Everything was perfect. My mom was the best. But then I learned the truth and my whole life changed. My name is not my name. My home is not my home. My life is not my life. My mom is not my mom. She’s…my kidnapper.
HEY YOU. YEAH YOU. ARE YOU TAKING PART IN CAMP NANOWRIMO THIS JULY?
If you answered yes, then let’s high five!
If you answered no, love writing, and have time–then come on and join the party!
For those of you who are unaware of what the term even means (lol do I have to go to camp??? What the hell is a nanowrimo???) I’m gonna break it down for you real quick. Every November, there’s this little fantastic thing calledNational Novel Writing Month (abbreviated to NaNoWriMo). The goal is to write a manuscript of 50k+ words within the span of a month. It’s a challenge and seems intimidating as hell, but well worth it in my opinion! It’s a great way to have fun, work on developing plot/characters/etc., and it’s just an overall great experience! And the best part is, if you aren’t the kind of writer who’s into writing novels, you can do something different! I’ve heard of people substituting a novel with fanfics, one shots, prose, poetry, etc. etc. Just so long as it fits the word count!
Camp NaNoWriMo is essentially the same thing with a few alterations. The first and perhaps biggest change is that, instead of having to meet a 50k word deadline by the end of the month, you can set your own challenge. Are you taking summer classes and don’t think you have the time? Is your family coming into town that month? Are you busy with work or visiting friends? Then just lower the word count to what you think you can handle! Secondly, Camp NaNoWriMo allows you to edit what’s known as your “cabin settings”; this will be my first year participating in Camp NaNoWriMo, but from what I’ve been informed, you have the option to be placed into a small group of other NaNoWriMoers and you will all virtually “bunk” together (aka you’ll be allowed to chat with one another, spring storyboard ideas off each other, give one another motivation, make friendships, yadda yadda). There are a few other changes, I’m sure, but all of the necessary information can be easily accessed on their website!
SO WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR? GO WRITE SOMETHING, IT’S LOTS OF FUN.
