Been pulling my hair out over a particularly background-heavy project but…I think I’m off to a…pretty alright start?

HEY EVERYONE!!! Yes, I am alive, I’ve just been busy with applying to schools and working on stuff for friends, which I still need to finish -___- but I really wanted to draw this, so everything had to stop. Just wanted to practice more on my Mashima art style because I love it so much, plus I think Eileen and Erza deserve to have a happy conversation, so here they go! And of course Jellal in the background thinking there’s two Erzas LOL They look so alike! Anyway, hopefully I can make more post soon!

im wondering why im so bad at adult tours at work…

then i realize i havent done an adult tour in 2.5 weeks and will not have another one for 2 months. okay, maybe just one between now and then.

i dont know how to change that because zoos really appeal more to children, not so much adults.

adult tour requests have declined in popularity within the recent years. theyre
not appealing anymore.

how can i encourage adults to learn about animals?

what would you enjoy to see/do at a zoo?

re: isak and the sexuality crisis

i think the thing that i love most about skam is how it’s taking a different and much needed angle with the sexuality crisis narrative. like obvs isak’s sexuality has been referenced/hinted at since s1, but i think it’s really significant that the show withheld him as a pov character until this season, even as they were making progress with moving him through the steps of a sexuality crisis in the background of the other seasons.

the reason it’s so cool is because it means that, by the time we get into isak’s head in s3, what we’re seeing him work through is less a sexuality crisis and more a social/identity crisis. at this point, he’s basically accepted the direction and patterns in which he experiences attraction—namely, toward guys and pretty exclusively so. instead what he’s struggling with this season is actually making the connection between those patterns of attraction and “gay” as a social identity. it’s a struggle over negotiating personal meaning from a label that feels entirely other. and it’s a struggle of weighing out the host of social prejudices and very real systemic oppression tied to that label, as well as the in-built stereotypes, images, and character assumptions that suddenly get caught up in how people relate to you once you apply that label to yourself.

for me, the thing that’s so great about s3 and isak’s story so far is that it’s explicitly, sometimes excruciatingly about him going through those struggles. it’s those stereotypes and assumptions, rather than the fact itself of his attraction to guys, that seem to be tripping him up the most in his path to self-acceptance. he can’t see himself in them, and he’s internalized most of them thanks to the heteronormativity and latent casual homophobia still prevalent in his generation and among his friends. and what this leaves him in, as someone who has recently figured out that he’s attracted to boys, is the complicated position of asking: how do i relate to this identity that i have been raised viewing as extreme other? and, related: how can i use this identity to find a place in a community without also feeling like the label now dominates how others relate to me?

those questions—of claiming identities and finding connections through them to a community of people with shared or similar experiences, of how simultaneously scary and powerful it can feel to do that—are so important, and unfortunately are usually the parts that get overlooked in the conventional sexuality crisis narrative as we’ve seen it popularized in media so far. there’s this perception in popular storytelling, almost, as if having that moment of “i guess i’m attracted to my own gender” means you’re suddenly okay with all the social consequences, all the constant cycles of joy and fear and acceptance and exclusion, that come with actually saying “i’m gay,” even though that’s almost never the case

i guess what i’m trying to say is, what makes skam so great is that it gets that for so many of us, it doesn’t mean that. for so many of us, there are all these other steps in the middle, and they’re awkward and painful and self-doubting and messy and complicated and confusing as hell to work through. but they’re important, and they’re necessary to how we eventually come to fuller understandings of ourselves, first as lgbtq individuals and second as part of a larger lgbtq history and community. it’s vital that we see them portrayed as part of that process more, and honestly bless this show for seizing the opportunity to do so, and bless it even more for treating that process with as much delicacy and mess and nuance as it needs.

ahhhhh i really wish I could do something better…….. I need to give a Lot more priority to learning how to do backgrounds that don’t look super bad ;;

ahh. I loved how this game looks… I was so worried, but once they showed it? I feel it really works. The colors are incredible, it still feels like Zelda……. I can’t wait until we can play it ;;

Also!! I’m having screen problems, please tell me if the colors look too burnt/saturated on your screens!

Like every year, here we go, with an art summary! I was a bit surprised noticing that this year I really did FEW completed artworks, aside commissions… I’m not sure what happened this year, I feel like I was dragged month after month here and there.
Also another important note is that since June all my otps has been about ladies being gays and wow nice, maybe it’s the good occasion to learn how to draw smooth woman anatomy. (also Kumirei isn’t here just because I havent finished the piece of art I’m working on, everything I have about them are doodles sdfd)

I noticed at least that since last year I became more precise about lineart and coloring, so maybe I’m not that disgrace I thought. 2017 resolution: shoes and backgrounds. I really need to get a grip on those.

“…Like your idea is any better!!”

Decided to try something out with perspective this weekend. I’m still really bad about my backgrounds and perspective is difficult for me, especially when I’m being naughty and only drawing characters’ faces and bodies instead of where they belong in space. Also washed the colours out like crazy expecting to put some colour into the flats, but I don’t know if I’ll get around to that. Perhaps perhaps.

Some of the background is loosely inspired by my airport. The crisscross runway arrangement and broad parking lot certainly is, the rest is just schmutz because I didn’t lay out a plan.
In spite of all this, I really like how it came out. I love billowing clouds and dull tones that are easy on my eyes.

Gordon and James have an argument somewhere, maybe on a nicer part of the mainland. Gordon is stubborn and James is whiny. I love these two.

The Truth Is

I haven’t been feeling myself lately. I don’t know that it’s dysphoria exactly (though that’s always kicking around in the background), mostly I’ve just not had the time to myself that I need, and there’s just been a lot of other stressful life stuff happening; just a little scattered, a little disconnected, a little less certain of things, and a little shorter on sleep. This last weekend ended well, but I could use a few more of those before I’m really centered again. And tonight, changing out of my work clothes and into something a little more me, I could see only the dissonances for a moment there, could only see myself through a critical lens. And then I put on some lipstick and poured myself a beer, and that was that. The truth is there are tough days, and I get through.

a couple limey commissions

hey guys! i’m finding myself in need of a little extra cash this month and would like to do 1-3 commissions in the coming weeks to help pay off a few things. i don’t really have a proper commission info post anymore (i will in the future and will probably start offering them more regularly soon!), but the prices would most likely be in the $25-$50 range. those aren’t concrete parameters though, depends on the level of detail you’d like for color/lines/simple background, but no nsfw and no more than 2 characters please. we can work out the details once you message me!

examples of what i’ve done before can be found here. if you are interested in commissioning something from me, email me at limeycommissions@gmail.com and we’ll go from there. i really can’t take on more than three at this point so it’ll be first come first serve. thank you so much for reading!! please share if you can!

I love drawing, and if you like what I do, how about commissionning me?

Hi folks, I’m Jaffre, and I can offer you some drawings for money! I have a rather cartoony style, and mostly draw characters on their own or interacting.

I can draw from fandoms to original characters, as long as I have enough references for them.

I could draw animal, anthros and mechas, but this is really out of my skills for the time being, so I’m advising you finding another artist.

I will not take comic requests over 8 pages, and you need to understand that it will take a long time to complete. You can however ask for regular updates on my work.

Backgrounds will be white, transparent or colored to your liking. If transparent, you can ask for a white contour. You can also ask simple colored forms against transparent background (shapes like this, even tho this example is against a white background).

1. Contact me by ask. If you’re more comfortable by email, I’ll give my address to you! I will not reply to anons.
2. We discuss to set up exactly what you want (you can give me some free interpretation if you like surprises, but the more details you give me, the more it’ll be close to what you desire, of course).
3. I send you the payement request via paypal (I will need your email), and I will start working on it once I receive the money.
4. For any work, you can ask for a sketch to be sure things look the way you want them to be, and I will modify it to your liking. Once the sketch is validated, no backoff possible.
5. Once I’m done, I will either send it to you by email and/or post it on my tumblr, to your liking. You can decide to keep it private and thus I will not post it online. Either way, you cannot use my art for commercial purposes.
6. Enjoy your piece of art!

And of course, if you want to see more of my work, check out my art blog!
(I mostly post doodles, but you can see what I like to draw the most!)

This was a big one for me! I really wanted to try something bigger, and grander, with a bunch of characters and a proper setting/background, something which I need to work more on. I had this idea floating around in my head of Greg, and the rest of the older Steven Universe cast hanging out together as their younger selves. See who you can spot!

The Month of Guitar Dad also just kicked off, which was great timing to get this done!

So my last really long worked drawing, that I finished (I think). I still have some doubt for the background on the top of the drawing, but hippano (that you really need to follow guys) helped me about that. It’s the second version, the first one had more white.

Don’t hesitate to tell me what you think on it via the tags, and share it if you like it! :)

  • What she says: I'm fine
  • What she means: I really think about that one review of B.A.P's actual masterpiece album Noir and how the guy said that Le Noir, the opening track, needed to have rain sounds in the background to make it sound better and give you more of a feeling for the rest of the album. Like is he crazy? Rain sounds in the background would have totally ruined the smooth feel of the song and also overshadowed the amazing piano work I don't know who hired that guy to review albums but he did a really shit job Noir was one of the greatest albums of 2016, and he didn't even review all of the songs on the album like who does he think he is comin at my boys like that. Shame on him.

@equinox2011 Yes I suspect Georgina might be the au pair for the twins with her background working as an au pair! Cricky are definitely going to need someone to help look after the babies considering their very busy work life!!!

If it’s true then it’s really wonderful for Cricky isn’t it!!!! I couldn’t be more happy for them :) :)

Soooooo @somexofusxarexhuman has really great art work and is in need of some money. She doesn’t believe me but I say she does lol so I’m posting this here as a signal boost because she’s taking commissions.

Digital commissions start at $10.
If it’s more intricate like a background or more details, the price will be discussed between you guys.

Inked commissions start at $20 and the same applies as digital.

I’m having way too much fun playing Tammah.  I’ve never really liked to play Tauren too much up until now now that I’m trying to play more horde since I’ve barely experienced any part of the horde side of the story (alliance at heart).

So have an evening flat of Tammah, with a shameful screenshot of thunder bluff as a background.  Now to start working on those asks and some other things I need to do art for!
