Kpop aka Korean pop has grown so much throughout the past 10 years or so. Honestly yes music really does unite everyone because this type of music has touched so many people’s hearts including mine. As an Asian American I finally see people who look like me fully represented in media and that makes me very happy. Now with recent events like ‘exp,’ and Jaden Smith on Twitter saying he’s coming out with a kpop song soon, I’m a little perplexed in some ways. It’s not that I don’t understand that kpop is a very profitable market but… didn’t kpop start for Asians? I’m not trying to be offensive to any one racial group in particular because no one’s racial struggle is worse than others, it just seems to me as if Asians are just starting to get some spotlight and not be seen in a weird, random “wow asians are weird and foriegn,” way and are finally getting approval and recognition only to get it taken away. Again, I’m not trying to be offensive, kpop is such and important part of my life and to many other Asian Americans, Asian Canadians, Eurasians, and Asian Australians (+ any other Asians not fully represented in their countries), and we do deserve some spotlight as much as anyone else.
Montparnasse doesn’t deal with stress well. He’s really good at hiding it for a long time, just kinda stuffs all his discomfort and frustration and feelings of being overwhelmed down for as long as he can, but eventually that dam has to burst. He used to lock himself in his room and threaten anyone who bothered him except Babet because Babet always showed up bearing food and wouldn’t try to make him talk.
And then he started dating Jehan, and they’re not one to just let him hide from everything under a blanket. And they don’t back down from his half-hearted attempts to bully them out of his life at those times either. Now, he holes up in Jehan’s room with all the lights off and leaves his phone out of the room while they comb his hair and gently coaxes him into talking.
They’re working on helping him actually talk about his emotions before it gets to this point, but for now, this is okay. Jehan makes his world a little calmer. He can live with that.
