At the end of the next season, I want this weird tension between Joyce and officer Jim Hopper to go down. But maybe, he’s distant, because she has a boyfriend and because he’s scared about getting close to someone again after losing his daughter, and the divorce from his wife. Maybe, the way he keeps his distance is a little hostile. But he’s just doing what he thinks Is best for everyone else involved. But Joyce is probably left confused by his actions. Especially after the divorce from her husband, she doesn’t seem to be the type to give up without setting the situation straight. There’s professional, officer Jim Hopper, heroic for the sake of his friends John Hooper, and there’s the polite around other people Jim Hopper. But then, there’s a side to him that he doesn’t show to most people, that he reveals to her, little by little over the course of time. As much as he wants to do the right thing, there’s this undeniable pull towards Joyce, that no matter how much he tries to stay away, she’s apart of his world now, and he can’t stop seeing her. I can JUST imagine her entering his social bubble at every turn, to the point that he just turns to her one day, exploding.
Jim: “WHY DO YOU KEEP FOLLOWING ME?”
Joyce: “Following you?”
Jim: “You know what I mean. Why are you always looking for me? Seeking me out?”
Joyce *incredulous* “Last I knew, you were the chief of this town.”
Jim: “No, no. The other day when you came over with some ____, what was that for? A personal visit? Why are always coming to me? I’m, not your friend, Joyce. I helped you save your son, that’s all”
Joyce: “Not my— That’s right, you did help me save my son.”
You get my point. But something like this should happen. They’d probably have several strange moments where is begins amicable, but then is spoiled, one way or another.
Strange Magic Wedding Prompt: That Moment When Bog First Sees Marianne Walk Down the Isle
My heart flutters at the thought of him swooning, tearing up, having to keep it together and doing so by the barest thread of his own will, watching her float like mist on water.
Watching her wear a gown of Dark Forest petals and wonder if it was jealous of the comparison and competition when brought up next to her eyes that he could swim poetry in.
Watching her ease towards him on a walk far too long but not long enough- for if he could just pause this moment and watch it over and over again… but no. For even in its perfection -watching her and only watching her- there is nothing quite like her joining the space beside him as they bond their lives together in something already complete.
For marriage is not another step. They’d been married for so long. And yet it was different, then… watching her…
And it would be perfect.
And then my brains just like, lol, nah, you know it wouldn’t even be like that because dorks be dorks.
He’d stand there screaming “MARIANNE, MARIANNE WE’RE GETTIN’ MARRIED! MARIANNE HURRY YER ASS UP! MARIANNE I’M SO EXCITED! MARIANNE YEE’RE SO BEAUTIFUL AN’ I LOVE YE! NOW HURRY UP BECAUSE I’M EXCITED! NOW GET ON UP HERE AND MARRY ME!”
And Marianne is just like “you are the man I’ve chosen to love…”
All in all it’d be a wonderful wedding. Either way it turns out.
