i would watch a show with only these two

13 Reasons Why characters

Justin Foley: Massive dickhead. Barely redeemable. He has a tragic backstory and a shitty childhood. However, he’s a massive douche, who let a girl get raped and lied to her, he was willing to kill a guy to save his own back and only right near the end did he decide to admit he was in the wrong and even then we don’t see him do anything to actually help the situation. This guy needs some emotional help and needs to start being a much better person and only then would he ever be anywhere near redeemable.

Jessica Davis: At first I hated her for refusing to listen to her friend but then I realized this is similar to most girl as we are taught to trust our boyfriends more than our friends which sucks. However, she still tried to be nice to Hannah shortly after and a bit of communication could have helped their situation so much. I feel like she’s well and truly suffered enough and didn’t deserve any of the shit that happened to her. Already redeemed.

Alex Standall: As much as guys dont want to admit it and girl would deny it, these lists happen so often its unreal. I’ve seen groups of girls and boys alike make lists ranking others. Its not okay at all but its something that happens so often that it just goes to show how something so simple can be so harmful towards someone. He hurt two girls with this list, Jessica and Hannah. I feel like he is redeemable as he shows the most guilt to the point its shown he’s considering his own suicide. He knows what he did was wrong even if it wasn’t as hefty as some of the other guys. He was redeemed as soon as he admitted what he did was wrong.

Tyler Down: I don’t get why everyone is up Justin’s ass but hate this kid. They both committed a similar crime. One is a pervy stalker and the other took what was an innocent mishap and made it into something filthy and then distributed it. I hate them both but they are incredibly similar except one is the lonely isolated loser with a camera who was bullied beforehand and the other a popular jock with a bad home life. As far as I’m concerned if one has the possibility to be redeemable then so does the other. I feel like Tyler needs some serious help, the kind that Hannah needed but never got. Except where Hannah killed herself, this guy is going to kill others. I can actually see some parallels between Hannah and Tyler, the only difference one is a creep and deserves at least a years sentence in prison. This kid really isn’t okay mentally and thats shown throughout the series, do I feel sorry for him? No. But, he would be redeemable if he got help and it turns out that he didn’t shoot Alex like many people are speculating. As far as I’m concerned, you cant love Justin and hate this guy as they both did similar crimes except one let his girlfriend get raped. Both are creepy assholes. Also, at least the kid told the parents and people about the fucking tapes and Hannah unlike the other assholes trying to cover it up.

Courtney Crimson: She annoyed the fuck out of me when she was defending Bryce and trying to call Hannah a liar when it was already established that these tapes are all true. However, after actually taking some consideration into her character I can understand why she was scared and thought what she was doing was right. Yes this is the 21st century and her parents were gay so she must have known she’d be accepted. But its not that simple, she’s probably seen her parents go through shit and heard them say that her parents homosexuality would rub off on her. If she came out she would give the homophobes what they wanted, evidence to back their claim. I don’t agree with her further spreading rumours and defending a rapist. But with some compassion I find her story more redeemable than some of the others. Her character showed just how spiteful females can be towards each other. I feel like if she would just tell the truth, she could have been a redeemable character.

Marcus Cole: I haven’t seen this guy mentioned despite the fact he’s so much worse than both Justin and Tyler. He literally assaulted a girl in broad daylight and got away with it. And then when she dies he shows no remorse and even tries to stop the tapes from being distributed. He is one of the only two absolutely nonredeemable characters because he shows no remorse and only cares about his reputation. Whilst watching this I honestly got the feeling this guy has no compassion or emotions whatsoever and the only reason he didn’t agree with Justin wanting to hurt Clay is because he knew it could cause problems. He was only interested in calculating the best situations for himself and that makes him way worse because even at the end he didn’t think he did anything wrong.

Zach Dempsey: The ‘nice guy’ mixed in with the wrong crowd. He may actually be a kind and nice guy but his popularity made him feel entitled and when Hannah pushed him away he acted out in revenge. What would have been a petty revenge on its own took away some of a girls last bit of happiness. He obviously had his own problems and confidence issues and what he did wouldn’t have been so bad without the other things that happened.  He’s definitely a redeemable character.

Ryan Shaver: I don’t feel like he was focused on enough. He’s definitely a prick but he seems to be the only one to outright be like ‘yeah I’m an asshole’. He seems to be the kind to tell the truth and whilst still being a thoroughly unlikable character he does seem to want to do whats right. He know what Bryce did was wrong and he blatantly addresses the fact that Courtney is defending a rapist and is a rape apologist. I didn’t like him because of his lack of emotions however I did appreciate a character with a decent moral compass and I think hes redeemable but needs to take more interest in peoples lives outside of his stupid writing.

Clay Jensen: Actual sweetheart. Unfortunately, he didn’t see the signs but its shown throughout the series that he helped her feel both better and worse in some of these situations. However, he has nothing to be forgiven for as he technically did nothing wrong except not notice which he tries to make up for with Skye at the end.

Sheri: I guess she deserves to be forgiven when it comes to Hannah as she was just trying to be nice and after Clay is probably the nicest on this list. However, I feel like she let what others think help her to make decisions that aren’t as forgivable. However, she still deserves a chance at becoming a better person even if she does get put in prison for some time.

Bryce Walker: Let him burn. That’s all I have to say about this fucker, he is not redeemable at all. Kill it with fire. He has no reason for what he did other than being a giant jackass with money.

Mr. Trey Porter: Redeemable but a jackass. He’s one of those teachers that doesn’t actually give a shit about the students. The fact he told Hannah just to move on when shes been raped and is physically, verbally and sexually abused almost everyday is sickening and shows you just how good these anti-bullying campaigns actually are when teachers don’t even give a shit.

I know a few people do not like the show, however I think it was good because it showed plenty variations of mental health, abuse and bullying with out actually addressing them but still showing the consequences. We didn’t just get Hannah’s story we got all the others stories too and it shows how mental health and bullying really can cause a butterfly affect. This show may not have been perfect but it was accurate and important.

EDIT: When I measure how redeemable these characters are, I’m not saying what they did was okay. I’m measuring how forgivable they are or if they do deserve forgiveness at all. This is my opinion obviously, you’re allowed to think differently.

Class on BBC America

ok so if youre following me and haven’t watched class already, i wouldn’t blame you if you just looked away from the title lmao, i am quite forceful when it comes to this

ANYWAY, as most of you probably know already, the new series of doctor who premieres on bbc america tonight at 9/8c (if you’re in the small minority who doesn’t just download it illegally when it comes out in the uk), and that’s awesome!! but before you’re tempted to switch off your tv immediately and scream on social media - there is a new show starting straight after, and you should really watch it

class is a spin-off of doctor who set at coal hill school, with a torchwood-like premise in that there is a tear in space and time which attracts a bunch of aliens. the cast is HUGELY diverse - there’s a black girl who is super intelligent and skipped two school years, but is still vulnerable and cares deeply about her family (and calls out another character on his alien racist attitudes); a sikh boy who talks about his religion, and loses a leg in the first episode and has to get used to using a prosthetic, and a gay polish character who deals with homophobia, but that isn’t his entire character. the only two white males are in a gay relationship, and there are two interracial relationships as well.
THERE’S NOT A SINGLE STRAIGHT WHITE MALE IN THE MAIN CAST!!

also it’s not written by moffat if that helps - its written by YA author patrick ness who’s written stuff like a monster calls, more than this, the rest of us just live here, etc.

HOWEVER, at the moment, due to lack of advertising from the bbc, only being shown online and being given a shitty time slot when it actually was shown on bbc one, it is very low on viewing figures, and in danger of not being renewed for a second season. at the moment, the bbc haven’t made a decision, and it entirely depends on how well it does in america - so it’s crucial that you watch it!! even if you don’t want to actually watch the show, at least leave your tv on after dw, to boost the viewing figures. posting about in online, specifically twitter and instagram since those are the only ones the bbc care about, would also help a lot, and signing the petition for season two (that i can’t link right now as im on mobile)

(the characters i didn’t mention are brilliant as well - there’s a girl who seems like a typical hufflepuff at the start but then becomes probably the second most badass character in the show, gay alien prince who’s socially awkward and adorable but also super morally grey and pretty much a slave owner, and although he doesn’t think so he gets called out on it a lot, and an alien freedom-fighter physics teacher who has hilarious lines but also a really complex personality and backstory and gets a shit ton of character development. she’s my fave. i love her a lot.)

tl;dr: class is on bbc america tonight at 10/9c (after dw), its really good, watch it or it won’t get a second season and i’ll cry

135 !?

Prompt: ‘I always want to come home to you’ or alternatively, ‘part one of giving Harry a blowjob in front of his friends.’

I’ve taken this request from the drabble list from ages ago and made it into part one of this concept. I understand that this concept is not everyone’s cup of tea, you don’t have to read this by any means, just skip over it if it’s not for you. 😂 Thank you all for being so patient and I hope you like it. P.S. I don’t know yet when part two will be posted.

💕

[25] ‘Bout showing you off. [MATURE.]

Obviously she hadn’t just ended up sliding her lips up and down his cock for his friends to watch, without deciding beforehand she was going to slide her lips up and down his cock for his friends to watch.

Anyway, with that said, it’s late and she’s got to be up early tomorrow. And that would have been rough anyway but they’re only now stumbling through their front door. Harry’s head nearly spinning and she’s just shrieked thinking their coat hanger was a person.

‘You’re fuckin pissed.’ He laughs closing the door behind them.

‘Thought it was a person,’ she groans. ‘A very tall person.’

To be fair, sober isn’t what Harry is either.

She stumbles her way into the kitchen with the heels that are no longer helping anyone. She knows that if she drinks a bedtime tea now, tomorrow wont be so cruel. So she chucks her shoes off, each one flying off somewhere else as she climbs on top of their kitchen counter in search for chamomile.

‘Get the fuck down from there,’ he groans. ‘M’too sloshed to help you if you fall.’

‘If you hadn’t gone and put the bloody mugs on the highest fuckin shelf wouldn’t have to climb like a fuckin koala in my own home.’ She whines.

‘Get down from there.’ He grins. ‘M’being serious, know I don’t look like m’being serious because m’a bit drunk but m’serious. Come down from there.’

‘M’already regretting living with you.’ She knocks down several tea boxes as she finds the right one. ‘And we only just signed the papers!’ She slowly finds her way down from the countertop.

‘Coz of the mugs?’

‘Coz of the mugs.’ She agrees. She remembers the water, how she needs to boil water for tea. She was just thinking hard down at her mug trying to figure out why she couldn’t drink it yet and what could be missing.

‘Fuck!’ Harry yells from the foyer.

‘Ouch!’ She steps over her pointy heels getting to the kettle.

‘Thought you was a person!’ Harry groans loudly at their coat hanger.

‘I told you so!’ She calls to him as she flicks the kettle on

‘No, you’re not boiling water right now!’ Harry calls from where he is.

‘M’gonna be sick on the plane! M’gonna be the drunk lady that vomited on the plane. Tequila, scallops and prawns and god knows what else I ate tonight.’

‘Them chocolate strawberries.’ He pulls her away from the kitchen counter, switching off the kettle. She’s in no state of mind to handle hot water right now. But he opens the fridge to take out a much needed water bottle.

‘You let me eat those?’ She whines. She’s trying to lay off the sugar for the next week and a half. She knows nothing will come out of it, chocolate is a food group of hers but she’s interested in the experiment.

‘Three of those cookie sandwich type things too. The ones with the ice cream?’

‘Three!’ She groans.

‘Three.’ He answers.

‘And you didn’t want to remind me about—’

‘Have you seen yourself after three shots of—’

‘The worst,’ she huffs. ‘You’re the absolute worst. First the mugs and now the ice cream sandwiches with the chocolate strawberries.’ She groans. ‘And now m’gonna be sick on the plane.’

He just nods, agreeing but they really need to get upstairs to sleep. His feet are heavy, can barely carry himself let alone his girlfriend who’s stumbling just the same.

‘C’mon now, one at a time.’

‘Need my shoes.’ She wiggles out of his grasp. She doesn’t, she needs to sleep but she’s already managed out of his hold.

‘No you don’t, can’t have you breaking a foot in those when you can’t even walk without them.’

Harry doesn’t finish his sentence because he’s exchanged words for loud laughs as she slips on her heels, each on the wrong foot. ‘Stop laughing at me,’ she glares as he hunches over, his tummy aching from the laughs she’s causing him.

‘Leave ‘em, you’re gonna fall and break something.’ He pulls her up from the floor, holding her up by her arm. They manage the steps, a few at a time until they get to the end of the landing to their bedroom.

‘Drink.’ He hands her the uncapped water bottle. She takes large gulps before handing it back to him and demanding he do the same.

She gets her dress off after pulling down the straps. She turns to the long mirror to help her locate the clasp of her bra, there’s no way she’s finding it on her own in this state. This is her pajama every night anyway, just her underwear. She finds it silly not to take advantage of the weather when she’s here and not in London where she’s slept with two pairs of socks on more than once.

‘Meant what I said.’ He calls to her over the running water as she washes her face.

‘Bout what?’ He hears her as the water shuts off. She walks out of the bathroom with her body butter, handing it to him. ‘You say a lot of things.’ She grins. He takes it from her, patting the empty side of the bed next to him. She lays down as he hovers over her partially. She’s much too tired to do this herself and he likes doing it anyway.

‘Bout showing you off.’ He uncaps the scented body lotion that he’ll always associate with her.

It isn’t night time or bedtime if she isn’t rubbing lotion into her skin. One of Harry’s first memories was just this, the smell, the one she left on his sheets when they were still just ‘figuring it out.’ That smell, her smell eases his shoulders always.

He’s quite thorough in the way he works his hands across her body. She sighs, her eyelids heavy as he rubs the lotion over her. He works across her legs, laying each one down back on the bed gently after he’s finished. He leaves soft kisses by the inside her leg as she squirms slightly against the sheets. She squeals too as he kisses up her navel back to her chest.

She turns on her stomach so he can get the back of her too. ‘Showing me off?’ She asks herself, trying to understand it. ‘Hmm,’ She hums in understanding.

His hands travel over her back, he kisses the soft skin there before rolling his hands down over her bum. He’s got nice hands, big too, perfect for doing just this. And she likes his hands on her. And they like her body.

‘What does ‘hmm’ mean?’ He asks.

‘Nothing yet.’ She smiles. ‘Still thinking.’

He makes sure to get everywhere he can, rubs the body cream into the back of her hands and up to her fingertips too before kissing them softly.

‘There,’ he kisses her shoulder. ‘All done.’ He says screwing the cap back on and setting it back on the nightstand.

‘Spank me.’ She grins against her pillow.

‘Not tonight.’ He chuckles loudly. ‘Not when you’ve got to sit on a plane for hours tomorrow, m’not that mean.’

‘You are.’ She mutters.

‘How’s that?’

‘For not spanking me when m’asking nicely for it.’

‘Can’t hate me tomorrow then.’

‘I won’t,’ she shakes her head against the plush pillow. ‘Just for the chocolate strawberries and them cookie sandwiches. And the tequila, m’gonna really hate you for that.’

She shudders slightly but smiles when he’s got his lips trailing down the line of her back.

‘Put them back on,’ she mumbles. ‘Your rings.’

‘You’re really gonna hate me tomorrow.’ He reaches back over to nightstand where he’s left them before rubbing his hands over her with lotion.

‘I know.’

‘M’only giving you three.’ He says.

‘I know,’ she grins. ‘Because you’re mean.’

‘Two then?’

‘Stop.’ She whines. ‘We’ve already established that you’re the worst. What does a girlfriend have to do to get her boyfriend to spank her?’ She sighs.

Harry laughs as he props her up on her knees. He hooks his thumbs at the sides of her underwear, pulling them down the swell of her backside. ‘You know exactly what.’

‘Acting out.’ She replies.

‘Mmm.’

‘Was too drunk to remember to act out so you’d spank me when we got home.’ She bites over her bottom lip when he cups her bum, picking his mark.

She hears it long before she feels it. She exhales sharply when the sting sets in until she lets out a moan that maddens him. Her wobbly knees and his swat across her bum jolt her forward as her back arches into a picture he thinks about a lot.

‘Tell me.’

‘M’good.’ she breathes. ‘Again, do it again please.’

The silver of his rings are no longer cold against her blazing skin when they meet her backside for the second time. She’s got proper marks now, both cheeks red, some parts redder than others depending on where his rings landed.

Both of them will never get tired of this, the way her skin blossoms into a pink then into a red, the sting that aches but tingles perfectly and the sounds both of the actual spank and her moans and whimpers.

‘You’re good at this, told you that before haven’t I?’ She smirks attempting to move back slightly to get more of it. ‘Harder this time.’

‘Gonna remember you telling me this tomorrow right? When you’re whining about how it stings getting your jeans on?’

‘Won’t wear jeans then.’ She sturdies herself with her palms flat on the mattress, neck stretched back waiting.

He pulls her hair to one side, wrapping it around his hand pulling her head back slowly. ‘Remember this then, how you were asking for it.’ He whispers below her ear.

His hand comes down harder on the already red and sensitive skin. This one has her knees buckling and her moans are let out into the pillows when she falls to her stomach once her hands and knees fail her.

He lowers himself to hover slightly over her back, kissing down the line of it while rubbing his hand into the taut skin. He throws her panties to the floor knowing her skin would reject the idea of putting them back on. And he prefers this sight much more.

‘Good?’ He asks turning her to lay on her back to face him and she hums contently. ‘M’I gonna have to do this every time you ask me to rub lotion on you? Thought it was the only innocent thing we had going for us.’ He grins.

It had been. She was always too lazy to do it herself and he loved touching her. He’ll always do it before bedtime, likes he loves touching her and he likes the way the smell lingers on her and onto the sheets. That way, he’ll still get to keep some of her when she leaves.

‘Probably best we don’t mix the two then,’ she smiles turning herself onto her back. ‘Just needed something to look at until you come back home.’

He grins getting up from the bed to get himself ready for bed as well. She pulls forward the duvet on her side of the bed, tucks herself in, presses in the fluffy pillows to her liking.

‘M’about to sweat it out aren’t I?’ He unbuttons his dress shirt and however drunk or slightly tipsy he is, remembers to hang it in their closet. ‘Have to be patient and all that?’ He turns to her.

‘You’re used to it by now.’ She silences her phone after setting her alarm for tomorrow morning.

‘Hope you sleep through it.’ He grins, he really doesn’t want her to go.

He is in fact used to being patient now. He’s impatient by nature but he’s grown to become far more patient since meeting her. A lot of patience is needed in a relationship like theirs and it only works if there’s a great deal of it.

‘You’ll think about it though?’ He mumbles from the bathroom with his toothbrush in his mouth.

She has a been thinking, she’s thinking about it now. She’s giving it so much thought she’d forgotten to tell him that she’s thinking about it.

‘Hm?’ He reminds her hovering over her once he’s ready for sleep.

‘Told you I would.’ She presses her fingertips to his lips. ‘If you keep nagging won’t have time to think about it.’ Harry understands, nods before kissing her fingertips.

It’s late and their tummies are happily full from good food and tasty drinks. He brings her close to him, his hand drapes over her waist as he nuzzles himself into the space between her neck and her shoulder.

‘Where are you gonna put it?’ She asks. ‘Make it good, make sure it’s a place where you can start a proper collection in.’

‘A proper collection huh?’ He grins adjusting the pillow behind his head.

‘A proper collection. You’re quite the talent don’t you know…’

‘Mmm.’ He hums against her shoulder.

‘Can fell you blushing.’ She smiles.

‘Stop that.’ He whines.

She never misses an opportunity to celebrate and when they’d been out and about just this morning and he got the news she knew it was the perfect reason to go out and celebrate. (Even if it meant too much tequila and many chocolate covered strawberries.)

Like this color,’ she says holding up different paint samples to the light. ‘Isn’t as overwhelming as the other one. Could go well with the couch in the sitting room…’ She realizes only a minute after that she’s just been talking to herself in the middle of the store. ‘Harry? Where’s he gone now…has the attention span of a goldfish…’ She pulls out her phone just before she feels his hand at her back. ‘There you are, need your final say about this grey.’ She holds up the sample. ‘Why are you smiling that big…where did you go…your face has gone as bright as this yellow color…why—’

‘You’ve got to come back here in a few weeks, so best you be letting your job know now…February 26th…’

She thinks really hard, with all she’s got but comes up with nothing. ‘What’s on the 26th?’

‘Have I got to give you a hint?’ He grins. ‘Films…actors—’

‘The Oscars?’ She asks and he nods. ‘Wait!’ She nearly yells. She feels like quite the goldfish now. ‘Oh my god!’ She yells again.

‘Shhh—’

‘I told you!’ She nearly leaps onto him. ‘I told you didn’t I! Did I not?’ She laughs wrapping her arms around his neck. She can’t keep still in his hold as he wraps her legs around him. ‘Told you that you’d be nominated,’ she shakes her head. ‘When are you gonna start listening to me?’ She kisses him sweetly.

‘Didn’t think I would actually be nom—’

‘Start listening to your girlfriend then. Only been wrong twice before, ‘bout that restaurant on the west end and the sweet Irish lady losing the bakeoff.’ She grins widely before kissing him again and again.

‘Has it really only been twice?’ He wonders. Can’t be…he knows she’s usually right about most things but—

‘I’ll be there, promise. I’ll swim if I have to. M’an ok swimmer.’

‘You’re not.’

‘M’really not.’ She laughs.

But she’ll be there. She promises.

‘You’re funny.’ She sighs as he kisses below her ear. He doesn’t ever want to leave this bed. Getting out of this bed, their new bed in their new house will be terribly hard tomorrow.

‘Yeah?’ He asks sleepily.

‘Yeah, you were just nominated for a bloody oscar today and you’re blushing ‘bout being worthy of one.’

‘Suppose I am a bit funny then.’

‘Suppose you are.’

He rests his head contently at her shoulder, wrapping his arm around her waist. ‘You looked gorgeous tonight angel.’

‘At least one of us will remember tonight.’ She grins.

‘Like showing you off,’ he grins to himself but she feels it against her skin. ‘Love having you with me.’

‘Know you do, s’why you want this one thing so bad.’

‘Think you’d enjoy it love,’ he pulls her closer to him. ‘Always been a bit of a showoff.’

‘Am not.’ She pushes back against him on purpose and he groans playfully.

‘No? What about all the pictures and videos—’

‘Those were for you.’

‘This’ll be too. For my birthday.’

‘You want that to be your birthday present?’ She laughs.

‘Well I don’t want a paper weight.’

‘Who’s gonna gift you a paper weight, was gonna get you a blender.’

‘A blender?’

‘Yeah, I want a blender.’ She mutters.

‘How’s that my birthday gift then?’ He laughs.

‘You’d have a blender?’ She answers obviously.

‘Don’t need a blender.’

‘But you need me to suck you off in front of your friends?’ She grins.

‘S’more exciting than a blender.’

‘Do you know how many things you can make with a blender?’

She really does just like giving him a hard time. Because she’d be the biggest fibber if she’d said she didn’t want to be shown off once or twice before. Or that the idea, while sinful is alluring.

‘M’getting a fucking blender aren’t I?’ He mumbles against her shoulder.

‘There’s a slight difference between a blender and a blowjob in front of your friends…s’all m’saying.’

‘S’not like they’re strangers. You know all of them.’

He’s already told her that if she changes her mind that’d be perfectly fine too. And if she’ll agree to it they’ll talk about the details further. The where and how’s.

‘Know that.’

‘M’not sharing you. You won’t be sucking them off you’d be sucking me off and—’

‘Really?’ She asks sarcastically. ‘Don’t want to watch me suck them off as well?’ She scoffs. ‘Aren’t into that are you?’

‘Absolutely not.’

‘Mmm.’

‘Think you’d like the praise and being watched is all. Wouldn’t have brought it up if I thought it’d just be for my benefit only.’

He’s not wrong, she does like being praised, being told how good she’s being, how good she is. He’s just taken this all a few steps forward.

‘Just think about it yeah? If you say yes then we’ll discuss the details then and if you say no then that’ll be that.’

She’s curious. There’s plenty she doesn’t know and plenty of questions she has. Would his friends be ok with it as well? Where exactly would this take place? How would the opportunity even present itself? But she leaves those questions aside for now.

‘I’ll think about it on the plane, give you an answer by the time m’home.’ She says and he smiles against her skin.

She’s got a tight busy schedule, it might not look like his but it’s just as busy. She’s got a full time job that she takes home with her sometimes despite Harry’s rule about not taking work home with you.

But he managed to have her for the last four days to sign off on their new house and get started with the move and decorating. He can’t do it alone, won’t be their home if he would have. But they spent far less time picking out furniture and paint colors than doing other things. And just like that she’s got to go back to London tomorrow and they’re not any closer to agreeing on paint colors.

She has to leave early tomorrow and neither of them are ready. But used to the idea. She has to get back to work and so does he. He’s had her for the holidays and these few days now but it all seems minimal and awfully scattered.

‘You don’t have to leave tomorrow, right?’ He grins. ‘Can stay with me until Sunday? Or for another week…two if it isn’t much trouble.’

‘You’re almost done here.’ She assures. ‘Just two more weeks and m’all yours right?’ It’s his birthday soon and he’s made sure to take off some time for it.

‘What am I supposed to do about the paint colors then?’ He yawns.

‘Call me.’ She kisses his forehead.

‘At one in the morning your time?’

‘Even then.’

‘Remember that when you’re groaning at me for waking you up in the middle of the night to talk about paint.’

‘Remind me.’ She grins and so does he. Her body settles against his with a relaxed sigh as he kisses her shoulder gently. ‘M’so proud of you. And m’hoping you’re proud of you too.’ She whispers.

He pulls her in tightly, ‘thank you.’ he whispers.

‘Can’t believe I know someone as special as you are.’ She kisses his neck softly. ‘Can feel you blushing again.’ She grins.

‘Stop.’ He whines sleepily.

Harry doesn’t let her get up when her alarm clock rings at eight in the morning. He smothers her, pulls her underneath him, holds her tightly to him as he falls back asleep contently. She lets him, just a few more minutes she promises.

He groans when she tries to wiggle out twenty minutes later, ‘m’gonna miss my flight—c’mon love, I know it’s hard…’

‘Tell them I was feeling poorly so you had to stay…didn’t like the idea of leaving me in the state m’in.’ He mumbles.

‘Harry—’

‘Take the next one, this evening…just give me a few hours longer.’

‘Oh my god,’ she groans. ‘I can’t believe this.’ She says aloud but it’s just meant for her. She knew this would happen, that he’d be stubborn and she’d have no willpower to leave either. Because it just keeps getting harder. She should just stop booking flights in the morning because it never goes to plan.

‘Please.’ He whispers. ‘Please, just a few more hours. I’ll get you on the next one, promise.’

‘I’m—’

‘Won’t let you get in trouble, just need a few more hours with you. Not ready yet.’

She sees it in the way he’s holding onto her. How four days only are cruel and the thought of spending nights without holding onto her makes him hold on tighter. He panics sometimes, only for a minute when either of their alarms go off on a given morning. He gets used to having her, forgets about the limited time and then he really does feel like she’s being torn away from him. He’s not any good at them, at goodbyes.

‘Ok,’ she whispers. She sets her phone back on the nightstand, shutting it off as she lets him pull the duvet back over them.

The thing about delaying their goodbyes is that it doesn’t make it any easier. Delaying them doesn’t make them disappear, just puts them off until later. He knows this by now but will still beg her to stay until she really does have to leave.

It’s eleven now, the sun is bright and warm. Harry much prefers this, waking up late without an alarm and with her as the sun streams in. He sleeps the best when it’s warm and she’s here, he catches up on sleep when she’s sleeping beside him.

The assortment of teas are scattered on the floor and the kettle is left deserted from last night. He chuckles to himself as he picks them up and heats up the water. He looks back at the clock, they still have a few hours. She could use the sleep.

He makes the tea the way they both like it. Their house is coming together slowly, still echoey from the lack of furniture that needs to be delivered. But as Harry climbs the steps back up to their room, he feels like it’s theirs.

‘I let you get away with it again.’ She groans into her pillow when he places the mug on her bedside table. ‘M’I really that weak?’ She pushes her hair off her face as he gets back into the warm bed.

He nods pulling her on top of him, she might as well be or maybe he’s just skillfully persuasive. She rolls her eyes and he’s happy to see her pretty ones even then while she’s straddling him.

She falls into his chest, resting there because she’s not thinking about the missed flight anymore. He sighs contently, this is the most settled he’s felt in a while, with her resting against him as he plays mindlessly with the ends of her hair. The stillness of the morning and the comfortable silence fills the gaps between their steady breathing that have synced up.

His hands trail down south innocently at first before he’s got a silly grin on him as he cups his hand over her bare bum.

‘S’for the best, should heal a bit first.’ He grins into her neck. ‘Still sore right?’

‘Mmm,’ she rolls her eyes again reaching for the tea mug beside her.

As the afternoon creeps up they’re sitting outside in the sun contently, eating a late breakfast together like he wanted. He wanted to go swimming too, they haven’t since they moved in and they’ve got a really nice pool too. And it’s perfectly sunny and he just has to have her against him for whatever time he has left. He grins into her neck when she mentions the cold water feeling nice on her red bum. He holds her close to him in the water, watches her swim back and forth a few times before bringing her back to him to wrap her body around his.

He’s pulling her bikini bottoms down before she’s even out of the pool. And in retaliation she’s got her hand wrapped around him and they don’t make it inside the house in time.

She admitted it all to herself then, when he’s fucking her by the pool on a perfect sunny day, that staying for these few hours were absolutely necessary. His skin is warm from the sun, small water droplets still stream down his body, between them as he thrusts roughly into her.

When he’d proposed they needed a few of these outdoor furniture pieces she’d agreed but now she’s fully thankful for them.

She wraps her legs around him tighter, needing him as close as he can get. Her sore bum rubs up against the surface beneath her, he told her to switch positions but she doesn’t mind it oddly. The sting and the tingles are always something she’s chasing after. And she’d rather him be on top of her like this now than ride him, she wants him up against her tightly, she needs him to hover over her like this and she wants to hold onto him. Because soon, these small things and remembered details will be the only things getting her through the next few weeks.

Her bikini bottoms never fully made it off with his impatient hands as they hang at her right ankle as he continues with his slick thrusts into her.

‘How am I—meant to last two weeks without this.’ He groans. ‘So good…shit you’re good love.’

She’s exhaling sharply, cracked whimpers leaving her as she comes around him. He’s fucking her through it, driving into her as she keeps tightening around him. He cups her face, making her stay with him so he can get her there again.

‘Good girl, that’s my good girl.’ He groans as she struggles to say anything back. She’s sensitive, overly stimulated as he relentlessly keeps hitting that spot deep inside of her with his name on it. She’s properly crying out now, sinking her nails into his back as her neck stretches back. ‘There it isn’t it? M’there aren’t I?’ He manages against her neck.

She’s begging him now, not only for her own release but his too. How she wants to feel him when she leaves, how badly she needs him to fill her, needs the picture of him coming hard above her.

She’s needy for his lips on hers, moaning into his lips when she gets them. She’s desperately lifting her hips up to his, matching theirs to have him closer, deeper and he nearly chokes over his own breath.

‘Please!’ She cries wrapping her legs around him tighter, pulling him even closer towards her. When he gets close, so impossibly close, her for the second time he thinks sanely for just a moment about the new piece of furniture under them.

‘This is new.’ He groans. ‘Can’t come inside of you—without making a mess of it.’

‘M’not gonna have you for the next two weeks!’ She whines tightening her walls around him purposefully and he growls in her ear. ‘Since when have you cared about making a mess—’

‘You picked these out! Thought you’d care—’ He’s shaking now, needy for it.

‘I don’t!’ She cries. ‘Please!’

‘Shit!—’ He takes her right leg, places it over his shoulder and restarts his ruthless thrusts into her.

‘Fuck what’s yours.’ She whispers to him. His sloppy, jolted thrusts serve them both as she holds tightly to his back and his fingers are pressed so tightly into the skin of her hips.

Her name in short cut off whispers mix with growled out expletives as she starts coming around him. He’s winded, bound so tight as she’s nearly squeezing it all from him. He’s spilling hot and heavy into her, with one of his hands by her hair holding tightly to it and the other holding tightly to her leg wrapped around him.

She’s panting underneath him as he attempts calming his own breaths once he’s pulled out of her and as expected, they’ve left quite a mess.

‘Already miss you.’ He whispers. He straightens out the pout of her lips as she traces the water droplets that fall down his chest.

‘Don’t tell me what time it is.’ She buries her head into his chest.

‘Won’t,’ he pulls her up to him so he’s looking right at her. ‘We’re gonna lay out for a bit.’

She nods, realizes she should soak up as much as sun as she can. There are nothing but clouds back in London. They rest their eyes for a bit, go in and out of peaceful naps. He’s content then, pulls her as close as he can. Then he realizes that this is exactly what he’d pictured when he wanted them to get a house here.

He’s holding her tightly against him in the shower too, when they need to get the day started and have to get clean before. He’s already got his lips on her before any getting clean is done.

She falls into him as he washes her hair, humming contently as he does it for her. She smiles lazily as he lathers up the bubbles across her body, he loves touching her always. She likes pushing her hands through his hair too, trailing and traveling her hands over his strong body.

She doesn’t grasp what he’s doing until he’s on his knees in front of her. With a leg of hers draped over his shoulder and his tongue at her clit.

‘God—I—’ She wants to say, that at a pace like this she’s never going to make it onto this flight either. But he’s got his mouth around her clit, sucking hungrily against her. She’s wobbly, starts shaking as he continues his long and purposeful strokes against her. ‘Shit—keep doing that.’ She moans softly over the loud stream of water as he encourages her to ride his mouth as best as she can.

He wraps one arm around her waist to steady her as he takes his other hand between her legs. He’s needy for it, just as desperate to do this for her as she wants it. He looks up at her from between her thighs as he pushes two of his fingers in as her head falls back. His warm tongue, the way he’s tasting her, the direct strokes against her whilst his fingers press against the spot inside of her, the way he’s moving them inside of her doesn’t leave her many options. She’s coming onto his mouth not long after that with his name as barely there whispers rolling over her tongue.

She doesn’t stop kissing him until they really do have to step out, get dressed and start the already short day together.

She pouts carrying her suitcase down the steps to his car outside. They have two or three hours to continue the search for more furniture pieces and agree on paint colors.

They should really be getting this stuff sorted and done but they’re out of it, not at all focused on the task at hand. He’s just holding tightly to her hand and she’s leaned into him as they browse mindlessly through the showroom.

‘This ones nice.’ She says and he nods. ‘Could be nice in the kitchen.’

‘Stay for today.’ He turns to her.

‘Damnit Harry.’ She sighs.

‘Please love.’ He whispers.

‘It isn’t gonna be easier tomorrow or the next day either.’

‘Don’t go tomorrow then either.’ He says and realized how impossible that is before he’d even said it. She shrugs defeatedly before looking back at the furniture on display because she’ll crumble if she looks at him for any longer.

Sitting across from each other when they go for lunch isn’t doable either. He doesn’t know what it is, how he’s physically incapable of being without her. So she moves her chair, sits next to him happily. She rests her head on his shoulder as they wait for their food, kissing his neck softly.

If the circumstances had been different maybe she would have stopped to marvel at the view of the ocean behind them and what a pretty and clear day it is. They’re both like this, have a hard time seeing anything good from the current situation. Because it doesn’t matter that he’s coming home to London in two weeks, or how after that she’ll be back here for his big night. They’re trying though, he tries telling himself those things, just two weeks, that’s how much longer but it’s harder than hard to think like that when she’s leaving.

And then somehow, by then it’s already nearly four and her flight is at seven. Harry doesn’t usually wish for heavy traffic, it being a pet peeve of his but this time he does. He’s holding her hand as he drives them both and suddenly it’s the time that Harry was trying to stall away from.

He walks with her into the airport until he can’t go any further. Until she’s got to go through security and board the plane home.

He grins, remembers what they had talked about last night. ‘Think about—’

‘Sucking you off in front of your mates, I know, I’ve got a good memory.’ She rolls her eyes taking her suitcase back from him when he’d offered to carry it.

‘Well when you say it like that sounds fuckin filthy.’ He mutters.

‘Isn’t it?’ She smirks. ‘S’why you want it so bad isn’t it?’ She pulls out her boarding pass and passport from her handbag to avoid holding up the line behind her.

‘Can’t do much showing off with a blender.’ He admits.

‘You could, you could make one hell of a smoothie.’ She grins.

‘I could I suppose.’ He plays along sarcastically.

‘Can’t say it’d taste as good as you do,’ she inches closer to him. ‘Or how good I do.’ She traces his jawline slowly. ‘You could try.’ She shrugs casually. She’s properly asking for it now and she’s not being fair to him one bit. Because she’s got to get on that plane and he’s gonna be left thinking about filthy things for the rest of the night.

‘Who keeps letting you talk like that?’ He covers her mouth. ‘Fucking Christ—watch your mouth.’

She can’t answer him with his hand on her mouth but for one, he likes it when she talks like that. Craves it too. He’s just plain bothered now, wants her again but this is the last flight tonight and she will yell at him if he makes her miss this one too.

She shifts her head to line her mouth with his fingertips, he catches on far too late when she wraps her lips around his index and middle. He glares at her, looks at her like she’s actually crazy. He presses his lips together tightly when he realizes that this is nearly what he’s asking from her for his birthday and the picture starts racing through his head. His stomach tightens when she begins sliding her lips across his fingers. Her lips wet, pretty pink gliding across. And he can’t do this right now, in the middle of a busy airport with people walking by them to stand in the line she has to start queuing in soon. He’ll lose it, he’s already bothered and already missing her.

‘Wanted this didn’t you?’ She whispers. ‘This is what you want from me…’

‘Get on the bloody plane,’ he reluctantly pulls his fingers away and she laughs before he grasps her jaw tightly. ‘Before I never let you leave.’

‘M’going m’going. Just wanted to tell you I love you first.’ She grins wrapping her arms around his neck and he wraps his arms tightly around her waist. ‘Come back to me quickly yeah?’ She buries herself into his neck. ‘Too many episodes of the bakeoff to watch alone, in a house much too big for just me.’

He nods, this bit is always hard. ‘Travel safe.’ He kisses her forehead and his lips linger there because they too, are having a hard time saying goodbye. ‘I’ll see you real soon, not much longer.’ He whispers before kissing her hard then shaking his head trying to avoid getting too sad about this. ‘I love you.’ He whispers. It’s always been like this and it’s going to keep being like this, they try not to get upset.

She finds her seat before reaching for her phone in her bag. ‘You win, like always. Happy early birthday. Don’t say I never gave you anything. Much better than a paper weight and a blender I’d say.’

Harry has already stepped into a late meeting when he gets the message. He grins widely at it, his stomach tightens again but he knows he can’t afford to think about this right now. He’s about to turn over his phone to get back to the meeting when it vibrates again. A blender is on their way to their home, should be delivered tomorrow at noon. He chuckles softly into his hand turning the phone over after sending her a message.

-M’not making you any smoothies.

You have to, m’blowing you in front of your friends. Start practicing your blending.

7 Thoughts about Power Rangers

On August 28, 1993, Mighty Morphin Power Rangers premiered on Fox Kids. I was eight years old and whether or not I was the intended demographic for the show, I was instantly hooked. It all started with five teenagers with attitudes summoned by Zordon to defend the world against evil forces led by intergalactic baddie Rita Repulsa. Jason Lee Scott (Austin St. John), Kimberly Ann Hart (Amy Jo Johnson), William “Billy” Cranston (David Yost), Trini Kwan (Thuy Trang) and Zack Taylor (Walter Jones) called on the power of the ancient dinosaurs and became a team of superheroes called the Power Rangers and the world was never the same.

Nearly twenty-five years later, those of us who became acquainted with the Power Rangers discovered there would be a reboot of the franchise in the form of a gritty re-imagining of the original team. While initially thrilled about the idea of seeing my childhood superheroes on the big screen, a part of me wondered just how loyal this new film would be to the original source material. Mighty Morphin Power Rangers was a totally kick-ass TV show but even the most die-hard fan has to admit there were some problematic elements in regards to the original series, many I will address later on in this recap.

On March 31, 2017 a couple of friends and I went to our local theater and saw the new film, Power Rangers. One of my friends admitted he was not even born when the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers first debuted and my other friend announced he would have been too old to watch such a show despite only being four/five older years than me. I expected them both to hate it and even braced myself for disappointment of epic proportions. The three of us exited the theater two and a half hours later each raving about how amazing the film was. Below, I will list seven thoughts I have in regards to the film. For those who have not seen the Power Rangers, there will be spoilers in this post. You have been warned…

  1. In the original series, Zack, Trini, Billy, Kimberly and Jason all knew each other and were the best of friends before becoming the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers. In the latest film, our heroes know of each other before discovering Zordon (voiced by Bryan Cranston) but they are certainly not friends. Jason (Dacre Montgomery) is a football star before he winds up in detention (and with an ankle bracelet) after a brush with the law. It is in detention where he meets Billy (RJ Cyler) and Kimberly (Naomi Scott). Trini (Becky G) is a recent transplant in Angel Grove and Zack (Ludi Lin) is a loner who rarely attends class. Instead of Jason being the rallying force behind the five teens coming together, it’s actually Billy who is responsible for the event that eventually leads them to each other…and the power coins.
  2. These ain’t your older brother and sister’s Power Rangers. Our heroes have been re-imagined as more of a modern day Breakfast Club. Jason is a star athlete who loses everything after a prank gone awry. Jason is prone to fits of anger which often-times leaves him incapable of leading the team. However, underneath all of the muscle and bravado there’s a good guy there will a strong moral core who feels the weight of fear, a fear of disappointing those he cares about, most importantly his father (David Denman). Our dear Kimberly, like Jason, used to be one of the popular kids until a sexting scandal rendered her an outcast at Angel Grove High. Billy is a bullied autistic teen who spends a lot of time at the rock quarry because it reminds him of his dad. Trini, the new girl, wrestles with the fact she is not normal like her parents and her two brothers. Zack is trying to deal with the fact that his mother is sick and could possibly die. Instead of our rangers having that established relationship with each other, we get to see them get to know one another before tapping into the power that will ultimately transform them into the Power Rangers.
  3. One of the things my friends and I would joke about in regards to the TV show was how Jason, Trini, Billy, Zack and Kimberly always were together wearing clothing the same color as their respective ranger identities. Anyone with eyes and a shred of common sense in Angel Grove could have put two and two together and figured out these five were the Power Rangers. The movies pays homage to this concept by having each of the rangers wear a pop of color corresponding to their ranger’s color. It’s both effective and subtle.
  4. Morphing is like totally hard, you know? The five of them discover the hidden power coins in the rock quarry and develop superhuman abilities almost immediately. Summoning the armor they will ultimately don in their battle against Rita Repulsa and Goldar takes a lot of time and even after a lengthy training montage (WE NEED A MONTAGE!!!!) our teenagers with attitudes are still not successful in becoming the rangers. I actually like this idea of them not being able to become rangers right away because it forces our characters to learn one another. A team is only effective when it accesses the strengths and weaknesses of it’s individual members. It is only after they are able to truly bond with each other they are able to tap into the power that morphs them into Power Rangers.
  5. Rita Repulsa is freaking terrifying. So yeah, the original Rita Repulsa was a total bad-ass but I never really found her particularly scary. The film’s version of Rita Repulsa (Elizabeth Banks) is wicked and not above murdering any and everyone who gets in her way. Rita even goes as far as to kill one of the rangers. No joke. Another added detail I quite enjoyed about the character was how she was the original Green Ranger who served alongside Zordon, the original Red Ranger. This also makes me wonder, when they debut the Green Ranger in the sequel (of course there will be a sequel) will it be Tommy Oliver…or Tommie Oliver?
  6. The Zords were awesome. I enjoyed the sleek look of the design and their free range of movements. In the TV show, most of the Zords were reminiscent of actual tanks and were big and blocky and a bit cumbersome. One of my favorite moments in the film was the creation of the Megazord and how each Power Ranger controlled a particular part of the machine, i.e. the legs, arms, etc. It really took some coordination between all five rangers in order for them to control Megazord.
  7. The last thing I want to address in regard to the Power Rangers film is how cool it was to see a black nerd character on the big screen. Growing up, I always resonated with the character of Billy because my favorite color was blue and Billy was very intelligent and he wore glasses. Billy was this nerd character who was accepted by those we would call popular. As the resident science geek, Billy also plays a vital role to the team. Another thing I thought was pretty cool was Billy being autistic in the film. I was talking to a coworker of mine yesterday and we were talking about the importance of having visibility in regards to autism in TV and film. Her son is autistic and how coll is it he has someone like him on the big screen as a superhero. Another thing I would also like to point out is the importance of having a LGBT character in the film. Trini is not only the new girl but she also likes girls and because of her sexuality she feels somewhat detached from her family. I also detected a bit of something brewing between Trini and Kimberly. Then again maybe it was all in my head. However, I was so glad they did not play out any kind of romance between any of the rangers in this film. I know there were talks about Kimberly and Jason possibly being romantically-involved in the film which would be a great departure from canon but first and foremost Power Rangers has always been the story of a group of friends coming together to save the world. I would be interested to see if future films do further address Trini’s sexuality because how great would it be to see a young woman fully embracing her sexuality and being a total bad-ass in the process. I know there will be a part of the fandom who will wonder why there needed to be an autistic ranger or a lesbian ranger. Some will even ask, why did they have to make Billy black? These are the same people who flip out whenever there is a character introduced on Sesame Street who has two dads or two moms or a parent that’s incarcerated. Representation is so important because in order to eradicate homophobia and racism and bigotry in our society, we have to acknowledge these people exist! So thank you Power Rangers for going there.

I am thirty-two years old and I have never felt more like that eight year old sitting on the floor of my living room watching Mighty Morphin Power Rangers than I did last night sitting in that movie theater. I recommend Power Rangers to all of you who share the same memories as I do in regards to the TV show. Even if you were never a fan of the show, the story is amazing, the acting was great and it was packed with action. My friends and I definitely had a great time and this is a film I would definitely consider seeing again in theaters and also purchasing once it comes out on DVD. If you have any thoughts or comments in regards to my thoughts, fill free to comment. GO-GO-POWER RANGERS!

“Once More” Dean x Reader

Words: 2,058 (I may have gotten a little carried away)

Dean x Reader

Summary: Reader is Castiel’s daughter and is sneaking around with Dean.

Being Jimmy’s oldest daughter wasn’t easy. I had to accept at a young age that I would never see my father again, but in his place was this… Being. Castiel. At first he scared me, and I refused to be around him. “You’re not my dad…” I remember telling him the first time I met him. But as I continued to get older, I started to value him more, and I consider him to be my father now.

Today, I’m in college, still living with Jody. Even though Alex and Claire might not appreciate her, I do. After my little sister and I were left with no one, she was nice enough to let the two of us stay with her. Even now, when she’s technically not responsible for me anymore since I’m almost twenty-two, she lets me stay here instead of forcing me to live in a dorm. I will be eternally grateful, and Claire’s actions just pissed me off sometimes.

“Y/N, dinner time! And while you’re up there, tell Claire to get out of her room and join us!” Jody yelled from the kitchen downstairs. I picked my head up from my lore book, marking my place and setting it down gently on my bed. The one, and probably only, thing that my sister and I did have in common was our eagerness to hunt. Even then, that’s a long shot. She’s irresponsible, and half the time she’s wrong. I’m surprised she’s not in jail yet, even with Jody being the sheriff.

I close my door on my way out of my room, and pop my head into Claire’s room.

“Time to eat.” I tell her, watching her writing in a notebook.

“I’m busy.”

“And I don’t care. Come downstairs.” I roll my eyes. She huffs and rolls her eyes, but ultimately gets up and following me to the kitchen. God, her food smells so good.

“Where’s Alex?” I ask.

“Out with friends, I guess. She was vague on details.” Jodi tells me, setting my plate on lasagna on the table.

“She’s probably out having sex with that new boyfriend of hers.” Claire snickered.

“Her boyfriend’s an asshole, I don’t know why she’s with him.” I respond.

“Oh, you’re one to talk. You’re the one who screws-“ She started, but cut herself off when she realized she was going too far. A look of panic crosses my face, and Jody looks at me quizzically. Thankfully, she doesn’t push it any further.

“Hey, Y/N, I was going to tell you earlier but I forgot. Dean called me earlier, said they need extra help on a hunting trip.  Asked if you wanted to go along.”

“What? Of course I want to!” I practically yelled.

“I figured. They’ll be here tomorrow morning. After dinner, go pack.”

“That’s so not fair!” Claire whined. “They never invite me to go hunting with them.”

“I’m older than you, and quite frankly, a better hunter. So, quit.” I say, trying to stop the conversation before it happened. She has no filter.

I finish my dinner quickly, and excuse myself to my room to pack, only thinking about Dean. There had always been chemistry between the two of us, but he didn’t ever act on it until about a year ago. There was a case in the next town over, so Sam and Dean stayed at our house. One night, we were drinking a little, one thing led to another and we slept together.

We both felt extremely guilty about it. Not only was I only 20 years old, meaning he’s almost double my age, but because I’m his best friend’s daughter. Castiel cared about me and treated me like a daughter to the best of his ability, and if he found out that Dean had just screwed his daughter silly… I didn’t even want to think about it.

For a while, we avoided each other. When we did see each other after that, we never talked about that night. It was strictly business, or him asking how I have been. But I could see the way he looked at me. I could feel his staring at me when he doesn’t think I notice. I see the way he always seems to want to tell me something, but never does.

Claire noticed, too. “What’s going on between you and Dean? He’s looks at you like a man looks at his fiancé on their wedding day.” She finally asked one day, as we were sitting in her room together watching TV.

I made the mistake of hesitating to answer. She threatened to tell Jody, or worse, Castiel, if I didn’t tell her what happened. She promised not to tell anybody, but oh man, did she hold that over my head anytime she wanted something.

The second time we did it, it was in his impala. Castiel had called me, asking if I could accompany him in a hunt. I obliged, thinking it would only be us two. I showed up and got the surprise of my life when I saw the boys there, too. I don’t remember exactly how we ended up together in the car, but there had been so much sexual tension between us, going unspoken. We just started ripping each other’s clothes off, and had some really great sex in the backseat.

Ever since then, Dean and I had been finding every excuse to be together. The hard part was keeping it a secret and making sure no one was suspicious.

I finish packing, excited to see him tomorrow. I shouldn’t be this excited. He doesn’t want a relationship, I know that. I know it’s strictly sex. But a part of me wants more. I want to be able to call Dean my boyfriend, to able to not sneak around with him. I want to be able to tell him how much I love him, to feel happy with him. To have that “apple pie life.” But I know he couldn’t give me that even if he wanted to. His life was too fucked up for that. He was too fucked up for that.

I sigh, climbing into bed, and try to shut out my feelings.

-

“Rise and shine, Y/N.” I hear a man’s voicing saying from the doorway, a voice I immediately recognize. I groan, pulling the covers over my face.

“God, Dean, what time is it?” I croak out.

“Early. We gotta get out of here now if we want to be there by tonight.” He says, pulling the covers off my bed. I glare at him, looking at the clock on my nightstand.

“It’s four a.m. I want sleep.”

“Sleep in the car. You already know its comfortable back there.” He smirks, making me throw a pillow at him.

“I’ll be there in five minutes.”

I hurriedly get myself somewhat presentable, brushing my hair and teeth, and changing into regular clothes before grabbing my backpack and walking out the door. I walk past Claire’s room on the way, stopping and hugging her before I leave. I do this every time I leave for a hunt. I never know what could happen, and regardless of how annoyed she gets me, I love her.

I get to the impala, and notice that Sam isn’t there. I look at Dean, confused, but get into the passenger side of the car.

“Where’s Sam?”

“He’s meeting us there.” Dean replies, pulling out of the driveway and taking off. I felt my phone buzz, and see a text from Claire.

‘Should I start sucking Sam’s dick so I can get invited on hunts, too?’

I ignore the text, shutting it off and putting it in my bag. I don’t get to see Dean often- I’m not letting her ruin it.

The road trip was quiet and uneventful. I slept almost the entire time, and when I wasn’t sleeping, I was reading, which made Dean laugh.

“Maybe you should be with Sammy instead, you nerd.” He would joke. Every few minutes, he would look over at me and smile, not thinking that I could see him.

Before I knew it, it was already almost ten at night and we still had another three hours left of driving. I thought that Dean would just keep driving it, seeing that it was only three hours and he did this for a living, but after a few minutes he pulls into some sketchy looking motel.

“Motel, huh?” I tease.

“Shut up,” He laughs. He goes inside to get a room key while I start getting stuff out of the impala. I giggle slightly when I see that he still has my socks sitting in the floor board of his car. When we had sex in his car that one time, I accidentally left my socks after I left. He tried to return them to me, but I told him to keep them as a good luck charm, completely joking. But he never got rid of them.

It’s something stupid to be all giggly about.

“Room six.” Dean comes up to me, helping grab stuff. I lay down on the bed, enjoying the feeling of comfort after a long day of being cooped up in a car.

“You comfortable?” He looks at me, smiling.

“I am, but I need a shower. I’m just trying to gather the energy to get up and walk there.” I groan, not wanting to have to get up. Dean chuckled, and walked over to the bed, picking me up like I was a feather.

“You’re light.” He comments.

“You’re just strong.” I tell him, and he sets me down in front of the bathroom. “You know, I might need help taking my clothes off, too.”

“I’m happy to help.” His eyes sparkle, his face filling with lust. He leans in, slowly kissing me at first. I pick up the pace, opening the door to the bathroom and taking us both in there. Dean slams the door shut, and hurriedly takes my shirt off, not breaking the kiss. His hands roam all over my back, until finally unhooking my bra and taking my breasts into his mouth. I moan at the sensation, leaning against the wall in delight. He stops to take off his clothes, and I begin taking off my jeans and thong.

“Y/N, you’re beautiful. I don’t know how I got you.” Dean says, turning on the shower.

“I could say the same to you, daddy.”

His eyes got darker. He pulls me hungrily into him, kissing me hard and pumping two fingers in and out of my clit, making me moan. We step into the shower, both of us almost gasping at how good the warm water felt.

“What do you want, babygirl?”

“I want you to fuck me, daddy. Fuck me hard.” I beg. He enters me slowly from behind before going at it hard and fast.

“Fuck, Y/N” Dean hisses, hearing me moan like that was driving him over the edge. I knew he had a slight daddy kink, but not like this.

“Oh, yes, daddy, I’m close.” I barely get out, panting. He speeds up, his breath ragged at well.

“Y/N?” I hear a voice outside of shower. I jumped away from Dean.

“Hello?” The same voice says again.

Oh. My. God.

My face drops as I recognize the voice. I poke my head out of the shower just to make sure.

“Uh, hi, Castiel.” I say guilty, hiding my body behind the curtain. Dean stays silent.

“I heard you calling out for your dad. Are you ok?”

“I’m, uh, I’m fine. Sorry. You can leave now.” I choke out. I don’t think he knows Dean is in here.

“Are you sure? I can stay-“

“Castiel, I am in the shower. Please leave.” I rush him. He looks at me oddly, but eventually poofs out of the room.

“Shit, that was close.” I let out a breath.

“I can’t believe he actually did that, oh my GOD. That’s hilarious.” Dean is cracking up.

“You wouldn’t be laughing so hard if he had actually caught us.” I shot at him.

“Yeah, yeah, you’re right. But he didn’t, that’s all that matters.” He pulls me towards him, kissing me.

“So, should we continue? This is our only night alone together, you know.” Dean makes a good point.

“Definitely.”

New interview in Sunday’s The Observer. Highlights:

On doing press: “Having just turned 40 I hope I’ve achieved some sort of wisdom or patience,” he says in his soft, evenly paced brogue. As a younger man he disliked watching himself on screen; he struggled with press duties and avoided TV chat shows until a few years ago. “I was very uncomfortable with this,” he continues with a gesture at my tape recorder and notepad. “The reductive nature nowadays of most journalism is very frustrating.” One newspaper report on the most recent series of Peaky Blinders focused on the baring of his bottom. “It is getting absurd with the dumbing down, the level of questions you get asked.”

On moving to Dublin and getting a puppy: Murphy moved away, making his home in London with his wife and children Malachy and Aran, now 11 and nine. After 14 years in the British capital, however, they have just relocated to Dublin… “You want to be with your parents as they get older and you want your children to be aware of their culture… Irish people are brilliant and you have to go away and come back to realise it.” Did his boys rebel when they were told they’d be leaving their schoolfriends behind? “We promised them a dog so that was just fine.” A black Labrador arrived, though, he says, “I am the only one that walks it, of course.”

On Dunkirk: Though Nolan’s films are usually shrouded in secrecy, as Murphy points out: “Everybody knows what happened at Dunkirk, so it can’t deviate too much from the facts. It is not like Inception or Interstellar, there’s no major reveal.” He describes Nolan as an old-fashioned filmmaker. “And while all of his films have big budgets and involve a lot of setet pieces, they always feel like a little independent film for the actor because you only ever have one camera and Chris watches on a tiny little monitor. He is right there beside you.”

On Peaky Blinders: The show will run for two more seasons. “It is some of the best writing I have come across,” he says, “and I never expected to revisit a character like that over and over. It will be about 30 hours of television when we have finished and to shine a light into all these weird parts of the character’s psyche that you would never ever get in the compressed version of a feature film or even a play, that is an extraordinary gift. I am very lucky that it came along. I have always just been about the work.”

On his interests outside acting: “I have not been interested in anything else,” he says. “I know I am old-fashioned, but I don’t want to bring out a fashion line, I don’t want to bring out an album. I just want to do the work as best as I can and if that effects change for somebody, then that is great.” He smiles. “I don’t want to change the world.”

Is this accurate? I'm sorry, I don't really know how to read ratings correctly, but did they at some point go below 1 million? programminginsider(.)com/network/updated-wednesday-ratings-abc-cbs-top-night/?platform=hootsuite

If only you could hear me laughing right now. I was waiting for the half-hour breakdown to come out and hoping this would be the case.

When the show started at 9:00pm 1.10 million people were tuned in and watching The Flop.

By the time 9:30pm rolled around 137,000 people had said “Fuck this dude” and changed the channel on a Bellini heavy episode bringing the total number of people who made it to the halfway point of the episode only 963,000.

When you average the two is when you get the 1.03 total ratings for the entire episode, but in reality they ended the episode with significantly less than a million viewers and I don’t recall that ever happening before.

A/N: I KNOW LIN WOULD NEVER DO THIS I’M SORRY I JUST GOT SO INTO IT. This was a request! “Anon asked: 2. “You can hate me, you can dislike me but how can you cheat on me?” This with literally anyone fuck up my emotions pls” ANON I HOPE THIS FUCKS UP YOUR EMOTIONS ENOUGH I’M SORRY ALSO I MIGHT DO A PART TWO TELL ME IF YOU ALL WOULD WANT THAT

It wasn’t the late hours that had worried you.

Lin was busy. You had accepted that early into your relationship with him. He was always busy.

When he had begun to text you telling you that he was spending the night at the theater, you began to worry. You confronted him about it, telling him only that you were worried that he was spending too much time at the theater, never accusing him of cheating, despite the fear that riddled your head, swearing that he was.

In response, he promised you that it was only because with the rising popularity of Hamilton, the show demanded his full attention, so he had been spending nights at the theater with the sole purpose of bettering the show. To which you only nodded, smiling as a voice in the back of your head reminded you that Hamilton had been at Richer Rogers for over three months. The script was done, the choreography was done, the music was done. There shouldn’t have been anything to work on.

You tried to push it out of your head, trying to disregard all the hours Lin was not spending away from you, either at the theater or cooped up in his office.

“Hey,” you whispered, pushing the half-closed door of his office open, seeing him, his eyes heavy with exhaustion, a grey tint evident in his skin.

It was ten hours of constant panic attacks from you, Taeoh fidgeting in his seat whining at the top of his lungs that he wanted to get off the plane, then there was Seunghyun who had lost his phone and made all the flight attendants help him look for it because he didn’t have a lock on his phone and had things in it that were not suitable for the public eye. To top it all off, you were sprawled on the bathroom floor of the plan for almost half of the trip vomiting because of altitude sickness.

When the three of you finally got off of the plane you were all half dead and beyond pissed off. You reeked of vomit and had dark circles under your eyes which contrasted your sickly green skin. Seunghyun had bags on every limb of his body and apart from having to hold Taeoh’s hand, he had to half-carry half-drag you through the airport because you were so weak your knees wobbled every time you took a step. Taeoh looked like a train wreck, his usually silk hair resembled a bird’s nest. He had snuck a piece of gum out of your purse and somehow managed to get it stuck in his hair. You were honestly too sick to care.

Seunghyun looks at you then Taeoh before chuckling to himself. “Thank god for masks.”

request: can you write about how you’re from the US and maybe you moved to the UK with harry and you’re feeling homesick and it leaves you in a bad mood

masterlist

I remember when Harry asked me to move to London with him. He had told me not too long before that he would have to leave LA soon to go back to London.

“Well,” I told him over dinner, “So we’ll miss the summer together, but I’ll be moving to London in the fall for grad school.”

“Have you found a flat yet?”

I shook my head, taking a sip of my drink, “Not yet. I’m thinking of flying back with you so you can help me look.” He didn’t say anything. “Is that okay?”

He looked up from his food, a garlic noodle hanging out of his mouth. “I have a present for you.” He said after wiping his mouth. He seemed nervous.

I frowned, “Okay.”

whatisitwhereisit  asked:

is it true that if a person could travel at light speed, she would age differently from a regular person on earth? If so, how/what would make that happen?

In essence, yes. What you’re describing is an important element of special relativity. I’ll explain below.

We know that the speed of light is constant in any reference frame - no matter what speed you travel at, you will always observe the speed of light to be 3.00x108 m/s. Period. Since any observer will always see light traveling at this speed, it is impossible to travel at or faster than light.

So knowing this, what happens if I’m traveling at 90% the speed of light in one direction, and you are stationary? I’m going to observe light moving at  3.00x108 m/s, but so are you! Now, if I’m going at 90% the speed of light and time flows the same for me as it does for you, won’t I observe light traveling at 190% the speed you observe? Based on what we know already, this cannot happen, since that would lead to two different measurements of the speed of light, and impossibility.

In order for both of our measurements to be the same, time and space have to be different - time has to slow down for me, and my length has to shrink relative to yours, since velocity is a measure of distance over time. So you would observe me being shorter, and time flowing slower for me (so I would be moving in slow motion). However, from my perspective I am not moving, and you are moving at 90% the speed of light in the opposite direction. I observe time flowing slower for you, and I observe your length as shorter. Both observations are equally accurate, and there’s no way to prove which one is accurate - if we were to take videos of each other passing by, my video would show time flowing slower for you, and your video would show time flowing slower for me, and both are equally accurate. So yeah, that’s the basics of special relativity for you. Pretty wild, right?

Here are some resources that should help out as well, along with providing some more in-depth details that weren’t covered here; I would DEFINITELY recommend watching the two videos below. I also included graphs of time dilation, which shows how time is impacted by speed, and length contraction, which shows how length changes based on velocity.

Another post I made

TL;DR time and length have to be relative in order for the speed of light to be constant in all frames of reference. Thanks for asking, and I hope this was informative. If I went too in depth // any of it went over anyone’s head, feel free to ask me questions about it! I love answering them. Sorry this is so long, but it was the only way to explain this well.

13 Reasons Why

I’m only on episode two and I’m in love with this show. The book was the first book that I remember connecting with and as I watch this show, I was worried that it would be a little weird because the book only has so much information, but I’m so impressed with this show.

CHAPTER EIGHT

Don’t freeze out there, huh? Good advice, but hard to follow, Emma thought sourly, as they left the warm, comfortingly grease-scented air of the bar behind. It had already been cold outside when they arrived, but the temperature seemed to have dropped even further while they were inside, and a light snow was falling. She pulled her coat’s hood up with one hand, then returned it to Jones’ arm, keeping a firm grip with all ten fingers.

He wasn’t staggering anymore, although as they walked slowly across the parking lot, threading through cars and trucks, his steps were slightly uneven. Not that she was perfectly steady, herself; Emma could still feel the beer pounding through her veins, making her a little dizzy. Their breath formed clouds in the freezing air, and Emma longed to call a cab, even just for a fifteen-minute walk.

anonymous asked:

Are you ready to see Clarke being the commander? because that's totally going to happen. The foreshadowing is there. JRoth's intentions are transparent. Clarke following L footsteps and two endgames. Don't tell me it's not perfect.

I’m tired™

Listen, you can think whatever you want, I can’t control how you feel. I understand why people are worried and I totally get how problematic it would be if Clarke took the flame. (if this happens, the only thing that could keep me watching the show is Bob/Bellamy, and I’m not even sure)

but the point is I don’t see that happening.

Let’s make a list:

Reasons to believe she will.

- She’s a nightblood

Reasons to believe she won’t.

- Their society and the world will be gone in 6 days.

- The flame is kind of in no man’s land.

- They’re moving away from hierarchies.

- Polis and the tower are going to be destroyed in 4x13.

- COL is gone. In my opinion there’s no way to communicate with the commanders.

- The flame was a religious symbol, now it’s just an USB. Some grounders reject it because it’s technology.

- Society+ Religion+Politics = Commander but….. Non society + USB= ???

- Grounders wouldn’t or shouldn’t accept her since she’s not a real nightblood. She’s an experiment and that’s blasphemy (Echo said something like that)

- Before this season, having nightblood was a gift/curse, but now it’s nothing special. If it’s not special, there’s no tradition.

- Raven is connected to Becca’s mind in some way. Clarke doesn’t need to take the flame.

- When Clarke decided to inject herself with nightblood she was rejecting L’s leadership.

- Clarke doesn’t need an upgrade. If they make her take the AI it would be like erasing her character, her leadership, the lessons she learned….

- All the commanders have led alone. Clarke was already isolated in s3 and it was her worst moment. She needs her people and shipper goggles off, this show is about Bellamy and Clarke and their leadership. I mean, Together is their motto.

- It’s no coincidence this season we’ve seen many characters calling her out. Monty, Murphy, Jasper, Emori, Arkadia!!… They’re pushing Clarke away from God’s rol. “You know, it’s too bad that you weren’t a real Nightblood because then you could’ve been Commander. Imagine how many people you could’ve killed then” The commander’s rol has pretty negative connotations, don’t you think?

Maybe they managed to add a plot where Clarke feels tempted to take it to save her people, but she would ultimately reject it. This is the only ‘Clarke as commander’ plot that I can see. The narrative isn’t going there.

I’m not going to tell people how they are allowed to feel and react to a situation.

The way I see, what’s done is done.

If they haven’t written that. I’m spending weeks worrying over nothing.

If they have written that, my worries are not going to change their story. If that happens I’d drop the show or I’d turn into a casual viewer. It’s as simple as that.

Why Supernatural Fans Need to Watch Timeless, From Misha Collins Himself

PS: Recently, Eric posted a long letter to fans about how Timeless has been deemed a “bubble show,” meaning that a season two renewal isn’t guaranteed. While the cast has been working hard to get more people to watch, in your own words, what do you think people should tune? What do you think sets Timeless apart from other shows on TV?

MC: It just amazing to me that Timeless is a bubble show, that it’s just not solidly in the renew column. I think that would only happen today when we’re in this golden era of television, where there’s so much to watch, it’s just hard to capture an audience in the first place.

But this show is absolutely epic. I simply can’t believe the production value for the episodes. Each episode is creating a new world. I just can’t think of another television show that trumps the Hindenburg to the 1970s week to week. And then there’s just a real synergy between the cast and the writing is smart.

I hope that it continues to grow its audience and that people find the show. I honestly think that the only problem is that people haven’t found it yet. It’s a great show, and I’m very happy to be a part of it.

Harry Potter Preferences #2:{Moder-ish}Movie you watch together

GOLDEN TRIO ERA

Draco:

Love Actually;Draco was a little hesitant at first, but after forcing him to sit and watch it with you, he actually enjoyed it. He kept making several references after watching the film and you were ecstatic to see him happy. The references did get old after a while, but if it made Draco smile, then you didn’t really mind.

Harry:

Captain America; The Winter Soldier; You both loved superhero movies, but this one held a special place in Harry’s heart. He felt “a personal connection” to Steve Rogers because “they were both underestimated and kindhearted heroes.“It got a bit annoying really. He sobbed when Steve was about to die and Bucky saved him. He’s a big shipper of Stucky.

Hermione:

Beauty and The Beast; Hermione was soooooo excited to see it, it had only recently been opened in Theaters and she didn’t want to give up the opportunity. You gladly took her, ready to see the movie just as much as she was. Once the film started, a young and beautiful girl strolled into view. You were both rather startled. She looked just like Hermione! You turned to her with a smirk and asked if she had some sort of a doppelgänger. She strongly glared at you.,clearly annoyed at what just happened. You just laughed in her face, causing the entire theater to yell at you.

Ron:

50 First Dates; You don’t particularly care for that movie, but Ron loves it. Majorly because of the comedy that always comes with an Adam Sandler movie. He also knows that while you may not like that movie, it always makes you smile and feel better if you’re feeling down. His favorite scene is when the Lucy beats up the weird Chinese guy. It’s your favorite too.

Neville:

The Fault in Our Stars; You didn’t want Neville to watch the movie because he’s a cryer. He would sob at practically every scene. Which he did when you finally agreed to let him watch it. You held him I’m your arms as he cried over Gus’s death. You had tears of your own that dribbled down your face. You tried to assure each other that it wasn’t real, that it didn’t really happen, but fictional deaths are as real as Actual deaths.

Luna:

The outsiders; You and Luna deeply loved the film because you both knew what it was like it be an outsider. The two of you empathized with the gang of greasers and how they were treated. Your appreciation of the movie ran far deeper than Luna’s. This movie helped you though your ptsd that the war caused. It helped to erase the pain. Luna was already happy, but she couldn’t pretend that the war hadn’t affected her as well.

Fred:

Mean Girls; You really didn’t have any idea how you and Fred wound up watching Mean Girls. The two of you were just lounging around when suddenly the door of your DVD player popped open, and the film was put in. The time wasn’t wasted seeing as You and Fred had a lot of commentary. The most memorable being Fred’s remark,“She’s a bitch” to almost every character.

George:

The Maze Runner; You loved the books, but you were a bit skeptical to see how the movie would turn out. The book is usually better after all. You hadn’t seen it in theaters, you wanted this to be a private moment. George wanted to view the film as well, his curiosity peaked. You and George had entangled yourselves together on the couch, waiting for the previews to end so you could watch the actual movie. Finally, the menu popped up, and you shakily pressed play, anxiously awaiting to judge whether or not you were right. Let’s just say, the movie was good, but the book was still better.

MARAUDERS ERA

James:

If I stay; It’s the movie that you and James always watch on Valentine’s Day. It always makes James sad because he wonders what would happen if you were Mia and he was Adam. It always brings you two closer together yet more afraid of losing the other. It also shows you that you never really know when everything could be taken from you. So you need to make the most of every moment.

Sirius:

The breakfast club; Sirius claims that he only watches it because of Judd Nelson, while you claim that you only watch it because you’re bored. You both loved how the film was unapologetically honest about his things were for teens, and it was absolutely true. Sirius sympathized with the rebel because he knew what it was like to grow up in an abusive family and be changed by it. You sympathized with the brainiac, knowing how discriminated against intellectuals such as yourself were.

Remus:

Inside out; Remus simply adored the metaphor behind the Disney film, the fact that emotions are a bigger part of us than we realize. He was entranced with psychology and emotions, the movie only deepened his obsession. He’d barely pay attention to you when you two are watching it. You’d usually end up throwing a pillow or your scarf at him, managing to snatch a bit of his attention.

Lily:

Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them; You loved animals, especially magical ones,so you loved that there was a movie about them. Both you and Lily found the film a bit odd though, Newt Scamander seemed very familiar. You let it go, he probably wasn’t even real anyway. The suspicion stayed with the two of you as you watched the film. Who was Newt Scamander?

Regulus:

Finding Dory;Regulus was only in it for Baby Dory and Baby Dory only. He never expressed his enthusiasm for the movie but nevertheless he was in love with it. You were suprised to see him like that, he was usually very dark and brooding. Now all of a sudden he was putting the film into your DVD player and shushing you so that he could properly hear.

Severus:

Footloose; You loved old types of Movies and you loved Dancing. So when you found a movie that was both of your favorite things, you just had to watch it. You made Severus watch it with you, much to his protests, which you fully ignored. After finishing it, Sev did admit that he “sort of liked it.”

Peter:

Suicide Squad; You thought that maybe Peter was a bit too excited for the dc movie. However, you didn’t really pay attention to it. Peter had been acting strangely lately and if this helped him, then you certainly weren’t going to object. No matter how much it worried you.

The Problem With the “If it’s gay, it’s good.” Mentality.

Hello, various fandoms that will be seeing this.

While I focus on some specific fandoms and shows in this essay, rant, overanalysis, what have you, I believe that the concept is pretty far-reaching and overarching across the majority of the shows that this website freaks the fuck out over.

Gonna go out right here and establish that I’m panro-ace and male, so don’t worry, a “straightie” isn’t preaching to you about what LGBTQ+ representation should look like in media. (that is to say, though, that contrary to popular belief on here, it is possible for cishets to have the right idea about topics such as this.)

Anyway, on to what I want to talk about.

In recent months and going back to when I first joined Tumblr two and a half years ago, I’ve started noticing this disturbing trend with the types of media that we as fans consume. Particularly, those of us who are in the LBGTQ+ community.

Ask anyone who’s spent more than three seconds on here, and they can give you a seemingly endless list of shows that either fucked up representation (Steins;Gate, Rukako/Lukako specifically), baited representation, i.e. “queerbaiting” (Hetalia, Love Live Sunshine/School Idol Project), or killed off one of the two queer partners for “shock value” or some other bullshit reason (e.g. Clexa).

But then, here in late 2016, the year of Hell, we are suddenly graced with Yuri on Ice, the first mainstream anime in recent memory to have a canon gay couple in a non-BL or Yaoi setting. In other words, the first show to treat a homo pairing like a hetero one.

Naturally, we’ve exploded as a fanbase. People obsess over each screenshot pulled from the show, there’s a shipping web more complex than most ones created by spiders, and each Wednesday there’s so much YOI on my dash that sometimes I wonder how anything else is reblogged on those days. Hell, I even changed my URL the day of the reveal to celebrate. It’s a fantastic thing and that shouldn’t be overlooked.

However, it’s not all good. And I think that the popularity Yuri on Ice and shows like it, such as the aforementioned Love Live School Idol Project, Hetalia, even Hibike! Euphonium depending on who you ask (though if you ask me, I believe there’s been enough confirmation from the staff to say they’re canon, but another post for another time there) creates and sets a bad standard for representation in media as a whole.

It’s the standard of “If it’s gay, it’s good.”

We, as fandoms, have an extremely bad habit of completely ignoring a show’s flaws, shortcomings, or queerbaitings if we either 1) see our pairing become canon (Yuri on Ice) or if the show is bait-y enough that all fans have to do is connect a couple dots (NozoEli, ChikaRiko, in Love Live).

Yuri on Ice is being hailed as this masterpiece that can do no wrong, has perfect characters, a deep story, and gorgeous animation.

I’m here to say that that’s simply not the case, that we’ve been blinded by the greatness that is Viktuuri, and how dangerous that is for LGBTQ+ representation going forward.

Firstly, the characters, while not bad, are relatively one-dimensional, save for perhaps Yuuri and Viktor. There’s not much complexity to Yurio’s “tough on the outside, soft on the inside” facade, and the majority of the other side characters in the show could be described pretty vaguely.

“The fanboy one from Thiland.”

“The hot guy people ship with Yurio”

“The one that looks like Pew-Die-Pie”

As for the animation, while I admire Mappa as a studio, and I think Zankyou no Terror/Terror in Resonance is one of the best animated shows ever, I think they really dropped the ball on Yuri on Ice.

I would ask that the only explanation that this point requires is for you all to take off your manservice glasses and look at how dopey most of the skating scenes are. If you want an ice skating scene, look up the one in Death Parade, a show by Studio Madhouse a year or two ago. (Honestly, please just go watch Death Parade, it’s such an underappriciated show as a whole)

The thing that really irks me, though, is when people say the story is this complex interweaving of perspectives and plot threads, when it’s really just a bunch of flashbacks through the lens of not one, but two whole characters, those being Yuuri and Viktor.

Think Yuri on Ice is a masterpiece for having two perspectives with flashbacks? Compare it to a show such as Durarara or Baccano. I’ve watched all the way through the former while I’m still working on the latter, so I’ll use it as an example.

Off the top of my head, I can think of twelve different perspectives that the show explores and fleshes out in twelve episodes (one more than YOI)

Namely, the perspectives of:

Shizuo Heiwajima, Izaya Orihara, Masaomi Kida, Mikado Ryuugamine, Simon the sushi dude, Celty Sturlenson, Shinra Kishitani, Anri Sonohara, Walker, Erica, Kyohei, and a fucking sentient sword.

All of those characters have well-established backstories, characters, and motivations after twelve episodes.

How many characters does Yuri on Ice flesh out to that extent? Yuri, Viktor, and Yurio.

I know what you’re thinking…at least I think I do- So, ok. Yuri on Ice isn’t as deep as the fandom says it is. Big whoop. Even still, the representation it so boldly carries with that makes up for all the shortcomings, right?

No. Representation does. not. equate. to quality.

And here’s why.

Since anime is my forte, I’ll be focusing on that, but again, this is applicable to all kinds of media Eastern, Western, or otherwise.

The single greatest motivating factor for any animation studio (or any company in general) to produce a show is how much money they can make on it. So naturally, they start looking for easily exploitable means to that end. One such means is the inability of fandoms such as ours to distinguish representation or baiting from quality.

Yuri on Ice is a now the standard for representation, but let’s be honest with ourselves, it’s kind of a shitty standard, at least compared to what it could be.

Like, think about it for a second– yeah, YOI is a fantastically entertaining show, but just imagine if you had a show that was, say, on the level of quality as some of the most critically acclaimed shows of all time with that sort of representation.

That’s a great thought, isn’t it?

Well until we as fandoms start to distinguish quality from representation, there will be very little opportunity, if any at all, for the quality of the media in which said representation takes place to grow.

I am sick and tired of scrolling through my dash to see text post, after fanfic, after comic, after whatever reducing either a canonically LGBTQ+ character or a character that’s commonly baited/implied/headcannoned as such be reduced to that and one other charactaristic.

Nozomi is gay and likes parfaits.

Eli is gay and is Russian.

Yuri is gay and likes Katsudon.

Rukako is trans and shy.

Umi is gay and has a stick up her ass.

Shizuo’s gay and strong.

You see where I’m going with this?

Like, I’m perfectly ok with joking around about these characters. That’s not what I’m talking about.

But when the prevailing works of media in a fandom are these stupid crack fics or fetishy artwork that’s justified under the context of the artist “exploring their sexuality” that do nothing to develop characters in meaningful ways, that’s a problem.

It’s a problem because the creators of mainstream media look at that and think that that’s all we as a community want– one-dimensional characters in easy-to-write shows that take no effort to create yet sell oodles of merchandise due to the fact that “it has gays in it.”

And you know what? It works. Because we as LGBTQ+ people are so starved of representation in the first place, we latch on to any representaton (or teasing thereof) that we see, even if it’s really shitty.

No. If something’s gay and cliche, than it’s still cliche and therefore as bad as something that’s straight and cliche. And until we get past the mentality that that’s not the case, we won’t see any drastic improvement in either the quality and/or quantity of good representation in media.

This post was created for the sole purpose of creating discussion and raising awareness to what I believe is a big issue. Please reply, reblog, send me an ask, whatever with your own opinion of things. I’d love to hear it.

See ya!

“Riley, hurry!” Maya yells from the comfort of her friends sofa, “It’s starting!”

“I’m coming!” Riley shouts back from the kitchen. The brunette bolts over with two cans of soda in hand.

The two best friends watch the season finale of their favourite reality tv show, ‘Reality High’. Each season has the same layout; it follows a number of students from the beginning of the year to the end of the year but the only difference being, when a new season begins the show would follow a new set of students in a new school and a new city. In it’s third season - the one the girls sit and watch now - it’s set somewhere in LA.

The two soon to be juniors sit with their eyes glued to the screen hanging off every bit of drama as it concludes their favourite season to date. When the show wraps up the girls are on the brink of tears watching their favourite of the students - A girl name Miranda - graduating.

After the end credits roll, Riley and Maya are about to enter a loud discussion about their thoughts on the finale when a clip pops up advertising the entry period for season four.

“Did that just say Abigail Adams High?” Riley’s mouth is agape as she stares at the television in disbelief.

“No way!” Maya springs up from the sofa in excitement, “Season four is being filmed at out high school?”

Riley squeals, “Maybe we’ll know the kids on the show!”

“Maybe we’ll be the kids on the show!” Maya jokes but secretly wishes for it to be true.
