There is stuff happening out there, and no one is doing anything about it. People are just getting away with awful things. I’m trying to make some of that right.”

Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok Joo is one of the best kdrama of all time and it continues to be overlooked as hell. It doesn’t even rank top 20 in Korea despite having one of the most well-written, organically developed plot AND characters for a kdrama. This is the first kdrama I’ve ever seen where they actually show a healthy, supportive relationship between the main leads without using over-exaggerated storylines to drive the romance. Also it’s one of the few Korean dramas that actually talks about mental health issues without downplaying it or use it as a plot device for ratings. I honestly love this drama so much and it deserves so much more love. It’s so fluffy and fun but also serious and relatable when it’s important.

excuses ive heard from people who did not want to watch the get down
  • idk, the plot looks boring –> it’s about ambitious young people who try to find a place in the society they were thrown into and i think anyone can relate to it
  • i watch too many shows! –> bruh, the first part of the season is only 6 episodes. i’m sure you can plan it in you schedule
  • i don’t know about hip hop or disco! –> me neither and it did not stop me from understanding the plot!
  • i don’t like musicals! –> it’s not Les Misérables, there is only like 4 major scenes where the characters sing/rap and it’s not corny in any way - it makes sense and the songs are hella catchy and amazing

so time to wake up y’all! part 2 is dropping on April 7th! just give it a try, i swear you’re gonna love it

Honestly, if Marlene manages to fix every single plot hole in 7B she is a literal genius, because I cannot for the life of me figure out how to fix this mess of a show, like, I have built/read theories about pretty much every character on the show being -A, and there are still some details that don’t add up, every time. I just. Ugh. I just need to watch those last episodes and finally let my brain rest in peace.

okay I think chuck may honestly be my favorite show ever and it’s a shame that not more people know about it because it’s got the best combination of comedy and actual continuing plot and it’s such an original idea and the music is so good and the actors are amazing and chuck and sarah may be one of the purest couples on tv and why are people not watching this show more

Supernatural 12x23

I honestly hate to rant but my bb Cas deserves this And yes Misha is a regular next season but couldn’t that just be Dean imagining him, or hallucinating again… Now, I understand that I am not a writer for the show, and none of us are. But seriously? Cas? Of all characters?! Rowena, I understand she was a favorite for some people, and Crowley had an honorable death (that still broke me a lil’ bit) but Casti fricking el? Cas has been a main character, no, an important character, for the past eight seasons. Supernatural won’t be he same without them. I’m not going to venture into the past few character deaths that were unjust, (Eileen, Rowena, etc.) but imma stick to my buddy Cas. Honestly, I don’t know how they could just kill off Cas like he was not important! They didn’t even give him a line! There is no reason, none at all, that they should’ve killed him off. I’m honestly trying so hard to think of one good reason…ONE. I also understand that a lot of you think Chuck or the devil spawn is going to bring him back, and I know they’ve killed all of hem off multiple times before but you have to remember that it is the twelfth season going on thirteen. If the thirteenth isn’t the final season then there can’t be an awful lot more can there? Cas is dead. For good. But what he left. WHO he left. Is in frickin ruins. Castiel is an angel of the stinking lord, he could’ve been if some importance in the next season. And he didn’t even get a final line! The last thing he heard was Dean screaming his name and he didn’t even get a final line. Cas deserved a whole lot better than this shiz. Now let’s talk about Dean. The man that made Castiel fall from heaven. The one that was broken when Cas was still in purgatory and he wasn’t. The man that went through heaven and hell to save Cas. The man that gave Cas a mixtape The man that got nervous when Cas didn’t answer his phone for a few days The man that loved Cas, platonically or not, no one can deny the more than profound bond that they share. (No I am not making this about Destiel,) Dean was broken when Cas was in purgatory, but he knew that Cas was more than likely still alive, and Dean was broken at the fact that Cas wanted him to leave purgatory without him that he would rather think he left Cas than the alternative which was hat Cas didn’’t want to go home with Dean. Now, knowing Dean was empty and miserable when Cas was in Purgatory. We can’t even imagine what horrors await Dean in the next season. He watched Cas die right in front of him. Dean crumpled to his knees at the sight of Cas dead and his wings burnt around the two of them. The next season can go in a few directions with Cas’s death One: they can bring Cas back and all will be merry again. (Highly unlikely) Two: Dean can be extremely depressed about Cas to the point where he is hallucinating again. So broken this time that I don’t think there would ever be a happy ending for Dean. (Likely) Three: Dean doesn’t get depressed. Now, if this is the direction the writers are planning to go in…I will honestly quit watching. They have already ruined every single characters plot line, and if they do this then they are digging their own graves. I’m not saying I want Dean to be broken and depressed, believe me when I say I would want Cas back no matter what, but honestly, it would be so out of character for Dean not to care that I would slam myself into a brick wall. Dean cares too much about everything, but doesn’t show it. If Dean hallucinates Cas after purgatory I bet my ass that he will hallucinate after he dies right in front of him! (Unlikely) Four: Dean can sell his soul again. He talked to Mary about doing so earlier in the episode. So maybe this is what the writer have planned? Honestly this wouldn’t be in character-like of Dean. So I wouldn’t be surprised, but I would be so heart broken if it did because we all know Sammy’ll try and stop it and then when it does happen, Cas’ll be so mad at Dean. Ugh. (Highly unlikely) Five: Dean can be so hellbent on revenge that he rips apart worlds just to avenge Cas. Honestly,, this’d be entertaining. Now believe me, I don’t like my Dean-o to be hurt. So any of these directions hurts like hell. But. This would be likely of Dean. This is one of his characteristics, so I don’t doubt that the writers may use this (likely) Castiel deserved better, Misha deserves better, We deserve better than this. Supernatural will not be the same with out Castiel. Neither will team free will. Nature’s first green is gold, Her hardest hue to hold. Her early leaf’s a flower; But only so an hour. Then leaf subsides to leaf. So Eden sank to grief, So dawn goes down to day. Nothing gold can stay. -Robert Frost We love you, we will miss you, goodbye Cas Wait you know what?! Cas isn’t right. Goodbye, Castiel Winchester

My Top Anime Recommendations

1. Haikyuu!! This is about volleyball. One of my first anime obsessions. It has so much comedy tho, and a lot of salty ass bitches and APPRECIATION FOR SHORT PEOPLE. I really recommend if ur new to anime. So far, I’m pretty sure it’s over but season 4 might be coming in 2017. It’s a sports anime about volley, as I mentioned and any mention of volleyball will trigger characters.

 2. Yuri!!! On Ice A very gay ice skating show. Most of you have probably already watched it. It makes me cry way too much. And there’s a lot of kids you might want to adopt. Basically, if you ever wanted anything from your otp, watch this show and you’ll get double of that. Disadvantage is that it raises expectations for all animes smh.

 3. Tokyo Ghoul THIS IS THE SADDEST AND MOST BAD ASS ANIME EVER. Honestly, it made me so so so so upset. I cried a lot. But it’s like super cool. It has gruesome parts and a lot of things that might trigger suicidal people, those who hurt themselves or those who’ve been abused. If blood makes you uncomfortable, don’t watch. Other than that, it’s actually got a great plot and story and characters are amazingly developed. There’s a guy who’s slightly deranged tho, and a drag queen but those details can be skipped over.

 4. Charlotte The reason I like this is because there’s a badass girl in this like what the fUck. They have supernatural powers and it’s cool BC the main character actually misused them like all the time it’s hilarious but later on he becomes so amazing and he’s so ffing domeSTIC AND CUTE. Also he’s very salty  AND OMG TE FINALE WAS AMAZING LIKE THE GUY, HE IS SO FUCKING COOL IT HAD ME CRYING SO HARD DEFFO ONE OF THE BESTEST ANIME

5. Bungou Stray Dogs Literally you will fall in love with the main character so fast lmao. Suicide mentions like, constantly. At first, it’s supposed to be humor but in the second season; the arc of one of the characters is so good and will explain why he mentions suicide so much. AGAIN WITH THE HUMOR. And unlike other supernatural animes I’ve watched, this one doesn’t make people with powers the bad guys. They’re very appreciated.

6. Boku Dake Ga Inai Machi / Escape The plot is amazing. Made me cry a lot. The characters are great. Basically, it’s about how this guy goes back in time to prevent things from happening and oh mY GOSH ITS GREAT.

7. Ajin

Another super cool supernatural one. definitely worth it. Graphics are great and so are the characters. Its ongoing and the second season is about to end. you’ll seriously feel love/hate

 8. Free! Any mention of water will make main character strip. Quite gay. I haven’t watched all of it but I’m about to finish it in a few episodes. Again, this is good for anime beginners. Also, trigger warning for those who’re afraid of drowning.

9. K. That’s literally what it’s called. I think it stands for Kings but yeah. It’s also really good and it’s about head clans that are looking for a colorless king who can transfer into different people ad make them do awful things so they get targeted by the different clans (blue, red, etc)

10. Mob Psycho 100 ~ THIS IS A MUST WATCH. I keep adding new animes I know but this is important. It’s humor is on point, unexpected twists are everywhere. The characters are lovable and it’s really good for beginner supernatural anime. It’ll make you cry and laugh.

BONUS : DEATH NOTE. Okay, the plot is incredible. Things that you won’t be able to think of and they’ll leave you mind blown. Characters are human af like it’s supernatural but everything is so natural, like the nature of people. Warning: like, everyone dies. Don’t get too attached to characters. But yeah, it’s an old anime and has 37 episodes in total I think, but it’s super good!!

That’s about my top 10 (plus one bonus)

Winter Anime Final Impressions

I was supposed to do this like two weeks ago but with Gundam ending so late and me getting swept up with many things, I didn’t have the time, but here’s a quick rundown of the best and worst of the Winter season. I’m gong from best to worst and also since I watched very few shows this season, I ‘m not gonna break them down in best/meh/worst

Showa Genroku Rakugo Shinjuu: Sukeroku Futatabi-hen

A masterpiece to the very end, as heartbreaking as it was full of joy and love. There was this weird insinuation at the end that didn’t sit well with me at all and I’m not sure why they felt the need to do it, but I can overlook it because the rest of the picture is so wonderful and special and heart-wrenching. When Konatsu asked Yakumo to make her his apprentice, I actually cried. What a beautiful show. Don’t let the obscure antique Japanese art keep you from experiencing one of the best anime of this decade.

Ao no Exorcist: Kyoto-hen

I was a bit worried about this one because lately, when an “old” show gets a sequel many years after it last aired, said sequel turns out underwhelming and poorly done. See D.Grayman HALLOW (which also adapted my favorite arc from that manga) and Berserk (production values aside, the decline of this is due to Miura’s gross storytelling, so I guess it was inevitable). But I was more than surprised and ecstatic to see this rendition of the Kyoto arc did justice on the source material, with excellent production values, a good pace and wonderful emotional and action scenes alike. AoEx is one of the finest examples of the battle shonen genre and that translated wonderfully to this new iteration of the anime. I can only hope we’ll see Izumo’s and Shura’s arc eventually too.

ACCA-13-ku Kansatsuka

I was a Little on the fence on this one at the start, but once they laid down all the cards and tied all the loose threads, it became absolutely amazing. I’m sorry I ever doubted you Natsume Ono, your ability to craft smart and fascinating adult stories shall never be questioned again. Definitely worth checking out if you want to try something different to your usual anime genres. Helps that the visuals are really interesting and that Mauve is such a bae. I still feel Jean was the weakest link with his absolute nonchalance, but even that somehow worked at the end. Definitely worth going through the somewhat slow initial episodes.

Yowamushi Pedal: New Generation

NGL i’m not a fan of Kaburagi, he’s so much like Naruko I don’t feel he adds anything to the team. But this is now officially the Teshima show and that compensates for the snooze that is Kaburagi because Teshima has become so fabulous and cool I’m just excited every week to see what he’ll do next. Also the First-year race was a true highlight and I’m very disappointed Sugimoto didn’t make the cut, they did a fantastic job in making him likable, so it was sad to see him lose. Hopefully he’ll get to assist Imaizumi when they’re 3rd years.

Little Witch Academia

This show’s a lot of fun, with really sweet animation and it also sports the Best Girl of the season, Sucy Manbavaaran, although I gotta say there were a bit too many fillerish episodes and it was frustrating to see them take so long to get the plot going. I’m not hating on the show, it is in fact extremely entertaining, but it’s a little lacking on the plot department. Hopefully we’ll get more of that on the second cour.

Classicaloid

I’ve never been happier of not quitting a show as I am about Classicaloid. By episode 3 I was on the verge of giving up because it wasn’t what I had expected, but I kept going and I ended falling so hard in love with this show I’m ecstatic it’s getting a second season. Once I embraced the absurdity, it became the best comedy of the season, and I honestly would watch Schubert’s fishy misadventures for 52 weeks a year. It’s an acquired taste for sure and not easy to recommend, but if you’re willing to let go of all reason, you’re sure to have a good time.

All Out!!

I have a lot of love for this show and its characters (and Sekizan’s ridiculous hair), but I’m afraid the pacing they chose basically doomed them because with the abysmal sales, it seems unlikely we’ll ever see a second season and therefore we’ll never get to see if Jinko does get to Hanazono. It’s a perfectly competent sports series, that does a really good job of developing its huge cast, definitely much better than the likes of Prince of Stride or DAYS, but its inconclusive ending is quite frustrating. I really do hope we get to see more of these boys, but Madhouse’s never been all that good with the whole getting-sequels-done so…

In spite of its low ranking, this is actually a really good show and a unique take on teenage female sexuality that you wouldn’t normally see in this mostly sexist medium. Hanabi made for a truly interesting protagonist and I liked seeing her explore herself and her relationships. I was however quite disappointed by how little focus we actually had for Hanabi and Mugi’s relationship. I felt there was more telling than showing in that regard, especially in the latter half of the show. The ending was pretty good and mature in spite of everything, and as always, I’m just really fond of all the vaginal imagery in the ED animation. Could’ve done without Moca though.

Gundam: Tekketsu Orphans

At the end of the Fall season, I expressed my concern about pointless, meaningless deaths. Clearly the Gundam writers thought I wasn’t concerned enough because the amount of characters that died pointless deaths went on to, I think, the double digits. I wouldn’t have minded the carnage if there had been some sort of payoff to the sacrifices. For example, if Shino hadn’t stupidly and conveniently missed his one shot because the show couldn’t afford to kill Rustal yet. I always felt Orga, Mika and Akihiro had a ton of death flags looming over their heads, but I certainly didn’t expect all three of them to get to the chopping block. Orga’s death was particularly random and pointless, but then again, what they did with Orga in general was very confusing. That he agreed to McGillis’s sketchy propositions to become “king of Mars” never made a whole lot of sense to me and that’s the result we got. I’ll also never get over how creepy and weird the whole Atra giving Mika a baby thing was. In short, I have very mixed feelings about it.

I could write thousands of words for everything that was wrong with this series but I think it wouldn’t make justice to the absolute experience that is watching this amazing trainwreck. Go watch it to see a masterclass of how not to anime. Honestly I had such a good time hating this show, it was so horrible in every possible way. Good job GoHands, even animate, who sponsored this show, won’t give it any publicity.

Super Lovers

I’m not sure of how this production team managed to put out 20 episodes of nothing actually happen. Like you just have to give kudos to the writers for managing to simply not do anything over the course of 6~ hours of content. No drama, no decent comedy, no character development, not even relationship development in a BL romance. It’s kind of amazing how pointless the whole thing is. The dog’s still cute and the relationship is still creepy and gross and that’s about all there is to say about this.

Although most of the shows I watched turned out great, it did feel like a weaker season because there wasn’t that much that was interesting (my Wednesdays were literally empty). Or maybe everything looks lackluster in this post-Yuri on Ice world D: But there was Rakugo and rakugo is good and I’m glad we live in an age in which such a niche, quiet and adult artistic show could be made and tell a complete story.

honestly? i’m not the type of person that writes what they’re thinking about on tumblr but after all this discourse happening i had to let this out.

when i started watching voltron i didn’t know i would’ve liked it this much, i didn’t know i would’ve considered it my favorite show ever. I’ve always liked mechas and seeing one being so well made and with so many good characters and amazing plot made me completely and utterly astonished.

seeing all this hate, all this bad stuff is making me incredibly depressed as i really love this show and i want to give it a better name.

i am a multishipper, although i have a preference for klance and i consider it my main ship (or the reason i’m breathing,,, i’m not going to go on or this will take forever), but i ship literally everything else in this show.

AND I WILL ADMIT IT! I do not like sheith that much but i like the idea of it and the dynamic they have, i like going in the tag sometimes and see the artwork because it’s amazing!! like seriously go on the sheith tag because the art is fantastic wtf???
but do i get in the tag to spread hate or make the shippers feel horrible? no, no i do not, because if people did that with klance i’d feel bad. More than bad, horrible.

what i’m trying to say here is that there’s a big difference between not liking a ship but respecting people and not liking a ship and harrassing others that do actually like it.

I just want this fandom to be better for everybody, i don’t want people to be afraid to say “oh yeah i ship this!!”

so, please, if you don’t agree with my words then ignore this post, scroll down and forget you ever read this

but if you do agree please spread the positivity around. We desperately need it.

  • Me looking at reveal possibilities online: honestly I don't think the reveal needs to be so hasty, it's important for the writers to develop the characters and only show a reveal when it effortlessly fits in with both character archs and the show's plot.
  • Me watching ml: HE'S RIGHT 👏 FUCKING 👏 THERE 👏 GIRL, CHAT NOIR SHE DOES LOVE YOU BACK OPEN THE FUCKING DOOR AND FIND OUT OOOOOHHhh my GOD .oh MY goD oh my. GOD

When you can’t wait to watch Sanvers tonight because it gives you positive representation and gives you hope that I can find anyone, but I have to deal with the forced heteronormity of Kara and mon-el that shows that the CW cares more about a straight white boy than major plot lines.

Is The White Princess Empowering?

I love period dramas. Like most things in my life, I blame Xena for that. This past week I was able to watch a special screening of The White Princess through Refinery29. It was an interesting watch. I am not a fan of Phillippa Gregory’s interpretations of the women involved in the Wars of the Roses. However, I do often enjoy these types of shows because, despite it all, I know there are good acting and eye candy. The White Princess was no different and while I was watching it and listening to the Q&A after, I was thinking about how we tell the stories of women in history. Specifically as to how they choose to portray empowerment. This got kinda long, but I hope all my other history lady loving nerds will see where I’m coming from. I’m enjoying the show, but I just gotta call something out…

The Problem With the “If it’s gay, it’s good.” Mentality.

Hello, various fandoms that will be seeing this.

While I focus on some specific fandoms and shows in this essay, rant, overanalysis, what have you, I believe that the concept is pretty far-reaching and overarching across the majority of the shows that this website freaks the fuck out over.

Gonna go out right here and establish that I’m panro-ace and male, so don’t worry, a “straightie” isn’t preaching to you about what LGBTQ+ representation should look like in media. (that is to say, though, that contrary to popular belief on here, it is possible for cishets to have the right idea about topics such as this.)

Anyway, on to what I want to talk about.

In recent months and going back to when I first joined Tumblr two and a half years ago, I’ve started noticing this disturbing trend with the types of media that we as fans consume. Particularly, those of us who are in the LBGTQ+ community.

Ask anyone who’s spent more than three seconds on here, and they can give you a seemingly endless list of shows that either fucked up representation (Steins;Gate, Rukako/Lukako specifically), baited representation, i.e. “queerbaiting” (Hetalia, Love Live Sunshine/School Idol Project), or killed off one of the two queer partners for “shock value” or some other bullshit reason (e.g. Clexa).

But then, here in late 2016, the year of Hell, we are suddenly graced with Yuri on Ice, the first mainstream anime in recent memory to have a canon gay couple in a non-BL or Yaoi setting. In other words, the first show to treat a homo pairing like a hetero one.

Naturally, we’ve exploded as a fanbase. People obsess over each screenshot pulled from the show, there’s a shipping web more complex than most ones created by spiders, and each Wednesday there’s so much YOI on my dash that sometimes I wonder how anything else is reblogged on those days. Hell, I even changed my URL the day of the reveal to celebrate. It’s a fantastic thing and that shouldn’t be overlooked.

However, it’s not all good. And I think that the popularity Yuri on Ice and shows like it, such as the aforementioned Love Live School Idol Project, Hetalia, even Hibike! Euphonium depending on who you ask (though if you ask me, I believe there’s been enough confirmation from the staff to say they’re canon, but another post for another time there) creates and sets a bad standard for representation in media as a whole.

It’s the standard of “If it’s gay, it’s good.”

We, as fandoms, have an extremely bad habit of completely ignoring a show’s flaws, shortcomings, or queerbaitings if we either 1) see our pairing become canon (Yuri on Ice) or if the show is bait-y enough that all fans have to do is connect a couple dots (NozoEli, ChikaRiko, in Love Live).

Yuri on Ice is being hailed as this masterpiece that can do no wrong, has perfect characters, a deep story, and gorgeous animation.

I’m here to say that that’s simply not the case, that we’ve been blinded by the greatness that is Viktuuri, and how dangerous that is for LGBTQ+ representation going forward.

Firstly, the characters, while not bad, are relatively one-dimensional, save for perhaps Yuuri and Viktor. There’s not much complexity to Yurio’s “tough on the outside, soft on the inside” facade, and the majority of the other side characters in the show could be described pretty vaguely.

“The fanboy one from Thiland.”

“The hot guy people ship with Yurio”

“The one that looks like Pew-Die-Pie”

As for the animation, while I admire Mappa as a studio, and I think Zankyou no Terror/Terror in Resonance is one of the best animated shows ever, I think they really dropped the ball on Yuri on Ice.

I would ask that the only explanation that this point requires is for you all to take off your manservice glasses and look at how dopey most of the skating scenes are. If you want an ice skating scene, look up the one in Death Parade, a show by Studio Madhouse a year or two ago. (Honestly, please just go watch Death Parade, it’s such an underappriciated show as a whole)

The thing that really irks me, though, is when people say the story is this complex interweaving of perspectives and plot threads, when it’s really just a bunch of flashbacks through the lens of not one, but two whole characters, those being Yuuri and Viktor.

Think Yuri on Ice is a masterpiece for having two perspectives with flashbacks? Compare it to a show such as Durarara or Baccano. I’ve watched all the way through the former while I’m still working on the latter, so I’ll use it as an example.

Off the top of my head, I can think of twelve different perspectives that the show explores and fleshes out in twelve episodes (one more than YOI)

Namely, the perspectives of:

Shizuo Heiwajima, Izaya Orihara, Masaomi Kida, Mikado Ryuugamine, Simon the sushi dude, Celty Sturlenson, Shinra Kishitani, Anri Sonohara, Walker, Erica, Kyohei, and a fucking sentient sword.

All of those characters have well-established backstories, characters, and motivations after twelve episodes.

How many characters does Yuri on Ice flesh out to that extent? Yuri, Viktor, and Yurio.

I know what you’re thinking…at least I think I do- So, ok. Yuri on Ice isn’t as deep as the fandom says it is. Big whoop. Even still, the representation it so boldly carries with that makes up for all the shortcomings, right?

No. Representation does. not. equate. to quality.

And here’s why.

Since anime is my forte, I’ll be focusing on that, but again, this is applicable to all kinds of media Eastern, Western, or otherwise.

The single greatest motivating factor for any animation studio (or any company in general) to produce a show is how much money they can make on it. So naturally, they start looking for easily exploitable means to that end. One such means is the inability of fandoms such as ours to distinguish representation or baiting from quality.

Yuri on Ice is a now the standard for representation, but let’s be honest with ourselves, it’s kind of a shitty standard, at least compared to what it could be.

Like, think about it for a second– yeah, YOI is a fantastically entertaining show, but just imagine if you had a show that was, say, on the level of quality as some of the most critically acclaimed shows of all time with that sort of representation.

That’s a great thought, isn’t it?

Well until we as fandoms start to distinguish quality from representation, there will be very little opportunity, if any at all, for the quality of the media in which said representation takes place to grow.

I am sick and tired of scrolling through my dash to see text post, after fanfic, after comic, after whatever reducing either a canonically LGBTQ+ character or a character that’s commonly baited/implied/headcannoned as such be reduced to that and one other charactaristic.

Nozomi is gay and likes parfaits.

Eli is gay and is Russian.

Yuri is gay and likes Katsudon.

Rukako is trans and shy.

Umi is gay and has a stick up her ass.

Shizuo’s gay and strong.

You see where I’m going with this?

Like, I’m perfectly ok with joking around about these characters. That’s not what I’m talking about.

But when the prevailing works of media in a fandom are these stupid crack fics or fetishy artwork that’s justified under the context of the artist “exploring their sexuality” that do nothing to develop characters in meaningful ways, that’s a problem.

It’s a problem because the creators of mainstream media look at that and think that that’s all we as a community want– one-dimensional characters in easy-to-write shows that take no effort to create yet sell oodles of merchandise due to the fact that “it has gays in it.”

And you know what? It works. Because we as LGBTQ+ people are so starved of representation in the first place, we latch on to any representaton (or teasing thereof) that we see, even if it’s really shitty.

No. If something’s gay and cliche, than it’s still cliche and therefore as bad as something that’s straight and cliche. And until we get past the mentality that that’s not the case, we won’t see any drastic improvement in either the quality and/or quantity of good representation in media.

This post was created for the sole purpose of creating discussion and raising awareness to what I believe is a big issue. Please reply, reblog, send me an ask, whatever with your own opinion of things. I’d love to hear it.

See ya!

“Johnlockers were the only ones who hated The Final Problem.”

Plenty of my friends irl are casuals who have never even heard of TJLC and are not a part of the fandom. Some ship Adl0ck, some Sherl0lly, some Sheriarty, some Johnlock, and some ship nothing. But you know what they all have in common? None of them liked TFP or even s4.

The first thing they told me when I asked them “Did you watch s4 yet?” was “Yea, pretty disappointing though.” This was without me saying anything about Johnlock, or my own opinion of TFP, or the plot holes and mischaracterisations.

So please, stop saying that Johnlockers and TJLCers are ‘trashing the show because their ship isn’t canon’. TFP was honestly just as open-ended as every other episode. I never thought I’d say this, but s4 and TFP hate is perfectly justified, because all ships aside, there was stuff that was genuinely wrong with the episode.

You can joke all you want about being a grown-ass adult watching a kid’s show, but LazyTown has taken me out of my long period of depression and exhaustion. I’m serious, before getting involved with the whole LazyTown thing, I was anxious, out of energy and indifferent about my health (mental and physical). But ever since in started watching it, I’ve been much more energetic. Watching it makes me so happy and motivated to be healthy. For example, I’ve been stretching every morning and eating much more “sportscandy”. Today, I was at a party full of sweets and junk food; my past self from a month ago would’ve shoved every cookie, cupcake and slice of pizza, instead I grabbed a reasonable portion and drank water instead of soda. This is what the whole point of the show is. To get people to eat healthier, be active, and enjoy life. I used to watch LazyTown as a child, and it was honestly my favourite. It DID make me want to be healthy and actives, and it STILL does. Magnús Scheving (the creator and actor for Sportacus) did a wonderful job to get his message across with his pure, witty, and entertaining story of LazyTown. This show is not only positive, but genuinely good. It has great music, diverse characters, wonderful design and a witty and entertaining plot. You can say anything you want about LazyTown, but in my opinion, I have never been this happy and healthy because of a show.

TL;DR : LazyTown has made me a happier and healthier person, and I am grateful.

10

I ran into 10 slides pretty fast but i still have  a lot to say HAH

Anyway here’s me throwing out some lesser-known aspects of zexal that I find really cool. Zexal is an amazing show, and I used to be skeptical about watching it, but honestly it made my life so much better. Hope you give it a watch, or at least learn something cool!!

In summary:

  • incredible symbolism/allusions/references, LORE AF
  • characters are amazing (i could write 10 essays but we’ll leave it there)
  • plot is incredible and consistent as hell
  • music is gorgeous
  • plot twists that will blow your mind, especially in retrospect
  • really gay
  • both the lighthearted and heartbreaking, handled well and given appropriate weight

Yugioh Zexal is really good, this has been a PSA

i always wanted to watch the fosters but the brallie plot and shippers always makes me not because i was adopted and i always feel like by the show and shippers validating brallie is basically like them saying i can date my brother because we aren’t blood related and honestly that’s so uncomfortable
