i want to see this in the anime

I just wanted to say that your blog is a blessing and a safe haven for us Rivamika shippers. Thank you for all the work and time you put into this blog.... I personally started shipping them together really early on after the anime just finished airing and I clearly recall running for the hills after my first visit to Tumblr and seeing all the hate for the ship back then. I don't know why or how I stumbled back 3 years later but it was your blog that convinced me to stay

Aww @dark-als, thank you so much (♥ω♥ ) You’re always one of the first people to like my posts and I’m really grateful for your support! It makes me really happy to know you came back to the fandom because of my blog. 2014 was a difficult year to be a Rivamika fan but it was also the most rewarding because of the Uprising Arc.

So I had a crush on my best friend nd we met each other when I was 9 nd become friends over anime and kpop. We've been best friends for like 9 years (holy shit that's long) but he moved away last year...😢 we text almost everyday nd meet up still from time to time and I'm going to surprise him by applying to the same university as him cuz we both want to do the same course and I think we both have a good chance of getting in.😳 I can't wait to see the look on his face when he finds out 😂❤

Ahhh, I hope it works out then ^^

like tbh i also think it was part the writers didn’t know what type of tone yoi was gonna have.

If they wanted more comedy, or more serious moments. If they wanted a canon romance, or a hinted romance. If the anime was going to be a success or pulled off the air mid season flop.

I think by ep 3-4 when they were sure there was no way the show was gonna bomb bomb we see the REAL version of the characters come through.

can i just say something?

when I was a kid, I told my mom that I wanted to be an actress when I grew up. You know what she told me?

She said, “sure, but you’re going to have to do it in China. America won’t hire you if you’re Asian.”

And that was it for that dream.

Of course, that was just a phase - one of many, one I would’ve gotten over anyway. But what she said stuck to me. You’re going to have to act in China, because America doesn’t hire Asians.

And if there’s anything I learned over these years, it’s that she was right. Asian-Americans don’t get to see ourselves on screen. We don’t get to read about our deeds. And we get pissed. We complain, we shout, and people dismiss us because, oh, “the Japanese are okay with Ghost in the Shell”, and “I’ve heard that mainland Chinese are perfectly fine with Iron Fist.” Well, great for them. This isn’t about them.

This is about us. Asian-Americans. Asian-Canadians. Asian-Australians. Asian hyphen something. And the Asians in Asia don’t understand - because they can’t. They’re surrounded by media portrayals of them. They never have to fight for representation because it’s always there. They have no idea what it’s like to live in a country that sees you as other, and then to have to go back to your home country, to have your parents tell you “this is you, this is your culture, your heritage” and you look upon the faces of your family and you see nothing of yourself in them.

Asian-Americans are not the same as Asians who live in Asia. We live in a different culture. Our values, our beliefs, the experiences that shape our lives are separate.

We want to see ourselves in western media because it’s what we grew up with. It’s what surrounds us. Sure, we can watch K-dramas and anime and Chinese/Taiwanese/Japanese/whatever dramas, and a lot of us do, but it’s still not us

We shouldn’t have to go watch Asian dramas just to see a part of us represented. We shouldn’t have to move to Asia just to be hired.

We deserve to represent, and be represented, as ourselves.

Adrien: Mom … I miss you.

I’m very happy to have done this little animation, even if it is not totally perfect. As I had posted in an earlier post, my biggest dream is to be an animator and work for Television or Cinema. For since I have known myself by people I grew up watching cartoons and created a supreme admiration by this means. I wanted to try my ability through a GIF that I saw from Shinji, main character of Neon Genesis Evangelion, and turn into Adrien Agreste, from Miraculous Ladybug. And the great result was this that you see above.

Ace attor…nay?? We’re here to save the day!!!

Made some new Ace Attorney buttons (& a special heart shaped Miles/Feenie button!) for Anime North 2017! The ones I used to print were from 2014 and suuuper old and I didn’t like having them in circulation, despite how well they sold. so now it’s time for a redraw! I didn’t have enough time so I chose the characters that were the most liked! See y’all at AN *WINKS

You’ve captured my heart!! 💖

Heart shaped Persona 5 buttons for Anime North 2017, see you there!!!

Let’s talk about Kase-san!

If you haven’t heard, the manga series Asagao to Kase-san is getting an anime!
..Kind of. It certainly will be animated, but it’s just a music video, much to my disappointment :(

Buuut, I heard someone on twitter mentioning how the staff wouldn’t exactly work on such a small project? It’s possible, but perhaps it could be a way to gauge interest? And then possibly an actual TV series??

So here’s the staff and some stuff they worked on:

  • Director: Satou Takuya (Steins;gate, WIXOSS, Ichigo Mashimaro)
  • Character design+Animation director: Sakai Kyuuta (Steins;gate, Re:Zero, WIXOSS)
  • Art director: Hirama Yuka (TTGL, Haganai, Sukitte II na yo)
  • Director of photography: Kuchiba Takeshi (Da Capo, Mayo Chiki)
  • Color Design: Iwaida You (Oregairu Zoku, Konobi)
  • Editing: Gotou Masahiro (WIXOSS, Gakusen Toshi Asterisk, Akame ga Kill)

So they’ve basically all worked on lots of TV anime.

Also, they ARE trying to appeal to an overseas audience, which is apparent in their English tweets!

Not to get anyone’s hopes up or anything. But.

So if anyone cares for an anime:
BUY THE MANGA, share the MV, follow their twitter, visit the website, …anything to show you have interest.

For me, Kase-san is one of my favorite yuri manga; it’s super cute, wonderful art, GOOD FACES, not overly dramatic (or dramatic at all?), so this would definitely become a favorite show of mine. It’s the kind of romance I’ve wanted to see in anime :’)

Also for anyone who hasn’t seen the PV yet [here]
And the full version of the lovely song by Oku Hanako [here]

Music video is out!!! [here]

THE LITTLE MERMAID. Part of the Steampunk Fairytales project, that I would like to turn into an artbook someday. There I want to envision popular characters or scenes of the classic tales in steampunk fashion. Would you like to see more? :D

The possibility of Otayuri becoming canon

So in this post-Welcome to the Madness daze and with the information that has been released today, I would like to do some speculation about the character dynamic between Yurio and Otabek and the possible implications for this ship to become canon. I have already written a bit about this in a comment to another post here, but I would like to elaborate.

Again, this is just me throwing around ideas, with a good dose of wishful thinking.

-          Otabek enters the story quite late as a character. He is there from the beginning but we only get to see him interact with the others from episode 10 onwards. The focal point becomes what his relation is to Yuri. He whisks him away on his motorcycle, takes him to one of the most beautiful vistas in the city and then casually drops how he has admired him for the past five years. Then he offers Yuri his friendship, which has apparently never occurred in Yuri’s life before, they go for a coffee and Mari is stunned to see Yuri normally interact with another human being for a change. It’s up to you to ignore any fond gazes during this scene. What’s worth mentioning is that Yuri seems kind of perplexed by this whole thing. The “eyes of a soldier” line gets to him, because it is probably the first time someone sees him for who he wants to be.
