i've been meaning to get one for a while

  • Justin: Um, Roman Mars says that if there's a revolving door and you use the one next to it that isn't revolving then you're a monster. 'Cause they're so efficient and great.
  • Griffin: Can I, um, can I ask you a question Justin? I've been meaning to ask you this for a while.
  • Justin: Uh-huh?
  • Griffin: Why don't you just go do a podcast with Roman Mars?
  • Justin: Um. If he would have me I would love to, to get over there. I have a lot of good ideas for like, not like this show, but like, for his show like Smart Stuff, you know what I mean? Like, real thinkers. Not like - I can't stress this enough - not like THIS show, but like, smart, erudite podcasting. That's, I feel like, my true calling and. I really feel like my light's under a bushel.
  • Travis: Justin, do you wanna do like a weird backdoor for pilot for Smart Stuff with Justin and Roman right now, and just like, give us a topic you might discuss on Smart Stuff?
  • Justin: Yeah, I'll give you an example and this would be like co-hosted by me and Roman, okay? So I'll kinda leave blanks for his-
  • Griffin: I'll do- No, I can do Roman.
  • Justin: No, I'm just gonna leave blanks for his parts, okay?
  • Griffin: You don't even wanna hear my Roman?
  • Justin: No! You can try later.
  • ...
  • Justin: Remember it's like an erudite, kinda smart podcast.
  • Griffin: Yeah, yeah, like a podcast where you know the host knows the word erudite.

vika, i need relationship advice? a long while back you mentioned your relationship with your now-husband (congrats!!!!!!!!!! 💕💕) was a healthy one. how did you know? i've been in two very unhealthy relationships in the past and now i don't know how to recognize a healthy one. sorry if this is an annoying question!

No, your question is great, don’t worry about it!

First of all, I think that since every person is different, they have different understanding of what “healthy” means, so the main points can alter a bit. As in, some couples enjoy arguing, both getting good emotions out of it, so for them it’s a way of healthy.

As for the main points, there still should be general “rules”.

• you don’t beat each other up in order to prove anything, that you’re right, that you’re stronger, etc etc.. Hitting your partner in a nose with an elbow by accident or playfully LIGHTLY tapping don’t count.

• you don’t make up the ideal and then consider whether or not your partner fits in the borders of it. Changing them if they don’t, being angry that they can’t change. The changes in relationships are completely normal, but both go through changes willingly.

• you listen to each other opinions, trying to understand them if your opinion differs. One doesn’t bully the other no matter how much they disagree. Both should be willing to find a compromise and respect that this other human being that is not me can in fact have a different opinion!

• you talk to each other about something you don’t like instead of forming an inner snowball. If someone did or didn’t do something you have expected them to (or you disagree with), talk it out. Don’t go all gloomy for a week and then spill it all out. Don’t constantly remind someone about what they did 5 years ago and how wrong and horrible it was.

• you help and support each other no matter what, and you don’t try to ruin your partner’s passion if you don’t share it. If one wants to do something, to work somewhere, to invest in a hobby they love so much - support them. The support partners give each other can make them grow amazingly.

• you don’t lie to each other, but don’t be BRUTALLY honest. If there is something that may hurt your partner but they need to know it, be kind.

• you seek happiness for your partner, and don’t want to purposefully hurt them and ruin them with your words.

• YOU RESPECT EACH OTHER. And hopefully, don’t want to use your partner like an object. You value them.

•Also!! I remembered: hang out with your friends and let your partner do the same! Don’t be posessive of each other.

I can go on forever and I might have missed out something important, because there is so much in my head, but! I wrote the main things I consider important.

Also, I’m sorry it sounds so “you do that and you don’t do this”, it’s just the easiest way to form out my thoughts, so!

@christopherpowelllover asked for a new art piece with Chris and @gayforgayle suggested I draw my Mc and him a few weeks or months ago so that’s what I did and I’m so happy of the result!! why I like abusive ships.

I like abusive/ dysfunctional/ unhealthy ships. I like them because they’re different than the typical “fluffy” ships. I like them because their angst is different than what “normal” ships go through and the dynamic is interesting. I like abusive and dysfunctional and unhealthy ships because abusive and dysfunctional and unhealthy relationships exist and it’s important to recognize them for what they are. I am not a bad person who thinks these sort of relationships are good  and healthy, I am a person who is interested by the dynamics and character development that occurs in such ships and I am a person who believes others need to be made aware of these relationships because they actually exist. I am not justifying the actions of the characters, nor am I denying that these ships are abusive and unhealthy. I am appreciating them as plot and character development devices while acknowledging that the are abusive and unhealthy.

Tl;dr, please stop shaming people for liking abusive ships. Liking an abusive ship does not mean I support abuse.

phlying-squirrel  asked:

Do you think Lance will be like really depressed and moody in season 3? Until they find Shiro that is.

(rip this is late oops) i think they all will be pretty sad about shiro but idk if Lance will be like….depressed? personally i don’t really headcanon him with any severe depression but i mean, i’m sure he’ll not have a super fun time for the start of season 3. because, personally, i think allura will want to make sure the team can form voltron as soon as possible and if they can’t find shiro, then they need to make sure each lion will have a pilot. i think she’ll ask lance if she can take blue, because she is the most accepting of new pilots and they don’t have time to find another recruit to fill the missing space on their team. lance clearly doesn’t want to be separated from blue… so i don’t think he’ll be very happy about it, especially if it means keith takes the black lion (which i’m sure he’d be jealous of) and he’ll get red. since, to me it looks like his insecurities have been getting worse and worse due to the behaviors he’s shown us (getting defensive and snappy at keith when he thought keith might be after blue, blowing up at shiro for picking keith to go on the mission instead of him…doubting his position on the team and thinking he’s not worth keeping as he doesn’t even know what he contributes…)

because these insecurities are started to bubble up more, shiro disappearing might cause a bunch of different things to happen. personally, i think it’s gonna stress everyone the fuck out because shiro was their /leader/, and that stress is gonna start some arguments most likely. what are they gonna do next? should they look for shiro or should they keep fighting the galra while they are at their weakest moment? i think the stress of the entire situation (shiro disappearing, lance having to leave blue and go to red) it’s gonna push lance a little too far and it’s gonna have some sort of result on the rest of the team and lance that i don’t think will be good.

maybe lance will try to leave thinking that he doesn’t belong and they can find a better, less pathetic replacement for keith? maybe he’ll try to do something reckless because he thinks that will prove his worth to the team? (maybe that’s what jeremy meant when he joked about “lance dying” at wondercon. now i absolutely doubt that lance will be killed off, but i can see him trying to do something reckless that results in him getting badly hurt again and it causes the team to erupt into chaos because they actually cannot function without him. lance is canonically the heart of the team after all. he is their center, the one who brings them all together as he is the biggest team player and is the one who’s always going on about working together and bonding as a team and such. that’s part of his role, even if he doesn’t see it. without lance, team voltron cannot work together.)

i feel like, whatever happens to lance, while it most likely will not be pretty for him, its going to teach him what his true role on this team is. he’s going to realize what his place is, that the team needs him in order to work together. and i think, it will work out in the end.

also, this probably doesn’t mean anything, but there is something i wanna point out because i do think it’s interesting.

ever think about how the team nearly fell apart when pidge got them all together and told them she wanted to leave? you know who was missing from that picture? it was lance. (and coran) i wonder, if lance were there with the rest of the group, maybe he could have convinced pidge to stay. after all, he is one of the paladins who is more familiar with her (the other two being shiro and hunk). lance is the glue that holds everyone together. maybe he could have talked pidge out of it. after all, he has shown to be other people’s ([coughcoughKeith’s]) impulse control as well, i don’t see why he wouldn’t be able to talk pidge out of leaving. he’s shown to be a rational thinker when his mind isn’t on the glory and getting laid lmao. i can see him being all like “ok but pidge what are you gonna do? take on the galra all by your self? what happens if you get captured? or injured? what if you run out of food and water? literally how do you expect to survive on your own without any help? you won’t even be able to save your family if you get captured or worse…”

so basically, what i’m trying to say is this moment could be an example of what happens when lance isn’t there to hold the team together, y’know?

but anyways, this is all what i think, though. it doesn’t mean any of it will happen, anything can happen. this is all just theoretical and what i think is most likely going to happen based on what i’ve seen so far. so yea

depressed lance? idk. i think he’ll get one hell of a character development arc though.

Hey, I don't mean to be bothering you but I have a question for you about being a storyboard artist - how different is it from being an animator? I've been unemployed for a while and a job has just popped up in my area for a storyboard artist. I trained as an animator but ended up hating it to the point it very negatively affected my mental health... but I am kind of desperate for a job and would have a good chance of getting this one with my degree... I'm just not sure I want it if it's similar

an animator makes the characters move; a storyboard artist basically maps out the scenes and composes all the shots. it can be quite time-consuming if it’s a show with a lot of action but personally it’s my favourite job out of everything you can do in animation since it allows you the most creative control and idk I just. love it.

Prince Charles Xavier is Deputy Commander of the TEF Heartsteel and the newest mission they’ve been assigned starts out less than desirable and quickly goes downhill from there. It’s alright, though, he’ll cope.

It doesn’t help, though, that he’s in unrequited love with his best friend and Commander of the Heartsteel, War-Prince Erik Lehnsherr.

  • Aaron: Like that's ever gonna happen. All the stuff you do, you just get away with it.
  • Robert: Yeah, must have been born lucky.
  • Aaron: Or jammy. But seriously though, you will be careful, won't you? No one to watch your back while I'm in here. (buzzer)
  • Robert: Feels like I've only been here five minutes.
  • Aaron: Tell me about it. You'll come back soon, yeah?
  • Robert: Like you have to ask. (reaches under the table, touches his knee) Seriously, seeing you, it means everything.
  • Aaron: I know. Same here. I'd better be going, yeah?
  • Robert: You'll be okay?
  • Aaron: I'll be fine. Stop worrying. I'll see ya. (gets up, runs into Jase) Ooh!
  • Jason: Sorry about that, mate. You good?
  • Aaron: Yeah, you?
  • Jason: Never been better. It's turning into a really interesting day.

i’m currently experiencing the pleasant side of surgeons being absolute tactile jocks and as a touch-starved nerd i am living

i’ve only been working a week and already:

  • the head of a department ruffled my nape after i joked with him in a way that surprised him cause i look ten yo and i decided to joke with who i did not then know was the head of a department
  • after joking about tight spaces forcing us to tango around each other a colleague has taken to humming and briefly touching my waist before grabbing whatever i’m in the way of as i swerve
  • (social anxiety can eat me. i got inside jokes with people)
  • i was patted on the head in way of greeting. it was weird but amusing
  • and there have been so many times when they just acknowledge their passing with a little pat on the back or whatever
  • a surgeon almost knocked me over cause she backed into me and then proceeded to grab my flailing form around the waist and straight up kiss my cheek like we’d rehearsed a dance move. she wasn’t even the one i have the inside joke with
  • (no but seriously there is no space)

it’s like working with a bunch of slightly condescending puppies

Hey! I've really been enjoying your evaluation of the different breeds! I hope this becomes a regular and you eventually get through all the popular breeds, even the fairly healthy ones. So, what about Shih Tzus. While I only intend on ever adopting rather than a breeder, it's still my favorite breed. I understand they are probably pretty problematic because of their faces. Can you do them next?

If by ‘next’ you mean ‘over a week later’, then sure.

While the shih tzu is a fairly touch little breed and often long lived, it has a couple of concerns that are worth noting.

Let’s start with eyes because that it my biggest concern with this breed. The picture above shows a one-eyed shih tzu’s remaining ‘normal’ eye. If you look critically, you’ll see that it’s still not actually normal. There appears to be some kind of lesion on the cornea, and the eye is bulging much further out of the socket that it should be.

These bulging eyes (really you shouldn’t be able to see much white at all) are associated with lots of issues, and abnormal eyes are frequently painful. Sometimes, with minimal effort, these eyes will pop out of their eyelids. Sometimes the eyelids can’t completely close over the eyeball, even when asleep. This leads to the eye drying out, especially where the eyelids can’t close properly as the tears aren’t spread over this area, leading corneal ulcers and exposure keratopathy. All because their eyes are a bit too big, their eyelids a bit too loose and not quite enough space in their skull.

They are also prone to anatomical abnormalities of the eyelids, either rolling in or rolling out, and it’s relatively common for this breed to develop extra eyelashes or hair on the inside of their eyelids. Because there’s not enough difficulty with these eyes already.

Shih tzu are also a brachycephalic breed, and I have written at length about what that means for the dog. They are not the most extreme example, but the flatter the face, the harder it is to breath.

The round shape of the skull also predisposes to hydrocephalus, which can push the eyes more forward and laterally.

The combination of brachycephaly and mild hydrocephalus worsens the bulging of the eyeballs, and their associated problems.

Their unusual skull means that many of these dogs are poor chewers, resulting in significant dental disease. The undershot jaw doesn’t help this at all.

Compare this Shih Tzu skull above (Source)

… with this average dog skull (Source)

You can easily see how the eye sockets are shallower, and the dental arrangement is just bizzaire.

They are prone to chondrodysplasia, often with very obvious bending or bowing of the legs, particularly the front legs. This can cause significant elbow pain if the limbs are quite bent, and may require corrective surgery.

Tagging along with the chondrdysplasia, Shih Tzu are another very common patient for the spinal surgeon. While not as ubiquitous as dachshunds they were regulars.

Luxating patellas (knee caps) are also very common, especially in individuals with bowed front legs, and although this can be improved surgically that’s not something I would like to see as ‘standard’ within the breed.

As with many things, the severity of these problems is directly linked to the extremeness of anatomy.

From a metabolic point of view, they are prone to bladder stones for some reason, but not anything particularly obscure. These stones can be prevented with special diets, so it’s possible to manage an affected dog with minimal changes to quality of life.

They also get all the common old dog diseases fairly regularly; Cushing’s, hypothyroidism, renal disease, etc. I don’t think this is an inherant problem with the breed, more a reflection that these dogs are achieving old age on a regular basis. That’s, broadly speaking, a good thing.

So the breed has their faults, but you could select individuals that are less extreme to minimize many of these.

The breed also requires regular maintenance for its coat, whether that means frequent grooming or being clipped short. It would surprise you to know how many people don’t know this.

On the whole they are dear little dogs but do show up frequently in shelters. This is usually because they are favored companions for the elderly, and elderly people will sometimes find themselves… well…deceased. There isn’t always a plan in place for their pets, especially if their little shih tzu was their only companion.

My shiny salazzle is lonely, but regular salandit avoid her due to her coloration. I've been searching for a shiny salandit for three days, but I haven't found one yet. Are there any other good lizard pokemon to put in her harem? I could probably get a treecko from my aunt - she works with Professor Birch. I live nearby Wela Volcano, I hatch eggs for various breeders. Don't know if that has an impact on what pokemon I should get? Plume is incredibly important to me and I want her to be happy.

One of the many good things about Salazzle is their adaptability. While this can occasionally lead to problems, it also means Plume will be very open-minded. Anything male and vaguely reptilian will satisfy her, so look at Treecko, Charmander, Totodile, or Axew if you want something exotic, or Cubone, Turtonator, Bagon, or Sandile if you want something local. I’ve also heard of Salazzle adopting mammals, but that seems to be a bit more sporadic.

Hi! I've been meaning to get into researching vampires/witches/werewolves for a while now but never know where to start. Or just generally want to get back into reading good fiction based on those things. I was wondering if you had any specific recommendations of where I could start? Ty! <3

Some folklore/folk history and general background of werewolves and vampires I recommend this book, this one and this one. Those are great reference books to jut have on hand since they’re encyclopedias and can direct you to some big, culturally relevant and interesting books/movies/tv shows on vampires and werewolves. For witches that’s way more complicated, because the angles to get into fictional are different than real deal stuff, and that’s so varied I can’t even tell you where to start.

Favorite go-to vampire fiction: The Vampire Chronicles (duh), the Delicate Dependency, Dracula, The Historian, The Coldest Girl in Coldtown.

Favorite werewolf fiction: uhhhhhhhh… Blood and Chocolate, Raised by Wolves, the Wolf Gift (I’m not that big on wolves so I don’t know a ton, and 2/3 of that is YA stuff I haven’t looked at in ages)

Favorite witch fiction: Whispering to Witches (kind of a kid book), A Discovery of Witches (definitely not for kids and admittedly only could get through the first of the trilogy), Discworld (I’ve only read snippets but must read more), The Mayfair Witches series. I’ve seen the films but not read the books of Witches of Eastwick and Practical Magic. (I don’t read up too much on witchy fiction because I often get tired and/or frustrated).

Hello! I like your blog ^_^ I just had a couple of questions about being on the asexual spectrum. I am a Christian so does that mean I can't be on the ace spectrum? My mom says I'm not "old enough" to know if I will like sex in the future or not but i mean even Christians can see themselves getting married and having kids one day. I just don't and I don't really think I have even had any attraction (other than romantic or friendly) to a person I've met. I've been confused about this for a while

I’m agnostic, so I’m not too educated on the subject of how asexuality interacts with the Bible.

About the age thing: there isn’t any age to be “old enough” to start questioning your sexuality. being a pubescent teenager is all about trying new things & finding yourself. and, it’s no big deal if in a few years you find out you’re another sexuality– changing labels isn’t something you should be afraid of. just remember though, that there isn’t a rush to find a label for yourself. you can be happy just being you, without one.

As long as you don’t feel sexual attraction, you’re ace. that’s all there is to it. aces can have sex and that does not invalidate their identity.

Passion and Assassins, a double feature of two Sondheim musicals that have never been performed together before. Performed at The Theatre Company of Bryan/College Station in June, 2017. Here are a few of my favorite pictures of the show.

I played John Hinckley Jr. in Assassins, and one of the soldiers in Passion. In addition, I designed the set, which completely transformed within 10 minutes at intermission every night to form two completely different sets.

So sorta random but every so often I randomly like to check in and see if that amazing Kate painting (the fancy gallery 'metaphor' arrows in her hair one) is still around and available? I've been following you for years and had my eye on it for quite awhile but while I could get the money for payment and maybe even transport at some point soonish I still don't have my own apartment and thus a safe place to put it yet. But I like to dream realistically so checking on availability and gen pricing?

GREETINGS ANONYBRO.  Man, I hope you weren’t holding your breath or anything; I really didn’t mean to be like, suspenseful or anything!!!, but occasionally my brain is a mess and I forget entirely about this whole Tumblr inbox thing, aha.  Anyway.  The funny thing is, I have done Kate with arrows twice and I don’t know which you mean.

This one?

Or this one?

I feel I just need to add,

Bad news is, both of those are sold; but the good news is, Monet painted the Rouen cathedral thirty times because he was so in love with how it looked in shifting light, and along those lines I am nowhere near done with Kate-with-Arrows.  I have been thinking of doing another and you’re welcome to give me a concrete excuse, if you like. Both were 24″ x 24″ and sold for $575 + shipping (whatever the actual price is.) I’m in the US.  Just for realistic reference, I shipped one to Canada recently that was a little bigger than 24″ x 24″ and it was $68.  Shipping is realistically freaking expensive, like, I kinda wanted to buy the painting a Megabus ticket and personally deliver it with a hug, it would have been more fun. :D

So, if you have any more questions, feel free!  Just in general, you’re welcome to send me one of those flashy sorts of messages if you prefer a private chat - I can respond to those even from dumbass tumblr mobile.

Also in general, thank you (and also you and you and you) for giving my art love over the years.  It keeps me going when life gets crappy and frustrating. <3
