idf women

I’ve seen more hollow think pieces about what Gal Gadot means to representation in a “feminist” lens with this role of Wonder Woman than anti colonial feminist critiques and commentary of Israeli apparatus and Palestinian women under IDF surveillance (precisely the work the likes of Gal Gadot pride themselves upon).

Mainstream feminism is a morally bankrupt institution. Nothing more than an agent and normalizer of neoliberal violence.

July 26 2015 - Israeli police stormed the al-Aqsa mosque in Jerusalem, arresting 6 palestinians and injuring several.

In commemoration of the Jewish holiday Tisha B'Av on Sunday, hundreds of far right orthodox jews had tried to force their way into the mosque, but Palestinian youths barricaded themselves inside. Israeli police responded to this incident by attacking the Palestinians. [video]/[video]/[video]/[video]

That moment when you're a proud Jew that wants to use the Holocaust at every opportunity to gain sympathy for your cause but deny the ethnic cleansing, rape, and theft of Palestinian peoples and land and spread the most hideous propaganda to suggest it hasn't happened or is justifiable. Yuck.

1. I don’t use the Holocaust…in fact I rarely blog about it because…mostly it scares she shit out of me and….ya’ll just can’t accept that Jews have 3000+ years of history on the land you think is yours. Clearly you must be new here since hey, why look at a person’s blog and their arguments when you can just send them shit right?

2. Growing populations usually aren’t getting ethnically cleansed. And can you clarify something for me. IS the IDF not raping women because we apparently teach them Palestinian women are beneath them or something..or is the IDF actually doing it? Can ya’ll make up your mind on that idiocy?

3.  I’m not the one making up history. Arabs sold land to Jews which was bought. Several Palestinians fled during the 48 war and a small group were indeed expelled. Still doesn’t mean the Palestinians had a country that we just stole right under them.

Again 3000 years of history and how is it that the 1939 Palestinian Soccer team was…um…not Muslim….in 1936 the Palestinian National Orchestra…not founded by Muslims….I mean if they had a country shouldn’t they have had their own national soccer team, at least?

4. Isn’t it odd how you don’t seem to have a problem with Hamas, terrorizing and oppressing their own people, or the Palestinian Authority usurping millions of dollars towards their own luxuries instead of um…infrastructure…job creation? But wait…how can a population in the middle of a genocide and ethnic cleansing have autonomy and their own government and millions of dollars? WHAT?

In honour of Michael Jackson’s Death anniversary today, I’m posting pictures of him during his visit to Israel. In a lot of those photos you will see him wearing variations of IDF uniforms and visiting Israel hospitals. Michael was not only famous for his art but also for his humanitarian work and charity. He spread an universal message of peace, unity, kindness, love and a sense of responsibility for the world. Let us learn from him and work to create a “better and brighter place”. This is what we can honour him by.

Yalla, lets heal the world.

Absolute recognition and appreciation for the Palestinian, Syrian, Kurdish and other women in the Middle East who willingly put their lives on the line and risk their safety fighting fascism, occupation, and Western imperialism. These are your true heroes. Not women who serve in the IDF, not women who serve in the US army, and definitely not women who serve in armies that serve Western interests.

IDF Leads the Way in Gender Integration.

The IDF stands out among the world’s militaries for the high representation of women in the its ranks. In addition to requiring women to enlist in its ranks, the IDF boasts high participation of women in command roles.

Thirty-four percent of those serving in the IDF are women, including 23 percent of all officers and non-commissioned officers. Ninety-two percent of the IDF’s jobs are open to women.

Since she was a little girl, 2nd Lt. Lior knew that she wanted to be a combat soldier. During Operation Protective Edge, she was one of the first soldiers to fire at Hamas terrorists when they infiltrated Israel from the sea. “I never let the fact that I was a girl stand in my way or influence the things I wanted.”

Meet Rebecca, an IDF soldier from a religious Jewish family in Boston.

At 18, she left everything behind to fulfill her dream of living in Israel. She joined the IDF as a soldier specializing in education, but later decided she was meant for the field. Today she’s a trained fighter in IDF Field Intelligence, defending the home she knows and loves.
