I’ve seen Cinderella just yesterday. Seldom has a movie ever left such a deep mark in my eyes, head and heart.
Can it be the fact that Cinderella is that One Fairytale of my childhood I never got tired of hearing? Can it be that the 1950 Disney classic holds such a special place in my heart?
Maybe. But this movie is, aside from everything, beautiful in itself. I loved it to bits. Like every single second I stared at the screen I enjoyed beyond words.
The settings are still imprinted on my eyes, the photography was stunning; I loved the characterizations they added, they gave more depth to an ancient fairytale and made it suitable for modern audiences without altering anything and that’s so hard to achieve these days.
The casting, despite what some say, was completely spot on. Ella was perfect, and I love the fact that she was not the typical striking, classic beauty, but a graceful, clean and simple beauty. That’s just how Cinderella is supposed to be.
And the prince?
I also loved Cate Blanchett as Lady Tremaine enormously. Great performance, great rendition of the character.
Sure going to rewatch. And rewatch. And rewatch. And rewatch.
p.s.: also whAT ABOUT FROZEN FEVER? And KRISTOFF’S “I LOVE YOU BABY”?
