The way Matsuo looks at Ebumi is too much.

A RIDICULOUS BONUS:

I hardly see any posts out there about this so I guess I’ll be the one to do it.

To all my beautiful followers with eczema, vitiligo, birthmarks, psoriasis, or any other skin condition-you are beautiful.

For all my lovely guys, girls, and non binary friends going to prom this year and feeling self conscious as hell-I love you & you are beautiful. You slay in that dress or tux. I know it’s not easy but your skin condition does not define you.

  • What she says: I'm fine
  • What she means: While I'm excited to see another comeback from Monsta X, I'm also somewhat afraid. With both another comeback AND a world tour coming up, I'm really worried about their mental, physical, and emotional wellbeing. They've been doing so much lately and haven't gotten a break ever since their last comeback, and now Starship Entertainment is pushing them into even more promotions. They always put everything they have into everything they do and I'm just really worried that they'll push themselves too hard in order to get #1 and make their company happy. All I want is for Monsta X to be able to rest without Starship breathing down their necks and pushing them to constantly promote. Let my babies rest, spend time with their families, and be happy for a little while.

i want every creator that doesn’t have a circle of friends to help spread their work to know i’m rooting for you.

i know you’re too shy reach out, you’re too busy to make the connections, you just want to share your hard work, you want your work to stand on its own without politics and favoritism to sway opinions.

i also know you feel really alone most days.

try to remember your work is valid. it is good. it is worthy.

please don’t stop.

they might have “popularity” but you have something far more important: talent, skill, passion, and beauty. the truly gifted creators were never recognized during their time. the popular ones are all but forgotten now.

please don’t stop creating. you are amazing.

A Writer’s PSA

Firstly: I just saw an interesting post made by @caplanbuckybarnes (who I can’t tag, but that’s okay), that inspired both anger and relief in me at once. I was compelled to type out this PSA.

Secondly: I am tagging everyone who has asked to be tagged in The Irrelevance of Napoli SO YOU CAN SEE HOW GODDAMN AWESOME THEY ARE BEFORE I START THIS.

@thecrownedrose @persephone-is-here-omg @find-me-here2 @captainamerotica @redgillan @angryschnauzer @ursulaismymiddlename @rebelslicious @kittykitty-mewmeww @erisjade @siren-kitten-his @buckyappreciationsociety @kozmicrock @aingealcethlenn @rachelle-on-the-run @thewinterswimmer @vaisabu @inside-lizzys-head @angryschnauzer @melconnor2007

Thirdly: I am doing this more for the sake of my upcoming fic, Cherchez la Femme, which I have been working on for MONTHS–probably since Septemberish–than I am for Napoli. Also doing this for the sake of other authors who may feel this way, but don’t want to say anything for fear of making people mad. I personally am tired of dealing with my own anxiety about this subject, so I’m getting this off my chest.

Okay.

 I am exceedingly frustrated by the majority of attitudes (or non attitudes) I see towards anything that is not a one-shot on here. ESPECIALLY if it’s smut.

I like smut. I love smut. I’ve read some really good smut on here. But… that’s not all I’ve read on here. When I first got on Tumblr, I found some really unique and interesting fics, and I got very invested in them. But lately, the majority of what I’ve been seeing on this site is the same damn thing, over and over and over again. Smut one shots, no plot, no character development, no nothing. Those fics I was invested in were discontinued (temporarily, I hope) in favor of smut one shots, which, like I said, I don’t mind, but ya know… I also do.

Authors are capable of writing more than smut one shots.

Authors are capable of writing more than smut one shots. And many of them do write more than smut one shots. But I have seen two (2) of the multi-part fics I follow being seriously reblogged. That’s out of A LOT that I happen to read and like. One of my favorites got put on hiatus because there were no reads on the most recent chapter at the time.

Tumblr, seriously, what is going on? Like, I recognize that we all want to imagine ourselves having sex with some version of Sebastian Stan (ME TOO, I AM NOT EXCLUDING MYSELF FROM THAT GROUP) but some of these people have worked ages, ages on these fics. With well-developed characters and plot and settings and serious issues that are worked through. THESE PEOPLE I READ SHOULD WRITE ORIGINAL CONTENT AND GET PUBLISHED. In my world, they would. Because they are that good.

And yet, they get almost no recognition. And it frustrates me, and scares me, and makes me really, really sad. Some might say, “Tumblr is more (something else) than fanfic for me”–which is fine. Please engage in whatever joy may have brought you to Tumblr. But also remember that for others, it IS about fanfic, and they enjoy doing that just as much as you enjoy doing whatever you do. So hit the like button every once in a while. Read more fics of your favorite characters. Some might say, “I have –something that gives me a shorter attention span–, I can’t remember what happened before this chapter/can’t concentrate enough to get through a whole fic in the time I have”–in which case, you are fine, don’t worry about it, not a big deal. Some of you may say, “Works in progress are annoying, I hate waiting for new parts to come out”–and trust me, I’m right there with you. I’m waiting on a few new parts for fics myself (I’m also waiting for Diana Gabaldon’s next Outlander book, goddammit), but that doesn’t stop me from reading and commenting on the parts that are there! Tell the author that you have something to look forward to until the next part comes out! Also, TELL THE AUTHOR IF YOU ARE WAITING FOR THEM TO COMPLETE IT, or ask to be tagged in the final masterlist! We won’t mind if you do it that way! Some of you may just hate longer fics and there’s nothing anybody can do to change that. In which case, whatever floats your boat.

I’m not getting on anyone in the above paragraph to suddenly change your preferences and start reading fics with more than two parts. What I am saying, though, is if you consume, but don’t comment AND reblog (or at least tag and reblog), or if you don’t consume at all and blatantly ignore what authors are putting out there… come on, guys. We put our heart and souls into this stuff. Some of the stuff we write is taken from real life. Some people don’t have anything but their writing to help them get through what may be a really bad stage. Likes, comments, reblogs–writers need these. We don’t all have to be JK Rowling here, but we do hope to see that someone smiles or laughs, or cries, or feels in some way with our fics.

One of my friends on here was very sad a couple of days ago because she was getting very few notes on even her one-shots, or reblogs with no comments. She has 700+ followers and a taglist that’s a mile long. It made me sad for her, and I can’t even hug her because she lives far away from me. Readers, you don’t have to comment or reblog every chapter of a fic that’s been written, it’s really okay if you don’t, but let the reader know that you like it and acknowledge the work that’s been done.

I’m still relatively tiny on here, and I definitely need to follow more blogs, so I will now go looking. But, indulge me for a second: If, when I publish Cherchez, I deem it as not getting enough notes, I will make a goddamn video of myself deleting the thing off my computer and burning the damn notebooks. I started by writing this stuff for me. Napoli ended up being about someone I know who recently died. Cherchez was what I wrote when I was coming out of a breakdown. So yes, I write for myself. But as soon as I put it up here, it becomes yours. You consume it, you feel because of it. So really, guys, read all the smut you want. I know I’m going to. But read more than smut, too.

Sincerely,

Someone who is a teeny bit oversmutted

The “Kiss”

Of course, inspired by the TNHMB music video.

~~~
“I kissed her cheek.” Shawn’s tells you over the phone, and for a second, you’re thoroughly confused. It sounds like he’s confessing something, but at the same time, kissing someone on the cheek is hardly something to confess to. At least not in your opinion, considering you come from a culture where people do that as a greeting. You can’t count the number of times you’ve kissed someone’s cheek when you barely even knew the person’s name.
“What are you talking about?” You question, still confused as to why this seems like a big deal to him.
“Ellie, I kissed her cheek for the video.” He clarifies. “It was supposed to look like an actual kiss,” He pauses then adds, “It was supposed to be an actual kiss, but I couldn’t do it.”
Countdown to Hobi’s birthday: TODAY
Q: But Hoseok, what do you think is at the end of this beautiful moment?
Hobi: At the end of this beauty… Even if it’s ‘hwayangyeonhwa’… I don’t think it can last forever. There will be an end. I think this uncertainty, this future, has given me great fear. There always will be bigger obstacles and moments that won’t shine as much as it does now. But whenever I think about that, I think I can go through that. Just… When that moment comes that doesn’t shine like now, and gives me a lot of hardships and pain, I just want to find another 'hwayangyeonhwa’ in that moment. Thinking about that… I always overcame my fear. And not just me, but the team BTS is made of stuff that can overcome hard times. I’ve been with this team for 7 years, so I have a lot of love and faith in this team. Our team can overcome all those hard times and pain. BTS can do anything. I am really grateful that so many fans love us. It’s only been 3 years, but this is the team that can go for dozens of years. So to A.R.M.Y. who’s always by our side supporting us, I want to say “thank you” again.
thanks-b  asked:
Hello Jenny, ur account is so inspiring, so that's why I want to ask u for advice. I'm really hard-working person, but I can't deal with my homework. U know I have to study all lessons and it doesn't depends on what I'll acc pass as my finals. So I was wondering if u know how to help me not starting crying any time I start doing my homework, Bc I feel like I have so much to do and tbh it's really ( I swear) impossible to do. Sorry for the typos I'm Russian tho..
QUOTES:
“Cry as hard as you want to but  just make sure that when you stop crying, you will never cry for the same reason again”.
Hi, how are you?
OMG thank you so so much for sending me this message and it means a world to me hahaha.
Well you need to know one thing is that it’s okay to cry, to feel sad, to feel tired, sometimes. Tbh, I (everybody) have the exact same problem like you and there so too many things that need to get done and we all don’t know where to start. Maybe after you cry you will realize something (like how to do that exercise).
Here are my tips after crying (I hope that it will work):
1.  Determine/Analyze the reason why you can’t do that exercise
2. Make a list of things you need to get done.
3. Create a schedule so you know what to study!
4. You need to get a calendar or planner to see things need to get done or any tests in that week
5. If you have a test make sure that you start to learn at least one week before.
6. If you don’t understand or know how to do that exercises, you need to think first and if you still don’t know how to do it then ask your friends, your teachers, like anybody or just google it!
7. DO NOT DO ALL YOUR HOMEWORK AT THE SAME TIME, SPREAD THEM OUT (like if you have math test on Friday you should start doing your homework at least two or three days before so you will never will feel overwhelmed)
8. If you have so much things to in one day try “Touch it once” rule
9. If you have monday/anyday homework, finish it on the same day
10. Review things you just learned on the same day, the day after and on sunday
11. Take a 5-10 minutes break after 25-45 minutes study
(make sure that you are taking a break not study, and don’t do things that make you procrastinate like watching youtube/movies instead of that you show go around, do some stretching, drink water,etc.)
12. Reward yourself for working so hard
13. Don’t study in dark or in your comfort zone make sure that you have enough light, and your study space must smell good, you can also put some motivation pictures (go to my account to see hahaha ), and know need to have cup of water on your desk
14. Study with your friends can also help you too!
15. Get enough sleep and eat healthy food!
There will be more but I can remember so sorry!
Have a nice year!
p/s: my grammar is not really good:)
Some anons asked for Xros Wars! Lapidot and I couldn’t say no :3c so here a redraw from a scene from ep 50~
Okay so I’m pretty sure everyone thinks Bakugou’s parents would be in love with Kirishima like “look at this ball of sunshine he’s such a good influence on Katsuki!” or whatever but please consider: the rest of bakusquad.
Kaminari bitching with Mitsuki about Katsuki like whatever outrageous he’s done this week in class she can beat it with a temper tantrum from home. Also like progress reports on his personality like ‘Oh my God, he didn’t even shout at Midoriya today when they talked for a few minutes.’ ‘Shut up! Really?’ etc. He listens to loads of music with Masaru both because he likes it and Jirou’s taught him a lot about it. He finds cool electric versions of classical pieces which they both really enjoy. Also if there’s any scraps or just random things that they had been designing but didn’t need anymore he asks to take them home (because he’s a massive hoarder and has a serious problem) and just generally will take any clutter they’re thinking of throwing out.
Mina discussing quirk similarities with Masaru (they both have acidic quirks) and him showing her moves he made up when he still wanted to become a hero. Sometimes they do training and she tries to incorporate his ideas with her quirk and the results are really good?? Also talking about skincare with Mitsuki even though it’s kind of natural for her she still has some tips. Acid can be really hard on her skin sometimes if she’s pushing her limits so it really helps. Although one time some of Mitsuki’s glycerine and Ashido’s acid mix and it goes about as well as you expect. Luckily most things in their home are explosion-proof.
Sero just kinda being a nice guy? Like while I’m sure the Bakugou household it absolutely spotless and like all the housework is done flawlessly - if there’s something wrong Sero will help to fix it. Katsuki threw a tantrum last night and broke something? He’s got you. A draft needs to be sealed up? He’s got you. Basically anything that can be fixed with a certain amount of tape will be fixed with a lot of tape. He gets on really well with Masaru and likes talking about volleyball with Mitsuki too.
And then Kaminari and Mina begging them as designers to help Kiri with his horrible sense of fashion and even Katsuki nodding in the background even though he ‘doesn’t care’. It’s for his own sake too because you really can’t fight villains in crocs. They actually spend ages coming up with new clothes and get taught a lot about design which is great and they wish they were that good at learning when it came to UA lessons.
 They all get really close and comfortable around the Bakugous and will text Mitsuki and Masaru behind Katsuki’s back (There’s actually a group chat but no one tell him). Until the point where Kirishima and Kaminari are just there most of the time and will have meals with the Bakugous even if Katsuki isn’t there. (Unfortunately nothing can save Kiri from his fashion crisis).
Hi! I'm writing a story settled in a future where after a war, people built a new society. I've noticed that my setting is extremely vague and confusionary. I don't know when i have to insert details since i'm writing in 1st person. Like, I jave characters, I have a decent plot, I have a nice world building, but when writing I'm leaving the latter out and it's a problem. Do you have any advice? Thanks!
Setting and World Description
I love this question, because I think it’s a really, really common problem, and it’s one I’ve faced on numerous occasions. We’re often told that we should know our setting really, really well, and that we should be able to describe it in great detail. But when it comes time to put that concept into practice in the story, nothing seems to work. It all feels “info-dumpy,” or like we’re trying too hard to paint the picture, and we start to fear that we might be boring our readers, who honestly just want to know what happens in the setting.
So how do we execute setting description in such a way that it’s informative and engaging?
First, the real reason we need all this info…
Imagine you’ve got a small town as your setting, with a major street that runs through it. Along the street, there are several small businesses. During story prep, you may have done sketches of this street, or at least made a small diagram to lay out where all the businesses are. You may have even gotten really detailed and dotted bus stops or traffic lights, to the point where you can visualize this street perfectly
So now you go to write your first chapter. Your protagonist leaves home and walks down the street towards the bus stop to go off to work. As they walk the street, you start thinking, “Man, this is the perfect opportunity to describe all the businesses they’re passing by!” So you start to do that, and it all starts to sound like you’re giving directions. “To the left of the flower shop is the post office,” and so on, and so on.
But here’s the big revelation to this whole conundrum. Just because you know it, doesn’t mean you have to show it.
The reason it’s encouraged to do so much setting development isn’t so you can pass it on to your reader. At least, not everything. It’s so you know where things are, and you can navigate the world better.
Let’s say you did zero setting development, and as you were writing chapter one, you decided to have the protagonist mail a package. You throw in a brief detail about the post office being a two-minute walk from the protagonist’s house. Then, much later, your protagonist is buying some flowers, and you throw in a detail about the post office worker loading a truck outside, because the post office is right next door. And then the protagonist takes the bus home….except, didn’t you say in chapter one that they were just a couple minutes walk from the post office? Are there two post offices? Or did they just take a bus unnecessarily?
See, the real reason it’s so important to know how things are laid out in your setting is so that you don’t make mistakes like this. If you had made a diagram of your town, you would know where all these things were.
Side note: And just to add here, this does not mean that you have to make a diagram of a fictional town before you start writing in it. If you’re not much of a planner, and this sounds awful to you, then just make one as you go. In chapter one, when your protagonist walks to the post office, make a quick little map with a couple squares that shows how close your protagonist is to the post office. And as you mention other buildings, add them to this map. Then you’re not adding extra things you don’t need.
So in conclusion on this point, don’t feel like you have to add in all the details that you’ve worked out ahead of time. There will be some that you need to share with readers, but there will also be many that you only need to help you stay consistent throughout the story.
How do I add the necessary info?
When adding setting details, they need to be relevant. And if they’re not relevant, you need to make them relevant. We’ll continue with our small town/post office/flower shop example.
For the sake of simplicity, we’ll say that the flower shop and the post office are next to each other. If your protagonist is only visiting the post office, then the location of the flower shop is irrelevant. But if the flower shop being there is a detail that you feel the readers should know, or it’s something you want to include as a stylistic choice to add depth to your setting, then we need to make it relevant. So how do we do that?
Give the protagonist a reason to either A) Think about the flower shop or B) Notice something around the flower shop.
  • A) Think about the flower shop.
As she’s waiting in line at the post office, she may have a clear view of the flower shop through the window. But don’t just have her observe it. Have it trigger some kind of thought. Maybe she has a sick friend or relative, and it reminds her that she should buy them some flowers. Or she’s done something wrong, and flowers might be a nice peace offering. Or maybe it reminds her that her garden is overgrown and it needs tending. Any of these thoughts actually trigger deeper plot development, which makes them a double whammy.  Who is sick? What did she do wrong? Why is her garden overgrown? Is it always overgrown or is there something in her life that’s causing her to slack on this?
Whatever route you decide to go with, you’ve now made that flower shop relevant to the protagonist’s inner conflict, even if all it’s doing is triggering something.
  • B) Notice something around the flower shop.
This “something” could be something about the exterior of the building, or an employee they can see through the window or who is out on the street, or it could even be a couple of people standing outside the flower shop talking or doing something. The significance here isn’t so much the flower shop, but rather what’s happening around the flower shop.
In describing whatever is happening, you would say something like, “In front of the flower shop next door…” and then write the situation. In this method, you’re not giving special meaning or significance to the flower shop; you’re simply adding more color to your setting by mentioning that there is one, and a reader can visualize the scene even better if they picture a window of flowers behind whatever is happening. It ends up serving a huge purpose in just a few innocuous words.
The Bigger Picture
Okay, all flower shops and post offices aside, good setting description is integrated when a character “bumps into it,” either literally or figuratively. Describe settings when a character enters them, or when they’re thinking about them. If you feel like the description is necessary, then you need to find a reason to get the character to either go there, or else think about going there, or remember going there. It needs to have context with other story information.
When it comes to complex world-building details, you follow the same principle. If there are unique circumstances that your character has to face in the world you’ve created, explain them in moments when the character is either facing those circumstances, or when they’re thinking about facing them or remembering facing them.
I suppose you could argue that I’m making this more complicated than it needs to be, because there are readers that love description for description’s sake, but for many readers, we need context. We need to know that what we’re reading is telling a story and moving events forward, rather than just informing us or educating us on a story world.
Plan minor story events around exposition. Make things happen in your story that help to reveal the important details of your world and setting. It might seem clunky when you first start doing this, but if you’re patient with yourself, eventually you’ll be integrating description and world backstory like a pro.
Keep going!
“Our lives pass by so quickly that we don’t realize that there are so many precious moments to catch in [life]. In our daily life let’s record each and every moment and turn them into our memories. Let’s talk together, laugh together, sing together. That moment we share together unknowingly has already become special in our hearts. One month, you and I, the time we spent together, when we remember about this, it will be an amazing memory to us. That memory to you, I hope it will become your special daily life” - Taeyeon to her fans
