i watch the show because of the plot

In and Out- Jason Todd X Reader

(A.N: Okay so this originally was supposed to be basically just smut but then a plot kinda slid its way in. This might turn into a small little series because i’m not sure where its going lol. I would love some ideas, feedback, anything. Inbox me or just comment!!)

Jason hated this plan. Yeah he might used that word a lot but this plan. He. Hated. It. He watched you slide the fishnet over your legs. You had already tighten the bustier on your chest and your breasts were showing way more than he wanted.

“I can feel you burning holes through my skin.” You spoke up, tying your hair up into a high, sleek ponytail. Turning around, you gave Jason your finished look.

Your hair up in a high ponytail, waving slightly from you turning around. Black leather gloves up to your elbows.  A bright, red, and tight bustier somewhat covered your breasts. Shorts that matched your gloves that barely kept your butt from falling out. Fishnets and red thigh high heels finished the look.

Jason growled,  the sound coming up from his throat. “I hate this plan.” He fisted his hands at his side.

“I know but we need that intel and this the only way we can get close enough. ” You strutted over to him, sliding your hands up his chest and around his neck.  "Babe, deep breath. “
Jason mumbled something but took a deep breath, counted to nine(he’s a rebel after all), then exhaled.

"If this goes as planned,  we can be in and out in less than 20 minutes. I’m a distraction and you’re the extraction.” You briefed him quickly.

He rolled his eyes. “Yeah I know the plan, I just hate that the target is a sleazy ass who likes to hang out in the grimey sex clubs.”

Pecking his lips, you slipped from his arms and went to your weapons closet.  Grasping a knife, you bent down to hide it in the thigh compartment of your heels.  Jason was dressed in his “casual” Red Hood get up. Cargo pants that emphasised his thighs, a tight white  shirt that emphasised his abs, and a leather jacket that had so many hidden compartments, you had no idea what he was bringing.

“Oh, don’t forget, Tim is spending the night too.” You reminded him, picking up a comm ear piece.

“He is always spending the night. You spoil him with affection. I’m kinda jealous.” He tied his combat boots and walked out the room to grab his keys to his motorcycle. Laughing,  you followed him out the door and to the elevator.

“He’s my best friend and I love him and you should be nicer to him since he did introduce us.” You said seriously.  Jason nodded half-listening as he looked at the building plan of the club. He liked having plans unlike some people he knew  that went in half-cocked.  He needed contingencies, exits, and no outliers he didn’t already calculate.

A soft smile graced your lips as you eyed your man. He was too good and special and you would let him know that any chance you got. Outside of the apartment,  Jason went to his motorcycle and heard the sound of your heels click after him.  The street was empty then a second later,  a sleek black car turned the corner and parked behind the motorcycle.

“Looks like my ride is here.” You tell Jason and look back at him. “See you in a few?” He wrapped his arms around your waist as your voice carried over to his ear.

“In and out.” He repeated your words from earlier. Jason leaned in and pressed his lips to yours. He always kissed you like it would be the last before a mission. It always took your breath away. When you pulled away to breathe, Jason looked at his watch.

It was time to go. He watched you walk to the car and get in. Tim was perhaps the only person he trusted to help with a mission when you were involved. Mounting his motorcycle,  he started it up and rode in the opposite direction of the car you were in.

It was a simple plan really but nothing ever worked in his favor that often.

I have a friend and she won't take up my recommendation of watching Criminal Minds because she doesn't trust me or my taste because I'm rather weird, do you think you could respond to this convincing her that Criminal Minds is definitely worth watching? Also you are probably my favourite blog on tumblr and I love everything you do and say 💕

Okay,

Dear (insert friends name here), I believe that you should start watching the riveting show Criminal Minds based on its ability to capture an audience through its storylines. For example, recently in season 12, the Spencer Reid (I will get into characters later) storyline consisted of amazing plots in that one given storyline. As well as that, Criminal Minds has a vast audience and to cater to their needs I believe that the relationships between the characters are vital to the success of the show. I guarantee once I explain the characters in detail you will completely fall in love with every single one.

Aaron Hotchner: Or more commonly known as ‘Hotch’ was the esteemed Unit Chief of the FBI’s Behavioural Analysis Unit (BAU) for over a decade, before he had to step down in 2016. He is also a father to a boy named Jack. His story is definitely heartbreaking. His wife was targeted by a serial killer that tortured him for several weeks before… well, I’ll let you watch that for yourself. He can seem cold at times but I assure you, there’s nothing he wouldn’t do for his team.

Derek Morgan: Frankly he is one of the best agents the BAU has ever had. If he wasn’t kicking down doors he was slamming his hand on a desk whilst interrogating an UnSub (Unknown Subject). He fights for what he wants and usually succeeds. His relationship with a gorgeous blonde named Penelope Garcia is probably one of the best dynamics in a show you’ll ever see and I’m not just saying that from bias. Don’t let his tough exterior fool you, once you get to know him, he’s a sweetheart.

Spencer Reid: Personally one of my favourite characters in the show. He is a doctor, who has bachelor’s in Sociology and Psychology, PhD’s in Mathematics, Engineering and Chemistry. He’s arguably a genius, with an iQ of 187 and can read 20,000 words per minute. Honestly, when you start watching in season one you may not consider him attractive (I don’t know how you couldn’t?) but when it hits around season 4 or season 5. You’re about to witness God’s work, my friend. He possibly is the most all rounded person, his friendships with everyone are just amazing and so special.

Penelope Garcia: She is known as the technical analyst for the BAU. She may not be the one to catch the bad guys in action but without her, the team would never find the UnSubs. She’s a very important member of the team and CANNOT be replaced. She’s probably the sweetest, kindest soul you will ever meet. She’s  different to the rest of the team in that she gets incredibly upset by the cases they deal with and so to cope she wears bright clothes and decorates her office with soothing ornaments just to remind her of everything good in the world. Derek Morgan, as mentioned above, is her best friend in the whole world and their relationship with each other is excruciatingly beautiful. She cares for everyone on the team and is honestly one of the best people you will ever meet.

Jennifer Jareau: Or more commonly known as ‘JJ’. She’s a gorgeous blonde who’s probably the kindest person you’ll ever meet. But, when you peel off that kind persona, you reveal a seriously badass agent. Honestly, when her family or team is put in jeopardy, she seriously changes in a way that’s so admirable that you can’t not like her. She’s such an integral part of the team and she’s worked her ass off to get where she is. She’s gone from being a communications liaison to a talented SSA (Supervisory Special Agent).

Elle Greenaway: You’ll first meet her in season one, and honestly, she’s probably one of the most confident women you will ever encounter. Yes, she goes through a lot of trauma and some heartache but, she’s one of the strongest people you will ever meet. She honestly deserved so much better, and you’ll see why later on in the show.

Emily Prentiss: This wonderful agent joins the team mid-way through season 2, and she demonstrated how talented she is quite early on and she such an asset to the team. She has had quite the life. Honestly, once you find out about her background you’ll absolutely fall in love with her. She’s one of the most caring people and would protect her team at all costs, shown in season 6. She recently took over from Hotch as the new unit chief and I honestly can’t think of someone more right for that position. She’s been through so much, yet she manages to bring happiness everywhere she goes.

David Rossi: He originally was supposed to be retired, but he decided to come back to the Bureau which enabled him to solve a 20-year-old case that he was being taunted by. He can seem controlling at the beginning but truly, once you see him interact with the team in the coming seasons he will feel like such a father figure to the team. He rarely shows emotion but when he does its heart breaking, he becomes this beacon of light in everything dark and he’s one of the best agents the BAU has ever seen.

Alex Blake: This angel, joined in season 8 after Emily Prentiss departs for reasons I will let you find out on your own. I believe her character development is an important part of her personality. She begins to become close with every single member of the team, especially Spencer Reid. We see her shine through as a mother figure throughout the two seasons she’s on the show. She has this quality about her that makes her so likeable. She is a pure example of how much the team cares for each other, even if they haven’t been on the team for that long.

Kate Calahan: She has been through a lot. She lost her sister in 9/11 and she took in her sister’s daughter as her own. If this doesn’t show you how kind of a person she is, I don’t know what will. She has been through so many struggles and yet she brings this incredible sense of humour that almost masks the dark acts that these people experience on a daily basis. You see first hand her develop on the show and it’s a beautiful experience. You watch her grow as a person, dealing with traumatic things in her past that she reveals in the beginning of season 10. She has this energy that makes you want to smile all the time which is something incredibly rare.

Luke Alvez: A new addition to the team could not have been better introduced or portrayed. His relationships with everyone are so clearly shown and developed in such a way that it makes you feel like he’s been on the team forever. He’s a member of their family already. We get an insight into his life and his past which is something so interesting. We see him as a normal person with a dog who goes running, and it almost makes you forget about the horror he probably dealt with whilst serving in Iraq. He’s one of the funniest human beings, literally his interactions with Penelope Garcia honestly what make season 12 amazing.

Stephen Walker: Moving on to this wonderful man. Not only is his voice deep and it soothes every ounce of my being but he is so intriguing. We see him as a family man, someone who values and cherishes the time with his wife and children. This is what makes him one of the greatest people. He is definitely underrated, but I honestly don’t know how. He is one of the most caring people you could ever meet. He’d only known the team for a short period of time and he was already willing to give up anything to protect them. He considers them his family. That’s what you call noble.

In conclusion, I know I’ve left out masses of information on these characters but I honestly want you to watch for yourself and see the dynamics unfold with your own eyes. It’s incredibly powerful first hand. If this isn’t enough to get you to start watching the show, I don’t know what is. I promise you, you won’t regret it.

anonymous asked:

Are you really defending the worst showrunner of all times after shonda rhymes? Plot holes everywhere, lazy plot devices, bad writing, a thousand timeline mistakes?

Oh sweet summer child if you think Adam Horowitz is the worst show runner of all time?

Over Steven Moffet?  Over the Bridge Boys from Stargate?  Over Aaron Sorkin?  Over Ryan Murphy?  Over Dick Wolf?  Over Jason Rothenberg?  Over Joss Whedon?  Over Rick Berman?

Have you ever been in a fandom before?

Or are you looking to attack me because I’m tired of people dehumanizing someone because they don’t like how he writes?  You think he’s a bad show runner don’t watch his show.  Don’t send him tweets about how he’s a monster.

I've just had a moment of reflection and I honestly don't think I've seen any scream movie all the way through. And what I do remember seeing I could easily have confused with the scary movie franchise.

What the fuck. What the FUCK. Paige. What the fuck. What the- Get your butt over here in FIVE MINUTES BECAUSE YOU ARE WATCHING ALL FOUR! (Scream and Scream 2 are the best (what a fucking good sequel) but you have to watch all of them!!!) I’m literally so angry. Like listen, I only saw them for the first time a week before the TV show came out–which I have a whole blog dedicated to, c’mon Paige, how can you NOT LIKE SOMETHING I LIKE–but how dare anyone else on the entire planet not have seen them! They are so. fucking. good. Like. Plot twists. AMAZING lines. And fourth wall jokes. The RULES TO SURVIVE A HORROR MOVIE. My girl Sidney!!! I’m so angry. It’s on Netflix, PLEASE WATCH IT. WHAT OTHER FRIENDS/MUTUALS HAVEN’T SEEN SCREAM? BLOCKED.

i envy people who have dreams with clear rational plots like “i was on my favourite tv show for a day” my dreams are like i’m in a diner and i’m pregnant. i leave the diner and i’m in a forest watching the pregnant woman who is no longer me. she turns around and now we’re in a jeep and she’s my dad. we’re listening to music which is somehow numbers. he asks if i remember the time we went to pakistan and i say yeah because i do. i wake up and remember i’ve never been to pakistan in my life.

wow straights don’t know how lucky they are. they are literally represented everywhere. u listen to a song on the radio ??? s t raight. u watch a tv show ??? 3 wild straight couples appear. u watch a movie ??? there is always a straight love plot squeezed into the story. u read a book ??? hello™ there are the straights again. like they don’t even have to search for things ??? while i need to graduate lesbian detective school to be freakin able to find one decent piece of lesbian fiction that i haven’t read 39290480939 times already because there are literally no alternatives ??? straights just need to open any book in the bookstore and there is already a straight romance flourishing on page one. imagine what that must feel like ?? can’t relate

Dear Evan Hansen is an amazing musical. The characters, the plot, the songs, the meaning; I cried a lot haha. It’s so moving and relatable, especially to those who feel like they just don’t fit in. So to anyone who feels alone or is having a tough time I urge you to watch and/or listen to this. I swear you won’t regret it. Just a heads up though, what I drew doesn’t reflect what happens in the show per se. I was just inspired by an animatic of one of the songs because it’s awesome and you should totally check that out too (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tiNe0L6kyto)

okay so I just feel the need to say why Brooklyn nine nine is the best show so strap yourselves in it’s gon be long

* first off, hella diverse cast
* and no “token” characters there just for the sake of diversity, each character has very different personalities from each other and represent the actual population
* despite totally different personalities they are all really good friends and care about each other so much- each character’s relationship is different and I find that beautiful
* wE HAVE A BLACK GAY MAN IN THE HIGHEST POSITION OF POWER IN THE PRECINCT?? that’s so cool
* amy santiago is never played off as “just Jake’s love interest/girlfriend” she has all her own plots and stories and is amazing and strong and the best
* healthy communication in amy and jakes relationship !!! making sure it doesn’t stop them from doing their job to the best of both their abilities !!!
* Terry is a very macho “man’s” man but isn’t afraid to show his feelings and it’s real nice to see them show how being emotional doesn’t make you a weak man
* the solidarity between the girls because we gotta stick together
* “I met god” “what does she look like?” “Ethnically ambiguous”
* constantly calling out the world for all it’s shit (homophobia, racism, gun laws, corruptness of the police, sexism, I cOULD GO ON)
* and now the reason I decided to make this now: THEY JUST MADE A WHOLE EPISODE ABOUT HOW BULLSHIT RACIAL PROFILING IS
* a show about cops still managed to find a way to talk about it bc they know it’s an important issue and did it in such an incredible way
* showed two sides of dealing with the situation, holts plan and terrys, and neither were ideal, both would have backlash for Terry more than the dickhead who stopped him tbh
* and showing Jake doing hella suspicious shit and not getting stopped
* oNCE AGAIN CALLING OUT THE WORLD FOR ITS SHIT
* (but this time with a whole ep not just mentions bless)
* also Jake and amy having to explain it all to Terry’s kids was v upsetting to see how scared they were at first that this would happen just because they were born as they were
* AND mentions of transphobia and telling the twins it’s okay if they don’t identify as female, what other show would

this ain’t even everything it was just getting v long

BASICALLY no show is as woke as brooklyn nine nine, it’s hella funny too with great plots and ships too if that’s what you look for and everyone should watch and @ fox if you don’t renew I will fight it is better than all other shows

Reasons why you should watch Young Justice

It’s an amazing show

It’s DC

It touches on a lot of important issues, that aren’t always brought up in shows (self-image, freedom to be yourself, loss of innocence, grief)

Bluepulse and Spitfire

STRONG FEMALE CHARACTERS

It passes the bechdel test!!!

Mastering the art of creating a female character that is in a codependent relationship, but doesn’t let the relationship rule her life

There is some VERY gay undertones, especially in season 2

Bluepulse and Spitfire

Diversity, more so in season 2

THEY GET TEENAGERS RIGHT

Thank you DC, for realizing Mellenials are actually smart and don’t rely 100% on our phones

They also get relationships right. Like, ya, no relationship is perfect: but their ability to get over the problem is what makes a strong couple.

There’s a couple for every shipper.
Kinky relationship? Chalant
Lovey-dovey relationship? Supermartian
Looong-time relationship? MalXKaren
Fights because sexual tension relationship? SPITFIRE
They’re-not-gay-but-they’re-totally-gay? BLUEPULSE

WHO IS THE CANON LGBTQ+ DC?? WHO????

Believable characters with a lot of depth

You thought this chick was a shallow girl with 2 brain cells? Lol turns out she’s actually not that bad and has a severe inferiority complex
(Still not a huge Megan fan but whatever) (she’s a Mary-Sue, I don’t care what you say)

Bluepulse and Spitfire

SO.MANY.PLOT.TWISTS.

Some plot holes that are fun to point out (THAT DC WILL HOPEFULLY FIX IN SEASON 3)

It’s a DC show that doesn’t revolve around Superman and Batman (but heavily relies on their son/younger brother)

Bluepulse and Spitfire

The show has a great fandom

Like we literally exploded just because Dick Grayson hit puberty

But God DAMN he was hot

Bluepulse and Spitfire

It’s like Teen Titans, but better

I shouldn’t have said that

I’m sorry

BLUEPULSE AND SPITFIRE

Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok Joo is one of the best kdrama of all time and it continues to be overlooked as hell. It doesn’t even rank top 20 in Korea despite having one of the most well-written, organically developed plot AND characters for a kdrama. This is the first kdrama I’ve ever seen where they actually show a healthy, supportive relationship between the main leads without using over-exaggerated storylines to drive the romance. Also it’s one of the few Korean dramas that actually talks about mental health issues without downplaying it or use it as a plot device for ratings. I honestly love this drama so much and it deserves so much more love. It’s so fluffy and fun but also serious and relatable when it’s important.

Hunter x Hunter (2011)

Final Rate: S
Cry-o-meter: 4/5

Positives

+First of all, holy shit
+The protagonists are extremely likable, well-written, and complex.
+I’ve never been more invested in a cast of characters
+The villains are also likable, well-written, and complex. I can’t believe this show threw the most irredeemable ruthless killer at me and then made me cry over him.
+A well paced, slow-burn story that starts deceptively lighthearted and then gets dark and violent and genuinely upsetting
+Stellar character development. Everyone gets a turn to be the antihero and I fucking love it.
+Actions have actual consequences and the show isn’t afraid to kill off characters
+Intense and creative fight scenes
+The Phantom Troupe arc was dope as all hell
+Kurapika is the accumulation of all of my least favorite tropes but it’s played completely straight and he’s my favorite
+The art gradually increases in quality. It starts off kinda mediocre but by the end of the show it’s great
+It progresses almost like an RPG. The characters start off level one, with not a whole lot of skills or punch, and by the end they’re level 100 or so. The main characters don’t start off powerful (with maybe a small exception to Killua).
+The characters train? They actually train to get better? This is such a little thing but you can actually watch their progress.
+That *iconic* shot when Killua goes full-electric mode for the first time
+It’s not cheesy! it’s not! It seems like the show that would be really cheesy with a lot of angry screaming but it’s not!
+No filler! Everything is plot relevant!

Negatives
-It’s been on hiatus for a while because the creator is dealing with back problems and people aren’t all that hopeful about it continuing
-I need more Kurapika! The last clip of him at the very end just left me wanting to see more of him. The next arc in the manga is actually focused on Kurapika and Leorio but it won’t be animated for a while…
-The Chimera Ant arc probably could have been cut down in length, and a lot of the character designs were goofy. It changed and became better, but still.
-The Alluka mini-arc didn’t really do it for me. She didn’t have any character depth, she came out of nowhere, and it didn’t make me feel those sweet sweet emotions the show usually provides
-Hisoka pops a boner for a 12 year old
-”sorry but you take second place to alluka lol” b i t ch after everything you’d been through together?
-Unfinished, for now.

Final Comments: Holy fuck I wasn’t expecting to like this show as much as I did. Easily joined my list of personal favorites. I honestly can’t even say anything but if you love that slow burn frog-in-a-frying-pan type of show then you’ll love it. The pacing is so good, I love everyone, honestly please give it a chance and don’t get turned off if the first few episodes aren’t your style.

Why S4 (including TFP) might be a continuation of TAB

  • TAB doesn’t end on the tarmac - it ends with Victorian Holmes looking through the window at modern Baker Street. It seems like a perfect bridge between TAB and S4. He says he’s a man out of this time, then the next thing we see is modern Sherlock tweeting and still being a bit out of character.
  • All the ‘’fuckiness’’ started in TAB, not in T6T. Like this scene
  • Their sudden change in appearance.
  • Sherlock didn’t really solve the case in TAB because that wasn’t the point. Same pattern in S4.
  • The abominable bride is an old case, so are the S4 ones. If you watch HLV and then TLD  you’ll notice they’re almost the same story.
  • ‘’You’ve been reading John’s blog’’ that’s why he imagines T6T.
  • ‘’It helps me if I see myself through his eyes sometimes’’ explains why TFP is like a Bond/horror film.
  • He tells Ella he needs to know what to do about John, then we get a retelling of HLV with broken John and Sherlock trying to save him. I hate this show?
  • Being on a plane is literally being high (on drugs). If you watch S4 with this mindset EMP becomes even more obvious. T6T - planes, TLD - drugs, TFP - planes. Same thing. They told us
  • He’s literally shown sleeping on a plane in T6T.
  • Moriarty telling Sherlock it’s not the fall that kills him. It’s the landing. And it’s unresolved because Sherlock still hasn’t woken up/hasn’t landed. We don’t even know how Sherlock survived tha fall in TRF.
  • ‘’You’re in deep Sherlock, deeper than you ever intented to be’’ hence all the plot holes. Of course it doesn’t make sense, it’s not real.
  • The girl on a plane is Sherlock. She doesn’t know how to land, the plane is going to crash. Sherlock probably can’t wake up, again, ‘’he’s deeper than he ever intended to be’’.
  • TAB flash back in TFP which ties everything up for me. Curious thing is that he’s alone there, as if he took a step back since TAB. It doesnt matter who you really are, Sherrinford, etc. Which leads us to

The virus in the data: TAB - Moriarty, S4 - Mary.

AGRA = Mary = memory stick. She’s literally stepping out of a hacker’s house. It can’t get any more obvious, can it? Well…

She infected the story, the redemption arc is just a facade and Sherlock has finally realised she’s the real virus. Miss me? That’s why the fourth season is so wrong.

It’s time to wake up, Sherlock.

Honestly, if Marlene manages to fix every single plot hole in 7B she is a literal genius, because I cannot for the life of me figure out how to fix this mess of a show, like, I have built/read theories about pretty much every character on the show being -A, and there are still some details that don’t add up, every time. I just. Ugh. I just need to watch those last episodes and finally let my brain rest in peace.

Please Watch “Orange”

Ok everyone. I’m sure some of you have probably heard of this anime, and those people who have heard of it have probably strayed away from it for the same reasons I did.

I am a huge fan of romance anime. I’m basically addicted to anything involving love, but I was weary of this show, called “Orange,” because (1) you learn from within the first few minutes of the first episode that the love interest is going to die, (2) it looks really cliché, (3) it is not very popular, and (4) it looks sad.

I was wrong. So very wrong.

(1) Yes, the anime has its bleak, raw moments, but those moments were the ones that I never had anticipated that I would appreciate the most. Something that definitely became an admirable point of the anime was its very real, non-sugar-coated portrayal of depression, mental illness, suicide, and grief. This series does what most shojou romance series shy away from and actually shows the audience what depression is like through Kakeru, the fated-to-die protagonist, and the seriousness of suicide.

As someone who has personally battled with clinical depression for years and has been to therapy and counselling, this anime hit home for me. The faking smiles, pretending everything is okay, the self-loathing, thinking you are at fault, thinking you are a burden to others, denying yourself happiness, not allowing yourself forgiveness, and the thoughts of death; they are all things that I could relate to. They even included how you can still experience moments of true happiness even if you are depressed, but how it never really goes away. Sure, this anime might not be as light-hearted as others, but it’s the heart-rending instances in this show that give it so much impact and substance.

(2) This anime does have some clichés (i.e. cultural festival, giving chocolates on Valentines Day, new kid at school sits next to the main character), but the plot completely colors these events in ways that make them so much more meaningful and different than you have ever seen them. One of my main concerns going into this show was that I would be bored, but I ended up watching it all in one sitting simply because of how much I needed to know what would happen. Additionally, the secondary characters are wonderfully fleshed out and are actually important to the plot, instead of feeling like accessories.

(3) I know this anime was based off of a manga (which I had once picked up on a whim, but put down once I saw how sad it was probably going to be), but I have never heard people talk about it, like ever. Even when the show came out (which it did recently), there was no buzz about it. Although the lack of chatter surrounding Orange only made me more pessimistic regarding the quality of the show, if there is anything I have learned from watching hundreds of anime, it is that sometimes good shows can fly beneath the radar. I am glad I decided to pick it up after it’s completion and give it a chance, because I just found a series that has easily earned a spot on my top 10 list.

(4) Is this anime sad? Yes. Is it too sad to watch? No. The biggest obstacle that stood in my way for this show was the fact that it pretty much promised from the get-go to be sad. “But love is supposed to be happy and have a happy ending,” you might say, “so how can that be possible when one of the protagonists is destined to commit suicide.” I don’t want to spoil it, so all I can tell you is that I was very pleased with the conclusion and it ends much differently than you are lead to believe it will. Trust me guys. My heart is made of glass. I would not recommend this show to anyone if I didn’t think the denouement was really good

So, in conclusion, set aside a few hours one day and let this series show you its magic!

For people who want more genre anime with LGBT+ characters like Yuri!!! On Ice

Samurai Flamenco. Please.

It’s got an adorably dorky, enthusiastic, and justice-loving main character named Masayoshi Hazama. He’s a gorgeous model, but he dreams of being a superhero. And he does it! Kinda.

He meets cynical cop Hidenori Gotoh, who chastises him for being a vigilante, but the two grow closer and closer. (And closer, and closer…)

There’s also an important side character, Mari Maya, who is an idol. She is bisexual, and is in a relationship with Moe Morita, who is a lesbian. (There’s a third member of their group, Mizuki Misawa, who I believe to be coded asexual, though anybody can headcanon otherwise.)

(this happens multiple times!!!!)

The show is incredibly silly in nature (up until a certain point), and both pays homage to and parodies the conventions of the superhero genre. From the western vigilante, to the Japanese sentai, it’s got it all. (Even magical girls!)

However, it also deals with toxic relationships, conflicting ideas of justice, and mental illness. It takes all of these ideas very seriously, and treats all of its characters with respect.

So anyways, if you love Yuri!!! On Ice, and want to watch more genre anime with respectfully treated LGBT+ characters and canon relationships, I HIGHLY recommend Samurai Flamenco. It’s a wild ride, but Samurai Flamenco is an incredible show that deals with justice, morality, relationships, mental illness, and love, and puts all of these issues in the limelight. The romance between Masayoshi and Gotoh isn’t even the main focus of the plot, but is still developed incredibly naturally as they become closer and closer.

So go watch Samurai Flamenco!

EDIT: It has been brought to my attention that some people are indignant about me using the phrase “coded asexual”. One person explained to me that this is because it seems like I am trying to erase a character’s sexuality, and that they cannot ONLY be asexual. So let me explain. I have watched Samurai Flamenco 5 times, each time with an even more analytical mindset. (Because I just love it so much). The character in question here is Mizuki Misawa, and yes, I believe she is coded to be asexual. There is a very large cast of characters, and almost all of them are shown at some point or another seeking romance and sex. This heavily includes the other two members of the idol group, Mari Maya and Moe Morita. However, Samurai Flamenco deliberately shows Mizuki refusing and showing no interest in those same pursuits. The show purposefully showed her as uncomfortable in sexual situations, and she frequently refuses the poly advances Mari and Moe make. Since this is very deliberate, I am still firmly behind my phrasing, because she is implied to have no interest in sex and no sexual attraction. So, because I’ve watched SamFlam so many times, each time has only cemented that feeling in me. Any other part of her identity is up to headcanon, as that is the only aspect really shown about her.

*sees new character on a show that I watch and the actor/actress playing said character looks vaguely familiar*

*has to immediately press ‘pause’ to google who it is and where I know them from before I can watch the rest of the show in peace because otherwise my mind will keep nagging me about it for the whole 45 minutes instead of paying attention to the plot*

what if before spiderman or deadpools identities are revealed keith/spiderman has a huge crush on lance and lance/deadpool has a thing for spiderman but keith just sees deadpool as a big mouth merc and lance just sees keith as some introverted emo and so of course this results in pining idiots... sorry;;

okay I think chuck may honestly be my favorite show ever and it’s a shame that not more people know about it because it’s got the best combination of comedy and actual continuing plot and it’s such an original idea and the music is so good and the actors are amazing and chuck and sarah may be one of the purest couples on tv and why are people not watching this show more

I remember being really worried when the Rowdy 3 broke into Todd’s apartment and stole the picture of Amanda, when I saw Martin staring at the picture I remember literally saying ‘Oh shit’ out loud because I was very unsure of them as characters. I had no idea what they were going to do. All I knew was that they liked to destroy stuff and attack the precious ray of sunshine that is Dirk Gently. So my immediate reaction to them being outside Amanda’s house was fear based on their actions and what normally happens to females on TV shows - they become plot points to further a male’s pain. But then you find out that all they want is to be her friend and protect her. And like now when I re-watch those scenes I’m like look at how cute they all are wrecking up Todd’s apartment! And Martin looking at the picture is like ‘awww he thinks she’s cute’. And don’t get me started on the brick that say’s ‘hi’. Like that is the cutest, slightly threatening shit ever.
