i tried to add at least one quote from each character

Oh, sleepovers. Nothing is better than spending a night with your bestfriends overdosing on junk food, laying around in your most comfortable and embarrassing pajamas and watching five movies in a row. Sleepovers can either be extremely relaxing or hard to recover from, but they are so funny and irreplaceable that I personally think there should be an international Sleepover Night.

Movies, obviously, are a must-be according to the Sleepover Bible (made up by me right now), but sometimes it can be hard to choose what to watch. I guess one of the best ways to decide is having a marathon or establishing a theme: you can watch the whole Harry Potter/Pirates of the Caribbean/Star Wars saga, go for a tv series like Friends or Grey’s Anatomy or follow a fil rouge that links together a few films.

What I’m proposing you today is one of my favourite themes: teen movies from 1990 to 2000. Beside being extremely funny and unmissable if you are a movie amateur, they definitely left a mark in the filmmaking history, defining a generation not so far in time from ours. They can also teach you something about style or pop culture, so you have no excuses left not to watch them!

People worshipped them and cursed them, but everybody wanted to be them .

In Jawbreaker you have all the ingredients for a classic teen movie: a high school, a popular and mean clique of Queen Bees, a kind-hearted girl loved by everyone, a prom, hot guys - with the only exception that this is not a classic teen movie.

Jawbreaker is a dark comedy and (surprise!) it involves a kidnapping, a death and police investigations. Written and directed by David Stein, the movie revolves around the “Flawless Four” of Reagan High School, Los Angeles:  Courtney Shayne, Marcie Fox, Julie Freeman and Elizabeth Purr. They all rule the school with a terror regime, except for Liz. She is not as mean as her friends and makes no differences in relating with others - her beauty and honesty, then, make her the most loved and admired girl.

Obviously, this generates jealousy in Courtney, Marcie and Julie, who decide to prank their friend on seventeenth birthday, by performing a fake kidnapping. They take her off guard early in the morning, binding her with ropes and pushing a jawbreaker candy into her mouth. The girls lock Elizabeth in the trunk of a car and drive towards the mall to celebrate their friend’s brithday with breakfast. However, once they open the trunk, the sight is definitely not what they expected it to be…

Jawbreaker is worth watching not only for the twisted, surprising plot and the iconic (and definitely realistic) language used by the girls, but also because it explores the dynamics of a group of girls with the voice of an outsider, Fern Mayo, who finds herself involved in the events against her will. This movie is gonna make you laugh, startle and maybe regret not living in 1999.

Cruel Intentions (1999)

In the game of seduction there’s only one rule: never fall in love.

Drugs, sex, a hot step-brother, games of seduction, classy and total black outfits, rich mansions. If you like this list, Cruel Intentions is the perfect movie for you. Beside having an incredibly attractive cast, a young Reese Witherspoon included, its plot twists the usual “mean clique” dynamics.

Set in a wealthy Manhattan, the film is about an oddly assorted couple: Sebastian Valmont and his step-sister Kathryn Merteuil. He’s well known for his countless sexual conquers and seductive manners, which perfectly match Kathryn’s inner wickedness and malice - but they always both manage to get away with it thanks to their fascinating looks and charming attitudes.

The tight relationship between the two not only sees them accomplices in many misdeeds, but also gives rise to explicit sexual innuendos, as Sebastian’s not-so-secret fantasy is to sleep with Kathryn. Despite wishing the same, the girl likes to play it hard to get, so she decides to set up a bet: if Sebastian will be able to seduce Annette Hargrove, Kathryn will have sex with him - otherwise, she’ll get his vintage Jaguar. It’s not as easy as it seems: Annette is the daughter of their school’s headmaster and has recently written an article on saving her virginity for marriage.

As the time goes by and the relationship with Annette develops, Sebastian will find his controversial morals hardly tested. He’ll also have to manage the seduction of the young and naive Cecile, the new girlfriend of Kathryn’s ex, and he’ll be soon torn between his usual lifestyle and a wager maybe too hard to win, even for his unbeaten ego.

Cruel Intentions is weird, explicit, somehow shocking. It points out the differences between boys and girls as it comes to sex, providing a few interesting reflections under a chic, witty and dark atmosphere. Kathryn’s outfits are ICONIC and the movie will make you want more - and you’re lucky, because there are a prequel and a sequel.

Clueless (1995)

Dear diary, I’m more fabulous than five minutes ago.

I don’t even know how to start with this and if you’ve never seen Clueless before… oh my gosh, you can’t imagine what you’ve missed. This movie is p-e-r-f-e-c-t!

Yes, we have a Queen Bee, Cher, with her sidekick Dionne. And yes, she’s vain and superficial. But she is funny, gorgeous, good natured, harmless and extremely relatable. You could easily make any quote from her character yours, really. She’s crazy wealthy and lives in a mansion in Beverly Hills, obviously being the most popular girl at school.

The movie explores Cher’s life and her attempts at making “good deeds”, showing how her attitude is more innocent than biased. She decides to give Tai Frasier, a “tragically unhip” girl, a makeover aimed at initiating her into the popular universe of their high school; she tries to act as cupid and match two professors (also to raise her grades); all of this, just for the sake of “giving back to the community”.

Cher’s hilarious adventures continue as she finds herself facing a new, attractive boy at school, her annoying stepbrother, the driving license exam and other teenage things we’ve all been through. I loved this movie because she’s fierce and self confident in a positive way, for once - and I won’t even mention the outfits of almost every character, which I’ve seen more than once reinterpreted in the latest collections of many fashion brands. And let me add that Alicia Silverstone’s facial expressions are the best thing in the world… In a few words: watch it. You won’t absolutely regret it.

The Craft (1996)

“You girls watch out for those weirdos” - “We are the weirdos, mister”

Everyone loves a bit of magic. Candles, chanting odd words, summoning the supernatural, meeting in the middle of the night - all things you probably don’t do but that still sound fascinating and attractive, especially if you are a young girl with a mysterious past in a new school where you know no one.

This is how it goes for Sarah Bailey once she arrives to the catholic academy of St. Benedict, Los Angeles. A group of outcasts, with difficult, gloomy lives and rumored to be practicing witchcraft, notices that Sarah is not as normal as she seems, thus luring her into joining their coven. The powers of the four girls reach a whole new level as they try to fix their messy lives and make up for any wrong that had been unfairly done to them.

However, nothing is easy when it comes to unearthly powers - the group will face difficult personal struggles and they will soon understand that everything comes with a price.

This thriller will open your eyes on the hard life of social rejects in a surreal way, making you think twice before exposing someone not as lucky as you - you never know what may be their revenge. I loved The Craft because it explores a different side of the world depicted in the movies listed above - it gives voice to the unheard and shows things from a different point of view.

10 Things I Hate About You (1999)

But mostly, I hate the way I don’t hate you, not even close.

Sisters can be so different. Take Bianca and Kat Stratford, for example. One is popular, beautiful, admired and elegant, the other is a smart, casual, ironic bookworm. Cameron James (and adorable Joseph Gordon-Levitt) is head over heels for Bianca as soon as he sees her, but he’s warned by a friend that the girl’s father doesn’t allow her to date anyone. This doesn’t only upset Cameron, but Bianca as well - that’s why before the prom she quarrels with her dad until he agrees on letting her go at one condition: Kat has to find a boyfriend and go to the prom, too, causing Bianca to become furious since her sister will never want to be with someone.

Cameron finds out about the new rule and decides to find a boy who will date Kat, so then he’ll be able to go out with Bianca. The mission seems impossible, but of course we have Heath Ledger, in the role of Patrick Verona, who once again becomes the hero and (obviously with a heavy salary) agrees on trying.

Will the mission stay professional? Will Kat resist to Patrick’s charm or will she be trapped by the good-looking outcast as bitter as she is? Will Bianca go to prom with Cameron? You need to watch the movie to find out. This is one of my favourite ones, I’ve seen it at least three times and it’s just great - I always like watching the development of a romantic relationship, because each one is different from the other. And the singing scene on the bleachers? Iconic.

Romeo + Juliet (1996) - trailer

If love be rough with you, be rough with love.

Do I even have to say something?? I mean, Leo DiCaprio, Shakespeare’s most known masterpiece, love and death, Baz Luhrmann. This is enough, isn’t it?

Romeo + Juliet is the modernized and adapted version of the famous, tragic love story. It’s visionary, surreal, heartbreaking and it should be seen at least once a week because it’s just too much. It is set in a imaginary Verona Beach, where the adventures and deeds of two families in war intertwine with the forbidden love affair of a young boy and girl. The plot follows Shakespeare’s script, but you won’t find swords or horses. Guns and sportscars, gas stations and a swimming pool are just a few of the innovative twists Luhrmann has used in this dreamy and loud film.

You Teach Them How to Draw/Paint (RFA + V & Vanderwood)

The last one got really popular, so here’s a sequel!

▪he can’t see, obviously, but you came up with a solution!
▪finger painting with different textures of paint!
▪You mix some things into paint and then added different objects that’d give it different textures
▪this precious boy is so excited
▪you pull the smock over his head, a plain white t-shirt with paint speckles all over the front and sleeves and hand him a bowl of warm water to wash his hands in
▪you take V’s hand and touch each of his fingers to the paints (some gritty, glittery, smooth, clumpy, anything you could do to make them different from one another) and tell him which of the paints are which colors
▪he immediately goes to work smearing the paint on the canvas almost expertly, taking great care into this painting
▪V gets some red paint in his hair and there’s a smear of yellow glitter on his cheek but his smile is so wide and pure that you just m e l t
▪forgets about the paint on his hands and kisses you
▪your faces are bright yellow and fuscia and that’s the day V seriously considers getting the surgery
▪kind of pains him hearing you so ecstatic and knowing the lengths you’re going through to make him comfortable and happy
▪"MC…you’re so beautiful"
▪he insists the two of you take a selfie to immortalize the moment forever what a cheeseball I love him so much but he doesn’t tell you that when he does get the surgery, he wants to see what you looked like today
▪finally, he adds a signature: the letter V in braille
▪it’s a clunky, glittery mess but you hang it right in the living room where you can see it all the time!

▪dis boy ain’t got time for this
▪he takes the pencil and draws a lovely picture of a middle finger, titling it: “To 707”
▪707 finds it and pretends to be really touched, even goes as far to print out seven hundred and seven copies, and then proceeding to tape them all up on his wall

▪he doesn’t want to learn
▪he wants to model
▪"Draw me like one of your Korean guys, MC"
▪poses provocatively on the sofa and even tries his pose from Promiscuous Jalapeño
Zen pls keep this PG-13
▪Remember that Brandon Rogers quote? “This is my hippity house I like to do a lot of fun and creative poses here”
▪yeah that’s Zen
▪when you do sit him down and tell him to draw YOU instead, he nearly panics
▪turns out his behaivor was just a front
▪he’s not good at drawing and doesn’t want to disappoint you
▪tries his best and when it doesn’t come out quite right, he erases your face and draws a funnier one on to make you laugh

▪when he asked you to teach him, you were expecting him to want to draw an LOLOL character
▪so honestly, you were shocked when he pulled out his phone and snapped a quick pic of you
▪you give him guidelines and things that’ll help him
▪he pulls his bangs back and sticks his pencil between his teeth, scrunching his face up as he studies the drawing
▪something isn’t quite right about it…
▪he tried, at least!
▪he’s really proud of it (and tbh it’s really cute, just also really messed up)

▪Jaehee looooves watercolor painting
▪she has a few books of famous watercolor painters so when you offer to teach her, she’s beside herself
▪"Really? You’d teach me?“
Jaehee I’d eat my own foot if you asked me to
▪tries to paint a watercolor painting with different kinds of coffee and it actually looks pretty good, especially since painting with coffee is kind of hard!
▪her painting is almost as good as yours
▪You’re lowkey jealous since it was her first time but Jaehee was so excited that you let it slide
▪she hangs up her paintings in the coffee shop and her face lights up everytime she passes by them
▪paints Zen a few times
▪but when Jumin asks her to paint a picture of Elizabeth 3rd, she declines faster than Seven consuming a bag of Honey Buddha chips ▪literally lives for the days the two of you sit down at the table and open up all of the windows to paint
▪she thinks that you’re a whole different kind of beautiful when you’re focused, sunlight streaming through and bouncing off of your hair and eyes
▪she actually tells you one day though
▪you were surprised when she leaned over and brushed your hair behind your ears, telling you how pretty you were and how your eyes looked translucent in the pretty light
god Baehee makes me so gayhee

▪you suggest oil painting!
▪he has the best paint, canvases, and easels imported from God knows where just for this
▪how did you even get them here so quick??
“I have my ways, MC”
▪…you mean money.
▪chooses to paint a picture of a landscape
▪Wait, no Elizabeth?
▪"Am I not allowed to have other interests besides Elizabeth 3rd?“
▪the two of you step out for a moment, and that’s when Elizabeth decides to take revenge on Jumin
▪you come back to a green and brown cat, and have to chase her all over the penthouse to give her a bath
▪the painting actually turns out really nice, he doesn’t even wear a smock and manages to stay pristine the entire time
▪however, he does keep Elizabeth’s paw print on the painting, and insists she helped him with it

▪actually begs you to teach him
▪you finally agree and sit him down, pulling out a kit of acrylic paints and a pad of artist’s paper
▪he, for once, looks really happy
▪when you ask him what he’s painting and try to look, he shies away
▪"I-it’s a secret, baka!“
▪"if you must know, it’s a picture of my one true love! She’s beautiful, sweet, makes me happier than anyone in the world….”
▪You’re suddenly really happy
▪Elizabeth 3rd is a cat so she can’t like memes, so he must mean you!
▪*Donald Trump voice* wrooooong
▪turns the picture around
▪it’s a freaking painting of himself kissing a bag of Honey Buddha chips

From Top to (Cauldron) Bottom

Pairing: Pansy Parkinson x Percy Weasley

Words: 1529

Summary: Somehow, she finds herself in a secluded alcove listening to Weasley prattle on about cauldron bottoms, of all things, but worst of all, she thinks she might be enjoying it.

A/N: Other titles I considered for this fic include: “(Cauldron) Bottoms Up”, “A (Cauldron) Bottom Full of Hot Strong Love”, “Started from the (Cauldron) Bottom Now We Here”

Read it on AO3 here: http://archiveofourown.org/works/11551263

They meet at a ministry function at which Percy Weasley is uncharacteristically drunk.

Well, to be fair, at the start of the night he’s as stuffy and impossibly proper as she remembers, but between the free-flowing wine at dinner and the rather excessive amount of brandy in the dessert and the champagne the minister had insisted on toasting with, Percy is a tad flushed and just the tiniest bit dishevelled, red curls falling over his eyes on one side and tie slightly askew.

She has no idea how they ended up sitting next to each other, but between her mother’s careful social calls to her ministry contacts – which she’s sure have taken the form of at least one large “anonymous donation”-  and Weasley’s job as assistant to the Head of the Department of International Magical Cooperation, they’ve ended up at a table with six extraordinarily dull but undoubtedly important young ministry employees. She has absolutely zero interest in the controversial new broomstick legislation or Hermione Granger’s absurd house-elf charity – which has somehow received support from the Minister himself – but she also knows, with her father in Azkaban and her own reputation rather badly tarnished - that she’s in desperate need of a fresh start.

So she fakes interest, and nods politely, and sips her wine, and pretends not to notice the fact that she’s had eyes on her all night, and she knows it’s not just because her dress is doing truly incredible things for her cleavage. She tactfully ignores the way two of the ministry employees glance sidelong at each other when she sits down, or the way the rest of them have either summarily ignored her or leaned forward with inane questions that are clearly a horribly transparent excuse to stare at her chest.

The self-important idiots don’t seem to realize that she’s already let go of her prejudices – the important ones anyway, she’s not above thinking she’s better than Granger simply because of that awful bushy hair. But from the vicious “character pieces” that vile cow Skeeter still publishes in the Prophet and the thinly veiled but unmistakably cool reception she’s been receiving all night, it’s clear that the rest of the wizarding world isn’t necessarily ready to do the same.

So she’s taken aback the first time Percy Weasley turns to engage her in conversation. He’s stiff as a board but perfectly polite, blue eyes fixed firmly on her face. She doesn’t really have an opinion on the new requirements for apparition licenses, but he clearly does, and she’s not a Slytherin for nothing.

au where michael loves to read and one day while he's in school library and he sees y/n aka his fucken CRUSH n shes reading a book that happens to be michaels favorite n she's lookin all cute with her glasses n big fluffy sweater n he goes n talks to her about the book n they bond n all that cute stuff :) makes me want to CRY i want a michael

This was such a cute idea and I’m worried I didn’t do it justice but here’s something x Thank you for requesting!

It’s not the most popular spot to be on a Friday night, but that’s what Michael likes about it. The campus library is practically empty while the entirety of the student body is out somewhere binge drinking, an influence that Michael didn’t feel like giving into tonight. With midterms finally coming to an end, his roommates were finding more time for their social lives, and lately their apartment has felt like a nonstop revolving door with friends coming and going as they please. Usually Michael doesn’t mind so much company, but everyone needs a break now and then.

The woman at the front desk knows Michael’s face by now and smiles at him as he walks through the automatic doors. He gives a friendly nod in her direction on his way to the Historical Fiction section, tucking his hands into his leather jacket. While the temperature drops outside, the library remains a cozy atmosphere, making it all the more difficult not to spend forever between its shelves.

He leisurely scans the spines of the books down one aisle, not looking for anything specific, just work he hasn’t read yet. It’s a more difficult task than it sounds considering he can’t remember the last time he wasn’t reading something. Ever since he learned how to as a kid it was basically one story after another, one universe to the next. He spends so much time invested in the made-up lives of fictional characters that he wonders how he’s able to manage his own.

On the other side of the wall of books he hears the delicate sound of a sneeze trying not to be too loud. He smiles as he glosses over the inside of a cover, throwing out a courteous “Bless you” to whoever it came from.

“Thank you,” a girl says back, and Michael’s head snaps up. He knows that voice.

Around the corner he peeks to confirm his suspicion, ecstatic to see you of all people sitting on the carpeted floor with your legs crossed and an open book in your lap. You’re wearing a sweater that’s at least two sizes too big on you, and on the bridge of your nose rests the glasses that you only use when your contacts have been bothering your eyes. Michael doesn’t even notice the corners of his lips curl or that his eyelids become a little heavier, oblivious to the expression he makes when he’s absolutely adoring someone.

Your arm flies up to cover your nose with your sleeve, capturing another sneeze that can’t be tamed. The book in your other hand folds in half over your finger to try to save your place, and Michael inadvertently catches the title of it.

“Bless you,” he repeats.

You’re about to thank him again when you realize who it is, happy to recognize a familiar face when you thought everyone you knew was out partying with each other.

“What are you doing here?” you tease, well aware of Michael’s own tendency to cut loose on the weekends. Surely he’s not the type who prefers to spend his Friday evenings here.

“What everyone comes to the library for,” he retorts, taking a step toward you, “A quickie in the Paleontology section.“

You laugh, using your book to lightly slap his leg. He smirks and crouches with his back to the shelf on the opposite side of the aisle.

“What about you?” he asks, “You’re missing some real ragers right now."

You shrug, swiping hair out of your face just to have it immediately fall back. "I’d rather hangout with Huck and Jim."

Michael brings his gaze back to the copy of Huckleberry Finn in your lap, the one book he’s probably read more times than any other. "That’s a good one."

"It’s too bad they all die in the end."

You smirk. "Nice try, but I’ve read it before.” The bright yellow streaks of highlighter marking hundreds of lines on the pages are at least a few years old. “It’s one of my favorites."

He contently reveals, "Mine too."

He hasn’t known you long, only since the first week of the new semester, but he’s undeniably drawn to you in way he can’t recall being to anyone else. You were eerily quiet during that first week of school, too shy to initiate a conversation with anyone, but that didn’t stop Michael from talking to you. It took a couple of tries for him to break through your shell, always coming to class prepared with jokes and offering to work with you during group assignments. He’ll never forget the day you finally felt comfortable enough around him to insult his outfit, wondering why on earth he owned a pair of jeans that were half black and half striped. You told him he looked like Beetlejuice, and those easily became his favorite pants.

This is the first time he’s really talked to you outside of a classroom, the first time he’s seen you in your element. The first time he’s seen you in glasses. And God, you’re so fucking cute.

"I’m at the part where Huck finds out about Emmeline’s poems,” you share. “I think it’s sweet that he wants to write one for her."

"You’re into that kinda stuff?"

"I mean, I hate poetry."

He laughs, not expecting an answer like that.

"But his reasoning, y'know,” you add.

He nods thoughtfully. “Because she wrote poems for everyone else."

"Yeah.” You’re grateful he understands what you’re talking about. “She deserves to have something written about her, too."

Michael blinks slowly, admiring your opinion, the weight of his hopeless crush sinking to his stomach as he realizes he’s had similar thoughts about you.

"Maybe I would be into that."

"Someone writing about me,” you clarify. “Who was the one who said ‘if a writer falls in love with you, you can never die?’"

Michael doesn’t even have to think about it, that quote being one he knows well. "Mik Everett."

You smile, impressed with his knack for trivia. "Yeah,” you conclude, “I think I’d like that."

"I’ll write about you."

"Oh yeah?"

He gestures to the backpack at your side, and you scoot it across the floor to him. He starts snooping through the pockets, fetching a pen and a sheet of paper. You laugh as he clicks the pen to life, covering your mouth with your hand. He’s really doing this.

A few seconds later he clicks the pen again, signing off on his work. He reads it over silently, proudly flicking it with his finger.

"Can I see?” you play along.

He folds the paper into a smaller rectangle and passes it to you. You open it one layer at a time.

September 30th, 2016– From this day forward, Y/n is immortal.

You roll your eyes in light humor, returning the paper to its smaller shape. “The epic of our generation,” you joke, handing it back to him.

“Hey,” he says defensively, reaching above his head and blindly grabbing a book off one of the shelves behind him, “Hemingway’s style was short and sweet, and I bet you don’t complain about that."

He places the random book on his leg, flipping open the hard cover and sliding the piece of paper under the removable dust jacket, letting part of his note peek out.

"What are you doing?” you question.

He looks at you like the answer is obvious. “You won’t live forever if no one else reads it."

The odds of anyone else reading what’s on that piece of paper is not likely, you know that. The next person to check out that book will probably just throw the note away, if they even see it. But something else you know is that you haven’t stopped smiling since Michael got here. You’ve never felt so at ease talking to someone about a book that’s had a special place in your heart since you were a kid. You’ve never had anything, even a sentence less than 10 words, written about you before. And you’ve damn sure never known someone who could look so hot in a pair of pants that blatantly remind you of Beetlejuice.

"Do you like coffee?” you ask as Michael returns the hidden note to the bookshelf.

"Do you wanna go get some?"

His lips turn into a smirk, knowing a request for a date when he hears one.

"I think I’d like that.”

HOW TO PLOT WITH OTHER ROLE PLAYERS. So after a few conversations with different people - I realized people really don’t know how to plot. Hello!, you think the queerbaiting is necessary for Destiel development (or canon) or is just queerbaiting to trick the Destiel fans? (without canon), Because if Castiel was a woman It was supposed to be canon years ago... (i'm not shipper!)

Hi, my dear non-shipper nonnie! :) Every time the “queerbaiting” word pops up in my inbox, I’m very careful with it. I’m one of the (probably few) fans who don’t see what’s going on in the show as queerbaiting. At least not yet! The show hasn’t ended, so it could still go either way… canon or non-canon. I’m sorry to quote previous things that I’ve written, but this would help me put together similar ideas that I’ve spread in different responses. One of the things I wrote in another post is this:

I think Dean and Cas aren’t together because of their main-characterness and not because of the queer aspect of their relationship. If one of them were a female character, I bet the show would still be taking advantage of their relationship to create conflict and keep us coming for more. I’ll call it queerbaiting once the series reaches the final episode of its final season. If Destiel remains not canon by then, I’ll call bullshit all the tropes they’ve been using, all the parallels, and I’ll call Supernatural the shittiest shit to ever shit in the history of queerbaiting.

Back in January, before it was announced that Supernatural was getting renewed for another season, I said this:

Now in season 10, we will have something to parallel 8x17. In 10x03, Sammy couldn’t make demon!Dean stop, but I expect Cas will be able to. And the audience is going to be forced to ask themselves what caused that. Are we going to get an explicit answer this time? That’s what I don’t know. It depends. Remember Supernatural is probably going to have an 11th season, so there must still be some kind of conflict. Maybe we don’t get our questions answered yet ‘cause the Dean/Cas plot (which is not A or B) needs to get dragged longer into season 11 or even 12.

It would be lovely to have a love confession (either from Cas or Dean, or both), but I’m not sure if we’re quite there yet. If I were one of the writers, I would NOT resolve the Dean/Cas plot yet. And that’s not queerbaiting. That’s just business and television industry, IMO.

One final quote from a different post is this:

Therefore, I still believe we will get something bigger and bigger every time because Destiel won’t be canon until most of the audience is on the same page (as I tried to explain here). Those bigger things are meant to get the audience to think “What? Why?” etc. Like the “What broke the connection?” question in 8x17. But I don’t think they will have the guts to take the risk if they plan to have more seasons […]. They’ll come up with more conflict, more ways to add drama to the Dean/Cas dynamic until they reach their final season and resolve their C plot there, once and for all (hopefully, explicitly and not ambiguously).

If we’re lucky (and that’s a big “IF”) we might get an explicit “I love you” (or any variation of that phrase) from either Dean or Cas […], but not from the other one. I say this because the “slow burn” gets boring, and even the media is getting tired of it. With some sort of confirmation from one of them, we could at least move on to the “will they/won’t they” dynamic in the story, which would be very interesting. BUT… as I said, that’s a big IF. It depends on whether they have the guts to use the relationship to their favor or not. If they don’t, they’ll just resolve it at the very end.

I’ve probably written too much about this lol. In season 10, we have gotten confirmation from both Dean and Cas that they love each other. (Not explicitly, but it’s there). Dean knows and states that Cas is one of the people who love him (10x07), and Cas knows and states that he’s one of the people Dean loves (10x22). However, nothing has been said about the nature of their affection. What kind of love is it? That’s not explicit yet. And it won’t unless season 11 is the last one for Supernatural.

If Cas were a woman, they would have probably moved to the “will they/won’t they” dynamic already. But because he isn’t, we’re still waiting. Many people might call that queerbaiting. Maybe they’re right, but we can’t be sure until the series reaches its end. I’m still interested in the Dean/Cas story, so I’ll wait and see. I might have lost interest in the repetitive relationship between the brothers. I might not really care about the darkness (*le gasp*), but I’ll be here in October and continue to watch despite the shitty writing for Castiel in some instances.

If the show had the guts and took the Dean/Cas relationship to another level, they wouldn’t have so many problems to keep Cas on screen. The writers don’t know what to do with Cas anymore. He’s turned into a prop because TPTB know that they can either kill him off or finally give him the role of the love interest for Dean. They might not be willing to kill him off because they fear the fandom’s reaction and because they can’t afford to lose Misha. But they haven’t given him the love interest role either. That’s why Cas’ role in season 10 was so… empty. We’ve gotten to a point where it’s clear Cas’ mission is Dean. And now what? I believe not even the writers know what to do next, so let’s hope for the best in season 11. (*sigh*)

Arranged Marriage (Namjoon)

And now it is time for our amazing leader, my lowkey spirit animal, a smol green bean with a smile that just make his entire face light up and I love it s o much, Kim Namjoon aka Rap Monster aka joon (also I was curious as to what you guys would think about doing like a sleepover Saturday type of deal where you can ask me questions and get to know me better ?? If you’d be interested in that, let me know !!!)

  • For the original prince!Namjoon post, you can click here
  • I am gonna be straying a bit from the plot of the original post but the actual characteristics of prince!joon will still be the same
  • For everyone that hasn’t read the original post, he is actually a bit of a mix
  • He isn’t as outgoing as hobi or Jin but he’s also not as quiet as Yoongi
  • He does know all of his people bc Namjoon can be social when he wants to be, he doesn’t seem to have any issues making friends outside of BTS
  • But at the same time BTS is kinda like home base he just loves them all so much and when he’s with them, he’s super comfortable and it’s just a really special friendship
  • Prince!joon is v v friendly, if someone wants to come talk to him, he’s super down to sit down with them and talk about whatever comes up
  • But at the same time, he does like to have his chill time where he can just kick back and read
  • He really is right in the middle, I can see him being friends with everyone but I can also see him enjoying some time alone
  • His parents tell him about the whole arranged marriage situation a few months before the wedding date
  • He is not v v happy about it bc he would like to at least know your surname before he’s engaged to you
  • But he does try to think about it from a positive point, he tries to think about how good the marriage will be for both kingdoms, how it could start an entire new alliance
  • And plus, maybe you and him will click once you meet each other, maybe by the time the wedding comes around, he’ll be in love
  • He’s a bit nervous to meet you tbh
  • Bc what if you have zero interest in him, what if you don’t think he’s someone you’d wanna be with, what if you find him boring like there are so many things that can go wrong here
  • But he tries to stay calm and just relax and trust in the fact that his parents wouldn’t set him up with someone they didn’t think he could love
  • Your parents invite his family over to your castle so you two can meet and all of the in-laws can talk and just everyone can mingle and get to really know their future family
  • He tries to prepare some things to say for when he meets you like he has some goofy pick up lines if he needs to make you laugh, he has some topics, some conversation openers like “what are your thoughts on this book?? Have you ever read it??”
  • But once he gets to the castle, all of that just goes away bc hol y shit he’s about to meet you and his in-laws all at once like this is a lot what if he says something stupid and makes everyone hate him within the first five minutes
  • His lil heart is beating so fast and he’s trying to chill out bc he wants to be all cool when you first see him but his feet have other plans
  • He walks into the front room where you and your family are waiting and he goes to smile but then he trips on his own foot
  • He kinda just lays on the floor and sighs and is just like well that’s perfect that’s exactly what I planned on gr eAT
  • He’s sitting there thinking he’s blown it, that there’s no chance you’re gonna want to be with him now, that you’ll find him embarrassing
  • But then you start giggling and he kinda just peeks up and sees you come over to help him up and ask him if he’s okay
  • He gets that really cute smile thing he does where his dimples come out and his eyes light up and they do the thing and it’s all teeth and relieved giggles
  • You help him back up and help him fix his jacket and you already know that this man, this prince that everyone always says amazing things about, is gonna have your heart in his palm in no time
  • Once you two actually start talking, his nerves finally go away and he can just open up and be himself and not worry about you not liking him bc from what he can see, you like him a l o t
  • The entire night he’s just smiling and giggling and he’s so happy and he does get to use one of his funny lil pick up lines just bc he wants to see you laugh
  • He gives the back of your hand a lil kiss before he leaves and it’s just so cute and charming as fuck
  • You two keep in touch by books actually
  • Every month, you two send each other a few books, just things you think the other person would find interesting or something you found cool and want the other person to see
  • Inside the books, you two go to town and add notes to the pages, sometimes you explain why you chose that exact book, why you liked a certain character or a certain quote
  • At the very back of the book, he would always write you a lil note, something sweet and cute and it’s just so cute that he’s willing to sit down and write out all of these lil notes or jokes and explain why he likes something
  • A month before the wedding, you two move in together and it’s just as amazing as you hoped it would be
  • He’s just as sweet as he is in the books, he’s a goofball who can make you laugh all day and night, he’s cuddly as fu CK and he makes a really fucking nice pillow like have you seen his chest sign me the fuck up
  • Spoiler alert but he was right, by the time the wedding comes around, he is madly in love and so are you
About Yennefer’s mind reading ability in the Witcher books

Ok, so I’ve seen lately a lot of people bashing on Yennefer and using her mind reading abilities as a way to prove that she is an awful bitch. Mind reading is something everyone fears. I mean, who has never thought in an embarrassing situation “OMG, I hope that nobody can read my thoughts right now…..”? I think we all did think that someday. Our mind is this secret, sacred sanctuary, the one thing nobody can take from us. So in the witcher saga, Yennefer does have the ability to read thoughts, and it apparently makes some people really uncomfortable with her character. So, yes another reason to hate her. Yes, according to some people she rapes Geralt’s mind all the time. And in my opinion nothing could be further from the truth. So what is the mind reading thing really about in the witcher saga? In order to be more precise and objective, I’ll use book quotes.

First the mind reading doesn’t come up that often in the books. And it might be a surprise for some of you but Geralt only complains about it ONCE, in the whole 8 books saga, in the Sword of Destiny short story, when Geralt and Yennefer meet again after having been apart for quite some time.

Geralt, tense, stroked Yennefer’s curls and breathed in the scent of lilac and gooseberry they gave off. If I desire her too intensely, he thought, she’ll sense it and she’ll be put off. Her hackles will rise, she’ll bristle and spurn me. I’ll ask her calmly how she’s doing…..
“Nothing to report” she said, and something in her voice quavered. “Nothing worth mentioning.”
“Don’t do that to me, Yen. Don’t read me. It unsettles me.”
“Forgive me. It’s automatic. And what’s new with you Geralt?”
“Nothing. Nothing worth mentioning.”
They said nothing.

Andrzej Sapkowski - Sword of Destiny

Ok so this is the ONE time Geralt tells Yen that he doesn’t want her to read his mind in the books. We will need context here. Geralt and Yennefer just met again, after a long time without seeing each other and a very difficult break up. They are in a tough place at this moment. So yes, of course Geralt doesn’t want her to read his thoughts. I mean would you want your ex to learn, in ANY way that you still love her and desire her? I don’t think so. So I don’t think the issue really is the mind reading there. Plus you will also notice that Geralt is not really mad, he doesn’t yell at her, he only says don’t do that nicely. He doesn’t tell her that he hates it, he only says that it unsettles him. And how does Yennefer react? She apologizes, immediately and she backs off right away. And she says ‘It’s automatic’, what does this tell us? That she used to do it, that it was normal for them. Yennefer apologizing, stopping it and adding THIS clearly means that she used to do it and Geralt didn’t use to protest against it!
So yes, you have it, Geralt “hating” the mind reading thing! Big deal isn’t it?

But well if this is the one time he complains, then how does it usually go when she reads his mind?

Geralt knew that, in moments like this, the enchantress’s telepathic abilities were sharpened and very powerful, so he thought about beautiful matters and beautiful things. About things which would give her joy. About the exploding brightness of the sunrise. About fog suspended over a mountain lake at dawn. About crystal waterfalls, with salmon leaping up them, gleaming as though made of solid silver. About warm drops of rain hitting burdock leaves, heavy with dew.
He thought for her and Yennefer smiled, listening to his thoughts.

Andrzej Sapkowski - Time of Contempt.

In this moment, Geralt and Yen just made love to each other. And Geralt knows her magical abilities are stronger in this moment. And do you see him worrying about her reading his mind? He is happy about it, he is thinking for her, to make HER happy. This is one of the most beautiful moments between the two of them in the entire saga. So yes, mind reading, evil right?

I know what you will say at this point. Yeah well, ok, Geralt doesn’t mind THAT much. It still doesn’t make it ok for her to read his mind and invade his privacy. So is Yennefer really reading him all the time? No. No she isn’t, and she tries to respect his privacy.

“I love you Yen”
“I said drop the ostentation….’ she broke off, tossed her head, drew some black curls away from her cheek and opened her violet eyes wide. “Geralt! It’s the first time you ever said that!”
“It can’t be. You’re making fun of me”
“No, no I’m not. You used to only think it, but today you said it.”
“Is there such a difference?”
“A huge one”
“Don’t talk with your mouth full. I love you too. Haven’t I ever told you? Heavens you’ll choke! Lift your arms up and I’ll thump you in the back. Take some deep breaths.”
“Keep breathing it’ll soon pass”
“Yes. I’m repaying sincerity with sincerity.”
“Are you feeling all right?”
“I was waiting” she said, squeezing lemon on the salmon. “It wouldn’t have been proper to react to a declaration made as a thought. I was waiting for the words. I was able to reply, so I replied. I feel wonderful.”

Andrzej Sapkowski - Time of Contempt

So obviously Yennefer knew that Geralt loved her because she heard his thoughts. But she didn’t act on it. She respected the fact that he wasn’t ready to say it. She didn’t use it against him, she didn’t pressure him, she didn’t manipulate him. She didn’t do any of these things even though she could have! Nope, she only waited, patiently, for him to say it. And the joy it brings her when he finally says it, it is priceless. And once again do you see Geralt reacting to the mind reading? I don’t.
I won’t quote the entire book, but there is also a part where she does read him a bit too far and hear something she wasn’t meant too. What does she do? Oh yes, she apologizes, again.
The mind reading is one of the way they use to communicate with each other and it’s beautiful.

Next potential issue. Does Yennefer also read other people minds? Well she does it with Ciri, at least three times. Same as Geralt, Ciri doesn’t seem to have anything against it, and here again mind reading leads to some very beautiful moments of complicity between the two of them. Here is an example of Yennefer and Ciri, talking about the day they first met :

“I didn’t like you” she repeated.
Yennefer did not look at her as she stood at the window with her back turned, staring at the hills looming black in the east. Above the hills, the sky was dark with flocks of ravens and crows.
In a minute she’s going to ask why I didn’t like her, thought Ciri. No, she’s too clever to ask such a question. She’ll dryly draw my attention to my grammar and ask when I started using the past tense. And I’ll tell her. I’ll be just as dry as she is, I’ll parody her tone of voice, let her know that I, too, can pretend to be cold, unfeeling and indifferent, ashamed of my feelings and emotions. I’ll tell her everything. I want to. I have to tell her everything. I want her to know everything before we leave Melitele’s Temple. Before we part to finally meet the one I miss. The one she misses. The one who no doubt misses us both. I want to tell her that….
I’ll tell her. It’s enough for her too ask.
The magician turned from the window and smiled. She did not ask anything.

Andrzej Sapkowski - Blood of Elves

So I guess you understood why Yennefer didn’t ask. Mind reading. And once again it appears in one of my favorite part. This is a beautiful moment between them. You can notice here that Ciri knows Yen very well, sees right through her cold mask and….. And yes, loves her deeply.

Does Yennefer use it on anyone beside Geralt and Ciri? Well we don’t know. It’s not mentioned anywhere. We don’t know either how far Yennefer can go with this ability or how it works exactly. Does she need to have a personal connection with the person? Can she do it with anyone? Sapkowski has a very unique way of writing. He doesn’t write anything that doesn’t serve the plot. He won’t describe a landscape or a character if it doesn’t serve the plot. He won’t tell us more about Yennefer’s telepathic abilities either because the plot doesn’t require it.
So why does he use it at all? To underline the very special bond that Yennefer shares with both Geralt and Ciri. To show how beautiful these relationships are. THIS is the purpose of Yen’s mind reading ability in the books! The one time it is used in a “negative” way (aka Geralt asking her to stop), it is used to show that this bond is weakened in THIS specific moment and that they have to work some things out, as OPPOSED to what usually happens (aka Geralt not minding Yen reading him).

So what’s with the game then? Yes, I agree, in TW3, Geralt often complains about the mind reading and Yen kinda shuts him off without hearing him out. I personally don’t mind. I like their banter, it’s funny and not so far from the truth IF you see it as “being meant to add some fun”.
Still, basically, CDPR uses ONE line of the books, they use something that happened ONCE in a very specific situation and choose to completely ignore the general pattern. The general pattern being that the mind reading is almost always used in a very positive way in the books. So, sure it adds some fun but it also twists the book lore in a way and it gives people a reason to hate on Yennefer. And it is not deserved. At all.

i wanna add some additional evidence+commentary, but first i wanna say im so tired when people use stahl to bash silas because he isnt like him. they’re different characters, and stahl is part of the cain/abel archetype at that so its not even a fair comparison (a better one would be stahl/kaze as abels). just because they’re nice guy cavaliers doesnt mean they have to be the same.

“seems to have no loyalty towards his nation”
Since we’re on Silas in Birthright, why not point to Birthright!Silas?

BR CH7 (Post-battle):

Avatar: Then you will join us?

Silas: Yes. Perhaps together we can bring peace to the world someday

BR CH12 (Turn where Xander comes in):

Silas: Please understand, milord! Lord/Lady Avatar’s actions are justified! King Garon’s dark ambition is the sole cause of this war. Unless we stop him, both kingdoms with continue to suffer.

BR CH22 (Pre-battle):

Silas: (In response to Ryoma’s offer to give food to Nohr after the war) That’s much appreciated, milord. You are an inspiration! I am prepared to give up my own life to fight for you. Because truly, fighting for you is as good as fighting for Nohr!

The good of Nohr is far and away from an afterthought. The reason why Silas fights on the Hoshidan side is not only because of his loyalty to the Avatar, but because he believes that it is the best way to bring an end to the war. By bringing down King Garon, who started the war in the first place by giving the Avatar the Ganglari, Silas believes that his country will be better off.

“young enough that the Avatar plain forgot about him… made no friends/considered other life goals”
Silas/Avatar A Support:

Silas: I can see why they tried to take your mind off of me. I guess they just did too good a job…

The Avatar was essentially brainwashed into forgetting about Silas because they always cried about his banishment. They really were friends.

I agree w/Mod Charlotte that there’s nothing stating that Silas never made friends in the years between his banishment and return. In his B support with Ryoma, he said that he did terribly with strangers and the Avatar had to get him to open up. He outright states that he would not be the same person he is today if it weren’t for the Avatar. His bond quote after a level up if you marry him:

Silas: You mean so much to me. You taught me how to be a friend, how to enjoy life. But most of all, you taught me how to love.

JPN!Silas: Thank you. I’m really glad to have you here. You taught me friendship and love. These dear feelings… if it weren’t for you… I’m sure I would never have known them.

Combined with his A support with Kaze on Silas’ views of debts owed:

Silas: (After Kaze apologizes for his actions) I’m not mad. I know what you’re trying to do, and I appreciate it. I hate feeling like I owe people too. I’d give anything to square a debt—even my life. So I kind of know where you’re coming from on this.

Silas believes that he owes a LOT to the Avatar: not only is he a better person because of them, they saved his life after getting in trouble for bringing them outside the castle.
Another thing that people forget is that Silas did not know that the Avatar forgot about him until his join chapter, AFTER he became a knight. It’s not a matter of “I’m a stalker,” it’s a matter of “Hey friend! You changed my life for the better and and I believe that you’re worth fighting for! Wait… you don’t remember me?”

The other criticisms in the post I’ll blame on bad writing. Even though I do like Silas’ supports with Elise (at least C-A), I will agree that it was not a good idea to have the C-A be about Silas’ lack of a sister and their trying to create a sibling bond with each other. Ideally that chain would have stopped at the A support, but the child mechanics dictate that Silas must be able to marry every non-Corrinsexual bacherlorette, which is why it goes onto the S for both of them. Regarding the A support with Camilla, even though I don’t mind Silas’ wish to have siblings (since, as an only child myself, it’s a wish that I’m very familar with), I agree that it wasn’t the best decision considering that it was right before the S support, so people would take it the wrong way. Personally I’d rewrite that support line, considering it’s already extremely similar to Arthur’s Camilla support, but I digress.

There are a lot of things that the writers could have done better. The fact that the Avatar forgets about him is Silas’ biggest problem, because without being established as the childhood friend first it DOES come off as Silas lying. The Avatar doesn’t know him, and the player doesn’t know him either, and no one in the game corroborates Silas’ claims, so it’s all one big misunderstanding. If the amnesia was played for drama, so that there was some sort of angst/tragedy in Silas’ friendship with the Avatar… holy shit did they mess that one up. Personally, I think it would have been more tragic if the Avatar DID remember Silas and still had to fight him. The writers really didn’t think the whole amnesia thing through, and I’ll agree with OP on that.

Regarding Silas’ responsibilities as the heir to his parents’ titles, that’s another thing that the writers didn’t consider. His family is stated to be rich in his Peri S support (“I come from a prosperous house with many servants”) so there is something for Silas to inherit. I’ll give this one to the writers, since the topic of Silas’ family and the question of inheritance (interesting though it may be) isn’t exactly essential to the story. They clearly do care about each other since they are stated to keep in touch in his S support with Kagero (“I’ve been writing to them about you… From what they’ve written, they’re very excited to meet you. Excited enough, in fact, that they sent me this ring to show their support.”), so make of that what you will.

And if you’re in want of good Silas supports, I recommend his Avatar, Jakob, Kaze, Azura, Hinoka, Oboro, Ryoma, Selena, Beruka, Charlotte, Mozu, and Sophie supports, since they are both enjoyable to read and give some insight into Silas’ character. I’ll end this rant with this:

“he’s like the antithesis to the duty-bound FE knight trope”

Silas/Oboro A Support

Oboro: I wanted to ask you something. You know those bandits we cleared out a while ago? I noticed they were Nohrian, and they were preying on Hoshidan families.

Silas: What about it?

Oboro: Why did you save the Hoshidans? Were you trying to prove your loyalty, now that you’re not with Nohr anymore?

Silas: I’d have done the same if it were Hoshidan bandits attacking Nohrian peasants.

Oboro: So, what’s the deal?

Silas: It’s a knight’s duty to protect the innocent. Now, some might say protecting innocents from an enemy nation is going too far… But in my book, that’s the mark of a true knight.

The ULTIMATE HYYH Theory & Analysis (INU, Prologue, RUN, EPILOGUE) - PART 1

This is my plot theory/analysis for BTS’ HYYH MV series. I’ll be going through the MVs one by one, making points when they become relevant. I’ll be discussing butterflies, card houses, photographs, as well as extra bits here and there that I think are important/hold some meaning.

Let me just say, that I did no extra research into any of the stuff I’m going to bring up; this is literally all from me watching the MVs and putting things together piece by piece. I’ve tried my best to only go off on what is presented to me, and let my mind fill in as least gaps as possible (because if you want to see something hard enough, you will).

I’ve also screencapped loads of moments to add ‘evidence’ to my claims. Enjoy!

There's something that's been bothering me. I think NR loves MMB and admires her as an actress, but I got this weird, sad feeling that maybe NR doesn't like Carol, the character. Did you get that impression? It wasn't the "beautiful monster" comment, or, at least, not that entirely...

Hi there my anonymous friend,

Thank you for your message and for trusting me with your question. I tried my very best to answer this in a way that’s helpful because I know a few other people were a tad bit concerned about this as well.

Now I am absolutely not the best person to ask about anything specific regarding the actor Norman Reedus because I haven’t exactly followed his career all that closely prior to TWD and only know the basic facts about him in general BUT I did do my homework on this so hopefully this will be useful to you.
If anyone else would like to add anything positive or constructive please don’t hesitate to hijack and comment on this.

There is no doubt that Norman Reedus and Melissa McBride are close, long-time friends AND we know that they have a lot of respect and love for each other.
We also know that Norman in particular admires Melissa’s acting skills, as we’ve heard him single out her performance season after season and has gone on record several times to say that she was his favourite actress on TWD. He’s also been very vocal and open about the fact that Melissa makes HIM a better actor and that their off-screen friendship allows him to be more vulnerable and more expressive in their scenes together. He has gone as far as saying that she makes him look good in a scene.
Norman’s accolades of those CARYL scenes have proven to be more than accurate because Carol and Daryl’s chemistry on screen allows them to play off of each other in a way that both elevates their performance and at the same time seems to enhance the emotional impact of the scene in question.

The critics have obviously noticed too because “Consumed”, an episode starring just the two of them, has been hailed as one of the most resonating in the series.

Instant award buzz!

The success of the work they’ve done “together” and the sheer number of scenes they’ve been given indicates that Normans sentiments about Daryl and Carol interacting, has to be positive and especially because we hear HIM praising their dynamic together over-and-over again.

While he isnt pushing the romance angle, I think he likes Carol and Daryl together in any capacity because it really is a dynamic that brings out the best of both characters.
I am not going to debate whether or not Daryl loves Carol because that notion has been repeatedly proven canonically on screen (albeit undefined) so I am assuming your concern is about Norman’s personal opinion on the kind of character Carol has become or grown into.

To answer your question with some degree of accuracy I took a look at a few interviews where Norman discussed the kind of characters he likes playing and likes watching throughout his career in general.
The GQ article from 2014 gave me the most insight.

I’ve really liked having grotesque things and finding beauty in them. I’ve always been a fan of horror films and I like aggressive music and I like aggressive people—they all kind of were interesting to me….
I like dark things. I like reasons why things are dark, you know….
You know, I get quoted a lot for saying “I like it when devils cry and angels stab you in the back.” I really find that more interesting than “I’m a big bad wolf and I’m just gonna be a big bad wolf the whole time.” I think it’s more interesting to see that wolf cub turn into a bad wolf, you know?” (X)

what're your predictions for Carol and caryl's arc for the rest of the season? I adore your blog by the way!

Thank you sexy Anon! (I can tell you’re sexy from your awesome taste)

Okay I’m going to put a read more, because the end gets spoilery and also because it’s me wanging on about Caryl happening and some folks don’t want to see that.

B.A.P Matrix Teaser Thoughts

Ever since all six teasers released, I keep trying to connect it all and make sense of what the YW&F mv has in store. This isn’t really a theory, but I guess it’s more of analyzing what’s going with everything we got so far. As usual, my writings are just opinions and not what’s actually going on.

Thoughts on TW 4x06

So, we’re now halfway through the season and i got to say that i’m liking what i see. I know a lot of people have expressed their disappointment with TW lately, but for all of you still enjoying it - here’re my inital reactions to the episode 4x06 “Orphaned”

and for those wondering but can’t be bothered to read on, I thought the episode was good. Not the best this season, but still good

first off…. SCOTT - wtf you doing?!

What can I say? I’m not a Scott hater, i’m really not. I’d love to see Scott grown into his potential. But if you’re one of those who can’t bear to read anything regarding scott that isn’t wrapped in flowers and sunshine, then feel free to skip to the next heading.

When on earth is he going to learn? He keeps repeating the same mistakes over and over (history repeating being a theme, but he’s so far the only character to repeat his own mistakes. the others tend to repeat others’ mistakes and learn from their own).

Firstly - the money. Yes this is blood money and given his normally very black and white morals, the fact that scott takes it speaks volumes. I can understand the temptation. we know his family (and others) are in financial trouble, but still - this reeks of foreshadowing to more potenionally shady decisions down the line. the meta group have been talking about a dark arc for a long time, and it looks like we’re seeing the start here.

also he is tampering with evidence when he breaks into the lockers. that could potentially screw up the investigation. in this case both suspects died, but that doesn’t change the fact that it was a shit thing to do.

scott makes mistakes, all the character does. but scott is the one that never gets called out on it or sufferes any real consequences. and he often gets painted as the hero and gets credit even if he’s not the one who deserves it (the whole alpha pack rumor being a fine example of this). and before anyone angrily points it out - yes stiles seems to share in the temptation and i will not be making any excuses for him either, but at least stiles has always been more openly grey in his morals, so it’s not equally as out of character. Still i will reserve judgment on this money issue until we see what they end up doing with it. for all we know it might be pooled into the deadpool derek suggest they set up for the hunters? (as seen in the mid-season trailer)

Blood money aside, why oh why scott do you keep on going along with the bad guy’s plan? you did it with deucalion and that didn’t turn out so good. and now garrett comes along, kidnaps Liam to make scott stop the prison transport to free violet, and he readily tags along. Scotty my boy, you had options here. why didn’t you even consider any of them?

  • You could’ve asked for help from your pack! stiles would be all over that shit, and now that you actually have the sheriff in the know and he will be overseeing the transport, why not use the opportunity to create a trap for Garrett? Hell, even informing his FBI dad would be a better option than blindly following garrett’s lead.
  • and for christ sake! scott, you’re an alpha werewolf! we’ve heard you howl before to signal your pack. why oh why not roar for Liam? it’s worth at least a try. or get Derek and Malia to help - they could try to track him while you lure Garrett into a trap. Instead Liam actually ends up saving himself.

this is just inexcusable and the worst part is i don’t know why he does is this way. is it because he truly sees himself as the only person who can solve the situation (messiah complex much?) or does he not trust his pack/friends? When Chris shows up he readily accepts the help, but then again scott has alwasy been prone to trust the hunters over his friends/kind. i’m kind of baffled, and if anyone has a good explanation i’d like to hear it :)

in conclusion, scott’s snowballing down a slippery slope towards darker times, and the worst part is he doesn’t even realize it himself. once again he declares that no one will die and he makes it his responsibility. Someone - i think it was stilesederek that pointed out that the line “I’m not letting anyone else die” is almost a direct quote from Anakin in Star Wars - and we all know how badly that ended…. (and scott hasn’t even seen star wars - he definitely should!)

so that is the rant part over and done with - and now….

Random thoughts about the rest neatly listed in bullet points even though most of them sort of blend into each other…

  • Parrish | i just want to say i loved the trio of parrish/stilinski/martin!!!! As for Parrish the theories are many with regards to what the F**K he is - the mid-season trailer seems to indicate he will have no trouble surviving a car fire. others have done great meta on this, so i’ll leave that be. This episode however leads to the question of whether he’s genuinely in the dark about his supernatural abilities or just a really, really good actor. His reaction to the deadpool was funny and convincing (i’m still chortling over the line “Maybe i’ll kill myself” - unless that is cruel foreshadowing of parrish sacrificing himself…. nope, no will not think about that).
  • No matter, parrish is clearly intrigued by Lydia. i sense there’s a connection or correlation between their gifts. call it a hunch..
  • And Stiles has given him his stamp of approval - remember he has a very perceptive eye for evil and for the moment parrish seems to be “good” or at least on our side.
  • Also I’m digging the Lydia/Stiles detective duo/friendship. They’ve come a long way, and although i don’t hate stydia, i honestly didn’t read anything other than friendship and respect between them. The scene where stiles comforted lydia was beautiful.
  • I loved that Lydia managed to use her gift this time (even is the name she found was Derek’s - more on that later). I also wonder what was up with her bleeding ear. and did you notice that neither parrish nor stiles seemed to be affected by meredith’s scream, although we know other supernaturals like werewolves do. clearly they are not anything with enhanced hearing…
  • The third list | I honestly didn’t think we would get the third part of the list this episode. I thought it would have more build up and possibly lead to a more shocking reveal such as Stiles being on it. Now we have all the names on the table (supposedly) and it wasn’t really any surprises there. we expected noshiko, liam and malia to be on it and they were along with meredith.
  • Funny detail tho is Malia was listed as Malia Hale. I still think it’s a possibility Liam could be the real Hale. so the question we should be asking ourselves is: who would know that malia is suspected to be a hale? the list isn’t actually that long, and the most likely candidates seem to be Deucalion (he’s got history with the hales) and Deaton (scott tells him everything and he was the hale emissary). feel free to add on.
  • Speaking of Deaton - was it foreshadowing or just a red herring when the scene cut from Meredith saying “the benefactor” and the next one speaking was Deaton saying “Hello there.”
  • we need to talk about sterek. There wasn’t any more direct interaction besides the sneak peek that we’d already seen. but it was snarky and i’m also positve stiles picked up on derek not being as strong as he used to, and maybe even the healing slower thing. he’ll piece it together (and so will peter). But the scene where lydia “banshees” the last cypher key and it’s derek - the way the reaction is sole focused on stiles is telling. also his look - so intense, clearly emotions are being surpressed and he looks determined to prevent it. wait a sec i have to gif it….

  • Malia - once again she’s pointing people in the right direction. this is like her thing, and this time it’s derek that is given the right prompts to find the remains of satomi’s pack. but is it like her gift to the pack, or is there some motive behind it? I like the character, but like braeden i don’t really trust her yet.
  • With regars to satomi - derek informs us that she’s a bitten werewolf and one the oldest alive. and if it’s the same one as in the internment camp during WW2 then we seriously need to go another round on this werewolf aging thing.
  • The orphans - as predicted violet and garrett met their demise this episode. and on that note i couldn’t help but notice that they made a point out of agent mccall questioning violet about the thermowire - because apparantly that’s been used in “a string of murders.” as far as we know she’s only killed demarco, cut of that blonde werewolf’s hand and tried to behead brett and scott. it there’s a string of murders in other states, than that indicates 1) this is not just a local problem and b) might there be more lists? i’m intrigued….
  • there’s a theory floating around about striped clothing indicating possession. last week malia was wearing stripes. this week it’s mason.
  • and lastly Peter and Kate. what a terrifying duo. and it’s becoming more and more clear that they have history. they way they talk and the things they know about each other suggests this. peter wants power and i’m thinking this is mainly in the form of being an alpha again. which suggests either from scott or satomi (assuming she’s now the alpha of that pack). how and why they will help each other both terrifies me and makes my head hurt, so i’ll leave that for another day when i’m feeling slightly more clearheaded.
  • Next week will be the bottle episode with the outbreak at the school and it looks like all our friends will be infected. coach is clearly already down for the count, and seeing as also stiles seems to be collapsing in the promo it will affect both supernatural creatures and humans. i think this was the same thing that killed satomi’s pack this episode. i’ve already talked about that, braeden and draeden in this post.

 that’s it for now.

Re: your tags - as the season goes on it's been clearer to me that losing Cat has affected the story beyond just missing the Cat/Kara relationship. We have all these new aliens/heroes (including James) and the "human" element - esp. the theme that "anyone can be a hero" that she represented so strongly - is missing. Basically everyone we see regularly knows Kara as both Kara AND Supergirl, with no distinction (even if it's just a facade, as we assume that Cat knows).

So we’re missing Cat and all that CatCo represents as the link between the alien/DEO/superhero world and the “real”/“normal” people world, AND Cat as the Lois Lane of Kara’s story - whether romantic or not, she was all of the things you described. At this point, I don’t really see a need for Kara’s secret identity, and for all that this season is supposed to be Kara finding herself as Kara vs. last season finding her footing as Supergirl, I feel like we’ve hardly seen “Kara”.

We’ve lost Cat and Lucy, we’ve gained Miss Martian and Mon-El, James is becoming a superhero - I miss the “human” feel to the show, the struggle that Kara felt between the two lives, because that IS such a big part of any superhero story and it was so well done. For all the good that’s happening this season, this shift in tone is really hard to not be bummed out about. (But sorry for ranting! Your tags struck a chord.)

No need to apologize, I agree with all of this so much!! One of the things I really really loved about the first season was how much the writers understood the core elements of a Supergirl/man story (because even though Supergirl is her own character, the overlap between them will always be very strong). And so much of the point of Clark Kent (and by extension, Kara) is the importance of and love for humanity. (That awesome reddit quote just sums it up perfectly: “It’s the mythology of a sun god who wished he was a man because he saw something so great in us. It’s the story of a hero who could move whole worlds and see through stars and hear a whisper on the other side of the planet…who fell in love with a storyteller.”) And just like you said, by moving away from the humans it’s losing that element which is really unfortunate and so, so central to a Super character. (I went on a bit of a rant of my own so sticking the rest beneath a cut!)

Emma and how she “sacrificed herself for those she loved”

I’ve seen a lot of disgruntled comments about that one, and I’ve debated whether I should bring this back or not, but for anyone interested in reading an essay I wrote a while back (I’ve since edited it to include the finale, because it’s pretty relevant) on why some people are so determined to not see the romantic side to SQ, I’m adding it below the cut; the original essay was 1500 words long, but it’s now it’s nearly 3k, so yeah. It’s mostly for me, and a way for me to explain it to myself, and make sense of what/why people react the way they do.

To any of you familiar with feminist writings, the text I use for reference is Terry Castle’s The Apparitional Lesbian
