Exes and Misunderstandings
Second part! Not editted, kind of sucks. Thanks anon for the idea!
It’s been a few days since the little spat with his parents over Y/N’s age and he would be lying if he said that things weren’t awkward. His mom would make little jabs here anther about the age difference, his sister also showed her concern over her brother’s new girlfriend.
But the one thing that hasn’t been brought up since that night is the fact that Nathan is planning to propose to Y/N. His mom is in total denial that her youngest son is planning on spending the rest of his life with a teenager. She is pretending that she’s just a fling and one of them will get enough sense that this relationship won’t work out. But in the meantime, the Adrian’s have been nice and friendly towards the young girl.
Y/N is currently in the kitchen helping Nathan’s mother prepare food for the little get together that she’s hosting. The women are talking about food and his mother learns that Y/N loves to cook, especially for Nathan. Celia can’t help but smile and think that maybe her son’s young girlfriend won’t be that bad of a wife. She seems to love Nathan and despite the tension in the family, she has been nothing but polite. For the first time since Nathan brought Y/N home, Celia is beginning to accept the relationship.
However, their chatter ceases when there’s a knock on the door. Celia yells for Nathan, who is in the living room watching a Seahawks preseason game with his dad to answer the door. Nathan trudges over to the door and when he opens the heavy wood, his ex girlfriend is revealed.
The carmel colored beauty smiles and gives the 6’7 giant a massive hug. Nathan is taken aback at the gesture but wraps his arms around her. “It’s good to see you, Nathan.” Leah says. Nathan smiles “You too.”
Nathan then leads his ex into the kitchen where his mother, sister, sister-in-law, and girlfriend are all in. Leah goes around to greet and hug everybody and Y/N can’t help but feel a little out of place.
Soon as she stepped ingot eh room Y/N knew that she was his ex girlfriend. Y/N figured she would be pretty, but she didn’t know how drop dead gorgeous Nathan’s ex was. Why would Nathan break up with her? She thinks to herself. Y/N’s pulled out of her thoughts when she hears Nathan clear his throat behind her. She looks up and he is looking down at her with an expression that says “don’t worry, she’s nothing compared to you” But Y/N can’t help but worry.
Nathan wraps his arms around his girlfriend’s waist and kisses her neck whispering, “I love you” in her ear. Y/N giggles and tries to squirm out of his embrace when she hears Leah’s giggle.
“You must be Y/N, Nathan’s girlfriend,” Leah greets, offering her hand for Y/N to shake. “I’m Leah. Nathan’s friend” Y/N shakes her hand and wonders if they were still friends. Why wouldn’t she introduce herself as “A childhood friend” or “Old friend of Nathan’s?” Do they still talk? How did she know her name? Did she still have feelings for Nathan? Did he still have feelings for her? These questions ate Y/N alive the rest of the day.
As the party went on, Y/N tried to ignore this awful feeling she had in her gut but she couldn’t. She tried to busy herself by playing with Nathan’s nieces and nephew’s, but that didn’t help. She needed to talk to her boyfriend and see what exactly happened between him and Leah. The current state of their relationship, and why his family were still close with her.
She looked around the backyard and couldn’t spot her boyfriend. She asked his nephew Max if he had seen where his uncle went off to and Max shook his head and continued playing with his toy. Y/N sighed, and got up off the ground to look for him in the house.
Nathan was sitting in a chair at the other end of the yard, admiring how the love of his life interacted with his nieces and nephews. He couldn’t wait to have children with her and watch her love and dote them. His thoughts were cut off however when he felt someone sit in the empty chair next to his.
“I can’t believe you’re an uncle.” Leah laughs softly. Nathan looks over at her and smiles. “Yeah, they’re pretty great. I love them. Don’t get to see them as often as I would like though.” He says softly.
Leah gives him a sympathetic look. “You know you’re going to make a great dad one day. Y/N is lucky.” Nathan gives her confused look. ‘She must think that Y/N is pregnant’ he thinks to himself. “Y/N isn’t pregnant, if that’s what you’re thinking.”
Leah chuckles. “I wasn’t thinking that. Listen, let’s go in the house. We need to talk in private.” Nathan agrees and follows his high school sweetheart into the house. The pair find a quiet place where they can talk in peace.
“I wanted to talk you about Y/N.” Leah says to her ex boyfriend. Nathan grows defensive at her words and can’t believe that she’s trying to meddle her way back into his life. “Leah, if you want to get back together, it’s not happening. I’m over you and you should be over me too.” He says kind of harshly.
Leah rolls her chocolate eyes. “Nathan, I’m pregnant. I’m in a happy relationship. I wanted to tell you that I support your relationship. I know you family is a little iffy about it. I wanted to let you know that I think she’s wonderful and perfect for you.” Nathan can’t help but smile.
“You’re pregnant? That’s wonderful!” He said hugging the brown girl. “I just found out. I’m three months along.” Leah beams. “I actually have something to tell you too.” He said to Leah. Leah nods her head in encouragement for him to tell her what he needed to.
He reaches into his pocket and pulls out a giant diamond ring. Leah gasps at the square cut diamond and takes it into her hands to inspect it. “Nathan, it’s absolutely beautiful.” However before Leah could continue saying how much Y/N was going to love it, they hear a door upstairs slam shut.
Nathan jumps, and realization hits him that Y/N must’ve heard and seen the exchange. “Shit” He mumbles and bolts upstairs where he finds a hysteric Y/N throwing all of her clothes into a suitcase.
“You got her pregnant and propose to her? While you young, naive girlfriend is here?” The young girl shouts, completely heartbroken.
