↳“Previously an agent and bodyguard to Empress Jessamine Kaldwin, Corvo is stripped of his title of Lord Protector and imprisoned by the usurper, Royal Spymaster Hiram Burrows, on the pretense of having murdered the Empress and abducted her daughter, Emily Kaldwin. After escaping from confinement on the eve of his execution, Corvo becomes either an assassin or vigilante for the Loyalist Conspiracy, eliminating Burrows’ confederates to clear his name, avenge the Empress’ death, and restore Emily to the throne.”
The thing that intrigued me the most from the lovely turnonred’s report on Harvey Smith’s lecture was the tidbit that each person marked by the Outsider has a power that is uniquely theirs; ie, Daud is the only individual who can pass on his powers and summon his Whalers like Pokemon.
So what’s Corvo’s power?
(I know that it’s slightly excessive and ridiculous to meta about this: we have no idea how canon this remark is re: it being reflected ingame, and we don’t know if the Outsider powers we see are the full extent of Corvo’s powers. But dammit, I’m gonna do this anyway)
Jessamine talks enough for the both of them. It’s not hard, given Corvo doesn’t talk at all but she knows him, knows him down to the bones so he lets her speak for him but never over him. Emily is born with the knack, knowing when he’s not impressed and talking out his thoughts with him, never for him. It’s mysterious, they say. He only talks to Jessamine, the hand signals all mean something different depending on the person, he doesn’t speak because he’s magic, he wears high collars because of the scar on his throat. Only one of those is true.
