A Comprehensive Study of David Tennant’s Hair

David Tennant Appreciation Week: Day One

Hair: Whether his hair is wet or dry, blowing in the wind or lying flat, freshly ruffled or perfectly styled, sticky-uppy or permed, wavy and weird from the leftover growing out perm or even in a long plait you can’t deny that he has really great hair.

I hope I don't trigger you, but I have to know... Will Blackrock ever be finished? Not in videos, but you mentioned writing the rest of Blackrock. I love Blackrock, I practically grew up with it. (I've been watching it since I was 11 lol) I know this sounds cheesy, but I'd love to know how my favorite childhood story ends before I set off to collage next year. Thanks🙂 <3

I’ve sat down to write up a couple of details, answers, story beats, and origin stuff a few times but I’ve never quite been satisfied with it. It always feels dry and unimportant. I realized after a while that I was trying to give people something I can never give - real closure.

So I started thinking of why I was doing this. I know a lot of people want the answers to questions still left unanswered - especially since it was left on a cliffhanger. But I honestly think it’s better left this way.

I can’t give you what you want, and anything else is a poor substitute that will just end up closing the door on a world that there are still people enjoying. I’ve seen so much great fan creations for Blackrock, and so many theories and ideas of everything, and I don’t want to shut that down. At this point, anything I make will feel like a weird post-series spinoff. And I don’t want that.

I think back to stuff like the Dark Disciple book for Star Wars: Clone Wars, or the Buffy/Angel comic books. They were well written, and they were official, they were canon, and so on. But to me they never really felt like the same thing, and they couldn’t compete to “the real thing”. And while I would never compare myself to the talented people who made those, in this regard, as a creator, I’m making the decision to leave Blackrock as it is.

I wish I’d made this decision earlier and not dragged it out so long. I’m sorry for that, and I’m sorry if this disappoints some people, but I genuinely think it’s better this way. The Blackrock world is your world now. I wish I could finish it the way it deserves, but it’s just not happening. Let your theories, headcanons and universes run wild, and don’t let my “real canon” stop you.

A Writer’s PSA

Firstly: I just saw an interesting post made by @caplanbuckybarnes (who I can’t tag, but that’s okay), that inspired both anger and relief in me at once. I was compelled to type out this PSA.

Secondly: I am tagging everyone who has asked to be tagged in The Irrelevance of Napoli SO YOU CAN SEE HOW GODDAMN AWESOME THEY ARE BEFORE I START THIS.

@thecrownedrose @persephone-is-here-omg @find-me-here2 @captainamerotica @redgillan @angryschnauzer @ursulaismymiddlename @rebelslicious @kittykitty-mewmeww @erisjade @siren-kitten-his @buckyappreciationsociety @kozmicrock @aingealcethlenn @rachelle-on-the-run @thewinterswimmer @vaisabu @inside-lizzys-head @angryschnauzer @melconnor2007

Thirdly: I am doing this more for the sake of my upcoming fic, Cherchez la Femme, which I have been working on for MONTHS–probably since Septemberish–than I am for Napoli. Also doing this for the sake of other authors who may feel this way, but don’t want to say anything for fear of making people mad. I personally am tired of dealing with my own anxiety about this subject, so I’m getting this off my chest.

I am exceedingly frustrated by the majority of attitudes (or non attitudes) I see towards anything that is not a one-shot on here. ESPECIALLY if it’s smut.

I like smut. I love smut. I’ve read some really good smut on here. But… that’s not all I’ve read on here. When I first got on Tumblr, I found some really unique and interesting fics, and I got very invested in them. But lately, the majority of what I’ve been seeing on this site is the same damn thing, over and over and over again. Smut one shots, no plot, no character development, no nothing. Those fics I was invested in were discontinued (temporarily, I hope) in favor of smut one shots, which, like I said, I don’t mind, but ya know… I also do.

Authors are capable of writing more than smut one shots.

Authors are capable of writing more than smut one shots. And many of them do write more than smut one shots. But I have seen two (2) of the multi-part fics I follow being seriously reblogged. That’s out of A LOT that I happen to read and like. One of my favorites got put on hiatus because there were no reads on the most recent chapter at the time.

Tumblr, seriously, what is going on? Like, I recognize that we all want to imagine ourselves having sex with some version of Sebastian Stan (ME TOO, I AM NOT EXCLUDING MYSELF FROM THAT GROUP) but some of these people have worked ages, ages on these fics. With well-developed characters and plot and settings and serious issues that are worked through. THESE PEOPLE I READ SHOULD WRITE ORIGINAL CONTENT AND GET PUBLISHED. In my world, they would. Because they are that good.

And yet, they get almost no recognition. And it frustrates me, and scares me, and makes me really, really sad. Some might say, “Tumblr is more (something else) than fanfic for me”–which is fine. Please engage in whatever joy may have brought you to Tumblr. But also remember that for others, it IS about fanfic, and they enjoy doing that just as much as you enjoy doing whatever you do. So hit the like button every once in a while. Read more fics of your favorite characters. Some might say, “I have –something that gives me a shorter attention span–, I can’t remember what happened before this chapter/can’t concentrate enough to get through a whole fic in the time I have”–in which case, you are fine, don’t worry about it, not a big deal. Some of you may say, “Works in progress are annoying, I hate waiting for new parts to come out”–and trust me, I’m right there with you. I’m waiting on a few new parts for fics myself (I’m also waiting for Diana Gabaldon’s next Outlander book, goddammit), but that doesn’t stop me from reading and commenting on the parts that are there! Tell the author that you have something to look forward to until the next part comes out! Also, TELL THE AUTHOR IF YOU ARE WAITING FOR THEM TO COMPLETE IT, or ask to be tagged in the final masterlist! We won’t mind if you do it that way! Some of you may just hate longer fics and there’s nothing anybody can do to change that. In which case, whatever floats your boat.

I’m not getting on anyone in the above paragraph to suddenly change your preferences and start reading fics with more than two parts. What I am saying, though, is if you consume, but don’t comment AND reblog (or at least tag and reblog), or if you don’t consume at all and blatantly ignore what authors are putting out there… come on, guys. We put our heart and souls into this stuff. Some of the stuff we write is taken from real life. Some people don’t have anything but their writing to help them get through what may be a really bad stage. Likes, comments, reblogs–writers need these. We don’t all have to be JK Rowling here, but we do hope to see that someone smiles or laughs, or cries, or feels in some way with our fics.

One of my friends on here was very sad a couple of days ago because she was getting very few notes on even her one-shots, or reblogs with no comments. She has 700+ followers and a taglist that’s a mile long. It made me sad for her, and I can’t even hug her because she lives far away from me. Readers, you don’t have to comment or reblog every chapter of a fic that’s been written, it’s really okay if you don’t, but let the reader know that you like it and acknowledge the work that’s been done.

I’m still relatively tiny on here, and I definitely need to follow more blogs, so I will now go looking. But, indulge me for a second: If, when I publish Cherchez, I deem it as not getting enough notes, I will make a goddamn video of myself deleting the thing off my computer and burning the damn notebooks. I started by writing this stuff for me. Napoli ended up being about someone I know who recently died. Cherchez was what I wrote when I was coming out of a breakdown. So yes, I write for myself. But as soon as I put it up here, it becomes yours. You consume it, you feel because of it. So really, guys, read all the smut you want. I know I’m going to. But read more than smut, too.

Someone who is a teeny bit oversmutted

Poirot: *upset he can’t solve case*

Hastings: “This is not like you, Poirot.”

Poirot: “Well, this is not like the grey cells, Hastings! I have given them every chance. They have been cosseted. I have slept to allow them to do their work. I have eaten fish for breakfast. Result – nothing!”

Hastings: “It’ll come, Poirot. The little grey cells have never let you down yet.”

  • All Might: I've never been on a Guys' Night Out before. Was that last bit supposed to happen?
  • Present Mic: What bit was that?
  • All Might: The bit where the bar was set on fire.
  • Aizawa: Not usually.

I've never seen this question asked and thought you would be the one who might know. First, do you think KDS knows the true story about Sam and Cait. What do you think happened before and after that IFH with Sam and Cait. Would they have told KDS the truth and then why they asked her (why they had to) do the interview? Basically, how much does KDS know and how would that interview set up been handled before, during and after. Sam was upset but really, so was KDS. She had teary eyes. Thanks!

I’d bet whichever kid is pissing me off the least this week, $40 in Kohl’s cash and my left tit that she knows. KDS fangirls with the best of them but she really came across like the cat that swallowed the canary. I miss her and wish she was still working closely with the show. I understand the reach goes further with print media, but she really seems to be able to build a trust and rapport, and she is superb at not spilling the beans when it comes to spoilers - both onscreen and off.

Sick Days 3.0 #23

23: Not the Norm
Your character isn’t doing too well, but it’s not because of the normal culprits. Basically, all illnesses/ailments here should be non-bacterial, non-viral, and non-fungal!
Suggestions: Motion sickness, psychosomatic, response to pain, response to a stimulus in their environment (a smell, a taste), overeating, over drinking, hangover, migraine, hypothermia, heat exhaustion, heat stroke.

[Fandom: Spider-Man: Homecoming]

In hindsight, Peter should have known that diving into an icy river to intercept an enemy with a sneak attack was a bad idea, but at the time, he was more than thrilled with his quick thinking as he dove into the river. He hadn’t planned on the villain getting away, nor had he planned on his suit’s heating abilities to malfunction. To be frank, he just hadn’t planned. He had gotten sucked into the heat of battle with the want to impress the city as his driving force, and now he’s left a drenched mess as he walks along a hidden path with no clear direction in mind.

Well, walking wouldn’t be the correct word because his shivering has his muscles screaming in protest. He’s more or less stumbling along a dark path framed by trees. There’s a brief thought that he should be worried; the enemy did escape after all, but he’s centering his concern on not dying of hypothermia. He knows the signs and symptoms, one of the many perks of his useful brain, so he’s holding onto the small hope that he’s sort of okay because he’s still shivering, but warming up soon would honestly be in his best interest if he wants to wake up tomorrow and continue being a hero.

However, hope is becoming a fleeting thought lost against a slowing mind as he continues forward with shaking, staggering steps. His body feels heavy, like anchors are tied to his feet and threatening to pull him through the frozen ground and out of existence. His thoughts are a jumbled mess, but he still catches onto a fading tip and presses two icy fingers to the inside of his wrist. His pulse is a weak thump against his fingertips, and his initial reaction is to curse, but his words come out in a slow slur as if he’s had one too many to drink.

It’s hard, but he manages to pick up his pace despite his limbs moving similar to a newborn deer. But suddenly, like a beacon of light bursting through a clutter of dark, storm clouds, he spots a light, not just any light either. It’s a massive light that extends high above the trees, and he stumbles toward it.

After two minutes, he reaches an empty highway that looks strangely familiar to his tired eyes, and one slow drag of his gaze shows the highway leading toward the light. He follows it, stumbling along the paved road for what feels like years, but finally, the road shifts and narrows, and next thing his mind can process, he’s stumbling toward a large gate with a curved A across the front.

On the gate is a small panel with a button, and he presses it with a shaking finger and waits for an answer.

“You’re a long way from home, Parker.”

“H-Happy?” Peter asks weakly before giving in to his bucking knees. His finger slides off button as he collapses to the ground. He can hardly keep his eyes open, and though he’s faintly aware that sleeping equals danger, he cannot physically keep his eyes from drooping closed. He can faintly hear the gate squeaking open, and then everything goes black.

“Should we make a rule that you aren’t allowed to chase danger alone? Do I need to assign you a babysitter?”

Tony Stark’s voice is not the first thing Peter expects to hear when waking up, and he tugs at broken memories for an answer as to why Tony Stark is here. But, his mind is too cut and jagged. He remembers fighting, then water, and after that, everything is just cold, too cold.

“I had it handled,” he rasps out, voice weak and cracking and sounding so foreign to his ears.

“So that’s why you showed up at our doorstep toeing death? Definitely seems like you had it handled.”

Peter frowns at Tony’s words, and he rolls his head to the side until he can see the older man eased in a chair pulled at his bedside. “What? toeing death?”

“Have you ever heard of hypothermia?”

Oh, Peter thinks as he drags his gaze back to the ceiling. That one word glues the broken pieces of his mind together, and the previous night’s events come back like a bucket of ice water to his face. He shivers and burrows deeper under the covers. “There may have been a slight blip in my plan.”

“You call diving into a river in the middle of winter ‘a slight blip?’”

“I wasn’t anticipating on my suit to malfunction,” Peter fires back weakly, and Tony sighs loudly at this.

“Well, it won’t be malfunctioning again anytime soon.”

Peter ignores his aching muscles in favor of shooting up into a sitting position with sharp gasp. “You are taking it away from me?” His words are frantic, and his voice holds a small tremor.

“Easy, kid. You’ll get it back once we finish adjusting it. For now, we need to set rules.”

Peter frowns. “If heroes had rules, we wouldn’t get anything done.”

“You want me to keep this suit forever?”

Peter drops back against the pillows with a narrow gaze but doesn’t argue further. He rolls his eyes when Tony starts ticking off ground rules.

“Number one: Use the Buddy System. Take that Ted friend with you if you have to; I don’t care. You are no longer allowed to go anywhere alone…”

BTS really out here making history and setting the standards TOO high, performing at the AMAs, rumored to be on Ellen, and joining partnership with UNICEF to end violence. I’ve literally never been this proud to stan anyone before in my entire life. These boys are a few of the most genuine good-hearted artists out there and they deserve every single good thing happening to them. Every. Single. One.

I never posted my diiiice
Unfortunately the pretty sets are Cursed, but that doesn’t stop me from trying to redeem them every Sunday morning before we play and just hoping for a few good spins
I’ve also become the Designated Dice Bank to borrow from when people don’t have their own

If I am to leave any lasting impact on this fandom, may it be that calling Hiei an ~edgelord~ sticks.

The thing I am most proud of, in ALL of Lucky Child, is that I described Hiei as an ~edgy~ McEdgeLord. I hadn’t seen him called that before and just—dang. HIEI IS SUCH AN EDGELORD IN EARLY YYH AND I LOVE IT SO SO MUCH. I’ve been told a few other authors have started using the term to describe him, too, which is iiiiiiinteresting. Is this becoming a meme? HAVE I CREATED A MEME?

No, Lucky. All you have created are delusions of grandeur. Sit down.

Sorry for the spam, but I've been wondering about something. What would have happened if: 1) Raowl hadn't died and Ri had grown up on Melring? 2) Mihawk had been the one to find a safe place for Ri before Raowl's death? 3) Shanks had ultimately decided that Ri would be safer where could keep a permanent eye on her, and took her with him aboard his ship? (I know the last one would never have happened, because it would have been incredibly hypocritical if he did, but I've still wondered about it).

1) She wouldn’t have joined the Strawhat pirates; might have even set out à la Mihawk style to make a name for herself. I like to think she’d have found Luffy herself anyway.

2) She wouldn’t have left Mihawk’s side, trailing after him wherever he goes, much to everyone’s astonishment.

3) “So I see you’re following in my footsteps, Upstart.”

“Hey! Gully’s the only child I’ll ever have aboard the Red Force, and even then only because she’s so mature… That and I can keep the boys off her that way.” Shanks pauses, glancing over to Whitebeard’s newest addition, who’s chatting to Riskua, a bashful smile on his face. His little Gully’s leaning against the railing, but her body tilts towards the kid, the only that’s Luffy’s brother. Shanks takes it back, he doesn’t like that kid at all.

“They look like they get along well!”

“Don’t go down Big Mom’s path,” Shanks snaps, a scowl on his face as he watches the duo edge a bit closer to one another. He has a ‘little chat’ to break up.
