i wish it could be true

Yana’s comment on ch130

Yesterday, Yana finally broke the silence and commented on the latest chapter. She also put an end to the “But what is our Ciel’s true name? How are we supposed to call him from now on!!???” problem:

Kuroshitsuji Ch130. Back when Snake joined the Phantomhives as a servant I considered him calling Ciel “Smile” just as a continuation of his habit [and didn’t think much about it], but I have the feeling that in this month’s chapter that habit turned out quite meaningful. You can’t really calculate everything when drawing a manga (I wish I could), so it makes me happy when sometimes things that I hadn’t really calculated later prove to fit in with the story well. Smile is [and will always be] Smile. - Toboso.

[**I think this tweet needs a little bit of an explanation (it took me some time to understand what she meant too haha xD):

So Yana is basically saying she never really put much thought into Snake’s habit of calling Ciel “Smile”, but in the latest chapter where our Ciel was confronted with a huge identity crisis and everyone was like “Who is this boy?? If he’s not “Ciel”, then how are we supposed to call him??”, Snake just kept calling him “Smile” as usual and this unexpectedly turned out quite “meaningful” in this specific situation.]

So yeah, to everyone who is still indecisive as to how to call our Ciel from now on, just call him “Smilebecause no matter what his true name is, for Snake he is and will always be “Smile” :)

Bonus:

I think this panel needs more appreciation, because it’s one of the very rare occasions where Snake spoke on his own without “… says Goethe/Wordsworth/Emily/etc”.

I honestly wish I could frame this ask and keep it forever?

I’m hoping it won’t be a cliffhanger for much longer! I’ve just been lacking inspiration I’m afraid! You honestly give me far too much credit?? But I am so flattered and just overwhelmed? I don’t think I’ve ever been referred to as ‘the best simblr page out there’ and God, I wish that was true :’) I’m so so glad you enjoy my stories and my blog, I love you so much right now?? ♥ I ♥ I am always so flattered when people say my blog inspires them and WOW, I just want you to know how wonderful you are?

How can someone be a good patient? I'm in the hospital a lot more than I'd like but I always try to say thank you and not use a call light unless I really need help with something, but I know nurses put up with so much and I wish there was something more I could do.

Dear Anon,

How can someone be a good patient? That’s a tough question and the true answer is likely more complex than the response I will provide.

A good patient can mean different things to different nurses, but I’ll try to hit what I believe are the highlights and let the rest of Tumblr nursing community fill in the gaps.

Medications

Yes, your medications may be scheduled at 9 a.m., but in most facilities, nurses can give that medication an hour before or after it’s scheduled time. This is because nurses have many other tasks and cannot always administer medications at the exact hour they’re due. And if there is a code on the floor, your nurse will likely be tied up for a considerable amount of time and may be late with your meds. Those situations are rare, but can and do happen.

We know that the pill we’re giving you doesn’t look like the pill you take at home, but it is the same drug, just a different shape.

Some nurses will disagree with this next tip, but I think it’s important as your healthcare provider: ask questions about your medications. I usually review the medications and dosages with my patients to make sure everything checks out with regards to their home medications. There have been a couple of times where I’ve had a patient tell me that they take more or less than the hospital-prescribe dosage and after checking with the medical team, we found a mistake had been made and the dosage adjusted. Some nurses prefer that a patient just be quiet and take the medication because the med pass will go faster, but that’s not in the best interested of the patient.

You, as a patient, have a right to refuse any medication. Do not just swallow pills without knowing why. Don’t ever let a member of your healthcare team tell you that you “have to take this,” because as long as you are of sound mind, you have the right to refuse any medication or treatment. Again, this isn’t what some nurses want to deal with, but a good nurse will be patient with the patient (ha!) and try to explain the need for the medication.

Call Bell

The call bell is not room service or a direct line to a concierge. It’s a hospital, not a hotel, contrary to what HCAHPS scores (I hate them with a passion) encourage. If you need to use the bathroom and require assistance, use the call bell. If you have new onset of pain or other symptoms, use the call bell. If you’ve had an accident in the bed, use the call bell. If it’s something truly urgent, use the call bell. If it can wait until we check in on you, then perhaps wait. Of course, this is all common sense if you ask me and I don’t think this advice will do anything to change how patients behave. Those with common sense and respect for their medical team will not use the call bell except when needed. And those who abuse the call bell and feel entitled will continue to use the call bell excessively and become annoyed and unpleasant if their “needs” are not met immediately.

Respect the Nurses

Most people seem to think that nurses work for the doctors. Wrong. Nurses work with the doctors. I can’t speak for all nurses, but I have eight years of college, one year of residency, and more than 1400 clinical hours before I even sat for my national licensure exam (NCLEX). I am known throughout the medical team as having the most thorough physical exams of any nurse or doctor at my hospital. As a result, I’ve had doctors come back to re-examine a patient and find previously undiagnosed conditions. While I am still learning (we never stop really), I know my shit and I’m good at my job. Just because I chose not to become a doctor does not mean that I am not intelligent.

Doctors, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, X-ray techs, lab techs, PT/OT, respiratory, and many others make up a collectively highly-trained and educated medical team. Medicine is NOT an exact science. We do our best to treat what we believe to be the cause of your condition, but sometimes it takes some time to find the true etiology of an illness.

Conclusion

It sounds to me like you are a good patient. The type of patient a person is depends largely on what kind of human being they are. If a person is an asshole outside of the hospital, they’ll probably be an asshole in the hospital. If a person is kind, thoughtful, and respectful outside the hospital, they’ll probably be the same as a patient.

That being said, I think by educating all patients - and not that bullshit brochure patients get when they’re admitted - but a true, come-to-Jesus, heart-to-heart education, we may be able to have better overall patient/medical team interactions and experience.

Thank you for the question! I know this answer may seem longer than I initially let on, but it’s still just a drop in the bucket of what I could write. I’m hoping the nursing community on Tumblr (nurblrs) will contribute to the discussion.

My friend, colleague, and fellow Harry Potter fanactic @freshrn wrote a book titled “Admit One: What you must know when going to the hospital” that addresses this topic. Check it out!

Sincerely,
Mursenary Gary

I found a some wish bracelets that say things like love and fame, and you're supposed to wish on them, and wear them until they fall off. When they fall off, your wish comes true. Do you have any ideas on how to incorporate them into spells? Maybe ones that don't involve wearing the bracelets? Thanks! I love this blog! 💙💙💙

That kind of sounds like a spell in itself, really!

You could wrap those bracelets around a spell jar that contains your wish. You could honestly even cut the bracelet and use the individual beads as spell ingredients. Like, every time you put a bead in a jar, you make your wish to give it more power.

Depending on how they are, maybe you can use them to tie bags? Or you could charm them with magical water or incense and carry them around in a bag. You’ve got some flexibility here; so many choices!! ( ≧ ω ≦ )

salvainterra  asked:

i love mob so much please for the love of god tell me about ur feelings on 100% ecstasy

OH BOY WILL I !!! ABSOLUTELY 100% (pun unintended but warmly embraced)

out of all the 100% events, ecstasy is my favorite. the drama… the tragedy… will fiction EVER peak like this again? i don’t think so. but BEFORE I DELVE INTO ALL OF THAT, there’s something i want to talk about first: mob’s psychic powers as an expression of his emotions.

we all know that mob suppresses his emotions to avoid outbursts of psychic power. but THAT implies that mob’s psychic power is a form of self expression, in the same way that body language is expression.

he can direct his psychic powers – the same way we can direct our bodies’ actions – but there are other components that are difficult to stop, similar to how people’s shoulders tend to hunch when they’re angry or upset, how they subconsciously cross their arms and direct their feet away when something is making them uncomfortable, etc.

unless you know about these bits of body language, and make a deliberate attempt to suppress them, it’s difficult to stop your body from revealing something about your emotions. similarly, one function of mob’s psychic power is as an extension of the way he expresses himself. these things happen subconsciously and mostly without mob’s control.

for example, one of the trademarks of mob’s 100% events is that mob starts releasing waves of psychic power that push his hair back. other side effects include cracking the ground under him, often to dramatic effect.

mob doesn’t push his hair up on purpose, it’s just something that happens – as a result of him releasing his pent-up emotions in the form of psychic power. these little bits of expression aren’t something he can control.

mob also says something REALLY INTERESTING in his first 100% event:

during 100% rage mob uses his psychic powers to fight dimple, yes, but these lines suggest that his outburst of power happened because he finally had to express his anger. and that implies that, in order to show his emotions, and express himself, mob has to use his psychic powers.

which is something he almost never allows himself to do.

never forget the disdain / loathing mob had for himself at the beginning of the manga, and how convinced he was that he couldn’t allow himself to express himself OTHERWISE SOMETHING LIKE THIS WOULD HAPPEN.

further material to consider: the lines that he said right before his 100% animosity / hostility event

hostility…

at this point, mob hasn’t taken any action against koyama yet. his outburst of psychic power, radiating outward and blanketing the area, is not doing anything but expressing his hostility – to the extent that mob expects koyama to be able to feel it.

in addition to that, during mob’s fight with toichirou, he cycles rapidly through a LOT of emotions, and this is what he says about it:

canon suggests that it’s not just a buildup of of emotions that cause his powers to run amok; allowing his powers to run amok also allows himself to feel the full intensity of his emotions. his psychic powers are key to expressing himself.

I COULD GO ON… but i’ll just leave things here for now. to summarize: mob subconsciously uses his psychic powers to express his emotions, which is why suppressing his emotions also suppresses his psychic powers.

figure 1: a helpful venn diagram of things

which brings us to the REALLY SAD, BITTERSWEET, MOURNFUL TRAGEDY THAT IS 100% ECSTASY.

the fight against toichirou is possibly the first time mob has been able to fully utilize his psychic powers. the first time he’s had to, even. all the unconscious limits he’s put on himself – not allowing his psychic power to go free, stifling his emotions and powers – all come undone.

mob is allowing himself to be himself, wholly and fully. he’s removed his inhibitions. he’s running wild and free. he’s no longer expending energy trying to regulate his psychic powers – he’s allowing himself to feel. this intensity of emotion and action is something mob has never given himself before, and the freedom of it… feels good. incredibly so. he feels free, he feels alive, and toichirou – the only individual to ever stand on a level close to mob’s – understands perfectly.

this is a level of joy mob has never felt before.

the release of his psychic power even comes hand in hand with mob’s body language becoming much freer and more expressive than it is in daily life. look at him go!! mob, for the first time in years… letting himself feel the intensity of his emotions, just as they really are.

but of course his happiness isn’t going to last

because mob wants to be a part of society, and he thinks he has to keep his psychic powers sequestered away in order to do that. his greatest fear is accidentally hurting the people he loves with his own psychic power, and when he remembers that possibility…

the tragedy of 100% ecstasy is that – for just a brief moment, mob released himself from his self-imposed limits. for a moment, he let himself really feel, he let himself be, and in that moment he experienced a richness, an intensity, a moment of being so utterly present and alive that it brought himself to heights he’d never reached before.

and mob will never willingly allow himself to do that ever again.

If you have the time and if you don't mind, what are some books you really recommend? Doesn't have to be all time faves, but anything that pops into mind that you want more ppl to read and love, Extra points if lgbt+ , i got the whole summer with little to do and i wanna spend it reading some good quality writing and honestly so far your recs have introduced me to so many faves its unbelievable

[blushes profusely] oh wow, thank you!!!  i’m so glad you’ve trusted me enough to check out some of the stuff i reblog; that is like the ultimate compliment, i can’t even???  i don’t mind at all(!), fair warning though: i only started recording what i read partway through last year and my mind is like a sieve so i’ll do my absolute best to remember what’s sang to me in the recent past.  warning number two: i’m in an open relationship with absolutely every genre out there so i’ll try to note which belongs where so you can avoid those that hold no interest for you.

LGBT+

  • i’ll give you the sun.  i loved this book, the writing is fucking transformative and all the characters are so damn likable, while still being realistically flawed human beings.
  • the raven cycle (tetralogy).  definitely my favorite series since harry potter.  the writing, the world-building, the characters, it’s all on top-form.  i wrote a little, mini non-spoilery review of it: here, back when i was better (worse?) wordly-wise and my feels were brand new.
  • more happy than not.  i’m still not sure how i feel about this book.  it was hard, but it felt very true to the characters and the lingo and style matched the ages of the players and i have a lot of respect for that.
  • the watchmaker of filigree street.  woooow i loved this book.  i admit ‘historical fiction’ kind of makes me cringe.  it never precludes me from reading a book but it does knock it down the list by a book or five because they’re often very dense and very clunky and end up taking me ages to get through.  but this one was gorgeous.  i loved the plot, the attention lovingly placed on every character and the historical elements.  the surprise gay in an already brilliant book felt like winning the lottery honestly.
  • captive prince (trilogy).  okay, truthfully, i’m only putting this on here because the second book is such a high point for me.  it was never bad at any point but it had unfortunately been hyped far too much for it to live up to my, admittedly, very high expectations.  hopefully it’ll fare better with you?
  • everything i never told you.  i go back and forth on this one.  i like the writing a lot, i like the LGBT aspect a lot, and i like the mystery aspect a lot but there are definitely characters i would cut out entirely for sheer predictability if i could and that killed a lot of my enjoyment at the time (but i think much more highly of it in retrospect?).  so, take that as you like.
  • aristotle and dante discover the secrets of the universe.  if there’s a book that handles its characters with more care or respect or consideration then i haven’t run into it.  i love the way this is written and the people it’s populated with.
  • flying lessons & other stories.  a bunch of uber talented authors writing a bunch of uber diverse and LGBT-focused stories and, yes, that is exactly as awesome as it sounds.
  • the song of achilles.  it is utterly heart-breaking but so rich, honestly.

FANTASY

  • the diviners.  (also has a minor LGBT character, who may play a bigger role in the sequel?)  fair warning, i have not read the sequel, lair of dreams, because it is somehow still not out in paperback (yes, i read physical books, yes, i pretty exclusively read paperbacks so i can lug them everywhere with me, YES, I PRE-ORDERED THIS ALMOST TWO YEARS AGO AND IT’S STILL NOT OUT, NOT THAT I’M BITTER ABOUT THAT OR ANYTHING) so i can’t speak to that one finishing on a high note as i don’t know.  but this was the first historical novel i managed to like in a long while.  it does such a good job of fusing in 1920s lingo and dress and aspects that i couldn’t help but love it.  add in the fantasy elements and i can admit i’m the perfect sucker for it.
  • the scorpio races.  i’m not sure why but it took me a long-ass time to get into this book, i wasn’t flipping pages with gusto until well towards the end but - especially as i was reading so much YA at the time - i really appreciated coming across a romance that lets both people come into it as themselves and stay themselves, neither puck nor sean were ever smashed or crumpled or shaved away to fit into their relationship, which was so refreshing.  plus the water horses were fucking cool.
  • the night circus.  the writing, the atmosphere, the circus.  just… it is all very whoa.
  • all the birds in the sky.  i loved this writing style and these characters and the magical elements.

CONTEMPORARY

  • i’ll meet you there.  there was something about this and i just… ended up liking it way more than i expected to.  i might’ve just read it at exactly the right time, i’m not sure, but i really enjoyed it.
  • the invoice.  this is honestly just hella cute and so freaking surreal.  swedes, man.

NON-FICTION

  • why not me?  i like mindy kaling a lot.  i make no apologies for that.  plus you can read both her books in about five seconds, haha.

SCIENCE FICTION

  • station eleven.  i loved this book.  the way the narrative is woven is so refreshing and i wish the comic book miranda was writing in this book was a real thing more than anything else in the woooorld.
  • illuminae.  hot DAMN this book was cool.  the plot was rock solid, the characters were hilarious and badass and the graphics made out of text and spiraling words and just the way this thing is put together?  shit, it’s worth your money and then some.
  • a robot in the garden.  okay this is just cute as hell.  i can’t even with tang, he’s the most adorable robot to ever adorable.
  • annihilation (southern reach trilogy).  (LGBT minor characters.)  okay, honestly?  i don’t know.  this was freaking zany but i was invested as fuck in all the kookiness for reasons i can’t articulately elaborate on.
  • the martian.  hilarious, engaging, SPACE.  what more do you want?

HORROR

  • things we lost in the fire.  this is more atmospheric than anything but, damn, could this get me wishing i wasn’t reading this in the dark or looking over my shoulder to make absolutely sure no one was standing behind me.  it’s a book of short stories (by the way, i love books of short stories and i definitely realize that is not true for everyone) and each one is so well-delivered and stylized.  i really enjoyed reading this.
  • let the right one in.  okay, this is legit horror so definitely stay away if you’re easily squicked out but it is harrrrrd to find good horror (at least in my opinion) and this definitely, definitely qualifies.
  • horrorstör.  i honestly had such low expectations for this, a horror story set in a wannabe-ikea, but it ended up being so ridiculous and strange and funny that i was won over by the finish.
  • the girl with all the gifts.  holy unique and well-executed zombie idea, batman!

SHORT STORIES

  • the bigness of the world.  there were definitely ones here that hit better than others but the ones i liked, i really liked!

GRAPHIC NOVELS (i read a lot of these so, um, prepare yourself)

  • saga.  (LGBT minor characters as well.)  this is world-building to a degree that i’m convinced did not exist before.  just, i can’t say enough amazing things about this series and the staggering amount of imagination that regularly goes into it.
  • ms. marvel.  heart-warming as fuck.  it’s definitely really easy to lose faith in the world these days, luckily kamala is there to remind you that people are primarily and genuinely good.
  • black science.  this is another one that took just an insane amount of imagination to cook up.  i got off to kind of a rocky start with this one but the gray-ness of all the characters really speaks to me, and that doesn’t really blossom until later in the series.
  • spider-man/deadpool.  this was very satisfying for my super duper spideypool-shipping mind.  joe and ed did us so good, and joe basically said in his sign-off: i made it absolutely as gay as they would let me, haha.
  • the wicked + the divine.  (LGBT minor characters that you’re going to get way too attached to, and retroactively.  it’s awful [sobs].)  the concept for this, gods reincarnating into teenagers before they burn up their hosts after a predetermined set of time, is so fucking cool.  the humor and the characters and the plot is all just aces.
  • iceman (LGBT MAIN CHARACTER).  okay, so this just started.  like issue #2 was only released days ago but 1) i am liking it so far and 2) marvel did it so dirty and barely advertised bobby - an openly homosexual superhero - was getting his own series, like, i found out about it the day before it went on sale and i keep my ear fairly close to the ground (not as close as some BY A LOT, but closer than the lay person i’d say) so if you can support it, please do!  pre-orders mean a lot in terms of numbers. :))))
  • descender.  admittedly, this starts out rooough.  because the main character, TIM-21 (and his little dog too), are annoying as hell.  he’s an android so there’s no dimension to him so he’s booooring as all get out but i am so glad i stuck with it through to the next trade because, probably picking up on the unsustainability of him as a main character, he gets shuffled off and the side characters get the stage and they rock so hard.
  • paper girls. (LGBT main characters.)  i’m kind of just convinced that brian k. vaughan can do no wrong at this point.  his plots are so tight and mind-blowing and badass.
  • monstress.  here’s a little tid-bit about me: female comic book writers are 100% more likely to get my money and my time because they are so damn rare and this series is unique, badass, and eye-opening.
  • black monday murders.  i’m a little premature with this since there’s only one volume and i usually try to wait until there are at least two but i check up on a volume two a lot so that definitely means something intrigued me!
  • nailbiter.  okay, i haven’t read the final volume yet ‘cause i’m reluctant to let it go but, so far, a series about multiple serial killers all being from the same town has me VERY HOOKED.

i wish i could remember more but this is honestly way better than i expected to do, haha.  they’re definitely not all my all-time faves but they’re ones that have stuck with me for one reason or another and that i didn’t feel i wasted my time on, so that’s something, right?  i hope this helps get you started and that you don’t think too awfully of me when you inevitably run across ones that aren’t your cup of tea!

I was born a natural born empath as was my mom. When you tell people what it is, they often first talk about how cool it is and how you could see if someone likes you or how you can tell if someone is lying to you. However, those points are not necessarily true and being an empath can truly be a double-edged sword. Us empaths are often over-sensitive to certain stimuli and it can be 100% confusing. Growing up, I wish I had known some methods to help.

So here are some tips for Empaths:

  • Avoid crowds when possible. Tons of people and their influx of emotions will surge your senses.
  • Look up movie summaries (if you are okay with potential spoilers) before going to see any to know if there is any tragedy or gore.
  • Use x-kit’s blacklist function if news of tragedy that circulates through tumblr becomes too much.
  • Mindless games are a great distraction and way to occupy your mind over something else
  • Meditation helps with sorting out which emotions are yours and which are not.
  • Try this grounding ritual: Visualize a light surrounding you. It’s keeping you in and everything out but comfortable. Then imagine roots coming out of you. Imagine them going into the ground and holding place. Feel how strong the roots are with holding you to the ground. No wind or force can easily push you over.
  • Learn how to block out emotions. I imagine a bubble around me when I go out. Everyone has different methods.
  • Keep a journal or at least write somewhere to help you sort things out or to reference to later
  • REMEMBER: IT IS NOT YOUR RESPONSIBILITY\YOU ARE NOT OBLIGATED TO HELP EVERYONE. IT IS LITERALLY IMPOSSIBLE and can be detrimental to your health

not that I don’t love larry questions because i do but i just wish sometimes that they would just ask him about louis normally like, “hey bty is coming out the same day as dunkirk are you excited to hear it ? have you heard it already ?” idk like i think its kinda strange that they only ask about louis in a jokey “oh fans think blah blah blah” way STILL as if they dont have anything to connect harry to louis except via fan theories like about sweet creature or the hand thing when thats not true they are both releasing big projects this friday and they could be mentioned normally if they really wanted to, the fan stuff to bring up larry is cool like that doesn’t bother me we get used for this shit all the time i just wish i could hear them talk about eachother like seriously like i would’ve loved hearing harry talking about how he heard the song already or how he was excited to hear it this Friday just like i would love to know what song is louis fave from harrys album or hear him talk excitedly about Dunkirk - i rather have that then have them squirm around some random fan larry question … but i guess that’s just me lol.

In Defense of Kudos

Confession- Kudos make me HAPPY.

I keep every story comment and every Kudos email from Ao3.

That one click per reader is a good thing. I’m blessed that they come regularly, nearly every day.  It gives me a lift to see a new person leave kudos on more than one of my stories.  I ‘SQUEE’ and say, for instance, “Hey there, ClockWeasel.  Welcome! Thank you for all the love!  I wish I could hug you right now.”  :)  It tells me they liked one of my stories enough that they looked for more from me.

It makes me want to finish WIPS and write more stories.

So, yeah, comments and reblogs are AMAZING.  It’s a dream come true to read a thoughtful question or insight RE a story that I put thought and time and effort into.

But, Kudos matter, too.

Thank you to every reader who has given me the gift of Kudos!
