i was supposed to make a different thing

Leonard was out of breath by the time he reached Ray by Oculus.

“Don’t you dare.” He says, taking deep breaths in between each word.

“I have to, you know that.” Ray smiles, tilting his head.

“The hell you do! You think this is the right thing to do? You do this, you won’t be there for all the other times the world needs you.” Leonard says, grabbing his arm, as if preparing to pull him away.

“Hey, it’s okay. This is what I’m supposed to do. I can feel it. I’ve always wanted to make a real difference, to really make my life matter…” Ray replies.

“What are you talking about?” Leonard says, putting his hand on Ray’s face, “like you haven’t mattered? Like you’re not important unless you kill yourself for us? We’re not that important, the world isn’t that important! Don’t do this, don’t go.” He finds himself begging.

Ray smiles, furrowing his brow at the same time. Mixed signals.

“I have loved you ever since our first day on the Waverider. And I’ll love you until the second I die.” He says. Then, in a rare moment of violence against his own team, his own love, he knocks Leonard out.

By the time Leonard wakes up, Ray is gone. His first words upon waking, before he realizes where he is and what’s happened are “I love you too”.

a random soulmate au idea i had, where a person has a mark/tattoo on their arm to represent their soulmate and it spreads as they grow up to incorporate different things that represent the person or have some significance to them and eventually you have a full sleeve tattoo and it’s neato.

(and just think of the potential shenanigans from people trying to interpret their tattoos. like “goddammit is this dog supposed to represent loyalty or do they just really fuckin love dogs??”)

Yuri!!! On Stage Event Report!

So today (4/29/2017) I went to the Yuri on Ice Yuri on Stage event. To clarify though, I was not at the actual Tokyo event, rather a live viewing at a local movie theater. Which of course does alter the experience but it’s the next best thing. At first I thought the theater was only doing the afternoon session, but very last minute I ended up being able to attend both!

“Do you wanna have kids one day?”

Jimin tilted his head as if to ponder the idea before tugging you across the bed until you were leaning against his chest, curious eyes catching your own.

“Sure, I mean one day. One day, far, far away,” He said, pointing his finger off into the distance jokingly.

You laughed, hand skimming along the back of his neck. “Yeah, me too.”

“Any particular reason why you’re asking?” He said as he began playing with the strands of your hair.

“I dunno,” You shrugged. “We’ve been dating for a long time, just thought that it’s something we should know about each other.”

Jimin nodded, “No, you’re right. It’s kind of something you should figure out before things get too far in the relationship… Guess we waited a bit too long, but we’re on the same page, so that’s good,” He smiled, leaning down to place a short peck against your lips.

“So that means you think that information will be put to good use one day?” You asked, quirking your brow to insinuate.

💜A Tarot Spread For Gaining Closure and Letting Go 💜

I made this spread the other night, I’ve recently been pondering a friendship that I never really let go of. This spread is intended to help you gain closure; it could be a relationship, an event, situation, or person. Whatever you need help letting go of and healing from. I hope this is able to help others the way it helped me. As always, I love you and wish you the best.

First Card: This card represents something you may already know but it can help you gain a clear view on why you’re still thinking about the person/situation. Why is this something I’m still thinking about?

Second Card: This card should help you understand why everything played out the way it did, it can be hard to gain closure when you don’t understand why something happened. This helps you understand the point of the relationship, situation, etc. (I.e. did they use you, was it a learning experience, poor communication, etc.) What was the point of this happening?

Third Card: One difficult thing about closure is not understanding what you were supposed to learn. It can be heard to look back and reflect without emotions clouding our judgment. What can you take away from this experience to make you stronger? What have I learned from this?

Fourth Card: Cards four through six will all be self-care and healing cards albeit for different things. This card represents what you can or should do to heal emotionally. What can I do to heal emotionally?

Fifth Card: It can be hard on you mentally in situations that need closure, I personally loose sleep and start to obsess over it in unhealthy ways. Try to find ways to remind yourself to take care of yourself, drink enough water, take a nap, etc. What can I do to heal mentally?

Sixth Card: It can also take a toll on you spiritually. We’re all affected in different ways and that’s okay. What can I do to heal spiritually?

Seventh Card: This is the final card in the reading, this can represent the final outcome of you following this advice or perhaps it’s another piece of advice. It’s what you need to hear most. Is there anything else that can help me gain closure, if not what is the outcome??

You can see some of my readings and spreads here and you can get your own reading by me here.

Somewhere in New York State is a boy with sunflowers for hands. Or there isn’t, but I thought there might be. There are at least twelve ways to make a myth out of a man but there’s only one good way to tend to something after you plant it. I expected you to know this. You had such a knack for making things grow in me. Somewhere in New York State is a girl drowning in a metaphor or thinking about a crosswalk or trying to figure out the difference between a partner and a muse; and she’s coming up empty-handed because you can’t look her in the face anymore. Aren’t you supposed to be able to wave before you cross the street to avoid me? What is every poem about if not this? You needed to love something other than yourself to feel alive and it wasn’t me. So you’re human. So you’re more boy than myth and all the flowers are left wilting. I named something in my garden after you and it died. I put your name in this poem and it ended.

There Are Now 2 LGBT Characters On Disney

In case you missed it, last friday, June 23rd, was a huge night for LGBT representation. Two shows currently airing on Disney Channel, one in the UK and one in the US, featured scenes with characters revealed as LGBT. Josh played by Joshua Sinclair-Evans on The Lodge and Cyrus Goodman played by Joshua Rush on Andi Mack.  Spoilers for the shows and my thoughts below.

On The Lodge Josh is talking to a friend and when the conversation turns to girls, well one girl in particular, Josh casually states that she’s not his type and then clarifies later that he’s not interested in any girls because “girls aren’t really my type.”  It was refreshing to see him come out in such a casual way.  I must admit I’ve never seen The Lodge before so I don’t know too much about his character or the show but I’m certainly going to be checking it out.

On Andi Mack we’ve seen Cyrus interacting with his friend Jonah for a whole season and it seemed obvious that he’s had a crush on him. We also knew from an article in the New York Times that there would be a story line involving a boy coming to terms with his sexuality. Unlike The Lodge, Cyrus hasn’t said out loud who he is interested in yet but with a very simple action our suspicions were confirmed.  In the finale, while Jonah was talking with Amber about Andi she said “if she turns to look back at you it means that she likes you and not just as a friend.” Jonah leaves before he sees that Andi looks back and then a few seconds later so does Cyrus. Cyrus likes Jonah!  (There’s even a video of the cast watching this scene together and cheering ecstatically when Cyrus looks back.)  This was a very intentional moment and I appreciate how they executed this scene.  Andi looks back and that clearly implies that she likes Jonah it makes sense she’s the lead of the show, she’s said many times that she likes him, the viewer easily accepts that she looked back because she likes him.  Then we see Cyrus do the exact same thing are we supposed to come to a different conclusion because he’s a boy and looked back.  Absolutely not. The show has already been renewed so this story line will continue and develop next season.

I’m really happy to see Disney taking these steps to bring representation to their network. Everyone who watches Disney needs role models and characters they can relate to and that’s been lacking for a long time!  If you aren’t watching already I’d recommend you check them out and spread the word so these shows can stay on the air!

MBTI Types as Things They Do Right After They Say They’re Going to Do Something Productive

(first of all thanks for reading past that mess of a title)

ENFP: Literally anything else they deem at all important that HAS TO BE DONE RIGHT NOW

ENFJ: Find someone to talk them in to/out of it

ENTP: *laughs* “just kidding”

ENTJ: Lowkey guilt you for not working too

ESFP: *sigh* *doesn’t move*

ESFJ: Awkwardly sit and wait for everyone else to prepare to do it with them

ESTP: Sulk for a while due to the mere idea of work

ESTJ: Try to get other people to do it with them

INFP: Stall x 100000 and stay on tumblr for “just a bit longer”

INFJ: “wow, I am suddenly really hungry; how about that”

INTP: Reevaluate how important the thing actually is

INTJ: Try to find a more reasonable time to do it, which is conveniently far later in time

ISFP: Absentmindedly doodle or play with things around them

ISFJ: Try to help someone else with something more interesting instead

ISTP: Try to find any way out of it

ISTJ: Something else that they consider productive, just not the thing they were supposed to do

I have so many Anduin feels

Clearly, if you couldn’t tell, and I wanted to write it down otherwise I feel like I might explode from emotions. This entire cinematic was beyond beautiful. Blizzard really went above and beyond in the artistic department - everything looked so damn -real-, which took my breath away. But the main thing that really struck with me is the fact that you can clearly see Anduin’s personality in this moment. So please excuse me, but there’s a lot of pics and a long opinion below the cut.

When we first see him, he’s got the lion helmet on, looking all badass. Even after he’s knocked off his feet, he gets back up and proceeds to go after the troll who tries to kill him, granting us this amazing image -

Looks like he’s channeling Varian to me. He’s standing all, big and trying to be imposing. And almost immediately after, they focus on his face, going from this -

- to this -

Look at him. Look at that face. This isn’t a life-long trained/skilled warrior. This isn’t a battle-hardened paladin who’s fought for years and years. This is a child, a teenager (WoWpedia says seventeen, and we all know how Blizzard is with lore, but it does sound about right), who has been shielded from the harshness of actual war for most of his life. War is brutal; war is dirty and cruel and this world has seen it constantly. And I don’t know how much time will have passed from Legion to this expansion, but regardless.

He looks so sad, almost out of place and worried, and just…-scared-. Like the sudden realization of what he’s in the middle of, of what he’s leading here - not Genn, not his father, him. He’s the one who’s leading the armies of the Alliance, thousands of soldiers against an army equally as powerful. Stormwind and the Alliance could fall in this moment and it would be his fault. And I think it all comes at him at once. This is what his father was talking about, it’s what he was trying to protect him from.

But this is Anduin we’re talking about. This isn’t a warmongering character, we all know how much he would prefer to solve things peacefully, and (I’m keeping my fingers crossed that Blizzard doesn’t totally and completely butcher his character of course) it must have been something to drive him to this point. Look - His mother died when he was a baby, his father was gone most of his life and was only around for a few precious years before he was killed, his ‘aunt’ Jaina has been MIA until lately and Velen is who knows where. I’m hoping we’ll get an answer to that between then and now, but my point is this - Anduin, High King of the Alliance, leader that everyone looks to for guidance and support, really doesn’t have a support system himself. He doesn’t have anyone he can really depend on. The only one who’s been shown to constantly be around is Genn, and whether for good or ill, I suppose it’s something, but it’s not enough. He’s probably been struggling to keep things together for a while. I doubt he’s been eating or sleeping much.

And what does he do, surrounded by death and destruction of hundreds of lives? We see that looks around the battlefield in a moment of calm and is clearly distressed by it.

It’s in this moment that I think he really shines, no pun intended. We know what his father would do in this situation, we know what other characters would do. But Anduin is different, it’s what makes him so special in this game. He looks at his father’s sword, a sword of legend no less -

You can see the confusion, the uncertainty, the self-doubt even now. Shalamayne responded to him yes, but you can absolutely see him still coming to terms with it. He still feels like he isn’t worthy of it.
“I cannot do this father. I can’t be the hero you were. I can’t be the king you were…”

And no, he isn’t. That’s what I love him. He’s his own man, finally able to step up and make his own imprint on history. Because of that, I think it’s important to note the imagery of him throwing the sword back down -

Something about this really strikes me not only as beautiful but incredibly moving as well. There is some very deep in this shot. He’s beginning to accept the fact that no, he isn’t his father. No, he isn’t a warrior. That isn’t his path. What does he do instead, then, when surrounded by injured and dying soldiers? Do what he does best, of course -

Heal. Resurrect. Anduin has had an affinity with the Light that few have had before, especially humans. We know this and it’s really beautiful to finally see it in such a wonderful cinematic. I think it’s really touching that if you look closely you can even see tears in his eyes -

We know from lore that Anduin has resurrected his father before, which is something that happens so rarely in canon. Casting such a spell for one person would be difficult enough, but an entire army? That’s practically impossible. We also know that for a character to channel such a spell for a long period of time takes a lot of stamina and strength. It’s exhausting. But he doesn’t give up. He doesn’t stop to take a breather. He stands tall with the rejuvenated army surrounding him once more.

“Stand as one!”

Which just hearkens back to previous cinematics, I think.

“What am I supposed to do now?”
“What a king -must- do.”

“For the Alliance!”

What I find most interesting is that he doesn’t say ‘For Azeroth!’ like his father in the previous expansion, he says Alliance. Which makes me wonder just what has happened to cause all of this.

The point of all this rambling is this - Anduin Llane Wrynn has been underestimated both by other characters as well as players for too long. Many people call him names for wanting to find a peaceful way to solve problems and for some reason that’s a bad thing? I don’t understand it, but I’m so happy and proud to see him standing alongside us on the battlefield. This boy does not get enough credit and I’m glad they finally have let him do something amazing. He is much stronger than I think even he realizes, and I would love it if people would finally give him the love and recognition he deserves.

Anduin is too good for this world and we don’t deserve him.

fictionandmusic  asked:

wow your writing in the gods and monsters series is amazing! i've always loved greek myths and you bring them to life and add a different twist that makes it better than anything i've ever read about mythology!! if you have time, could you do a continuation of the Hades and Kore story? Kore/Persephone is one of my fav goddesses and i can't wait to see where you take her story!

(continuation of: x, x)

The first time Kore throws herself into the River Styx, she is reckless and stubborn and feels like she has so little left to lose, only an overbearing mother she yearns to escape.

The first time Kore throws herself into the River Styx, she fights and swims and survives. She is picked up on the shore and carried to safety in Hades’s arms.

The second time Kore throws herself into the River Styx, she is reckless and stubborn and feels like she has everything to lose. She lets the water take her, and she drowns.

The second time Kore throws herself into the River Styx, it kills her.

~

Kore wakes up after falling unconscious while being carried by the King of the Underworld. Her skin is fully healed, no longer blistering and burning. She’s naked under the soft blankets, but she was naked when she dove into the river, so she’s not too worried about it.

“I didn’t know you were a goddess,” someone says, and she turns her head to see a little girl sitting by her bedside with black skin and grey eyes and hair. She’s glaring at her, “I wouldn’t have tried to kill you if I’d known. You shouldn’t touch my water – it’s not good for you. It will kill you. It does not care what you are.”

“It did not kill Achilles,” Kore says, pushing herself up so the blanket falls to her waist.

The young Lady Styx huffs and gets to her feet, pushing open the long wardrobe on the other side of the room. “It did, actually. What my river takes, it keeps.” Kore raises an eyebrow. Styx doesn’t explain further, only places a dark blue gown on the bed. “Hecate put some of her old things in here for you. She’s taller and thinner than you are. But you are a goddess. You can make it work.”

“I can,” Kore agrees, amused. She pushes herself out of bed, and her hair falls into her face.

Her hair has been a dark brown her whole life.

She strides over to the wardrobe and pulls it open, starring at herself in the mirror.

Her hair has turned pure, snowy white. The hair on her head of course, but the rest of it too. Her eyebrows, the light hair on her arms and legs, going down her navel, the hair between her legs – all of it white.

“You’re lucky nothing worse happened,” Styx scolds. “My river usually does much worse than that.”

Kore touches one of her new, pale eyebrows. “That is an excellent point, Lady Styx.”

With some clever magic, Kore pulls on the now perfectly fitting gown. Hecate doesn’t tend to bother with them, only dresses up if there’s some sort of celebration that requires her attendance – something that hasn’t happened in a long time, ever since she irritated Zeus and Poseidon to the point that they called for her head on a spike. The gown is old, even by their standards, but its beautifully crafted, stars plucked from the heavens and sewn into the bodice, waves from the seven seas curling around the long skirt. “This is very valuable,” she says, “Is Hecate sure she would like me to have it?”

Styx shrugs, “She said it was a young woman’s dress, and however she may look, she’s not a young woman any more. It’s my favorite dress of hers – I was quite cross that she gave it to you, but I did almost kill you. So I suppose that’s fair enough.”

“Ah,” Kore says, not quite sure how to respond to that. “I see.”

Styx grins at her and grabs her hand. The child goddess’s skin is freezing to the touch, but Kore doesn’t flinch back out of fear of being rude. “Come with me now. Hades wants to see you.”

The girl leads her through the twisting hallways to a polished wooden door. It’s not the throne room, where Kore thought that the girl would take her. She’s seen the grand inner chambers of Poseidon and Zeus’s homes before, of the lesser gods even, and Kore braces herself for something just as grandiose and intimidating.

Styx opens the door and pushes her inside before vanishing.

Kore blinks and looks around.

The room is smaller than she expected. It’s lined with shelves packed with scrolls, and mounted on the opposite wall is large map that’s constantly shifting and changing, and it take her almost a full minute of looking at it to realize it’s a map of the underworld.

“You’re looking better.”

Kore’s eyes snap down, and it’s only then that she notices the figure of Hades, King of the Underworld, hunched over his desk. His hair pulled in messy low ponytail, and there are dark bags under his eyes. He’s in a simple black chiffon, one no more presumptuous than any mortal noble would wear. He’s the most unassuming, unremarkable thing in already unassuming, unremarkable room.

Suddenly, she feels over-dressed.

“Thank you,” she says, not knowing what else to say. She feels – awkward, almost, in front of him, which isn’t something she’s ever felt with anyone. She wants to climb into his lap and rest her head against his shoulder. She wants to force him into some proper clothes for a king. She wants to put him to bed and make him sleep until he loses those bruises under his eyes.

She’s never wanted to do any of those things for anyone before. She doesn’t even know him.

Although – she knows he came for her. That he found an intruder into his realm and picked her up and soothed her, carried her to safety and washed her of the corrosive water of the Styx. He placed her in his palace and did not touch her as so many other men would have touched her.

So perhaps she does know him. At least a little.

He rests his chin on his hand while he looks at her. “Hermes came with a message from your mother, demanding your return.” She doesn’t even have the time to panic before he continues, “I denied her. If she wishes to speak to me in person, I told her she is welcome to step into my realm herself.”

“She won’t do that,” Kore says, “She fears your realm. She fears how her power means nothing in your domain.”

Kore had never known her mother to fear anything – except the land of the dead. She’d grown up thinking Hades must be a hulking, formidable figure to pull fear from her mother’s breast, but that’s clearly not the case.

He smiles, and it’s the first hint of sharpness she’s seen from him. “I know. There will be consequences, of course. But those are my concern. You are a guest of my realm, Goddess of Spring. Walk where you please, and do as you please. No one will stop you.”

He’s already looking back down at his papers, eyebrows drawing together as he scratches out a series of numbers and rewrites them. It’s a clear dismissal, but Kore can’t bring herself to move.

She’s never met this man before. Yet he stands against her mother, yet he welcomes her to his realm, yet he permits unrestricted access to his home, yet he grants her every freedom he’s able.

“Thank you,” she says again. He gives an absent nod, already reaching for another scroll.

She leaves as quietly as she came.

“I feel like I’ve got a message in my music and how I carry myself. I feel like the least celebrity person in a very ‘celebrity’ environment, so with that comes a unique mindset…” he trails off. “You know, we all have the same problems, that’s the bottom line – they just look a lot different. Those fundamental things that make you feel upset, they’re the same. I think you tend to think that you’re going to be famous, you’re going to be in a band, and then life’s complete. But no, I think it’s about having perspective over the whole thing… even when you’re on top of the world, you have to keep thinking about the next step.”

daily coffee magic

I drink coffee instead of eating breakfast like the broke uni student I am but that doesn’t mean I can’t put some magic in it. I use a French press and pour it over a filter of herbs, but if you have a drip machine you can just put your different things in with the coffee grinds! (fun fact you’re supposed to re-filter French press coffee to get rid of that sludgy mix and filter out possible carcinogens, but it’s not absolutely necessary)

I like to call this my ‘get up and get shit done’ mix

cinnamon–fortune, prosperity

cloves–cleansing, wards against negative energies

ginger–energy, success, motivation

salt–cleansing

vanilla–calm, direction, caring

Intent is on getting the energy and willpower to get whatever you have to done for the day without letting negative energy/opinions get you down, and without getting off topic. It also just makes your coffee taste good.

Everyone Comes from Earth

Everyone comes from Earth. No, not that one. Not yours. Well, you come from your Earth.

I suppose I should clarify. One of the most startling thing scientists find upon making first contact with the Federation is that nearly every species named their planet Earth. In their own language, of course. They named it for what supported them, helped them grow, and allowed them to flourish. Moons, stars, interstellar objects, those all have wildly different naming schemes.

But, everyone comes from Earth. Or, the closest thing they have. Most aquatic species in the federation actually come from Sea, for example. The avian species largely come from Sky.

Now, this isn’t always the case. There have been a few one-off races with unusual worlds, but they’re pretty self explanatory in context. The Aruill come from Island, because their world is comprised of large archipelagoes rather than substantial landmasses. The Cutroolim come from Valley, because their uniquely damaged world has a small habitable zone formed as a massive rift valley. The Variff come from Twilight, because their world was tidally locked and only the twilight between day and night could support life.

But still, the meaning is the same. Everyone comes from Earth. Everyone, from Sky to Sea to somewhere in between, comes from a world that supported them, cared for them, and is named for what it is. Everyone comes from a world named for their home.

In fact, it’s such a common aspect of interspecies exchange that “Everyone comes from Earth” is rapidly becoming a near universal colloquialism. It roughly translates to something along the lines of “No matter the differences between us, there is common ground.” That doesn’t quite get the intent of the phrase, I know. But, I’m sure your kind will pick up the nuances of the phrase as time goes on.

So, human. Thank you for joining the Federation. We welcome yet another Earth, and look forward to what you bring with you.

I made some Gem redesigns! I’m planning to do some of the homeworld gems next.

My main motivator for these redesigns was the fact that I’m super disappointed that all the gems look so plain…(like for example I was really hoping Sapphire wasn’t going to have legs or that Peridot actually had cool floaty fingers) and I’ve seen some really neat monster-esc designs for them!

I wanted to do my own little spin on making the gems a bit less human while also adding in a few things that I thought I’d like to add/change (like their colours and Garnets hair most of all lol)

@stevenuniverseredesigns

Some explanation for each of them under the cut!

I know that, in theory, love is supposed to be soft.
I have felt soft love, before, but—
for the last two months, love has been
sledgehammer to my nervous system.
It keeps taking me out at the knees.
For the thousandth time, I remind myself
that want and need are two different things.
I remind myself,
to be needed is not love.
I kiss like a seed trying desperately
to put down roots in wet soil.
I keep trying to turn wild animal.
He keeps trying to make a home from my skeleton.
Neither of us is doing this the right way.
In spite of that, we keep crashing our bodies together:
expecting someone to catch us even when we’ve become
falling anvils,
cartoon pianos,
sticks of live dynamite.
I’ve done this song and dance before. I already know
I will let him turn me shelter
even while my roof is leaking.
I’ll put my mouth everywhere that hurts.
I’m good at it: unearthing my foundations
and giving them to other people.
It’s no wonder I have trouble standing on my own two feet.
It’s no wonder I’m so prone to slide downhill.
Even then, I still believe in a love that will meet me
at my own altar.
A love that patches the holes in the ceiling.
A love who comes, heart in hand,
and means it.

I always saw myself as more of a watcher, although I suppose my siblings might have a different viewpoint on it. Actually, one of my least favorite things about being even remotely recognizable is that I’m not allowed to watch in the same way anymore. You know, you try not to hide from the world because you want to still participate and still be inspired by what’s around you. But I think that especially in the way that we’re exposed today as actors— and I’m not going to use the word celebrities, because I think there is a differentiation— it makes it hard to be a voyeur and really pull from what’s around you.
