The Boy On The Train

Request: I would really appreciate something about meeting the boys on a train, I have to ride one everyday and I wonder what it would be like if they came on and sat next to me

I sat on the back of the train, usually nobody would go there. I placed my things on the seat next to mine and took out my book, the one I had to read for my English class.

Surprisingly, I loved that book. I was never the one to like books that my teachers gave me, but this one was different. The author was amazing and I felt like I was literally in the book, it was as if I was one character.

More people got on the train, it was busier than usual. Maybe it was because we were on a Friday night, I had no idea. The back of the train that used to be empty eventually turned out to be pretty filled up.

Suddenly, I felt someone’s hand on my shoulder, causing me to lift my head. A tall guy with blonde hair and pale blue eyes was staring at me. He slowly took one earphone out before he glanced at my things.

“Can I sit there?” He asked. It took me a while to understand, handsome boys usually made my brain work slower.

“Um, yeah, sure,” I mumbled as I took my things and placed them on the floor beside my feet. He offered me a small smile before he sat down next to me and put his other earphone in his ear.

I leaned my head on the window and tried to subtly look at him. He looked great, I had to admit. He also did not look like a jerk, his short beard made him look a bit more mature.

My cheeks became crimson red the moment his eyes caught mine. I quickly concentrated on my book and started to read. After a few minutes, I had even forgotten that he was even here.

I had forgotten about him until I heard a chuckle escape his mouth. I slowly turned my head to look at him, but his blue eyes were glued to his phone screen. It seemed like he was watching something so I just ignored him and went back to my book.

“No,” he mumbled minutes later before I heard him laugh. I gave him a weird look and he suddenly realized he was on the train with other people. “Sorry,” he mumbled.

I gave him a small smile before I tried to read, but I was once again interrupted by the blue eyed boy.

“What’s so funny?” I asked when he took one earphone out.

“Sorry,” he appologized for the second time, “one of my friend filmed himself doing weird things. He’s an idiot.”

“Can I watch?” I found myself asking. It was unlike me to ask such thing, but I guess I thought I could finally enjoy my time on the train.

“Uh, yeah,” he smiled, “my friend is gonna hate me though,” he chuckled.

I took one of his earphone and waited for the boy the press the play button. Although his friend looked different from him; he had a darker shade of skin, brown eyes and brown hair, he was still very good-looking. The boy kept talking, singing and dancing. A few laughs escaped my mouth, I couldn’t help myself.

“Well, that was embarrassing,” he said at the end of the video.

“It wasn’t even you,” I chuckled.

“But still, he’s my friend,” the boy sighed. His eyes were still on his screen while I looked at him, a smile playing on my lips.

During the following minutes, we listened to some music together and made small talk. All of this reminded me my childhood. I mean, I was never the one to talk with strangers. But somehow we started talking because he was laughing and then everything followed. It was that easy, like friendships when I was younger.

As I got ready to get out of the train, he finally asked my name.

“I’m Luke,” he replied before he bit his lip. “Hey, if I asked for your number would I get it?” He asked as he held my gaze.

I frowned at his question, wondering why a guy like him would like to have my number. But my frown quickly turned into a smile as I realized the train was starting to slow down.

“Yeah, give me that,” I said as I took his phone and texted me from his phone. “There you go,” I smiled.

“Have a nice evening, Y/N,” he said.
