Hesitant Kiss for SW/Quinn :3

I know I keep asking for prompts and then take a fucking age to write any kind of response I’m sorryyyyy

( send me more prompts anyway they are my lifeblood

Anyway, this takes place riiiight after Taris. Is it first kiss time? OH YES.

The whole thing had started simply enough. An effort to work off some of the boredom that was starting to seep in as they took the long journey from Taris to Hoth - Hoth, of all the kriffing places in the galaxy, why did it have to be that particular frozen shithole - saw her inviting Jaesa to practice her lightsaber technique. Nothing out of the ordinary for a master and an apprentice traveling literally across the galaxy together.

Don’t hold back, she’d told her apprentice. Act as though I am a real opponent out for your life.

Anyone else think RebelCaptain would make a beautiful Aladdin AU? Cassian as Aladdin, Jyn as Jasmine, Krennic as Jafar…

I’m definitely not thinking this because K-2SO would make the world’s most perfect Abu

i love angel aura quartz with my whole entire being and if i wasn’t sure i’d never use her for anything ever i’d keep her but… off she goes. maybe I’ll recycle her jacket design

B) Wishes

Derek closes his eyes shut tight, and makes a wish before blowing out his candles.

“What did you wish for Dere Bear?” his mom asks as she cuts the cake.

“New ice skates,” Derek replies before digging into his slice. His moms share a smile - that’s exactly what that got his as a present, and they’re glad they can make his wishes come true.

“Billy, what are you doing?” William’s dad calls from the back doorway. William jumps up from where he was sitting under the tree in the garden.

“Nothing!” he yells back quickly.

“Well get busy! Your uncle needs help with the lobsters, go do that!” his dad replies, before going back inside.

William sighs, and throws away the dandelion he’d been wishing on. He should have known wishing that he wouldn’t have to help with the lobsters wouldn’t work.

“Starlight, star bright, first star I see tonight, I wish I may, I wish I might, have the wish I wish tonight” Nursey whispers. He closes his eyes, and makes a quick wish for his lecturer to like his poem tomorrow.

Nursey opens his eyes to see Dex looking at him disbelievingly.

"What?” he asks defensively.

“You don’t actually make wishes, do you? And, like, believe that’ll work?” Dex asks.

“Of course I do!” Nursey replies as he starts walking back to his dorm again. “Everyone does.”

“Not everyone.” Dex snaps from behind him.

“Of course not,” Nursey snaps back “I forgot, some people don’t believe in nice things”

“Don’t be stupid Nurse.” Dex says “Wishes don’t work. You don’t get things by making wishes on stars, or candles, or flowers, or eyelashes. That dumb little rhyme isn’t going to get you anything!”

“Woah, Dex, chill,” Nursey says, trying to placate his friend. “Its just a wish.”

Dex took a few deep breaths to try calm himself.

“Wishes don’t work Nurse.” Dex said bitterly after a pause “You can’t wish for what you want you know. You have to work for it.”

Nursey stares at him in shock for a moment. As he stares, Dex begins to look more and more uncomfortable. Nursey wants to say something, but he doesn’t know what to say.

“I-Dex? Do you really not make any wishes?” Nursey asks, once he realizes how long they’ve just been standing there. He just can’t process this, its so sad to think none of Dex’s wishes came ever true.

“No.” Dex answers, and if Nursey didn’t know better he’d think he sounded sulky. “Wishes never work, so why bother?” he says with a shrug, like he doesn’t care.

“Wishes can come true.”. Nursey tries.

“Oh yeah? How? Magic?” Dex sneers.

“Well…..yeah!” Nursey says. He doesn’t know what else to say. He’s always believed in magic and wishes. But obviously Dex hasn’t.

“Yeah right” Dex says, rolling his eyes at Nursey.

“Right. And I’ll prove it to you.” Nursey promises.

"Good luck with that” Dex says sarcastically, before turning and heading to his dorm.

Nursey nearly thanks him. He’s going to need all the good luck he can get to prove wishes come true.

*

“I sure WISH I had some pie.” Nursey says loudly as he, Chowder, and Dex enter the kitchen.

“That doesn’t count Nurse.” Dex says, “There’s always pie here.”

Nursey sighs. He’s been trying to prove Dex wrong all week, and it hasn’t been working.

“Okay, but I still wish I was eating some pie right now.” Nursey says. Bitty appears by his side with a slice, and he smiles gratefully.

"Why are you rubbing your eye?”

Nursey looked up from where he was tying his shoes to see Dex rubbing at his left eye.

“There’s something in it, and it f*cking hurts.” Dex grumbles, as he rubs at his eye and tries to pack up his gear at the same time.

“Lemme look.” Nursey offers, pulling Dex’s hand away from his face. Dex scowled at him, but there was no anger to it.

“Its an eyelash,” Nursey says, “Blink a few times, it should fall out.”

“Like I didn’t think of that.” Dex says, but blinks rapidly. It falls onto his cheek, and Nursey reaches out to brush it off quickly. He stops with his finger on Dex’s cheek. Dex stares at him, and Nursey feels like the rest of the team, the rest of the world, isn’t there.

“You know, some people make wishes on eyelashes.” Nursey whispers.

“Yeah?” Dex breathes. Nursey nods.

“You gonna make one?” Dex asks him quietly. Nursey closes his eyes to make a quick wish, but barely wishes it before he opens his eyes again to look at Dex.

When he opens them again, Dex is sitting a lot closer.

“Did you a wish?” Dex whispers. Nursey nods.

“Do you think it will come true?” Dex asks him. Nursey nods again.

Dex kisses him quickly, before pulling away with a smile on his face.

“But, it was your eyelash,” Nursey points out. Dex raises one eyebrow at him, confused.

“And?”

“You should make a wish.” Nursey explains “Its your eyelash to wish on”

“It’s okay.” Dex says, before kissing him again. “I don’t need to wish for anything. As long as I have you.” he says hesitantly, as though he’s not sure he has.

“I don’t think either of us need to make wishes anymore so”. Nursey says, before kissing Dex again.

Alpha Sitting

So here’s my gift for @weebwritings for the usuk summer festival! Sorry it’s a little late, my laptop completely broke down :/ Anyway, I hope you like it!

“Arthur, do you remember that alpha who used to live next to me when we were children?” Francis asked, leaning back in the chair he was sitting in and crossing his legs, eyes glancing across the stack of papers he was holding. It had been a slow day in the library so far, not many people wanting to come in while the weather was so nice, and the beta’s boredom-induced attempts at conversation were beginning to get on Arthur’s nerves.

“You’re supposed to remain quiet in a library, you idiot,” Arthur grumbled, pulling another stack of books from the drop box and beginning to silently check them back in, “How have you not gotten that concept by now?”

Nothing More Than a Fairy Tale

Word count: ~700
Rating: G
Summary: The story of how Killian and Emma met is not a simple one.

When asked how he met their grandmother, Killian Jones would tell his grandchildren that he fell in love on a beanstalk in the Enchanted Forest. They’d giggle and laugh as he told them the tale before insisting on hearing the real story - one that didn’t involve curses and magic and impossible things. He’d whisper the story of how he fell in love with Emma Swan as she jumped into the ocean from aboard a pirate ship on the outskirts of Neverland. He’d tell them he fell in love with her when she rescued him from the Underworld. He fell in love, he’d say, as her bright yellow bug drove over the town line and the thunderous purple clouds of a curse rolled over him. He fell in love, he’d say, when he knocked on her door in New York City and the woman of his dreams opened it - his grandchildren tended to believe that one. He’d tell them he fell in love when she drank a potion with the power to return lost memories. He fell in love when she told him she’d stay. He fell in love when she kissed him the first time. She fell in love, he’d tell his grandchildren, when she kissed him for the second time. He fell in love with her every time she smiled.

His children and grandchildren believed the fairy tales when they were young. Though as they aged, one by one the belief was gone from all of their eyes save Henry - his boy (who was no longer a boy) who believed with everything he had. And as Killian grew older and Emma was no longer there to remind him, even his belief began to waver and he found himself questioning his memories. There were days, towards the end, when Henry would read Killian’s stories to him. And it was near the end that he couldn’t tell if forgotten curses and Neverland, pirates and princesses, and shepherds and bandits were real or nothing more than stories.

On his worst days, when Killian remembered nothing - not even himself, Henry would sit beside his bed well into the night to read him his favorite story - the one that started with a beanstalk.

But how, Killian would ask when Henry’s voice had long gone dry, how does it end?

I don’t know, Henry would say each time with a sad sort of smile, It’s not over yet.

On the rare days when Killian believed in fairy tales, he wondered if Neverland’s damage was permanent, if his aging had slowed so much that he’d outlive everyone he loved - yet again. Then he’d catch a glance of himself in the mirror, grey haired and lined with wrinkles from days long ago spent in the sun and he’d laugh at the thought of a land where boy and pirate alike never grew up.

And when he wakes one night on a rocky outcrop in a cavern, he thinks that perhaps he’s been here before. His memories have grown so old and crusted over with age that even now, standing alone on an island between life and death, he still can’t be sure what is real. He takes one step forward then another, and the rocky ledge shifts to accommodate him. Each step he takes forward is just a little bit easier and he feels just a little bit younger. By the time he reaches the opposite edge of the cavern he feels so, so young.

When he goes as far as the cavern will allow, it opens up wide and bright and he’s blinded for a long moment. The hard rock beneath his feet is gone and there’s plush grass in its place. The unforgiving heat of the cave is replaced with a gentle summer breeze and Killian inhales deeply, smelling the salty brine of the sea. He blinks furiously and holds his hand up to shade his eyes from the sun. Birds are chirping off in the distance and he steps further into the grassy meadow. The sky is almost impossibly bright and blue overhead and there is the peaceful sound of waves crashing onto a distant shore. The heat of the sun is pleasantly warm and he shucks off his coat, dropping it onto the grass behind him. For a moment Killian isn’t sure where to go, then he smiles.

There, in the distance is a beanstalk.

Scattered In the Heights thoughts:

  • Somebody who actually knows hip-hop (/rap?) should tell me if LMM writes in a truly distinctive way, if it was normal for me from the very first song to be like, yup, LMM wrote this, or if that’s just how all hip-hop is and it just happens that my only exposure to hip-hop(/rap) is Hamilton. (And yes, I deliberately went into this with almost zero knowledge of the show. I’d listened to about two minutes of it, tops, before seeing it.)
  • LMM named the love interest after his wife, before she was his wife.
  • THE DANCING.
  • During intermission, a stage manager actually comes on to PUT TRASH ON THE STAGE. AND THEN THE ACTORS PICK IT ALL UP DURING ACT TWO. WHAT KIND OF TWILIGHT ZONE.
