This is getting very interesting. A few days ago, I saw that Nike dropped a video teasing the upcoming arrival of the first ever flyknit soccer shoe ever (the Magista, not unveiled yet). Then I went to Brussels and spent way less time on the internet. And all of a sudden I’m back and learn that Adidas actually was about to release the first knit soccer shoe ever.
What I find interesting here is that Adidas, who seemed to be late on a lot of things marketing wise, a few years ago, is now going to be the true rival Nike loves to hate. Within two years, we’ve seen a transformation in the German brand and I have to agree myself -Nike worshiper sometimes- that Adidas is becoming what it should be : a world leading brand that not only provides quality gear, but that also puts out next gen shit.
Pharrell (reportedly), Nigo, Kanye West all joined the german company to work on some ill projects lately. Then you have the Y-3 label, the Jeremy Scott line that, like it or not is working perfectly, Stan Smith’s fake shoe game retirement…
This is getting serious people, we are witnessing the rise (pause) of a new era. Can’t wait to see how this evolves and eventually one day ends. But this will most likely never end.
