i want to see this in the anime

Y’know, I’m a big proponent of just lettin’ people do whatever the hell they want in fandoms as long as they’re not hurting anyone.

But when I see stuff like… edgy anime teenager Cuphead… Undertale AU where the monsters are also metaphorical monsters… grimdark reimaginings of My Little Pony…

I can’t help but think that some of y’all just straight-up missed the point.

Hey um.. Im pretty new to anime well not i knew about it but i only watched two animes (but i honestly forgot most of the content) and i need some help to choose what to watch

Well let’s see…I’ll give you some recommendations based on genre.  I’ll make sure to recommend stuff that isn’t too long.

If you wanna watch something with lots of action, I suggest My Hero Academia, One Punch Man, Gurren Lagann, and most of all Fullmetal Alchemist.  If you want action that’s a bit more “ecchi” (nudity and such) I highly recommend Kill la Kill.

If you’re in the mood for some slice-of-life, check out Azumanga Daioh or Nichijou.  The former is a bit slow with some great humor, and the latter is very hyper-active with over-the-top comedy.  Both are very cute.

If you want a comedy adventure anime, try KonoSuba.  It has a good amount of fanservice, so be wary.  All the characters are hilarious, though.

If you like a traditional magical girl anime, Tokyo Mew Mew is my favorite one.  I also suggest Cardcaptor Sakura (the sub), and Little Witch Academia.  (I’d suggest Sailor Moon, but that is a terribly long series.)

If you want an anime that will completely blow your mind with plot twists and psychological themes, try Puella Magi Madoka Magica and Paranoia Agent (this one has a few adult themes).  You can also try out School Live if you prefer something a bit more…scary.

If you wanna watch something that will make you cry, I highly /highly/ recommend AnoHana a.k.a “The Flower We Saw That Day.”  I gotta warn you, though.  I cried on the first episode.

If you’re into anime movies, then boy do I have tons of suggestions:  Wolf Children, Spirited Away, Paprika (this one’s a bit trippy), Tokyo Godfathers, Your Name, My Neighbor Totoro, Summer Wars, and The Girl Who Lept Through Time.

What do you think of Inuyashiki so far? I loved what I could read of the manga before the terrible scans sent me running, seemed like a great deconstruction of sociopathic, power fantasy heroes who litter the "horror" manga genre.

I really enjoy it! It’s pretty faithful so far and hasn’t gone through much of a redesign in terms of art either.

And you’re totally right, that’s more or less how I see it too. I’m not against ‘dark’, or even necessarily angsty heroes, but it’s become so overdone in anime where we’re supposed to see these sociopathic jerks as our eyes in to the world of any given show.

So it’s nice that the show gives us an old man, Ichiro, so pure, who basically wants to be Astro Boy. His life is Akira Kurosawa’s Ikiru mixed with every Ozu film ever made. Usually if I were referencing movies from the 50s when talking about a modern anime, I’d probably be reaching, but here it’s intentional as an interesting counterpoint.

Then you have Shishigami, who looks like every seinen, uninteresting main character in the place where he belongs rather than as the point of idolization. He has some moral compass, but it’s a shitty one. Oku plays with that idea more as the series goes on, but I’ll keep it hush for those just watching the show.

:Edit: I originally posted how someone a while back sent me a great similar assessment about Kurono from Gantz, until I discovered it was you that wrote that too. Hah. But yeah, 100% agreed.

Okay let me just say something about Salem

She’s an incredibly refreshing antagonist because unlike all the boring angsty cryptic villains of other anime (or media in general) she understands the usefulness of other people. That’s something we can see when she tells Cinder not to underestimate how important other people can be in plans.

Cinder wants to kill Ruby and not work with anyone but Salem isn’t that impulsive or stupid. She’s a really, really cool neutral evil antagonist who’s starting to grow on me a lot.

The ones I used to print were from 2014 and suuuper old and I didn’t like having them in circulation, despite how well they sold. so now it’s time for a redraw! I didn’t have enough time so I chose the characters that were the most liked! See y’all at AN *WINKS

imagine your OTP
  • i see a lot of cute otp shit like
  • person A: *rolls over in bed* you awake?
  • person B: *rolls over too* heh.. yep~ *kisses their nose*
  • *snuggles*
  • but where is the otp like
  • person A: *rolls over* are you awake?
  • person B: *violently flops over* bitch, the fuck you want?

this has already been said regarding fanart but i’ve never seen someone say it about fanfiction so here i am

people who write fanfiction are people who choose to share FOR FREE something that takes a lot of time and effort to produce

they are also people who stress over putting their work out there for the world to see, because being confident with this kind of shit is really fucking hard

so when you make jokes such as “as soon as i see that the fanfiction is in the present tense i close it” just try to imagine what it feels like for someone who writes fanfiction in the present tense, or in first person, or characterxreader, or any other “type” of fic that yall apparently hate

imagine how it must feel like to give your all only for a bunch of shit people on tumblr who think every single fanfiction out there should be a fuckin literary masterpiece to say that its shit and that “no one stands fics like that”

seriously guys, i dont know if it ever crossed your tiny closed minds, but writers write for themselves. they write what they LIKE to write and heaven knows it takes so much mental energy to find the guts to share your work with other people. so for once, can yall stop degrading fanfiction writers and start giving them the credit they deserve?
