i was raised by a fisherman

“What’s that?” Jamie raised his head, listening. “What?”

“I thought I heard shouting.”

“I expect it’s the seals,” I said, but before the words were out of my mouth, he was up and striding toward the cliff’s edge.

The cove was still full of curling mist, but the wind had uncovered the seals’ island, and it was clearly visible, at least for the moment. There were no seals on it now, though. A small boat was drawn up on a sloping rock shelf at one side of the island. Not a fisherman’s boat; this one was longer and more pointed at the prow, with one set of oars. As I stared, a man appeared from the center of the island. He carried something under one arm, the size and shape of the box Jamie had described. I didn’t have long to speculate as to the nature of this object, though, for just then a second man came up the far slope of the island and into sight. This one was carrying Young Ian. He had the boy’s half-naked body slung carelessly over one shoulder. It swung head down, arms dangling with a limpness that made it clear the boy was unconscious or dead.

“Ian!” Jamie’s hand clamped over my mouth before I could shout again.

“Hush!” He dragged me to my knees to keep me out of sight. We watched, helpless, as the second man heaved Ian carelessly into the boat, then took hold of the gunwales to run it back into the water. There wasn’t a chance of making the descent down the chimney and the swim to the island before they succeeded in making their escape.

More book edits, this time with some more characters who were completely changed or eliminated from the movie, and of course, the iconic moving castle itself.

Howl’s Moving Castle, was well, much more castle-y in the book. “The castle was even uglier up close. It was far too tall for its size and not a very regular shape… built of huge black blocks, like coal.” It was literally a massive castle, floating just far enough off the ground to move, bumping and rumbling and grinding over the ground.

In the book, you meet both of Sophie’s younger sisters, Lettie and Martha, who are much more developed and have their own roles to play in the storyline. Sophie and Lettie have a different mother, who died when they were still babies. Their father Mr. Hatter then married Fanny, who gave birth to Martha, the youngest daughter, and raise all three children with equal kindness until Mr. Hatter’s death left them with financial trouble and she had to send them to start apprenticeships.

Michael Fisher I’ve done edits of before, but he was somewhere between Lettie and Martha in age instead of being very young, a fisherman’s son from Porthaven who ended up becoming Howl’s apprentice after Howl found him orphaned and homeless and sleeping in his doorway to get out of the weather.

In the movie, Wizard Sulliman is actually a composite character of the (male) Wizard Sulliman in the books and Howl’s old magic teacher Mrs. Pentstemmon, described as the grandest and most intimidating woman Sophie had ever seen. Neither of them were antagonists, instead the main villain was the Witch of the Waste, who was working an evil scheme that involved cursing Howl.

!!!!!!!!!

I knew that group shot back in The Return meant something. Sour Cream IS related to Onion! And the fisherman guy who spoke Peanuts-like gibberish is… SC’s step-dad?

So who’s SC’s blood-father? And mother, for that matter? Suddenly, a new mystery appears… Surely someone’s around at their house because the fisherman’s out at sea all the time. Otherwise, that would mean SC is home alone to raise Onion.

(Please don’t answer or spoil it, I’ll find out eventually. I think.)

i fucking love come dine w/ me its like: did you make the bread yourself? did you organically raise the lamb from which this shank came?? did you go to a laboratory and inoculate this yoghurt with bacteria and incubate it before adding home grown strawberries??? did you travel half way across the world and live for 3 months in a hut as a fisherman to find the juiciest hand fished prawns for your cocktail???? no?????? then i guess i’ll have to deduct points sorry :-///

     Jack Morrison
     Human
     Fisherman / Sailor

Jack is a well seasoned sailor born and raised on the Northern East coast of America. Frequently as a child his father would be away, off somewhere in the vast oceans, catching god knows what and earning what money he could. On shore, Jack’s mother worked at the market selling catch. When Jack was twenty, his father went overboard and drowned at sea. His body was never recovered. For most of his young adult life Jack followed in his father’s footsteps wearily, his mother begging him day after day, not to go where she could not protect him. When Jack was twenty nine, his mother died of a heart attack, leaving him their coastline house and a small fortune in saved money. And yet, Jack took to the sea. Each day he grows more reckless and more willing to do dangerous work. He has no attachments to the land, nothing keeping him in his hometown. He lives and works for the love of the sea.

For it is all he has ever known.

You know what I desperately need, more than anything?

For the Trainer Class system to be a real thing that we can interact with.

To be able to join the Fisherman/Bird Keeper/Bug Catcher Classes by raising those types of Pokemon. A Novice Fisherman has caught a few Pokemon with their Old Rod, so they get rewarded with a Good Rod. A Bird Keeper gets a stat buff to all of the Bird Pokemon they use in battles, and training their birds allows them to raise through the ranks, giving them access to special items and the opportunity to battle with other famous Bird-type trainers.

Are you someone who traditionally ignores the regional birds/bugs/rodents? Well you just got a reason to raise all different kinds of Pokemon!

But it doesn’t stop there!! Rangers are especially skilled at hunting down wild Pokemon with rare Moves and Abilities. They’re also natural explorers and the items they find are much more likely to be rare and valuable.

Breeders have a knack for hatching eggs and as they rise through the ranks they get access to certain items that help with breeding.

Poke Fans adore every single one of their Pokemon and are able to bond with any Pokemon quickly and easily.

Professor’s Aides know so much about Pokemon biology that they can teach their evolved Pokemon moves that can usually only be learned through breeding.

You can join any Class that you’ve met the requirements for (maybe to become a Breeder you need to have hatched at least 3 eggs) and you can switch Class at any time (think Fantasy Life).

Every Class has its own special outfits and accessories to customise your Trainer with.

Please.

The possible history of Sour Cream

Vidalia had a one night stand with Marty which lead to Sour Cream being born. She raise Sour Cream and never told him about his father.

She eventually met and married Yellowtail.

Yellowtail has heard of Marty through Vidalia. He is worried that his stepson’s interest in music would lead Sour Cream to be an unsavory person like his biological father which is why Yellowtail tries to convince Sour Cream to become a fisherman instead of a DJ. This argument would cause a rift in their relationship.

Vidalia and Yellowtail eventually had Onion.

Sour Cream and Onion do not hang out due to different interests.

Eventually he meets his best friends.

I feel like we learned a lot about Sour Cream’s backstory even though he appeared in like two episodes.

James Flint Appreciation Week
Day 1 - Favorite Quote

I told you of my grandfather who raised me. A fisherman in Padstow. Well, in his youth he was a deckhand on a privateer off the coast of Massachusetts. And one night he was alone on the late watch at anchor in the Boston Harbor when he sees this man climbing out of the water and onto his ship.

A stranger.

Now, my grandfather thought about ringing the bell, but curiosity got the better of him. The stranger approaches my grandfather and asks him for a little rum. Man said that he’d fled his fishing trawler. Accused of killing another man. And when asked his name, the man simply replied Mr. Flint.

This stranger, he never said whether he was guilty of the killing or why he chose that ship or where he was bound, he just sat there. Eventually, he asked my grandfather for a little more rum from below. My grandfather went off to fetch it, but when he returned the man was gone. My grandfather was in Boston for a month after that. Never heard a word about a killing or a fugitive at large. It was as if the sea had conjured that man out of nothing and then taken him back for some unknowable purpose.

When I first met Mr. Gates and he asked me my name I feared the man I was about to create. I feared that someone born of such dark things would consume me were I not careful. And I was determined only to wear him for a while and then dispose of him when his purpose was complete. And I thought of that story.

Am I ready to let him go? Truth is every day I’ve worn that name I’ve hated him a little more. I’ve been ready to return him to the sea for a long time.
