Anna ran up the steps of the porch and stood at the door, fumbling at the lock with numb fingers. The autumn weather had gone from gloriously bright, cool and crisp, to dark, dreary, depressing, and cold. She’d gotten caught in light rain showers three times during her long day of errands, and never properly dried out. The icy breeze made her damp, clammy clothes feel as if they were freezing solid.

The key slipped from her hand as a fresh gust of wind made Anna shiver convulsively. She rested her forehead against the door, trying not to cry.

Charles was standing on the ice, glaring at Kristoff. “She’s gonna kill me.” He groaned.

“It’s not my fault you picked the loosing team.” Kristoff grinned.

“She’s gonna kill me and then when I tell her you’re the reason I’m in this thing, she’s gonna kill you.”  He sighed, looking down at the pink sparkly dress that stops halfway up his torso with the sleeves only pulling up to his elbows. 

“Just shut up and say cheese.” Kristoff pulled out his phone and though he was annoyed, Charles obliged him and posed for the picture, hands on his hips with a perfect duck-face.
