i will never take art seriously

3

@nebulousneko and i have solidly decided that Magic Kaito and 2DPV Ladybug take place in the same magical anime universe (and i’ve been meaning to draw a bunch of stuff for it for aaages but never got around to it)

coming to paris was a horrible idea, kaito; these particular gems seriously aren’t worth it no matter how magical akako said they were

Okay so @soltserra had the best idea to combine all my favorite things (Glowing tattoos, constellations, and Allura) into one amazing AU so naturally I had to do some fanart (with permission) of it!! Seriously you should go and follow them right now

You can never go wrong with space and glitter, as I always say

Why yes I did spend the entire Saturday Drawing Aizawas.
His man bun in the latest chapter though… I thought he might be a character who covers their face with their hair no matter what but he actually sees the effort to look nice for the parents. uvu

Problems with the Witchblr Community

There are some serious fucking problems occurring on this website, like:

  1. Peoples’ grimoires are way too artistic. Like seriously you all need to tag that shit like “hey this may trigger you because this Van Gogh beautifully-crafted art style might blind you and gush your morality with its beauty and cause your perspective of your own grimoire/BOS to wilt like a flower on fire”. I don’t take the time to even update my BOS, never mind decorate it with these gorgeous illustrations.
  2. The quality of pictures are way too high. I don’t know where people are getting all these professional cameras. Like I take pictures with my phone or shitty Samsung and post them, and I know I wouldn’t even reblog that shit, the quality is way too low. This results in a standard of high quality Instagram-worthy pictures that is too high for me to keep up with, y’all need to lower your photography skills.
  3. Peoples’ altars are too perfectly positioned in the sunlight, like bathing in the holiness of the sun or moon and washing any of vestige of mortality away from that spot. This kinda weaves into the photography complaint but basically, y’all stop being so artsy.
  4. Digital sigils are too easily and perfectly displayed. I don’t know how people make those sigils, it’s like an elusive angelic society that just sprinkles down talent and useful spells like falling stars. Seriously y’all need to post a how-to on that shit because I don’t have a tablet and just take pictures of hand-drawn sigils, but even those who post their hand-drawn sigils draw them incredibly better than I draw my sigils.
  5. The witches on this site are way too creative. They’re all thinking of tips and techniques I never thought of before, and it makes everyone else feel dumb because they didn’t think of them first.
  6. Pretty much every witch on this site seems to have a green thumb. They say taking care of plants doesn’t require a green thumb, but I beg to differ because pretty much every plant I own dies. Like I don’t know if it’s because I’m a death witch and am literally radiating death energy, but I can’t keep plants alive for my own life. Green witches gotta share their real secrets, HOW are you keeping your plants alive.
  7. Then there are some problems like elitism, transphobia, homophobia, racism, nazism, blatant disrespect for peoples’ religions and cultures, the hatred with which we argue, and the fear that I’m always being scrutinized and that no matter what I say extreme SJWs will cherry-pick the things I say and misconstrue my argument into something i never said in the first place so i might as well just not even say my opinion on anything which i’m doing right now so i’ll just shut up and continue the joke
  8. The spooky and ethereal Witch Aesthetic™ is too on point. All the hanging herbs and lit candles and smoke from incense are too entrancing and immediately calm my mood and cause me to daydream about the eloquence of the witchy aesthetic. It’s too romanticized. It causes me to enjoy my own craft too much, and I reblog too many of them. We need to cut those down by a bunch.

Just had to get that off my chest.

re: artists working themselves to death and why the HECK is this the standard

the entire thing about the death of an animator in japan due to overwork is exactly why i am completing chapter 1 of 1989nk in months, not weeks.

this has been one of my biggest fears getting this project off the ground. the standard for work output by artists is set so fucking high nowadays. we’re ALL expected to perform at the level of the outlier. (This was apparent to me as early as in Art School, when we were all treated like we were absolutely fucking useless for not being able to do an entire 5 minute 3D animated film all by ourselves like that one guy in our program.) Artists who overwork themselves and overachieve (whether by perceived necessity or choice) unfortunately create an illusion to consumers and employers that their level of performance should be the standard. It creates a nasty cycle, because more artists start trying to adhere to that standard and it gets passed on and on and on.

i’m honestly fully expecting my deadline for chapter one to be too long of a wait for some people. “This other artist got their 30-40 page comic done in 6-8 weeks, why is yours going to take 6-8 months?”

listen, its because i don’t want to not be able to draw for the rest of my life at 30. I dont want to destroy my wrist and make myself ill and make the quality of the comic suffer because i have to live up to the vicious overwork cycle that’s completely blanketed the digital art/media/comics scene. If another artist takes only a few weeks to do their comic? Fine, but you know, theyre most likely suffering BADLY for it, and even THEY shouldn’t have to do that. They really, really shouldn’t. Overwork and over achievement frankly needs to stop being praised and heralded, because its not only extremely damaging to the artist themselves, but it also creates that cycle i mentioned.

Trying to keep up with the immense production quantity and speed that other artists seem to be doing has never, ever been possible for me and I’ve occasionally tried, only to seriously break myself. Even the amount of work I do is considered a lot by some, so then how is it that to me, it always feels like chicken scratch? It feels like i’m STILL not doing enough, ever. Even with the amount of work I do, I still feel like a lazy sack of shit and feel crippling guilt when I’m taking a break to do anything else but draw. I constantly feel like I’m losing the race. That isn’t right. That isn’t fair.

i just really, really hope that people don’t see my production time for 1989nk and go “that’s too long, artists don’t take THAT long to do work” because. well. honestly, they should.

Besides everything that I have going on the side, I want to raise some awareness about a specific person.
I am not usually one for drama but when it concerns friends and mutuals I have VERY STRONG FEELINGS on art theft and reposting! Especially when I can help it!!

There was a post floating around here:
https://www.tumblr.com/dashboard/blog/magearchivist/158820265052

I instantly recognized this as Simika’s wonderful artwork and I was irritated to see it on here. Just because you put a tiny source link does not mean it is okay to repost without permission! Unless permission is explicitly given you should. not. do. it.

So I messaged this person, you can see the conversation I had with them. They seemed…… ok? Very formal, but all that did was sugar-coat their really selfish intentions. I ended up speaking with Simika about this, as you can see from the screenshot below, as they are one of my mutuals…. I got clear instructions to ask them to take it down. So I sent the screenshot. This very “formal and polite” person who “takes art theft very seriously” blocked me shortly afterwards. They did not take the post down.

… What to do? I’m furious. I cannot report artwork that isn’t my own and Simika does not know English. If maybe you can send them an ask asking them to take down the artwork… I do not suggest attacking, that is never acceptable, but there is a lesson here as well….. Just because you source does not make it okay to repost….. Especially when the artist says so.

(sigh
it is such a problem, I am frustrated and unsure what to do at this point.

Rebuilt: Arrow 5x22 Review (Missing)

“Missing” was amazing! Emotional and action packed with zinging dialogue.

What struck me most was how full circle it was. “Missing” sets up the heroes versus villains battle that will come to fruition in the finale, but it also kicks off the basic question Oliver must ask: What makes a hero? What makes a villain? Those concepts are not always rigid. In fact, the very essence of hero and villain is fluid.

Oh… and did I mention there’s an Olicity reunion scene?

Let’s dig in…

Help me

HARRY STYLES is hurtling towards chart domination in the UK and US this week with his critically acclaimed debut album.

But as he emerges to greet me — dressed head to toe in black — from the back of a trailer parked behind the venue of his first ever solo show in North London, it’s clear he is in a reflective mood.

Security have just ordered us not to move more than two metres from the modest caravan — where his band members are chilling after sound check — to avoid the hundreds of fans gathered nearby.

It’s for their own safety, of course. Who knows the reaction if they knew just a fence and four guards stand between them and the new prince of rock ’n’ roll?

The ONE DIRECTION superstar shrugs it off — this level of hysteria has become a commonplace part of his day-to-day life.

My first interview with the band, in the X Factor canteen seven years ago, took place as a number of teenage girls were climbing on the roof.

It was a sign of things to come.

This is the first time I have seen Harry since 1D went on an indefinite break at the end of 2015 and there’s a lot to talk about.

anonymous asked:

Do you think that you can make a comic where Adrien comes to school in a sailor moon costume I need to see one it can be just like this one Marinette is wearing a maid costume and Alya is wearing a chef costume and nino wears whatever a DJ wears please I always wanted to k ow what Adrien would look like is a sailor moon cosplay.

Ever since I posted that Pajama Day Comic people have been saying that they really want to see Adrien in Sailor Moon cosplay XD In that comic I said that Adrien cosplayed as Sailor Moon on Halloween but apparently in France they wear scarier costumes.

So let’s just say this takes place during a costume day/party at school.

I never thought there’d be a day where I’d draw Adrien in Sailor Moon cosplay and I seriously could not keep a straight face while drawing this…thanks anon

Heeey girl! How's your R76 comic going? I hope this project still "alive". I really waiting for it :) Cheers.

Hello there!

Yep! I’m still working on it. The project it’s a huge thing and I want to be sure it’s worthy to be so, checking all twice or even three times, eheh. Also, you might be curious to know that a big change came when Blizzard released the Necropolis map.

I had plans for a scene settled in a completely original Ana’s hideout designed by me even before the new maps addition, so basically I’m now redesigning some things to make what I’ve already drawn appear more like Necropolis. (Spoiler, I guesssss? Ahahah!)

This and the fact that I got school deadlines in between, have been the major cause of a big delay, but still, I’m not sure when it will be completely done. For now I have 30 clean-linearted pages out of 50 but they’re still flat. I’d like to color some parts of it, and that would take me more time, I fear.

Probably I’m taking this fan comic too seriously, but I’m working my ass bad on it not only because I love this fandom and I love Reaper76, but also because I wanted to challenge ALL my skills and get out of my comfort zone giving my best with layouts/perspective/backgrounds, and make a good practice of the whole thing.

I hope you understand.

Thanks for asking! :3

The One With The Dragon (Jeff Atkins x reader)

word count: ~3,410

Request: anon- this sounds weird but I love dragons and I love jeff so could you write something about jeff and dragons? love your writing btw :))

Warnings: mild bullying, badass reader, Jeff being perfect in every way, descriptions of art even though I know absolutely nothing about it, Bryce is in it really briefly, I think that’s it.

A/N. This fic has become notorious in my friend group as The Dragon Fic. My girlfriends are very invested in this one, and are really disappointed that Jeff doesn’t turn into a dragon at the end and fly away. I’m sorry to disappoint guys. Despite the lack of Dragon-Jeff, please try to enjoy :)

The landscape covering the canvas was impressive by anyone’s standards; a great, sweeping expanse of land, on which the bodies of fallen soldiers were scattered. Smoke curled from the dying fires, and the sun cast a hazy glow upon the scene. The colours shone with vivid brilliance, the image so clear, so real that the scent of smoke clung to it. Still, it was the centrepiece that dazzled the eye. A dragon, pure silver and shining, it’s long neck arched as it spread it’s mighty wings, roaring into the sky a jet of blue flames.

The beast was massive, forty feet tall, its scales serrated and rippling. The colour grew softer as the eye moved towards the great snake’s belly. There the scales were rounded and almost soft. It’s wing span was almost double it’s height, and their great shadow almost covered the canvas. It’s teeth, long and black, shone like Onyx, and it’s one eye was gold, molten and burning. In the space where it’s other eye used to rest was a jagged scar leading to a gaping wound, blue light burning from deep within the socket. It was a masterpiece.

Of course no one at Liberty High appreciated it. It hung in the art room, the work of nine months and too many hours, and all (y/n) got as recognition of it’s creation was ridicule.
