THERE’S something about all-day shoots that exhaust him – not that he’d expect anybody to understand – and today in particular he decides that, on less than three hours’ sleep and nothing to eat at all, the beach is a good call, even if he’s not planning on sunbathing or…enjoying the waves, at all really. instead he remains clad in his denim shorts and pastel blue t-shirt, a little too tight, a little too hot, a soft bandana pulling his hair back as he childishly pushes his fingers through the wet sand.

“I’ve never thought this day would come,”

Sam says with a huff of laughter and clears his throat. He’s standing in front of just a few dozens of people, his brother and Cas watching him from the central table with bright smiles.

“For a very long period in my life, I could never imagine my brother getting married, surely not to an angel,” he continued. An awkward but genuine laugh went through the crowd, and from the corner of his eye he saw Dean’s fingers hover across their table and rest lightly on Cas’. Sam fiddled with the papers in his hands, trying to organize his thoughts. He coughed lightly again, and opened his monologue.

“Dean, Cas,” he looked at them, the glint of excitement inside their eyes reflecting in his. “You’ve been through a lot together. Some years were rough, some rougher - but it’s never been the easy way for you two, and all of us being here today is the absolute proof that love can live through pretty much everything.” Unfocused, his eyes spotted Dean leaning over to Cas’ side and whispering a few words while his new husband’s lips parted into a soft smile.

“Deny it all you want, but you two have always been something special.” A small frown appeared on his face as a paused, forgetting what he wanted to say. Dean looked so happy when he looked at Cas - his eyes held that spark that Sam would feel in his own whenever he’d used to look at Jess. It was a strange sort of homesickness, missing her all of a sudden.

Dean sent him an encouraging pair of thumbs up - the fingers of his left hand still intertwined with Cas’ - and Sam made a quick decision to skip the speech.

“All in all, my brother is an idiot,” he announced with a small grin. “It took him more than seven years to realize he was in love with the goddamn man.” He watched Dean let out a laugh. All things considered, it was a huge relief to see his brother happy again.

The small crowd was laughing and cheering, but Sam had one more thing to say, and his face straightened. One more thing that he wasn’t sure Dean and Cas themselves were aware of, and he needed them to know.

“When you guys look at each other, the only thing that a person on the outside could tell is that the most important thing in your life is right in front of you. If soulmates do exist, then you are the perfect example of those.” He looked right into Dean’s eyes now, holding his gaze, his face still serious. “He simply makes you happy, Dean. Don’t ever let this man go.”

( “ the most important thing in your life is right in front of you” - I just wanted to say: OBViously the most important thing in Dean’s life will always be his little brother, but from Sam’s pov I’m not sure he’s completely aware of that.)

”I also have that desire to blurt stuff out, but I’ve learnt I can’t do that. Not when you realise the whole world is listening. That’s why perhaps I look so uncomfortable in interviews at times. I mean, we’ve talked about hiding things and I’ve had to get much more adept at that, sadly. But I’m glad I’m not one of those actresses who is just so ready to open up for everyone.”
