i kind of write them as if there's only two

Do you have ideas on how to start a study journal strictly for literature? I want to focus on it while keeping track of what I learn, but there's so much to learn in a book! Do you have advice? :)

Hi there lovely ♥ Oh, wow, what a lovely idea! You’re right about that, most novels have a lot of information contained in them. The way I see it, there’s a couple of ways you could go about it:

  1. Compile as you go. You could dedicate two to three pages to each novel, and just write down everything that strikes you in the book, in a stream-of-consciousness kind of way.
  2. Facts and themes. You could dedicate two to three pages to each novel, and write down only facts and themes, like the name of the author, the time in which the novel was published, and the dominant themes (e.g. “Bildungsroman”, “fantasy”, “religion”).
  3. Passages. Instead of writing down facts and themes, you can collect all of the passages that really popped out at you, with page numbers, so you can look at it later and quickly find what you’re looking for.
  4. Do all of the above. Start with facts and themes, collect passages you like, and compile anything that pops into your head and strikes your fancy as you’re reading the novel.

I hope that helps a little! xxx
