i'm allowed to do that yeah

hey no offense but can we stop getting mad at people for not knowing every musical? i’ve seen a lot of posts lately targeting people who are only into the newer musicals or only know a couple and that should be allowed? like yeah there are a lot of amazing musicals that are a little more obscure and it would be great if more people discovered and loved them but at the same time musical theatre is really inaccessible and it takes a lot of energy to get to know a show, whether you have to figure out how to see it live or how to get a bootleg or download the cast album, and it’s a big time investment no matter what. not to mention the fact that people might like one musical for a specific reason that doesn’t apply to other musicals (like people might enjoy hamilton, but its style is really different from most of musical theatre). so let people enjoy the musicals they know and don’t attack them for not learning more.

Ushijima Wakatoshi may be an antagonist, but he is not a malicious person

@shiratorizawa-headcanons’ recent post reignited the fervour and indignation I feel about popular fanon mischaracterisations of Ushijima, so here we go.

First thing’s first. Ushijima is an antagonist. That much is clear. He is clearly intended to provide opposition to the main characters of the series, pushing them to grow. Their goal has to be accomplished through defeating him.

However, antagonist is not synonymous with evil, or “bad person”. L from Death Note is the antagonist to Light Yagami, but I’m sure everyone knows who poses more of a danger to society between the pair of them.

More importantly, I feel the need to clarify and debunk popular fanon interpretations of Ushijima.

“You should have gone to Shiratorizawa” is a joke that probably everyone who watches Haikyuu!! knows. It’s gone from a slightly funny meme to a stale, overused, tasteless joke. While I do not condemn the use of it as a joke, it has affected the way people view Ushijima’s character.

And is it really accurate or relevant? Name one instance where Ushijima has actually physically said the words “You should have gone to Shiratorizawa.” to Oikawa. When? Yes, he has said that “He should have gone to Shiratorizawa”. To Hinata and Kageyama. And his reason? A powerhouse team like Shiratorizawa that actually makes it to nationals and has a chance of winning would be more beneficial to a setter of Oikawa’s calibre. There is nowhere in canon where he has stalked, harassed and haggled Oikawa, begging or forcing him to go to Shiratorizawa. All that is baseless fanon bullshit. There’s literally no canon evidence suggesting that Ushijima even thinks about Oikawa outside of volleyball competitions.

I’ll admit that Ushijima did tell Oikawa, “You chose the wrong path.” and that did cross the line. That does not, however, automatically make him a creepy, overbearing, obsessive stalker. People are allowed to interpret fiction differently (as a literature student I’m more than aware of that). But Ushijima’s words were an act of concern, rather than coercion or violence.

What people need to understand is that Ushijima, while a talented player, is terrible at predicting and understanding the effects his words and actions might have on people. He is a blunt, straightforward and honest person who says what is on his mind. The reason he feels that Oikawa should have gone to Shiratorizawa is because he respects Oikawa’s abilities as a player and sees Oikawa’s potential. His way of showing it might be odd, but it is precisely because he respects Oikawa as an opponent that he questions Oikawa’s choice. To Ushijima, being at Shiratorizawa would allow for Oikawa to fulfil more of his potential (of course, the validity of that belief is questionable considering the treatment of Semi Eita, but that is another argument to consider) He honestly just wanted to warn Oikawa not to “make the same mistake” again without realising that he was basically rubbing salt on Oikawa’s wound + being offensive by telling Oikawa that the decision he’s based the past three years of his life around is wrong, because he genuinely wants to see Oikawa fulfil his potential as a player.

Ushijima’s intentions are not malicious. He respects his opponents despite his thoughts on their abilities (or lack thereof), and when he realises that he’s offended someone he’s quick to apologise (i.e. when Hinata questioned Ushijima calling Seijoh “infertile soil”. Ushijima sweated nervously and apologised for causing offence.) Even Oikawa and Iwaizumi, the two characters who dislike Ushijima the most, acknowledge that “he’s genuinely being sincere” when Ushijima wishes them good luck in their final high school tournament.

Ushijima isn’t the type to deliberately rile up his opponents. He doesn’t look down on them either. Up until Hinata’s appearance in his life, he’s competed against no one but himself mentally. And when Ushijima questions Hinata on being an unskilled and short player? He’s not insulting Hinata for that either! His first impression of Hinata gave him high expectations - a challenge he looked forward to facing, and when he realised Hinata’s abilities were much lower than what he expected, he was genuinely curious, because Hinata had spoken so boldly (about beating HIM, a top 3 ace, and going to nationals) before!

Ushijima states that “baseless self-confidence is something I dislike”, so he certainly does not exhibit that himself. He obviously doesn’t expect someone he acknowledges (Hinata, in case I’m not being clear here) to be arrogant, because in his eyes, an opponent he acknowledges and respects should have a “good” attitude just like his. He does not dislike Hinata himself, but is nonetheless infuriated by Hinata’s “arrogance”, because Ushijima works hard. Yes. Here’s the thing. Contrary to popular belief, Ushijima did not get his accomplishments handed to him on a silver platter. He works hard to become a strong volleyball player. Shiratorizawa’s image of him is “The Super Volleyball Maniac”. He wasn’t just naturally good at it. He spent time and effort practising and improving his skills, just like all the other hardworking characters (Oikawa Tooru) you worship.

Remember that Ushijima does not have the luxury of viewing the events of the manga (or anime) from an outsider’s perspective. He does not know of Hinata Shouyou and his struggles. All Ushijima knows about Hinata is that 1) The boy showed him up at Shiratorizawa and proclaimed that Karasuno would defeat Shiratorizawa and go to nationals and 2) Hinata Shouyou does not exhibit the skills necessarily to back up that statement. Ushijima literally has no idea that Hinata had no proper volleyball team or training up until last year, so it’s entirely within his rights to be annoyed that someone with such crappy skills (which Ushijima would attribute to slacking off/not working hard enough) would claim that winning against Shiratorizawa was so easy. He could’ve been nicer about it, but hey, he wasn’t that hostile to Hinata off the court, as you can see with the training camp arc. At the end of the match he acknowledged Hinata’s abilities as a player. Then in the manga, he (and Tendou) was shocked that his coach did not see Hinata as a worthy player to invite to the Miyagi First Year Training Camp, and he encouraged Hinata to keep working hard, “What are you doing standing there?”

Obviously, people are allowed to dislike characters, and Ushijima has done/said things to grate on people’s nerves (as a Seijoh stan and Iwaizumi lover, his “infertile soil” comments do irk me at times). Nonetheless, your personal feelings towards him do not indicate that he is as bad person (especially not a stalker or a rapist, gosh) canonically.

Hi, I was hoping you could help me on a school project I'm working on. I wanted to talk about complex characters in the Dragon Age series. I wanted your opinion on Loghain. Like yeah, he's trying to kill you for most of the game. But he's doing it out of his love for Ferelden and Maric. And its obvious he knows Alistair was Maric's son, he and Cailan look like brothers. Yet he pushes for Anora to be queen. She's his daughter but she doesn't have Theirin blood. He wants the best for Ferelden but

he allows the country to be taken over by darkspawn proclaiming them not a threat or a Blight. I just wanted to know your opinions on him, if he’s a villain or a good man doing bad things. I hope I wasn’t a bother to you and would really appreciate it if you could answer. Thank you!

So, firstly, here’s the background you need to understand to fully understand Loghain’s viewpoint re: Orlais and the blight (I am aware that some of it you already know.

  1. Orlais has used the cover of a blight to take over nations before.
  2. Duncan, while he was born in Ferelden to either a Fereldan father and a Rivaini mother or a Tevene father and a Rivaini mother, was raised in Orlais, and almost certainly considered himself Orlesian.
  3. Duncan was one of the Wardens who were unintentionally involved in the near kidnapping of King Maric about twenty years before.
  4. Alistair’s mother, Fiona, was also involved in this.
  5. As far as Loghain knows, Alistair could easily be in contact with his mother, an Orlesian elf.
  6. Flemeth, when she met with Loghain and Maric in TST, told Maric a blight would sweep Ferelden, but that Maric would not live to see it. Admitting that it is a blight means admitting that Maric is dead. (It turns out in the comics that Flemeth is a liar, but Loghain likely has a decent amount of guilt about something else she said during that conversation, so he may still hold this to be true.)

So, to Loghain, Duncan is already an untrustworthy Orlesian, who’s attempting to use the cover of a blight, of which this can’t be because if it is that means Maric is dead, to usurp this nation and put Alistair, potentially spurred on by his Orlesian elf mother, Fiona, on the throne as a puppet king.

The fact is, none of the Wardens seem particularly trustworthy either. Tabris killed a Fereldan noble who, as far as Loghain knows, was a decent man. Brosca, Amell, Aeducan, or Mahariel aren’t Ferelden citizens (Brosca and Aeducan are from Orzammar, Mahariel is Dalish, and Amell is from Kirkwall.) Cousland’s parents now have a cordial relationship with Orlais, having received a gift from a nobleman who mistook Bryce for the king. Surana, having the least fleshed out background is the one exception, but she’s an elven Circle mage, and Fiona is almost certainly head of the libertarian fraternity at this point, so making the link that they’re somehow tied to this conspiracy is frightfully easy.

The signal fire came late, this is canon, from Alistair. Loghain had a choice at this point, risk his men and save the king, breaking a promise he made to Maric (Maric made him promise during the war that if it ever came down to saving him or their men, to save their men, and while Cailan is not Maric, the message behind his words still stands), or keep his promise, and keep his men safe to fight another day. He chose that option.

Now, after the battle, he was sure the signal fire was late on purpose, a plot by the Wardens, as he had no way of knowing that the tower of Ishal was flooded by darkspawn. Of course he thought Ali and the Warden were responsible for the death of the king.

He took over as regent for Anora to allow her to grieve, as he’d done for Maric when Maric was in his deep depression at the death of Queen Rowan.

There is no indication that the king and queen of Fereldan are anything but coregents, so of course Loghain would fight to keep Anora on her throne. No Theirin blood or not, it’s still /her/ throne, and any attempt to put Alistair on it would be a usurpation, Maric’s son or not. It’d also mean Anora’s death, as, if Anora was kept alive, she could either rally troops behind her and try to retake her throne, or, less likely, she could end up being in the early stages of pregnancy, and give birth to a Theirin heir who could do the same thing later on, more easily because of their heritage.

The only thing Loghain does that isn’t understandable, that’s inexcusable, and is a betrayal of Maric’s values and Ferelden, is selling elves into slavery.

Hope this helps.

Hey guys. So… I’ve been thinking.
I create content pretty much everyday, spend hours and hours on it and I get your notes, your gratitude, amazing comments and I love it, don’t get me wrong… but this won’t pay for my medications. I’m 21, have no job and I still have to ask my mom for money. She pays for my meds, for my clothes, for everything and I feel like shit about it. We’re not rich. We don’t really have much money. My dad had to leave to work in Germany because his job here wasn’t good enough anymore. And yeah, it’s easy to say “just look for a job lol”, the thing is I have been looking but I’m not in good health. I’m struggling with several mental illnesses that make my normal life hard enough, not even mentioning actually going out to people and working. Not with social anxiety that suddenly got worse. I’m taking various meds, I’m going to therapy and I’m seeing psychiatrist every month. It all costs money and I feel so bad when my mom has to pay for it. That’s why I’m considering adding ad.fly to my links… Don’t get scared, just one, not two. If you have adfly skipper it would take you straight to the download so yeah… I would have to make a wixsite or something, cause tumblr doesn’t allow that. It’s gonna take a lot of work. But I’m actually writing this to ask for your opinion. Would you be okay with that?

For anyone hating Camila for leaving or bitter about all this situation, just ask yourself: do you really believe that a 19 year teenager girl, only known from being in a girls band group would have the power all alone to demand to go solo and the label would just follow her wish? Yeah, right... I'm not saying she didn't want to do solo stuff, all the girls wanted and we know it. But it's pretty suspicious that only C was "allowed" by the label to do it 1/2

The more I think about it, the more I’m sure it was all planned  from the start and long ago written in their contracts… without their acknowledgment to make it able to create tensions within the group and families. But none of them could or can do anything, because again, how can’t you find it suspicious that Camila is still under the same label/management as before? Yeah… For that, just support the girls and don’t take everything personal because we see just want they want us to see 2/2

I COULDN’T HAVE SAID IT BETTER MYSELF ANON 👏👏👏

Hestia likes the Dursley boy, though everyone had told her to watch out for that family. Of course, he is rude, sometimes, when he forgets himself, or when it seems that his mother is doing alright, and he isn’t needed to balance the tension in the room with false cheer. Of course, he is without mercy, in the way he talks politics over the dinner table. Of course, he is completely and utterly without curiosity about the magical world she and Diggle had brought into the Muggle flat.

But there’s something about him she doesn’t hate like she hates his parents. Maybe it’s the underlying sadness, where Vernon and Petunia had only anger. Maybe it’s the way he listens to Potterwatch and the other Order of the Phoenix-allied radio stations with a concentration so intense he might be expecting to be tested on it later.

It isn’t until she catches him staring intently at a bowtruckle climbing the wall, poking at it with the back of a spoon and trying to get it to explain itself that she sees that he is curious about the world he’s never been allowed to touch.

“You can just ask, you know, if you want to know what something is,” she says, since neither Dursley parent is present. “That’s a bowtruckle. Magical creature of the forest. That one’s name is Eloise, and Diggle got him years ago from a traveler.”

Dudley looks up, astonished. “What, really?”

“Yeah, their life span is almost as long as–”

“You mean I can ask you whatever I want? I’ve never been allowed to do that.”

From the way the boy’s eyes light up, Hestia can tell she’s created a monster. And she somehow can’t bring herself to care.

#92 - For isle-of-flightless-josh & vanswritings

Filling the prompts “can you write Single dad Van? Taking his 5, 6 years old daughter on tour with him? And maybe him taking her to meet the reader for the first time?” from @isle-of-flightless-josh and “Can you write about Van as a dad ?” from @vanswritings

Note: ONE FOR MY GIRLSSSS! I really like this one so if you do too, pls let me know!

You walked around the corner of the hallway and stopped in your tracks. There was a child standing in the middle of the room, looking around confused. She was in teeny tiny jeans, and her t-shirt had little cats and love hearts printed on it. Her brown hair was a mess and she was barefoot. She looked up at you with big blue eyes. You could see she was upset but wasn’t at the crying stage just yet.

“Hey, honey. Are you okay?” you asked, crouching down but not stepping closer to her. She closed the space herself, walking the few metres to stand right in front of you. She had freckles across her nose.

“I can’t find Daddy,” she told you. Her little face was contorted into the saddest expression you’d ever seen. She was holding her hands together, twisting her fingers in anxiety.

“Okay. We can find him. Can’t have gone far,” you said. She nodded. “Do you know Daddy’s name?”

“Daddy,” she replied. It was cute, but you didn’t laugh at her.

“What do other grown-ups call him?” you tried again.

“Van.”

A convenient coincidence. You hadn’t met him yet, but you knew Van. You were on your way to a meeting to lay out the plan for their tour. Their usual tour manager, Mike, wasn’t available. You were handed Catfish and the Bottlemen, and the opportunity to prove you could run a really fucking successful string of shows.

"I know exactly where he is. Let’s go,” you told her standing up. She held up both hands, and you realised she wanted to be picked up. You complied and sat her on your hip. She cuddled into you. The kid was clearly used to strangers and you didn’t know if that was good or bad. “What’s your name, honey?”

“Dylan.”

It does feel like BLack want everything their way and they can shit on everone

hello, grey2, i get where you’re coming from. i do. well except for the last line, but yeah. i believe that in this day and age,  black people (& other POC) are allowed to be sensitive. im just trying to make other peoples tumblr experiences pleasant and if that involves me asking a black lady if i can reblog BHM posts than so be it.

Like im a white girl living in the suburbs, i understand my privilege & like i said before im trying to stay in my lane and didnt want to go into a lane im not supposed to be in. the same goes for posts about any other race/ culture/ ect.

im just bewildered about how big of a deal this has become.

For my future store

Would any of you guys buy a donut maze? It’s like a marble maze, but instead of a marble it’s a wood ball (that’s much larger than a marble) and instead of being a made it’s shaped like, as the name implies, a donut! The donut shape allows for steady stimming without the usual break in direction in a marble maze. I’d probably charge like, $6.50 for a maze, but they’d be in limited supply since I don’t have a sewing machine and do everything by hand. Also they’d probably be Halloween themed! But yeah, anyone interested?

Hi Fel!!! ><) just a quickie, it seems you're not pleased with people asking for copies of the stage play dvds, but what if I can't afford it but really want to see it? Altho, I do buy bromides or merch which my wallet will allow me to... I'm just a bit sad that some people (not you) with copies look badly of people like me who ask for copies :<

Hi Anon,

Yeah I’m not pleased at all everytime somebody asked me for copies of stage plays/DVDs/CDs or anything because I’ve never offered them in the first place. Especially strangers & anons. Who do you think they are to have right to ask for my copies? Hahaha. I do share them, but only to my close mutuals & friends. An anon did send an ask cursing and accusing me as a giant hypocryte because I always babble about copyright etc but I share copies with my friend. I have my reason for doing this and feel free to ask me if you want the explanation.
(If by any chance this anon is reading this, confront me with your real account, don’t be a chicken and hide behind the grey circle with shade, you coward. Be my guest, anytime.)

Well, if you can’t afford it, obviously there’s no way you can watch it.
It works the same with when you really wanna drive a car but you can’t afford it. What can you do about it? Save up to get it, obviously.
Or maybe you can wait for somebody kind enough who will upload or maybe sub the show and share it publicly. Or borrow it from your friend. I have lots of hobbies and limited money. And when I have no penny to afford what I want to watch/buy, I let it go. I don’t wanna force nor trouble myself, my wallet and worst, people around me. I know you want it so bad, but nobody can get everything they want unless they’re a billionaire.

Anyway, usually DMM.com offers paid streaming (which costs half of the DVD) but I’m not sure if this time they provide this service or not because I haven’t checked yet.. and I’m not sure if they accept international card but you can try to look for it there! (They accept paypal too btw)

Hahaha tbh so far I’ve never seen anybody who look down on people who can’t afford things because I’m sure they understand that not everybody can purchase expensive fangirlig materials. And people who buys never force anybody to do the same thing they did (spending a fortune on dvds). Nor look down on ppl who ask POLITELY.
I think most people just got the wrong idea because they didn’t get what they wanted a.k.a the copies and they became salty, that’s why they feel people who buys look down on them. And started calling them “elitist”.
But of course people who buy original copies will be upset if another ppl takes them for granted, like “WHEN WILL YOU UPLOAD YOUR DVD” “WHEN CAN I EXPECT ENG SUB”. Who likes it if a total stranger esp anon or blank tumblr being super demanding asking for a copy or worse, sub? Everybody will be upset, of course. Unless you’re a Goddess of kindness & patience.
Maybe next time before asking for copies, you can ask them whether they have a plan to share or not :>

Please dont turn this into a discourse blog. Just reblog stuff that you find agreeable and be an example. I just want to enjoy taz and my mental health cant take all the stress of every blog fighting about which taako I'm allowed to like without fear of judgement.

I actually don’t like getting into discussions like this too often, it does stress me out to a small degree, but people were sending me asks and I felt like it was important to talk about! This is not a discourse blog, but it is something of importance going on in the fandom right now and I felt the need to comment on it and try to gain insight from other people. (Also, not to sound snarky or anything, but it’s my blog and I can do what I want with it??? Yeah, I want this to be a fun and inclusive space, but it is my blog that I personally run. You might not have meant it to sound that way, but what you said comes off as a “just sit down and shut up” kind of thing, and I’m not okay with that.)
I sympathize with just wanting to enjoy stuff and have fun with it. I do. I don’t want to “fight” either. But I don’t consider discussing important issues in a calm and mature manner to be “fighting” nor do I think it should prevent people from enjoying it. If it does stress you out, I am sorry. In my mind the goal of all of this is to make something that ALL of us can enjoy. If anything I hope you all can rest easy in that I will do my best to not post anything overly inflammatory, argumentative, mean, etc. Since I have control over my own blog space, if there is any discussion happening it will be calm and rational with a goal of listening to and learning from each other.

You know, I've noticed that too. Fans will either say "Tom isn't gay!" or don't address him at all and rage about Marco. When it comes to Tomco, Tom's sexuality is rarely talked about and even when it is the fandom swears he's straight. And I'm like "No, he's not. He's not gay, he's not bi. He's pansexual. We literally have conformation of this." I mean, those colors on his ice cream can NOT be a coincidence. Daron knew what she was doing. XD -Bunny Anon

I suppose more people direct to Marco because of Sta//rco, and well…..you know that part of the fandom can be pretty extreme depending on the people there.

The Crew and show can’t and aren’t allowed to really reveal sexualities of the characters, so you have to kinda make assumptions of your own based upon the characters interactions with others.

With Tom, yeah, he’s clearly into girls. But that doesn’t forbid him from having attraction to any other character on the show that isn’t cis/female.

Look, I know the Ice Cream is far-fetched, but all i have to say is this:

If this isn’t meant to be a hint, then explain why…

A. It resembles the pan flag down the exact colors and the exact order of colors. (Like, even if they wanted these colors, they didn’t have to put them in this exact order)

B. If it’s meant to mean nothing, then why couldn’t the crew make it chocolate or vanilla? I’ve never seen an icecream flavor like that before, why not make it something more identifiable?

“It’s not an icecream cone, it’s shaved ice!!”

No, it’s clearly ice cream, because Tom is eating it from a edible CONE. Shaved ice is literally ice, who eats that on a waffle cone???!! You’d make it all gross and soggy.

Cartoons have subtle hints, and i wouldn’t be surprised if this was the crew’s way of giving Tom a canon sexuality without actually saying.

Not sure if Tom being hinted as pan was resulted from Tomco and/or the crew’s knowledge of the trans Marco theory, but that’s also a possibility.
