Blood Moon Ball officiallyintroduced Tom Lucitor, demon ex-boyfriend of Star with extreme anger issues and a therapist to guide him. Following his appearance, a new ship called Tomco blew up immediately. Tons of tomco content flooded the SVTFOE tag, beginning to rival Starco’s popularity.
I hated it.
Tom and Marco had only one interaction in the episode, and that was when Tom was ready to burn Marco into a crisp. It felt like that one ship, the one that paralleled Gravity Fall’s billdip or billford and existed simply because it was M/M.
I did, however, like Tom. We were shown from the get-go that he recognizes and accepts some of his faults, even though that was not an easy thing to do. I admired that he was working to improve his emotional instability with Brian as his therapist. Tom has his many relapses, but he is still doing his best, and I seriously love that about him.
My opinion of Tomco turned around after Mr. Candle Cares and Friendenemies aired. In these two episodes, we got to see these guys have meaningful conversations, and work out their differences after the incident at the ball. In Mr. Candle Cares, Marco helped Tom see that he shouldn’t use shady tactics to get back together with Star. It was a rewarding moment, to see Tom embrace that he needed to let go of his ex-girlfriend and for Marco to admit that Tom wasn’t so bad after spending some time with him (as his captive yes, but point still stands).
And of course, every Tomco shipper loves Friendenemies for giving Tom and Marco an opportunity to really bond and get to know each other as people and not as enemies.
So, kind of like Starco, I can see Tomco become a friendship to romance dynamic. It would not be perfect, given that Tom still has some problems that could get in the way of a smooth relationship. But I think it could work. Tom is working his butt off to develop into someone more mature and less prone to his anger. Marco is a kind person, but he is not a pushover when it comes to calling out his friends or other people for making the wrong move, especially since he already helped Tom in many ways that he doesn’t even realize yet.
Marco and Tom just. . really fit. They clearly enjoy each other’s company and it’s very sweet.
I’m really looking forward to more interactions between these two. Solid 8 from me.
Birthdays got put on hold a lot. There were constantly more important issues: reapers, saren, reapers, collectors, reapers, the council, reapers, the illusive man, reapers, cerberus, reapers. Issues that made a cake, a gift or two, a silly song and a wish seem completely unimportant. Every year that it passed Shepard marked it off their calendar, holding their tongue and thanking anyone who remembered in private. It was not a celebration, a happy day or, at least, a day off, it became, instead, any other day.
A mission, a task, a goal. An enemy (or a few hundred) and a victim. Achievable. Manageable.
It became something they were so used to that when there was finally peace they almost had forgotten what to do on that day. They had no mission, they had no enemy. Their life was simple and mundane and peaceful.
When their birthday first crept around they stayed quiet, out of habit if nothing else. Shepard had underestimated their friends. The shadow broker, an AI, various captains, commanders and admirals, and even just friends who had fought by their side for years, were more than able to know when their birthday was.
Shepard was still in hospital when it happens, a large chunk of the citadel falling on you really can do some damage, surprisingly enough. They anticipated a nurse sneaking them an extra piece of jello, or a super fan sneaking in a birthday card. They didn’t expect to be woken by a nurse yelling that there’s a limit to how many visitors were allowed in a patients room at a time, a limit that had been surpassed about 12 guests ago.
Shepard was greeted by their entire Normandy crew. Gifts and cards and hugs were presented to them with smiles and laughs and jokes. The nurse yelling that ‘krogans hug too hard and if Grunt doesn’t stop immediately he’ll be removed’, alongside the new rib injuries they gained from Grunts defiant rebellion against said nurse served as a desperately needed reminder that Shepard did in fact have a family, who were, without a doubt, there for them. As long as Shepard had a family, people they can protect and love, Shepard still had a purpose besides the Reapers.
Joker placed a cake in front of Shepard with wobbly icing letters, EDI played a ‘Happy Birthday’ recording without the singing while everyone loudly sang the words (even if some of the non-humans messed up a lyric or two), Shepard blew out the candle and made a wish. I wish that I’ll never have to lose my family.
Summary: Your soulmate, whoever they are, are really fucking with your life right now. Dying their hair, and getting a tattoo over the course of twenty four hours on one of the most important days of your life career wise. Word Count: About 3300 Warning(s): Foul language, small mention of blood. Kinda shitty editing, idk I rushed through it. Author’s Note: I’m probablygoing to do a buuuunch of these little soulmate au things because I think they’re cute and I want them to be real. I know there are quite a bit of mistakes (Josh’s hair already being dyed before the date of your job interview, and that the time zones between the two are kind of fucked) but I kind of overlooked them as I began writing and I really like this idea so if you ignore them with me it’s like they don’t even exist right? So, let’s do that. Also, for those waiting on part two of Markings, it will most likely be coming out next week (don’t quote me on that). My goal now is to post every Thursday, but I have school coming up soon so, we’ll see how that goes. Anyways, I hope you enjoy! AUs (given by this gorgeous human here): If you dye your hair, your soulmate’s hair color changes as well and you swear the moment you see your soulmate you will choke them because you just woke up with your hair colored… and it’s your first job interview at a prestigious company what the fuck. Oh, and your best friend just took a picture to post online and wait—what, how many likes is that? AND A tattoo isn’t set from the moment you’re born and whatever tattoos your soulmate gets, you get it too and it’s all cool because you kind of like the designs, except you also feel the pain of getting a tattoo and that sucks…
