i will go back to the last three wips

Weekly Voltron Fic Recs #13

Rules: You can find past rec lists here. This is stuff I like, and I have a huge bias toward Lance, hurt/comfort, and general fluff, in that order. Gen unless otherwise noted. Please comment on the fics if you read and enjoy them! I’ve noticed a trend of comments dropping off lately. Gen writers need your support!

bombs and bullets by ashinan
Words:  2,509 (WIP 1/25)
Author’s Summary: A failed exploration mission leaves Garrison Cadets Lance and Hunk stranded on the outskirts of Galra controlled space. Forced to find new careers to survive, Lance takes up bounty hunting to make ends meet. Three years, a flawless record, and still not enough coin to speak of makes the newest bounty mission impossible to turn down. A one-way ticket back to Earth is nearly too good to be true. Lance can’t say no. Apprehend fugitive 117-9875. How hard can that be?
My Comments: EPIC HANCE! EPIC HANCE! ::bangs fists on the table:: I didn’t know how much I wanted this story until it fell into my lap. Sniper AU? Focus on Lance and Hunk? Written by ashinan? SIGN ME UP, I AM DOWN. The prologue was already terrific and exciting and heartbreaking and awful, and yeah, I can’t wait for more.

Kerberos did (not) succeed by GemmaRose
Words: 3,451 (WIP 3/6)
Author’s Summary: After the return of the Kerberos mission, things go back to normal. Samuel continues to teach at the Garrison, Shiro continues to come around for dinner at least once a week, Matt continues to be a nerd. But Katie can’t shake the feeling that something’s wrong, that nothing is continuing at all. That the three people who came back from the mission are not the three people who left.
My Comments: Golly, this is such an interesting AU. The mystery is disturbing and intriguing, and Katie is a delightfully sharp protagonist. I really, really want to know what’s going on.

Waltz with Me by eggs_and_toast
Words: 5,069 (WIP 2/5)
Author’s Summary: The paladins find themselves in a Christmas fantasy. Basically, a Nutcracker AU. Updating every Saturday, with the last chapter on Christmas Eve!
My Comments: You all know how I feel about deaged fics. AND LOOK IT’S ALL OF THEM. I am overcome with awww. Everyone is adorable, but the personalities still translate. This is a happy place.

It’s Called Bonding, Gunderson by squirenonny for toondoon1010
Words: 2,624
Author’s Summary: How things never change even when everything’s changing. Or: Lance and Hunk bully Pidge into having a movie night at the Garrison, then continue the tradition in the Castle of Lions.
My Comments: Holy quiznak, I love the Garrison Trio. And here they are with Lance hounding Pidge to eat her veggies, and then a bad movie night, and then it continues in space. I just love them so much, and their interactions are beyond delightful in this.

Resting Potential (The Road to Recovery) by LittleWhiteTie
Words: 4,634
Author’s Summary: Shiro’s struggle with PTSD has gotten worse. His ability to function as a paladin and a leader is compromised, putting them all at risk. The team is forced to make a difficult decision.
My Comments: This is heartbreaking but realistic. Sometimes, you just have to stop. I think the moment that really made the fic for me was Shiro’s relief. Just…yeah. Poor guy. I would read something much longer with this premise.

All The Stars In The Universe by jamwrites
Words: 7,045
Author’s Summary: After being rescued from capture by the Galra Empire, Lance isn’t the same. He’s silent. Reserved. Broken. But Keith won’t accept this; every night, he comes to talk to Lance. Every night, he attempts to fix what is broken, and tonight may be his last chance.
My Comments: Mm, yeah, hurt/comfort, this is the good stuff. THE GOOD STUFF. I was really touched by Keith’s tenacity and Lance’s courage, after all he’d been through, to still reach out the only way he could. Klance.

Deck The Halls With Boughs Of Quiznak by CyanideStungun for dinolaur
Words: 1,201
Author’s Summary: It’s the first day of December on Earth, and Lance’s time has come….
My Comments: Holy moly, this is cute. I unreservedly accept the headcanon that Lance is a Christmas nerd and his infectious jollity cannot be stopped, it can only be embraced. Let them be happy in space.

An Echo of Thunder by WashiPuppy
Words: 6,934
Author’s Summary: Good thing Lance has a plan. Okay, the second part of the plan had a few holes. It was a work-in-progress. Keith didn’t need to know that though.
My Comments: HOLY EVERYTHING BATMAN I LOVE THIS FIC SO MUCH. I can’t even…I don’t want to spoil it! Just, okay, Lance and Keith are in trouble, right, and they both want to protect each other, isn’t that adorable, but THE LIONS. RED AND ALSO BLUE. Read it read it read it. If you read nothing else on the list this week, read this one. It made me SO happy. Fave. Fave of all time.

If You Give it a Name by yet_intrepid
Words: 1,239
Author’s Summary: “It’s only the best of the best and the worst of the worst who get assigned to death matches. Till now, Shiro has managed to avoid either designation, but his heart still flutters as he checks the chart.” (Shiro Week, day two: Champion / Leadership.)
My Comments: Oh man. This one broke my heart. Like actual pieces on the floor. Read it, but prepare yourself for incredible pain. Also read the rest of this author’s stuff for Shiro week. It’s all really, really good.

Engine Won’t Turn by yet_intrepid
Words: 6,001 (WIP 3/?)
Author’s Summary: Day Seven of Shiro Week: AU. Shiro, after a serious injury to his arm, is retired from the arena and sent to a work camp. He’d look for the Holts, but he’s a little preoccupied working long shifts with heavy machinery while infection slowly takes hold. (This fic may gain a “graphic depictions of violence” warning in future chapters. Tags and characters will be updated.)
My Comments: I have to rec this fic in particular because it is SO painful and SO good. Agh. This author is so good. Makes my heart hurt so much. It’s fabulous.

Payback Is A Team Effort by earthstar
Words: 5,576
Author’s Summary: Keith and Allura don’t know each other very well, but there’s nothing like planning a prank to start creating a strong bond.
My Comments: Written as possible Kallura, but can be read as gen. This is ADORABLE. I love the slow, tentative way they get to know each other, then decide to team up to get back at Lance. Very cute, fun fic.

For your au project I was wondering if you could write something in the PWW where perhaps Liam and Molly and their child come to California for Christmas because it's the opposite of when they were in London and Emma is about to give birth to their first child. And maybe Ingrid could come and she ends up going into labor when everyone is there so she's surrounded by her family when her little one enters the world. Thanks!

Author’s note: So this is it! The last December Prompt. I’ve really enjoyed revisiting these AUs over the course of the month. I will never say never for playing around with these in the future, but I’m glad to get back to my other WIPs. This one was fun to write, I hope you enjoy!

Poem Without Words

December AU Project

Baby Makes Three

“Killian! Have you seen the wicker basket?”

Killian ducked out from under the Christmas tree, a little water spilling from the cup he was using to water it. They’d gotten a real tree for their first Christmas in their newly built dream home; he’d been unable (once again) to resist Emma’s pleading emerald eyes. Thankfully, it was New Year’s Eve and they could get rid of the bloody thing tomorrow. “I think it’s in the attic, love,” he called. “I’ll fetch it.”

She poked her head out from the kitchen. “I can get it.”

“You’re already three days late, sweetheart. You heard what the doctor said.”

She scowled at him. “I feel fine. It’s only stairs!”

He returned to the kitchen, setting his cup aside and cradling her round stomach in his large hands. “And what if you went into labor on those narrow steps? We didn’t design them for someone of your girth.”

She still looked annoyed, even though she knew he was right. “I feel like a hippo,” she said crossly.

He didn’t laugh. Her moods were delicate these days. “You’re gorgeous.”

“Stop being nice. I can’t even see my feet!”

“You’re always going to be stunning to me, love. Might as well accept it.”

She sighed. “I know. I’m just being a grump. I wish our little girl would hurry up already.”

He leaned down and kissed her forehead. “She’s stubborn like her mother.”

Under the Influence

For: Alice at @afitzgeraldfic

By: Sara at @1dable or @runninghomefic

If Addi was certain of anything, it was that she has no idea what was happening with her life.

Her flatmate was Med student who’d never learned the proper function of hamper. Her friends were more concerned with how many balls they could sink into a cup of beer than their nine am class the next morning. And Addi herself was three years into a journalism degree with no jobs in sight and tendency to make terrible decisions after a few shots of tequila.

But with only a year left of pretending to be an adult, she was determined to make the most of it. Even if it meant having to physically drag her unwilling flatmate to the first, and probably best, party of the year.

A story about who’s making the fry up, who’s shit out of luck, and a sober curly headed boy who probably doesn’t want to deal with any of them, especially Addi.

Word Count: 13704

Warnings: Heavy drinking and sexual references

Main Pairing: Harry/OFC

“Niall, come on!” I huffed, crossing my arms over my chest, “You’re being ridiculous.”

My usually zealous, blond flat mate stood on the edge of the street sidewalk with his arms tight by his side and an apprehensive frown tugging at his lips.
