I’ve loved the Toronto Maple Leafs for my entire life and I didn’t think it was possible to love this team and this franchise more than I already did but this year has challenged that.
This entire season has been fantastic; it’s been historic and a fresh start, it’s been a century and it’s the start of another 100 years of Toronto hockey. It’s been facing old demons and creating new challenges and new ways to improve. It’s been kicking that haunting memory of a “4 to 1 lead” in the teeth and sweeping the Boston Bruins for the entire season. It’s been going from first out of the race to the post-season to last out of the first round.
It’s been Auston “40 goal scorer” Matthews scoring four goals in his rookie debut. It’s been Mitch Marner breaking a decades old assist record. It’s William Nylander breaking the rookie point streak record and Zach “shorty king” Hyman. It’s been Connor Brown hitting 20 goals and Nikita Zaitsev breaking the points record for a Russian rookie defenseman and Sosh and Josh and Kasperi stepping in to complete the fourth line when called upon.
This was the year Nazem Kadri hit 30 goals and Jake Gardiner and JVR and Tyler Bozak hit career highs. Morgan Reilly has never looked more ready to become the next Captain. Roman Polak has become a key part of our astonishing noteworthy PK unit. Leo Komarov will still gleefully chirp you in nearly half a dozen languages while stealing the puck out from under your nose. Matt Martin checked and cuddled his way into everyone’s heart, Connor Carrick was small but mighty and Brian Boyle stepped up to be large and in charge at the faceoff dot.
Goaltending in Toronto has been something of a cursed position but Freddie Anderson has more than broken that bit of bad luck. He left a secure back up position on a very good team to become our starting goaltender and it’s been amazing to feel reassured when you know that Freddie is in the net.
There are so many moments that will stand out in my memory when I think about this team and this year. Auston’s four goals, his thirty four goals, his forty goals. Mitch Marner’s first game against Boston. Living On A Prayer. Auston’s first game at home. The Centennial Classic against Detroit. Freddie’s first shutout. Mo hitting 100 points and Mitch’s much giffed celly. Suits and crying babies and Nikita Zaitsev’s first goal. St. Pat’s jerseys and watching William Nylander skate though center ice. Mac’s game against Florida to keep us in the race and his save on Sidney Crosby.
Connor Brown’s playoff clinching goal. Mitch Marner’s first playoff goal less than two minutes into the series. Kasperi Kapanen coming up big against Pittsburgh and again in 2OT.
The summer is going to bring change and probably some heartbreak, but right now, I can’t wait until October and we get to see more Maple Leafs hockey.
I think the reason I hate 99.9% of fandom characterizations of the DA2 crew is because they get reduced to tropes. Hawke becomes the Class Clown and Fenris is the Grump and it’s tiresome and overdone. Why people wanna take fully-developed characters and reduce them to one-dimension is beyond me.
As much as I love that game I tend to avoid anything to do with it.
I’m at 200 followers!!! You guys 😭 I love you all so much, thank you tons and tons for this. I’ll figure out some gift I can give you, in the mean time Sim Requests are still open so if you wish to have any of my babies in your game, please message me!
“You were supposed to be a side effect of the drugs.” “I’m not a hallucination,” Neil said, nonplussed. “You are a pipe dream,” Andrew said.
Either Andrew had confiscated Nicky’s copy or he’d gone out and gotten Neil one of his own. Neither option made much sense to Neil.
“Tell your pet psycho to knock it off before he cripples someone.” “I don’t think he’ll listen to me,” Neil said. “You and I both know he will. Now get going.”
"Just promise me this isn’t going to be a problem.” “What?” Neil asked. “I can’t tell if you’re being obtuse to fuck with me or if you’re really that dumb,” Wymack said. When Neil just stared blankly at him, Wymack rubbed his temples as if warding off a headache. “I would pity you, but Andrew’s right. I don’t get paid enough to get involved in this. Figure it out yourself—on your own time.”
Neil sat sideways in his chair, facing Andrew, and said, ”Why does Roland think you're tying me down?“
Neil wasn’t sure he should keep pushing, but if he didn’t get the truth now he knew he never would. ”I didn’t think I was a personal problem. You hate me, remember?“
“You hate me, remember?” "Every inch of you,” Andrew said. “That doesn’t mean I wouldn’t blow you.” The world tilted a little bit sideways. Neil dug his shoes harder into the floor so he wouldn’t fall over. “You like me.” “I hate you,” Andrew corrected him, but Neil barely heard him. For a dizzying moment, he understood.
i haven’t finished me:a yet - and i will! i want to know the rest of the story. but this game has already burned me way too many times. i’m sorry i can’t be more positive - trust me, i tried, i have been holding out hope despite every shitty thing that happens and all the garbage i see, but… i just can’t do it anymore.
bioware is supposed to care about this. this is what they’re known for.
a follow up piece to >this< piece from yesterday. i had no idea when i sat down today that i was at the end of this journey. i knew in my heart what would probably happen - so i wasn’t surprised - but to say i was “ready” would be a spectacular lie. thinking about the last few chapters through Prompto’s eyes makes it even harder to absorb. so… this is a consolation piece for my heart.
I couldn’t stop thinking about the post that @banavalope made about their interpretation on BOTW!Link, so I couldn’t pass up on drawing him. Their outfit/armor choice is just so nice? I admire the idea so much honestly.
