i want to fly like a bird

Most of the squad are out on patrol, but don’t seem too terribly into it. Ginger Simoun wants to follow the birds and is like “Eh, enemies, whatever”, which seems critically poor judgment considering there was AN ENTIRE SURPRISE TANK PLATOON last episode, but what the fuck do I know.

Through assorted chatting, we learn that Usagi Simoun still doesn’t have a partner and isn’t flying, and that Neville isn’t doing much better. Specs Simoun also has a weird “I only have eyes for you” moment with Extra Simoun, which she then backpedals with “Just kidding!” in that way that never means you’re just kidding, so I don’t know what that’s about, but I sure hope it’s not an unrequited love triangle because no thank you.

Bird Emoji Review

My dude @zaplayden and I couldn’t find a review of the Bird emoji so let’s do this

Pure evil.  Excessive gradients only intensify his evil intentions. There is no sweetness in this child of darkness. 0/5

This is a pure, sweet boy. Absolutely perfect bird child. 5/5

Ancient bird friend of legend. A little stiff and out of touch, but a very reliable friend.  4/5 I would trust this fellow.

A lumpy bean friend. Kinda smells funny. Vacant stare. He’s a good boy, but needs some vacation time.  3/5

Pure intentions, but this boy looks confused. Where is he? Let him go home. Also kind of looks like he’s made of marshmallows??? 4/5

Imposter. 0/5  This is a blue fire with yellow lipstick. Stop this. He’s smug about about it too, wtf.

I have high hopes for his future. He is a good boy with good intentions. I would trust this young man. 5/5

A clumsy boy. Something is a little weird about this bird, but he still tries his best. A good friend. 4/5

An eager boy. He wants to fly but needs more practice. I support his dreams and I hope he achieves great things. 4/5

Paranoid fellow. Blames everyone else for his bullshit. Will never find love. 0/5

Eager to impress.  Might be a double agent. A handsome boy, but I do not trust him. 3/5

The world does not deserve this kind of purity. 5/5

anonymous asked:

theres a post going around saying how you should NOT get a parrot even if you are a dedicated owner. i do not personally agree and am actually a bit mad at the way they portray parrots, almost teaching people to fear them. whats your stance on it?

If you’re referring to pepperandpals’ post, I agree with it. Had you asked me this question a few years ago I would probably say otherwise but after all the experience, knowledge and dedication I’ve put in to learning I no longer believe that parrots should be sold in the pet trade under most conditions.

You haven’t a clue how many birds get mistreated, left with dowel perches, no UV lighting, small cages, seed only diets, forced to aggress, get placed in homes with teflon products, and end up living miserably with these people up until their lives end way earlier than they should have.  Too many people think that exotics are just that, exotic, a decoration, something to brag about and end up not actually caring for it as much as they should.  Too many people believe that they’re doing right or don’t need to be doing more and as a result the bird suffers.

When it comes to people who do do their research, have previous hands on experience and really care for a bird the best they can, it’s rarely ever enough when you compare, and the average person is not able to provide that sort of lifestyle for them.  Using myself as an example, I spend all day with my birds, I spend all my time adding things to environment, switching up diets, giving them exercise, mentally stimulating them, cage cleaning, rearranging the bird room, it’s no exaggeration when I say I spend a solid 12 hours that they’re awake caring for them and then spend the whole evening trying to think of ways to improve the care I’m giving them for tomorrow.  Despite how hard I try, how much research and how much i provide it never feels like enough.  because it isn’t enough.

I do my best to show you guys all the work I put in to caring for my little girls, I constantly receive messages telling me how amazing I am for giving these birds this life and all the work I put in to them but in all honesty, you guys don’t see the half of it.  You don’t see the thousands of hours of research I put in to every aspect of their life, their diets, their housing, their natural foraging experiences, safe plants, cleaning, moulting habits, behavioural situations, space division, possession, territory layouts, and so much more go on on a daily basis.  You don’t see all the work I have to do to make sure that these highly territorial species doesn’t fight and kill one another so that I can continue to have them both out as much as possible, only having them out one at a time would take away so much space and enjoyment from their lives.   You don’t see the vet bills, the preparation, the stress reducing, you don’t see the costs, the time, the energy that goes in to trying to keep them happy.  You all seem to have this idea that the care I give my birds is way beyond exceeding expectations but let me tell you something, what I do I consider to be bare minimum.

All the effort, expenses, time, and work is absolutely necessary for them to be content with a captive lifestyle, if I was away at school or work full time I would consider this care to be subpar, to be inadequate, they would be unhappy with that lifestyle because that’s not what they’re designed for. They are not meant to live this way and not everyone has the time, space, personality or tolerance necessary to care for them the way they deserve.

This is a parrotlet’s natural habitat

source

This is my parrotlets’ habitat

Can you look at those and tell me that they can possibly be perfectly content and happy this way without the time and effort I put in to it?

Can you tell me that a bird so intelligent, so so smart can be removed from that environment and so perfectly adapt without any problems?

Can you look at this bird and tell me that they’re happy with this lifestyle?

Plucking is a behaviour that only happens in captivity it has never been recorded in the wild.  Plucking is a behaviour caused by boredom, understimulation, stress, inadequate diet, and sometimes even happens just because they’re depressed.

You can not tell me that parrots are happier this way, you can not possibly tell me that taking something so perfectly adapted to a single lifestyle, perfectly designed to fly forever is okay having that removed.  You will never be able to convince me that something perfectly designed to work with flight will be happy to have them chopped off for human enjoyment.  My own Mia used to be clipped because she was from a store, my own Mia was depressed because of it, she did not move very much, she did not want to play with toys, she did not want to interact with people, she was miserable that way.  But people wouldn’t notice that, they would dismiss it as the bird’s personality or just adapting or some other excuse to ignore the fact that the bird is having a horrific time.  You will never be able to convince me that this:

is healthier or more beautiful than this

I’ve already had to make a separate post on why being clipped is so detrimental to their health even though it’s such a common practice. And I’ve made a separate post on all the work that has to go in to keeping a bird safe.

you will never convince me that being captive is healthy.

Parrots are a full time job, they are not a pet, they are not a decoration, they are not a toy, they are not a phase, they’re a commitment and a hell of a big one.  Birds should not be readily available in pet stores, owners should have to go through tests to see if they’re capable of providing a stimulating environment for the ones that already stuck in this trade.  I think that breeding should be focused on maintaining health and maintaining the survival of species such as the endangered blue throated macaws and I think that species such as hyacinths, or cockatoos shouldn’t be in homes at all.  Keeping those birds isn’t a matter or giving them an enriching life, it’s a matter of doing your best to prevent them from suffering.

In this world ignorance is bliss, a few years ago I would have thought just the same as you, I believed it’s just a bird it’s sold in a store it will be just fine.  But as soon as you learn, as you soon as you see all the harm and the suffering these birds go through you’ll change your mind.

If you are a dedicated owner, if you have the experience and knowledge you should have before you even get a bird a pet store wouldn’t even be an option.  There’s a reason that every reputable person, blogger, trainer, or other animal worker will always consider adopting before all else, it certainly isn’t a coincidence that the most educated refuse pet stores.  Breeding has resulted in so many god damned problems, I’m certain you’ve heard of the feather duster budgies caused by poor breeding or the numerous parrot hybrids, while pretty they serve no purpose.

I’m certain some of you saw this post going around featuring the feather duster budgies? Do you have any idea how many comments said “I want one”?  These birds are a genetic failure, their feathers keep growing and never stop until they die, they either die from overheating, they can’t breathe, they can’t walk to make it to food so they starve or are generally crushed under the weight.

The fact of the matter is that birds aren’t designed for this lifestyle, they are not domesticated they are wild they retain all that natural behaviour all those natural needs, they bite, they scream, they fly, they make a mess, they destroy things, they’re active, and demanding, the average person, and I’d go as far as to say a solid 70% of most bird owners, can not handle their care. How many times have you read “my bird won’t stop screaming”, “I’m considering getting rid of my bird”, “my bird won’t stop biting”, “my bird only likes one person”, “my bird hates me”, “i can’t afford this vet bill”, “I don’t want to buy a UV light or a filter”, a lot, right?

All of those problems happen because people didn’t do their research, they didn’t know how to handle the bird, how to react to the problems when they started showing up, they didn’t know what to look for they were unprepared for the care that they need.

The majority of birds from pet stores and breeders suffer, by the time they make it to 2 years old and they start acting like proper adults they get sent to shelters.  When they become adults they don’t take shit from anyone, they have 0 tolerance for your foolishness and lash out when you ignore their body language. People don’t want a bird that wants to be treated with respect, they want one that will sit there, do tricks, talk, and look cute when they want it to, they don’t want mutual trust, they want obedience and don’t want to work to get it.

I don’t care how good of an owner you think you are, once you stop blocking out everything you’ll see the damage the pet trade has on these birds and your mind will change.  It’s not a coincidence that the most educated or experienced will advise you against buying pet store birds or breeder birds and I sincerely hope you listen to them.

I know I will certainly never purchase a bird from a breeder or a store, I hope you won’t either.

Aries moon: I am the misunderstood child; I need warmth, like a fire saving me from the cold, a hand to hold, because I can be gentle too

Taurus moon: I am the lost sheep; give me stability like the solid ground underneath my feet, let good things come to me and I won’t feel any greed

Gemini moon: I am the wingless fairy; give me worlds I can discover, so my mind can learn and not only get distracted, give me a voice because I need to speak about my feelings

Cancer moon: I am the long lost mother; let me care for you, because my love is endless, be my boat so I can rest and don’t need to swim in the stormy sea from while to while

Leo moon: I am the supernova; light me up and help me let you shine when I take all the sunlight, show me that the stars and the moon are beautiful as well

Virgo moon: I am the anxious maiden; speak gently and tell me I do things right, allow me to rest and give me trust and be reliable or I will die with bleeding hands and feet

Libra moon: I am the soulles lover; give me a warm hand, someone I can feel whole with, make me stand up on my own so we can find our way back home

Scorpio moon: I am the devils right hand; teach me to embrace love like a fool, kiss me goodnight and you will be allowed to get under my skin

Sagittarius moon: I am the caged bird; let me out, help me to fly and I will come back twice a year - I will not forget you, there is a never ending fire in me

Capricorn moon: I am the lone wolf; be the cave in the whitest winters I can rest in, show me that gentleness and warmth are my best friends

Aquarius moon: I am the wondering wanderer: be the structure I missed in my early years, I want to understand you - be my own eyes and ears

Pisces moon: I am Loreley; let my words wander through your heart and soul, don’t make my sacrifices worthless, be the waves that take me to unarmed dreams

Here are the things I want for me.

First, I want to feel okay. I want to wake up every day with a smile on my face. I want to wake up every day filled with hope knowing that everything’s going to be alright.

Second, I want to feel lovely. I want to feel what it’s like to be someone that matters. Someone who counts for something who’ll forever remain a memory.

Third, I want to feel alive. I want to feel the sun’s warmth above my head and grow like a flower that always experiences spring. I want to feel what it’s like to be the best version of me.

And lastly, I want to be in love. I want a love that makes me feel free like a bird flying towards the blue sky. I want a love that comes from me.

I’m gonna go on a quick rant on feminism/femininity and Disney here.

It just riles me up when people seem to get the idea that femininity means a lack of feminism. When people take a look at the girl in the pants and the girl in the ballgown and says the one in pants is more feminist and empowering than the one in the dress. The whole point of one of the many aspects of feminism is that as women we have the right to choose to be and wear whatever we want. A woman in a dress is just as feminist as a woman in a burqa, and they’re both just as feminist as a woman in a suit or a woman in a bikini. And beyond clothing, a woman who’s married and in love is just as feminist as a woman who’s single. Here’s where Disney comes in, no one princess is a better more feminist role model than another. It’s important to have more than one type of role model yes, but just because one girl likes to fight and another girl likes to sew, it doesn’t mean that one is a better role model. All the princesses and other Disney ladies have good values to teach us and our kids in different ways and I’m gonna go through them with you.

Snow White:

For one thing this girl is 14. She is a child and her outlook on the world and her dreams in life shouldn’t be measured up to an adult’s. She’s kind, caring, and yes, she does dream of true love’s kiss. But she’s 14. When I was 14 I was dreaming of the same damn thing. But what we can learn from her is that when you care for everyone, even strangers, you’ll see that kindness returned. When she’s lost in the woods and scared for her life, she still finds the strength to be kind to the animals. In return they show her to the Dwarves’ cottage. She’s sweet and decides to clean up the place and take care of the dwarves out of the kindness of her heart and they return the kindness by giving her a home when she had none. At the end she’s rewarded with the true love’s kiss she wanted. We can even learn from the Evil Queen that vanity is a terrible thing.

Aurora:

The main thing to remember about Aurora is that for one thing, she met Phillip when she was a baby. The other thing is that while the good fairies did love her and take care of her, she grew up isolated and alone. She’s always had these dreams of meeting someone (anyone) else to break that isolation. But in that isolation she’s still strong, kind, and trusting. She loves her adoptive aunts, and for a side character(might make a post about that later) I would still count her as a good role model because of that kindness.

Cinderella:

Her, I’m definitely going to expand on in another post. But, she’s one of my favorite princess. Ironically, not one of my favorite movies, but she’s an amazing character and I love her. She’s a survivor of child abuse. That’s the very first thing that you need to understand about her. She doesn’t stay happy and content with a grin and bare it attitude, she got mad. She was snarky, and she only found happiness in the little free time she had and in her pets/friends. All she wanted that night was to go to the ball. All she wanted was one night to have fun and get out of the house. She wanted one night where she wouldn’t be berated and yelled at and ordered around. And when she met the prince, she didn’t even know who he was. She didn’t even mind that she would probably never see him again. And at the end she more or less saved herself. She didn’t wait around and sing a song from her tower to get rescued, she asked her friends to get the key and help her out. She was smart enough to pull out the other slipper. There’s nothing wrong with getting help from those around you and there’s no shame in asking for it. There’s nothing un-feminist about getting help, especially when you’re an abuse survivor. And that’s what Cinderella is about. Her fairy godmother coming to help her. Women helping women.

Ariel:

The one big thing that made the Disney renaissance so great is they decided to follow the rules of Broadway musicals. One of the trademarks of this is the “I want” song. That’s the motivation for the main character and it’s the driving force for the plot.

Ariel wants to live in the human world. That’s her dream. She desperately wants to be a human. Eric was just the straw that broke the camel’s back. Ariel is strong willed and curious. She’s the undersea equivalent of an anthropologist. She’s 16, so of course she’s going to make stupid mistakes, but she gets to live out her dream in the end and become a human. The main point and what makes her a wonderful feminist role model is that she uses that drive and curiosity to pursue her passion.

Belle:

I’m not sure I have to go into too much detail about her although I will mention, she is not a victim of Stockholm Syndrome. And to be honest how would being an abuse victim make her any less feminist? Anyway, of course she’s smart and loves reading. She loves adventure books and that’s what her “I want” song is about. She wants adventure and she wants someone who understands her and doesn’t think she’s weird for her interest. She’s a good role model not only for her love of reading but also of course for her kindness and seeing the good in people despite their appearance.

Jasmine:

She. Is. Not. A. Prize. To. Be. Won. Moving on,

Kidding. But anyway she’s great because what she values is freedom and love. I feel like a lot of people forget is the line, “when I marry, I want it to be for love”. She wants to make her own choices in all aspects of her life and she decides to leave her life of privilege to pursue that freedom. You can hear and see it sprinkled in all around the movie (and the stage show). She sees herself as a bird in a cage and she’s happiest when she’s free and litteraly flying. And at the end she chooses Aladin. It’s all about her choice.

Pocahontas:

So unintentional racism, stereotypes, white savior trope, erasing history, and pairing her with the horrible monster aside for a moment…

Let’s talk about 18 year old Disney Pocahontas as her own character. The main thing that comes to mind when I think of her is strength and bravery. She knows herself and she knows what she loves, and she’ll do anything to protect it. She also cares about the earth and environment. All of those are wonderful traits to have as a role model.

Mulan:

Again, I don’t think I have to go into much detail about why she’s a great feminist role model. She’s usually who everyone thinks of when it comes to great feminist characters.

But what I will say is one thing not a lot of people mention in her great feminist role model-ness is that she doesn’t mind being feminine. She knows the ”perfect porcelain doll” isn’t her, but she doesn’t mind dressing up when she can make it her own. Another thing that I’m surprised get’s as ignored as it does especially since it’s scattered through the whole movie including her very first scene, she’s smart. She’s not a fighter, she’s a strategist. She makes her chores easier for herself. She wins the game of Go on her way to meet the match maker. She figures out how she can protect her dad. She uses the weights to her advantage. She does trigonometry in her head on the fly. She comes up with the distraction and using the fireworks. And the epitome of it all, she uses the symbol of femininity in the movie, her fan, to outsmart Shan Yu and take his sword.

Tiana:

Can you believe I’ve heard people say Tiana isn’t feminist enough? Most people know how hardworking and practical she is, but she also learns a very important lesson that you’ll never be truly happy if you don’t let loose and have fun in reasonable amounts. She’s an amazing role model just as wonderful as everyone else in the line up and her morale is one of my favorites to try and live by. “Fairytales can come true, but you’ve gotta make them happen. It all depends on you.”

Rapunzel, Merida, Anna, Elsa, and Moana:

Honestly I feel like I don’t have to do much defending for these four. Everyone on this site has already pointed out what great feminist role models they are and many people regard them plus Tiana and Mulan as the “best” most feminist princesses. I love them all too, and of course they’re all great feminist role models, I just don’t think there’s much I could add.

Anyway, I think a /lot/ of other Disney ladies are also wonderful feminist role models but this was supposed to be just the princess lineup. and I might make separate posts for them. But if you’ll notice I didn’t take relationship status, style choices, hobby choices, sexuality headcannons, or appearance into account when talking about what great role models they are because you shouldn’t. Of course women and girls deserve more than just one type of girl to look up to, but one type of girl isn’t any better or worse than another. You can be hyper feminine like Cinderella, Not feminine at all like Merida, or a little bit of both like Mulan. You can be smart like Belle, or naive yet kind like Snow White. All of them are wonderful.

I’ll go ahead and leave you my favorite Disney feminist hero.

(she’s amazing. google her real quick)

‘Lust for Life’ best lyric quotes

Lana Del Rey just released her not-so-dramatic new album, gracing us with beautiful poetry — something that’s not unusual to her songs. Here are my favorite quotes from LDR’s new lyrics!

1. Love

“You’re part of the past, but now you’re the future“

“The world is yours and you can’t refuse it“

“It doesn’t matter if I’m not enough
For the future or the things to come
‘Cause I’m young and in love“

2. Lust for Life

“In these stolen moments
The world is mine”

“'Cause we’re the masters of our own fate
We’re the captains of our own souls“

“There’s no stopping now, green lights forever

3. 13 Beaches

“It hurts to love you, but I still love you“

“But you still can find me if you ask nicely”

4. Cherry

“Real love is like feeling no fear“

“A touch from your real love
Is like heaven taking the place of something evil”

“I fall to pieces when I’m with you“

5. White Mustang

“I didn’t call when I got your number
But I liked you a lot”

“You held me in your arms just a little too tight“

6. Summer Bummer

“It’s never too late
To be who you wanna be“

“It’s never too late
To leave if you wanna leave
Or to stay if you wanna stay“

MAY HOROSCOPES

Mercury ends its retrograde this month, but a full moon in Scorpio and an intense new moon in Gemini are on the way!

Aries: Know that no one can truly understand the kind of person you are. And it has been especially hard these last few weeks. You are the only one who can see how strong you are. You are a fighter and a warrior and you will never see your land be conquered by another’s bones.

Taurus: To someone, you are their whole world. You must see yourself as the sun. The things you will accomplish this month will be grand because you are ready to give your whole self away. Sometimes this is good, especially when everyone around you needs your light.

Gemini: It feels as though you’ve been far away from yourself, lately. It seems like all you do is pick at yourself until you don’t have any more to say. Learn to take control of that lion voice again. With all of its working parts, you will be growing once more.

Cancer: It seems that you may have had an overwhelming few weeks. There’s no other sign who could have handled this with as much compassion as you. Prioritize yourself first this month. Send out those postcards and relax. Let your mind catch up to your body.

Leo: Let the right people step into your light this time. I know you wish to shine on everyone like a comet swallowing the earth whole. But, some only want to crush rocks. You must protect yourself but you mustn’t sacrifice your shine.

Virgo: Let those birds in your heart fly free this month. Finally, the universe has aligned for you and all of your endeavors. Learn to listen without those eyes in the back of your head. Listen with your whole heart and let yourself trust.

Libra: Life has been steering you in all different directions lately yet nothing drastic has happened. This month, the places where you have gone and the people you have met will all make sense to you now. There’s a spot right in the center of the universe for you and you may get there sooner than you think.

Scorpio: You are way more complex than people can ever imagine. You may have been a bit down these past few weeks but trust that the stars have other plans for you, if you only let them in. Your personal goals have a way of just falling into your lap this month so don’t close your eyes just yet.

Sagittarius: Leave old habits behind because a new breed of chaos is about to stumble in. An exciting surprise is on its way and the arrow is pointing straight at you. There’s new air to breathe, and there’s new life to take out of your old one.

Capricorn: There’s been a huge change in your life this month, but don’t worry, something good will come out of it. All you have to do is greet it like an old friend. There’s things that it will tell you about where you’re headed in life and where the universe will take you this month.

Aquarius: There are people in your life that want you to believe that what you’re doing is wrong. But your way is the one that works for you. It’s the one that will lead others straight to turmoil, but to you, that’s adventure. Hardships come your way, and instead of going around them, you go through them.

Pisces: A surge of confident energy is coming your way this month and you have to grab on. New people will walk into your life and they will have a bigger importance than you know. But soon, you will realize that there can be no dark without light. And there’s much more sunlight coming your way.

concept: every word that’s thought about you appears on your skin like a tattoo.

there’s your best friend, aromantic and proud of it, the kindest person you’ve ever met. she knows everybody in your grade by name and she has more friends than anyone you know. she won’t ever wear shorts because she’s embarrassed of showing her legs where she’s covered in compliments, proof that she is loved a thousand times over.

there’s the boy who loves reading and drawing and other boys. he comes to school with sharpied artwork all over his skin to cover up the words that scream QUEER over and over and over. he holds himself tall and smiles at everyone and when people see him, they think masterpiece before they think gay.

there’s the most popular girl in high school, four-time homecoming queen, who harbors a secret love for math. at lunch her friend wrinkles his nose at her calculus homework - “damn, you’re such a nerd.” she laughs it off and every time her heart breaks a little. NICE and PRETTY dot her skin like freckles, but she’d burn all of them off just for one SMART.

there’s the boy you sit behind in english class with soft eyes and a tragic smile. one day his sleeves slip back and you see JUST KILL YOURSELF ALREADY snaking across his arm and between the slits on his wrist. so for a week you concentrate on the same thought, and on friday you finally see the product of your labor: YOU ARE LOVED YOU ARE LOVED all across his hand and crowding out the words on his wrist. he touches it every few minutes, gently, like he can’t believe it’s really there, and you smile so hard you almost cry.

and there’s you, with a patchwork of compliments intertwined with the insults: your hipbones read FAT and your ankles read I WISH I WERE YOUR FRIEND. some nights you spend hours in front of the mirror, fingers tracing over the constellations patterned across your skin, wondering which words came from whom. sometimes you find an extra I LOVE YOU tucked into the curve of your elbow and you’re ecstatic, but when it fades away days later you feel like you’ve lost something. most of the words come and go, but always, over your heart, there’s this: YOU WILL MAKE IT. and on the bad days when all you want is to fall onto your bed and cry your eyes out and never get back up, you look in the mirror instead and think, you will make it. you will make it, i swear. you will.

—  little bird, i promise you will fly | paperharbors

@columboring

You know what, I’m guessing you expected me to scream and kick and argue with you but you’re wrong. I agree with you on most levels.

Birds don’t belong in captivity. Especially macaws, cockatoos, amazons, African greys, and other highly social birds that we, as humans, have decided to keep as single birds for generations. These birds deserve to live free and happy lives, away from humans and in their natural environment.

You’re absolutely right about a lot of things. Most birds are neurotic messes in captivity because they don’t belong here. The larger parrots are only a few generations removed from their wild counterparts, they’re not even close to domesticated. They’re simply in the process of domestication which, in my opinion, is an incredibly horrible idea. This isn’t going to stop anyone from obtaining them as pets, and there are going to be rescues who have to deal with the fallout of those who fall out of love with their parrot.

Birds such as finches, budgies, cockatiels and pigeons, however, are domesticated species. The birds in my care are many, many, many generations removed from their wild counterparts. They are also all rescues, which I’m guessing you didn’t bother to find out. I didn’t buy my birds from a breeder, they came from owners who no longer wanted them. As such, I’ve done my utmost to care for them in every aspect of their lives.

Two of my birds lived in a vet clinic for 17 years. It was absolutely abhorent. At first when I was told about them, I only intended to look at them and help find them a new home. When I saw what nasty conditions they were in AT A VETERINARY CLINIC I took them in that week.

All of my birds are given fresh foods, vitamins, fresh water, treats, and a varied diet of many different brands of high-end food.

All of my birds are free to leave their cages from the point they wake up to the point they go to bed. They willingly go from cage to cage, and are allowed to do as many avian things as possible at every moment in the day.

All of my birds are flighted, with the exception of the Old Men (who were pinioned which is an absolutely disgusting thing to do to birds). They fly wherever they want to.

You likely didn’t expect a reply like this. But you are right, many birds don’t belong in captivity. It’s why we have a crisis of birds in sanctuaries. More educating needs to be done and more people need to adopt, not shop. Even more need to realize that keeping birds will never be for them.

I’m sorry that my birds upset you to the point that you felt the need to write this message. I want you to know they are happy, healthy, and cared for better than I care for myself. Their welfare is far above my own and I regularly spend half my months pay on their needs. That being said, releasing any of these birds into the wild like it seems you are implying would be an immediate death sentence.

I care for them far too much to do that.

Tales of Delicious Revenge from a Recovering Retail Worker

I discovered this sub a while ago and it has breathed new life into my withered soul. Today, it’s time that I return the favor.

These tales of petty revenge all took place over the three long years that I had the misfortune of working retail at a big-box store best known for its red bullseye logo and bitchy middle-class clientele. Enjoy.

ONE: THE TAG SWITCHER
I was working in the fitting room one night when this lady bustles in with 3000 different items of clothing that she wanted to try on. Unfortunately my store had just lifted the item limit for the fitting room, so I begrudgingly had to let her take everything back.

She proceeds to make a HUGE mess in the fitting room (leaving clothes inside-out all over the floor, tags ripped off of items, size stickers peeled off and slapped onto the wall… the whole nine yards).

After she leaves, I report the ripped off tags to Assets Protection (per fitting room policy) and, figuring that would be the extent of my revenge, I resigned to cleaning up the mess she left me.

Then I get a call from the manager. He wants me up at the registers to do back up. I had worked the registers before, but it was exceptionally rare for me to get pulled away from the fitting room to do backup. Still, I don’t protest and I head up to the register.

Guess who my first customer is? Yep, the mess-making bitch from the fitting room. The manager has directed her straight to me, and I can tell from the wide-eyed look of horror on her face that she realizes she has just been lead into a trap.

She slowly begins to plop her items onto the conveyerbelt and tries to make nervous small-talk. At first I assume she’s just feeling awkward about the mess that she left… but when I get a better look at her items, I immediately realize there’s something much fishier going on.

Her purchase consists entirely of women’s clothing, and I recognize most of the items as brand new stuff that has recently come in. Stuff that should cost full price. So when I see nearly every single item’s price tag covered with a bright red 70% off clearance sticker, I realize that something’s up. When I look down at the first item from her pile, my suspicions are confirmed: the item I’m holding in my hands is a woman’s Mossimo Black clothing item, but it has a bright blue Circo tag that belongs on infant boy clothes.

Busted! This bitch was switching tags on clothes to get a lower price! Not only that, but she was so brazen (or stupid) that she used tags from the wrong department!

I don’t make it immediately obvious that I’ve figured out her scheme. Instead, I think fast. From my experience in the fitting room, I know every item of clothing has a little white tag on the inside that has a nine-digit item code. So instead of scanning the items, I proceed to type in each and every item manually, using the ACTUAL numbers inside each garment.

The woman watches this all unfold with a nauseous look on her face, as item after item rings up at full price ($19 - $29, compared to the $2 or $4 price tags she had stuck on each item). As her total grows, so does the look of combined hatred and fear on her face.

Finally she stammers something about “coming back later” and runs off towards the exit. The Assets Protection guy watches her walk out, then comes over to me. He reveals that he had been watching this chick before she even went into the fitting room, but he didn’t have enough on camera to approach her. Since I was the only team member working that night who was familiar with the clothing / tags, the manager put me on the register to check her out.. literally!

TWO: THE PHONE SHOPPER
It’s the week before Christmas and the store is frantic. I’m manning the phones (which are ringing off the hook), and one night I get a call from Bitch Princess, who wants to know if we have any [insert name of whatever animatronic hatching robot dog toy every kid had to have that year].

Now the store’s holiday policy said we could confirm availability over the phone, but we weren’t supposed to put high-demand items (like the barking bird robot thing) on hold for a customer. Regardless, I was still un-jaded enough to like hooking people up (I’m still waiting on that lifetime of good retail karma to kick in…)

I let BP know that this highly-coveted toy has been flying off the shelves for weeks and I’m doubtful that we have any in stock, but I can happily check for her if she’s willing to go on a brief hold. She impatiently agrees to the hold, and I set the phone down.

After being slightly delayed by a customer that ambushed me on the sales floor, I miraculously find ONE of these stupid toys on the shelf. I grab it and head back to my post, excited to tell BP I just saved Christmas, but when I get back I find the phone ringing again. Recognizing the number on the caller ID display, I quickly deduce that Bitch Princess has hung up and is now calling back.

I barely get a chance to recite my scripted greeting before BP cuts me off, yelling that I put her on hold for “30 minutes” (more like 7), that she’s a customer and it’s my job to assist her, some nonsense about her having priority over the customers in the store, blah blah blah. I want to point out that literally NONE of what she’s saying is true, but I keep my lips sealed.

Instead, in a ridiculously pleasant voice, I say: “ma’am, thank you SO MUCH for your patience. I checked the sales floor and couldn’t find [stupid toy], but the computer is telling me that we might have one in the backroom. If you bear with me for another minute here, I can—”

She grumbled that yes, I could check the backroom, but I “better hurry” because she doesn’t have time for this. Smiling gleefully, I put the phone back on hold and proceed to return [stupid toy] to the spot where I found it on the sales floor. I then spend a nice chunk of time helping out ACTUAL customers in the store.

Eventually I remember that BP is still waiting on hold and I return to the phone. “Ma’am, good news… we do have ONE in stock,” I say. BP immediately barks at me to put it on hold, and a devious Grinch-like smile spreads across my face. “I’m so sorry ma’am, but we’re actually unable to put high-demand items on hold at this time. All I can do is confirm that it’s currently available on the sales floor…”

BP unleashes the wrath of a thousand fiery infernos and demands to speak to a manager. I oblige, transferring her to the closing manager (who confirmed the store policy, before promptly being hung up on).

I was pretty pleased with the turn of events, but the cherry on top came a short time later when BP actually shows up at the store, only to discover that the toy had already been purchased by another guest.

THREE: THE SHOE SNATCHER
It was nearly closing time, and I was tasked with “zoning” (or straightening up) the shoe department for the night. It was nearly impossible for me to get anything done, though, because this obnoxious woman kept making me drop everything to help her shop for shoes for her toddler.

The worst part was that the woman didn’t put anything back where she found it. Instead, she just leaves the shoe boxes strewn throughout the aisle (wtf). She finally leaves, and I drag myself over to the massive mess that she’s left behind.

As I’m returning all of the discarded shoe boxes to their rightful locations, I’m popping them open to make sure the correct shoes are inside. When I open one of the boxes, I discover a very sweet sight indeed: a dirty pair of toddler sneakers.

It’s a scam I’ve seen far too many times: someone swaps out a pair of new shoes with their old dirty shoes. Only this time, instead of getting away, I had caught the crook red-handed (or red-footed?)

I tucked the shoebox under my arm and quickly retraced the woman’s steps. Sure enough, I was able to find her in the grocery section. And sure enough, her toddler was sitting in the cart wearing a pair of brand new cartoon character sneakers.

I approached the mom with a giant shit-eating grin on my face and said: “I’m so glad I caught you! You almost left without these!” I held open the box with the dirty sneakers.

The woman had the nerve to pin the blame on her child, playing it off as if her kid had swapped the sneakers. Smh.

BONUS: HERE’S ONE THAT’S SHORT & SWEET FOR THE ASS CLOWN IN THE COMMENTS WHO COMPLAINED ABOUT THIS BEING TL;DR

Holiday shit always gets marked down to clearance the day after a holiday and people tend to get a little worked up about it. One time, this guy calls the store the day after Easter and asks how much the white chocolate Cadbury mini eggs had been discounted. I told him they were marked down 30% (the standard first mark down) and he’s not satisfied with that and hangs up. He proceeds to call back EVERY DAMN DAY to ask for the price, and every time he’s rude and weird about it. When they finally get marked down to 50%, I think he’ll bite… but nope. Still not cheap enough.

Finally at 90% he’s interested and asks me, over the phone, to take every single bag off the sales floor and put them on hold for him. I tell him no (goes against store policy to hold clearance), but since the candy is about to be defected (taken out of inventory), the manager tells me to just do it. So I wheel a cart over to the clearance aisle, and that’s when I hatch a plan.

There are two kinds of candy leftover in clearance: white chocolate Cadbury mini eggs, and white chocolate m&ms. For whatever reason, we have about 50 bags of each. Feeling a spirit of pettiness overtake me, I fill the cart with the m&ms and push it to the front with a 24 hour hold ticket. I wasn’t there when the guy showed up the next morning, but I’d imagine he was pretty livid to discover the wrong candy on hold, and then to realize that the actual candy he wanted had been defected out.

The Flying Graysons - Dick Grayson x Reader

I present to you a fluffy happy peace offering for my actions this weekend. I just realized that I actually have not yet written Dick as a father, which is a shame since he’s so great with children.

Tagging: @memento-scribet @speedypan @cait-writes-stuff @birbs-and-the-bat

Words: 1295

“Come on Little Bird! We don’t want to keep Mister Haly waiting!” Dick squeezes the tiny hand of your daughter and she all but runs to return to her place between the two of you, her black curls bouncing with every step.

The three of you walk through the mostly empty parking lot leading to the circus tent. Since Dick’s childhood show was back in town, you thought it would be a good opportunity to take your daughter to see where her dad grew up. When you mentioned the idea to Dick, his face lit up, and he immediately called his old ringmaster to see if they could come early before the show and show little Mary around.

“Daddy, will there be clowns at the circus?” Mary asks and looks at Dick with her big blue eyes and a furrowed brow.

“Yes, baby. There are clowns at the circus. Why do you ask?”

“Because clowns are scary,” she pouts at him, and you can see his heart melting at her stare.

“Mary, clowns are just people with funny clothes and makeup on who like to act silly,” you say.

“Then why does Uncle Wally talk about them being bad?”

“Because Uncle Wally is silly and doesn’t know what he’s talking about.” Dick says as he picks her up and places her on his shoulders. The sudden action causes her to squeal and laugh as she clutches to Dick’s hair to keep from falling off.

Her laughter stops when you walk into the tent, and you look up to see her little face is filled with awe.

The circus performers aren’t in costume yet, but they are practicing and warming up for tonight’s performance. You note that Mary’s eyes are particularly drawn to the animals on the far side of the ring.

“Look Daddy! Elfants!” She points excitedly and leans forward, causing Dick to lower his head a bit.

“Yes, Little Bird, I see the elephants.” He gently picks Mary back up and places her on the ground, much to her dismay.

“Well if it isn’t my boy Dick Grayson!” Comes a booming voice from the center of the ring. You look up to see a balding man with white hair making his way toward your family. “I’d know you anywhere! Though I will say you’re much bigger than the last time I saw you.”

“The same could be said about you, Mister Haly!” Dick waves at the man and starts leading you and Mary down the stairs onto the floor.

“Please, Dick! Just call me Jack already! No need to make an old man feel older than he already is,” Haly laughs. He pulls Dick into a tight hug and pats him on the back. “It’s good to see you boy.” He looks past Dick’s shoulder to you and Mary. “And who are these beautiful ladies you’ve brought with you?”

“Jack, this is my wife, Y/N,” Dick says and you step forward to shake Jack’s hand, though Mary clings to your leg, suddenly acting very shy.

“And that Little Bird right there is Mary,” Dick gestures to your daughter, who’s blue eyes and black hair are just about all Jack can see with her hiding behind you.

At the mention of Mary’s name Jack’s eyes grow misty and he looks at Dick. “You know, I didn’t think that Mary Grayson would ever be in this ring again. I still miss them, kiddo. But then I’m sure you do, too.”

“I do, but I’m sure they’d be happy with the life I’ve found,” Dick laces his fingers through yours, and you smile at him.

“I’m sure you’re right,” Jack says. He turns around and tries to lighten the mood. “So, Dick. How would you like to try out the trapeze? For old times’ sake?”

Dick smiles and starts walking to the ladder leading to the platform. “You know what, Jack? I think that sounds great!”

“Mommy, what’s Daddy doing?” Mary asks as she pulls on your hand.

“He’s going to do some tricks for us like he used to when he was a kid.” You say as you pick her up and hold her to your hip.

“That’s right Mary! Your daddy is one of the best fliers I’ve ever seen!” Jack says in an animated voice that instantly gains Mary’s trust and causes her to giggle.

“But he’s really high up. What if he falls?” She asks when Dick gets to the top.

“That’s what that net is for.” You point and make sure she sees that if Dick falls the net will catch him. One of the performers hands Dick a bar and he steps to the edge.

When he jumps Mary lets out a yelp of fear, but when Dick swings back up and does a flip on the bar, she gets excited.

“Look Mommy! Daddy’s flying!”

“It’s just like riding a bike.” Jack smiles. Dick does one more flip before releasing the bar and landing safely on the net. “A Grayson never forgets how to fly.”

“I’m a Grayson! I want to fly!” Mary starts wiggling out of your arms. Dick is back on the ground and is making his way back to you. Mary takes your hand and pulls you toward Dick. “Daddy! Daddy! I want to fly, too!”

“Are you sure, Mary? It can be scary at first.”

“Yes, Daddy! I want to fly like you!” Mary is practically bouncing up and down in excitement.

“She reminds me of you when you were her age!” Jack laughs at your side.

Dick must see the worry in your eyes because he gets down on Mary’s level to talk to her. “Okay, Little Bird. I can take you flying. But you have to ask Mommy if it’s okay with her.”

Mary spins back around and gives you her best puppy dog eyes. “Please, Mommy! Can I go fly with Daddy?!” While you have no problems with telling your daughter ‘no,’ the real fight is saying ‘no’ to Dick’s pleading eyes. You can tell that he wants to do it more than anything. To give her this tiny piece of his childhood.

“Okay, Mary.”

“YAY!!!” Mary screams in excitement, and Dick looks at you with a bit of concern.

“Are you sure, Y/N?”

“Yes, Dick. As much as it scares me, I trust you more than anyone else in the world. And she deserves to feel what you feel when you’re up there.” He smiles at you and kisses your cheek.

“Thank you,” Dick whispers in your ear before pulling back and taking Mary up the ladder with him, making sure that she doesn’t slip and fall.

You and Jack return to where you had been standing before to watch. When Dick and Mary get to the top, the other performers put a harness on Mary for safety, and Dick takes the trapeze bar. You can tell by Mary’s body language that she is second guessing her decision. Dick throws one leg over the bar and holds onto the swing with one hand while the other holds Mary close to his body, and he kicks off from the platform.

Mary screams when they first take off, but it quickly turns into laughter once Dick holds onto her with both hands and hangs the two of them upside down off the bar. He then swings back up and she laughs again and throws her arms around her father’s neck.

You can’t help but smile at both of your blue eyed black haired birds, flying above the world.

“You know, it would be nice to advertise for the Flying Graysons again.” Jack smiles and pokes you in the side. “That little one is a natural. She’s definitely a Grayson.”

“Yes.” You smile. “Yes she is.”

i have always been space girl, out-of-this-world girl, stars-in-my-eyes girl: out of sight, out of reach, on my own planet. he grabbed me and he grounded me and all the romance writers swooned but it was not a good thing.

i was conned into thinking it was love: the newspaper headlines screamed BOY CATCHES SPACE GIRL, BRINGS HER DOWN TO THE GROUND WHERE SHE BELONGS WITH THE REST OF US and it seemed like love, the way he shackled me to trees and looped my hair through chain-link fences and planted my feet in the ground like corpses in shallow graves. i was taught to fall for the way he clutched my hands too tight, kissed lead into my skin so i couldn’t float away: he loves you, he needs you, he wants you to stay.

now i know better: any lover who cannot watch me as i ascend and have faith that i am loyal enough to come back home is not worth the sacrifice of becoming a caged bird. don’t clip my wings, don’t tether me like a star in a glass case – do not force me to love the earth. if you really need me, i will teach you how to fly.

When I said that you were my heart,

I meant the poetry wouldn’t write the same if you weren’t around. If my words ever loved me back, it will have been when you came into my life. If my poetry ever gave a solid fuck about my feelings, it will have been the day you started to call me your little brother. If I ever flatline and you still called me yours, I would like you to know, this journey has been worth every night when we couldn’t sleep. If I ever grew roses from my skull, I would like you to have them. If my voice doesn’t sound the same and you can no longer recognize it, I would ask the same questions and you’d recognize me right away. If I ever let you fall too far, don’t worry, darling, I’d become the haystack and you’ll be the needle. I’ll find you, don’t worry. And it’s been a trip, and it’s been a book, but you’ve never looked twice when it came to me. The many nights when you chose to talk to me among others and the many nights when the sky shared shades of red instead of pitch black will always be a reminder that even the sky bleeds at night. Even if we chose to break today, the words we have shared will live on forever and if I ever got another chance at fucking up everything in my life just to find you… You better believe it when I say that I’ll make every mistake just to find the one thing that I’ll never regret. I’ll fall down each time just to return to how it is now and I know it’s a long shot, but if it ever happened, I’m glad to have met you in this poetically burned life.

When I said that you were my soul,

I meant the trees wouldn’t be the same color. The way the leaves shed themselves every fall through winter. The way Halloween makes us mask ourselves because the ugliness we hold within has finally found a place called home. The way December added to our pain. If I ever got away with murder, it will have been because I killed myself once too many in my poems and I finally forgave myself. I meant every word of the undying wish that I’ll always find a way to grow as long as you’re around. I meant every spilled drop when I ripped open my arms and let the veins spell your name. I meant the letters were for you and only you. I know the weather doesn’t always permit, but if it rains and you’re ever sad, I want you to know, that even flowers can live near volcanos. I want you to know that fire can provide water. I want you to know that anger can somehow and someday become refined happiness. I want you to know that your younger brother is slowly growing into his own and maybe I’ve never really needed to grow too much, maybe I just needed to find myself again. I want you to know that besides being a rose, you are the poetry that I couldn’t write, but rather… You are the poetry that I would love to read forever. That’s what I meant when I said that your tore my soul open and restitched it whole. That’s what I meant when I said that you always knew how to make me smile.

When I said that I loved you,

I meant if everyone decides to leave you. If everyone you have ever loved abandons you. If any stranger that has befriended you betrayed your trust. If anyone who has ever touched your heart and decided that it was too broken. If religion finally realized that you weren’t a complete angel. If the sand near your toes decided to return to the ocean. If your fingers can’t remember when they were last held. If you can’t sleep at night because you miss him, him, her, him, him, him and him. If you ever miss that seed that you never got around to grow because life wasn’t meant for the both of you. If the mistakes finally carved themselves into your wrist. If the memories slowly destroy your very being because you can’t forgive yourself for being a shitty human. If your smile is fading by the hour and the caretaker you once knew, when she was standing way taller than you… but now she won’t be able to even match your laughter. If your inner child finally feels your first cut. If your outer adult finally feels your first tears. If you finally crack and can’t go on. If you finally give up. I meant that I will always love you. Even if you break. Even if you bleed. Even if you’re sick. Even if you’re lonely. Even if you have no one. Even if they all leave. Even if you’re unsure. Even if you’re frustrated. Even if you’re angry. Even if you’re indecisive. Even if you’re insecure. Even if you’re crying. Even if you can’t think. I will always have your back because you’re my best friend and I wouldn’t have it any other way.

When I said that I will always love you,

I meant the noose will always be ready for my neck. I meant the bullet will always have a name. I meant the blood will always stain. I meant the pain you have gone through isn’t beautiful, it’s simply you. But anything about you, it is laced with beauty. And the sadness we still endure will always have a home, it will always have a home as long as I’m around. And the black magic we write together, it will be used to put out fires, it will be used to calm the ocean, and it will be used to slow self torment. I meant if love ever made its way into my arms, I will most likely find you alone on a bench and I’ll say “it has to.” Because it does and it will and I believe it.

When I said that I will always have your back,

I meant you won’t ever have to be uncertain. I meant you won’t ever have to think twice. I meant you won’t ever have to be afraid. I meant you can sleep with both eyes closed. I meant you can love and be free. I meant you won’t ever have to doubt. I meant you can be anxious. I meant you can be nervous. I meant you can be you without fear of rejection. I meant you can change and I’d still love you. I meant you won’t ever need to trust again.

When I check up on you everyday,

I meant hello. I meant hey. I meant I missed you. I miss you. I love you. I’m here. Hi. I meant how are you. I meant how is my sunshine. I meant how is your heart. I meant how is your smile. I meant how is your mother. I meant how is your poetry. I meant how is your trust coming along. I meant do you still trust me. I meant do you still feel hurt. I meant you can trust me with your woes. I meant I won’t pry, but I will low-key try to find out if you’re okay or not. I meant if you don’t talk about it, just know that I’d still love your ways even if it meant you took forever to open back up. I meant if you ever needed to trip, I’ll be the unlaced shoes. If meant if you ever needed to die, I will be your reason not to.

When I asked you “does it get better?”

I meant how are you real. If you exist, then what am I? If you’re more than a mirage, then am I just another small piece of sand in the desert? If you’re a dream, am I just a nightmare gone wrong? Am I the sweat pouring from your skin or am I the rainfall you’ll feel each year when the earth splits into something that feels like everything and nothing at the same time. I meant does this room have enough space for two poets. I meant does your heart have enough cracks for a garden of roses. I meant does your smile have enough happiness to fill your lungs. I meant when was the last time you woke up with a smile. I meant if you broke today and no one was around, would you tell me?

When I said that you were my darling,

I meant that it’s almost been a whole year since I’ve first talked to you. I feel more now, I feel the lightness of it all. I feel okay now, I feel my wrongs but I also feel hers. I meant the first time I read your poems, I felt inferior. I meant when I read them now, I feel like family. I meant your bluntness kinda reminded me of my cousin, but now you’re bluntness kinda has its own ring. You have your own number and your own phone company. You have your own sting and your own hive. You are a queen and you are the workers. You are the trees and some days, I’m all of the leaves and it’s spring forever.

When I said that your poetry was beautiful

I meant I could pick it out among a million other poets. I meant I could spot an imposter an inch away from your greatness. I meant I could smell the bullshit they try to string you up as. I meant the words can never leave our veins and if we happen to trip, and if we happen to bleed for too long. Hang me up in the sky and let the rain drizzle for a little longer, don’t worry each drop is a poem and each thing we grow with this soft memory of us will always be just another reason to believe that you’re everything beautiful and pure.

When I said that I can hear your smile,

I meant we were children growing up that found out about the crowds. I meant we were teenagers growing up that looked for something more. I meant we lived two different lifestyles, but ended up seeing eye to eye. I meant that a family doesn’t always end up as family sometimes, because the pain isn’t always seen and the fear isn’t always said and that scares me the most, doesn’t it for you? I meant that if I were to simply disappear, I would want you to know; that even if I didn’t see you smile in person, I will have known peace because the ring of it all, the way I can hear the birds flying away when your lips decided that being quiet was enough and this isn’t going anywhere unless you told the truth. I meant that even if I became a liar and I couldn’t see myself for who I really was, I’d always have someone like you around. We’re all just lost souls trying to find a home and darling, I know people make shitty homes, but you’ve always been my favorite and it has been some time and I’ve never thought about relocating to anywhere else but inside of your lungs and you may not be able to breathe… but it must be gorgeous being you.

When I said that I will always be here for you,

I meant the number is always here and you know where to call. I meant the poetry is always here, you just need to write. I meant my heart is on your sleeve, you just need to feel. I meant the stars are in your eyes, you just need to see. I meant freedom is in your words, you just need to speak. I meant literature runs down your spine, you just need to read. I meant the world may be going to shit, but as long as you’re around, there’s still hope and as long as I’m around, there’s a chance that I’ll always be here for you.

When I said that you need not worry,

I meant don’t. Don’t worry about me. Don’t be scared. Don’t add to the stress. Don’t add to the red of Fall. Don’t look back. Look forward. I’m not too far. I’m not in the past. I’m now. I’m always. I’m forever. I’m a promise you’ll never have to worry about being broken. I’m a morning with sunlight and clouds fighting to cover your skies. I’m a night with moonshine and stardust waiting to touch your eyes. I’m your favorite song on repeat. I’m the last thing you’ll hear before bed. I’m the person checking your closet and under your bed. If monsters are real and sure enough, they are, I’ll make sure they understand that even people need space. People need room to breathe. And if they want to live, they better get out of the dark and run into the light because it’s such a tragedy if they just stopped being. We live in such colors, we live in such grey. The world is such a dangerous place, but you’ve managed to make it feel safe. The world is so flawed, but you’ve managed to make it feel perfect. I meant everything about you and I hope one day, I’ll understand everything that you’ve been meaning to tell me about myself.

So when you said that you loved me too,

I finally understood all of the things
I’ve always meant to tell you.

—  I mean it.
