i want to be famous for this post

anonymous asked:

I've come to the conclusion that the MOGAI hell/anti-MOGAI and anti-queer rhetoric is basically a power play. By establishing lgbt without any other initials as the sole authority of all non-straight and non-cis issues their ideology is also the only one seen or heard. Both MOGAI and queer community are inherently inclussive and the latter is famous for wanting to dismantle the current social system that enables the oppression and discrimination we face instead of becoming part of the system.

Pretty solid conclusion.

I’ve had similar thoughts. I don’t remember if I’ve made a post about it or not, but hey, might as well expand on it now!

A lot of exclusionism is built on respectability politics - it’s seen as being more important to gain societal access to power structures than it is to dismantle the power structures altogether. And it becomes important to frame the group that you belong to in as simple of terms as possible to then be able to say to those in who belong to the power structure that there is only one teeny-tiny thing different between them and your group so that you may be able to obtain conditional access to the power structure.

Within the LGBTQ+ community we can see this. Just in the ace discourse alone we see a lot of re-framing of what the LGBTQ+ community is - claiming that the acronym is only LGBT(pn) and stating that the community is only for those who are sga or trans is a perfect example. By including no + (and also by directly stating it) they make the community only consist of those who are lesbian, gay, bi, and trans (and pan/ply people and nonbinary people if they’re willing to either a. call themselves bi/trans or b. remember to include their performative “pn”). Further, if people’s sexuality doesn’t fit nicely into that “sga” box, they claim that those people “aren’t really x sexuality”.

They also create phrases directly to other those who don’t fit into their narrow re-framing of the community, like “MOGAI-hell” and “radikweer” to make it clear to those on the outside who belong to the pericishetero-patriarchy power system that these people with less acceptable and more confusing, wild, unwieldy, and “““strange””” identities are not with them.

You see this outside of the discourse as well, a lot of the time as a exclusion of trans and nonbinary people. You get people saying things like “You should support LGBT+ rights because they’re just like you, only they love a different gender.”

Basically, I feel like a lot of the pushes to rid the group of certain members is to make sure that the community fits that above sentiment. Essentially, that’s the way to make the community the most palatable to the pericishetero-patriarchy and be able to benefit from that system. It leaves those of us who don’t fit that neat little acceptable box on the outs, which is why, generally speaking, you’ll find that multispec, aspec, trans, nonbinary, intersex, and queer people are more invested in dismantling the system altogether, and as such tend to be inclusionary in their community politics to build a stronger community to be able to better handle that challenge.

Ah. That’s where the beginning of the end begun, kids.

Anne, please stop doing that.

ok, edit added later (of the 22/09/17, today): guys, don’t insult her when you reblog this post. Yes, this is a very bad decision. Ok? But this doesen’t mean that she is a bad person. A tumblr user in one of the many reblogs said that Anne commented this post saying that now she wants the help of an editor. Even though I’ve checked the comment section of this fb post without finding this famous Anne’s comment, I want to believe that now she is working with an editor and I want to have faith in this. The point of this post was my will to express the disappointment towards Anne’s decision because this was the reason why this beautiful series got a lot of mistakes in the latest books. Stop. No bullying.
I would feel very bad if she starts to feel miserable reading us.
And yes, I know that her behavior towards the fandom (in the past) wasn’t good, but when I post something positive or negative that she has done, I want costructive criticism or a not-insulting sentence.

(If my english is bad, I’m sorry. I’m not a native speaker)

Today, July 4th 2017, would have been the day that Saffie-Rose Roussos, the youngest victim of the Manchester attack, would have turned 9. According to her father, her dream was to be a star, she wanted to be famous like Ariana. So I’d just like to say Happy Birthday Saffie, wherever you are, rest easy - and I ask you to reblog this and give a little girl her wish, and make her name known on her birthday.

I’m the owner of one, and I want to say this because I’m tired of seeing it specifically used against my people, but when you see news websites on twitter (especially) or any social network post something controversial to you, like saying “Kylie Kardashian created this new unique Hairstyle” and you know deep in your soul it was black people who created it, they do it on purpose. They purposely make that article title in that way (or any other title you know not to be true or you’ll be offended by), they do it purposely so people will catch wind of it and argue about it, make whole threads under it and it’ll make it to Black twitter to reach 10,000-100,000 RTs, hoping for a subtweet. Any one post with a link in it that reaches a minimum of 2000+ retweets that get people offended enough can reach can get earn that single post $500-$2000 in revenue for that one post, in fact if it makes it far enough one post can get someone as much as $5000, and news websites usually get no RTs at all like 10-80, so basically you give them their salary in one post. But of course the poster themselves aren’t ignorant to what they’re doing, and black twitter or even allies want to fight against it to prevent people from seeing a lie. so they make a post that wasn’t going to viral in the first place viral. Just here to say the best thing to do to fight that is simply instead of subtweeting/replying them is to take a screenshot whatever their post was, (and make whatever thread you want on your own account) and post it on your own account and make whatever comment you want about it, it’ll still get the 1000s of tweets it gets, but whoever posted it gets ZERO amount of money and still get ALL the hate. So if you know any twitter famous/any social network people who be subtweeting/replying controversial let them know

Edit:

my mans

they’re using ya’ll lmao, they’re not stupid. You think you’re putting them down and dragging them but this is plotted to finesse you, This is straight $1000s of dollars you given them, they’re not ignorant to it, they know. Trust me I use the same tactics for other (non-problematic) articles. Tell people you know to just screenshot, otherwise the sharing of the article places their links to be seen and clicked by 100s of thousands which brings unbelievable ad revenue to them.

On Oak’s Forced Leave

Hi friends. I know we’re all super pissed about Oak being asked to leave Great Comet to make room for Mandy Patinkin (I am too. Like I was looking forward to seeing him for months, and now I can’t) but I’m seeing a lot of posts on here that include some info that is just wrong, and wanted to clarify them. So here.

1.) Oak being dismissed had nothing to do with race. Let me explain, because I know that it 100% looks like it does, but it really doesn’t. Oak, while having a lot of fans in the Broadway community, is a total unknown outside of it. Mandy Patinkin is famous in film, television, and theatre (I mean, he was Inigo Montoya). While they are replacing a black actor with a white actor, that’s immaterial. What they’re really doing is replacing someone who won’t sell tickets (at least, extra tickets) with a celebrity who will (at premium prices). Is that better? Not really. But it’s an important distinction that a lot of people haven’t been making.

2.) He did not have “a week and a half” to sell tickets. I keep seeing this point, and it’s confused me greatly. Oak has been announced to take over Pierre since February. That was about five months ago. Any pre-sale that was going to happen would’ve already happened by now, and obviously same day sales weren’t good. They were expecting Oak to be a draw, but he wasn’t. Not Oak’s fault, but it’s just a fact.

3.) They’re not blaming Oak for not selling tickets. A continuation of the second point, no one is putting the success of the show on Oak’s shoulders (if anything, they’re putting it on Ingrid’s). However, they found someone who could make the show more successful, and he happens to be taking over Oak’s role. This does not mean that Oak was unsatisfactory in any way, shape, or form, and no one is trying to imply that.

4.) This is not the first time Great Comet has done this. Brittain Ashford was asked to go on vacation to make room for Ingrid Michaelson, for the exact same reason that Oak is ending his run early, and no one batted an eyelash. The only difference is that Brittain is coming back when Ingrid leaves, while most people in the business are pretty sure they have another celebrity lined up for Pierre, hence Mandy only performing for three weeks.

5.) He’s still getting paid. Just like Brittain, Oak is going to be fully compensated for the time he’s off. That doesn’t make things better, but please don’t think they’re just throwing him out on the street or something.

6.) What About Denée, Amber, Nick, Blaine, Azudi, Shoba, Paul, Summaya, Lulu, Andrew, Brandt, and Heath? If you’re wondering who those people are, they’re the other PoC in the cast of Great Comet, which has won multiple awards for its commitment to diversity this season. To further break those numbers down: four of them (Denée, Amber, Nick, and Paul) are in lead/supporting roles (out of a total of ten), one of which, Natasha, is the absolute archetype of “white Russian princess.” Not to mention that one of Natasha’s understudies, Shoba Narayan, is literally the only actress of Indian descent (that I know of) on Broadway right now. The Comet team has gone to great lengths to make their show as diverse as possible (they literally have their swings learn both “male” and “female” roles, and you can see same-sex couples at multiple points during the show, and it has a largely female creative team), and frankly it’s a little bit insulting to see people acting like Great Comet only casts PoC “when it’s convenient for them.”

7.) It was not Dave Malloy, Mandy Patinkin, or Rachel Chavkin’s fault this happened. I’ve seen people attacking Dave and Rachel for allowing Oak to be replaced, and Mandy himself for replacing him. Not okay. If you want to blame anyone, blame the producers. Dave and Rachel have literally no say beyond: “Yeah. We’d love Mandy to be in it. Not sure when, though.” and Mandy just gave them the times he was free between shooting the next season of Homeland, and it happened to be the last three weeks of Oak’s run.

8.) This is all about making money. Broadway shows aren’t cheap to run in general, but a show like Comet is an absolute beast. 30+ cast members, a huge band, a giant crew, etc. Their weekly running costs are probably somewhere in the range of 700k-800k a week. Since Josh left, they’ve been making ~900k a week, which is fine, if they want to be in debt for the next ten years. Comet had a huge amount of money put into it, and the people running it are definitely feeling pressure from investors to pay it back. This means they have to stick a celeb in every once in a while.

9.) I still don’t think it’s okay. This all being said, I think it was an absolutely shitty move on the producers’ part (they could’ve handled it a lot better) and am livid. (Though, I do have to admit I love Mandy Patinkin. I just wish he came at a different time.)  But while I’m angry, I think it’s important not to make this into something it’s not.

Okay. That’s all.

I believe Spencer’s twin is coming.

In this post I want to give a list of reasons why Twincer is my prime suspect as AD. I know a lot of these ‘clues’ come from interviews, but they’re still really convincing for me at least. I’ve definitely missed some of the clues from within the show because they’re not as easy to spot - we need to know for sure if Twincer is happening, then we can dig further. (The fun won’t instantly stop once the finale airs.) But for now, enjoy these, and at the end, I give my theory as to the motive.

Please note: none of this is overly new. This is just the summation of everything we’ve been talking about on my blog for the past couple months. I wanted to put all the ideas into one post, rather than 31529 mini posts scattered here and there. I will be updating this as we find more.

  1. The famous airport scene from 715.
We all already think it’s weird that "Spencer" asked Ezra to not tell anyone he saw her there with Wren. What’s weirder, is the fact that Wren and “Spencer” were arguing. Amongst muffle, I heard Spencer say "stop calling me that" (let me know if you heard differently). Did Wren have a slip-of-the-tongue moment and call her Spencer rather than the twin’s real name?
  2. Dr. Cochran’s story is very telling.
We all already know the ambiguous implication that Mary had more than two babies, because Dr. Cochran said he dealt with “two of Mary’s babies”. What’s more interesting is the second baby he dealt with. The first baby (Charlotte) he gave to Jessica. He said that the second baby that he delivered was placed in family county services. This could not have been Spencer, since Spencer was delivered to Veronica within 5 minutes of birth. So, who was that second baby that was placed in family services? I believe it was Spencer’s twin. Why? Dr Cochran referred to that second baby as “underweight but tenacious” - lo and behold, the next episode, Toby calls Spencer tenacious. This was the writers foreshadowing the similarities between this second baby, and Spencer. Twins.
  3. We all know Hanna’s ‘dream’ in 701.
It makes no sense that Hanna was able to dream ‘Spencer’ saying the name A.D. since Hanna was kidnapped before these initials were even revealed. Perhaps Hanna was visited by Twincer; the one holding her captive.
  4. A.D. needs to stand for something.
Spencer’s twin could literally have the initials A.D., since we know she would be Mary Drake’s child. Her first name would start with A and the D would stand for Drake.
  5. Brendan and Ian both confessed to being confused by the identity of A.D.
They needed the backstory to understand it. Is that because they had no idea who has the name “Alex Drake” (for example) ?
  6. Tyler said before 7B aired that “you’ve never met AD. You kind of have. You’ll know what I mean”.
This can be interpreted in two ways: you’ve never met Twincer but since you know Spencer, you kind of know who AD is. Or. You’ve seen Twincer over the years, but thought it was Spencer. Either way, Tyler’s comment screams twin-theory to me. This could apply to any twin theory, but in this context, I’m using it for Spencer.
  7. Ian said (0:57) that “fans will be satisfied to a point. Right when it seems it’s gonna be really great, it might do a little [downwards hand motion]”….
That cheeky smile on Ian’s face when he said “it seems it’s gonna be really great”… what could be greater than a liar being AD? Ian could be referring to the fact that they initially show us Troian under the hoodie, making us think Spencer is AD. Then, after commercial break, they will reveal it’s just her twin, hence the “it might do a little [downwards hand motion]”. We will be satisfied to a point, he said. It’ll start off amazing by thinking it’s Spencer, oh wait, it’s another twin.
  8. Ashley said (0:14) that she didn’t even know the A.D. reveal is possible.
Because she did not expect a second pair of twins to come along?
  9. “It’s like there are two of you living in this house. You, and you’re evil twin, and we’re not sure who’s coming down to breakfast".
said Veronica to Spencer in 423. Foreshadowing at it’s finest.
  10. Spencer doesn’t remember this flashback.
Was it her twin? And oh how coincidental, that the writers tell us a time Spencer doesn’t remember, in the same scene Veronica makes the above comment about Spencer’s “evil twin”.
  11. “Where are they?”
said Mary as she entered the Hastings house (flashback from 717). Who is they? The twins? She proceeded to say that Spencer is the only good thing she’s ever made. Maybe Mary knows Spencer’s twin is evil, and is neglecting her.
  12. “You look very much like your sister. Almost like twins”.
said Mary to Spencer in 701. The writers wanted us to think that Mary was talking about Spencer and Melissa, since Mary was holding a picture of the half-sisters. But, were the writers, and therefore Mary, hinting towards Twincer? Is Mary being blackmailed/forced (by Peter?) to keep quiet on Twincer, and she had a slip-of-the-tongue moment here?
  13. Marlene is very aware of the Twincer theories.
Back in 2014 she said that Troian sent her an online fan theory regarding Spencer having a twin who is A. Marlene was blown away by it and she thought it was a very well thought out plan with detailed evidence across the series. Watch from 1:35. Whilst you may be saying “there’s NO WAY Marlene spoilt her own show’s ending in an interview!!” - I feel like she had no idea the show would go on for 7 seasons, and once they got renewed, she panicked. “Shit, we need a new Uber A. Let’s go with that brilliant fan theory Troian sent me”. She probably regrets making this interview now. You can tell her passion for Twincer in this interview. She talks so damn highly of it.
  14. Marlene has said that the person who plays A.D. had known for a while.
We know that Marlene told Troian the entire ending of the show years in advance. “Just like I had story time with Marlene, you all now get story time with Pretty Little Liars” said Troian.
  15. The girl in the coffin in the opening has the exact same black puffy shirt as Spencer.
  16. Why does it seem that A.D. is always going after the Hastings?
Why shoot Spencer, out of all the liars? Why demand Aria to plant the audio device in the Hastings? Why not ruin the Marin household? The jealous twin wants her ungrateful sister dead, hence the shooting, and the jealous daughter is angry she never got adopted. Too much of the story is Hastings-oriented.
  17. “They’re all some pretty. Good. Theories.”
Was Janel’s response to being asked about the Spencer-twin theories. (22:20)
  18. And, I’ll just leave this here. Good one @prettylittlesessions !
  19. “Spencer’s” weird comments in 718.
In 718 “Spencer” says to Toby “you know what its like to be the outsider. Removed from friends and family”. What made her say this? Nothing was said or done in 718 to prompt our Spencer to say this.
  20. Keegan said there are no more Spoby kisses in 7B.
“I can honestly say that there is not another Spoby kiss.” Yet - there was one in 718. Either Keegan lied, or that was Spencer’s twin. (10:15)
  21. “It’s somebody you have seen.”
says Marlene in regards to who AD is. Was she talking about the Spoby kiss in 710, which Twincer referred to in 718 when she kissed Toby again? Marlene was very careful to avoid saying “it’s someone you KNOW”. We don't “know” Twincer. But, we have seen her.
  22. “That’s not the Spencer I know”
said Toby in 718. Writers are foreshadowing.

Setting all this aside, I want to add my theory on the backstory and motive:

  • Twincer, who’s name is A_____ Drake, was born in Radley, as Dr. Cochran told us in 7A.
  • Twincer was raised in Radley - not because she needed to be at a psychological hospital, but as a form of daycare, because Mary was deemed an unfit mother, and also she kept Twincer a secret from Peter… he already hated her (to the point of planning her murder, later on) enough for having one baby together, imagine Peter’s reaction to having twins.
  • There, Twincer met and bonded with her sister Charlotte. Charlotte became Twincer’s only friend. (Twincer might even be Bethany, since we already know of this bond between Bethany and Charlotte, and how Bethany was drawing Charles being taken away by a monster. But for this theory, let’s just forget Bethany for a second.)
  • When Mona came to Radley and started telling Charlotte about everything she did to her sister, Charlotte and Twincer wanted to play. They wanted a turn at harassing Spencer and her friends.
  • For Charlotte, as we know, it was the feeling of finally succeeding at something in life that made the game her drug. For Twincer, it was something far darker.
  • Harassing Aria, Hanna, Emily and Alison is all about driving a wedge between the girls. Twincer wants to break up the girls. Turn them against each other. Hopefully by throwing fire at the girls, they will break up, ultimately, to ruin Spencer’s life. Again, jealousy. Twincer’s plan is backfiring because it’s exactly A’s threats that makes Spencer say “we need each other more than ever” and “always stick together”. The writers keep making the point of SPENCER being the one to make the comments about “always” sticking together. Twincer cannot break Spencer and her bitches. This is fueling Twincer’s anger. Nothing is working.
  • That’s why AD/Twincer recently shot Spencer. “If I can’t break the girls up to ruin Spencer’s life, why not just become Spencer?” Twincer shot Spencer in an attempt to assume her identity and squeeze her way into the loving friendship group that she could never crack. “These girls are so loyal to each other… they don’t even break up after even my threats. Damn, I want to be a part of this. It’s my turn to live a happy life. You had your turn Spencer.”
  • Note: I do not believe that AD has been operating since season 1. Mona’s time as A is completely independent from Charlotte and Twincer’s story. Mona started the game, and now someone is ending it, and she wants to know who. Charlotte and Twincer are their own duo; their own A-team, which stemmed as a result of Mona coming to Radley. Charlotte revealed herself - next up in the A team is Twincer, who is carrying on the game she once played with her sister.

Kirby animations of many famous games (not them all)

I already posted some back on Tumblr but wanted to make a video with this theme I love so much, Gourmet race!

Hope you will like it ^^

Huge thanks to Masahiro Sakurai for creating such an amazing character!

… Would be so happy if I could choose my OWN preview image instead of having a random frame selected, the animation is not about a mirror on the floor, no worries ;)

Yuri on Ice interview translation - CREA 2017/03 (p34-35)

Second part of the YOI interviews featured on CREA. As for the one with Kubo, more than “interviews” they are like “mini articles” that incorporate what the interviewed people said. The interviews are with Kenji Miyamoto (choreographer), Eiji Abiko & Junpei Tatenaka (figure skating animators), Yuuko Sagiri (original costume designer), Keisuke Tominaga (music producer).

Random note: thanks to this magazine I was finally able to know that Sagiri’s name is “Yuuko”. When I translated her interview on Pash I did lots of research but wasn’t able to find out the pronunciation so I used Yuiko because that was what came out searching for the name alone, but now it’s confirmed that it’s Yuuko so as soon as I have time I’ll edit that interview to fix it. I swear all magazines should be obliged to provide the pronunciation of names, because sometimes it’s really hard to find out how the kanji are pronounced when it’s not famous people with Wikipedia pages and such…

By the way, the issue of Pash coming out today (Feb. 10th) has an article I was really looking forward to (the second part of Kubo’s detailed commentary on each episode), so I’ll probably spend the night translating it when I get home from work. Also because I want to post it before the YOI all night event on Saturday (I’m going to the live viewing).

***If you wish to share this translation please do it by reblogging or posting a link to it***

***Re-translating into other languages is ok but please mention that this post is the source***

The reality as expressed by 5 people who created “Yuri on Ice”

Reality #2: Choreography x Kenji Miyamoto
“The footage taken with the camcorder was the key to create realistic and powerful anime scenes”

Profile: From Hyogo prefecture. After retiring from competitive ice dance in 2006 he started working as a choreographer and commentator. With director Sayo Yamamoto’s “ENDLESS NIGHT” for the first time he was involved in creating figure skating choreographies for an anime.

The choreographies for all characters’ programs were created by choreographer Kenji Miyamoto. He created them integrating the music with the information he received from director Yamamoto and Kubo regarding the characters and their programs. What was different than usual is that the songs for the FS were 4 minutes long instead of 4:30 minutes.
“In the anime characters need less strokes to speed up, so it’s possible to use less ‘transitions’, the movements connecting different techniques. I cut down on those and made the programs more compact.”
Miyamoto was filmed with 4 fixed cameras and 2 portable camcorders as he danced all the programs, then the footage was edited into a multiframe video based on which the animated figure skating scenes were created.
“I believe that the footage taken with the portable camcorder, that filmed me up close, is what made it possible to create realistic and powerful tournament scenes.”
After watching the finished anime, Miyamoto commented that the characters’ monologues during their performances are realistic.
“When you are performing lots of things are whirling around inside your head. In my case it wasn’t words but still pictures, like photographs. I was happy that they expressed the athletes’ feelings.”

Reality #3: Animation x Junpei Tatenaka & Eiji Abiko
“The performances look realistic thanks to Miyamoto-sensei’s choreographies”

Profile: Animators working for the anime production company MAPPA. Specialized in sports and action scenes. They both created animation for director Sayo Yamamoto’s “ENDLESS NIGHT”.

Animation of the figure skating scenes was created by action specialists Junpei Tatenaka and Eiji Abiko. “It’s the first time that we digitally create 2D pictures after deciding the camerawork. It was very difficult because we had to figure out how to do everything”.
Tatenaka, who was already a fan of figure skating, says: “For the moments I believed to be the ‘highlights’ of a performance I would add 1-2 extra stills. This way, I was able to draw out a little what in the live footage only lasted an instant.” They actually made jumps much higher than they are in real life.
“While being aware that real skaters wouldn’t jump that high, I still wanted the scenes to be striking, therefore I was always looking for a good balance between realism and what could be allowed in animation.” (Abiko)
They both agree that Miyamoto’s choreography footage was the most important factor that allowed them to create realistic performance scenes.
“When there was a key point in the music, Miyamoto-sensei would pose with all of his body creating a beautiful line, from his fingertips to the tips of his toes. It was very easy to draw.” (Tatenaka)

Reality #4: Costumes x Yuuko Sagiri
“I think the only difference is that there were no budget restrictions (LOL)”

Profile: Ballroom dancing costume designer working for the ballet & dance supplies maker Chacott. She has designed figure skating costumes for athletes such as Nobunari Oda and Akiko Suzuki.

Yuuko Sagiri, designer of the athletes’ costumes, created the designs giving importance to functionality that would improve a skater’s performance and to elements that would make the character’s personality stand out, just like she does for real costumes. She chose materials, cuttings and decorations that would actually be employed in costumes used for real performances.
“Normally I objectively watch an athlete’s past performances to understand their level and what kind of movements they are skilled at, and this is then reflected in the design. This time I based the design on the characters’ setting materials, the information I received from the director and the choreography footage by Miyamoto-sensei. I think the only difference is that there were no budget restrictions (LOL).”
Regarding Yuuri’s costume, she mentions that she wanted to reflect the fact that he is psychologically weak and gains weight easily.
“I added shining decorations on his chest so that his face would look bright even when he is tense. The cuts on the waist are to make him look slim.”
Actually, she also designed a costume for Yurio’s exhibition. Sagiri said that she created the design thinking of what “Yurio would really want to wear”. We’d definitely like to see him skate with that costume!

Reality #5: Music x Keisuke Tominaga
“I added melody to the beautiful lyrics that is ‘Yuri on Ice’”

Profile: From Kanagawa prefecture. Music producer. He founded PIANO INC. in 2012 and is the current representative director. His main works include the Pocari Sweat 2016 commercial “Kimi no Yume wa, Boku no Yume.”, the TV anime “Zankyou no Terror”, etc.

When creating the music for this show, music producer Keisuke Tominaga constantly asked himself whether it was music you could dance to.
“I would move my hands, feet, my whole body, sometimes even checking the rhythm like a conductor or a dancer. Figure skating has many elements that resemble ballet, so to express the elegant movements of the body I used many tunes in triple time like waltz and bolero.”
Most of the classical and orchestra tracks were created by Taku Matsushiba, while the vocal tracks and modern band songs by Tarou Umebayashi. They worked on the music as a team, always communicating with each other.
“The world created by Kubo-san and director Yamamoto was like realistic and beautiful ‘lyrics’, and I feel that our role was to create a ‘melody’ for those lyrics. In fact, when I joined together Yuuri’s FS song “Yuri on ICE” and Victor’s recorded voice for the first time, the lines sounded just like the words of a song, and I can’t describe how moved I was. I believe that this strong, deep expression that you would not be able to obtain with music alone is what realistically affects the viewers.”

Bonus in case you haven’t seen it already: Sagiri’s design for Yurio’s exhibition program.

Avengers tumblr fandom circa 2012

Don’t judge, but I’ve been thinking back fondly a lot lately about the epic bounty of old memes and trends we had back in the day. A guide for those followers of mine who weren’t around yet, or a Throwback Friday for those of you who were, remember:

  • The Avengers gag reel
  • “COULSOOOOON NAAAAAUUUUUUUU”
  • Assvengers
  • Seriously the equal-opportunities fanservice and fixation on butts was a thing to behold
  • “Caw caw motherfucker”
  • Okay there were a lot of Hawkeye-bird jokes (this was before we met Sam Wilson) but that was probably the biggest one
  • Renner Stretches
  • The Hawkeye Initiative
  • “That’s my secret, Cap. I’m always angry.”
  • Thor loves Pop Tarts
  • “This _____, I like it! ANOTHER!
  • SCIENCE BROS
  • Major ships: Stony, Clintasha, Thorki (aka Thunderfrost which, lbr, is the arguably the most badass ship name ever), Frostiron, Capsicoul
  • Also a LOT of people shipped Coulson and Hawkeye even though I don’t even remember them having screentime together? I’ve seen that ship referred to as Phlint like…once, but not at the time.
  • Chris Evans and his ridiculous shoulder-to-hip ratio
  • Left-boob grab (this one might actually still be a thing)
  • “I recognize the counsel has made a decision. But given that it’s a stupid-ass decision, I’ve elected to ignore it!” (this one I KNOW is still a thing)
  • “I understood that reference”
  • Crying forever over that deleted sequence of Steve learning that All My Friends Are Dead But Oh Hey Peggy’s Still Alive But I’m Too Afraid to Call Her and then going through the city being Forever Alone
  • The Superfamily AU where Steve and Tony raised a smol Peter Parker
  • Lokimania
  • holy
  • fucking
  • shit
  • I could probably make a separate post just for that but here goes
  • That famous Twitter convo where Tom Hiddleston and a Loki RPer were challenging each other and popularized “I DO WHAT I WANT”
  • I think like half his actual lines in the movie became memes on some level actually
  • “KNEEEEEEL”
  • “I am burdened with glorious purpose” and its many MANY remixes
  • “Tom sits like a whore” (aka what we called manspreading before that became A Problem)
  • L O K I ‘ D
  • The Loki’d Outtakes
  • Loki’d 2: The Return of Steve (like actually this was a real thing that happened)
  • Wendy
  • People coming together to make a fan book about Wendy for Tom’s birthday
  • That one picture of Tom in full Loki getup while holding Mjolnir and Cap’s shield
  • Loki and the Loon, the webcomic about Loki and Tom being roommates that spawned similar blogs for EVERY Avenger rooming with their actor. Almost none of them actually went anywhere, but the original Loki and the Loon was pretty great.
  • For real though, I’ve never seen any fandom obsession with an actor reach quite the fever pitch that we had with Tom Hiddleston, my god. Bendytoots probably came close though (this was before Ben’s Fall From Tumblr Grace. Tom is still well-regarded, but I think that part of the fandom has finally chilled out).
  • And lest we forget:
  • Tom in-character as Loki for SDCC (okay I’m pretty sure this one was later than 2012 but it was still a big fuckin deal when it happened)
  • SAAAYYY MYYY NAAAAAME!!!

here’s a link to the playlist. u can thank me later.

(Context: Our team of six people entered a foresty area, hoping to find something. There were sticks that we kept picking up, and one was nearly the size of a log that was inside of a tree. We took it out of it’s hole, which was pretty decently sized.)

Alkarus (me): “I want to stick my dick in there.”

Zannerios (OOC): “Uh me as well.”

Bulung (OOC): “ME TOO!”

DM: “All of you can roll to see if we’ll be able to.”

*All of us roll and we all are able. Our characters mush their dicks into the hole. They all fit.*

DM: “When you all take your dicks out of the tree, though, it turns out it was a Awakened Tree. It starts to attack you while your dicks are still out.”

Alkarus: “FUCK”

Yuri on Ice interview translation - Animage 2017/01 (p20-23)

I was going to post this last week but gave priority to the BD stuff. This will be the final interview from the booklet that came with January Animage! There’s still an interview with Kenji Miyamoto left untranslated, but it will be taken care of by @whiteboxgems whenever she has time! I’ll reblog it when it’s around.

This is actually 2 interviews, I’m posting them together because they were one after the other and (main reason) because the second one is very short.
A few notes below to better understand the interviews.

The first one is with Yuuichirou Hayashi, the one who created the ending (ED = ending by the way) footage. I have the feeling someone previously posted translations of the captions under the ED screenshots, but I don’t remember where and I’m pretty sure it was just the captions and not the interview parts, so here you have it complete. This one is pretty interesting because he explains in detail how they created the ED, and has some extra information on cut scenes etc. Definitely a must read in my opinion!

The second one is a short interview with Kayoko Ishikawa, the one who did the costume designs. Here you might think: didn’t Chacott design the costumes? I’ll explain. It’s more or less like with Mitsurou Kubo and Tadashi Hiramatsu: Kubo created the original designs for the characters, from scratch, and Hiramatsu transformed them into designs specifically created for animation, therefore with simpler lines, detailed expression sheets and so on. Likewise, Chacott did the original designs for the costumes, from scratch, based on the indications by Yamamoto and Kubo, and then the anime’s costume designer simplified and modified them so that they would be suitable to be animated. (Before actually animating them there’s a further step: the anime’s color designer is going to decide the exact colors, shadows and highlights included, that will be used inside the anime. I translated an interview with the color designer Izumi Hirose some time ago)

I usually don’t add pictures but this time I felt that it would be better to add them as an immediate reference. However, they are just for reference and are not meant to be visually stunning, so please bear with the quality because I just took photos of the magazine with my phone and quickly edited them.

Translation under the cut! (kind of image-heavy)

Scooby-Doo and the Ghoul School

Scooby-Doo and the Ghoul School follows Shaggy, Scooby, and Scrappy as they answer a job posting for a new P.E. teacher at Miss Grimwood’s Finishing School for Girls. Once they arrive, they find that it is inhabited by the daughters of famous monsters—and under threat by the evil Revolta.

This is without a doubt my absolute favorite of any Scooby-Doo special. Someone was definitely taking notes from this film when they got around to creating Monster High, because that’s how this movie functioned for me when I was a kid. Monster girls! Everything I wanted to be! In case you were wondering, Phantasma was my favorite.
