Oncidium Tsiku Marguerite

It has a total of five spikes, and these super cute tiny little blooms smell just like vanilla >w< Unfortunately however, I believe this is a seedling of that cross, so it bloomed far more white and Twinkle-like than Tsiku Marguerite is supposed to. It still has a very faint pink blush in the center, and its so pretty, so I dont mind too much

Okay okay okay I know I panicked over the whole “LeFou is gay” thing, but I’ve seen it and I’ve got to say…they made it work. (SPOILERS) LeFou in this version is more of a good guy who fell in with a bad guy he rather quickly figures out is bad. He often tries to steer Gaston away from doing evil shit but gets ignored. He ditches Gaston for good and gets a happy ending, possibly with a boyfriend. It’s leaps and bounds better than I thought we would get, and it’s a good baby step in the right direction for Disney.

At university, I did English language with linguistic for my Bachelor of Arts, which was a three year course. Half split between English language and half split between linguistics, which is the science of language. It was quite scientific and it was very hard. I liked to think while I was doing my A-levels that I was quite good at work and exams and stuff like that. But doing linguistics was kind of like throwing me into the deep end because it was a completely new concept to me and there was so many different parts of it. I was good at some parts of it, I was good at the child language acquisition thing and also things with essays but there was a lot of science based analysing language using the IPA chart  and stuff like that and that was hard. And also I think I could have tried harder in my lectures. If I had been going back, I would have listened a bit more because I had a lot of late nights and then didn’t listen the next day, which is not the point. But anyway, I passed it! I got a degree. Yay! And then I went on, because I really loved York and I didn’t feel ready to leave it yet and then I was also really interested in video editing. I was making YouTube videos from my university room and I just wanted to get better at the whole filmmaking thing because it was a big interest of mine. So I did a MA in post-production with visual effects. And there was only eight people allowed on the course so it was quite a selective course. But I went for the interview and got on it! And was invited on it and they had a huge green screen set, loads of amazing editing suites that we were allowed to use whenever we wanted, and it seemed like such a cool thing and I went for it and I did it. And I made some things I was really proud of as well and I got to work with other creative people, which is rare to have people that are sharing your interests in that way. So I had a really good time and I’m glad I did it. And I know I don’t make films on my YouTube channel, they're just like YouTube videos but I like to know that I can edit things in a way that I fully understand the software and I know what I’m doing. You know what I mean? I could just be going ‘I don’t know what this mean?’ but I understand it which is good. So I did that.

@amazingphil during his live show on the 16th of March 2017

I think some people might forget about Phil’s time at university but I always feel so uplifted and happy whenever he talk about it, so I wanted to write this down for me to keep to look back on whenever I’m struggling at university.

TalesFromTheFrontDesk: That time I was one of the weird guests who didn't trust the motel

In my early 20s, I took a quick vacation to a coastal city where I only had time to book two nights. Being largely broke, I researched online to find the cheapest possible hotel with acceptable ratings, and I booked a room at an okay place: a highway-side motel with exterior balconies that had once been a pretty nice family getaway but was now a rung or two above hotels with a number after the name.

But there was a major hitch: despite reviews saying the staff was helpful and the parking lot was well-lighted etc. multiple reviews claimed that housekeeping had a habit of stealing items from rooms. It wasn’t just one or two snowflakes ranting - there were reviews going back for several years where guests complained that valuable stuff had gone missing and management had searched for it to no avail.

If I’d had more money, this (apparent) history of theft would have gotten the motel booted off my candidate list, but I was living at home while working full time in another town with a ninety minute commute, so I was grateful that I could have a vacation at all.

Anyway.

I check in and the front desk is friendly and super helpful, just like the online reviews promised. The room hasn’t been updated in twenty-five years and smells like the cigarette smoke from people who’ve long since died from emphysema, but I don’t care since I’m only using the place to crash.

Still, those reviews of housekeeper theft bother me. And so, me being way more anxious at the time than I am now, decide to stuff anything I considered “valuable” into my duffel bag and take it with me in my car when I go to the city proper. This, along with my backpack which I planned to take with me anyway, is pretty much all I brought on this trip.

When I get back to the motel in the evening, I try my key card in the door. It doesn’t work.

No big deal, I’ve stayed at hotels many times before, I know the drill. I go to the front desk.

Me: Excuse me, my card doesn’t work.

FD: Can I see your ID? What’s your room number?

Me: (shows her my ID) 222.

FD: (looks at the computer) It says here that you checked out.

Me: What?

FD: Yep. You are Carcharodon, right?

Me: I am.

FD: Yeah, Carcharodon checked out at 11:25 AM today.

Me: I don’t understand. I wasn’t anywhere near the office then. I paid for another night at this hotel.

FD: That’s what this says. “Guest checked out”.

For a moment, I have a horrific feeling that I’ve somehow crossed over into an alternate timeline where I had indeed checked out that morning, and now I was trapped outside both the confines of cause and effect and my place to spend the night.

FD: Hold on a second.

I wait for a few minutes and then the FDA comes back smiling. It turns out that I’d left so few items in the room - toiletries, a shaving kit, books and a couple articles of clothing - that housekeeping assumed I’d checked out. Thankfully they still had a room available (the same room I’d “checked out” of earlier) and they’d saved all my personal items, which the motel had sealed in individual Ziploc bags with my name and room number. FDA gave them to me one by one and it was like getting my belongings back after being released from prison.

tl;dr I was paranoid and didn’t trust housekeeping with my belongings, so housekeeping checked me out of my room.

From The Desk Of…

Go read this amazing, well written and beautifully executed story that will steal your heart from the get go.

The pictures above are my humble way of saying thank you to the wonderful writers @fictorium @bridgetteirish

One thing I absolutely loved though was getting to see Alec and Izzy go on a mission together! And I loved the big guy coming onto Izzy and Alec going Protective Big Bro™ but letting her be in charge and fight her own battle

Daphne, are you saying that you have feelings for Niles?
I think I do.

okay but Matt mercer is such a great DM, he listens to the conversation Percy and Vex have in episode 59, and tucks away the line “None of them are worth you” from Percy, so that next episode he can have Syldor say “I had hoped you would be worth more” to Vex and you know he threw that in cause he knew it would piss Percy off, he knew he would get something from that

i love this man, he’s so great
