tell us about your hoh taako headcanon!!!!!!

I mean if u insist lmao

  • taako got really sick when he was a kid and as an impoverished homeless orphan he proooobably didn’t get as much healthcare as he should have, and his hearing was pretty much shot afterwards
  • he mostly has a hard time distinguishing between sounds especially in a busy environment
  • a lot of his kind of aloof ‘i don’t give a shit’ temperament stems from him just not knowing what the fuck is going on so he kind of makes that part of his image?
  • lup is really good and supportive though
  • they develop the most scrumbled together pidgin sign language from like a few signs they made up themselves, plus little bits of elven sign language and like different dialects from a bunch of different deaf adventurers they’ve met over the like 50 years of living on the road
  • which ends up being super useful during the stolen century because it’s way easier to develop a visual language than to try to develop or learn a spoken one when the other party doesn’t have the same vocal cord arrangement. this is definitely how they figure out the animal language in the first year
  • the rest of the ipre gradually catches on. barry’s first bc he hangs out with them a lot in the first year and realises they’re gossiping and he wants in on it so he kind of tries to figure it out himself.
    • (he really only figures out what his name is and then calls them out when they start talking about him)
    • (his name is just jeans)
  • and post voidfish taako is pleasantly surprised when his new boss and colleagues know the very specific sign language he pretty much made up himself. surprised and also weirded out
    • so does this red robe dude? i mean much apprec’d on the interpretation but also what the fuck?????
  • I’m sure there are useful spells to improve hearing that he’d either use or straight up invent himself (and i believe transmutation would be the school they’d be in, too)
    • “hello sir I want to tell you about my day” “oh yeah sounds great ango lemme just *turns off fantasy hearing aids* okay yeah go for it”

From what I understand, correct me if I'm wrong, you mostly taught yourself Korean. Do you have any study tips or just miscellaneous tips for those of use wanting to learn Korean or any other language?

Omg. So you’re self-taught in Korean, Kylie? That’s awesome!! How did u do it? Give us tips please! I’ve already learned to read hangul but how/where can I learn/improve vocab and grammar?

Do you have any tips for someone who’s trying to learn Korean?

hi!! how did you pick up korean, and how long did it take you? thank you :)

Do you have any tips for learning Korean? I really want to start but I am not sure of the best method.

Is there any material you would be able to recommend for an English speaker self teaching themselves Korean? If so, thank you!

Okay, so I’m gonna write a lot write now so be prepared. I’ll break it up into sections.

How I learned Korean (to the level I am at right now):

I started learning Korean naturally during 8th grade (2010) or so. I had a really close friend who would teach me Korean words and by this time I was into a few K-pop groups (mainly SHINee) and watched a few Korean dramas. Out of interest in learning new language, I decided to teach myself how to read and write in Korean. Once I hit the summer before my freshman year, I met another really close friend who introduced me to more and more groups and showed me Korean shows. This is probably when I got really into Korean music, culture, etc. I began finding more shows by myself, became more active in fandoms through Twitter, Tumblr, etc. Before I knew it, watching these variety shows, dramas, videos, and reading lyrics allowed me to pick up the language. I never had a formal education as my school (high school and university) did not/do not provide the language. However because of this, most of the Korean I know is conversational and I am most confident in understanding (instead of writing, speaking). Although I translate, I am by no means fluent in the language, although I soon hope to be!

Tips on learning Korean (or any language):

1. Start off by learning hangul or the Korean writing system (or “alphabet”). You can do this by looking up a table of the characters online.

2. Begin practicing by reading lyrics, tweets by BTS, whatever you can get your hands on. You don’t have to know what you are saying, but it is important to practice and solidify your knowledge of hangul.

3. Figure out your learning style. If you are an auditory learner, try watching videos in Korean like variety shows and dramas (not historical). Read the subtitles carefully and be aware of the words you are hearing as you are reading. I feel like many people unintentionally tune out the audio of a video when watching videos in Korean. If you stay aware, it will be much easier to pick up the language. This is how I picked up Korean. Other ways to learn are through more traditional methods like textbooks and workbooks. If you don’t want physical textbooks there are many apps and online sites that provide PDFs and even podcasts. I don’t use online sites, but I have heard a lot about Talk To Me In Korean.

4. Stay motivated. I know it is really difficult, especially if English is your only language, but you really have to want to learn the language. If you have no interest or motivation, I’m sad to say this, but you won’t be able to learn the language since there is no teacher to force you to learn as there would be in a classroom setting.

5. Practice/study regularly. I think all people who have learned a language in high school can say this with confidence. If you don’t practice/study the language regularly, all of what you have learned will just fade from your memory.

Material for learning Korean:

I always refer to this guide, but Tumblr user hobuing made a post as to how she learned Korean and it has a few links to sites and PDFs [here].

What do I do when I don’t know a word in Korean:

Naturally as I am not fluent, I don’t know all the words that I read. When this happens DO NOT USE GOOGLE TRANSLATE. Google Translate is absolutely horrible when translating (at least for Asian languages). I look up words on endic.naver.com (to find the direct English meaning) or dic.naver.com (to find the Korean definition of a word). As slang isn’t present in a typical dictionary, for slang that I don’t know I often google “____ 뜻" (____ meaning) and read what Korean people say the slang means.

Concept: Mickey and Emil have been friends basically since they both began skating. They’re really close, and when I say close I mean HELLA. Sleepovers, friendship bracelet exchange when they were 12 (Emil still wears his outside of skating, and while Mickey will never admit it he still keeps his in his wallet of all places), the whole deal. Sara is also part of their friend group, but she’s definitely not as close to Emil as Mickey is.

And then puberty hits and Mickey suddenly becomes very aware of Emil and his closeness to Sara. In reality, nothing’s really changed, but he’s begun to get a weird tight feeling in his chest whenever he sees Emil smiling and laughing with Sara. He begins to be a lot more protective over Sara because that’s what it’s gotta be, right? Sara is getting prettier each year, and as her big brother he has a responsibility to keep men from taking advantage of her. Even if it’s Emil, who he’s known for years. Anyways, there’s nothing else this feeling can be, right? Right. Nothing more than protectiveness.

You tell your sister, “I have to go. I’ll call you back later.” And you hang up the phone before even giving her a chance to say goodbye as you slide out of your bunk. You’re currently on tour with Shawn because he had asked you to come along, but you miss your family just like he misses his when he’s gone. Whenever Shawn’s busy working, you often take that time to call or FaceTime your family or friends back home. Shawn is currently doing his meet and greet, so you had decided to stay on the bus to talk to your sister over the phone.

As soon as your toes touch the ground, Andrew appears at the end of the hall. “Y/n, there you are!” He practically screams, which slightly startles you because you’re not very far from him, so you don’t really understand why he’s shouting so loudly. “Come with me,” He says, turning around and practically running out of the bus. You’re confused, but decide to not ask any questions as you rush after him.

“Shawn’s freaking out. I think everything’s just been too much lately.” Andrew tells you, while practically jogging into the venue.

How do you deal with self-doubt when studying? Like whenever I study and feel good after I always just think of how I'll probably fail anyway and that there was no point in studying that hard. I always just super nervous that I'm studying for nothing

Hi there. I get what you mean. Sometimes when things are overwhelming it is easier to think “why am I bothering?”. It is so important to remember that although studying can be boring, difficult, and overwhelming at times, it is for the best. You’re never “studying for nothing” so it is crucial for you to realise that every little bit you’re doing is helping - even if you don’t see it right away. Here are a couple of things that might help ease your mind:

  • stop making excuses and start doing - you’re probably in a cycle of wanting to do better but when it comes to actually trying, you’re either just lost or don’t feel like you can. Find small ways to be more productive - whether that be tidying up your desk, organising what you need to do, putting your work in order. If you get into a routine during each study session, you’ll find it a lot easier to stay motivated.
  • identify your doubts and learn to ease them - you’re going to be thinking “I can’t do this”, “I’m going to fail”, or “this is too hard” and that is totally understandable. Instead. you should think “I can’t do it yet but there is nothing stopping me from trying”, “if I fail, I’ll figure out why and try again”, or “I’m motivated to figure out this tricky thing”. If you can change your doubts around into positive opportunities to learn, you’ll be in a better mindset for studying.
  • make an inspiring and positive work environment - if you’re sitting at a desk that doesn’t inspire you to work then you might find getting that extra motivation tricky. On your desk, you should have out things that will help you study like pens, post-it notes, motivational quotes, etc! If you wanted to you could check out my ‘motivational monday’ printables. They’re free to download and you can stick them up on your wall to help you stay positive about your studeies!
  • remember your previous successes - I’m sure you’ve had many awesome achievements in your life and they’re so important to remember. It’s so easy to forget those cool things you’d managed to do but think of how you felt when you were successful! Whilst you may still pass without studying, how great would it be to pass with flying colours because you revised!
  • remove the idea of “failure” from your mind - the likelihood is, if you’ve studied, you aren’t going to fail. You may perhaps get a lower mark than expected if you’ve not studied effectively but if you’ve done everything you should be, it is unlikely that you’ll fail because you were ill-prepared. Try to remain positive about your chance to prove yourself wrong. You can do it.

There is always a point in studying - even if it is for algebra… You shouldn’t allow yourself to feel bad for studying. Honestly, when it gets to need the information you’ve studied and you’re answering questions and remembering the information, you’ll probably realise there was no need to doubt yourself. I hope this helps xx

Hi Red! I hope you don't mind me asking... you're exactly what I aspire to be in terms of art skills, I can only dream of one day being as good as you. But I don't know where to start and sometimes I feel a little lost and don't know how to improve at all. I thought I'll ask you for a bit of help? for example what drawing apps you use or if you have any quick tips? sorry I'm sure you get this all the time but it would be helpful. Thank you!

Hello nonnie! Thank you so much for the wonderful compliments, first of all. I’d be happy to help if I can.

So… for my art the applications I use the most are the following:

Photoshop: This is a given. Most artists who do art professionally tend to prefer PS over any other program for the simple reason that it’s a really amazing tool. The brush sets available for it are great and unlike other applications, it doesn’t crash or struggle when you push it (say working on really big canvas dimensions and whatnot). Learning how to master PS fully is, however, quite hard and time consuming. But worth it. I use PS for all my more complex pieces, for paintings and pretty much anything that’s not simple, quick art.

Paint Tool Sai: Now, Sai is as accessible and easy to use as it is lackluster in certain departments. You’ll find a lot of beginner artists using Sai because of how easy to master it is, and it gives you good results. If you struggle a little to learn how to use complex applications, this might just be your best friend. I use it occasionally for sketching or any simple, quick work (like the doodles I do for this blog).

PureRef: This is an application I’ve never seen anyone talk about around here and I often wonder why. I get most of my income from commissions, and this application is so useful I just can’t go without it. But the concept is simple. Essentially, it allows you to create a collage of references and this window will always stay open on top of any other windows while still allowing you to operate on the windows below. For example; you can have PS open and you can be working on your art while PureRef stays on top (wherever on your screen you might want it to be) and that way you can look at your references while working on your art comfortably. Simple but neat.

Now those three are the ones I use the most, but I also occasionally use these:

Krita: This one is great because of the unique way in which layers work in it, the brushes look great and it, for me, functions like a professional application. It is essentially a Photoshop replica for free. But fair warning, it crashes and lags at times.

Paintstorm Studio: Another one I never see doing the rounds anywhere on social media. This is a wonderful application and I dare say superior to Photoshop on the brush department. I’m only learning how to use it now, but so far I’m quite impressed with it.

As for tips, I don’t know… because what helps and doesn’t often varies depending on the particular artist. Not everyone learns the same way. I’d recommend watching a lot of art related videos; tutorials, speedpaints, even just people talking about art programs and tools often helps. There’s a really good website called Skillshare where professional artists make videos to show you in detail how they work and how they produce their art. I’d definitely recommend it. Also just check out art in general, all the time, all kinds of art, different styles. Pay attention to the details that make certain art styles unique and appealing. If you’re self taught like me, trying to figure out how someone produced a certain piece of art, what technique they used, is often the way to learn.

And last but not least the thing everyone’s sick of hearing but is the ultimate truth so I’m sorry, here it goes: Practice. Draw your heart out. My right wrist sounds like an old creaking door while my left wrist rolls smoothly, there’s a reason for it. (DISCLAIMER DON’T HURT YOURSELF WHILE MAKING YOUR ART OMFG. Get yourself a table of wrist exercises and stretch often.) I draw all the time and I draw every day. Every. Single. Day. I don’t usually take off days, for me an off day means I’m drawing for an hour or two instead of six or nine hours. Practice truly does make perfect, and try to balance the things you’re good at with those you’re not. Practice more the stuff that you’re worst at if you want a balanced skill set. Don’t be scared of trying new things and going out of your comfort zone, otherwise you might get stuck on doing the same thing over and over and will never learn new stuff. There’s nothing to be afraid of, worst case scenario some of your art will suck for a bit but keep at it, and you can be good at just about anything.

And don’t half ass things. Try to put passion in everything you do. This is harder than it sounds. There might be things you don’t really feel like doing at a certain point in time but even those deserve your full attention. Give it your all and your art will always have that something special! Commit to it, and you’ll achieve anything you want, trust me.

I hope this was of help in some way? I wish you luck out there doing your art :)

See you around~

He once told Damian that over the years he had become more similar to Dick than he ever was to Talia, or even Bruce himself. He remembers the stunned look he got back, and the twitch of Damian’s mouth when he failed to produce an answer to something he didn’t know how to take, if as a compliment or an accusation. In the end Damian had just clicked his tongue at him, but there had been surprise in his son’s eyes, Bruce remembers. And pride. So much pride.

Bruce had meant it in a good way then. But he knew, like Damian knew, like Dick knew, that there was also a bad side to it. The temper. The anger. The inevitability of the fights that they’ll have to face only because they were who they were, and too stubborn to ever back down. It was never that complicated with Tim or Jason.

He’s reminded of it now, with Damian standing a few feet from him, red faced and body as tight as a violin string, the echo of their raised voice still rumbling through the cave, disturbing the bats colony over their heads. At seventeen, Damian’s resemblance to Bruce is stronger than ever, and yet all Bruce sees right now, in front of him, is Dick. Dick, a long, long time ago. Dick, angry at nothing and everything at the same time. Dick, getting more and more frustrated with the role of Batman’s son. Dick, suddenly so ready to walk out on him.

Bruce doesn’t remember the exact moment he realized that the same thing was going to happen with Damian too, but he knows he’s been waiting for a while now. Resigned himself to the idea of it happening. But, by god, it’s not going to be tonight. It’s not going to be because of this.

or: Four Times Moana and Maui Surprised the Crowd, and One Time They Did Not

My first shot at a 4-and-1 type gig! I tried to keep these short, but you know my writing, that didn’t end up happening. I think this is like seven thousand words total. Look, my hand just slipped for four hours straight.

Happy, happy birthday to my dear friend @paperjam-bipper! You’re so old now, you shmuck. Congratulations. Hope you enjoy the gratuitous amounts of fluff I stuck in here, just for you. :)

Fandom: Moana
Words: 7,400
Category: Gen
Relationship: Moana & Maui

Summary: Four times Moana and Maui surprised the crowd, and one time they did not.

It’s when the first wave breaks on the deck of their ship that Aronui decides, quite firmly, that she does not like storms.

Even shielded as she is from the worst of the rain by her mother’s sturdy legs and swollen belly, there pellets of water sting against her eyelids, and Aronui has to squint to see the deck of the boat mere feet in front of her. Her hairband was lost long ago to the frenzy of the wind, which whips her hair around her face. When Aronui spares a hand to try and tame it, she ends up nearly ripping off the right half of her head.

“Hard about to port!” shouts a familiar voice, commanding against the fury of the storm.

Aronui looks over to see Moana astride the canoe. Despite the writhing waves that tower around her Moana looks at ease, balanced perfectly atop the edge of her canoe while wrestling with the halyard in both hands. She’s planted at one end of her tiny craft, which sways dangerously in the water, and is somehow using the boat’s instability to clamber up the side and look intently at Kara.

Hello Julia! Your blog is such a great resource and you seem like a super nice person. I just finished my bachelor's degree and start on a master's in biology this fall. I'm very nervous and know I have a lot to learn about how grad school works, in addition to what I'll actually learn in classes. What's your advice for making the transition from undergrad to grad school as smooth as possible?

Hello! welcome! and congratulations on starting your masters!

So i think that master and PhD programs can vary a little bit, and though i do know a bit about master programs from friends and classmates, my experience is wholly in PhD programs, so some of my advice may not apply.

But it’s always a good idea to do these things the summer before you start:

  • Understand the requirements. This can pertain to lab rotations (if applicable), finding a thesis lab, when and how to sign up for a student ID and register for classes, orientation dates, other major deadlines/program requirements, etc. Review and remember. You will most likely have an orientation though, where they go over the necessary things like registering for classes. Feel free to ask any and all questions, and jot down contact information in case things happen.
  • And speaking of lab rotations if applicable, contact labs of interest right now. You may even be able to start rotations a few weeks earlier to give yourself more time to figure out if that lab’s right for you. Also, summer’s usually the best time to get trained, as current lab members tend to have more time then.
  • Get back into the swing of academia. This may be easier for you as you just finished college, but it’s nice to get back to the routine of reading textbooks/papers. A good way to start is by reading the papers of labs you’re interested in.
  • Figure out all the nitty gritty stuff of your program/position, such as health insurance, anything related to money (either stipends or fellowships or tuition), parking and/or transportation passes, etc etc.
  • Get to know your classmates. I don’t know how tight-knit cohorts are in Masters programs, but when I started my PhD, an email thread was sent to all of us over the summer to let us introduce each other. Then someone created a Google group (or whatever it’s called; do those even exist anymore) so we could all learn about each other/find roommates/etc. It was definitely nice and took away a lot of that “first day of school” anxiety of not knowing anyone.
  • Have your supplies ready. And by supplies I mean things like making sure your laptop/computer/tablet is ready to go (like if you need something fixed/upgraded, now is probably the best time to do it), a good data back-up system (be it an external hard-drive or cloud). Things like that.
  • Aaaand take the time now to relax! A lot of people will agree that one of the most relaxing times ever is that summer before you start a new academic program. You don’t have the stress of homework/studying/projects yet, but you have the assurance that your next step is covered. So take a breather and make sure you’re recharged and ready to go!

Azriel glided through the gaping open window of his town house kitchen, landing swiftly on his tired feet.

Something was wrong.

Resting the sac of seeds he bought for Elain against the sugar jar, he made his way past the oven and into the hall.

He’d been flying high in the cloudless sky when he spotted a fresh market on his way home from the most brutal fight he’s had in centuries.

But he couldn’t think about that right now.

Making his way down the wooden hallway and into the living room he found her.

Lying face down on the couch weeping.

warnings: psychotic like mad hatter, cocky Jinyoung, mentions of killing, strong language, murder, still mafia related, mild smut (pg-14, get a grip, he’s young), you’re emotionless.

You watched the young male walk towards his seat beside you; he didn’t scare you to say the least, rather he fascinated you. Both of you were really silent, predicting every move the other made.

You stayed in the same position for more than half an hour waiting for the professor to dismiss the class, so you could escape Jinyoung’s stare. You hung your head back when the teacher slammed the textbook down the table then dismissed the class.

You rushed out the class, finally getting fresh air until he whispered into your ear, “You look extremely nervous.”

You turned your head to him, just a few inches away from his lips, but you spoke instead, “Don’t try me.”

The hallway was empty by that time of day, and you half expected Jinyoung to walk the same direction you did; however, when you turned back to see if he was delaying his steps–you didn’t see him at all. You retreated back trying to find him, you pulled on every door to inspect.

Lastly, you stood in front of the gym door; it was locked. There were sounds coming from the gym, this time you didn’t hesitate. You scanned for another entrance, but there was none. You pulled out two pins from your hair, pulling the curved metal away from the flat one before taking out the round nub of the pin. Bending the tip of the pin ninety degrees left, you then bent the curved surface resembling it into a handle. You stepped on the other pin, then curving it ninety degrees before inserting it inside the lock.

Your movements halted when you heard someone’s scream from the inside–the cries for help. Proceeding with caution, you put in the second pin moving the pins of the lock upward, the door opened automatically letting you sneak inside. Your eyes caught a glimpse of the scene inside, Jinyoung pointed his gun on a man then his eyes darted to yours.

“Shoot and the alarm goes off.” You threatened as your gaze held him in place. Jinyoung showed you a cocky grin aiming the gun on top of the man’s head, “You’re also part of this, just so you know.”

You smirked, “Be careful with what you wish for, there are things you should be afraid of. Especially since you still feel pain, fear and sympathy.”

Hey, I have zero experience in drawing or any kind of manual art like that. But I've decided I want to try and learn even just the basics, but the resources online are sketchy and I have no knowledge to be able to decipher what's good and what's not. I really love your art, I know you probably get this a lot but where do you think I should start?

ALRIGHT alright alright I’m going to make this some sort of ”beginner artist” masterpost and include as many resources as I possibly can. I am going to assume you want to focus on the ”drawing” aspects of art since it can take many forms. Here are some pointers and resources I consider vital when learning how to draw, things I’ve learned from multiple art oriented courses. This is going to be a very quick and general thing and I’ll make some serious and properly drawn tutorials in the future (the drawings in this one are going to be embarrassing, try to only take the general idea from them) but to start off:

  • Before you jump into drawing in any particular style, learn your realism.

This is probably mistake #1 in many young art enthusiasts: they go straight into wanting to draw either anime, or a particular cartoon’s style because a stylized form of art is much more appealing to them than realistic things. Which is valid, but I’ll have you know in order to get any of those styles right, you have to learn the basics AND ONLY THEN proceed to use that knowledge to ”deform” said realism into any style you want. Be it learning from life drawing and observing, pictures online of real people or animals. When you look at a big household name in the artist world’s work, as flashy as their stuff might be, a trained eye is able to tell immediately if the person has proper anatomical knowledge or not, no matter how much they try to mask it with ”this is just my style.” Let me show you an example:

(excuse the 5 minute sketches pls, note these are actually highly inaccurate (the knees should be placed lower on the second drawing and calves shouldn’t be as big as the thighs) but I wanted to demonstrate ”realistic proportions” in contrast to more of a stylized drawing in a really quick way, a google search for “human anatomy” will bring up much more accurate visual representations of all this so I highly recommend doing that)

But basically in order to play around with anatomy you first need to learn realistic proportions (you don’t need to absolutely master them or anything, but you need to know things like the distance between the forehead, eyes + nose and chin correlate, places where fat stores in comparison to where muscle stores, the size of the forearm until in reaches the wrist/arm are practically the same, arms + hands reach below the hipbone and halfway to the the upper thigh) and only then proceed to bend those rules to create your own stylized version of things, which means you get to play around with a lot of shapes like so:

For the love of all that is holy make use of guidelines, whether with a light colored blue or red pencil if you’re drawing by hand or a sketch layer in Photoshop/SAI etc. They will help out so much when it comes to knowing where you should place each feature. Many people attempt to draw directly without them and while after a lot of practice it might work, to start off you really need to understand basic figure building.

(I’m literally drawing all these one drawing a minute excuse the shittiness I’m just trying to get the point across ahah gOD THESE ARE PISSPOOR)

  • Carry a little sketchbook with you if you can and draw strangers while riding the train, bus, etc. Just draw whatever you see.

It’s not only entertaining when you might be bored out of your mind but extremely productive to draw people, animals, scenery, anything you can see that you might want to sketch out for practice, you can. No better way to learn than real life.

  • Take time to draw. And draw. And draw.

You will not learn or improve overnight, bettering yourself when it comes to art is an endless and ongoing lifelong process. But it won’t be due to osmosis, you gotta sit your ass down and draw as frequently as you can afford to (although excesses can be bad for you, learn to also take breaks and find comfortable positions because drawing CAN REALLY MESS UP YOUR BACK like badly and you don’t wanna end up hunched over because of it or with tendonitis) But believe me: practice makes perfect and if you learn to observe and understand why you’re drawing what you’re drawing, why are you placing that line where you’re placing it and start thinking in 3D, you will surely improve.

Now for the part you truly want to look out for -

Last but not least, some artists that inspire me beyond words and that might also inspire you.

I hope this helps!

Can you give us a hint on what your next theme for Inktober will be. Because your inktobers are INCREDIBLEEE

Thank you!! Posting this public ‘cause I wanna hear what you guys think~

I’ve actually had a couple ideas I’ve been tossing around. A lot of people want me to do DCtober, but my DC knowledge is pretty limited so I’m not sure. Hamilton, Star Wars, Marveltober Round 2 were also on the list. I also kinda want to do one that’s just Netflix themed, so I could do multiple shows like Voltron, Stranger Things, Marvel Defenders, maybe Trollhunters. And actually TAZtober has been growing on me…I’ve been bingeing The Adventure Zone and I LOVE IT, and designing everyone would be a nice challenge~

I don’t know, there’s still a lot of time til then. Thoughts? :)

I made a post a while ago about the time duplicates of the TMNT 2012 kids turning into Space Pirates(!!!) and I was thinking about that again so here are some headcanons I’ve come up with so far:

  • -the original person to suggest it was Raph in a very sarcastic tone because Donnie had gotten arrested for stealing again, and this is the eleventh time they’ve had to break him out of jail why not just make it official already
  • -and then Mikey in a very not sarcastic manner wouldn’t let the idea go and essentially one by one they all ended up on board with the plan to become Intergalactic Space Pirates
  • -their original timeline selves had already accumulated plenty of enemies and bounties on their collective heads, might as well roll with the roles they’ve been given.
  • -Leo was tempted into it because SPACE ANYTHING is always tempting to him.
  • -also because typically they only steal from ‘bad guys’ and have a sort of Robin Hood thing going on.
  • -except when Donnie/Casey/Mikey/Raph/April absolutely have to have that one thing and laws be damned.
  • -Fugitoid was already a fugitive anyways so he’s just going along with things at this point.
  • -he has six kids now and apparently they all want to be pirates and he won’t disappoint them by saying no.
  • -Donnie is scary good at manipulating shit on the digital Black Market, and has actually held fake auctions for the ownership his siblings when he gets pissed at them. he only ever lets his brothers get a little kidnapped after they’re sold off. just until he’s got the money, alright?
  • -if there’s fire or fighting or a combination of the two anywhere in the area they’ve landed for the day it’s probably the direction Casey and Raph have gone.
  • -April gets a bigger gun than the pea-shooter she’s given by Fugitoid almost immediately, and then proceeds to keep collecting various guns as they go. she’s breaking twelve universal possession laws just by having a quarter of her collection.
  • -Leo isn’t always sure how they get into the situations they do but he’s basically just resigned to shenanigans and being chased by space police at this point.
  • -Mikey has caused more intergalactic incidents than one being should be able to feasibly cause, and has the highest bounty on his head.
  • -his wanted poster is him smiling widely at the camera and giving a peace sign because even though they’re light-years from earth he’s still a weeaboo piece of shit.
  • -Mikey might have the highest bounty but April has the biggest rep for being fucking terrifying and she loves it.
  • -Mikey’s bounty is only higher because of the sheer property damage he causes. April just scares everyone she meets into comas. it’s much less messy.
  • -Casey and Raph have a running tally of who can get into and win more bar fights.
  • -April is currently winning that tally.
  • -there are no legal drinking age laws in space and long story short they all got smashed one night and woke up with matching tattoos on their shoulders.
  • -the nonsense symbol was then assumed to be their flag sign and now they can’t escape being associated with it, even though it was originally just a half-assed drunk scribble courtesy of Mikey and Donnie fighting over a pen.
  • -it looks cool enough though so they’re rolling with it.
  • -Space!Donnie and Earth!Donnie eventually figure out how to contact each other and proceed to become each other’s best friend/worst enemy. they either hate each other’s guts or agree on literally everything together and there’s no in between for those moods.
  • -their conversations typically end with them either storming off and yelling “WHY AM I SUCH AN ASSHOLE?!” or them saying “Why can’t you be more like him?” to their family.
  • -Leo has way too much fun monologue-ing villain speeches at the ship crews they rob, and maybe kind of practices said monologues in the bathroom mirror before using them.
  • -Earth!Leo sometimes asks if they can switch places, and Space!Leo always says no.
  • -the Earth!Kids are maybe really jealous and want in on the Space Pirating shenanigans.
  • -it ends up being where they spend their vacation time.
  • -also everyone is gay in some manner because Space Is Gay and they’re in space so they are all gay and there’s no way around that.

long mckirk fic reqs!!!

all of these stories have either made me smile, cry, shout and laugh (sometimes even all of the above) and deserve all the love and kudos. so thank you to all the authors who wrote these lovely, amazing fics you’re all wonderful <33

bolded fics are some of my all time favorites that i’ve read a dozen times by now.

from the same star by gammadolphin. Rated M - 96k

Okay, so this is a soulmate au series that is just so fucking beautiful. While I normally don’t enjoy soulmate aus where the characters are like oblivious to being each other soulmates or are too scared to act on it, this author does a beautiful job of writing Jim and Bones’ hesitance to admit the truth because when they finally do it’s amazing and worth it and everything that follows is just full of love. The second fic in the series is full of angst and it left me crying for days!!!

Unspoken by d8rkmessngr. Rated M - 11k

If you love hurt!Jim and hurt!Bones and just all around missions gone wrong this fic is for you. The little snapshots that are written to show Jim and Bones’ life aboard the Enterprise and what it all means for their relationship are done so freaking well.

The Worst Things In Life Come Free To Us by Ricechex. Rated E - 14k

Holy shit this fic was a rollercoaster of angst and tears!!! Basically, Jim and Bones were married but got a divorce after five years and Jim just can’t bring himself to accept that is okay. If you want to cry a lot read this fic, I won’t give away the ending but ugh go read this!

ignore the misleading banner this is just me asking for questions

so yesterday I hit 8k and um, to repeat what I said at 4k, how? it’s only been two months from then and how quickly this blog has grown continues to shock and amaze me. I’m so, so grateful for all the love and support I’ve received since joining the phandom. everyone who has sent me an ask, interacted with my posts, and all the lovely friends I’ve made since starting this blog mean the world to me. thank you so much. (shockingly, I am still a sap). 💛

so, since I haven’t done anything since I hit 4k, I figured it was time to celebrate.

voice thing? wtf are you on about?

so inspired by other lovelies in the phandom (especially @nihilist-toothpaste) and per the suggestion of @ferrettmalfoy, I decide to do a podcast-style non-podcast to celebrate. pretty much, you guys send me questions and I’ll answer as many as possible in a recording of my voice and woo the end.

so send me questions ?? please ??

(if this flops it never happened)

questions about what?

anything. honestly. dnp? I can ramble for days. life? cool. mental health? sure. chronic illness? please. politics? go for it. advice? I’m not the best person to ask but if you want then yup. sexuality? sure. (the only reason I’ll avoid a topic is if I can’t get away from my family to record this, in which case I’ll answer them in text on my blog).

thank you again for 8k 💛 I love you all sm 💛

(also, under the cut explanation as to why I chose this)

Imperial Problem Child-verse. "Hey, Mom. This is going to be a weird question, but do you know which doctor Mrs. Lars took Luke to? He's having a... weird reaction to a painkiller. I'll let you know what I can in my next letter. Love, Janek." Tank glanced at Wedge. "You sure he never did this in the Rebellion?" "I think I'd remember Luke claiming to be the ruler of sand while somehow perched on a light fixture." "True. I'm not telling his dad, though." "That's fair. Make the doc do it?"

Tank paced the medbay with a strange expression on his face. The fact that they were in the same general coordinates as Tatooine was probably the only reason he was able to reach his parents’ frequency at all, but even so the connection was of poor quality, and audio only. Luke watched him in a kind of hazy amusement, not really aware of what was going on.

“No, no Mom, it wasn’t vitameatavegamin. That’s not even a real thing. No, it’s not, I swear it’s not.”
He paused, listening for a moment, squinting as though this would make him hear better. “Fixer’s mom told you? Well there’s the problem. Mrs. Loneozner also thinks that pit droids carry disease. Not a reliable source.”

Tank looked over at Wedge apologetically, who had a supremely amused expression on his face even as he gently tugged Luke down from where he was making an industrious attempt to climb up a medical cabinet, muttering about good vantage points for sniping.

“Luke, buddy,” Wedge said gently, “Nobody in their right mind is gonna give you a gun for the next three weeks at least. Don’t worry about sniping.”

“Yeah, but if the guys come in-” Luke muttered, his mind clearly on a track he hadn’t informed his friends of.

“I’ll handle it, okay? But I don’t need to sit on a cabinet to do it. Just trust me and sit down a minute,” Wedge pleaded.

A triumphant sound caused the two to look up to where Tank flashed a thumbs-up. “Thanks Mom, you’re a lifesaver, literally. I’ll talk to you next time I get leave, love you!”

He cut off the comm and shook his head. “I never thought I’d say this, but thank the Force that my dad is a pack-rat. He still had old emergency contact forms for when we all went to agro-school between harvests. The Darklighters, Sunbers, and Lars were all kind of backups for each other. Man, I’d forgotten some of this stuff.”

He patted Luke’s shoulder as he passed him and leaned over the table where the doctor was trying to figure out which medication had caused the reaction. “It’s the provotin cystate,” he supplied. “Luke reacts to it the way you might to coming out of anesthesia post-op. Only for the first twenty minutes or so. Once that runs out, my mother remembered that he mostly experienced stiff joints and a headache until it wears off.”

The doctor scribbled that down in his datapad as if it were a matter of life or death.

Actually, given just who the patient was, it probably was a matter of life or death.

Any specific headcanons for MinamixYuuri and YurixYuuri?

That’s very broad question for two of my OTPs! ^ ^;; A lot of my ideal shipping scenarios for those ships will be included in my Future!verse ABO AU, but just a few VERY general points:

Minami x Yuuri - Minami is always very open, honest, and unashamed about his feelings for Yuuri and showers Yuuri nonstop with admiration and affection. At the same time, he has Yuuri on a pedestal and part of him feels he’d never be worthy of being Yuuri’s partner, so he instead contents himself with showering Yuuri with love and trying to make him as happy as he can from whatever position he can be closest to Yuuri’s side. He’ll always prioritize Yuuri to the point he forgets about himself, which is definitely something Yuuri’ll have to make him work on if they want this relationship to work and be equal. He can be awkward and shy and is inexperienced but also won’t hesitate to go for it if he sense an opportunity. He’ll also never forgive anyone for hurting Yuuri and can go from “Yuuri’s cute pomeranian,” to “Yuuri’s rabid guard dog” in an instant if need be.

Yurio x Yuuri - Is very, VERY slow build filled with a lot of confusion, awkwardness, denial, competitiveness, and embarrassment but eventual happiness through mutual understanding. I personally HC that Yurio had something like a crush on Yuuri starting pre-canon, but he is both too emotionally immature and in denial to even consider it. It’ll take years of getting closer, spending time at Yuuri’s side, and forcing himself to analyze why he’s feeling angry -> jealous?, before Yurio’s finally able to recognize and then eventually accept his feelings. Then it’s up to him aggressively push forward because Yuuri’s not the brightest in the romance department himself, and while he’s very fond of Yurio, it will not have really occurred to him to see Yurio in that light.

After a week of rain you were overjoyed to wake up one morning and find sunlight streaming through your blinds. Usually you aren’t much of a morning person but this morning was a special one–you had to call Changkyun and make sure he was free to enjoy the sunshine.

Do you have any idea what time it is?” is the first thing he said to you that day.

“It’s not like you’re a stranger to waking up early.”

There’s silence on the other end and for a moment you’re worried he’s fallen asleep but– “Yeah, I know, I’ve been up for an hour already.” He laughed loudly and you realised that the other members must be awake too. “Figured you’d call me when you saw the weather so I didn’t bother waking you.

“How do you know me so well?”

You could actually picture his exaggerated shrug before he replied. “I love you, don’t I? Anyway, am I picking you up or what?
