Anywhoozle! Holy smokes…I’m still like…blown away by that number??? Back in November 2015 I never dreamed I’d hit twenty followers with my marshmallow’s blog, let alone two HUNDRED? Like…where did you all come from, my goodness!

But! You’re not here to hear me talk about that - we’re here with a bias list! In other words, I’m going to ramble about my favorite nerds that have stuck around this blog, whether old or new, that Ryū and I have come to love. Without further adieu…let’s get started! <3

I’ve read quite a bit of KageHina fic in my albeit short time in fandom so I decided to compile a list of fic. Most are fics that most people don’t talk about often and maybe haven’t read (as well as the BIG ones) Onwards to fic!

I dream of you often. Sometimes, you were just holding a volleyball on the court, and other times you were just asleep on the hospital bed. In both dreams, you were alone yet you were smiling, and I would always wake up crying.

Hurt by someonestolemyshoes | g | 26,715

It’s alarming, Kageyama thinks, how quickly things can go downhill.

One minute Hinata is fine, at the top of his game, spiking left and right and everywhere in between and the next he is crumpled in a limp, lifeless heap on the gym floor and the resounding crack of his head hitting the wood is still echoing in Kageyama’s ears.

“He was aware of the itch he’d feel before he shook his head or scrunched his nose. He recognized the impulse to move, but he didn’t realize how compulsive the behaviors had become. He had to shake his head. He had to scrunch his nose. He had to shrug his shoulders over, and over, and over.

It wasn’t until he was nine-years-old that Shouyou realized he couldn’t control his movements like other kids could.”

The Sum of Its Parts by anonymouschupacabra (accordingtomyresearch) | e | 140,949

Tanaka unfortunately had somewhat figured out Kageyama’s status with Hinata the baker, or more over, lack of one, months ago. All because of a broken coffee machine, Kageyama found himself walking toward SunFlour bakery with Tanaka hoping that today he could keep his face in check; no such luck was found. One word from Hinata, and Kageyama was a bumbling mess, red from cheek to ear, stumbling through his words and unable to maintain eye contact with him. Tanaka had figured it out almost immediately.

Kageyama was pretty sure he knew what love was, and he was pretty sure that the things Oikawa did to him weren’t love. They felt more like sabotage. But despite Oikawa’s best attempts, Karasuno defeats Shiratorizawa. The team celebrates, and Kageyama realizes that Hinata’s kisses taste more like victory.

“Hey, Kageyama?” Hinata’s gone still. His head thumps against Kageyama’s back, just between his shoulder blades, and rolls until his cheek is pressed against his shoulder. Hinata draws his knees to his chest and jostles Kageyama in the process. Kageyama feels his breath snag and hang on an impatient breath.

He exhales and Kageyama’s attention is stolen immediately by its unsteadiness. “What do you think happens when you die?”

Crowchildren by crypsis | t | 58,683

Kageyama is a crowchild, tasked with carrying the souls of the dead to their final resting place. The first time he meets Hinata is when the boy is on his deathbed. It seems like an ordinary encounter, though Hinata proves that he is anything but, sending them both on a journey of life, death, friendship, and love.

Hinata Shouyou is Not Smart by someonestolemyshoes | g | 3,950

“Remember that time,“ Hinata begins, tucked deep in his chair with his hands folded over his groin, disdain dripping from every word, “you dared me to ride my bike down the stairs?”

Kageyama grits his teeth. It’s late - too late to argue, a big, pearly moon hanging from the clouds beyond the widows. Hinata shuffles in the hard plastic seat, slips a pained, muffled groan past his lips and settles still. Somewhere down the hall, machinery beeps, whirrs, hisses air and the smell that circulates is a mix of bleach and sweat and something that Kageyama doesn’t even want to put a name to.

“For the last time,” Kageyama says, “I didn’t dare you to do it. You bet me you could, and I said ‘dumbass, don’t ride your bike down the stairs,’ and you said ‘don’t tell me what to do,’ and then you rode your bike down the stairs. And here we are.”

Count by someonestolemyshoes g | 5,000

Kageyama’s first kiss was with a volleyball.

He was six, and the smooth, cool leather stung where it smacked to his mouth. It tasted like dirt, like dust and gym shoes and a little bit like sweat, too, and it stole the breath from his lungs and took his two front teeth away with it.

It…probably doesn’t count as a kiss, honestly, because balls don’t even have lips to kiss with, but it made him fall in love with volleyball the way real kisses make boys fall in love with girls on the playground, so Kageyama thinks it’s probably good enough.

It didn’t matter that it hurt - that it bled, bust his nose and ripped his gums and stained his mouth in red and blue and purple - what mattered was that it was his first kiss, his best kiss, and nothing was ever, ever going to change that.

His second kiss is with Hinata.

“Oh, Tobio,” Hinata lilts, hushed, leaning up to whisper against the shell of his ear, “Are you worried about them? Or are you worried about you?”

“You look,” Kageyama starts, and his face burns red - really, really red, tomato red, so red Hinata thinks something might actually be wrong with him - and then he coughs, and he chokes, and he rubs the back of his hand over his mouth. When he speaks again, his words are all muffled and rolled into one big ball on his tongue.

“You look incredible. Can you keep the stockings on?”

“Kageyama,” says Hinata, matter-of-factly, his eyes still wide with realization, “I just noticed, but – when it comes down to it, aren’t you just a, uh, what’s it called?” His face scrunches up in thought. Tsukishima looks radiant, almost as if unable to contain himself but somehow managing it. Hinata’s face breaks into a smile, then, something so bright and combustible that Kageyama almost brings his hand up to cover his eyes. “Ah-ha! I know! A control freak!”

Unwilling to believe, Hinata turned his head just ever so slightly to get a better look at the man standing at the trash receptacle. His dark hair hung slightly in front of his eyes as he concentrated on tossing what was left from his food into the compost bin. Dropping his tray with a clatter on the counter, Hinata felt his throat begin to close in panic.

How? Here? Why would this be happening now? I don’t understand? How is this possible?

Tanaka unfortunately had somewhat figured out Kageyama’s status with Hinata the baker, or more over, lack of one, months ago. All because of a broken coffee machine, Kageyama found himself walking toward SunFlour bakery with Tanaka hoping that today he could keep his face in check; no such luck was found. One word from Hinata, and Kageyama was a bumbling mess, red from cheek to ear, stumbling through his words and unable to maintain eye contact with him. Tanaka had figured it out almost immediately.

Hinata and Kageyama go to different high schools and meet again in Okinawa for the first time since middle school.

“Toss for me!”

The boy is grinning, already leading the way onto the court, walking backwards. Unthinkingly, Kageyama starts to follow him, then stops, annoyed at himself.

“I don’t even know your name,” he says.

“Hinata Shouyou.” Hinata steps to the right side of the net and waits.

'This was how Shouyou, prince of the kingdom on the hill, ended up sitting on the wooden floor in front of the fire, roasting all the different kinds of meats in the crackling flames to eat. When he was done, he flopped over backwards, sprawling over the floor.

Kageyama was watching him again. Shouyou rolled lazily onto his stomach and rested his head on his arm, smiling at him.

“That was good,” he said. The food had been delicious. Watching Kageyama eat had been more so; the way his throat worked to swallow as he drank down the creamy, white milk, his white teeth as they sank into the succulent, tender meat, the little groans and sighs of pleasure he made as he tasted it. It had all made Shouyou so very, very hungry for more.’

“I got offers from two universities,” Kageyama announces, pointing at his chest with his thumb. “I’m going to play volleyball at Keio this spring.”

“You still have to pass an exam, even if it’s an easy one,” Takeda-sensei hurries to add, although he is beaming and bursting with pride at his fluffy little crow chick taking off to play volleyball at a university level.

“I’ll pass,” Kageyama says with the same kind of confidence he uses when he tells Hinata he’ll get the toss to him. He looks straight at Hinata, and Hinata jerks and turns red, wondering if maybe Kageyama knew he was daydreaming about something as stupid as the way Kageyama talks to him during a game. So… This post appeared on my dash and then this happened:

Real Puppy Love

[Affectionately titled as such because I couldn’t think of anything better on the spot.]

Two minutes.

Maybe three.

Three minutes is all it took.

And now here is, walking up and down the bloody street, looking and shouting, “SHADOW!” as loudly as he can, because his stupid dog is still young enough to hop the fence around the backyard despite being old enough to know better. He’s not even been back home 24 hours, and Shadow is already acting like the spoiled, puppy at heart, that he is.

He’s just climbed into his car, is about to push the key into the ignition when his phone goes off in his pocket. His heart jumps into his throat when he thinks about having to tell his da that he lost The Shadow again; he remembers the first time Shadow had run off, remembers being 14 years old and scared out his mind that Bobby would cuss him out. Bobby hadn’t cussed him out at all, in actuality. He’d simply said that “dogs will be dogs”, ruffled Niall’s hair newly dyed hair, and then insisted on going out to look together. They’d spent hours searching all over town, using a picture of Niall’s mobile to show to strangers in hopes of somebody seeing Shadow, before finding him down by the creek behind the house.

He fishes his phone out of his pocket – and he’s not sure what surprises him more: the message lighting up his screen, which is a picture of Shadow sitting on a step in an in-ground pool, or the name of the person who has sent him the message.

Harry Styles.

It’s a name he hasn’t heard in ages, and it belongs to a person he hasn’t seen, or even spoken to, in…well, even longer. And it might not be his father checking in on him as though he isn’t a 22 year old man that just graduated university three days ago, but his heart stays firmly planted in his throat all the same.

She waits until her mother’s attention is on the next group of guests before dropping Bellamy’s hand like it’s made of fire. Bellamy glances at her, surprised, and she manages a weak smile before looking away. It’s too hard to look at him like this. Handsome in his black and white suit. Curls messy and mussed like he barely managed to run a comb through them. All night, they’ve been sharing looks and swallowing smiles. And it hurts how simple it is for Clarke to slip back into easy affection with Bellamy.

But this isn’t what they are anymore. Clarke lost this three months ago and when she goes home alone, the fresh memory of Bellamy’s thumb rubbing her knuckles and his laugh muffled against her hair will only make everything that much harder. Old patterns are too easy to fall into and Clarke’s unravelling at the paradox of something being so easy and so hard at the same time.

She takes a sip of her drink and tries to remember why she thought this was a good idea. Why she thought she could bring Bellamy to her mother’s wedding and not fall apart.

She’d asked Bellamy if he’d come after her mother called two weeks ago. Clarke hadn’t told Abby that she and Bellamy broke up three months ago. She knew her mother would take the omission as a sign that she’d been right about Bellamy all along.

It was no secret that Abby disapproved when Clarke started dating Bellamy. Her mother didn’t think he was good for Clarke. They’d had countless fights before her mom finally backed off. And, now, admitting that they broke up would feel like admitting that she’d made a mistake. But Clarke didn’t regret one second with Bellamy. The only thing she regretted was letting him walk away.

That’s what makes tonight is so hard. Because Clarke still loves Bellamy. She can’t stop loving Bellamy. He’s kind and smart and good. Too good for her. (Maybe that’s why they didn’t work out in the end.)

When she and Bellamy got together, it was with a bang.

Fireworks. The Fourth of July. Clarke pressed against the picnic blanket Bellamy brought for them to sit on. Raven throwing bits of watermelon at their heads and the two of them laughing into each other mouths. She’d felt like a teenager at twenty-four. Floating on hope and happiness. Heartbeat so loud it drowned out the firecrackers above. She’d felt so much joy that night she could have burst into brightness right along with them.

When she and Bellamy ended nearly a year later, it was with a whimper.

Clarke clutching the dish towel like she might be able to use it to clean up the mess they made of their hearts.

When it ended, there wasn’t yelling or crying or much of anything at all. It ended with the soft click of the door and an empty echo in Clarke’s empty apartment. It ended with regret and Clarke wishing she could take back those last words that pushed him too far.

Empty Promise

Hurling your booties to the floor as soon as you entered the house, you quickly stomped up the stairs, mind absolutely fuming.

Pulling off your dress before even reaching the bedroom, you let it slip to the ground, completely carless to where it landed.

Making a beeline straight for the restroom, you pulled off the rest of your undergarments, turning on the shower to the hottest temperature you could handle.

Stepping in, you faced the wall, letting the hot water rush down your back, needing the steam to sooth you as soon as possible.

Leaning your head back, you raised a hand to smooth out your hair before shifting so that the water could focus on your tense shoulders.

Feeling a small sob escape your lips, you leaned forwards to rest your forehead on the slick tile as the steam started to gather around.

Back hunched, you let the rest of your sobs rack through your body, fighting to finally be felt after weeks and weeks of pushing them away.

Sniffling, you absentmindedly went through the rest of your shower routine, sluggishly moving as you did.

Carefully stepping out as you finished, you firmly wrapped one of the towels around you body, shuffling over to stand in front of the mirror.

Wiping the fog off with one hand, you let the other brush back strands of hair that clung to parts of your face, finally capturing your broken demeanor.

Taking a shallow breath in, you preceded to open the door, allowing the steam to clear out from the bathroom.

Walking over to the closet, you started to pull out different shirts when suddenly you heard the front door slam downstairs.

Feeling anger bubble up again, you mentally beat yourself up for taking so long in the shower. You had planned to be asleep, if not at least just laying in bed, anything to avoid him for the rest of the night.

As his heavy footsteps neared closer and closer, you forced yourself to stay muted, rubbing a towel through your wet hair in front of the mirror.

Hey babe”

You saw a blonde head pass the doorframe followed by the sound of his phone being plugged into its charger.

Completely ignoring him, you flipped the towel to rest over the shower railing, hurriedly taking out your contacts.

Now shirtless, he stepped into the bathroom, quietly wrapping his arms around your waist.

Dropping his head to kiss the crook of your neck, you immediately brushed him off, stepping out to the carpet.

Whoa okay, what’s your deal?”

Carmilla: The Series: Episode 24: I DON’T WANT TO TALK ABOUT IT

Columnist’s Note: I want to apologize in advance for any inaccuracies in this review. I usually watch each episode multiple times so that I can catch all the details, but this episode, to put it lightly, is soul-crushing, so I watched it but twice, once the night it came out for my own notes, and once again for the finalization of this review.

The scene: Danny bursts into the room and, believing Carmilla to have escaped and Laura to be in mortal danger, brandishes a wooden stake and challenges Carmilla to a fight to the death. It’s kind of epic.

I'm getting started early with prompts, but you knew this was coming. Klaroweek prompt: something with dragons. I don’t care what, but dragons need to be involved.

There is a tiny dragon but its also kittens because Kittens+Dragons just equals you! :)

Klaus had required only one thing for enduring Rebekah’s Halloween party and that had been having decent costumes. If he had to be around countless people that he wasn’t ever in the mood to see nor was allowed to eat he at least wanted to be able to not look like a complete and utter fool. Caroline had agreed to that and everything should have been fine, the costumes she had chosen for them easily meeting his criteria and Klaus hadn’t given it a single thought since she had shown him them in the middle of October.

And then she had gotten the damn kitten who apparently had to come with them and had to be in costume as well. He already despised the tiny little monster who was taking up more of her attention than he liked but now its presence had vetoed the costumes that he had approved and he was currently looking down at the kitten that Caroline had somehow wrangled into a dragon costume.

It meowed pitifully at him before trying to lick its covered leg and shook its head instead, no doubt attempting to remove the tiny little dragon hood that covered it. The thing wouldn’t budge and Klaus glared at it, not bothering to touch the costume that had been laid out for him beside it.

“It’s a viking costume, Klaus!” Caroline sighed from the doorway, rolling her eyes over the fact that he wasn’t even dressed yet.

“This was not what I approved the other week,” Klaus pointed out, trying to remember where he had seen the combination of the little black dragon and that particular costume before.

“Aren’t you of viking descent? Or like a viking or whatever? Like before the whole fangs and thousand years of terror part?” Caroline asked, working to fix her hair into a long braid.

He turned back to look at her, ready to comment when he took note of her costume, enjoying the skulls that decorated the leather skirt before he finally knew precisely where he had seen this combination before. “Tell me that you are not trying to dress me like a Disney character.”

Because that was something that would not be happening. Klaus Mikaelson did not do Disney. “I am not trying to dress you like a Disney character. I promise,” Caroline told him and moved toward him so she could press a soft kiss to his cheek.

She scooped up the kitten before Klaus had time to wrap his arms around her to return the favor. “But isn’t he the cutest little fiercest dragon ever?” She held the annoying creature out for him to see and the thing gave off another piteous meow. “Now get dressed. We’re already running late and the sooner we get there the sooner we can leave and you can help me get out of this outfit for our own Halloween fun.”

“Or we could bypass the party completely and start our own fun now.” There was no way that would fly with Caroline but he’d never stop trying for it every time they had an activity to go to. Especially ones that involved his siblings and their current lovers or any of her Mystic Falls friends.

Caroline simply arched a brow and walked out of the room with the kitten in tow and Klaus resigned himself to a few hours of annoyance as he dressed. Perhaps he could eat one of the servers while no one was looking. And once they were home Klaus would definitely be putting the kitten out of the room so that he could finally enjoy the night with Caroline.

They arrived fashionably late to the party and Klaus shook his head as everyone cooed over the damn little ‘dragon’ in Caroline’s arms. He was more than ready to head further inside and find something to drink when Kol slid into place beside him. His brother looked entirely too pleased with himself and Klaus wanted nothing more than to ignore him until he finally had some alcohol.

“I can’t believe how whipped you are that she talked you into dressing like characters from a children’s movie,” Kol commented and Klaus narrowed his eyes. He KNEW he had seen this damn outfit before, the combination with Caroline’s and the little black dragon one that he should have known.

“Caroline,” Klaus hissed, tugging her to the side and the little kitten hissed right on back at him, tiny paw batting at his hand.

“It’s not Disney,” Caroline told him, clearly already knowing what his problem was. “It’s Dreamworks. There’s a difference.”

His eyes narrowed further and he was ready to go into an entire tirade about how it was a children’s movie and that was the whole damn point but she did that whole biting her bottom lip as she looked at him through her lashes. “I’ll make it up to you later.”

“Oh, sweetheart, you better believe that you will be,” Klaus replied with a smirk as he thought of all the ways she would be making it up to him later on in their bedroom. “Starting with a kitten free bedroom.”

She opened her mouth to protest but quickly closed it when Damon yelled out a sarcastic, “Nice costume, Klaus!”

“Deal,” Caroline told him, placing the tiny kitten into his arms before he could head after the annoying vampire to rip out his spine. “But we need to stick together for photo opportunities all night and you need to hold him because technically Toothless is your dragon, not mine if we’re true to the movie. Oh! Let me get your sister.”

She was gone before Klaus could get a word and Klaus stared at the spot Caroline had been before looking down at the dragon in his arms. At least the tiny thing looked about as miserable as he felt in that moment.

“Look how big he’s getting!” cooed Elena as she headed toward the two of them, reaching out to touch the kitten.

It hissed at her and batted at her hand, tiny claws out and cutting her skin. “That wasn’t very nice,” Elena tsked the dragon and Klaus shifted it closer to his body.

“Can’t fault him for having standards,” Klaus replied with a nasty grin, thankful when the doppelganger stepped back, fear coming off of her in waves as she seemed to realize that he was the one holding the kitten. “Run along and I’m sure you’ll find something that doesn’t despise your presence.”

The ‘dragon’ bared his teeth at her and Klaus rubbed a finger along the kitten’s head, amused as Elena headed off muttering about ‘how he corrupted everything’. “Let’s go see who else you can show your ferociousness at,” Klaus told the ‘dragon’, quite amused by the kitten’s dislike of most of the others in the house. Perhaps the thing wasn’t as horrible to have around as he’d first thought.

Keep Your Place

Boys will be boys, and he’s only mean to you because he likes you. Don’t get mad when he catcalls you; don’t you know how to take a compliment? A girl who looks like you should take what she can get. And a girl who looks like that? Well, she’s only getting what she’s asking for. Let me show you how to dress so you don’t look like her. Surely you weren’t planning on actually leaving the house wearing that. Cover your shoulders, darling, that’s far too much skin you’re showing. Your skirt is way too short; why don’t you go put on a nice pair of pants? Oh, wait, not those ones. They’re too tight. No, not that shirt either - too low cut. You’re just asking for it leaving the house like that. But…hold on a minute…jeans and a t-shirt? Girls are supposed to be hot, not look like they just rolled out of bed. Surely you can do better than that. Spice it up a little, honey. You’ll never get a guy looking like that. Oh, here, let me show you how to wear your makeup - how to make yourself beautiful.

Everyone wants a girl who looks like a doll, but no one wants a girl who wears enough makeup to actually look like a perfect porcelain angel. You have to look natural, but never makeup-less. Oh, and don’t forget to style your hair; they can’t see you with even a strand out of place. Wait. Hang on. Is that a new haircut I see? Why so short? God, you’re not gay, are you? Are you trying to get mistaken for a boy? Grow it out. You’re not feminine enough. No boy wants a girl who’s that masculine. Speaking of which, shouldn’t you have a boyfriend by now? If you’re not careful, you’ll end up alone. You don’t want that, do you? Okay, no, stop. I take it back. Now you just look desperate. Everyone knows he has to hit on you first. Don’t you know anything?

Hey now, hold up there, young lady! Just where do you think you’re going so late at night? Go out alone like that and we might never see you again. Haven’t you learned by now that you’re just not safe on your own once the sun goes down? There’s pepper spray hooked on your keyring for a reason. Oh, you’re going to a party? Make sure you never let your drink out of your sight, or it might end up being the last one you ever have. But surely not every guy is like that, right? Surely you won’t be the girl who becomes just another unsolved case - a file shoved into the bottom of a drawer somewhere. Surely you couldn’t possibly be that unlucky. But don’t people say the same thing in a game of Russian Roulette? You don’t call the shots, love, and if you don’t follow these rules, the world might just chew you up and spit you out. You might end up being just another girl who couldn’t learn to stay in line and keep her place.
