i thought every fandom needs their own ...this

Kay so I wrote a fic about this for a diff fandom but I thought it would work here as well… Au where every one in the ham musical has their own special ability. It can range from being able to control elements to advanced innovation skills.

Maria’s a potions/poisons expert (by default she’s immune to any kind of poison) and she runs a shop that sells the stuff. She needed to go away to visit her family and asks her girl friend Eliza who could control the element of water to mind the store and take care of the deliveries. One of which is someone requesting for a love potion (Eliza doesn’t agree with using it but still goes with it) she makes her way to deliver the thing but on the way she’s met with chaos courtesey of Jefferson and Hamilton who are once again getting on each other’s nerves. It was worst because they were actually using their powers against each other with Jeff telekenitically throwing items at Ham not hurt but mostly to just pisd him off (random trash) and Ham blocking them with a self generated shield while attacking with small bursts of energy that makes Thomas jump. One shock was too much and it caused Tom to bump into Eliza and for her to accidentally spill the potion all over Thomas who now under the effects of the potion is staring at Hamilton.

Eliza explains Ham freaks out and begs Liza to fix it. Thomas is flirting with Ham. Kissing his hand, lots and lots of sweet talking. He tries to hug Ham but Ham pushes him away.

Thomas keeps saying “I love you” and Alexander retorts “no you don’t,!”

Eliza calls Maria to ask for help and after laughing her ass off gives the ingredients to an antidote that works on any potion. Eliza works on the antidote while Ham is stuck with

“You’re so gorgeous”
“Stop touching my face”
“I love you so much Alexander Hamilton”
“Stop saying that!”
“But it’s true.”
“You don’t know what you’re saying”
“Yes I do.”
“You make me feel things, Alexander. You make me…feel.”
“…once you get the antidote you’ll be back to normal”
“back to being a coward”
“Wait, what do you mean–?”

Eliza then appears with the antidote and after much pushing, made Jeff drink it.

Fast forward to a couple of days later, Thomas doesn’t remember anything and Alexander just wants to forget.

Maria is arranging her potions when she notices something

“Yes, my song?”
“You said you spilled the last of my love potion?”
“But here’s the last love potion”
“Oh. Perhaps you had an extra one.”
“No. I’m certain that this is the last one.”
“And I’m sure I spilled it all over Jefferson’s head”
“Wait. What did your potion look like?”
“Well…just like that in the same shaped of bottle except the purple is darker.”
“darker….oh. Oh!”
“What. What is it?”
“That wasn’t a love potion”
“then what was it?”
“That was a truth serum”
“Oh. Oh! Well, damn.”

I feel like every fandom needs at least one fic where Person A is super high after a surgery and temporarily forgets that Person B is their significant other and is shocked to find out that they’re actually married!

Thought this oneshot would be fun to write and amusing to read. Enjoy! :)

Hey Hi! I just wanted to say that I read your post about the negativity in the fandom. I have not read EoS yet (It's next on the list), but if you ever need someone to fangirl with over AOCTAR or the other books in the ToG series, feel free to let me know! My blog is a big multifandom mess, but I promise that I will focus mostly on the positive parts of every fandom, and especially SJM. And by the way, I loved ACOWAR! Loads of love, Anna

I wasn’t going to talk about this. I don’t normally make my own posts, sharing my thoughts/feelings about a book. I just reblog post that shadows how I feel and leave it at that. But the reason actually ties into the negativity here. I feel like if I were to make a post explaining how I feel, people would just attack me one way or another. And I don’t have the energy to back myself up every time someone doesn’t agree with me. But I need to address this. So get ready for a long post.

I’m assuming you’re talking about the post @house-of-galathynius made, talking about the negativity in the fandom (for those of you who haven’t seen it, you can find it HERE)

And I 110% agree with her.

I’ve been apart of this fandom for a year and a half now. I wasn’t there from the start. When I started Tog, QoS was already out and when I started ACOTAR, ACOMAF was already out. But in this short amount of time, the negativity in the fandom has skyrocketed. And I honestly agree with @house-of-galathynius when she said it all started after EoS. We’ve only had 2 books from Sarah since (EoS and now ACOWAR), but in my opinion, both got A LOT of hate and negativity.

Now. I’m not saying you can’t hate a book. I just finished Red Queen - which I know a lot of people love - and I hated it. But dragging down Sarah or the people who show their love for a book, that’s not right. And it’s a dick move.

Honestly, I loved ACOWAR. Yes. There are problems with it. Yes. It had a lot of repetition. Yes. I hated some parts and some things just didn’t feel right to me. It did seem rushed at times. I don’t agree with some things that happened. But guys, Sarah dishes out 2 books a year for us. Hell, ACOWAR was 700 pages. Plus she’d been ill. Cut her some fucking slack. She can’t please everyone, but I think she did a good job at at least trying to.

This fandom is becoming toxic. The negativity is causing people (myself included) to not want to share their own thoughts and feelings anymore, because they’re scared of people attacking them and dragging them through the dirt. Everyone should be able to share what the want, like who they want, and have their own opinion without feeling like someones going to jump down their throats. I found out this morning @lu-cien (and others) like Tamlin while i can’t stand him. Am I going to drag them down and tell them their wrong just because I don’t feel the same way? OF COURSE NOT.

I come to this site to share what I love. Both ToG and ACOTAR mean the world to me. Especially ToG as it helped me through a tough time in my life. I come here to fangirl and squeal over a book. I come to cry tears of pain and laughter with people who love something as much as I do. I come here to share my love of reading and writing with you guys. But the negativity its making it hard. Yes, there are legitimate complaints (a lot I agree with) but then there are just… “sigh”

I come to this site to share my love for these worlds and characters with everyone. I come here to feel free, and to feel like I’m about to enter a warzone.

I know this is long (I did have to rewrite this so I’m probably missing some of my original points) and I’ll probably get some hate for it. But I had to get this off my chest. I don’t want to see this fandom turn in on itself. But with all negativity, I feel like it can and it will. I’m all for positivity and letting people enjoy whatever ship they want, whatever characters they want, and feeling how they want. You want to love a book? Great. You want to hate it? Cool. Just stop attacking each other. I feel we all need to take a step back and breathe. If this fandom keeps going the way it’s going… It’ll soon destroy itself. And I don’t want to see that happen.

There’s something I’ve been needing to vent about for a while (a long while), and I’ll be putting it below the cut. This isn’t as a means to force people to read it, I assure you. It’s probably gonna get a bit long, which is why I feel the need for a cut (also, if anybody just wants to scroll on by, they can do it with ease). So yeah, read or don’t read. It’s up to you. These are just my thoughts, a need to express them openly and nothing more. You are free to feel differently, and if it pisses you off, I accept that….

But I’m tired. So unbelievably tired of entitled fans.

2016 is (finally) coming to an end so I thought I’d jump on the bandwagon and make my own follow forever. This year has not been the best but being here and being a part of this fandom with you guys has definitely made it a lot more bearable.

I would like to thank every single one of my followers for liking, reblogging, commenting and just being there for me whenever I’ve need you. It truly means the world to me. I would also like to thank everyone wonderful and talented person on this list for making my dash such a beautiful and magical place.

Anyways, happy new year and here’s to a better 2017!

Canon? I don’t need no stinkin’ canon.

Random thought of the day: we don’t need anybody to make our ships or our stories or any of our artworks “legitimate.” We own our own servers and we wrote the stories, all the stories, not just one way but every damn way, and we’re gonna do it again tomorrow, no matter who likes it or doesn’t.

I was talking to a friend the other day, and I realized that one of the things I loved about coming up in old skool slash fandom was that we were the part of fandom that started avoiding industry events and actor cons and started putting together fan-only events. We weren’t waiting around to have our ships validated by anyone, but also there were no winners and no losers when it came to ships; you could have cake AND ice cream, all day, every day, and brownies tomorrow; oysters today and clams Thursday. It wasn’t like soaps or mainstream TV where you were waiting to see if Luke and Laura or Maddie and David or whoever was “really” was going to get together; in fandom, we control what’s real. And while I am so so happy that the world has changed to the point that it is possible–in fact, inevitable–that one or more of our queer ships will someday become canon in some version of a favorite universe (we are just waiting for the generation for which this is just basic reality to ascend to the position of giving the green light to these stories), at the same time I don’t want to give any of the control of my own happiness over to The Powers That Be, who, no matter how creative, are for-profit business with an eye toward the bottom line which is going to affect their creative decisions.

Olicity Fans, Long Time No See: Time for A Dose of Random Fandom Tea

Ok folks, I know that I’ve been relatively quiet on Tumblr about Arrow season four thus far. Blame this Xkit foolery that has been a pain in the ass that I simply didn’t have the patience to deal with.  Luckily, Baby Brat got tired of my bitching and fixed it for me.

Which brings us to today’s gathering for a long overdue chat with my peeps. To say that I needed a 24-hour period to decompress after the Arrow portion of the crossover, would be an understatement. I think I’ve been sent every meta and review that the Olicity fandom could get their hands on. I can’t read anymore. I love you guys, but please stop sending it. I surrender.

I’ve always been the type of person that considers the thoughts and opinions of others, but at the end of the day, I have my own take on things. My lens will also come with a lifetime of personal experiences that inform how I view the world and interpret things.

This may not come as a surprise to those of you that know me, but I disagree with just about everyone and everything I’ve read. Don’t get me wrong, some of you came pretty damn close but didn’t quite hit the mark on certain aspects of the Oliver and Felicity scenes.

Calling All Captain Swan Writers:

Since hiatus can often be a long, monotonous cycle of waiting for the show to return and trying to find inspiration to write, I thought it might be fun to have a fandom-wide writing game that everyone can play.

How does it work?

Every day at 8 PM EST, I will announce the theme for the day. You will have the following twenty-four hours to write something (a drabble, one-shot, whatever you want) that fits that theme. It’s open to your own interpretation, so don’t feel like you need to follow an obvious path. The prompt could be anything, from a word, to a picture, or a song lyric. It’s up to you to decide how you want it to relate to Killian and Emma. Once you’ve completed your drabble or one-shot, submit it to me and I will post it anonymously.

Why post anonymously?

The point of this experiment is not only to challenge ourselves as writers, but to read the works of other writers in the fandom without being influenced by knowing which URL is attached to which post. Anonymous posting levels the playing field so that everyone’s work can be read and enjoyed. Before I announce the new theme, I will post a masterlist of the submissions from the previous day, which will be sort of like an answer key, showing who wrote what.

How can I join?

All you have to do is reblog this post and follow this blog. Once you follow the blog, be sure to read the rules so you have a better idea of how things will go. If you still have questions, don’t hesitate to message me so that I can clear them up for you. There is no deadline in joining, you can decide to jump in any time you like.

Do I have to write every day?

Not at all. The point of this challenge is to work on your skills and, granted, that may be a little difficult if you don’t write often, but it’s understandable that life gets in the way, or the inspiration isn’t there, so if you miss a day or two, you can always pick it back up whenever you want.

The first prompt will go up at 8 PM EST on Wednesday, 10 June, 2015.

“They could’ve at least sold it to ENGLISH singers!”

“5sos fucking sold teenage queen to some Korean shit heads like no”

“i can’t believe they sold it to a japanese band” “they’re korean” “same thing”

“teenage queen would of been a poppin ass song if 5sos kept it but some korean asians motherfuckers have it now”

“‘5sos sold teenage queen to a jap band’ i thought this fandom listens to english songs not some ching chang chong shit”

“why have some shit boyband bought teenage queen and released it as their own in their fucking shit language, I’m so annoyed”

wOW no this is so fucking uncalled for and you people really need to stop

i’m sorry that you guys might never get to hear 5sos’s version

every fan of every artist knows what it’s like to never get a full studio version of something yeah it sucks

and i understand that some of you might not like donghae & eunhyuk’s version… you’re completely entitled to that opinion

but you’re certainly not entitled to disrespect and throw insults at two talented and hardworking people you know absolutely nothing about

there’s literally no need for all of these hateful and racist comments what the fuck i’m actually disgusted

Let me get this "straight"

Every show has an LGBT fandom of a canon or a non-canon couple, there are even irl ships of two artists of the same sex and EVERY.FUCKING.SHOW/PERFORMER takes that in good spirit.
Yes, the couple may not become part of the writers’ plot, but they know that representation is important, so you can find pictures of the actors goofing around or interviews of them discussing the possible relationships acknowledging the relevance of the opinions that exist outside of their canon bubble. They know it’s not going to happen, but they also know that people need this encouragement and validation.

To the Creampuffs

Just my opinion, but I have experienced it with another ship, and I feel like it’s the same with this one. Hollstein and Negovanman are not the same. Hollstein is perfectly okay to ship, go ahead, ship it as hard as you can because they’re beautiful together.

But am I the only one who feels like shipping Negovanman is doing more damage than anything else? They have lives outside of Carmilla and tbh, I feel like some people (hopefully none in this group) don’t respect them asmuch as they want to by creeping on their every word, their every action so much that Natasha just felt the need to state that she did not unfollow Elise.
There’s a pressure that comes with being so popular, they know that, but I thought our fandom wouldn’t pressure them this much into anything…

I think that if people stop being so freaky (and creepy) and would just allow them their privacy, they would be even more open.

They’re just people like us okay? Give them their privacy. Their own lives. Their own relationships and friends. Thank you.

The idea of an entire month to celebrate Loki that just happens to fall on Black History month and Femslash February is really disgusting to me.  The thing is this seems to be a response to Thor Week and fine whatever if you must celebrate an already popular character do it on a month that isn’t already about celebrating the underappreciated contributions, struggles and erasure of blacks in history and when Tumblr is trying to celebrate femslash.

I’m going to get hate for this even though I’m leaving it untagged but I don’t care because not saying something is physically making me ill and I’ll tell you why.

A list of reasons why we need to focus on Black History month and/or Femslash February.

  1. I’ve blogged about the misogynoir that’s directed to black female characters. (Included in that tag are links to Uhura hate, Angel/Zoe Kravitz hate, and Sally Donovan hate)
  2. The racism directed at black actors, Donald Glover and Tamara Mowry.
  3. fandom’s exclusion of canon black characters. James ‘Rhodey’ Rhodes aka War Machine/Iron Patriot and Eve Moneypenny.
  4. The fact that fandom would rather ship white incest dudeslash ships (and white dudeslash in general) instead of interracial dudeslash ships is racism plain and simple. (And highlights the need for more femslash).
  5. The fandom expectation that even a Good Guy like Steve Rogers/Captain America should exhibit racist attitudes negates the fact that he was not written as a racist person. And it makes racists feel better about themselves when they attribute such shitty behavior to good guys.  It highlights the fact that we as a society need to understand more about whitewashed history and that a single month for Black History isn’t enough. (I just checked the notes on that and they are a mess of ppl defending the racist OP). Racism (whether historical or not) should not be attributed to good guys in the name of “historical accuracy” for the sake of humor because it makes fans feel better about their own racism.
  6. The violence against women in Teen Wolf and Supernatural affects the way these fandoms treats these women.
  7. Why we need more black representation. 1, 2.
  8. The inclusion of white villain Loki at the expense the Black Widow and Nick Fury
  9. And some thoughts about fandom and woc.

I think what troubles me the most is that you are asking ppl in fandoms to choose where to spend their efforts.  That making a choice what to support comes down to every single reblog about whether you are going to promote one of your favorite characters (and the actor that plays him who happens to be a white cishet male) or are you going to be a good ally/and work towards poc solidarity by reblogging more about Black History?  Or are you going to instead help promote femslash which is underappreciated and underrepresented?

It comes down to white privilege to assume that these aren’t conflicts of interest.  Before you walk away from this post (I’m not trying to instigate hate towards the mods of Loki Month because that could lead to a persecutorial mentality) I ask you to examine how you would feel if someone asked you to choose between being supportive of your friends.  Which friend do you love more? Care more about? Loki Month is about forcing these choices down fandom/tumblrs throat.  Instead of taking turns being supportive of each others fandoms we have to compete for the attention even among our own f-list.

Last word on why we need femslash:

But for all its transformative nature, fanfiction and fandom still suffer from a real dearth of femslash. Beyond the simple fact that very few girls exist in canon materials, the societal emphasis on the male gaze seems to have affected fanficcers’ creativity to such an extent that even in our own fantasies, we cannot give women a fair shake. Just as the answer to “Why is there so much slash?” cannot be boiled down to “ Well, straight girls are horny”, the answer to “Why isn’t there any femslash?” cannot be boiled down to “Well, straight girls don’t care.” The bias against female characters and female pleasure is an ingrained, institutionalized problem which won’t go away on its own. x

And the last reason on why we need to shift the focus back to Black History Month.

The problem is that white people see racism as conscious hate, when racism is bigger than that. Racism is a complex system of social and political levers and pulleys set up generations ago to continue working on the behalf of whites at other people’s expense, whether whites know/like it or not. Racism is an insidious cultural disease. It is so insidious that it doesn’t care if you are a white person who likes black people; it’s still going to find a way to infect how you deal with people who don’t look like you. Yes, racism looks like hate, but hate is just one manifestation. Privilege is another. Access is another. Ignorance is another. Apathy is another. And so on. So while I agree with people who say no one is born racist, it remains a powerful system that we’re immediately born into. It’s like being born into air: you take it in as soon as you breathe. It’s not a cold that you can get over. There is no anti-racist certification class. It’s a set of socioeconomic traps and cultural values that are fired up every time we interact with the world. It is a thing you have to keep scooping out of the boat of your life to keep from drowning in it. I know it’s hard work, but it’s the price you pay for owning everything. x

Another issue with Loki Month’s timing is that it’s going to get ten times the attention that either Femmeslash February or black history month will. MCU!Loki, who falls into the category of Pretty White Wooby Man, is already one of Tumblr’s favorite white male actors, Tom Hiddleston, and thus increasing the fest’s visibility. I also wouldn’t rule out the fact that doing Loki Month means straight white fans aren’t going to have to look at queerphobia and the history of the US black community in the face.

Look, I don’t think we’re saying that Loki Month shouldn’t be a thing, just that it should be scheduled for a different time.

“ EXO fandom is so funny. I remember when they was saying their official collor was red (even before the debut), then they said Mirotic was a EXO song, now they are using "AKTF” (a motto that cassies uses for many years as to express our feelings of hope that one day DBSK will have back the five members) for current EXO situation - and it is not even the same situation: DBSK history is something and EXO history is another thing; I’ve seen people saying that Yunho and Changmin were treinees to be EXO members! And also I’ve seen someone talking who thought Jaejoong was a EXO member. (Seriously?? DBSK boys debuted 9 years before EXO ヽ(≧Д≦)ノ Saying that Yunho and Changmin were EXO trainees doesn’t even make sense! — I’ll not even talk about that person who thought that Jae was EXO member).
I wonder why it has to be TVXQ/Cassiopeia stuff?
I mean, EXO has its own history and its own personality, right?
Why do some fans have to relate ANYTHING to them/their fandom? (Even the ferry disaster turned into something related to EXO!)
I wish they had more mature fans, really. I believe there is a lot of cool, respectful, nice and matured fans, but some of them can’t live and behave by themselves, they need to copy, steal and borrow things from other fandoms?
I think every fandom has to have its own story, not borrow things not related to them.
I’m upset because of people turning our hope and faith source into something else… don’t u know how much our motto means to us?? How can u dare to do something like that with us?

EXO fan asked to me to understand them (for using AKTF as their motto)
my answer:
yeah they have to fight by themselves - like HOT fans/ changjos/ cassies/ elfs/ hottets and so many other fandoms who had suffered - maybe starting with their own motto to instill strength and pride, not turning someonelse stuff into their own, changing the meaning and disregarding others’ history.
You asked to me to understand them, but you guys need to understand us too. TVXQ split is a wound that bleeds since 2009.”

Dear Sam and Caitriona...

So it seems your confused by a few thing s in your newfound fame…such as people poking around your private lives, shipping, social media,  etc…so I thought I’d make a little list to help you guys out. Clearly no one in your lives is helping so…maybe we can.

1. You signed up for this. Yeah, that sounds really really harsh. I get that. But it is what it is. Giving up some privacy is the price you pay for fame. Yes, it’s horrible and unfair and not right and hardly good defence for it but it is how it works. You don’t have to enjoy it, and yes I’m sure it takes some time to adjust but it what it is and bitching about it really doesn’t work.

2. But the really cool thing is…now with social media, YOU get a say as to what that private life can look like! Yeah, with twitter, facebook, instagram, you suddenly have some control as to what the public gets to see and not see. You get to choose to put some things out there (like some celebs take the step to post the first picture of a newborn, some post a selfie with a new boyfriend…) instead of paps, fans and such and such digging for it. You control the story and it makes it a lot less impactful of story.

3. And on that note…if you don’t want people shipping you, maybe you should…stop acting like you’re together? I  get that there’s some flirting that PR calls for but if you’re really want people to think you’re not together maybe you shouldn’t be making comments about how Cait’s boobs are awesome, or about how you already knew Sam was the sexiest man alive.  Or favouriting a whole bunch of a tweets that suggest more than friendly feelings and even a straight up relationship. You don’t have to fave those. Plenty of celebs get those kind of tweets and ignore them. That is an option. Maybe if you stopped doing that, people wouldn’t think you’re together.

4. You controlled this narrative. Fans didn’t just randomly decide to ship you together. And yeah, some shippers read too much into photoshoots and the such but the fantasy narrative, you played into it and I find it hard to believe you didn’t know it the whole time.

5. Your friends need to respect your privacy too. Yeah, I get it. Your friends are your friends and you have lives and they want to be able to tag you and share things with you. But the second they tag you, your private lives with them…your vacations you don’t post about, your dinners out, your nights out…all of that becomes easy for fans to find. They have to stop that if you’re so keen on keeping things private. Yeah it sucks for them but it’s the best way to handle it. I have a celebrity friend (more famous than both of you…combined). More importantly, I have numerous friends who are really close with him…and when they go out, they don’t mention him. They don’t tag him in pics (even if he’s clearly in them), they don’t talk about plans. There are times I know he’s out with people, 100% know and they’ll tag everyone else BUT him. So fans don’t see every single thing he does and he get some control as to what’s out there. It’s not hard.

6. Shipping is NORMAL. You don’t have to like it. You can’t be blamed for not liking it (although you may have thought of that before you encouraged it). If it makes you uncomfortable, I don’t blame you. I’m sure it makes me celeb friend uncomfortable when he’s shipped with his former costar. But it’s normal. It happens in every fandom. You can ignore it. You can pretend it’s not happening. And if you feel the need to deny it, that’s fine…deny it. You don’t have to insult fans for believing in a fantasy of your own making.

7. Stay out of fandom. Fandom is not for you. It is NOT about you. It is for the fans and you don’t need to be getting involved in it.

8. You’re tired of this conversation??? REALLY?? Outlander premiered not even two years ago and you’re already exhausted with fans talking about your chemistry and the idea you could be together?? Really?????? You’re hardly famous. You’re brand new at this. You don’t get to bitch about being tired of a conversation. Not when you very much started that conversation, partook in that conversation and even had friends who inserted themselves in the conversation. No, you be happy that people are talking about you. And if you want the conversation to stop, ignore it. Simple as that. (and yes I know this may have been taken out of context but it didn’t need to be said at all). Be grateful that you have fans at all.

So to summarize…if you want people to stop talking about your private lives, take control of what people see…and if you don’t want people to think you’re together, don’t let what people see be very very much that you like to act like you’re together.  And when people want to believe you are anyway, let them have the damn fantasy. It’s simple as that.

Thinking on that Hamilton Fanfiction Discussion from earlier...

A/N: For the sake of clarity, I’m going to be differentiating between Musical Hamilton (work that, at its core, is fanfiction of Lin Manuel Miranda’s musical first) and Historical Hamilton (work that, whether using the musical timeline or actual historical text, is primarily concerned with recreating the RP from our history books) fanfiction.

While looking at fic today, I noticed the lack of primarily Musical fiction, in spite of the fact that all the fic was classified as Hamilton-Musical fandom. Even the modern au fic didn’t acknowledge the fact that the musical presents the founding fathers specifically as not-white. At most they tend to reference lyrics from the musical directly, or translate ‘modern’ language into 'curses a lot’.

Also worthy of note: Although all of the fic is about the musical, most characters weren’t physically described. (I’ve written before about how bodies are described more frequently in fanfiction connected to how tactile fanfiction tends to be, but I’m too lazy to look for it right now). If it were not for the tags and a general timeline, there is nothing that makes most of this fiction uniquely Musical Hamilton.

This isn’t to say that specifically brown fanfiction doesn’t exist- I’ve read it, I’ve mused on it. But it’s not present on the major fiction sharing websites.

Talking with everyone else today for a few minutes, I noticed a few different possibilities, which I think are all true to a certain extent. I tried to come up with some possible solutions as well. I’m open to thoughts.

Good God, the wank. Definitely a good day to back away from fandom and do what I generally do, which is just work on my own stuff, do my own thing, and wait until it’s safe to come out and play again.

Someone I don’t know emailed me today to ask if I felt threatened by the new demigod in our midst. The answer is no. He can do his own thing, just like everyone else in fandom can. I don’t think that one person’s popularity takes away from anyone else’s. Well - I guess if no one reads my next fic, maybe I’ll change my tune (ha!), but it just doesn’t work that way, too. There isn’t a limited amount of love to go around, or a limited amount of readership. Every fandom needs multiple authors, multiple artists. It’s not about “best” or any other superlative - we’re all here because we love the thing and we’re here sharing the love. I could say a lot of feminist things regarding a bunch of women worshipping a male newcomer, because I do have some thoughts about that, but this isn’t just that. People should like what they like, as long as they like it on their own merits and not because some herd mentality told them that they had to. Then again, the latter isn’t really on me to judge, either. If you want to be a sheep, be a sheep. Glory in being a sheep. It’s your choice. I guess what I’m saying is, I really don’t care, haha. I don’t mean that in a negative way - I just don’t have any strong feelings about it. If you’re excited, be excited! If you’re indifferent, be indifferent. If you’re something else, good: be that. We’re all here because it’s a hobby and a passion at the same time, so we all need to do fandom the way we want to, yeah?

Sermon over. I’ll be my in corner. Current fic is at 15,500 and still going. :)
