Mail Jeevas was a really hyperactive, curious boy. Wammy always said that he was making up for wasted time.
He was born on a really strict family, and wasn’t allowed outside. The first time he got out of the house was when his parents didn’t return for a week, and he decided to go search for them. He was 11. When it was night time, a police officer saw him wandering alone, and took him into the station.
Matt didn’t understand why those adults were all over him, asking questions about his family. Yes, he was the only son of the Jeevas family. No, he didn’t know what they did for a living. Yes, his dad had a laboratory, but he wasn’t allowed to go in there. No, he didn’t know where they went.
Shortly after that day, he was sent to Wammy’s orphanage, and meeting so many kids his age opened up his eyes. Learning all those interesting facts. Being able to wander through the terrains, and going on trips with other kids! He was happy. Sure, he sometimes missed his parents, but he loved his new home.
Adults came, and some kids went with them, but not Matt. When he truly understood what was going on, it started to make him sad, and he started staying more and more inside. He could learn anything from a computer or the library, anyways.
He was one of the kids that, eventually, ended up adopted by Wammy himself. At age 13, he met L for the first time, and got along really well with him, becoming practically inseparable. L played videogames with him for the first time, and Matt was ecstatic.
In computers and games, he found his passion.
He learnt how to hack at age 15, and got his first job as a white hat hacker when he turned 18. With his first salary, he got himself a camera and some recording devices, and with that, the gaming channel VideoCigarettes was born.
Now he lives with his brother L in a cozy apartment, making videoblogs with him and playing games for the world, while secretly helping people with his hacking skills.
Openly admires Donna’s search for freedom and empowerment.
Deeply respects Kitty’s job as a nurse, mother and wife. Constantly helps her with house chores, food and fixing things around her house.
Eric assumes Donna will be a stay at home wife and will take care alone of the babies, to which he answers with: “Donna, man. Forman’s just limited by his experiences. As the voice of a new generation of smart, independent women, you need to make this dillhole realize that a mind and spirit like yours has more options than your mothers had.”
Immediately calls out Kelso on his bullshit when he cheats on Jackie and is the first one to step in to defend her when everyone else tries to make her feel bad all the time.
Thinks Jackie, a girl he doesn’t like, should and can do better than Kelso. Constantly tells her this and is disappointed at her getting back together with the cheater.
Believes Donna’s decision of not accepting Eric’s promise ring are right ones and supports her during the break up, even when Eric is his best friend/brother.
Punches assholes that call other girls names and want to use them only for sex.
Firmly believes women should not be only breeders or depend on a man, things that later he let Jackie know by telling her she should and can work for her own nice stuff.
Also reminds her he is NOT like Eric, and will happily cherish her in her success in the career of her choice. He won’t mind her being more successful than him and winning more than him.
Stands up for Brooke when asshole Kelso decides he won’t do anything about Betsy when he first hears the news about Brooke’s pregnancy. Makes him get some reason and do right by her and their unborn child.
DOES support Jackie’s career, even when they aren’t together at the moment and steps aside so she can success and be happy on her own.
it’s just interesting how dan and phil’s life seems so perfectly structured. dan was just a fan of phil and somehow got noticed by him and something about dan caught phil’s attention .. like .. what got dan noticed but they become internet friends. it’s so surreal how they were able to stay close after two years because internet friends are great but normally don’t last as long. they could’ve easily broken off that friendship because it was too difficult to maintain, but did they? no. over the course of these two years i swear dan like.. almost lives in phil’s house. nothing can keep them apart. we see the continuation of phil is not on fire and in some video dan comments on how phil has his own flat so he can take his stuff from the lester’s house to phil’s flat. also the fact that phil encourages dan to start a youtube channel and dan sticks with it ? then??!! dan goes to manchester university and later moves in with phil and they’re both youtubers but dans in school n stuff. dan drops out of uni to pursue this youtube thing that he doesn’t even know will work and will supply him a steady income and then?? bbc christmas special to an opportunity to have a radio show in london with bbc radio 1. they pick up and move again and this time they go to london and the next five years are wild. they reach what i believe is the peak of their careers while simultaneously SOMEHOW becoming closer friends because they couldn’t be closer?? they write a book together commemorating their lives and then they write a stage show to be performed around the world and sold out at various locations. then they write ANOTHER book commemorating their tour which perfectly incapsulated who they are. they take a few months off and suddenly they’re moving again into another flat together. looking back, they’ve done so much together and somehow, two lives became one.
that interview with Zach Sang is probably the best interview BTS’s has had since coming to the US for the AMAs. like, Zach obviously did his research and he didn’t ask petty questions like ‘who is your celebrity crush?’ instead what he did were:
he actually asked questions the boys’ wanted to answer and you could see that they’re very comfortable.
yoongi even spoke up a couple of times and joked about making it to the billboard zs: what was your dream growing up? like, when you first realized that you wanted to sing. what was your end goal? what did you wanna see yourself do? yg: go the billboard. i made it <laughs>
he talked about how BTS’ music embodies change and the belief of the next generation and that even when their songs are in Korean they’re proving that music is w/o borders wHICH IS ONLY WHAT NAMJOON HAS BEEN TALKING ABOUT EVERYTIME SOME IDIOT ASKS THEM ABOUT RELEASING AN ENGLISH SONG
he did his research about the history of their songs and their lyrics and Namjoon legit sounded surprised when Zack reference their earlier lyrics of studying and being turned into working machine bECAUSE SHIT SO FAR HE’S THE ONLY INTERVIEWER WHO TALKED ABOUT IT
instead of talking about how the boy’s are dealing with the glitz and glamor of being a celebrity/idol, he asked abouthow they deal with the pressure of being idols and basically being looked up to by their fans and how do they deal with it(of course he mentioned about the glitz and glamor of being a celebrity but that it’s just material and he asked them how they stay in touch with themselves)
he understand that BTS’ journey isn’t an easy one and he knows what their work is all about calling them ‘socially charged since the beginning’
HE’S THE ONLY ONE WHO ASKED ABOUT THEIR UNICEF WORK SO FARand you could practically see the boys light up at the question. they all smiled and nodded and Namjoon thanked him and enthusiastically discussed about their UNICEF #EndViolence campaign
he asked them about how they remind themselves to love their selves and not as BTS - which for me is a very relevant and good question bc so far all we see people ask them is ‘how does it feel like to be one of the biggest boy bands in the world??’
the boys are comfortable enough to answer in Korean and let Namjoon translate for them unlike in the other interviews where they really struggle to speak in english for the interviewer (but idk. maybe that’s just me)
yg: please don’t compare yourself with others jh: finding my dreams and something that i really want to achieve is the best way to love myself nj: simply just call yourself (…) if i’m zach i’ll tell myself ‘zach, you’re doing just great. zach, i love you.’ pat your shoulder 3x a day. that can change you.’
he asked them if anybody in the group has the goal of learning english and everyone is just like ‘of course!’ (suga said ‘why not?’ V was very cute raising his hand and saying ‘me!’ and jhope sang the english alphabet. omg these boys.)
namjoon said they’re practicing and studying and memorizing words for the interviews and he’s really very, very proud of them. (◡‿◡✿)
ZACH TOLD THEM TO JUST KEEP RELEASING MUSIC IN KOREAN because BTS is connecting people through music, telling the same struggles and experiences wherever they may be, and it’s a Big Deal.
He thanks BTS for their UNICEF work, telling them it’s very appreciated that the boys are working towards making the world a safer place and Namjoon legit said he’s the first one to ask them about their UNICEF campaign and said they’re so touched.
Some things in Death Note that I can’t stop thinking about.
The fact that Misa Amane, while having no idea why she was tied up and blindfolded, was very calm. Compare her, in confinement, without her memories, calmly talking to a man she doesn’t know–that she believes to be a crazed fan–to Light in confinement, without his memories. He screams at L, begs him, pleads with him, and generally loses his cool. What was Misa’s life like that she was able to remain so collected in that situation.
The fact that while Near’s life was in danger, he made it a point to save all his toys.
The fact that when he plays with his toys, nine times out of ten, he’s using them to construct a barrier around himself.
Does Near buy blank puppets and paint them, or does he have them specially made? (This goes for his L mask, too.)
The fact that there was only a single existing picture of Mello, and none of Near.
The fact that Mello apparently paints his fingernails.
The fact that Matsuda was the only one who believed wholeheartedly in Light’s innocence at the end, and the fact that Matsuda was the one who shot him.
The fact that Matsuda is apparently a stellar marksman.
The fact that Matsuda, no matter how much he’s put down or belittled by the people he works with, always gives everything he has, even if it’s a seemingly minor or useless task.
The fact that Soichiro Yagami died happy, believing in his son’s innocence.
The fact that he, a trained policeman who probably has shot his fair share of people, couldn’t use the Death Note, even in self defense.
The fact that there are characters named Beyond Birthday and JustinArmonia Beyondormason and that no one ever seems to do anything with this.
The fact that there’s apparently a shinigami named fucking Justin.
The fact that Misa is apparently less than five feet tall what the hell.
The fact that we don’t know the origins of L and B’s eccentricities. Was B copying L? Was he trying to hide his own identity in case things went badly (did he ever consider that they might?), or was he trying to make a mockery of the person he’d been forced to be? Or did L copy B, taking his detective handle–one chosen to mock him in the first place–the way he took the names of Coil and Deneuve? Did he do it to honor someone he failed, or was it just another way of protecting his identity?
The fact that B’s alias was literally “Backup”.
The fact that Ryuk is shy around girls.
The fact that the apple really… has no symbolism at all. You could read into it, sure–forbidden fruit, eating from the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil, man’s expulsion from Eden–but really, it was just to “look cool” and fit in with Ryuk’s design.
When Adam kissed him, it was every mile per hour Ronan had ever gone over the speed limit. It was every window-down, goose-bumps-on-skin, teeth-chattering-cold night drive. It was Adam’s ribs under Ronan’s hands and Adam’s mouth on his mouth, again and again and again. It was stubble on his lips and Ronan having to stop, to get his breath, to restart his heart. They were both hungry animals, but Adam had been starving for longer.
