i was born to save the doctor

I MADE UP A BACKSTORY FOR JACK AND HIS EGOS! (Think of this as a little story of how they all came to be.)

@therealjacksepticeye  @chase-brody-protection-squad

(Since Robbie (zombie Jack) is apparently an ego now, I made a little paragraph for him too. I’ve seen somewhere that his name is Robbie, so that’s the name I’m going with.)

This idea literally came into my head a few minutes ago. (I’m so fucking proud of this post omg! XD)

So basically, there were a bunch of scientists who wanted to see if they could extract a human conscience and split it into its individual parts. They had tried experiments multiple times but failed. Then, they found a way that they were sure would finally work, but they needed a test subject.

Jack’s file: https://spiffanywolfe.tumblr.com/post/164297812393/therealjacksepticeye-yes-i-used-a-maximum-ride

Enter Jack. Jack was kidnapped by the scientists and experimented on. His conscience was extracted and split into individual parts, his body was cloned and the main bulk of his conscience was implanted back into him. Jack survived the experience and the experiment was a success. And so, the egos were born.

They and Jack were kept in the lab and experimented on until they escaped. They now all live in one apartment, with Jack trying to continue his life, making it seemed like nothing happened and the egos hiding from the world so they wouldn’t be recaptured. Anti however, is the odd ball. Where the others just want to live their lives as normally as they can, Anti wants revenge. He wants the world to know what they have been through and he wants the scientists to burn for what they did. This is why he craves attention so much: he wants the world to know what happened to him and the other egos in hopes that the scientists will be found out.

Here’s a run down on each ego and the part of Jack’s conscience they represent:

- Chase Brody was born from Jack’s feelings of being a father-figure to his community. He also has a bit of Jack’s childish nature in him, as who else would spend hours throwing tea bags into cups or firing nerf guns?! He is very skilled with real firearms though, the exact opposite to Jack who is usually quite passive and clumsy. He was caught by the scientists multiple times talking about a woman called ‘Stacy’ and claiming to have kids, though there s no evidence to prove that either actually exist, as Chase is nothing more that a clone and had never had contact with humans other than the scientists (none of which were called Stacy) and other egos at that point. The scientists believed Chase’s belief of having a family was caused by an error that occurred during his creation process, though no one knows for sure.

- Dr. Schneeplestein was born from Jack’s desire to help and save people. He is also very caring and is very good with a scalpel. He fulfills his role as a doctor well, fixing anything from simple cuts and bruises to slit throats and gunshot wounds to the head (*cough*Chase*cough*). The scientists were confused as to how Schneeple is such a talented doctor, seeing as he has no formal training whatsoever, and his German accent, as there wasn’t anything in Jack’s conscience that hinted at him wanting to be German. Along with that, one day the scientists discovered Schneeple had written ‘100% real doctor’ on a piece of paper and was showing it to others, claiming it was a doctorate. They listed this behavior as ‘strange’ but found no reason as to why he was acting this way.

- Jackaboy Man was born from Jack’s deep desire to be a superhero (mainly Spider-Man) even though he doesn’t have any of Spider-Man’s powers. He can fly though, which the scientists believed came from Jack’s wish to not be afraid of heights. He, like Schneeple, loves to help people, even though he may not be as good at it as the good doctor. Jackaboy Man, like the other egos, created his name himself, though he prefers to use it as an alias rather than a real name, similar to normal superheroes. The scientists discovered he constantly feared people discovering his ‘true identity’, and despite constant questioning, Jackaboy Man would not explain further, preferring to change the subject. As a result, Jackaboy Man’s real chosen name is not known by anyone, not even the other egos.

- Marvin the Magician was born from Jack’s desire to entertain people and make them happy. He’s a people person, much like Jack, though unlike Jack he has actual magical powers which add extra flair to his performances. These powers are most likely a literal representation of Jack’s entertainer side. Through tests, the scientists discovered that Marvin believed his powers came from a white cat mask rather than the experiment. Before any trick he would (and still does) rub the ears and nose, chanting “meow, meow, meow”. Like Schneeple, Marvin’s behavior was listed as ‘strange’ and no real reason was found for these actions.

- Antisepticeye was born from Jack’s inner demons. He is the literal representation of Jack’s fears and anxieties about not being good enough for people, his community abandoning him, and even small things like if his camera is recording. He is the most dangerous for these reasons, so much so that the scientists had a hard time keeping him contained in the lab, eventually resorting to locking him inside a computer program. He is the only ego without a physical body because he was technically an accident; the scientists didn’t intend to create him, he just appeared when all the experiments were done and caused havoc. The scientists weren’t sure why he took the form of a glitch, though they chalked it up to Jack spending so much time around computers and his deep love of glitchy stuff. Anti has the ability to glitch through walls and floors and can possess other living things, even the other egos; though he seems to stick around Jack more than anyone else, much to Jack’s dismay.

-Robbie the Zombie isn’t actually a part of Jack’s conscience. Mostly because he didn’t get the chance to have any of Jack’s conscience implanted into him. Almost immediately after he was created, he was possessed by Anti and went on a rampage, killing multiple scientists and almost killing the other clones and Jack himself. He was only stopped after other scientists managed to hold him down and pull Anti out. It was this incident that lead to Anti being trapped in the computer program. The strain of the possession lead to Robbie looking how he does (grey skin, pale white eyes) and also appeared to kill him, so his body was thrown into a dump behind the lab. However, during the other clone’s escape, Robbie mysteriously came back to life, only saying he was “woken by the sound of people screaming.” Robbie has no special powers per se, though being undead means that no bullets, knives or other weapons can hurt him, though beheading him will definitely do the trick. He also likes to refer to himself in third person, though no one knows why.

(So, yeah. That’s my backstory for the egos. Shit, this was so long, I’m so sorry! If you read all this though, thank you so much! It was just a random idea I had.

Do you know some good fma fics that aren't so shipy? Thanks!

Demon Alchemist- really good; it’s a take on how things would have turned out if Al hadn’t survived the human transmutation. It’s thematically dark, but not in an over the top gory way, and plot and writing wise it’s one of the best Fullmetal Alchemist works I’ve ever read.

We Haunt Ourselves- a one-shot that’s similar to the shared body AU I posted a while ago- the writer does a really good job of capturing the right atmosphere.

Trisha’s Boys- a one-shot in which the Elric brothers are half Ishbalan.

Nyctophobia- one-shot post Brotherhood that focuses on an amnesic Pride.

Under Ishvalla- series on the Ishvalan AU involving Mustang discovering Ed and Al’s heritage and Scar attempting to be a teacher. Nina lives.

Desert Gold- another Ishvalan AU. The Elrics embrace their mother’s culture.

(…they all turned out to be by phantomrose96. Guess she’s the only person’s work I save on this sight…)

Fire Hazard- Ed talks Roy out of doing something he’ll regret.

Giving Tree- Edward will do anything for Alphonse. Plus, chapter two and an interval.

End Game- Maes Hughes is dead, but Roy still sees him.

Experimental- Greed meets Nina.

Like You’ve Been to War- Roy’s memory slips for a moment.

Untitled- Roy, Maes, and irony.

Ambidextrous- Ed was right handed, heavy on the was. Mustang’s team help.

Attitude Adjustment- Alphonse shows that he does, in fact, have a temper.

Rapacious Avarice- incomplete story on a time traveling Greedling from the Devil’s Nest perspective.

Gold From Lead- Edward is mistaken for Roy’s son.

A Dish of Herbs- Doctor Marcoh has issues when it comes to saving himself.

Born of Ashes- series of drabbles on the Homunculi.

Companion Moodboard Clara Oswald.

Come Home, Harry, Come Home (Part 3)

“You’re agreeing to the divorce?” Gemma asks, as she visited you after hearing the news.

“Yes, he doesn’t remember anything. And I agree with him, it’s not fair to him, if he really doesn’t remember, that he would live a life with a woman he doesn’t know, and a baby that he would think is his.”  You explain playing around with your wedding ring.

“I should really take this off.” You say, taking off your ring, “Can you give it back to him? I don’t think I can see him.” You say, handing it to her, not looking at her.

“I can’t take that ring. I don’t believe that you should agree to the divorce. He loves you, he’s just out of it right now. He will remember, you have to fight for this Y/N.” Gemma says.

“But I can’t.” You say defeated. “He said my worst fear. That I am holding him back. I have felt that way the entire time we have been together. I’m not famous, I am the girl from back home, and he gave up what could have been his party days, where he could have been dating any girls, and touring everywhere, to marry me, and start a family at 23.”

Gemma breathes out, and seems to think of what to say next.

“You’ve known my brother for a few years now, but I have known him for his entire life. The fame life does not faze him. The partying, the hooking up, that’s not satisfying to him. He always wanted to be married and have a family. When he met you, I had never seen him so happy, it was like when he would get off stage from performing in front of an awesome crowd. He told everyone about you, he wanted all of us to like you. And whenever we would joke about marriage, he was always serious about saying you would be the one he was going to marry. Y/N, I am begging you, you can’t just give up. Because one day he is going to wake up and remember everything, and you won’t be there. And he will feel like he ruined everything. It will kill him.’” Gemma says, almost begging.

You feel tears in your eyes, but you shake your head, “I’m sorry Gemma, I can’t. I have to go, I need to get prepared for our meeting tomorrow.” You say getting up, not looking at Gemma, because if you do, you will cry.

“I’m sorry.” You say softly again, before walking out.

After you drive home, you are lying in bed rubbing your nine month size stomach.

“Hi baby girl.” You say rubbing your stomach. “I’m sorry that I have been crying a lot, and that I have been stressed, I’m sorry, but mommy is going through a lot, but I promise you, after tomorrow we are going to have a new life tomorrow. And we are going to be okay, just you and me.”  You say feeling tears fall down your face.

“We’re going to be okay, love. We’re going to be okay.” You say rubbing your stomach. “I can’t wait to see you, and hug you and kiss you. I will see you soon. Good night love.”

After about two hours of sleep, you wake up to a very uncomfortable feeling.

“What’s going on baby?” You ask, rubbing your stomach, and then you get the feeling again. And then, you feel liquid go down your thighs.

“Oh, you’re coming. Oh my God you’re coming.” You say pushing yourself up, off the bed.

You grab your phone from off your nightstand, and dial the Gemma’s number.

“Answer Gemma, answer.” You beg, breathing out at another contraction.

After a few more rings, she answers.

“Y/N?” you hear Gemma say very tiredly.

“Gemma” you breathe out.

“Y/N? Oh my God are you okay?” She asks worried, hearing your heavy breathing.

“The baby.” You breathe out. “She’s coming.”

“I will be right over.  You hang in tight alright. Just breathe, and count the time between the contractions.” She says.

“I will, just come quick.” You say trying to control your breathing.

Within fifteen minutes, Gemma is there, helping you, get up, and grabbing the hospital bag.

After she gets you in the car, she tells you, “I called Harry, he is coming. I’m sorry if you didn’t want me to, but he is the father, and even if you said that you didn’t want him there, I know you would want him there.”

“No, it’s okay. That’s-“ You breathe out, “it’s good. He should be there, it’s the birth of his daughter.”

“Alright sister, we’re here. You ready?” She says, unbuckling her seat belt, and reaching over to unbuckle you.

“Yes, let’s do this.”

When you both get into hospital, you see Harry sitting in one of the waiting rooms, and when he sees you, he immediately gets up, and wraps one of your arms around him, helping you walk.

“I got you a room.” He says.

“Thank you.” You say, not looking at him, knowing it is too hard.

As you get into the room, Harry helps you lay down, and immediately nurses, and a doctor comes in.

“Hello Mr. and Mrs. Styles” the doctor says, “I am Doctor Carlino, and I will be delivering your daughter today.” She says smiling.

“How far in between each contraction?” She asks one of the nurses.

“6 minutes”, says the nurse, and she starts preparing you for your epidermal shot.

“Put your legs up” the doctor says, which you do.

“You are close to full dilation. Just a few more inches, you’ll be ready, just hang in there sweetheart.” She says, holding your hand. “First time parents?” She asks, looking between you and Harry.

“Yes.” You say, before Harry could answer.

“You two are a beautiful couple, your daughter is going to be very lucky.”

“Thank you” Harry says politely.

After about two hours, Doctor Carlino comes, in and checks you again, “you are at full dilation.”

“Now, I am going to need you to start pushing.”

As soon and your start pushing, you begin to feel weak.

“Doct-“ you try to say, “doct” you try again.

“Y/N? Y/N?” Doctor Carlino asks, looking up.

“Grab the oxygen tank.” She orders to the nurses.

“What is happening?” Harry asks concerned.

“Your wife is preeclampsia.” She says.

“What, what does that mean?” He asks.

“It means that we need to deliver this baby now.”

“What if we-“

“Mr. Styles, it is my job as a doctor to do the best that I can do. I need you to let us do our job. I am going to make sure you go home with both your baby and your wife. We need to deliver your daughter, to prevent injuries to your wife. But Mr. Styles, I need to know right now, if it comes down to it, who do you choose, you wife or your daughter?”

It is in that moment, where Harry looks at you, and everything comes back. He remembers seeing you when he came back home to visit the bakery and seeing that you took his job. He remembers your first date where you made the first move and kissed him that night. He remembers your first Christmas together, buying the apartment together, him proposing to you, and all of your friends and family running in afterwards to congratulate you both. He remembers you walking down the aisle at your wedding, and feeling the wind knocked out of him of how gorgeous you looked. He recalls the day he came home, to having you run up and jump on him to tell him you’re pregnant. He remembers waking up that morning before the car accident, and rubbing your stomach and speaking to your daughter. Then it comes back to him what you said to him when he was asleep.

“The baby.” You answer before he can. “You save the baby.” You say looking at him.

“You do everything in your power to make sure our baby girl gets out safe, don’t worry about me, and just make sure our daughter is born.” You say to the doctor.

“Love” Harry tries to say.

“Harry, I am a fighter. Don’t worry about me. I can do this.” You say looking at him, then grabbing your stomach in pain.

“Mr. Styles, you need to leave.” One of the nurses says.

“But-“ He says looking up, trying to see you, but suddenly he can’t, as he just sees the back of nurses and doctors.

“Mr. Styles, you need to trust us, that we will do our job.” The nurse says.

“Please, just please have me bring home my daughter and my wife.” Harry says feeling tears fill his eyes, “please.”

And then Gemma comes, up and grabs Harry, and hugs him while he cries.

They both don’t say anything, but Gemma just holds him, rubbing his back.

“Gemma” He says looking down at his sister. “I, I messed it up.” He says. “I wanted to divorce the love of my life, the mother of my child.  And I can’t even apologize to her, or tell her I love right now. Or I might not ever, I- I” Harry says breathing heavily, with tears streaming down his face.

“Harry, right now, you need breathe. You know Y/N, she is a fighter. And she will make it through this. You need to believe in her.”

After an agonizing hour and a half, the doctor finally comes out.

Harry immediately stands up, and rushes to her. “How is she? My daughter, my wife? How are they?”

“Your daughter is like your wife, a fighter.”

“They are okay?” He asks.

“Yes, you can go in and seem them. Congratulations.” She says, grabbing his shoulder.

Harry does not hesitate, and walk into the room. When he walks in, he feels all the air leave his lungs. He sees you, with no makeup, and your hair sticking to the side of your face due to the sweat, and in that moment, you look as gorgeous when you walked down the aisle. And then he looks at your daughter in your arms, and he feels tears stream down his face.

“And look love, Daddy’s here. Daddy’s here to see you.” You say to your daughter looking at him.

Harry walks over, and looks at your daughter.

“Can, can I hold her?” He asks you.

“Yes.” You say, carefully placing your daughter in Harry’s arms.

“Hi baby.” He says looking down at her. “It’s your daddy. You are so beautiful, you definitely got your beauty from your mom.” He says looking over at you.

“I wasn’t here for a little while, and I’m sorry. But your mommy did a very good job taking care of you and keeping you safe. She’s great isn’t she? We’re both very lucky. But, I am here now, and I am not going to be leaving you or mommy if I can help it. Okay?”

Then a nurse comes over, to grab your daughter to clean her off, and put her down to sleep.

Harry walks over to you and grabs your hand, “You kept the ring. You still wear it.”

“Yes, I tried to give it to Gemma, but she wouldn’t take it. She kept telling me to fight for us.”

“Were you going to fight for us?” He asks, playing with the ring on your finger.

“I wasn’t going to fight the divorce.” You say. “If you wanted it, I would agree with it. I just want you to be happy.”

“I don’t want the divorce.” He says.

“What?” You ask confused, looking up at him.

“I remember everything. I can’t have you leave me. I need you, I need the both of you. Please.” Harry begs.

“I am not going anywhere. Neither of us. We are staying right here.” You say grabbing his hand. “I promise.” You say grabbing his hand and kissing it.

Chris Evans Imagine

Every single day till this moment right now had been the best for you and Chris and your first child that was slowly growing bigger by the day. Now Chris felt like his world was falling apart, like was going to lose everything in his life. And there was nothing he could do. Not a word he could say that would make it better.

The day you went into labor was just like every other. Happy, full of laughter, even then your water broke it still wasn’t bad. Chris didn’t even freak out. He thought when the moment came he would lose his cool and be a mess, but no. He was on point. He had planed the faster rode to the hospital, he had already got a privet room so you could have the comfort and peace you wanted, he already had saved a massage on his phone he was going to send to his and your parents. Chris thought he had planed everything till the last moment, but he hadn’t planed what happened in reality. He hadn’t planed you being in this much pain, you both knew you would be in pain, but not this much. Chris already felt something wasn’t right, he felt in the anguish filled yell you let out. His heart started to beat faster, and not in the excited way of knowing you’ll be holding your baby in your hands.

Then he saw something he never ever wanted to see and fell the feeling of unbelievable fear of losing two people at the same time. Chris was by your side, he held your hand, kissed your head and whispered to you:

“Everything will be fine. Just hold in there. I love you” he would say it over and over again, every time a contraction came and made you yell, but the last yell you let out the one that made him lose control over the station, the one he knew he’ll never forget. As another contraction hit you leaned forward just as you let out one small yell, a big one followed right after and with your eyes rolled to the back of your skull and you fell back. Chris saw it all happen, to him it was like a slow motion horror scene. He saw as your head fell to the pillow and the line on the heart monitor went almost straight. There were no movements in you, it seemed like you weren’t breathing anymore. Suddenly he was being pushed out of the room by the many nurses and doters that came running in. They all were yelling some doctors terms and the looks on their faces weren’t saying anything good.

“Sir you have to wait outside” the nurse said and before she could go back in to the room Chris just felt like he had lost everything, he grabbed her by the hand

“What’s going on with my wife and baby? Tell me” she apologized to him and went back, there was nothing she could say, no one at that point knew what was going on or was going to happen. Chris stood there looking at the door when his brother and rest of the family ran to him

“Chris, what’s going on?” Scott saw his brothers eyes and felt like his heart had also stopped “Chris?” to Scott you were just as important, he always looked after you while Chris was away working. Chris looked at everyone he didn’t know what to say, he didn’t know what to do. He wanted to fall to the ground and cry but then again he knew he had to be strong for you. When he thought he could finally speak and tell his family what had just happened the door to your room opened and all the nurses and doters were pushing you in your bed. They ran past Chris, he head a small second to see your face, it still looked so pail, so out of life. He stopped one of the doctors who was running by,

“What’s going on? No one is telling me anything” the doctor looked at Chris who was in a full on panic.

“You wife is having excessive bleeding” Chris’ arm dropped to his side, every one around him gasped in shock and fear.

“What does..what” Chris couldn’t finish a single sentence. He was scared to ask the most important question.

“If we don’t do something right now, we might” the doctor stopped him but knew he had to finish and run right after you ”we’ll do everything in your power to save your wife and the baby. But you have to know that there is a chance you might lose one or both of them” Chris stepped back and watched as the doctor talked and walked away, but at that moment Chris couldn’t hear a word, he didn’t hear anything around him, he lost all feelings. To him the room started to spin, his mom came to his side too comfort him, but there was nothing she could say that would make him feel better. Chris started to walk, he walked till he got in the car and started to drive, in the rear view mirror he saw Scott running after him. Chris drove without really knowing where he was going, until he found himself in his garage. He had no reason to be there, he should be by his wife’s side, but there was nothing he could do that would make it all better. He started to pace around just as anger filled him, he picked up the closest thing he had and throw it at the wall, shattering it into little pieces. His heart felt the same way the broken pieces looked, broken and just helpless. Looking at the blank wall his tears ran down his cheeks,

“Chris” he didn’t need to turn around to see who it was, but turned around to meet eyes with his brother. He looked as worried and broken as Chris.

“I’m about to lose the love of my life and my first child and I’m here breaking stuff, but I don’t know what to do.” Chris placed his hands on the table and looked at the ground “I can’t be there, I just can’t hear those words that will make my world dark for the rest of my life.” Scott moved closer to Chris but then jumped back as his brother yelled out. He was in so much pain ” This wasn’t planned. We were supposed to have kids and be together till we both grow old. I’m not ready to say goodbye, I won’t do it.” Chris looked back up with red eyes and wet cheeks.

“Chris”  Scott tried to talk, but he didn’t know what to say. He didn’t know how Chris felt and he wished he didn’t have to feel that way.

“If I don’t say goodbye she won’t be gone” Scott couldn’t take it anymore himself

“Stop, just stop. I don’t know how you feel but I also am broke about this and non of us are ready to say goodbye to her, but you know what we won’t have to. That won’t happen. I’m not going to even accept that and you shouldn’t too” Scott was sorry for his bother but also angry. Angry to see and hear him give up. “Now get yourself together and drive back to the damn hospital. Both your son and wife will be fine. Just” both brother looked at each other with tears in their eyes. “please” Chris took a deep breath and walked to his brother hugging him.

“I’m terrified” Chris whispered letting out more tears.

Scott drove Chris back to the hospital, because he wasn’t able to drive anymore. In that small drive Chris thought back to the day you two met, the day of your first date, the time he asked he asked you to marry him and the day you told him he’ll be a dad. All those happy memories, he wasn’t ready to stop there. He then did something he hadn’t done in many years he prayed to God. He pray to be able to hold you and his son in his hands. He prayed to once again see the same smile he fell in love so many years ago. When the hospital door opened and he walked down the halls, now it looked more dark there then before. They all sat in the waiting room for what felt like hours, in that time your family came and he had to explain what was going on, but he broke down in the middle and his mom had to finish, so now everyone sat in such painful silence. It was the first time in all the years that no one of your and his family spoke, it was the first time there had been a complete silence between all of them.

“Mr.Evans” a voice interrupted the silence, Chris looked up to find the same doctor he spoke with before.

“How is she? How’s my son?” Chris tried to see in the the doctors eyes some answer but couldn’t find anything, making Chris fear the worst. The doctor looked at everyone in the family, he looked in everyone sad eyes,

“We saved them.” three words that made everyone yell out in joy, three words that shined a light in a mans words that started to turn black. “Your wife needs a lot of rest, but she’ll be fine, the baby was born health.” he placed an arm on Chris’ shoulder “They both will be fine. Your wife is very strong just as you son” Chris felt tears of joy in his eyes. Everything will be fine.

“Can I see her?” he whispered. The doctor allowed people to see you, but just on at a time. Chris went first. He walked in to the sound of a beeping monitor, that let him know you really were alive. When he walked around the corner, he saw you sleeping in your bed, your cheeks had a slight pinkish color, he walked to your side and kissed your head. “I love you Y/N” he whispered as you were sleeping. Moments after he sat in a chair next to your bed and held your hand, a hand he was never going to let go, ever. A nurse walked in, carrying a sleeping baby, his baby. She placed him in Chris’ hands. He looked down at his new born son, with one finger he stroked his cheek making him move a bit in his hands, but not wake up. “hey there. I love you.” he said for the first time to his son. “I will always love.”

“Hey there” your voice, so low and weak filled his ears. He looked up and immediately smiled. “Can I see him?” Chris slowly stood up and turned to you, showing you your son. Then you moved to give Chris some space on the bed but stopped when pain went through you.

“Easy, please be careful” Chris said seeing your pain filled face. You looked up at him and slightly smiled, telling him you’ll be fine. There were so many things Chris wanted to say. He wanted to tell you how scared he was to lose you, how broken he was. How he thought he had lost you for ever, but decided not to. He knew you were terrified yourself and you already knew he felt horrible, you could see it in his eyes. So instead you both held your new son who you named Aaron, that meant “miraculous” and just enjoyed being with each other. This was a beginning or a new life. A life where you are thankful of every day you have.

know what’s funny to me? the Mad Max series was born from strange cases in the ER. George Miller was a doctor tending to all these people near death and just thought, “i wonder how patients like these could survive in a post-apocalyptic setting with only the bare minimal a for tools?”

so he just wrote a script with his friend, applied his medical knowledge whenever violence happened, and produced the first movie with his funds saved as an emergency doctor.

Mad Max is a medical adventure as much as it is car battles and post-apocalypse stories. GRANTED THERE’S SOME ARTISTIC LICENSE BEING HAD but you can tell a doctor’s writing the story. like in Fury Road, how Max performs MONKEY SURGERY on Furiosa, when he transfused blood he makes sure the blood goes all the way through the tube before sticking it in her arm so their wouldn’t be any air left inside and accidentally give Fury a heart attack.

IDK i love little details like that. It seems that everyone who worked in Fury Road was a Swiss-Army person

Charlie and Mary Winchester entered the world on Election Day, eight weeks early.  Despite being born premature, they weighed in at a respectable 5 lbs 5 oz, and 5 lbs 3 oz.

I had passed out in front of the motel where my father was holding me from a combination of extreme shock and pain. It turns out I had been having back labor all day and I didn’t know it.  Mary was breech and showing signs of distress and my blood pressure was through the roof so they knocked me out and did an emergency c-section.

When I woke hours later groggy from the anesthesia the first face I saw was Sam’s.

“Hurts,” I whispered, my throat sore from the breathing tube.

“I know Sweetheart. They had to do a C-section.”

“Babies?” I croaked.

Sam grinned at me. “They are fighters just like their mom. They’ll be in the NICU for awhile, but they are doing great.”

I was struggling to stay awake, but the effects of the anesthesia pulled me under and my eyes slipped closed before I could ask about my mother.

AOS Bones dealing with his father's death? In TOS, his dad died of xenopolycythemia.

  • Jim has his ritual on his own father’s passing. Before meeting Bones, this was mostly drinking himself into a stupor. But Bones treats it respectfully. One drink for himself, one for Jim’s birthday, and one for George Kirk. It’s been like that since their first year in the Academy, and Jim is secretly grateful for it. Bones is sweet and gentle, when he’s not yelling and chasing Jim down the corridors of the Enterprise with hypo spray.
  • And Jim knows Bones’ father has been dead for a while, but Bones doesn’t really talk about it, other than saying his pop was the reason he became a doctor. Bones talks about his mother a great deal, and Jim’s seen her a couple times over video chat - promised to take care of her boy and bring him home safe after their missions. He knows a lot about her, but nothing about Bones’ dad. Doesn’t even know the day of his death, it’s not something Bones shares with him.
  • Then Bones gets sick of Xenopolycythemia, and recovery is a long and torturous, almost miraculous process. There was no cure, but thanks to Bones, there is one now. Jim is with him when he’s in med bay to recover, and when Bones is sent to his quarters to rest it all out, Jim thinks that’s reason to celebrate. After all, how often does one get to cure an incurable disease? That’s impressive. Bones is impressive.
  • But he finds Bones alone, and not in a celebratory mood. The way he’s curled up on his own sofa, Jim thinks he’s in pain, and immediately panics. “Bones, are you okay? Can I do… can I do anything for you?” Bones doesn’t respond, not immediately. He’s quiet, but the way he shakes his head is at least some indication that he’s not in pain. “I couldn’t save my father,” Bones says. “What?” Jim asks, walking over and sitting down next to him. “My dad,” Bones says, “died of Xenopolycythemia. I became a doctor to be able to cure this very disease. Maybe if I studied harder, I could have-” “Stop,” Jim raises his hand, “you’re the first doctor in this quadrant of the galaxy who’s been able to cure this disease, Bones. You’re going to change lives because of this.”
  • Bones’ mother calls Jim over video chat a day or so later, and that’s terrifying. Jim is charming when he needs to be, but this is… different, and Jim tries not to look awkward about it. “I heard you had a hand in helping Len cure his own Xenopolycythemia,” she says. “Who told you?” Jim asks, and Nancy raises an eyebrow. “Well,” she says, “Leonard did tell me you were a bit thick for a genius. Hit on the head a lot, he says. I called to say thank you.” “Oh,” Jim says, “that’s really not necessary. I didn’t do much. Didn’t find that cure. That’s all Bones– er, Leonard. I just kept him from giving up.” “You saved his life,” Nancy says, and Jim isn’t sure why that makes him feel so incredibly awkward. “He saves mine all the time,” he replies. “If it’s not too much to ask,” she says, “I’d like you to make sure he knows no pie’s ever made without breaking a few eggs.”
  • Bones is writing. Actually writing something on paper, like it’s the old days. “What are you doing?” Jim asks. “I’m writing.” “I can see that. With a pen? Looks exhausting,” Jim replies, sitting down next to him, though he respects privacy enough not to read what Bones is writing. “Are you okay?” “I’m fine.” “It’s okay if you’re not,” Jim says, and Bones sighs. “My dad died 20 years ago. It doesn’t make sense that this affects me.” “I never knew my dad and it affects me,” Jim replies to that, resting his hand on Bones’ arm. “Tell me about your dad.” “He died.” “Tell me about what he was like when he was alive,” Jim presses on, though carefully so.
  • David McCoy was a stern, grumpy old man (“that sounds familiar,” Jim says). A general practitioner in a small Atlanta hospital, and devoted husband. Worked long hours to support his family, and Leonard resented him not being present at his high school games for being at work, but then Leonard ended up doing the same to Joanna, so maybe they were much more alike than he first thought - or wanted to be. David McCoy hated space (“that also sounds familiar.” “Shut up, Jim.”), though he loved his Vulcan neighbors. Quiet, educated folk he could have deep and meaningful debates with about politics, new medicine, and world histories. Leonard thought all of those conversations were always incredibly boring. But David got sick, and the sickness got to him fast. Much faster than nowadays, when medicine slows down the dying process significantly. And, with Bones’ discovery, cure it completely. “It just doesn’t feel like a victory,” Bones says, “I expected it to feel more like one, but it doesn’t. It didn’t change anything.” “You can’t change the past,” Jim says, “but you’ll change the future.”
  • And he does. Because the cure is far from perfect; it’s being tested on vigorously. Two more patients don’t survive the cure over the next few weeks, but at least ten of them do. Jim follows them carefully. Bones says he doesn’t, but Jim knows he does. He can see Bones upset when he hears one of the patients have died, even if they’re planets away and they’ve never met. He sees him a bit more excited knowing it saved the life of an elderly lady who wanted to see her grandchildren being born. “I knew you were a good doctor,” Jim says when he catches Bones in his office, “I never thought you’d become a famous one, too. Don’t let it go to your head.” “I know what a big ego does to a personality,” Bones counters, “and I won’t. I don’t need the fame. I don’t want the cure named after me.” “Who, then?” “My pops,”  Bones says, and Jim smiles fondly. “Mr. Sensitive,” he calls him out, though gently so, and Bones huffs. “Shut it,” Bones says. He straightens up, clearing his throat, and adds; “thank you.” “For what?” Jim asks. “Being there,” Bones says, “I know it’s stupid, it should’ve felt like a victory right away, but it does now. Thanks to you.” “Well,” Jim says, fingers running over Bones’ cheek fondly. An intimate gesture he’s not familiar with - not with Bones, but neither  of them are stopping it, “can’t make a pie without breaking a few eggs.” Bones laughs at that. “You sound like my mom,” he says, and Jim grins. “Can’t have that,” he replies, going in for a long overdue kiss.

rtd or moffat companions & why?

RTD, no question!
And why? Well, I just don’t think Moffat is that great at writing female characters, and since the main full-time companion usually is a woman, that’s…a bit not good. Don’t get me wrong, I do like Amy and Clara, but that’s mostly due to how they were portrayed by their respective actors. Especially Jenna Coleman’s performance kept me from giving up on Clara because I really didn’t like her character a whole lot in S7.
When you look at them, they’re pretty much the same character…the one kind of woman Moffat can write because he’s Moffat and apparently (and obviously, judging by the problematic things he has said over the years) has a very weird concept of women. They’re both feisty and sassy and on a surface level he wants them to appear super independent and kickass, but their lives revolve around the Doctor. Amy met him when she was just a young girl and had been obsessing over him ever since, up to the point where it actually affected her life quality (all those therapists she had to see), and Clara was literally ‘born to save the Doctor’. Yes, they both made some choices that didn’t include the Doctor at some points further down the line, but still, it’s really irritating to me. Same with River…’I live for the days I see him’. Like, no. Stop writing women whose sole purpose in life is some guy, what kind of message is that? But for Moffat, that’s literally all there is to them…being a companion to and being with the Doctor, a man. They don’t really get their own story, no family, no past that isn’t intertwined with him, which also results in them being kinda two-dimensional.

Now, RTD’s companions were fleshed out and also relatable. Rose had a job in a shop (before the Doctor blew it up), a working-class background, lived on a council estate, was close to her mum because Jackie raised her by herself after Pete died, she had Mickey who she was sort-of dating at the beginning and who was pretty much part of her family after his grandma died. She was also really unhappy with her life because she had no idea what she was doing with it and it seemed to just be the same day after day - I can relate. And then the Doctor showed her that the whole universe was out there, so much for her to see, so much she was able to do and achieve.
Martha was ambigious and training to be a doctor, she had parents that had currently split up which caused tensions within the family, a sister she was close to and who was just as ambigious as herself, and a brother she seemed to love a whole lot. She also didn’t really know her worth and fell in love with a guy who couldn’t love her back because he was still hung up on someone else and because…he just didn’t - I can relate. And then her time with that guy made her realise just how amazing she was - she saved the whole damn world pretty much all by herself! - and that she deserved respect, so she made the decision to get out and away from someone who couldn’t treat her better and the way she deserved to be treated.
Donna was a temp and unemployed a lot, she had just lost her dad, she had a mum who emotionally abused her on a regular basis and made her feel small because Sylvia was also hurting after losing her husband, and a gramps who lived with them and helped them out and who treated Donna the complete opposite and loved her somewhat fiercely and wanted her to be happy. She also felt like she was worthless and nothing special because she hadn’t really achieved anything ‘important’ in other people’s eyes - I can relate. And then the Doctor showed her the universe and she did all those amazing things, she nudged HIM towards doing the right thing more than once and kept him grounded, and he treated her like an equal and like she was simply fantastic because she WAS. Even though all of that was taken away from her again (against her will, which is the one thing I will never forgive RTD), she got to see just how special she was.
Those three are, really, ‘ordinary’ women with all kinds of different lives and backgrounds and problems (and we got to see all of it!), but they’re so special and can do brave and great things nonetheless. No matter who you are, what you are, where you come from, you’re important and have so much worth…that was such a beautiful message to me back when I started watching Doctor Who when I was wee 14 year old, and it still is all these years later.

Amy and Clara, on the other hand, don’t really have any of that. Also, Amy was only interesting to the Doctor because there was a crack in her wall which was a rip in time/space and because she was ‘the girl who waited’, and Clara was ‘a mystery wrapped in an enigma squeezed in a skirt’ (ugh) to him because he kept meeting her since her whole life was apparently destined to be spent with the Doctor and she threw herself into his timeline, splitting herself into pieces and killing herself. Not really everyday relatable people…but maybe that’s just me lmao. The way Moffat writes and imagines his Doctor also comes into play here, obviously, I’m not really a big fan of that either because apparently it’s not enough anymore to just be a ‘normal’ person to be worth his time, but that’s maybe a topic for another day and doesn’t belong here.

I’m gonna stop babbling now, I didn’t even plan for this to get so long, sorry - I started out with one thing and then threw in all kinds of different thoughts, lol. But yeah, RTD, definitely.

(P.S. I don’t really know anything about Bill yet, I didn’t wanna expose myself to spoilers in regards to her, maybe he wrote her differently than all his other female characters. All I know is she’s gay, which is a whole different sea of possible fuck ups for Moffat considering how he handled most of his lgbtq+ characters in the past. I’m open to be pleasantly surprised though.)

Badass Black Women History Month:
Celebrating 28 Black Women Who Said,
“Fuck it, I’ll Do It!”

Day 23: Lucy Hicks Anderson
Badass Lady Law Breaker

Lucy Hicks Anderson was born in Waddy, KY, but her year of birth is unknown. What is known, is that from 1920 until 1945 she was constantly harassed and prosecuted for living as a woman. While the term “transgender” did not exist at the time, She insisted publicly that a person could appear to be of one sex, but actually belong to the other.

According to Lucy’s own testimony, when she started school, she insisted on wearing dresses and started calling herself Lucy at a young age. Her mother took her to a doctor, and, amazingly, the doctor advised her mom to raise her as a girl. Lucy quit school at 15 to start working and eventually moved to Texas when she was in her twenties. In 1920, Lucy married Clarence Hicks and moved to New Mexico and, finally, Oxnard, California.

Lucy would continue to work as a maid, but eventually saved enough money to buy property at the center of town. She operated a brothel, divorced her husband and remarried a soldier in 1944. Around this time, it was discovered that Lucy was born male. The Ventura County district attorney decided to try her for perjury, believing she had lied on her marriage license by saying she was a woman.

Lucy challenged the authority of doctors who insisted she was male. Reporters state that Lucy said, “I defy any doctor in the world to prove that I am not a woman. I have lived, dressed, acted just what I am, a woman.”

She was still conviced and sentenced to probation for ten years. The harassment would not end there, however. Because Lucy was married to a soldier, she received allotment checks from the Army. The Federal government then decided to prosecute both Lucy and her husband, Reuben, for fraud. They were found guilty and sentenced to prison. After Lucy’s release, she tried to go back to Oxnard, but was told by the local police chief that she had to leave town or risk further prosecution. Lucy decided to live the remainder of her life in Los Angeles and continued to live her life the way she wanted.

things from the dw trailers that didn’t turn out how i expected:

‘this is the gateway to everything that ever was, or ever can be’
expectation: cool dramatic TARDIS scene
reality: 12 trying to explain that the TARDIS isn’t a knock-through

'something’s coming bill, and i have a feeling that we’re going to be very busy’
expectation: dramatic cliffhanger building up to later episodes

'this is the moment you’ve been waiting for since the day you were born!’
expectation: bill, or one of the side characters, was destined to do something amazing and save the world!!
reality: just fucking. die. it’s fine it’s gonna destroy capitalism.

Even though 1% of abortions are performed to save the life of the mother, what do you say about this case, as rare as it is? Is it still the right thing to not abort, even if the child will die anyway when the mother does, if it is not yet developed enough to be born before the mother dies?

OK, anon.
Here’s my problem with that issue. In almost any medical situation, simply going in and killing the baby will not solve the problem, and that’s what abortion is; going in and killing the child without any other plan in mind. I can understand when a treatment is needed to save the mother’s life, and the child dies as an unfortunate side effect of that treatment; that’s different from abortion. The doctors weren’t /trying/ to kill the child, they were trying to help the mother, and they couldn’t prevent the child’s death.
But here’s the thing: every child is ‘just going to die anyway.’ Every human is going to die anyway. That doesn’t make abuse of power okay. The whole point of medical care is to try to preserve human life if at all possible. Just because a toddler will die one day doesn’t make it okay to come into their house and stab them in the brain with scissors or burn them with saline or rip them to shreds with a vaccuum. It’s no more okay when they’re a little younger and a little easier to abuse.
Why do we think we should have to pick between helping one or the other? They’re both human beings, both with the inherent dignity therein, both deserving of all the help we can give them, especially in a nation as advanced and prosperous as ours.
This question gets thrown around a lot in pro-choice circles, like they think it’s a real ‘gotcha’ question. Like they’re going to somehow corner you into admitting that you care more about an unborn baby than you do about a mother.
I can only look at examples in my own life. I know a lady who goes to church with me who has four bitty kids and is pregnant with her fifth. The lining of her uterus is super-thin, and at any moment she could rupture it and die, killing both her and her unborn baby. She’s been unable to deliver her kids naturally, and has endured abuse by family, supposed friends, and medical personnel who think she shouldn’t be allowed to reproduce. But she keeps going, because she loves her kids and believes they’re worth it. When my own mom was miscarrying my sixth sibling, she refused intervention for a week in the hopes of giving our baby every chance to live. Both these mothers love their children, and fought to give them a chance, at the risk of their own lives.
No, I don’t believe it’s right to kill a child in the midst of a tragedy.

Viktor, who has never gone to university, fusses endlessly during Mikhail's freshman year. Yuuri futilely tries to explain that it's normal college stress. Mikhail appreciates the support but bans Viktor from the study between the hours of X and X once finals start. "But Yuuri he's had far too much coffee and I heard him printing things at 4am it's not healthy!" "You know he wants to be a doctor right?" "Then he should know this is bad for him!" Yuuri saves the discussion of med school for later

I have the idea that they probably move back to Japan just before Kyo and Koichi are born (Hence the Japanese names, because they’re the first children to be born in Japan) and that Mikhail probably attends university in Fukuoka, so like he’s not always home but he tries to visit on the weekends and every time he’s so stressed and Viktor sees so much of Yuuri in him that it’s kind of insane?

Yuuri knows what he’s going through, objectively, because yes he was also a college student once upon a time. But Yuuri and his Viktor Nikiforov-obsessed ass decided to major in Russian with dual minors in Russian literature and European history, so he can’t quite relate to Mikhail’s more specific pre-med struggles.

However, he does understand that sometimes when someone is laying on the floor surrounded by empty coffee mugs, books and the stench of death, that all you can really do is let them lay there and sometimes pat their back and make a shushing sound. It takes a lot of trial and error to convince Viktor that sometimes you just have to Let It Happen.

I am so glad for Jenna/Clara at the way Clara Oswald’s story turned out.

Let’s be honest it didn’t start well. Eleven acted like a prat. Clara had the flimsiest characterisation and the sketchiest backstory. Their bonding technique was basically the Doc insulting Clara’s physical appearance. They literally met while Eleven was behaving like a creepy stalker and Clara, assertive, ‘control freak’, no-nonsense Clara was written as accepting of this. The narrative framed this weirdness as romantic. Clara turned out to be ‘born to save the Doctor’ instead of, y’know, born to live her life. Nobody had a clue what her job was. Nobody understood why she stuck around when the Doctor, by her own admission, scared her. Everyone wanted her to escape for her own good.

And then with Twelve, with this last series, it all turned around.

Suddenly we had a young woman with a job, and consistent characterisation. The ‘bossiness’ became assertiveness and was appreciated by the Doctor and the narrative. Her leadership qualities were likened to those of the Doctor and admired, instead of being written off as a hilarious little quirk. We had Clara the brave, Clara the compassionate, Clara the stubborn. We saw her raging against the death of a loved one. (She was allowed grief, ugly, furious, terrifying grief!)

We witnessed her tentative, and yet incredibly beautiful friendship blossoming with Twelve, which became one of absolute mutual respect. Suddenly we had an equal partnership again, the ingredient we’d been missing with Eleven. We saw her having fun! Hooray! We could see why a young woman like Clara might like to travel with Twelve.

Most importantly we saw why a man like Twelve would like to travel with a woman like Clara Oswald. And it wasn’t because she was ‘born to save the Doctor’, or ‘the impossible girl’, or because she had extra special timey-wimey qualities that fascinated him, it was because he fell in love with Clara the human. He travelled with Clara for her compassion, her good advice, her honesty, her courage, her naturally responsible and nurturing nature.

With Clara The Mystery gone (and good riddance to that plot line) we were given Clara the person. Which is what the audience want in a companion. We want someone to be our eyes and ears. We want someone relatable. Someone similar to those we know. An ordinary and yet extraordinary person.

We left Clara’s story (it didn’t end, however) with her as unquestionably the equal of the Doctor. With her in control of her own destiny. And the universe is a better place with Clara Oswald still whizzing around it.

Twelve and Clara are right up there with some of the best Doctor and companion duos and it’s not because of any extra special ‘Impossible Girl’ nonsense, it’s because they forged a realistic, tender,  delicate and yet incredibly resistant, relatable relationship of equals which was mutually beneficial and a joy to watch.

Clara’s time with the Doctor was ultimately positive and liberating. It was inspirational.

Just goes to show that to crete a successful and iconic companion, you don’t need bells and whistles. You just need a relatable, flawed, ordinary human being.

To travel

Well, this is quite long. longer than any i’ve posted before.

Mostly written around the cybermites (which are somewhere in season seven if i remember correctly) where reader is taken over by the cybermites and saved by the Doctor. I know part of it was actually inspired from ‘The lodger’ but i got stuck halfway through and this happened.

Word count: 1810 words

You’d always been bored with the ‘normal’ life everyone else seemed to be content with, which confused you and made every all the worse. How could everyone live like this? Day after day, the same old, boring life. Born, grow up, get good grades, get a good job, get married, have kids, retire, die. That’s the system everyone else lived by. But you knew somehow that there must be so much more somewhere. Little did you know it wasn’t on Earth.

You sighed as you opened another box, stacking the shelves as you did every Thursday night. You were bored. Simple as that. Not the kind of bored reading a book or trying to occupy yourself could help. No, you were bored of this existence. At least, that’s what you called it. It all just seemed so tedious. Your only life besides books and TV shows was your job at the shop. It had been closed for a while, leaving you, another worker and the manager somewhere.

That’s when you first heard it. It sounded like something fell off a shelf a couple rows down. You frowned, calling out to your co-worker. No one answered. You left the half-empty box where it was and went to check on the sound. Just as you were leaving your aisle the sound happened again, louder. As if a whole row of something was being knocked off the shelf. You turned the corner to find the source of the sound only to find there was, in fact, half the contents of the shelves on the floor.

“Son of a…” You muttered, looking around to see what might have caused it. There didn’t seem to be anyone around. “Who’s there?” You called louder, your anger translating into bravery. There was a shifting beneath one of the piles on the ground and you paused. “Hello?” You frowned. There was more shifting and then suddenly a stream of what looked like tiny metal bugs crawled out, heading for you. Your eyes widened as they came closer to you and you moved quickly to try and get away, only succeeding in tripping over your own feet. You crawled backwards until you managed to stand but it was too late.

The little metal bugs began climbing up your legs and you screamed, trying to kick them off. They made their way up your body and it was only a moment later everything went black.

You gasped as everything came back at once. You looked around, panicking as you found yourself somewhere very different to where you had been when you blacked out. You were just about hyperventilating when you realised you were tied up. A voice reached your ears and you looked up to find a young man crouching down in front of you, his voice soft and calming. You stopped to hear what he was saying as you took in the floppy fringe and bow tie he wore. You would’ve laughed if you hadn’t been already panicking.

“You’re alright, it’s okay, I’m here to help” He told you softly. “Just breathe, that’s it, it’ll be okay” You forced yourself to breathe normally, deciding you trusted this man for some reason.

“Who are you?” You asked, noticing yourself how terrified you sounded.

“I’m the Doctor” He smiled softly. “I’m here to help”

“What happened to me?” You asked quickly, remembering the metal bugs. He hesitated. There was a sudden sharp pain in your head and you cringed, hissing at the pain. The man, The Doctor, seemed even more worried at that.

“What’s your name?” He asked you, avoiding your question.

“(Y/N)” You told him. He gave a small nod, smiling reassuringly.

“(Y/N), lovely name. I am so sorry about this (Y/N) but I’m going to have to ask you to be very brave right now” He spoke softly though, regret lacing his words.

“What do I have to do?” You asked readily, forcing yourself to be brave as he had said. He smiled genuinely at your response and you found, despite the situation, you couldn’t help but smile back.

“(Y/N), I can’t give you all the details right now but I need you to trust me”

“Yeah” You nodded. “Yeah, okay, I trust you”

“There’s something in your mind, trying to take over, and I’m not going to let that happen. But there’s not much I can do” He explained. “You’re going to have to fight it out of your head yourself”

“How do I fight it?” You asked, your voice barely coming out, but you pushed yourself on. He thought for a moment.

“Listen, this thing, it’s not from earth. It wants to go home, but it needed a suitable host. Do you have any idea why it would’ve chosen you?” He asked. You blinked.

“I… I want to travel” You told him honestly the thing you had been telling everyone for years. He smiled like he understood and nodded.

“Where do you want to go?” You hesitated at that one.

“Anywhere” You admitted. He paused and looked down a moment, his eyes darting back and forth as he thought. He looked up suddenly then.

“This creature’s home, do you know what it’s like?” You shook your head. “It’s a dark place, darker than almost any other planet” He described and you frowned slightly. “All living creatures are made of metal, robots like those you saw. It used to be a planet like earth but nothing really lives any more, all emotion has been erased. These creatures live simply to convert other species to their own. That’s all they do. Now, tell me, (Y/N), would you like to go there?”

“No” You shook your head, wondering why he would even be asking this.

“(Y/N), concentrate, please, I need a little more than that. Would you live without emotions?”

“No!” You said louder, trying to insist against it like he had said. “No I wouldn’t, I never would, in a million years I wouldn’t. I never want to go there”

The moment you finished speaking there was another pain in your head and you cried out, but it stopped as soon as it had started. The Doctor reached up slowly and his hand came back from your face with some kind of metal that you hadn’t noticed.

“Is that it?” You asked quietly. He nodded.

“Yeah, it’s dead now though”

He looked up at you.

“It wanted to leave. So did you, that’s why it chose you. But it wanted to go home, nowhere else. After you made it clear you wanted to go anywhere but there… It gave up. Deactivated itself” He explained.

“Oh” You said quietly. The Doctor turned to put the metal piece down on a table next to him before quickly untying you. When he finished you had leaned forward in the chair, looking down at your clasped hands. The Doctor was doing something, you didn’t know what, with the metal piece and a blue police box that sat in the corner of the room. He came over a couple minutes later, crouching down to see your face.

“Are you okay?” He asked gently. You nodded but didn’t speak.

“Come on then”

You looked up at him quickly.

He smiled as he stood, holing out a hand to you.

“You said you’d wanted to travel. Anywhere. Why not everywhere?” He grinned almost cheekily. You smiled in return but shook your head.

“I can’t just leave, Doctor. I mean yeah I want to travel but I can’t just up and go now” He rolled his eyes as if he’d heard that a hundred times.

“See that box over there?” He asked pointing. You looked over, nodding, before turning back to him.

“A police box from the 60s. What’s so important about it?”

“It’s not really a police box” He told you excitedly, like he was sharing the greatest secret in the universe.

“Then what is it?”

He wiggled his fingers impatiently, still holding out his hand. You rolled your eyes, but placed your hand in his, smiling at his grin, and let him pull you to the box. He positioned you in front of the doors, standing behind you.

“Ready?” He asked excitedly. You nodded.

He clicked his fingers and the doors swung open, revealing some kind of futuristic control room lit in blue lights that were dotted around. Your eyes widened and your mouth fell open in shock. It was amazing, it was beautiful. You found yourself running inside, stopping just up the ramp with you hands on the bars either side of you.

“No way!” You cried out, your voice echoing around the large space. You laughed loudly before turning and running back outside, running a few full circles of the box and tapping at the wooden sides before you ran back inside. By this time he was leaning on the console, watching you with an amused smile on his face.

“Well, what do you think?” He asked, waiting for an answer.

“This is better than Narnia!” Was the first thing that came out. He paused.

“Okay, that’s a new one” he admitted. “So” He clicked his fingers and the door closed behind you. You blinked at it before turning back to the Doctor, who was on the other side of the console, watching you with his hands ready over the controls. “Where to first?”

“Hold on, I said, I’d love to come but I can’t just drop everything” You told him. He laughed.

“Ah, I still haven’t introduced you to her have i?”

The machine suddenly gave a cheery hum from all around you and you looked around, surprised.

“That’d be her” The Doctor grinned. “My ship to be precise, the TARDIS. TARDIS standing for Time And Relative Dimensions In Space” He told you. You thought over the name.

“So… it’s a spaceship”

“That travels in time”

“And it’s yours?”

You frowned at the last answer when you realised something.

“Does that mean…?” Your eyes widened.

“Go ahead” he nodded.

“Well, I mean, it’s not like… offensive or anything?”

“I spend most of my time visiting earth, if I cared about being offended, I think I’d have gotten over it by now” He answered easily. You laughed.

“So you are an alien!”

“And you’ve got it” He grinned.

“So wait, I can go right now, travel with you in time and space…”

“And still be home in time for tea. What do you say?” He waited for your answer patiently, looking hopeful. You laughed gleefully.

“I say, Allons-y!” You cried, joining him by the console.

He looked surprised for a brief moment and you wondered why one French word could make him so surprised. He grinned then, moving switches and pressing buttons until he pulled one last lever with a shout of-
