One problem with Yahoo is that they put all their focus on $$$ and none of it on users and it shows. It’s shortsighted to money grab instead of building brand loyalty. Xkit’s anti-capitalism extension blocks these awful autoplay ads. But it takes it a second to kick in and so I’m getting 2-3 second of men yelling at me about shit I don’t care about.
I don’t think this is the end of tumblr, but we are probably approaching a tipping point as frustrated users. From 2005-2010 fandom wanted to leave LJ. People set up Dreamwidth accounts and cross-posted, but never actually left. Until people ended up here. We’ll end up somewhere else at some point–when there’s a new platform exciting enough to attract new users and existing ones. Then we have to hope Yahoo doesn’t buy it.
Anyway. Probably not a bad idea to backup your tumblr:
I’ve told you my stories for years now. Some have been about coming of age. Some have been about coming undone. This is a story about coming into your own, and as a result… coming alive. I hope you know that you’ve given me the courage to change. I hope you know that who you are is who you choose to be, and that whispers behind your back don’t define you. You are the only one who gets to decide what you will be remembered for. From the girl who said she would never cut her hair or move to New York or find happiness in a world where she is not in love…
“So, tell me, what was your relationship with the templars?”
Arden’s heart dropped into her stomach at the ambassador’s question. It was a loaded question under normal circumstances. But for Arden…
Memories flashed in her mind of hushed giggles in silent corners and abandoned classrooms; of secret meetings in the dead of night; of intellectual conversations broken by the intimate sighs and stifled moans of two young women wrapped in the moment, in each other.
She tried to remain as aloof and diplomatic as she could with her answer. “I was completely infatuated with one of the templars in our Circle,” she said in a tone she hoped was dismissive.
“Wait,” May started as she fiddled with the brochure in her hands, catching Drew’s attention.
He rolled his eyes upward to meet hers from the book he’d been skimming through. He was actually pretty interested in certain types of Mega Evolution since he had one Pokemon capable of it, but he wanted to make sure that he looked like whatever he was reading wasn’t more important than listening to whatever May had to say about anything at all.
I’ve always wondered about one thing… do you need big hands in order to play the piano?
I’ve always wanted to learn it, but my parents never could afford lessons, let alone a piano and I’ve been thinking about trying to learn how to play it after moving out in a few years. (I hope it’s not too late at this age;;)
I have very small hands and fingers though, so I’m not sure if it’s even possible :c
I have had these pictures done for the next chapter for ages! I just need to get my writer brain with the program. (My brain only wants to bake cookies, play my violin, and actually clean my house! WTF brain? We never want to clean our house!) Keri has been waiting for a ride in this cafe for weeks!
i want to talk about brooke in early season one / pre - season one. more specifically the person she was before she grew into herself and why she was that person. i believe this had a lot to do with the disarray of her home life. it’s canon knowledge that her parents were unhappily married at a young age. a child being thrown into the mix of it all did anything but make it better. victoria, her mother, never wanted children. brooke was her burden, so she was distant. ted, her father, had hoped for a boy over a girl and was disappointed when out came brooke. the strain in their relationship - though they didn’t have much of one - is largely because of this. the memories she has of her parents from her childhood aren’t good. they argued - A LOT. and when they weren’t arguing they were out of town for days at a time without their daughter. yes, she was left alone. they never gave her the attention a child desires from their parents. instead, they lavished her with money in hopes of keeping her content but no amount could have ever made up for that lack of love.
the older she got, the bolder she got - and at this point she was practically STARVED for that attention. the absence of parental authority and discipline made it all that much more easy to act out in the ways she wanted to. INSERT MORGAN FINLEY. i know - who ?? the writers never touched on her character much but i’d like to stand by the fact that she is very crucial to brooke’s early development. morgan is described as the ‘ senior bitch, captain of the cheerleaders ‘ who spent a lot of time picking on those she felt lesser than her. it’s mentioned once that brooke was something of a protege to her, walking in her footsteps. that’s enough to know this character had an incredibly significant impact on brooke. at this point in time, brooke no older than 14 or 15, is highly impressionable. she walked like her, talked like her, and did everything that morgan would do. she, of course, never thought of it as being wrong because morgan was inadvertently helping brooke fill this empty void in her life. whether it be with partying, drinking, drugs or hooking up with boys. brooke had this fabricated sense of happiness when she was doing these things - and so she didn’t stop.
and let’s not forget the popularity that came with being best buds with the schools reigning queen bee. throughout early school years i imagine brooke to have already had a wide group of friends. she’s bubbly, she’s outgoing, and she comes from money. these things attract that sort of attention. but now she’s a tree hill raven’s cheerleader and she’s doing things that she’s shaped herself into believing make her ‘ fit in. ‘ this is another thing that feeds into that desperate need for attention. she loves being the center of it. people know her name. they want to be her friend. she finally feels important and relevant and adored, and that’s not a feeling she wants to let go of even if it means stepping on a few people to stay there. brooke was quite literally, as she once said, a bitch for the sake of being one if only to maintain that sort of place of power where she could easily get that sought after desire whenever and however she wanted.
it’s phenomenal to see how much she’s grown from this. and brooke’s development is easily one of the biggest and best i’ve ever seen. this hardly even covers a quarter of her character, but those are more meta posts for another time xo.
