i-love-this-speech

Taako: You know, not everything has to be a joke. Sometimes you just be honest about your feelings and that’s how I see myself, you know? I may not be the most threatening silhouette, but I like to think of myself as somebody who can stand up for- you know, it doesn’t always have to be goof-goof-dildo machines over here, okay? I’m travelling around with the boner squad, and I never get to just say what I’m feeling. I have emotions! It’s not all abraca-fuck-you and what have you. I have a beating heart! I’m multi-dimensional! I’m a fully-realized creation! FUCK!

“I’m bought and sold, aren’t I?” said Vimes, shaking his head. “Bought and sold.”
“Not at all,” said Vetinari.
“Yes, I am. We all are. Even Rust. And all those poor buggers who went off to get slaughtered. We’re not part of the big picture, right? We’re just bought and sold.”
Vetinari was suddenly in front of Vimes, his chair hitting the floor behind his desk.
“Really? Men marched away, Vimes. And men marched back. How glorious the battles would have been that they never had to fight!” He hesitated, and then shrugged. “And you say bought and sold? All right. But not, I think, needlessly spent.” The Patrician flashed one of those sharp, fleeting little smiles to say that something that wasn’t very funny had nevertheless amused him. “Veni, vici… Vetinari.”

“ugh. you LOVE me?”
“don’t make that face. it’s not like i want to. you’re loud and you talk too much about television for an adult and every single member of your family has friended me on facebook despite the fact that i’ve never spoken to most of them, and most of them have very poor punctuation. in fact, this whole situation is very embarrassing. like herpes. but like herpes, i don’t think it’s curable without taking action. so here i am. telling you. i love you.”
“can you even hear yourself right now?”
“so … what are your thoughts?”
“what are my thoughts? about your i-love-you-like-herpes speech?? which, p.s., herpes is incurable. that shit’s always gonna flare up again.”
“exactly. the metaphor is appropriate.”

“I’ve always believed in numbers and the equations and logics that lead to reason. But after a lifetime of such pursuits, I ask: ‘What truly is logic?’ 'Who decides reason?”

↳ Leo Fitz + A beautiful mind

Smells like teen primadonna spirit.

Bit of background. My little brother was in a high school band, and although I was never part of it, I used to drive them around to gigs and occasionally to the studio. I could drive, and if I helped my little brother out, it meant I got to borrow our Mother’s car for a while, so it wasn’t entirely altruistic.

As well as lil bro (guitar), there was also Kev (vocals), Bob (guitar) and Dave (drums).

This was in the late ‘90s, I was about 19-20 during these events, Lil’ Bro is 2 years younger than me. They were a rock/grunge band. Kev was very much the ringleader. His Dad worked for a local radio station at a town about 100 miles away, and Kev would often insist on making decisions for the band because his Dad’s background trumped everything. His Dad was a producer.
Mostly all happy times, although Kev would often pick on Dave, and drummers in general. “What do you call a guy who hangs out with musicians? A drummer.” Etc.

The Power of Friendship (Ruined my Final Boss)

Context: (Same group as the story about six-inch goblin dick, but different story, different submitter.) It’s my first time DMing, an it’s everyone else’s first time playing. The party consists of a Goblin Bard, (Gobbo) Halfling Rogue, (Milo) and a Human Fighter (Knottley). Long story short, the Bard failed to listen to sincere advise from an NPC, failed some critical rolls, and ended up as a Chaotic Evil Lich.

[Sometime halfway through the Lich’s health]

Fighter, OOC: Can I ask him to… not do this?

DM: Yes, you can make a persuasion check. [Pause.] Talking is a free action.

Fighter, OOC: Oh! Then I’ll do it.

Fighter: Little Goblin man, do not do this! We are friends.

DM: Roll persuasion.

Fighter, OOC: … That’s a five. Minus three.

[Laughter from around the table.]

DM: Alright, Gobbo, roll to see if you get a nat 1 against persuasion.

Bard, OOC: Okay. [Rolls a nat 1]

[A good moment of stunned silence, and then laughter from everyone but me.]

DM: Alright. Alright. Alright. Cool. That’s great.

Bard, OOC: I’m sorry.

DM: No, I love it! I love it! So, Gobbo, this speech, it pulls at your heart strings. You remember, you are not a murderer, you are a scholarly goblin. You went to college-

Bard, OOC: The college of swords!

DM: [sighs] Yes, the college of swords. You remember, that these people are your friends, and you are not a killer. So…

[I wrap up the story line, (entailing the power of flight, as well as beating up the person who sent them on the quest and Gobbo becoming the “court lich”) and after some laughter (once again, everyone but me,)…]

DM: Oh my god. [Fighter’s Player], this is your folk hero destiny! You saved the world from an awful lich!

Fighter, OOC: Oh my god, I did!

DM: With the power of friendship!

Bard, OOC: Because of a nat 1…

DM: Good god, this is a power of friendship story! My worst nightmare!

[Laughter ensues.]

I really loved Jared’s heartfelt speech about Chester and Chris, as a Linkin Park fan I really appreciate it and I love the fact that Jared MADE people stand to honor Chester. It’s so fucking fucked up that he had to ask TWICE for them to show some respect and stand up for Chester. I’m so mad at the audience.

And I’m so mad at MTV for that lame tribute to Chester. MTV literally cut to commercials during tribute performance of Linkin Park. Like, what the HELL?

How insensitive, disrespectful and disgusting can people be?

See, I loved the whole speech that Rick gave Jerry, and I think it’s very true and that he needed to be called out on it, but now all I’m seeing are people who think that Rick is completely without fault in this relationship and are using the speech as a reason to justify their adoration of Rick, and I don’t know how I feel about that.

If you are a book lover, or if you appreciate librarians or if libraries have been a second home to you, you will relate to this speech. Hillary explains why librarians and libraries are critical in today’s time. She even gives a shout out to Harry Potter! You should watch it (x)

do you ever think about how when even was manic he said 'we're so going to get married' and then when he was depressed he said 'in another universe we're together for all eternity' and cry

I cry more about what that turned into actually??? They started off talking on such a grand scale, “man of my life” and “married” and “eternity”, and while that might be romantic… I feel like that didn’t serve Even particularly well? If you’re living life as a film, you might make the big gesture and let the curtain fall. If you’re living life thinking of all the parallel universes, you can comfort yourself that one of them is getting it ‘right’. What I really loved about season three was that it wasn’t too precious about anything, Isak and Even enjoyed all the talk about the infinite and du er mannen i mitt liv but it wasn’t what ended up actually meaning the most to them.

What wound up being the most important thing was you and me and this bed and now. And then ‘move in with me because I want you and your dirty socks and your elbow next to mine on the kitchen table’. The everyday, every day. The “now” means more to me than any hypothetical forever and they’re giving everything they could right at this minute. That’s what gets me more than anything with them, seeing them take such good care of each other because they aren’t counting on anything else. Because life is
