i will serve you

anonymous asked:

Ah yes, the "I'm walking out, complaining loudly cause I didn't get served and couldn't wait couple more minutes. You just lost a customer, I'm never shopping here again" routine. I know we're understaffed and there are customers everywhere. Buddy, take it to management. It's out of my hands. I'm just the cashier.

I hand out business cards with corporate’s number and ask that they please complain to them as they are the ones not allowing us to have enough people working to adequately help all the customers. Hardly anyone calls. When they do I get a nasty call from our DM. I only get maybe one or two nasty calls a month so almost no one complains beyond the cashier level.

If you dislike Gal Godot for her past service in the IDF, that is entirely your prerogative.

If you dislike Gal Godot for her support of IDF initiatives during Protective Edge, that is also your prerogative.

I am not going to tell you how to feel about that; you are entitled to make your own judgments as informed by your personal values.

But if you use those judgments as a platform to spread falsehoods—especially ones that rooted in anti-Semitic tropes about how Jewish people are evil child murderers—then you and I are going to have a fucking problem.

Gal Godot spent her time in the IDF as a fitness instructor, not as a sniper. She never saw combat, never shot any children, and certainly did not have kill notches on her rifle. She did not brag about killing Palestinians. She did not say “I want them all dead.”

She did make a post in 2014 that supported people in the IDF for “protecting my country against the horrific acts conducted by Hamas, who are hiding like cowards behind women and children” and tagged it with a few phrases including #loveidf and #coexistence. Now, again, maybe her support is antithetical to your beliefs, and I’m not here to lecture you on that. But no, she did not post anything about “praying for Palestinians to die quickly” or brag about killing people’s families.

If her actual involvement with and statements about the IDF are things you find unsavoury, then fine; but if that’s the case, then you shouldn’t need to make up lies that evoke historical anti-Semitism to drive home your points.

The things you oppose should hold up as they already are—otherwise, you’re effectively conceding that the things you don’t like aren’t bad enough to warrant your reaction on their own.

For example, I don’t like the football player Luis Suarez because, despite being a talented goalscorer, he has a weird, creepy history of biting his opponents during matches. Now, this is a total valid reason not to like a professional athlete, so I have no cause to gild the lily. I don’t need to say “Well, actually I don’t like Luis Suarez because when he was at Liverpool he ate a Manchester United player’s liver with some fava beans and a nice chianti,” because his actual behaviour is aggressive, unprofessional, and straight up bizarre—meaning I don’t need to embellish the truth in order to be justified in how I feel about him.

If you think serving in the IDF is bad, then just say “I don’t like Gal Godot because I think serving in the IDF is bad.” Don’t make shit up, don’t exaggerate the truth. Otherwise it looks an awful lot like you’re deliberately going out of your way to insinuate that Jewish people are evil child murderers, which says a lot more about you than it does about Gal Godot.

On that note, please make sure that you are also holding Adam Driver accountable with equal gusto for serving in the Marine Corps and continually supporting the U.S. armed forces by boycotting the new Star Wars movies. Again, you are totally entitled to dislike the military, especially in relation to conflicts ongoing conflicts that have had horrible effects on the Middle East, but not when it’s only against the j00z and nobody else.

Color Reference Guide to Recognize & Avoid Whitewashing

I’ve made a tutorial on how to color adjust to fix washed out coloringsbut I noticed people aren’t always sure when their coloring needs fixing in the first place. So I’ve made a bunch of colorings you can use to compare your own to. It’s designed to help avoid whitewashing, but also help avoid over-correction.

If you’re not a content creator, you can also use this guide for reblogging as well. :)

Using the Guide

  • Each set comes in three: cool, neutral, and warm. If your coloring is bluer/whiter than the cool tone, consider readjusting.
  • Examples of what might be too pale/bright are beneath each set
  • There are various categories (daytime, night scenes, etc) for each type of scene you might encounter
  • Each coloring has a color palette beneath for the highlights, midtones, and shadows of the character’s face. If you’re having trouble eyeballing it, use the eyedropper tool to double check.

NOTES
1) For the sake of simplicity, I’ve used one character per category, but characters of color are not interchangeable. Identify the skin tone for the character you’re coloring and work with that. This is only meant to give a frame of reference for what is and isn’t whitewashing

2) If any of the colorings look different than what they’ve been stated as (i.e. the cool tones look too warm or some look way too dark to be visible) calibrate your monitor. It means your screen color and gamma needs readjustment.

Guide itself is under the read more!

We’re only six days into Pride Month and I’m already so tired of the increased ace/aro discourse that’s been going down on here.

So I want to tell my ace and/or aro followers and mutuals: You are valid. You belong in LGBTQ+ spaces. This includes het aces and het aros. None of you deserve any of the hate, bigotry and harassment that you are facing. I support you as an ally, and I hope that my blog serves as a safe space for you.

I am here for you.

How to Survive a trip to IKEA
  • Never go alone- bring a partner. Travel in pairs
  • Before entering, ensure that someone not entering knows you are going in, and when you expect to be out
  • Before entering, determine the cause of your mission- your mission objective. Bookcase? Couch? Oven? Meatballs? Figure it out
  • Upon entering, locate The Path
  • Do not disengage from The Path until you have reached your mission destination. Many have been lost forever to the wilds of IKEA by not obeying this. Very few are ever located again by the sparse store employees.
  • Upon reaching your mission destination, you may disengage from The Path ONLY when accompanied by your partner (physical contact should be maintained- ie, holding hands, holding shirt sleeve, both holding an end of a rope, etc)
  • When you disengage from The Path to acquire the data for your mission objective (ie, the item number for the bookcase, couch, meatballs, etc), it becomes your partner’s responsibility to maintain visual contact with The Path. Much like weeping angel statues, The Path will move if not actively being watched. This will strand you and your partner in the wilds of IKEA, so ensure you choose a partner wisely.
  • Upon acquiring the mission objective data (ie the item number), navigate back to The Path. You may disengage physical contact with your partner once you have safely returned to The Path
  • Do not leave The Path again. It will naturally end at the warehouse/stock section. This is a long, huge hall with many branches.
  • At the entrance of the warehouse section, acquire a cart if necessary. Using your item coordinates, locate your mission objective. Do not leave the main hallway except for the branch where your item is located. Like The Path, the wilds of IKEA sometimes sneak up on travelers that wander the warehouse section
  • Once your item has been loaded, head to the check out section. Do not touch anything in the boxes along the way. They appear to be full of candles or stuffed animals or useful kitchenware; it is a ruse. They are carnivorous.
  • After checking out, exit to the loading area. Load your item, and leave.
  • Do not look in your rearview mirror as you leave. It shouldn’t pursue you if you don’t look back.

this is not goodbye
this is not the end
this is good luck

Today’s a day that a lot of us have been dreading for a long time. Today, TOP begins his military service. There’s a lot of emotion going around at the moment as the prospect of no TOP for two years becomes reality.

But I am not sad. Sure I worry for his health and safety, but that’s a natural part of my anxious nature. Instead, I see this as a day of courage. TOP, like every able-bodied man in Korea, has a duty to his country to fulfil. It is a scary thing to face, not only for us but for him too. We’ve seen him lose weight and heard stories of his tears and it hurt my heart to have seen him like this.

We all have to face frightening things in our life. For example, I have an intense phobia of needles. Everything about them - the sharpness, the cold steel, the pain and invasion of my body - makes me want to run and hide and never face them. But I also know that vaccinations are vital to protecting not only my health but the health of others around me through herd immunity. So no matter how scared I am of needles, I still get them. Because it’s something that needs to be done.

See this time of TOP’s service as a vaccination. It’s important for him to do for his country and even though you may not want him to go away, it has to happen. And, like vaccinations, it’ll be over before you even know it.

TOP is a strong, loyal, capable man and even though it’s only the first day, I am already so proud of him. I hope he will serve well and stay healthy and happy throughout these next 2 years.

Good luck, Choi Seunghyun. <3
