couple weeks. I know its not much but I’m working on selling things and finding a job asap so I can offer more.

Alternatively, if anyone could donate to my Paypal (brambleop@gmail.com) so i could afford to get a motel if it comes to that, that would be rad.

My moving date is April 27th (one week from now)

If anyone has a place, or any info that could help me out, please message me here.

Thank you!!

INTRODUCING: the fool’s fc directory!

this is a personal fc directory and more for my moments of “okay so which fc do i use, i remember loving one but who were they again…?” but i thought this would be useful to people for some quick fc ideas ( this is by no means a definitive list, and my sorting of ethnicities may not be perfect – if there’s anything i should amend/change, please let me know!! )

there’s a good mix of fc’s in their teens-twenties-thirties, lots of poc, some underused whites. not all of my favourites are up there yet, but the directory is always growing!

please live

It was late. It was at least midnight, probably later - earlier? You didn’t know - and it was strangely quiet outside, which meant that lines in restaurants would be nonexistent. And you were craving some Chinese takeout.

Luckily, you weren’t the only one awake, and you could hear soft swear words every so often coming from the room down the hall.

You crept off of the couch and made your way down the narrow hallway. Reaching the door, you knocked gently and heard a frustrated “come in,” before you opened the door, hinges creaking at the movement.

Ethan sat at his desk, the computer screen illuminating his face. It was the only light on in the room, so you moved your hand across the wall until you found the light switch, flicking it on. Ethan squinted at the sudden light and looked at you. “What’s up?” He asked.

You were planning to ask him, but seeing how stressed he was and how the dark circles under his eyes were bright and screamed that he needed a break. Ethan had no choice but to come with you now.

DDOCA

Gender is unknown, but it is hinted to be a girl by MJ when he asked DDOCA to call him “Oppa”, a term for a female to call their older brothers.

DDOCA is someone who is always following ASTRO and helping the boys film themselves playing around, sneak peaks at what they are doing or simple things like life behind the scenes/official camera.

AROHAs wishes they were DDOCA who is always with ASTRO and playing around with them.

cr to @moon-hyuks for DDOCA’s model (??? idk)

For the anon who asked me to do a coloring tutorial :) If anyone wants me to do any more tutorials, feel free to send me an ask and I’ll try and get to it as soon as possible!

Everything I know about picking colors comes from THIS SYCRA VIDEO. The first eight minutes are really all you need to understand what I’m saying. I don’t do exactly what he does every single time, but I always keep it in the back of my head.

Some other things to note, I guess:

When I’m drawing from reference, I don’t use the eyedropper tool and sample colors directly from the photo. It feels kinda boring and lazy to me, because if I’m gonna have all the same colors as the photo, what’s even the point of drawing from a photo if the photo already exists? So I guess it’s an issue of style for me…

I change the colors of the lines before I do the overpaint bit just because it helps me when I’m blending. It’s easier to blend a skin colored outline into a face than a dark blue outline into a face.

…That’s pretty much all I gotta say about coloring. Hope this helps someone…

                               Blue’s Japanese FC Masterlist!

ᴀ ʙᴜɴᴄʜ ᴏғ ᴊᴀᴘᴀɴᴇsᴇ ғᴀᴄᴇs ғᴏʀ ʏᴏᴜʀ ʀᴘ

I generally believe there is a lack of Japanese characters in the rpc and more than often, I see people use Korean FCs for ethnically Japanese characters. Therefore I recently started working on a masterlist of Japanese faceclaims to enable more people to be aware of the Japanese faceclaims out there! It includes trans faces, though there are a small amount I know of so there are not many. Everyone is listed with their family name first, then their given name.

This page is being constantly updated by me as there are definitely a lot more Japanese faces to add. But if you have any suggestions please do message me. This list will not include deceased, retired or under 16 faces. As of writing this, the masterlist contains 500+ faceclaims.

If you are an RPH who uses my masterlist for FC help purposes, please credit us as we worked hard on this.

You can sort the faces by these categories:

  • Gender
  • Age
  • Ethnicity (for bi/multi-racial faces)
  • Eye colour
  • Hair colour
  • Occupation
  • GIF count*
  • RP icon count*
  • My favourites

*includes resources made by everyone! If I missed a resource, feel free to message me and I’ll add it as soon as I can. This is also good because it means you can help create resources for people who have none!

I was inspired by the Vietnamese FC list by thanhpls! Please love and support her masterlist too.

hey!! so a lot of you were asking about the day and night universe and how stuff works there and i tried to think of something less half-assed and seriously thought this through. and i would like to warn you if you were expecting some kind of science related explanation or something cries i deeply apologize

essay writing strategy

if you’re like me, maybe you have trouble staying focused on your essays or remembering what you’re writing about when you trail off mid paragraph,

or hate scrolling up and down the page to see things youve written previously/remember what you were talking about!

ive developed a strategy for countering this sort of thing in my own work, and figured hey maybe i should type it out because it might help some other people who struggle with similar things! so here goes!

also, uh .. I dunno if anyone cares about this but im using the Great Gatsby as an example, so if you care about being spoiled about stuff that happens in that book.. dont read the examples?

1. Rewrite/copy down your prompt.

If you have short term memory problems like I do, this can help you actually remember what it is that you’re supposed to be talking about; and if you have issues skimming and skipping words in a sentence, it forces you to read all of it and not miss a key part of your prompt.

Example prompt: Explore the thematic significance of symbols of wealth in The Great Gatsby, and what the author uses them to say about society in the text.

2. Make a messy bullet point list of what you know.

This doesn’t need to be organized. In fact, it shouldn’t be. At this point you’re just throwing your ideas out onto the word processor. Examples you can use, points you want to make, anything else that comes to mind.

Example:

  • Gatsby’s car
  • Daisy as a symbol of money & american dream
    • (quote about her voice being full of money)
  • the valley of ashes
  • capitalism is bad bcuz it favors people with old money etc
  • the boat guy

3. Cut down & reorder your bullet points to make yourself a neat little list.

Your outline is starting to take shape now! If you can, it’s a good idea to try and think of transitions now; how you’re going to move from subject to subject in your essay. Now is a good time to elaborate on your points, too.

Example:

  • Daisy as a symbol of money & american dream
    • (quote about her voice being full of money)
  • the valley of ashes
    • (tie that in with the deaths of gatsby and wilson, all the people who “lost” in the book started poor, transition to:
  • capitalism is bad bcuz it favors people with old money etc, end with fancy ass profound quote if u think of one by then

4. Gather all your points and squish em into one introductory sentence.

Your thesis statement, if you rather. Your thesis statement is something of a “preview” of what’s to come later in the essay, so it’s better to write this after you’ve got your outline down! Make sure that your thesis statement answers/addresses the question posed in the prompt.

Example:

topics covered (daisy, valley of ashes, capitalism, people dead)

In his novel the Great Gatsby, Fitzgerald seems to be criticizing how the American system is stacked against the poor, making it difficult, if not impossible, for anyone to truly achieve the elusive “American Dream”.

5. Stick all that together

Now you’ve got the backbone of your essay! - your thesis statement, and the “topic” of each bit of the rest of your essay. Put this all together, and you’re ready to start padding it out.

Example:

  • (theeeeesiiiiiiiiiisssss) In his novel the Great Gatsby, Fitzgerald seems to be criticizing how the American system is stacked against the poor, making it difficult, if not impossible, for anyone to truly achieve the elusive “American Dream”.
  • Daisy as a symbol of money/the american dream (quote about her voice being full of money)
  • The valley of ashes (poor people in a bad situation in the wasteland of the city)
  • capitalism sucks bcuz it favors old money, profound quote, bam done we’re gona rock it

6. Start padding out your essay!

See, what I like about writing an essay like this is that you don’t have to scroll around your page in order to know what you’re supposed to be writing about in the section you’re working on. Using your bullet points as a guide, write your paragraph under each one.

Example:

  • Daisy as a symbol of money/the american dream (quote about her voice being full of money)
    • A powerful symbol Fitzgerald uses to represent the American Dream is the character Daisy Buchanan. She is explicitly said to have a voice “full of money” and is pursued by many. However, when Gatsby finally achieves his dream of having her in his reach, she seems less magical, less perfect than he remembers; much like the American Dream seems from “close up”. Interestingly, the only one in the end who gets to have “the Dream” is Tom, someone born into money. Gatsby’s attempts to keep her are arguably in vain due to the fact that he used to be poor.
  • The valley of ashes (poor people in a bad situation in the wasteland of the city)
    • Further commentary on wealth is evident in the area aptly named as the “Valley of Ashes”; the shadow of glamorous, frivolous New York, it is where the poor are left fighting for scraps and cleaning up what the rich left behind. (god, im not gonna finish this, im not getting a grade for this, you get the idea right? write the essay inside your outline. use it like a spine. like a tree trunk, and write the leaves around it.)

7. Write out an intro and conclusion to fit your middle paragraphs.

Your introduction needs to “fade in” and bring the readers to your “point”; your conclusion needs to “fade out” and show the bigger picture and how your essay applies to other areas. (These aren’t rules that are set in stone per se, just good guidelines to follow when you dont have any other ideas.)

Your thesis statement is ideally the end of your introduction, leading into the rest of your essay. Generally, the thesis is “restated” in different words in the conclusion, as if in summary.

8. Delete your outline bullet points and clean it up a little.

This is like erasing your construction lines after you finish a drawing, and then make sure it flows smoothly together. Reading it outloud to yourself is a good idea, it will help you catch any glaring errors.

9. Congrats you wrote that dam essay!!

good job dude!!!!! give yourself a pat on the back and maybe a treat bcuz you deserve it!

And just like that, it’s over. Well, almost- there’s still Christmas to get through. And leading up to the deadline to submit your video or picture to the Thank You, Peter Capaldi project (more information here!) it’s time to celebrate everything that the 12th Doctor has brought to the show during the Twelve Days of Twelve.

For 12 days from July 16-27, post something- an edit, gifset, meta, whatever- that follows the prompt for the day. For easier reading (and more detail) here’s the list:

July 16: The moment you fell in love with the 12th Doctor. Everyone has that moment that the new Doctor suddenly becomes the Doctor. What was yours
July 17: Favorite Series. What series that the 12th Doctor featured in has been your favorite?
July 18: Team TARDIS. The 12th Doctor has had some amazing team TARDISs- from just himself and Clara to being River’s companion, and then with Bill, Nardole, and even Missy! This is a day to celebrate the companions in 12’s time on the show.
July 19: Favorite episode. What 12th Doctor episode has been your favorite?
July 20: Twelve’s Style. From “minimalism, but I think I came up with magician” to Space Hobo, a day for 12’s unique style. A perfect day to post your cosplays of the 12th Doctor!
July 21: Twelve’s Hair. Enough said, tbh.
July 22: Favorite Scene. What scene that the 12th Doctor featured in has been your favorite?
July 23: Character Development. “Am I a good man?” From the uncertain, cue-card needing 12 that we started with to the man he is now, this is a day to appreciate the character development that 12’s had during his run.
July 24: Time Lord Rock Star. Possibly the best thing (in my opinion) that 12 has brought to the show. Rock on, 12.
July 25: Scene that made you the most emotional. For a Doctor that pretends to be very reserved and detached, he’s gone through a lot. Barring the mess that you might be at Christmas, what scene with the 12th Doctor has made you the most emotional?
July 26: Favorite Quote(s). From inspiring (though occasionally self-depreciating at the same time) speeches to classics like “Don’t be lasagna,” what are some of your favorite 12th Doctor quotes?
July 27: Peter Capaldi Appreciation Day. Peter Capaldi has brought so much of himself and his fan-boy glee to this role. The guy honestly needs an entire week for himself, but here’s at least one day to celebrate this Scottish fan-boy having the time of his life.

BONUS July 28: Teaser of your entry to the Thank You Peter Capaldi Video Project. July 28 is the deadline to submit your pictures and videos to be included in a thank you video for Peter Capaldi from the fans. If you’ve submitted your video/photo to thankyoupetercapaldi@gmail.com, post a teaser! If you haven’t submitted one yet, then get on it!

Tag any and all submissions with the tag #thankyou12 (or ‘#thank you 12’ with the spaces- both will be checked but the one without spaces is preferred) and they’ll be reblogged to this tumblr (thankyoupetercapaldi). And if you want to help get the word out about the video project, feel free to reblog this post or share this video as well.
