Who is the Last Young Renegade?

After all this time writing music, playing in a band- checking moment after moment off the bucket list- collecting mistakes, making memories, I wondered what it might be like to write about myself if I wasn’t the one standing in my shoes. Who am I from the other side of the mirror?

I tried to change perspective in my approach to writing and center in on all of the different versions of me that other people might have met over the years, through the ups and the downs, in the public eye and behind closed doors. Would I like this person? Do I like this person? Do I even recognize this person anymore?

I realized that there’s a lot more to me than I’m usually ready to acknowledge, both good and bad. In that realization, I noticed a common thread. We are who we are, even when we try our hardest not to be.

It’s a challenge to accept it sometimes. I gave those other sides of me a persona, and a name– then came the stories like a flood. It was a way for me to confront demons without having to sit at the dinner table with them.

That’s the journey on this record: a story of self-realization. Of growing into your own skin through the eyes of someone watching it all unfold on the big screen, wearing a ‘Frankie Says Relax’ t-shirt. Like watching an old familiar movie, but suddenly you’re Marty McFly.

We tried a lot of new things on this album, all within the context of what we love so much about All Time Low– There’s no denying that we were binge watching Stranger Things at the time, while also reflecting on the loss of some of our favorite musicians; Prince, Bowie, George Michael… I think the influence comes through in the best ways. We all felt pulled to exciting and different places as we searched for inspiration, approaching something that’s become so familiar to us from a new direction.

I truly hope everyone listening enjoys this record as much as I do. It’s been an amazing journey. The album comes out June 2nd and will be available for pre-order on Friday, Feb 24th. We’ll also be posting some pre-order merch bundles, so stay tuned! Pre-order options will be up on alltimelow.com.

Imagine a renegade Shepard developing feelings for their LI. Imagine that they are terrified of their feelings and try to suppress them bc they just have this gut feeling that it’ll never happen. They are a ruthless monster covered in glowing, gnarly, crimson scars, how could anyone love them? How could their LI love them? Also, love is weakness that their enemies could exploit and Shep knows that by heart. “Love is useless and I’m too horrible to deserve it.”

Now, imagine Shep coming to terms with their feelings. They may not get together with their LI soon, hell, maybe not at all, but they now have something (or, in this case, someone) to fight for like they probably never have before. Shep attempts to protect them in fights and their stoic, hard expression softens a bit when they are near their LI.

Finally, picture renegade Shep hearing from their LI that they actually like them the same way. Shepard’s heart pounds and they are completely stunned. Thousands of questions go through their head, but never come out of their mouth. They accept and confess that they love their LI back with confidence.

Throughout their entire life they never had a choice but to be pictured and designated as ruthless and a monster, but for the first time, they found someone who views them as more than that. They don’t view Shepard as the butcher of Torfan, the first human spectre, the savior of the Citadel, or the conqueror of the Collectors. They view Shepard as what they truly are: a living being that is flawed in many ways, like everyone else in the galaxy.

I’m perfectly fine with a band changing their sound. But it seems all they want to do is go straight pop and forget the original punk roots they started from

ATL is doing a ok job with this poppy-punk blend but is REEEEALLY starting to sound mainstream, Tonight Alive is moving back to less angsty punk with world away (though I did love limitless just because of the message) but as for Paramore I’m not feeling their new pop stuff as much

*bursts through door* did somebody say Arkos?

domestic Arkos though.

-each one is good at the chores the other is useless at.

-Pyrrha can’t cook to save her life, but will always leave a clean sink. Jaune is a fine cook but always leaves dishes soaking and forget them, clog the sink or forget to rinse stuff properly.

-Similarly, Jaune is unfazed by unclogging drains or taking out trash (his sisters used to fix the chore wheel to give him the worst jobs) but screams if he sees a spider run across the floor. Pyrrha would prefer not do to the gross chores, but will uncomplainingly grab a cup to rescue him from the eight-legged horror.

-Pyrrha using her polarity to sort recycling.

-Pyrrha singing as she cleans, which Jaune thinks is the cutest thing.

-Jaune once got caught dancing as he vacuumed. There are photos. Pyrrha’s got them under lock and key should she ever need the favour of his sisters.

-For one reason or another, their schedules clash for a while, with Jaune having to get up only a few hours after Pyrrha comes home and goes to bed.

-Pyrrha’s evening routine includes making sure Jaune’s next-day outfit is ready, setting out the breakfast stuff (not forgetting Pumpkin Pete’s, of course), and leaving him an encouraging note to start his day right.

-Jaune returns the favour and makes sure Pyrrha wakes up with fresh coffee ready to brew, her armour cleaned, and a lunchbag packed and ready with a love note from him hidden inside.

-Pyrrha leaves Jaune a vitamin every morning, after much resistance. He takes it, because he wants to be on form for her, and knows it’s a part of her caring.

-Jaune slips candy into Pyrrha’s lunchbox way too often. But she knows he’ll make sure their meals are balanced, and it’s thoughtful and makes her smile even when she hasn’t had chance to see him awake; so she enjoys it.

-If they know their schedules are set to align soon, the love notes get… a little more risqué.

very likely that i need to sell my ticket for all time low this upcoming july! hmu if you’re interested in the show I’m the philly/ central jersey area!

Green Lanterns of Earth + Name Meanings

anonymous asked:

Lottie! Some english lit students at my university have been toying with the idea of forming a Renegade Gay Book Club, so do you have any LGBT+ standalone book recommendations that won't make for overly awkward/sad club meeting discussion?

intuiting your ‘overly awkward/sad’ to mean no one does anything to warrant an E on AO3 and I didn’t sob my heart out in bed, HERE IS WHAT I HAVE FOR YOU:

  • Grasshopper Jungle by Andrew Smith
  • The Watchmaker of Filigree Street by Natasha Pulley
  • Dryland by Sara Jaffe
  • The Great American Whatever by Tim Federle
  • Wonders of the Invisible World by Christopher Barzak
  • Teeth by Hannah Moskowitz
  • When Everything Feels Like the Movies by Raziel Reid
  • The Rest of Us Just Live Here by Patrick Ness
  • Fans of the Impossible Life by Kate Scelsa
  • Carry On by Rainbow Rowell
  • Simon vs. the Homo-Sapiens Agenda by Becky Albertalli
  • A Hero at the End of the World by Erin Claiborne
  • The Darkest Part of the Forest by Holly Black
  • I’ll Give You the Sun by Jandy Nelson
  • Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe by Benjamin Alire Sáenz

it’s a short list but in my defence I’m a) a sucker for a trilogy and b) a masochist
