i will get back to those questions!!

anonymous asked:

Hi. I love TSTS and always look forward to your updates. But you didn't upload a sneak peek for the next chapter. Does that mean that you won't be posting the chapter this Sunday?

Okay, so first of all it’s really cool to see someone paying attention to my schedule and missing TSTS, so thank you!!  😊

Second, the short answer to your question is, no, there will not be an update Sunday.  TSTS is in a short break and will be back May 14.

The long answer is this. It actually takes me an average of 10 days to write a chapter of anything, so weekly updates are unsustainable.

That being said, regardless of what you see being published I’m writing (or revising) pretty much every day.  If you knew my work/family schedule you would be shocked that I get done what I get done.

Those 10 days are not in a row, I’m always working on several chapters at once and I won’t work on two different drafts of the same chapter two days in a row because I want my brain to have a fresh take on each draft.  I prefer to work sequentially because I think That’s best for flow and final product.

So…I finished draft four of chapter 18 yesterday and today I’m hoping to work or draft three of 19 and draft 3 of 20 Saturday, then hopefully type up 21 Sunday…etc…

I have a very tight schedule that if I can keep to it you will get a chapter a week from May 14 to the end of June, but it’s the end of the school year with two elementary school kids and a teacher husband…mother’s day, father’s day, recitals, a first communion…

The biggest obstacle will be next weekend when I take my girl scout troop (yeah, I’m a troop leader on top of all this) on a three day camping trip.  The only way I can keep on schedule is if I come back from that trip with the first handwritten draft of 23-25 written in my notebook (it’s an electronic free weekend).  And I have no idea is I will have the time to do that or not.    (It’s an archery camp though so that should be inspiring  😉)

So, there’s a longer answer than you wanted.  But here’s my progress via excell sheet.  I’ll try to keep you guys updated on Sun/Thursdays to whether I’m on track.

I am really tired yall.

Lemme just preface this with saying that I am a writer. I have been writing for most of my life. I have taken actual classes about writing and about what fiction can offer you, me, and people as a whole. I have won an award for something that I wrote. I know and love fiction, be it in written form, graphic novels, or film. It is all so good and complex and it’s something I am passionate about. That said, let’s get into this.

A good majority of the discourse that goes on in most of the fandoms I’m in stem from the idea that violence and forbidden sexual acts in fiction will encourage those actions in reality. It is important to know, firstly, that the only time this happens is when a person is immature enough or not mentally healthy enough to distinguish reality from fiction. Growing up, my parents would often stop horror movies (back when I first started watching them) to ask me questions. To be fair, they were pretty shitty people, but in this one aspect, they were so good about making sure I knew this difference. “You know this is just a movie, right? None of the stuff on the tv is real.” They’d assure before continuing the film.

It’s not real.

Now, half of the stuff I read or watched back then was nowhere near pushing boundaries or making me think critically about society or whatever. However, I knew that what I watched wasn’t real. It was images on a screen. If I don’t like what I’m seeing, I can walk away. It doesn’t have to affect me, personally,  unless I let it.

Now, lets circle back. School. College. I took a writing class that used this book:

Granted, it was a screenwriting class and most of the chapters were about various script formats, but the beginning chapters focused on why we write and why we make the stories we do.

It had a section in it describing how human needs and desires are met through fiction. It detailed those needs in a list. This list:

Please draw your attention to the ones on the list that say that fictions helps people to:

Be purged of unpleasant emotions

To have vicarious but controlled emotional experiences

To confront, in a controlled situation, the horrible and terrible

To explore taboo subjects without guilt

Just because you personal don’t need various forms of ‘taboo’ media, doesn’t mean that others don’t. Media, in all of its forms, is a way for people to explore things safely. It’s an outlet that doesn’t harm anyone and it offers the creator and viewer/reader a safe way of exploring the complexities of situations (or in some cases relationships) that these people do not want to be involved in irl. Because we can distinguish reality from fiction. Because none of us are going out killing people or getting into abusive relationships or fucking our sibling.

While being critical of the media we consume is important and it is vital to dissect the whys of the media being created, there is a line between creating open discussion about these taboos, about the society and personal experiences that makes one need these outlets, and verbally abusing and harassing strangers.

If you want to create a dialogue about media or a ship you don’t agree with, fine. Talk about it. Dissect it. Really dig deep into the human condition and the psychology behind these outlets, but don’t shame people for them to the point of telling them to kill themselves or telling them they are human garbage or what the fuck ever.

Fiction isn’t always meant to be picturesque. It’s not always going to be SFW. If that isn’t your cup of tea, then great. Stop going into the tags of things that make you feel unhealthy. You do you. Keep yourself safe. Stop continuously exposing yourself to content that you can’t swallow. To keep getting involved, to keep harassing people, to keep abusing strangers shows that you don’t give a damn about the content. You need an excuse to bully someone else and indulge in holier-than-thou circle jerks with other people who also have no sense of what fiction is for.

psa: don’t mention commissions/patreon on AO3

Hi guys! So I know we all don’t actually read the terms and conditions of things and just hit agree assuming there’s nothing important in there (I do it too oops) but if you take writing commissions or anything involving money, then there’s actually something in the AO3 terms and conditions to be aware of.

Linking to a personal website or blog/social network where you are taking donations, posting commissions or mentioning published works is permitted, but advertising it directly on the Archive is not, nor is using language which one might interpret as requesting financial contributions. For example, you can say something to the effect of “check out my Tumblr if you want to know more about me and my writing” and include the link to the site, but you cannot specifically state anything about donations, commissions or sales on the Archive.

Today someone reported one of my fics as violating this condition - presumably because I’d mentioned my patreon in the author’s note (I wasn’t actively requesting donations either… I’d literally just mentioned that it existed, and that the fic in question was written as a thank-you for hitting one of my goals).

I’ve written to AO3 to check whether just saying ‘thank you to those who support me on patreon’ is fine and I’ll let you guys know when they get back to me, but if it’s still going too far in terms of being a ‘commercial promotion’ then I’ll just avoid mentioning this in the future! :’)

As I said, someone did actually report my fic for this - so there are people out there who are noticing/reporting these situations. Please be aware of this if you take fic commissions, or use patreon or ko-fi, because your account could end up suspended, which of course no one wants!

#optomstudies here with a post about university studying! I’ve been reading many study tips masterposts in the community, but some of these won’t work that well for university. So here are 3 tips for adapting to uni study!

Loose leaf? Notebook? Neither! (but if you must choose between the two, I recommend hole-punched loose leaf - easy to file :D) There is just no time, especially once you get to your higher years, that you will be able to write paper notes especially considering the level of detail that you are required to learn things to get good marks.

When I was studying therapeutics, lectures were more like an essay crammed into 60-80 ppt slides! Using 10pt Calibri, 1.15 spacing, custom 1cm margins - I still had 12 pages for a 2 hour lecture (see below)

Two lectures / week, for 12 weeks! Although this was the most-content heavy subject, my other courses were still way too time consuming to write notes for. Sadly, you can’t summarise much, because MCQs pick at details.

As for laptops, cheap netbooks are only ~$300, but I’d recommend these really great student laptops

And yet, you have to wonder why #studyblr doesn’t have more digital notes? Isn’t every studyblr the owner of a computer as a tumblr user? I’m trying to encourage everyone to feel more confident about posting their digital notes as part of the “#studyblrs get real” tag (see here), so if you have some great typed study notes, please tag me with #optomstudies and I’ll be happy to reblog you!

Read through your lecture slides so that you have a basic grasp of the topic before classes. If you have any readings assigned, do them too. This means that you’ll

  • go in knowing what concepts you need clarified
  • revise one more time (remember the forgetting curve?)
  • be much better placed to answer questions and participate in class discussions (get those participation marks!! ;))
  • find it easier to follow along with much more complicated topics than you’ve experienced in high school!
  • remember a lot more of the topic when you come back to revise later on!

Yes, I know, studyblr blasphemy right? But this is what you do when strapped for time. Particularly with biological/chemical sciences, lecturers will have basically summarised what you need to know on the slides.

Before your lectures, read through the slides (should take about 30 minutes for a 2 hour lecture) and mark/circle anything you don’t understand - then when you get to the lecture, jot down a clarification in your own words based on the professor’s explanation. Eventually, you’ll find that you have studied the topic well enough to not need your own footnotes.

It takes a little experience to know which professors have slides you can study off (tip: it’s usually the ones where you don’t have to write down much) but it’s totally worth the time you save!

Hope this has been an informative post about the differences between university and high school studying! Please follow me for weekly study tips, study pics and now kpop vocab lists!

Ford looks at the piles of paper scattered around the table and groans. “This is just for the room assignments for the roadies?”

“Sadly, yes,” Lardo says, patting her on the back. “It only looks complicated though. I mostly have a system you can stick with, you’ll just have to worry about the new frogs next year.”

“Somehow I almost wish I was trying to schedule rehearsals again,” Ford mutters.

“Here,” Lardo hands her a small red folder. “Look, this is the basic set up, okay? I have one for hotels that have strictly doubles, one that has doubles and singles, and hotels where you might have to squish 3 per room. It happens sometimes.”

“Okay,” Ford flips the folder open and compares the sheets side by side. “So some people are always together, some people move around, and - what are those red exclamation points at the bottom?”

“Those mean absolutely not,” Lardo points out one pair. “Like, Whiskey and Tango get along really well normally, but before a game Whiskey needs quiet, and Tango always has questions. Terrible combination, as we discovered on their first roadie. Tango and Nurse is actually a good combination, because Nurse likes a bit of a distraction, and he can usually direct the conversation back to a somewhat relevant topic. Whiskey and Dex get stuck together a lot, because they both appreciate the quiet, unless I know Chow and Dex have a comp sci project due. Then I’ll try and put them together because they’ll probably be up half the night anyways, and then you don’t have two pissed off roommates. Ransom and Holster shouldn’t be split up, because frankly, it just makes them sad, and then they pout, which is a little bit pathetic but also endearing?”

Public speaking is very few people’s favorite thing. It can be so terrifying to get up in front of a whole class and present your project, so here are a few tips on nailing your next speech and feeling a little less nervous while you’re at it.

i. preparing your speech

  • Start with a topic that you care about, and be sure that:
    • It’s not too general that you don’t have enough time to cover it (like ‘the history of the US’ for a five minute speech) or too specific that you will run out of material.
  • Some people talk faster when they are nervous, some people slow down. Find out which you are and plan accordingly.
  • Make several drafts, and send them to your teacher if you can.
  • Create your visual aids (PowerPoint, handouts, etc) before your final draft, so you can make changes as necessary.
  • Don’t put too much text on your slides, other wise your audience (and maybe you) will get distracted by trying to read them.
    • Stick to using slides for quick facts, statistics, and pictures.
  • Don’t use the sound effects options they have for changing slides, it will just be a distraction.
  • For a speech you’re just giving once, you probably won’t have the timing down enough to use automatic changes.
  • Don’t put too much information on one slide. Just the point you’re on, and maybe the next, will be enough to fill it if your font is as large as it should be.
  • Make sure you have your slides saved in at least two places (typically a flash drive and your email) so that if you can’t access one you have a back up.
  • Think about what questions people might have about your topic, and be prepared to answer them. Also brush up on any opposing views if the exist so that you can address those, both in the speech and in questions.

ii. making your flashcards

  • Write bigger and clearer than you think you need.
    • I find it a bit difficult to read when I get nervous, especially when I’m just glancing down quickly. Write in print, and stick to just one or two points per card so that you can write largely.
  • Don’t write whole sentences, just key words.
    • If you have too much information you’ll be tempted to read it all off. Instead, just write down a word or two that will remind you of your point if you get off track.
  • Number your flashcards, and consider putting them on a ring.
    • That way, if you drop your cards on the way up you won’t start out flustered.
  • Remember to put when to change the slide so you don’t forget and end up behind, or leaving it on the same slide the whole time.
  • Color code your cards so that you can see what’s happening at a glance.
    • I typically use blue for stats/things I need to quote directly, grey for slide changes, and pink for points to emphasize.
  • All speeches should end with you asking for questions, so be sure to add that into your last card.

iii. practicing

  • Always practice out loud, even if you feel silly.
    • It’s important to hear and feel yourself saying the speech to get comfortable performing it.
  • Time yourself practicing your rough draft a few times, so you know if you need to make it longer or shorter.
  • Practice with your visual aids a few times
  • Practice it all the way through if you can; if you mess up, brush it off and keep going.
  • Film yourself practicing, so you can see if there’s anything you’re not noticing that you need to adjust.
  • Practice everyday, even if it’s just for a few minutes some days.
  • The more you practice, the more comfortable you’ll feel.

iv. getting ready to speak

  • On the day of your speech, be sure to eat a good breakfast/lunch so you don’t get light headed.
  • Dress in an outfit that makes you feel confident and isn’t distracting: no busy patterns, large logos, or short hemlines that you would be tugging at the whole time.
  • Double check that you have everything you need before you leave – cards, slides, and any handouts you may need.
  • This TED Talk has some great tips on faking confidence. I highly recommend watching it, but if you don’t have the time one of the take aways is that certain poses can trick your brain into feeling confident. She actually suggests going into a bathroom stall and standing in a “Superman” sorta pose for a minute or so. You’ll feel really silly, but strangely it helps.
  • While you’re in there, adjust your hair/check your teeth so you’re not worried about that when you get up there.
  • If you get to choose when you speak, think strategically: will going first and getting it out of the way make you feel better? Or would you rather wait and see a few people speak first?
    • I really don’t suggest waiting until the very last slot, but I like to go second or third to have the best of both worlds.
  • When you get to class, lay out everything you need and glance over your notes one more time. Then take a deep breath. You’ve got this.

v. the speech

  • When you get up to speak, take your time laying out everything you need and setting up your slides.
  • After you’ve gotten the slides on, test the remote to see how sensitive it is. Just flipping to the first slide and back to the intro will help you feel less flustered if it’s more sensitive than you think and jumps around.
  • Take a deep breath and get started. If you mess up, no will know but you. Just keep going and act confident.
  • Glance back for just a second when changing slides to make sure you’re on the right one.
  • Make eye contact! The biggest mistake I see people make is to look down or above everyone’s head. Make eye contact with everyone more or less equally so it doesn’t look like you’re staring people down (but, if there’s someone that’s extra smiley/encouraging don’t be afraid to come back to them when you get nervous).
  • If you feel yourself starting to get nervous or starting to talk too fast/slow, it’s okay to take a second to take a deep breath and center yourself. Don’t be afraid of a couple seconds of silence if you need them.
  • If the podium helps you feel less nervous, use it. If moving around helps you loosen up, that works too!
  • If you get off track, you are likely only one that even noticed that you messed up, so just take a deep breath, take a look at your notes, and get back on track the best you can (”going back to the second point,” or “but before we get to that,”).
  • If you’ve noticed that something’s wrong that needs to be addressed (like you’re on the wrong slide, or you misspoke and gave an incorrect fact) you can say something simple like “Sorry, I misspoke, it’s actually 1 in 3 Americans, not 1 in 4″ or try to make a joke if the subject lends to it and move onto your next point.
  • No matter what happens, it’s all good. Try to to panic and say things like “sorry, guys, I’m just so nervous” because that’s basically the only thing that will tip them off that you are.

Above all, just try to relax and remember that you’re doing a good job. No one but you can tell how nervous you are or will know if you mess up.

Hello everyone! As promised, I am here with a new 30-day challenge. It’s focused on introspection and geared towards self-exploration. But wait, there’s more! It’s designed for witches who are just starting out in their exploration of witchcraft.

You can do this challenge regardless of your length of time practicing, but it’s likely to be most useful for people who still feel that they’re just getting started. I wanted to create this so that witches could answer it as they begin their Craft, then (hopefully) look back on it later and see how (and if) things have changed because of their magical work!

it would be really great if those of you doing this would tag the posts with #rootsofcraft so I and other witches can read the responses easily, compare, and learn more about how diverse our community can be. As noted, I designed this to be highly introspective, and I do hope the questions inspire a lot of thought!

In a few days, once I’ve typed it up, I’ll be posting a second challenge, called Fruits of Your Craft, designed for those who consider themselves more experienced witches.

Neither of these are really confined to any skill level or number of years/months spent practicing; it’s just a matter of how you, personally, feel about yourself. Do you feel that you’re beginning, or more experienced? So, feel free to do this, or the next one, based on that rather than the amount of time spent.

Enjoy, and I look forward to reading responses to the questions!

Realistic Study Moods

the “i accomplished something” mood:
you decided to be productive that day but at night you realise you haven’t accomplished a single thing from your to-do-list. stressed you get yourself a cup off coffee and sit next to your desk really unmotivated and exhausted. half an hour later you’ve solved one math problem. you smile, you have done something.

the “i’m so fucking motivated” mood:
early morning. you get out of bed right after the alarm goes off. well-rested you brew yourself a cup of tea.you write your to-do-list. after that you take a seat in your bed and start reading trough the textbook of your fave subject. “i’ll succeed today” you think and take a sip of your tea.

the “oh i’m so gonna prove you wrong” mood:
“you can’t do it”, they say. determined you start working early. you read, you write notes, you revise, you discuss, you watch videos. on the test day you walk in with confident, take your test & fully ace it. proudly you turn your back to those bastards.

the “why do i not understand this” mood:
papers scattered everywhere, several coffee mugs on your desk. you’ve been doing that same problem the whole day and still can’t solve it. you’ve looked trough the theory, asked your friends & even your teacher. frustrated you pick up your phone and hope someone else has asked the same question on google.

the “omg i get it” mood:
you’ve been reading the same theory over and over again, you’ve watched several videos on the topic and googled everything about it. still, you can’t get the hang of it. frustrated you put your book down. later that day you pick up it again and start reading it. slowly but surely you realise that “hey i understand this! it isn’t that hard after all”. excited you read through rest of the theory.

Ok so I was talking about Voltron with my 12yr old little brother who absolutely LOVES it, and when I mentioned something about Pidge lying about her age to get into the Garrison he looked at me like I had three heads.

“Uh no,” he said, obviously ready to correct my ignorance. “Remember? She was already in the school herself but then they kicked her out so she changed her name and went as a boy to get back in and keep searching.” And guys…looking back I can’t disprove that…I think he’s actually right, and I don’t know how I missed that?? Watch those episodes again…

My mind is blown, maybe Pidge isn’t as young as the fandom generally says she is? What think ye?

EDIT: I’m getting loads of comments on this so go read this where I explain a little more about the most common questions/replies

Secret Revealed

prompt: Combination of: · Okay now I really need to see Batmom and Batman fighting at a league meeting and someone(maybe Question?) calling out their bs, and An imagine where the justice league guy members shamelessly flirts with batmom just to rile batman up and he snaps when superman does it? He’s all like wrapping his arms around her waist and says : my wife not yours mine" and ·Can I have one on what would happen if Green Arrow sees Batmom for the first time and not knowing who she is turns to Jason -who had been standing next to him- and ask if Batmom is single?

AN: Cute and fluffy!

Words: 845

       Clark sits down in the seat next to yours and smiles, before reaching out to take your hand. You raise one eyebrow in question but don’t pull your hand back just yet. “So, I was thinking we could have dinner tonight. I know this restaurant by the sea, really nice place.”

          You bite back a laugh before looking over your shoulder to find Bruce standing just a few feet away, his eyes focused on you and Clark. He’s not the only one though, the rest of the league are staring as well.

          You lean in close and ask, “What did my husband do to tick you off this time, Kent?”

          Clark just smiles and says, “I have to write the wedding announcements for the next month because I disagreed with him over something. Plus, this also payback for all those fake fights I’ve had to endure over the years.”

          “How about I get you back on sports and I turn you down gently?”

          He grins, “I’ll take what I can get.”

          You lean back in your chair and say, “Sorry Superman, I’ve got plans.”

          “That doesn’t answer the question Hell Cat.” You turn to face Ollie, who’s grinning at you.

          You raise an eyebrow in question “And what answer are you looking for?”

          “That yes you’re single, and that yes you’re free Friday night, because I know this unbelievable little restaurant in Milan.”

          Your eyes flash to Bruce. His teeth are clenched and the look in his eyes is enough to make Jason back slowly away.

          You frown, “Sorry, I’m busy that night too.” Your eyes slide to Clark who’s trying so hard not to laugh.

          “So who’s taken up all your free nights Hell Cat?” You turn to Hal, who is leaning against the wall. “Cause when I asked you out last month, you were busy then too.”

          You take a deep breath and say, “Well you see boys, I’m married with two kids, so that doesn’t leave a lot of room for dating.”

          There’s a moment of silence before the men burst out in laughter. The few women in the room however are studying you closely. Huntress in particular has a knowing glint in her eye.

          The laughter is still going on when Question sneaks into the room. More often than not, the man would have gone unnoticed. He’s good at sneaking around, you’ll give him that. Helena’s grin just widens before she calls out, “Question.” The man just stops and turns towards his girlfriend. His hands are in his pocket, but he’s giving her his full attention. “Truth or Lie, Hell Cat over there is married with two kids.”

          The answer comes immediately “Truth. Hell Cat is married to the Batman. They have two adopted children, Nightwing formerly known as Robin, and the current Robin. They’ve kept their relationship hidden among the League for the past eight years, simply because they found it fun to mess with people’s minds. If someone were to look close however, they’d notice that the fights they put on never lasted more than twenty minutes, and they always left together. Their children find it infuriating.”

          There’s this stunned silence before Jason cries out, “Finally!” Then spins on his toes to face Green Arrow, “My mother is not single, stay the hell away from her!”

          You ignore the surprised faces of the Leaguers in favor of Question. “When did you figure it out?”

          “My second week. I noticed that your fights, while entertaining, never subtracted from the quality of a meeting, meaning it never interfered with something that needed to be done. In the case of a crisis there would be not contention on either of your parts, even if the two of you had argued about it previously. My theory was confirmed when I spotted the two of you making out in a dark corner.”

          You hear Jason groan, “Oh come on! I’m supposed to be the teenager here, not you two.” Then he turns around to leave the room and says, “If you need me, I’ll be on the phone with Nightwing telling him that everything has finally been exposed.”

          You smile as your eyes slide to the women in the room, mainly Shayera and Vixen, who are grinning at you. You grin before asking, “Yes?”

          Shayera grins, “You’ve been holding out on us.”

          Vixen nods, “All those girl’s nights out over the years, and you never told a story.”

          “Not every day a girl kisses the Batman. Spill.”

          You smirk and say, “That’s private,” before mouthing the words ‘next girl’s night out.” That seems to satisfy them.

          Standing up you stretch and walk over to Bruce. “Let’s grab our traumatized son and go home now.”

          “Grab Jason, I’ll be there in a minute.”

          You shrug and walk out of the room. Bruce turns to Clark who’s still smiling before he says, “You can have your sports section back, but you’re covering nothing but golf, chess, and badminton for the next three months.” Clark’s smile fades and all Bruce says is, “My wife, not yours.”

A/N: i was forced at gunpoint tonight to write a s4 drabble about bellarke realizing how the other feels about them. Rated T. WC: 1455.

It’s quiet.

Somehow, quiet is always around Bellamy. It’s like he wears it on his shoulders, along with all the pain and hurt and guilt. She doesn’t know if he’s even aware he projects it. All she knows is when she’s sitting with him like she is tonight, sorting meat packages into piles for storage for Alpha Station’s five years weathering out the storm, everything just feels calmer.

“Pass me the checklist,” Bellamy rumbles, nudging her hand with his. It’s the first thing either of them have said for the past half hour.

She obliges, and he squints at it.

“We’ve got to sort those.” He points. Clarke glances around. “Into different kinds of meat. We forgot to do that.”

“Then we have to do it again,” she exhales, and rakes a hand through her hair, nails digging into her own scalp. That will take another twenty minutes at least. Heavy frustration washes over her in a wave. There’s too much to do. Too many small details to iron out. “There’s not enough time.”

She hears him taking a deep breath— it’s no secret that they’re both counting down the minutes. But when he speaks, his voice is even. “There’ll be plenty of time soon enough. Five years, to be exact.”

She looks up, finds him watching her, dark eyes unreadable, and nods, her throat still feeling tight.

They resume sorting, but this time, it’s his shoulders that are drawn tight, and Clarke feels terrible right then for reminding him how little time they had, as if he weren’t already thinking about it every moment of the day. She scrambles for something to say to distract him. “What do you think you’ll do?”

Bellamy looks up, quirks up a brow.

She clarifies. “What do you think you’ll do with those five years?”

Meet You Downstairs

Read on AO3

As Jack descends in the elevator to the basement, it strikes him that he never knew his condo building had a rental suite. Between his hockey commitments and hermit tendencies, there’s still a lot about his own home he doesn’t know despite living here for six years. It’s part of the reason he offered to help out around the building: to keep himself social during the summer season. His parents talked a lot about building a community of friends outside of work, and he knows his way around a toolbox so. Why not?

The basement is… really creepy, actually, reserved for the storage lockers and recycling bins. Even the parking garage is a level up and more inviting than this. There’s only one hallway so Jack follows it, certain he’s going the right way when he hears the voice through the wall.

“It’s fine, Mama. I know you wanted to help me pick out a place but this one is great. It’s in a nice neighbourhood, very secure… Yes, I got your pepper spray in the care package, but please, this is Providence, not New York City.”

Jack doesn’t mean to eavesdrop but he can’t help but notice how young this guy sounds. In a building where the average condo sells for over two million dollars, most of the neighbours he sees in the halls are retirees or working professionals. There aren’t many parties, which he appreciates.

He knocks on the cheap wooden door which rattles in the hinges. No wonder they’re renting this room out instead of selling, he thinks. There’s shuffling on the other side, and Jack hears the boy… man say “Goodness, I think the custodian is here already… of course I have pie who do you think I am? Call you back, love you.”

The door opens and there’s a lingering moment of silence as they each look at the person across from them. This guy looks to be a few years younger than Jack, a bit shorter, lean but with well-defined muscles he can see quite clearly thanks to him wearing the shortest shorts that could possibly be considered not-underwear. He’s staring. Oh boy, he’s staring and he needs to not be doing that so he drags his eyes up and they stall on the loose neckline of his tank top.

Something About a Feeling

This is it. My blood, sweat, and tears. It’s been a long time coming with this one, so I want to thank @trulymadlysydney and @outofworkactress for giving me the words I need to hear so I can finally release this into the world. I feel like a mother on their child’s first day of school. It’s a bittersweet feeling.

In the words of @permanentcross, this is my favorite sandbox to mess with, and the more I try to explain it, the worse it turns out, but simply stated, Harry is infatuated with a girl who would never want him.

I’ve edited this a thousand times, and it’s still not perfect, but if I don’t let this little bird fly away now, it never will. So, please be kind. I’m trying my hardest. x

The first time he sees you, a mere glance from across the room, he has to remind himself he has a girlfriend. A lovely woman, she was, like most of the female counterparts he took in his life, but like most woman he chose to spend his time with, they all had one thing in common. Temporary. He knew he was growing closer to the end with this one; Hannah, a friend of a friend who was easy on the eyes, laughed at his sore attempts at jokes, and quite simply, knew she herself was as temporary as a toothbrush. They’d keep each other company for the time being and a couple of months down the road, they’d part ways, and the rest would be history. Simple as that.

But the first time he sees you, cuddled a little too close to his best mate, peering down at his phone as a small giggle escaped your parted lips, he stops dead in his tracks and backtracks. You were a catch.

Niall had his arm swung behind you, resting carelessly along the wooden seats, and Harry almost digs at himself as he resorts back to their conversation the night before wondering if he had missed the part in text where Niall stated he’d be bringing a female guest of interest. He doesn’t remember anything of the sort, but it doesn’t go unnoticed when he hands his beer out to you, and you instantly wince when the dark lager meets your lips.

Looks like he was playing third wheel tonight.

Imagine being mute and Daryl saving you from Shane's advances

WARNING : MENTIONS OF ASSAULT/ NEAR RAPE EXPERIENCE

(Wooo Daryl :3 and shame on you Shane -_- lol sorry I made Shane an ass but that’s the request XD so hope it is as requested and you all like it :D Gif not mine/found it on google/credit to the original owner.)

From the start of the outbreak, you found yourself being part of a group that had bonded over while stuck in the traffic.

Despite having difficulty communicating with them, as you were born mute, they had welcomed you and had found different ways to talk to you.

Over the time, you had grown close to Daryl, as he would often offer you help with whatever it is that you needed and just felt like he oddly got along with you a lot.

When he first met you, he was clueless about you being mute and simply thought you were quiet and someone who liked to keep to yourself.

He didn’t want to bother you with what might be some rude questions, so he just kept it to himself until one night by the campfire, he finally figured it out.

He notice how he had made you laugh but as no sound would come out, he forgot himself and asked you honestly, only to get an answer from the others around.

~~~~
Since, he felt even more attached to you and would do all sorts of thing to keep you safe. He had even taken the habit of learning sign language from you just to be able to understand you even more.
Although, he would be confused and just straight up be clumsy, it all made you smile to see his efforts and just as him you felt like you wanted to be closer to him.
You had even taught him something you had never had the habit to do for anyone else but your older brother, the sign you had both made up for “I trust you”.
You put your hand to his chest to feel his heartbeat and with your finger simply crossed an x on him and tapped three times for each of the words.
After explaining to him in your way how special it was, he caught onto it’s meaning and teared up with a big smile.
“You’re silly…Trusting me? You really feel that way?”
You let out a smile and nodded at him. Putting your hand to his, you did it one more time, making him grab your wrist to truly understand the meaning.
He pulled your hand away and reached over to do the same.
It didn’t make you feel uncomfortable whatsoever and neither did it him as to you both, it was the meaning behind the gesture that mattered.
“And I trust you as well…Y/N…”
He looked into your eyes after it and suddenly realized how he had been holding your other hand and got embarrassed about it.
You noticed how he changed and simply shook your head at him. It made him ruffle your hair jokingly and say, “Don’t shake your head at me…You get embarrassed too sometimes…I see you…”
As your smile came back, he laughed along with you and you both stayed by the fire for a little while before heading to your tents.
~~~~

As you sat there, smiling, someone else has had his eyes on you for a while. From his tent, Shane had witness everything and seemed to be particularly interested into seeing you being so casual about a man putting his hand to your chest.

It didn’t matter that it wasn’t sexual, he only saw it as an opportunity that he himself could have.

After Rick has introduced himself to all of you, Lori had dumped and pushed him away from her life and it just devastated him. He needed someone for a while and seeing you so comfortable around a man, gave him ideas.

~~~~~
With what had happened at the CDC and to most of your cars, you all traveled along the road to find a better place to keep you safe for the moment.
The weather was hot and the sun was starting to set, making Daryl move out to go get something to eat.
He quietly parted away from all of you and although you would want to follow him, he signaled you that he’d be back soon enough.
You nodded and with that, you were left with the others to help set up the camp. Suddenly, you felt Lori tapping your shoulder and as you turned to her, she kindly signaled you to help find some mushroom for the late dinner.
She explained herself that she had to stay by Carl’s side for the while as he had gotten sick. You nodded, understanding her reason and took the bucket she handed.
~~~~

You walked further away from the camp and carefully searched for whatever was edible, really.

You touched the ground to feel whatever you could in the grass and eventually got on your hands and knees to pick up the goods you found.

Without noticing, you strayed further from the camp, wanting to completely fill up your bucket. You heard some rusting and crackling of leaves here and there but simply didn’t put too much thought into it.

At some point, the noise grew closer and made you turn your head to check around. Nothing. You kept searching for a moment and heard it all again. You felt like leaving but as you turned around, Shane appeared in front of you.

It made you jumped but only served to make him chuckle. Taking a few deep breaths, you managed to “ask” him, as to what he is doing here.

He simply shrugged and titled his head to the side as it still made him laugh to see you. You were wearing shorts, your shirt inside your flannel was tight enough to give him an idea of your body and the fact that you were mute, made it perfect for what he had thought of doing to you.

Far away, from any prying eye, he knew he could finally make you his and probably even hurt Lori while at it.

With you signalling him your question, he decided to not understand anymore and just hinted at you as to what will come to you.

“I’m sorry, Y/N…I don’t get what you mean…”

He got closer as he said those words and made you back away from him. You knew something was off and strange about him and couldn’t let yourself down.

You responded in a more aggressive way and completely forgot about the bucket, as you let it drop to the ground, in order to use both your hands.

He kept walking towards you and claiming that he really didn’t understand your meaning. You shook your head at him and kept trying to push him away with your “words”, only to suddenly feel yourself being grabbed by the arms.

He hold you closely to him and you knew of his intentions. You panicked and tried to fight him off but it came to no use as he pinned you down to the ground.

He gripped your wrists to have more control over you and with a cocky smile, he said “Don’t fight it…I saw you with Daryl the other night…You like being touched by men, don’t you…”

He proceeded to slide his hand down your chest and instantly you tried to get him away from you.

You moved your arms as much as you could but nothing would seem to make him stop. Quite the opposite, he took it as a sign of to start kissing your neck thinking that it’ll calm you down.

You hated each instant of it and tried to butt your head against his but swiftly he’d move to the other side of your neck. His grip on you tighten when you would try to kick him off and and his lips would only suck on you harder.

You wanted to scream out but nothing but your faint strangled groan would come out. You heard him chuckle and he just had to taunt you.

“Poor you, Y/N…No one can hear you here…You’re stuck here with me…And after this…you’ll just want to be mine…”

He kept at it and you slowly felt yourself growing tired from the fight you put out and your grunts only made you breathless.

You felt his finger slide to your pants and into your panties, you were losing hope and thought of how much of a mistake you made, going so far off the tracks.

You thought as to what the others might say and think and knew he had you in the palm of his hand. With Rick being his friend and how close the others were, you didn’t think anyone would believe your side of the story and that made you tear up.

~~~~
You thought it over and over and tried to forget as to what was happening. Closing your eyes, you denied it until suddenly you heard some leaves rustling again and a familiar and angry voice behind Shane.
“What the fuck are you doing?”
In that instant, you felt Shane being lifted up and saw him being pushed to the ground.
It was Daryl and you couldn’t be any happier to see him. Daryl had straddled Shane and with no hesitation he started to punch him.
He didn’t had to witness all of it to know in his heart you wouldn’t have ever agreed to this. It angered him to see you being taken advantage that way and he couldn’t believe it would’ve been someone in the group.
He started to yell at him in anger and didn’t even wait for any explanation to keep going. Blood spewed out onto him but it didn’t matter to him.
He wanted to protect you and make sure that this kind of behavior never ever happens again.
“You think you can just take advantage of her like that? What the fuck is wrong with you!Don’t! You! Ever! Fucking! Touch! Her! Again! You fucking piece of shit! Do you understand!”
He yelled and kept striking him, making sure his message was understood. He didn’t feel his cuts stinging him so much he cared more to make you feel safe.
You closed your flannel to cover yourself and backed away from him. You didn’t want to stop him at all and just let Daryl take care of it.
Relief, was the only thing you felt to see him and couldn’t had hope for better.
Finally, after Shane had passed out from all of the pain, Daryl stopped. He took some deep breaths and tried to wipe the blood away from his face, only to actually smear it all over with his hand.
He looked for you with his eyes and just felt the need to go comfort you in that moment. He knew what it felt to be that scared, to think that you’re alone in the world and no one could hear you.
He got up and opened his arms as he slowly made his way to you.
“Y/N…you’re alright? Are you okay?”
You could hear and see the concern he had for you and it just made you weak. You couldn’t deny that you weren’t alright and just shook your head.
He finally got close enough to pull you in a tight embrace and you held onto his neck and shoulders.
You felt him stroke your hair and he reassured you that it’ll be okay.
“It’s alright…I’m here…Nothing’s gonna happen again…I promise…Okay…I promise…”
He pulled away to check for any injury to you and as he did, you felt your heart skip a beat and finally smiled at him.
It slightly unnerved him to see you that way and just asked you, “Why are you smiling…”
You wiped your tear away and shaking your head, you got shy from his question. You put your hand to his chest and slowly crossed on his heart before pointing onto him three times.
He understood your meaning and instantly teared up and smiled. He put his hand over yours and made it lay flat onto his chest making you fell his heart before nodding at you that he understands you.
He picked you up on your feet and just walked you back to camp, saying “Then you’ll have to trust me that from now on…I’m always going to take care of you…no more of this…”
How did Pidge, Hunk, Allura and Coran react to Lance coming back? And how were they when they got to got know about his amnesia?
So Lance has been presumed ‘dead’ at this point for 2 and half years (3 years since going missing)
Everyone’s in the stage of like finally being able to accept the loss and move on (except Keith) so when this dude shows up again everyone is going to be feeling a SHIT ton of mixed emotions. BUT obviously they’ll be happy to see him over everything else.
Hunk sees the amnesia as the price of getting Lance back he’s the easiest to accept it and the first to be like “I’ll show you around the castle! and tell you stories and you’re the same Lance so we’ll be friends it’s fine”
Pidge is CONVINCED she can single handedly figure out how to bring his memories back, like “okay put on your old armor go look around your room talk to blue lion! this invention will probably electrocute you but Maybe that’s what you need… OH EAT HUNK’S FAMOUS COOKIES NO ONE CAN FORGET THOSE THINGS”
Coran iss overrrr the damn MOOON his favorite paladin (c’mon we all know it) is back!!! Hell yeah re teach that boy all the things he forgot (and tell him embarrassing stories about himself that he’s GLAD he doesn’t remember)
Allura is good at making everyone get perspective from Lance’s side honestly. a lot of “CHILL OUT let the boy breath I know we’ve all missed him dearly but we need to give it time” He finds her safe to be around because he knows she’s not gonna ask him a million questions. she just let’s him sit and be between all the catching up.
So much had happened in so little time. Sure, it seemed like you had your best friend back, but who knew how long that would last. He seemed sincere earlier, but there was no way to guarantee that the two of you wouldn’t get into another stupid argument and find yourselves right back where you started.
A (little) Killing Stalking Rant
I’m not sure where to begin, to be quite honest. I just found out that apparently there is a chapter 18 despite everyone thinking there’d be a break after 17 and of course I instantly read it. Now me being my obsessive, overexcited self instantly went into the tag to see what kind of funny shit this precious fandom came up with this time only to be…well disappointed is such a hard word but I kind of am. Not because the jokes were repetitive (they were, but that is not the point) but because the fandom seems to be split in two entirely and I don’t understand why? Or why people have the need to constantly shade one another.
Anyway, feel free to ignore this, but I’m going to voice some of my (probably unpopular) opinions.
1) Ji eun is a major bitch and I do not understand why people are glorifying her for punching Sangwoo in the face like she is some sort of hero. She didn’t do it for Yoonbum, but to save her own skin. It also didn’t show guts or anything, just her will to live. I wanna bet that all the girls he chopped off before her tried much the same. Nothing special, moving on.
2) That being said, she most certainly is not a bitch for offering to have sex with Yoobum. In a situation like this, live or die, every last one of us would probably offer much more than sex, trust me on this one. Nothing is more precious than survival, it’s in our DNA to do our best. That being said, she is still a bitch for offering to basically RAPE Yoobum to safe her own skin. Bitch is selfish, not a hero. Yoobum obviously wasn’t down for the idea of getting fucked by her.
3) I really do not understand how people are still surprised that most of the fandom ships Sangwoo and Yoobum. Nor why people are surprised that most of the fandom loves Sangwoo. We basically got half of the explanation for this coming from Sangwoo himself in Chapter 18: He’s pretty so people are drawn to him. Where is the big deal? It’s a cartoon, for heavens sakes. It’s not like we have a bunch of real life Harley Quinn’s running around the street. Now for the shipping part, this one REALLY goes over my head. I literally saw comments about getting help and getting Jesus being thrown around and shit like that irks me for many many reasons, but I digress. We see the story through Yoobum’s and Sangwoo’s eyes. OF COURSE WE ARE ROOTING FOR THEM! Not just them as a couple but them as people! I’m 99% sure that we are supposed to! Yoobum loves Sangwoo so we love Sangwoo.
Yoobum loves Sangwoo, so we want him to get Sangwoo.
We love Sangwoo so we want him to be happy.
We love Sangwoo so we want him to succeed in his murder spree.
I was happy when he killed that asshole in the last chapter and I most certainly am looking forward to seeing Jieun being killed by either of them, really, because that is what Sangwoo (and Yoobum) want and since I see the story through their eyes, I want that to. Does that mean I’m about to go out and start killing people? No, because I faint at the sight of blood and really don’t like the idea of taking someones life. Nor the fact I’d get a lifelong sentence, really. Just throwing it in there for good measures. So, it’s safe to say I’m not going to go on a killing spree anytime soon. Still enjoy the deaths.
4) To elaborate on that. I really, really am surprised how people go into this story disliking Sangwoo and the relationship between him and Yoobum. Like you do realize it’s all about that, right? About Sangwoo getting satisfaction by killing and Yoobum getting satisfaction by being by Sangwoo’s side. This story isn’t about character growth , overcoming your mental illness or getting out of the shit situation you’re in. Quite the contrary. It’s about giving in to those primal urges, this quiet need to kill in the back of every humans head. The story is supposed to make us route for the killer and the psychosis and that sick twisted part of them so we end up questioning just how fragile our and societies morality is. I had Philosophy for for a couple of years and morality was a big part of that. I have my own opinion on morality and how it is a mere illusion anyway but that isn’t the point right now. The point is, let go of your false morality and get off your high horse and enjoy the comic called Killing Stalking for what it is! About two psychopaths giving in to their mental state to stalk and kill their prey together.
 I mean seriously, what did you expect?!
Prompt: Neil and Andrew are at some sort of bar or restaurant and someone hits on Neil. Neil doesn't understand because he isnt used to being flirted with.. But Andrew does. (Andrew's reaction?) 🌸thx
Eden’s seems louder than usual as they push through the doors. The music blaring through the club is especially bass heavy, and the beat thrums through the floor and up through Neil’s toes. Neil can already see the large sea of writhing bodies on the dance floor, and more bodies are pressed together up on this level around the bar and tables. He weaves his way around the bodies, keeping his eyes on Kevin’s back as he follows him.
When they sidled up to the bar, they’re lucky enough to catch a group moving away with their drinks. Nicky and Aaron are quick to grab the abandoned stools with Neil and Kevin filling in the space behind them. A few minutes have ticked by, the music switching over to an upbeat EDM track, when a bartender comes over to them. Neil doesn’t recognize the bartender, a tall guy with a mop of blonde hair, but that doesn’t stop the bartender from smiling easily at them.
“What can I get y’all?”
“Actually, we’re waiting for Roland,” Nicky explains, trying to peer around the bartender.
“Oh, he’s not in tonight,” the bartender says. “Something about a family emergency? So you’ve got me, Brayden.”
