Inktober Day 16!  Over halfway!  Hat tip to @thumbcramps (more below).

The prompt is “Fat,” and this is one of them where as soon as I saw the prompt list, I knew what I was going to do.  Back in April, after the idea of doing AkaYona cosplay with my body shape gave me a nasty faceful of dysphoria, I tried to think if I could imagine one of the characters being shaped like me, and I decided it was Yona — so here’s Chubby Yona!  And if I was going to draw Chubby Yona I knew I had to draw her doing something badass.

And as the day drew near, I also decided I wanted to try doing it in the style of @thumbcramps, because I love her stuff and she draws such gorgeous fat ladies, I thought surely I could learn something.  (If nothing else I learned I have some bad habits; on the sketch I had to nudge the outlines of Yona’s waist outward several times before she was as chubby as I wanted her to be.)

Speaking of the sketch, I cheated today.  Until now I’ve been taking “Inktober” to mean “Ink from start to finish” and no pencil except in preparatory sketches, but today when I did the preparatory sketch in pencil, I fell in love with it — and another, even more important rule I’ve been following this Inktober is “don’t put myself to unnecessary effort or stress,” so I did the final piece on tracing paper, effectively just inking the sketch, but doing it in a way that would a) not harm the sketch because I’d fallen in love with it, and b) sort of technically follow the rule — I never touched a pencil to the final piece!

In the interest of full disclosure, the said sketch is below.  This was a fun one!  Thanks, @thumbcramps!

Tomorrow’s prompt is “Graceful,” and I have some ideas I *could* do but nothing that really excites me.  Anybody got a suggestion/request?

Voltron Genderbend Klance

I love these two babies so much- @space–weeb and I are gonna cosplay these particular versions of the au (I’m being Lance and she’s being Keith) and ahhhh

They’re both so pretyyyyy. While I am going to be getting a Lance jacket of my own, I’m pretty sure we’re actually gonna do like a SUADWM kind of thing for our outfits. Expect more art of these girls because I’m also using them to practice my human anatomy and stuff cx

And yes Lance’s fingernails are purposely colored red because we’re going to get our nails done on Friday, and I also have another cos to do for SuperbitCon the Saturday after next 0w0 ANYWAY yea if I could’ve done Keith’s hands you would see that her fingernails are painted blue.

Okie i’m done rambling now lmao

Power Rangers Cookies

Yields 4 dozen

The things you’ll need

  • ¾ cup almond meal
  • 1 ½ cups + 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 3 cups all purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon freshly ground nutmeg
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 8 ounces butter
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 ½ teaspoons vanilla extract
  • ½ teaspoon almond extract
  • Large mixing bowl
  • Medium mixing bowl
  • Electric mixer
  • Whisk
  • Rubber spatula
  • Circle cookie cutter
  • Cookie sheet lined with parchment paper
  • Rolling pin
  • Plastic wrap
  • Red, yellow, blue, green, pink, and black royal icing in decorating bags
  • #2, # 4 & #12 tips
  • White & black fondant
  • Metallic bronze food paint
  • Mini football cookie cutter
  • Small fondant rolling pin
  • Fondant roller
  • Wax paper
  • Paintbrush
  • Tape

Let’s get started!

  1. Preheat oven to 350ºF.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk almond meal, flour, baking powder, nutmeg and salt.
  3. In a large bowl, beat together butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  4. Add eggs one a time, mixing and scraping in between each addition, and then add extracts.
  5. Combine wet and dry ingredients and mix well.
  6. Divide the dough into 2 discs, and wrap tightly in plastic wrap. Refrigerate for 1 to 24 hours.
  7. Roll out the dough to ¼ inch thick and then use a cookie cutter to cut out circles.
  8. Place the cookies onto lined cookie sheets and bake for 12 to 13 minutes.
  9. Cool for 2 minutes on the cookie sheets and then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.

Time to decorate!

  1. With a #2 tip, outline each cookie in a different color of royal icing and then let them dry for a few minutes.
  2. Use a # 4 tip to fill in each cookie with the same color as its outline. Use a toothpick to smooth the icing.
  3. Use your fingers to flatten out bits of yellow fondant and then use the small end of a #12 tip to cut out circles. Pinch two sides of each circle to make it an oval.
  4. Roll out black fondant and cut out mini football shapes. Cut off the pointed ends of the footballs.
  5. Paint each of the yellow ovals bronze and then use royal icing to attach each oval to a black “football”.
  6. Roll out white fondant and cut out small squares. Use a fondant roller to cut out white belts.
  7. Arrange the fondant pieces on top of each cookie and then use a circular cookie cutter to cut the excess fondant. Remove the excess.
  8. TaDa! Go Go Power Rangers Cookies!
