i think more than someone to take care of him he needs someone to protect him

The Seventh Wheel: A Case for Black Lion Lance

Alternatively titled: Lance Deserves The World Because He is My Son and I Love Him

Okay, so Shiro’s gone and someone’s gotta fill his big ass shoes. In the toss-up between him, Allura, and Keith, I’m going to be arguing in this post that Lance could be the guy to do it. And, fair warning, this is going to be ridiculously (like, ridiculously) long lmao so here’s the TL;DR right now: I think that a) Lance already shows the character traits of a good leader, and b) there’s a good chance of him becoming one, given his impending character arc.

It also has a chance of not happening, of course, but who cares?? I already started writing this thing, so:

Alright, let’s begin at the beginning, because that’s always a good place to start.

Lance is first introduced to the audience as the classic loud, arrogant, goofy flirt. The perfect comic relief character. He rescues a guy because his “rival” was gonna do it first and he can’t have that, the first thing he does in the giant robot cat is fart, and he hits on a girl who just fell out of a pod in a magic castle. He’s there to make you laugh.

I can’t imagine anyone looking at a character like that and “You know what? This guy could be a leader.” Allura says it herself in episode 1. The black lion is supposed to be the decisive head of Voltron, a person who’s a natural born leader, who’s in control, and,

Basically, calm, collected, and respected. “A natural born leader.” So, definitely not Lance. Case closed.

But, not really. Because Lance actually is calm and collected. He’s just not respected. He has all the leadership traits– the problem is that he’s not treated as someone who could be a leader.

OKAY SUPERCORP/KARAMEL RANT

**Please read** This all really needs to be said. However, before I go further I want you all to understand that this isn’t meant to be a hate paragraph or to purposefully put those who like Mon-El and/or Karamel down. At this point, all the disagreeing and fighting will do nothing. So I’m asking kindly that if you’re going to add something to this post- that it is filled with positive intent.

 Anyhow, to my point:

I do watch Supergirl by the way, but I truly believe this concerns a wide variety of people. Whether you’re a fan of The 100, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, The Walking Dead, or just a person living your life… All I hope is that we all try to grasp the reality of what is truly going on. Now I will centralize this long rant towards Supergirl however. For those of you who don’t know what is going on there is a conflict between fans who ship this character, Mon-El, together with Supergirl/Kara and fans who ship Lena Luthor with Supergirl/Kara. Now, in my humble opinion, the big issue isn’t about straight v.s lgbt people and I will go on about that later… but the fact that she is with someone like Mon-El. Now what do I mean by ‘someone like Mon-El’… before certain people get mad I want to emphasize that I’m simply pointing out what happened in the show.

This is long as hell just fyi.

1) The way Mon-El reacts to most things is through violence. In fact, the moment he wakes up he chokes Kara. And there’s this:

(his words in white)

And the scene where Mon-El robs Brian; using his powers for selfish reasons.

He even calls her names. And notice how he does this the moment Kara disagrees with him. A reaction that does more harm than good. On the other hand, when Kara and Lena disagree on something (in ep. 2x03) they simply talk it out. They ask questions, explain, clarify, and come to an understanding.

Now, I’m not here to say that I have NEVER agreed with anything Mon-El has said, actually I applaud him for accepting Maggie and Alex’s relationship the way he did, but that’s just the thing. The opinions/beliefs he has don’t come from himself. Most of what he thinks is based off of what he’s seen on Daxam. He really isn’t at all mature. He isn’t by any means and it’s simply the truth. Now hear me out-

This is what I mean by he isn’t mature: How many times has Kara asked him politely and specifically not to do something but without hesitation still does it? And how many times has he had to beg for forgiveness?

In addition, he doesn’t have knowledge of what respect truly means. What’s interesting though about this scene in particular- is how it’s supposed to be a ‘funny’ scene. Mon-El’s character is written in as ‘funny’ and ‘aloof’… but it sends a poisonous message- that Kara’s feelings aren’t to be taken seriously. And this show is literally supposed to be about her. Not a guy who thinks it’s his duty to ‘defend her honor’ and then complains about it.

Now I know that this was how people on Daxam acted and their way of life was for the most part, sexist, racist, etc. But that still doesn’t give him an excuse to act the way he does.

2) Lena herself comes from a family with twisted values as well. She is adopted into the Luthor family and has had close to no friends most of her life. And yet she’s still capable of being a perfectly decent person.

She does save the alien population not once, but twice. So not only is Lena proved time and time again that she’s a good person, but her relationship with Kara (btw I call it a ‘relationship’ just like the writers do)… is not even close to toxic, detrimental, or abusive. It’s the complete opposite.

Protect yourself”

“I can take care of myself”

3) Being in a healthy relationship is about the effort between two willing people… at the same time, knowing your boundaries whilst encouraging one another.

4) Kara deserves someone who fully acknowledges her efforts and is grateful for them

Panic races through your veins and fills up your airway, causing your breathing to double itself, chest heaving in an attempt to calm yourself down. No, this can’t be happening, you chant to yourself over and over. The clock on your laptop is glaringly bright in the near darkness of your room, and the numbers burn themselves into the back of your eyelids. When you close your eyes, the uncomfortable stinging of your contact lenses makes your eyes water and at this point they might as well be tears of desperation.

It’s not like you’ve never had writer’s block before, you reason with yourself. You just have to start writing and edit along the way. Your own voice of reason is drowned out by the anxiety that echoes all the possible consequences of not acing this paper. It’s nearly 4 am and the essay you have so far in front of you is not enough to get an A, you know it in your bones but you can’t come up with anything better either. You could just submit this as it is, but anything less than an A on this paper would pull you down from the cusp of that ever elusive first class honours. And you can’t afford to graduate with anything less than that. The very thought of it sends a fresh chill of panic that creeps down your spine and jolts your fingers into a typing frenzy, spilling thoughts and ideas onto your screen till you reach the end of the page.

But when you read over what you’ve written, it doesn’t make sense at all, just incoherent rambling sentences strung together into a never ending paragraph. In frustration you shove your laptop away from you and push back your chair, reaching for your keys and phone. Sneaking a peek at your roommate’s still form across the room, you let yourself out of the room silently, feeling your tensed shoulders relax immediately as the cool night air embraces you with open arms.

It’s a little chilly to be out in just a long shirt and sleep shorts, but since there’s no one awake to catch you dressed like this, it’s the least of your concerns for now. The balcony that is attached to your room affords a little privacy, and it’s one of the perks of occupying the corner room on this floor. The tranquillity of the cold, autumn night directly contrasts with the millions of theories and concepts running through your mind, and any attempts at clearing your mind are failing pathetically. The residential halls are eerily silent at this time of the night, and as you glance down over the protective railings, you consider how easy it would be to just climb over, just one leg over and then-

“Late night?” You whirl around at the interruption of a raspy, gruff voice sounding from behind you. Your eyes are met with a figure clothed in an oversized sweatshirt and jeans, but it’s only when you squint in the darkness to survey his face that you realise who he is.

A lot of people apparently think it’s a valid statement when they say that Stiles and Derek hated each other, and I wholeheartedly say, you’re wrong.

I’d like to call this my masterpost for proof that Stiles and Derek did, indeed, care for one another very much. I may not list all, but I will list the ones I find the most notable:

1. Stiles getting in Chris Argent’s face about Kate and what Kate did to Derek and his family. A lot of people look pass this scene, just a mere glance, but it truly caught my attention. I don’t think this has ever been addressed by Stiles before this scene, but in a part of Formality, Chris began questioning Stiles on what he had to do to tame Scott (trying to argue for why werewolves should be taken down) and Stiles brought up the Hale fire and immediately got upset and rather infuriated at what had happened. He knew what Kate did, knew what it did to Derek and it got to him. And that’s what got to me.

2. The iconic pool scene.

Firstly, Derek told Stiles to go protect himself, ready to fight by himself.

Now, of course, Stiles did not listen.

Secondly- wait, do I really need to explain why this scene is so important?

Stiles went back for Derek, who he claimed to hate, and saved him, kept him from drowning. (Totally screwed up his phone in the process but whateves.)

This is still one of the most notable Sterek scenes.

3. Derek saving Stiles from getting killed by Isaac.

4. Derek also protected Stiles from Peter in the hospital scene.

5. This scene.

What really got me about this one is that Stiles wasn’t that close to Boyd. He hardly even knew Boyd, but what he did know was how much Boyd meant to Derek.

What he knew was that Derek needed comfort, and he gave it in the slightest way.

It wasn’t much, just a hand on the shoulder, but he did it. He did it and this scene showed that he cared, that he was there for Derek.

6. Derek trusting Stiles over his own girlfriend.

Not to mention that later on in the episode, when Jennifer stated that she could be the only one to take them to Stiles’ dad, Derek went into full attack mode.

7. Derek being protective over Stiles, ready to chase after him because he knew what Stiles was going to do would be risky.

8. The elevator scene.

Reminder that this scene was an episode after the argument they had, on the same day and possibly an hour apart at most.

What really got me about this scene was the worry on Stiles’ face when he saw Derek laying there. He just stopped all together for a moment before moving in to help.

The evident panic in his voice as he kept on telling Derek to wake up just warmed my heart.

9. Derek was incredibly hesitant in taking Stiles down while the Nogistune had taken over him. He hardly even suggested it.

10. Stiles worrying about Derek in season 4, after he got taken. He even refused to leave without finding Derek.

11. Stiles hesitating to go save his own best friend because Derek was close to dying.

This one scene basically saved season 4. This one scene broadcasted just how much Stiles truly cares for Derek.

Guys, he hesitated to save his own best friend. Understand how major that is.

Stiles only left when Derek told him to go, demanded it, and even than he still wasn’t sure and looked back once more before going.

This scene was so significant, probably the most significant Sterek scene ever.

12. Everyone looking at Stiles before Derek left.

This may not seem like a big deal, but I take this as his friends understanding just how much Derek means to him. He had to watch Derek walk away and I feel like they got it, it just clicked.

13. Stiles smiling at Derek’s initials.

The fact that something as simple as Derek’s initials had Stiles stopping just to smile really means something.

And if that wasn’t enough to prove how much he missed Derek, remember the following episode when Scott brought Derek up?

Stiles’ pause and the look on his face and the look on Scott’s face like he knew something, knew that Derek meant more to Stiles than Stiles was saying.

14. Stiles is Derek’s anchor.

Anchor. Anchor.

This is important.

An anchor being someone you feel safe and secure around, someone who can pull you back, someone meaningful.

Stiles was that for Derek, and if that’s not enough to prove just how much Derek cares for and appreciates Stiles, I don’t know what is.

In conclusion, you can say whatever you want about Sterek but do not deny how important they were to each other. It’s ridiculous and not even an argument. In the beginning, they probably hated each other but now? You’re only playing yourself if you’re really trying to argue that they mean nothing to each other.

anonymous asked:

I know you probably have a lot of requests with the gods and monsters - but would you ever do an Ares based one?

Zeus’s mistress Io remains in her form of a cow, guarded by Hera’s servant Argus, and Hera is content.

She will remain in that form until her death. Hera hopes that lying with her husband was worth the sacrifice.

Zeus won’t speak to her, unwilling to admit the cow is actually his lover and ensure her death, and equally unwilling to stand against his wife to try and rescue her. Hera has him just where she wants him, and it can’t last, it never does, but she intends to enjoy it while it does.

Then Artemis comes to her, gold and fierce. She never flinches away from her queen, staring her in the face as if she is nothing more than another of her huntresses. If Hera did not hate her for being her husband’s daughter, she thinks she might actually like the girl. “Io has a destiny,” she says, “you must let her go.”

“I don’t care for her destiny,” Hera says idly, “especially when that destiny involves getting with my husband’s child.”

“She is to give birth to a new line of kings,” Artemis hisses, “to be the wife of a death god, to be mother goddess of a whole new people. She is not meant for us. You must let her go.”

“I am Hera,” she says, “I am Queen. I must do nothing.”

Artemis growls, hand twitching for her bow, but Hera only raises an eyebrow. Let the girl try. There are few that can stand against her, and the huntress is not among them. Artemis lets out a low breath and says, “Do it, my queen, and I will grant you what it is you most desire.”

“Some peace and quiet?” Hera asks.

“A child,” she answers. “Let Io go, let her fulfill her destiny as a goddess of the Black Land of the Nile. If you do that, I, the patron goddess of childbirth, will personally use every ounce of power I possess to ensure you conceive and deliver a child of Zeus.”

Hera’s eyes narrow, “Neither my power nor his has ever been able to achieve this. What makes you think you are any different?”

“We all have our domains,” she says, “just as you cannot command the sea, just as your husband has no power over the art of weaving, so can I ensure a healthy child when you could not.”

She taps her fingers against her throne. They call her a mother goddess, though she’s raised no children. Hephaestus may be her precious son, but he doesn’t know that it was not her that threw him from Olympus. Very few people know that. And she didn’t raise him regardless, that honor belongs to Hecate.

A child, of her and Zeus. A child she can raise.

“I accept,” she announces. “You may take her, and Zeus may fulfill her destiny.” She leans forward, brings the oppressive weight of her power to the fore and lowers the pressure of the air until Artemis is left shivering. “Know this, Patron Goddess of Childbirth. If Io births a son of Zeus before I do, I will travel to the Black Land of the Nile and slay her and her children with my own two hands. Not even Hades will be able to put her back together again.”

“Yes, my Queen,” Artemis says, unable to keep her teeth from chattering.

~

Hera is true to her word. She allows Hermes to think he’s tricked Argus and to steal Io away. She pretends to be outraged at the audacity, at the pure white cow traveling to the sands of the Nile.

Artemis is true to her word. Hera lies with Zeus, like she has so many times before, and a child grows inside of her. One day she stands before her husband and brings his hand to the swell of her stomach, “This is your child.”

Something almost like happiness steals across his face. She forgets, sometimes, that they hate each other only as much as they love each other. After so much time together, many would think it would be one or the other. They simply opted for both.

Artemis is there during the birth, her easy confidence more comforting then Hera will ever admit. Delivering Hephaestus was easy compared to this. She screams and cries and Hestia’s hands on her shoulders are all that keeps her from collapsing and begging someone to just cut the child from her. She doesn’t think she can die in childbirth, not with Artemis between her legs. She wishes she’d thought to ask before this began.

But she does not die. Her son is born, just as healthy and beautiful as Hephaestus was. “Well done,” Artemis says softly, placing the squirming child into her arms.

Zeus touches her hair and kisses his son’s forehead. “We shall call him Ares.”

“Very well,” she agrees, so tired her eyes struggle to stay open.

She hands her son to Hestia, and finally allows sleep to take her.

~

Ares grows into the spitting image of his father. Same copper-red skin, same silky black hair. Her husband keeps it short, but her son lets his grow long. The minutes Hera spends every morning brushing his hair are among her favorite.

He has an eager smile and a soft heart. Hera doesn’t know where he got it, since it’s certainly not from her or Zeus. Demeter tolerates his bumbling after her, though any time Kore attempts to meet her cousin Demeter’s temper frays. Poseidon allows Ares to explore the depths of the sea with a minor sea god acting as his guide. Apollo plays for him, and Artemis teaches him to hunt. Zeus’s lightning doesn’t burn his son, and when storms rage he takes Ares to the top of Olympus and teaches him to throw lightning bolts.

Hera selfishly does not allow Ares to go to the underworld. She knows he would be safe there, that Hades would protect him as he protected Hephaestus, but that’s precisely why she won’t allow it. They got to raise one of her sons already. It pains her to share Ares with them now.

He is happy, and kind, kinder than anyone would expect a child of her womb to be.

“He must choose a domain,” Zeus rumbles, watching Ares shoot arrows with perfect accuracy.

“He is a child still,” Hera says, “let him remain so for a little longer.”

“If he does not choose a domain,” Zeus warns, “one will choose him. We are gods. We must be gods of something.”

She flickers her gaze at him, and he scoots an inch away from her. “He is a child, and for now a child he will remain. We are not Demeter. We shall not thrust the responsibilities and power of a deity on a child who is not prepared for it.”

Zeus disapproves, but says nothing more.

Her son will be the god of something patient, something soft. The god of lost children, of heartbroken suitors, of forgiveness. Something where his gentle heart will aid him instead of hurt him.

She traded her happiness for power. She doesn’t regret it. But Ares doesn’t need to do the same – she’s the most powerful goddess that still walks the earth. He’s her son, and he’ll want for nothing she can provide.

~

Ares is almost fully grown, long hair reaching his hips even braided, and the strength of his limbs is such that he can keep up with Artemis on her most vigorous of hunts, that he can throw his father’s lightning bolts halfway across the world.

He’s been to every place, and met every god of the earth, sea, and sky.

Except for one.

It’s not hard to find the volcano. He’s strong enough and old enough to take care of himself, and his mother does not worry when he says he’s going to the earth. But he did not tell her where, precisely, on the earth he was going.

He has strong legs.  It’s easy for him to climb to the top of the volcano. He’s almost made it there when something grabs his shoulders, stilling him. He turns, and stares into a single large eye. “What are you doing?” the cyclopes growls.

“I’m looking for Hephaestus,” he says, “He’s my brother.”

“My master has many brothers,” the cyclopes says.

Ares shakes his head. He is not the product of his father’s fling with a sprite or mortal. “I am Ares, son of Zeus and Hera. Just as Hephaestus is. I came here to meet my brother.” The cyclopes hesitates. He asks, “What’s your name?”

“Brontes,” he answers, surprised.

“Brontes,” he smiles, “I just want to meet him. I’ve never met him before. I won’t linger.”

There’s a moment where Brontes looks conflicted, and Ares tries to look as unassuming as possible. “Fine,” he huffs, “but don’t get angry at me if he dips you in lava.”

“That would be fun,” he says brightly. Lightning doesn’t burn him. So far the only thing hot enough to cause him pain is Hestia’s fire. He probably could go swimming in lava.

Brontes looks at him as if he’s slightly unhinged. He just keeps smiling.

~

There are more cyclopes underneath, and bright glittering machines that Ares can’t even begin to wrap his mind around. “Who are you?” someone demands, and a hand grabs his wrist and yanks him away from a boiling vat of lava that he’d been peering into.

He looks up at a man taller and broader than he is. He has skin almost as dark as the obsidian of his volcano, but lighter eyes. They are the color of dark amber, of molasses. “We have the same eyes,” he says happily.

Hephaestus releases him instantly. “You shouldn’t be here.”

“Why not?” he asks, “The mortals talk of you. No one else will. But you’re my brother, right?”

“You shouldn’t be here,” he repeats, “Does Zeus know where you are?”

He shrugs, taking a step closer. His brother takes a step back. He wonders if he’ll have to treat Hephaestus like a spooked horse.  “Father doesn’t keep track of where I am. Mom know I’m on earth.” Hephaestus flinches, small enough that he almost doesn’t notice. “We have her eyes, you know.”

He can’t stop starring at Hephaestus’s skin. They do not work like mortals – Demeter, Hestia, Zeus, and Hera are all different shades despite coming from the same parents. But – Ares looks so much like his father. Kore looks like Demeter. Yet Hephaestus looks nothing like their father. He can see their mother in him, in the eyes and shape of his jaw, even in how angry he is right now. He looks like Hera does when she’s about to lose her temper, lips pressed into a thin line and the careful stillness of his shoulders.

“I wasn’t trying to make you angry,” he says plaintively, “I only wanted to say hello.”

Unlike their mother, Hephaestus lets out a deep breath and seemingly all of his anger along with it. “I’ve been avoiding you.”

“Why? You don’t even know me.”

Hephaestus kicks him lightly in the shin, the pretty gold and copper of his metal legs catching his eye. “You have legs, and I do not. Hera did not throw you from Mount Olympus as she threw me.”

Ares looks hard at his brother’s face. The stories say his mother threw her son away for being ugly, but he seems just as handsome as any other god Ares has seen. His features are strong and chiseled, and he supposes that could have looked unattractive on a baby, but –

– his mother loves him. Hera loves him with a ferocity only matched by her temper, she loves him at his most mischievous and irritable, loves him when a stray thunderbolt sets Demeter’s hair on end, loves him when even Artemis and Apollo have grown tired of his antics, loves him when Athena can tolerate no more of his questions. He is her son, and so her love comes without conditions.

He doesn’t think Hera would have loved his brother any less just because of how he looked.

He also knows that if he tries to say that, it’s likely Hephaestus will push him into a lava pit.

“Well, that’s not my fault,” he says, “If you don’t want us to be brothers, can’t we at least be friends?”

Hephaestus’s face softens. He looks like their mother then too.  He crosses his arms, “You can’t tell your parents.”

Our parents, he thinks but doesn’t say. “Obviously. Where did you get so many cyclopes?”

The last remnants of his brother’s stern façade shatters as he throws back his head and laughs.

~

Ares is very near maturity, more adult than child, and his father constantly pressures him to choose a domain. He usually quiets with one sharp glance from his wife, but the fact remains that it is time for Ares to take his place among the gods of the pantheon, to have temples in his name and worshipers like a proper deity.

He doesn’t really want any of that.  He wants to continue hunting with Artemis, learning with Athena, building with Hephaestus.

His brother lets him help out in his workshop sometimes, if he’s very careful and does exactly as he’s told. Otherwise he sits on a table, legs swinging, and watches his brother work and tells him about what he does in the time in-between visits. He talks about their mother enough that Hephaestus doesn’t flinch at her every mention, which Ares can only consider an improvement. Sometimes Brontes will stand beside him and they’ll eat sweet buns together.

Unfortunately, all things, good and bad, must come to an end.

~

There are two giants, Otus and Ephialtes, who grow tired of hearing of the golden boy of Olympus, who grow jealous of his kindness and his beauty.

These two giants sneak onto Mount Olympus in the middle of the night, sneak into Ares’s room, and kidnap him. They’re not stupid enough to attempt to kill him. Instead, they stuff him into an urn, and seal him inside. Ares rages and fights, uses every trick he can think of to break out his prison, but none of them work.

Stuck at the bottom of the urn and seething, he can’t help but think that if he’d listened to his father and chosen a dominion he might be strong enough to free himself. But he didn’t, so he can’t, and instead he waits.

And waits.

And waits.

Days turn to weeks turn to months. He knows they’re looking for him. He knows his mother will tear apart the whole universe attempting to find him if nothing else. But – what if they can’t? What if he’s stuck in this urn for the rest of eternity?

In his darkest moments, his sorrow turns to rage. He is a god, son of Hera and Zeus, how dare they do this to him?

Then, one day, the urn opens.

Hermes peers down into it, then his face splits into a grin. “We’ve been looking for you!” He reaches down and hauls Ares out, and for a moment all he can do is blink at the glaring sun. Then his vision clears, and he sees they’re in the midst of a battle. The giants are fighting against the gods, against his parents, against the twins, against his brother. It’s bloody carnage, but – he can’t help but feel touched that all these people came looking for him. “Almost everyone offered to help find you,” he says, “but Hera didn’t want to draw too much attention to ourselves trying to sneak into their territory.”

No sooner has Hermes finished speaking than a giant barrels into his mother with sickening snap. Her shoulder slopes at a grotesque angle, but it hardly even slows her down.

“I have to help,” he says, a desperate urgency filling him. They came to help him, and now they’re getting hurt. That’s never something he’d wanted.

“Ares, wait!” Hermes calls out as he goes hurtling toward the battle. He doesn’t wait. Fighting on the ground can only do so much good, they’re strong but they’re outnumbered one hundred to one. He darts to Artemis, twisting around the bodies she’s throwing over her shoulder. “I need your bow!”

“Ares!” she says joyously, then, “What?”

“Trust me,” he says, “give me your bow.” A giant comes running towards them. Artemis flips him over her shoulder while continuing to stare at him in confusion. He’d be impressed if he wasn’t so worried. “Artemis, please!”

She hands over her bow. She moves to give him her quiver of arrows as well, but he’s already moving away from her. Next it’s to his father, who’s hurtling lightning bolts towards the swarm of giants crowding him. They’re deadly, but only so effective at close-range. He grabs a sizzling lightning bolt right from Zeus’s hand, the only being on the planet who could do that and survive, and keeps running. “Get clear!” he calls out over his shoulder. “Everyone move!”

He runs up past Hermes, needing to get to high ground for this to work. “Get everyone off the battlefield,” he says to Hermes. “Now.”

Hermes pulls a face, but by the time he makes it to the top of the mountain, the gods have shaken off most of the giants, are far enough away that he doesn’t have to worry.

He can do this. He’s Ares, the son of Hera and Zeus. He’s been trained in archery by the great huntress herself. He breaths in, and strings his father’s lightning bolt like an arrow. He pulls it back, breaths out, and lets the lightning bolt fly.

It lands in the middle of the battlefield full of confused giants. With a great clap of thunder and a burst of light, they’re all gone.

All that remains of the traitorous giants is a crater.

The gods are approaching him, his mother at a limping gait that makes his chest ache. Zeus gets to him first, grin stretched wide as he grabs him by both his shoulders. “My boy! That was magnificent!”

“Thanks,” he says. The smell of charred flesh is in the air, and it makes his stomach roll.

They kidnapped him. They stuffed him in an urn for over a year. They hurt his mom.

That doesn’t mean he enjoyed it. He never wants to do anything like that ever again.

“This was destiny,” his father says enthusiastically, and Ares has no idea what he’s talking about. “This is what you’re meant to do, son.”

He stares. He hopes it’s not.

The other gods are still at the bottom of the mountain. Artemis and Apollo each have one of his mother’s arms slung over their shoulders and are helping her up the mountain. Hermes and Hephaestus aren’t far behind.

He’s never seen his father look so proud of him. There’s a leaden pit in his stomach he can’t explain.

“In honor of my son’s great feat,” Zeus booms, his voice carrying across air, speaking with the voice of the king of the gods so his words become law, so they spread to every corner of the world, “I declare him Ares, God of War.”

Ares can’t breathe.

This isn’t what he wanted.

Descendants 2

Descendants 2 had a lot of strong points but what this post is going to focus on is the character development in all of the characters.

Mal -

Obviously this movie focused a lot on Mal. She has grown a lot from the first movie but not in a healthy way. She developed some bad habits (spelling things and people) and developed some self image issues. This is a vast difference from our defiant and confident Mal from the first movie. While I don’t like the softer Mal that was shown, even closer to the end of the movie, I like that they explored these identity issues. By the end of the movie Mal has reconnected with her roots, her group and what made her want to change in the first place. I think it leaves us with a strong Mal with more room to grow in the right direction.

Evie -

THIS IS MY GIRL! Gonna be honest, I disliked her in the first movie cause she was a ditz but my girl has come a lonngggg way. Evie grew from a superficial girl into an incredibly smart, talented and confident lady. She has a booming design business and doesn’t take crap from anyone, and right beside her for these changes was her supportive boyfriend Doug. I love the dynamic they have because they are equal to each other, she is the strong one but he will still defend her to princes, he manages her business finances and supports her dreams. BUT she is not a dainty princess and he know he isn’t her “prince” but he is her knight. I will defend this ship with. My. Life. Also, she has a big heart and is fighting for the kids that she grew up with. She is going to be a great advocate for the isle.

Jay -

Jay came a long way from his rule breaking enthusiastic lifestyle. He even obeys the smallest (and more sexist) of rules. We also saw that he became less aggressive than before. It was curious to see him as a responsible captain, and it was very fitting. Through out the rest of the movie we got to see him step up as a leader when Mal was lacking or when something needed to be said. Like when everyone was arguing he calmed them down and when Mal and Evie were chatting about her hair, he took initiative to bring them together. Jay is a born leader and is doing the one thing his father, jafar, could not. Being successful and compassionate in a leadership position. In the end when he forfeits his title as captain to Lonnie(?) so she can join the team that is him doing what is best for the team. She is strong and they needed her. He sacrificed his title for the greater good and I hope that doesn’t go unnoticed.

Carlos -

Our shy boy came a long way as well. Carlos is a more outspoken and confident person. I don’t think he lacked confidence in the first movie but I believe he was more introverted, now we see a more open Carlos who stands his ground. For example, kicking Chad out of his room repeatedly. He is dismissing a prince and gives 0 cares. We also have a slight mention of how he programmed his 3D printer to have really cool hacks and such which references his special abilities with computers. Jay can be physical, Evie can be smart, Mal can be sly and Carlos can hack. This is important. Finally we see our boy finally ask Jane out. Tbh, I didn’t see it. BUT I am not against it. The little dorks make each other happy and they make each other stronger, for Carlos he has someone to protect and for Jane she has someone who makes her feel beautiful which is not to be under-estimated.

Jane -

Jane grew in a few notable ways. She became a more involved and outspoken person than the shy, squeaky girl from the first movie. Now she is coordinating big projects and making sure the schedule is kept to. BUT she is still insecure about herself and you can tell, even the way she thought Carlos wanted to go to the party as friends until he spelled it out for her is a sign of the insecurity. Carlos makes her feel beautiful and while that isn’t the best place to get a confidence boost it is still a wonderful development for a young girls self esteem to have someone like that.

Duke -

well, he/she learned English so that is pretty impressive.

Ben -

Ben was a goodie two-shoes in the first movie. While he developed a wicked streak in the second one, he NEVER abandoned his big heart, which is what truly makes him King Ben. He was trying to tackle the life struggles of ruling a kingdom, dealing with an engagement, helping the project areas and maintaining his grades. We know he had to quit his different sports teams because he didn’t have time, the time he spent with Mal dwindled to near nothing and we know he was overwhelmed. He never complained though. Ben is a strong character who is taking care of business and while he might not be the first to throw a punch he is powerful with words before fists, and he doesn’t let his girlfriend fight all his battles for him. In the end when he still trying to seek peace, preventing what could have been a catastrophic battle, he was doing his duty as a king. He put his life on the line. His biggest development in this movie was seeing the other side of things and understanding just how abused these kids were. It is one thing to hear about it and think you know, but he never really knew.  And Uma abusing his kindness and spelling him didn’t scare him away from continuing to seek justice for these kids. Ben is a good leader.

Lonnie -

In the first movie we never really got to explore her character. We saw that she wasn’t afraid of our lil’ villains and that she was still compassionate towards them but that was it. In this movie she is introduced as a threat. She is powerful and smart just like her mother, and she may be a love interest for Jay which is a perfect math. Talk about power couple, am I right?! I look forward to seeing more of her.

NEW CHARACTERS -

Uma -

You can see the results of abuse and bullying in her personality. All she is looking for is validation. This is the entire point of “Say my name”, she wants to be acknowledged. Her dwarf rats don’t really obey her, they still challenge her constantly and call her “Shrimpy”. While she has issues, there is room for change. I really hope Disney takes the opportunity to properly show kids/people how to interact with someone who comes from that abusive background.

Harry Hook -

Dang.. Uh, not gonna lie, I am so weak to this little out law. I was practically drooling over him, and when he tickled Ben my heart skipped a beat. I could ship that, I wont cause I will be lynched, but I could. I could see him being a bigger problem in the future. He has more of a cutthroat attitude than Uma and it is clear that him and Jay have bad blood. I hope we see much more of that delectable pirate. Gil - I bet you are one that gets to leave the isle. You don’t seem inherently bad, just kinda a dunce. Definitely room for improvement.

He was the first person you noticed when you stepped out of that RV.

He was wearing a flannel and a cowboy hat, and even with one of his eyes covered up and it being dark out, you could see how bright blue they were. You didn’t know his name, but you certainly were attracted to him.

Your father, Negan, had told you to stay inside the RV while he went out there and talked to them. He had told you that he was going to kill one of them and that he didn’t want you to see that, so you needed to stay away.

“Y/N, I do not want to see you out there. Your ass better stay in here, alright?” Negan had warned you. You didn’t listen. You had heard him talking to their group, and you got curious. All you wanted to do was see what they looked like, nothing more. You opened the door slightly and peeked your head out, making the attractive boy turn his head and look at you. They all did, but he was the only one you noticed.

“Dear daughter, did I not tell you to stay inside?” Negan bellowed. You knew he was trying to scare the group- that was his way of being a big, bad leader. He intimidates everyone. And by the look of everyone’s face, they were definitely afraid.

Let me ruin you goddammit

Let’s get one thing straight. You never claimed to be a good person, never did charity work, never been the perfect daughter for your parents. And you sure as hell wasn’t someone’s little girlfriend.

You did what you want, who you wanted and slipped out of their sheets before they murmur good morning in your ear. You were a ‘no strings attached’ girl, making sure that you would never become someone’s puppet. Of course, you weren’t immune to the disease called ‘love’, your innocent high school days plagued with your naive mindset of finding the ‘one’. It still haunts you, one of the reasons your night doesn’t end with a shot of whisky and half a pack of beer. The only person who was willing to put up with you was your best friend, Jungkook.

The Transfer

The Transfer (m)

Word count: 9.4k

Genre/Warnings: language, angst, smut, dirty talk

Pairing: Hoseok x Reader

Summary: You’re a sophomore in college who always runs away from relationships. That is until you meets Jung Hoseok, the South Korean transfer who shows you what a relationship can be. Although you know it’s wrong since he’s your best friends Jimin’s new roommate.

(Again this is my old story from my Wattpad (5sos version on there) but I wanted a Hoseok story and to finish this one.) Plus I was listening to Selena Gomez’s song, Bad Liar and yeah.

Parts: two

“Kook?” you yelled threw the apartment. You waited until he answered, “Yes Puddin’?” He yelled back.

“Do you need me to wash any clothes for you? I have a little more room in the washer!”

“Yes, one second!” You heard him shuffle in his room grabbing his hamper. He walked through the den and kitchen to the laundry room. “Thank you, Puddin’.”

“You know Jimin called me Puddin’ the other day,” you said taking his clothes out and sticking them into the washing machine.

“That’s my nickname for you!” He pouted, leaning against the door frame.

It was true, ever since sixth grade. You never wanted anyone to call you by your name for some reason. You thought it might have been some teen rebellion thing. So when you came to school one day with a Harley Quinn shirt on Jungkook took that as the chance to call you puddin’ and it just stuck. You two had been best friends since and now you were in college together. It was your sophomore year at the University and you loved it. Your parents had also found the two of you an apartment close to the school, so you could “stick together,” as your parents called it. They always thought you two would end up together but you two were too close for that. You loved Jungkook but you could never be in love with him.

On Lapis and Showing Affection

Ok so I see a lot of people talking about how it always seems to be Peridot showing affection toward Lapis and that Lapis doesn’t seem to reciprocate.

Here’s why that’s false.

Lapis is not a very open person. Peridot on the other hand, has learned to be much more open with Steven, the CGs, and Lapis,

Lapis’s forms of affection and caring are either HUGE gestures

Like sacrificing her freedom in a (slightly misguided) attempt to protect her only friend at the time (Steven)

Or sometimes  it’s small, almost imperceptible things, such as being comfortable enough around someone to express herself in a new way (which is something we can pretty safely say she’s NEVER done before…free expression is not a trait Homeworld prizes, and she’s been trapped in one way or another for a long time)

And appreciate the way they express themselves…

And just generally let her guard down enough to trust them

Or it’s spending quality time with people and getting to know their interests (Like giving Earth a chance for Steven and getting into Camp Pining Hearts for Peridot)

We KNOW Lapis doesn’t trust easily. The only reason she trusts Steven is because he let her out of the mirror and healed her. She’s still very guarded around the Crystal Gems. But she lets her guard down completely around Peridot,

Study her expressions and her hand gestures. She’s genuinely relaxed (or as relaxed as she ever gets) around Peridot.

She’s also incredibly protective of Steven. When she thinks he’s trapped Peridot’s tablet she loses her mind with worry,

And then…when she realizes Steven is not trapped and everything is ok, she APOLOGIZES to Peridot for almost breaking her things, somethings 1) no one else has done to Peridot, despite a lot of her things being put in jeopardy 2) something we really haven’t seen Lapis do before.

I think that we can safely assume that her protective streak might eventually be turned to Peridot, especially given how we’ve definitely already seen it the other way around, and we know that Lapis’s other close relationship (Steven) is someone she’s genuinely protective of.

Yes, Lapis takes a while to warm up to Peridot originally, despite Peri’s multiple attempts to get her to. However…she protected her from the Ruby ship

And both asked her is she was ok and reacted to her like this >>>

AND Lapis agreed to play baseball to protect Peridot even though she though the plan sucked

While clearly not AS indicative of protective feelings toward Peridot as the entire Malachite incident is toward her feelings toward Steven, it’s still there.

Another example of Lapis’s affections is this scene:

Peridot is so clearly excited about doing a victory pose and Lapis’s response is to agree to it, in a tone that implies she thinks it’s adorable.

Of course, you could argue that all these things are  just Lapis humoring Peridot for Steven’s sake, but the “meep morp” incident happens before Steven arrives, they’re showing him finished products. Same goes for the sunrise scene. And camp pining hearts. And growing a garden together. And everything that happens in “The New Crystal Gems”

Not everyone shows love and affection through physical touch. Lapis seems to be the kind that shows her affection through the time she spends with people she cares about. (Quality Time love language). This can be said for both Steven and Peridot. Lapis befriends Steven through being “Beach Summer Fun Buddies” while she’s in the mirror and continues to show a desire to spend time with him in Same Old World and Alone at Sea. She definitely shows a strong desire to spend time with Peridot, given that she helps her grow a garden, gets into her favorite show, creates art with her, spends a day pretending to be the Crystal Gems with her, does whatever it is they were doing in the toilet, watches the sun come up with her. All of these are Lapis showing Peridot affection, whether romantic or otherwise, through making a choice to spend time with her.

And then there’s the fact that Lapis is still recovering. People who have mental illness related to trauma often have a difficult time opening up to others, but it doesn’t mean they don’t care about them. Lapis is a trauma victim with depression. Her actions HAVE to be viewed through that lens. So if it seems like Lapis is less inclined to show obvious affection than Peridot, than maybe it has something to do with the fact that she’s been through so much and it’s affected her so much:

@dylanlovesthemets i almost listened but it kind of got away from me :D

“Move, Scott,” Derek grumbles, irritated and tired and protective.

Stiles is limp in Derek’s arms after being struck by the monster of the week. Scott had once again failed to account for Stiles’ fragility and left him without so much as a bat to defend himself.

Derek had seen it happen, seen the big scaly tail knock Stiles off his feet and into a tree. And he’s done what he could to hear if Stiles was hurt worse than a concussion and so far hasn’t been able to hear anything out of the ordinary. Heartbeat still in a normal rhythm, no bones creaking or scraping against each other as Derek rolled Stiles onto his back to check him over.

He’s got Stiles bridal style in his arms and is walking back to the cars now that the thing has been taken care of. But Scott is hovering.

“We should take him to see Deaton, or at least have my mom look at him,” Scott is saying, still trailing behind Derek, gripping at Derek’s shoulder and Derek bites back a growl of irritation. He just doesn’t want anyone in his space right now.

“I’m taking him to my apartment. His dad is working tomorrow and through the weekend and Stiles is going to need someone to wake him up every couple hours if he does have a concussion. A test which I am well equipped to do, Scott, since I am an EMT,” Derek impatiently explains as they come up to the cars all parked together in a clearing.

“I know, I know,” Scott is quick to answer but he’s still hesitant. Derek knows they trust each other but apparently that trust doesn’t extend to trusting Derek with Stiles.

Once Stiles is laid comfortably, but still unconscious in the back of Derek’s Toyota he turns to face Scott’s worried face.

“He’s going to be fine and if he’s not, you’re the first person I call,” Derek says and it’s true. If Stiles wakes up in more pain than a concussion warrants or he stops breathing or something, Scott would be the first person Derek would contact…along with Melissa and John in the group text.

But the reassurance is enough for Scott who nods and steps away. Derek talks quickly to Isaac, Erica and Boyd, making sure they’re all still in one piece after the small tussle in the woods. But they’re fine and he gets an eye roll from Erica so they’re really okay if they’re able to sass their alpha at 3am.

Now he just has to get Stiles back to his apartment and make sure he wakes up in a reasonable amount of time.

Derek is pacing slowly in the apartment. He’s not overly anxious, Stiles has been awake since they got in and confirmed only a headache before swallowing some advil and going back to sleep. Derek is still concerned there might be other aches and pains that Stiles is waving off that should be addressed.

For now, he’s on concussion watch though so he’s trying to keep himself awake for the next hour until it’s time to wake Stiles again. He’d sleep himself but the couch isn’t appealing tonight and he knows when he falls asleep it’s going to be hellish to drag himself out of it. He’d rather get another check in with Stiles before he loses consciousness for the next few hours.

The pacing is to keep his mind focused on something, one foot in front of the other, eight steps, turn, eight again. He can hear Stiles’ steady, shallow, sleeping breathing as he does and he thinks he’s pretty calm despite the circumstances. He’s more surprised that he’s surprised than actually startled when the door opens and Stiles is standing there, leaning against the door jam. His eyes are droopy but Derek can still hear his heart beating exactly how it’s supposed to.

“You look pretty hot in plaid,” Stiles says, his clear voice showing that despite his sleepy expression, he’s completely alert.

Derek looks down at his pajama pants before looking up at Stiles with a soft smile.

“You’ve said that before,” Derek replies, tracing his own steps as he walks over towards where Stiles is wavering on his feet now that he’s no longer leaning against the door frame.

He settles his hands on Stiles’ warm waist and relishes the small smile he gets at the welcome touch.

“It’s worth repeating,” Stiles says and tilts his head back, Derek is all too happy to oblige and press a quick dry kiss on his lips.

This thing between them is new, not so new that Derek questions the kiss but it is still something they’ve kept just between them. And it’s something they haven’t taken much further than kissing. Derek had been set and ready to tell Stiles he needed to wait before things got physical in their relationship. But Stiles had been the one who put limits on things.

The pack doesn’t know. And Scott doesn’t know. But the Sheriff knows and that’s enough for them right now. It’s why Derek was so determined to get Stiles to his apartment. The sheriff really will be at work for the better part of the next few days and they both would want someone with Stiles while he’s concussed. The fact that Derek has his EMT license now only furthered the Sheriff’s approval of him dating his son. He’s been doing more to get his life together, to be a contributing member of society.

“How are you feeling,” Derek asks quietly and pushes Stiles’ hair off his face gently.

“Like I got my head smashed into the ground,” he murmurs as his eyes close again and he leans into Derek’s chest.

“Thanks for bringing me here,” he says into Derek’s chest and Derek brings his arms up to rub Stiles’ back comfortingly.

“Of course,” Derek says gently and starts to walk them back into the bedroom.

“Don’t know if I’ve said this but, I feel safe here. With you. Your space. You make me feel safe, Der,” Stiles says softly and Derek tries to keep from letting the excitement those words incited from leaking out.

“I-“ Derek clears the emotion from his throat, “I’m really happy to hear that Stiles. How are you doing for painkillers? Do you need me to get more advil? More pain drain?” Derek offers but Stiles shakes his head.

“No, just you. Come lay down with me?” he requests as he crawls into the bed with Derek holding the covers up for him to settle beneath them.

Those sleepy eyes, the soft fluffy hair and the circumstances have Derek capitulating without much resistance.

“Let me just grab you some water and I’ll be right back,” Derek explains as he tucks the covers around Stiles.

Stiles nods into his pillow and Derek dashes quickly back to the outer rooms. He checks the door again, fills up a large glass with water and snags the bottle of Advil – just in case. He makes quick work of putting both down on the nightstand next to Stiles. He crosses to the other side of the queen size bed and gently lifts the covers, stealing beneath and wrapping Stiles close in his arms.

After a few minutes of slow steady breathing Stiles snuffles into Derek’s chest.

“Thanks, Der,” he mumbles and Derek’s arms squeeze gently in a closer embrace.

“Anytime,” he says and is completely unsurprised that he means it. That he means something more, something they haven’t said to each other yet. But, Derek thinks, maybe they say it in other ways.

Do you think Derek ever remembers the Stiles that he first met, the loud mouthed, cheerful, quirky, smirking, always moving, always curious Stiles, basically the definition of ALIVE, and he knows Stiles has been through a lot even before that but it never crushed his spirit completely.

Do you think he looks at the Stiles after the nogitsune and everything else he’s had to go through, seeing right in front of him how much quieter Stiles is, how he might flinch at surprise noises or contact, how he doesn’t strive to know everything about anything anymore, how he keeps his head low and approaches things in a more calculating way, a tired way, rather than wholeheartedly.

Do you think he sees the tight lipped smile and the dark eyes and thinks to himself how he should have been more present, how he should’ve been able to do something, ANYTHING, to stop this from happening. Because it happened to himself, he should know how it goes by now, he should’ve seen the signs, he should’ve dared to believe the nagging voice in the back of his head and should’ve stepped forward when he saw that no one else would. But no, he had let himself believe in his self-pity, that Stiles, someone so great could never fall, that he could never experience something like Derek because he was too strong and too precious and too amazing, that he could never need someone like Derek when he has so many people around him.

Do you think he blames himself for not realizing sooner that they are both just people, that he is not some monster who attracts and deserves all the worst for just existing, that what happened to him could happen to anyone, and that Stiles is not an actual angel, who is immune to everything (even if he was Derek’s guardian angel).

Do you think Derek’s heart breaks over and over again every time Stiles half heartedly jokes that they’re all just broken now and that Derek isn’t alone.

Do you think he sees the plea in Stiles’ eyes that he doesn’t dare speak, the way Stiles had seen it in his before he had even known what he wanted, a touch, a hug, unconditional trust, but that he doesn’t know what to do because he still doesn’t trust himself, and all he wants to do is fall to his knees and tell Stiles he’s sorry for letting things go this way, and he knows that it’s pathetic and he’s just being his self-deprecating self again, and that it’s not helping anyone - it never has - but he doesn’t know what to do, all he knows is what Stiles had done for him and he knows he can’t be as great as Stiles, he can’t.

Do you think he tries anyway because he would give his heart and his soul, or what’s left of it anyway (sometimes he doesn’t believe there’s anything left at all but considering he’s alive, and considering the way something beats hard in his chest when Stiles’ eyes meet his there must be SOMETHING there) no matter how small and shattered- he’d give it all for Stiles. And he can’t rewind time and he can’t fix him, and Stiles deserves so much more than his shattered pieces, and one day surely, Stiles will find someone better, someone who serves as a cooling balsam to the pain within, and that thought makes his throat close up and his chest burn and it almost makes him turn away from Stiles because he’s been taught in the past not to give anything if there’s a risk he’ll get burnt- but he does it anyway, because this is Stiles and if he’s not getting what he needs from anyone else, if by chance he’s not letting anyone else in for the moment, if Derek knows where the cracks are and how to warm them, then he’ll be there. And he might not be enough but at least he’s something and maybe, just maybe he can serve some kind of purpose, whichever it may be, to preserve that last part of Stiles that’s hidden behind the cold exterior, maybe he’ll be just enough to help Stiles survive until his life pieces itself back together again and Stiles is back on his own two feet.

Do you think he takes Stiles’ hand, silently because he was never good with words, and because he remembers that most of the time Stiles had comforted him by touch alone, small gestures, rather than his wide vocabulary of words, and that he’s surprised when Stiles isn’t.

Do you think that the tears that form in Stiles’ eyes at the contact take all of the sorrys from Derek’s lips because he loses his breath when Stiles gives his hand a gentle squeeze and sniffles, smiling ever so slightly, not strong enough for an honest full fledged smile, because it would be a lie if he did, but this one is real and it’s the most beautiful thing Derek has ever seen because it means he was right, Stiles is still in there and he might know the one or other thing about getting him out.

Do you think they’re still overly careful around each other and about digging too deep, they’re cautious to protect each other, and they might seem to bicker and argue harshly on the outside about trivial things, but when it comes to words with depth they’re both quiet and calm, and Derek sticks to his silent gestures until they start losing their power.

Do you think the time he sets a hand on Stiles’ back and Stiles pulls away, fear makes his chest tight that he’s reached his limit and he’s not enough anymore, that he’s got nothing more left to give and that this is the point where he has to let Stiles go to find someone better, someone worthy, who will put that real, honest, full fledged, ear to ear grin on Stiles’ face in the most vulnerable of moments.

Do you think Derek remembers that time, where Stiles broke through all his walls and looked straight into his soul with just one word, a seemingly irrelevant word in an irrelevant conversation that had nothing to do with either of them, really, except for fighting off a threat with a paralyzing tail.

Do you think he remembers how Stiles gave everything back then, prior to that word, he used all the energy he had left in him to keep both their heads over water and that he would’ve died to try and save them both, and Derek had found a way to dismiss it, thinking Stiles is the kind of person who would sacrifice himself for anyone, kind of like himself except that Derek did it because he thought he deserves to die much more than anyone else and Stiles probably did it because he thinks no one deserves to die unless they’re trying to kill someone else.

Do you think he takes a step forward to chase the step Stiles took away and tells him simply “you’re not alone”, and it’s three words to Stiles’ one but it’s the best he’s got and he always knew his best is not even close to Stiles’, and he knows he’s got to try everything, give it everything he’s left in him all the way to the end, because Stiles’ would do the same for him if he let him, and he has to take the chance just in case Stiles lets him to the same.

Do you think Derek keeps on talking, thinking about the way he likes hearing Stiles’ voice when he’s down, and talking might not come easy to him but it gets easier when he sees Stiles is listening and his shoulders slump as if he’s finally letting some of the weight of his walls fall.

Do you think Derek envelopes Stiles tightly, not trying to prevent it when he breaks and starts sobbing into his chest, but holding him together so that he doesn’t feel shattered and scattered all over the place when the tears slowly cease, and it hurts, seeing Stiles like this, hearing the sobs that wrenched from him, and maybe it’s such a punch to the gut that Derek tears up himself, but this time he has to be there for Stiles so he keeps talking, making sure Stiles has something to focus on beside the sounds of his sobs.

Do you think that maybe when they both quiet down, exhausted, and Derek sees how reluctant Stiles is to leave his side just for a shower, even if he can’t look Derek in the eyes at the moment, and how they somehow drift back to each other when they lie down, how Stiles grasps onto his shirt tightly when Derek brings his arms back around him, that maybe Derek starts to think maybe there was a reason they kept getting pulled back to each other, maybe there’s a reason they can see past each other’s defenses and see more in each other than either would ever dare to admit, maybe, just maybe, he can be enough for Stiles, the way a scrawny, pale but dotted with moles, sarcastic 147 pounds of skin and bones teenager simply believing in him was enough or him years ago.

slight Voltron spoilers

It is very, very interesting to me that Keith talks about Shiro the way that he does. Not necessarily in a ship type way, but also the ramifications that that has for Keith’s character as a whole.

Because Shiro is indisputably and unarguably Keith’s rock. And if you are someone who suffers from some type of anxiety and depression, your rock is something you depend on utterly to help you keep things together. Your rock is the one you turn to when your world is falling apart; and if they are taken away from you, your world falls apart without them.

It’s funny, because to me, Keith is definitely a character that at the very least has some severe anxiety, especially socially. I know that fandom doesn’t really talk about it much, but it’s true. Some aspects that have lead me to think so are:

  • The way that he generally separates (protects) himself from other people through his body language, especially at first.
  • The way that he tends to try to be near Shiro, who is the only person we see him really allowing himself to rely on.
  • The way that he tries to pick up his social cues from Shiro.
  • The way that he isn’t typically rude (unless falling apart), but also doesn’t typically tend to add to the conversation unless he has something important to say when meeting new people.
  • The way that there are times when he still has a tendency to self isolate, even from the team. (Such as by standing/sitting away from them and sometimes preferring to be alone rather than with the others.)
  • The way that he has a very hard time trusting that other people like or care about him.

The last two are especially important, because I think they are at the heart of Keith’s character. And as someone with severe social anxiety, I recognize them as things I do often.

Here’s the thing: people will say that Keith trying to break away from the team or acting like no one but Shiro cares is selfish. That he cares only about what happens to himself.

Here’s what I feel is the truth: at least a part of Keith genuinely believes that, besides Shiro, the rest of the team won’t care. He doesn’t truly feel that they care about him, because up until Shiro Keith’s life has been a series of people leaving or not caring about him. He never knew his mother. His father is gone. He probably never had a supportive foster family, and canon indicates there was none that actually treated him like he was their family. The Garrison just throws him away like trash because he doesn’t handle Shiro’s disappearance well. Even with Voltron, his relationship with Lance isn’t the best at first.

So Keith definitely has reason to have issues when it comes to trusting that people are going to care enough to want him around. Hell, being in the foster care system alone can give you those types of issues. And as someone with severe social anxiety, I can tell you a fact: people can tell me that they care about me a thousand times over and I will have a hard time believing it. Not because I don’t trust those people, or because I think that they are dishonest. Not because I don’t care about those people, because I genuinely do. But because I don’t trust their ability to care about myself. Because I don’t think I deserve for them to care about me, and because people have left me before.

I think that Keith is the same way. He cares about this team deeply, perhaps even loves them. But he can’t really see how they care about him because

A. Part of him thinks that he doesn’t deserve to be cared about, especially by people that he respects.

B. Believing that they care, and then later finding out that they don’t care, or don’t care about him as much as he would like them to is terrifying to him.

C. It is therefore likely much easier for him to care about someone with no expectations, then expecting them to care and being gutted when/if they don’t.

D. It is probably very hard for him to believe that he can have more people than Shiro care about him; he doubtlessly feels very lucky to have gotten Shiro’s affection, and asking for more may seem like an impossible dream to him.

None of these are particularly the team’s fault, but are Keith’s own insecurities. Insecurities that are going to cause him to react in ways that may seem ‘selfish’ or rude sometimes. Insecurities that are going to cause him to do things like considering leaving the team until Shiro points out they need him for Voltron. Insecurities that are going to mean that he will lash out when thinking that he’s lost the only person who will ever care enough to try to find him if he is lost.

At the end of the day, Keith is just a broken boy who is doing the best that he can.

Think of that a bit before you call him 'selfish’ for his reaction.

SEND ME A SHIP AND I’LL TELL YOU…

who is more likely to hurt the other?

ummmm painful first question wow?? Definitely.. neither… wtf. I think emotionally Andrew might be more likely to be just callous enough that Neil takes it to heart, but it would be like,, almost impossible bc they understand each other so well. Maybe when Neil is really baring his soul and andrew is still walking that indifferent line. Maybe when andrew graduates and neil forgets andrew’s brand of emotional distance bc there’s REAL distance to contend with, you feel

who is emotionally stronger?

Andrew m8

Neil had to be emotionally strong for so long, and he doesn’t have to be anymore. But ANDREW….. his emotions are out of order like he’s built a safe around himself and neil just happens to have the access code

who is physically stronger?

AndreW this isn’t even a debate Neil is lithe and wiry and andrew can pick him up with one hand. Like if you don’t think Andrew’s biceps are shredding his t-shirts we didn’t read the same book ://

who is more likely to break a bone?

ur joking

Neil breaks his bones walking down the stairs my guy. That little bastard never outgrows being a hazard. Also he’s an aggressor in Exy, my boy has 2% regard for his own wellbeing, ball is life, etc. I can’t in my life imagine smooth and cold as steel Andrew breaking anything that isn’t someone else’s

who knows best what to say to upset the other?

Okay andrew has that cultivated distance but neil is….. a machine. Remember when he kept provoking andrew about his assault bc he wanted a response out of him?? Like,, yeah. Neil knows how to take out the one brick that will topple a person. He’s sharp and scathing and aware of people’s weakness (Andrew’s more than anyone’s)

who is most likely to apologize first after an argument?

Also Neil man he drops a bomb and walks away but he starts to come back more and more. He starts to realize that arguments =/= break ups, and apologies =/= weakness. He starts fights and he fuckin finishes them. He loves andrew more than he loves the upper hand

who treats who’s wounds more often?

>_> andrew is down here on the side of the court dabbing disinfectant on neil’s gashes once a WEEK. (Andrew? won’t let anyone else touch neil??)

who is in constant need of comfort?

Both. They have a lifetime of hurt that needs untangling and andrew’s in there cutting through neil’s with scissors, neil’s talking until andrew forgets his

It’s symbiotic - their relationship is built on comfort, you know? it thrives on it

who gets more jealous?

I think Andrew because Neil doesn’t….. know jealousy. Like he hasn’t met her. Someone could be straight up grabbing Andrew’s ass and Neil would be like huh. friendship is evolving so fast. Andrew is very quietly furiously jealous and it’s sort of? all the time? Like he got in so deep so fast that he’s jealous of the foxes, and people at the bar, and he’s jealous of like.. exy

who’s most likely to walk out on the other?

Like.. for good? wtf neither NEXt

who will propose?

Well ;)) I’ve ;)) written this ;)))) here

spoilers it’s andrew for practical purposes because romance is a foreign land that they will only visit if someone’s life hangs in the balance

who has the most difficult parents?

LMAO

who initiates hand-holding when they’re out in public?

I think andrew makes a grab for neil’s hand if he’s stressed about wherever they are? LIke contact is actually a big part of the way andrew protects. But I think Neil obsesses over andrew’s hands and he’ll try it, and andrew usually doesn’t care enough to pull away. They both feel like 5% safer linked like that. Their armbands brush. It’s gay

who comes up for the other all the time?

Like in conversation??? andrew. neil can’t shut up, next

who hogs the blankets?

Andrew dude he’s contrary catch him in all black wearing knives huddled in a blanket fort with a pint of ben and jerry’s. Neil is a very still sleeper he doesn’t move like.. at all. Andrew’s a restless & light sleeper, and he’ll take advantage of any comfort he can get

who gets more sad?

hi they’re always sad… sorry about it…. anyway

who is better at cheering the other up?

Andrew’s better because he doesn’t like. try. Not in any obvious, quantifiable way, anyway. He gives neil space when he needs it and coddles him when he needs it. He’s a hand on the back of his neck. He’s a force of nature that Neil gets so caught up in that he forgets, for a second, that he’s living on borrowed time

who’s the one that playfully slaps the other all the time after they make silly jokes?

lmao

who is more streetwise?

I gotta say neil bc I think he’s got like a catalogue of personas and experiences inside him. Like I think he could successfully blend into a lot of situations, that’s straight up what kept him alive

who is more wise?

Andrew is brilliant tbh he’s got that eidetic memory and that understated intensity towards understanding things like I don’t think there’s a question you could ask that would stump him

who’s the shyest?

define shy like neither of them they’re unrepentant bastards who’ll tell you exactly what they think of you. BUT i mean. Neil is the slowest moving glacier of emotional availability I’ve ever seen so like if you wanna call that shy then def him

who boasts about the other more?

Again…. neil can’t shut the fuck up….. the amount of times he mouths off about having the best goalie in the world on their team in interviews,, wymack is grey

like actually neil is gobsmacked by andrew and he EXPECTS that everyone else be too

who sits on who’s lap?

neil sits on andrew’s bye he loves to be held up

Svt reacting to their gf coming home scared

anon asked: can i request svt’s reaction to their girlfriend coming home scared because someone was following her?

Seungcheol- You’d think Seungcheol is a big softie, but damn after you come home scared someone’s following you, Seungcheol can get hella scary. Because no one messes with you. Not if he can help it. He’ll get really angry knowing you were scared out of your mind. He’ll probably wrap you up in his arms, breathing quickly and check to makes sure you’re ok and carry you in his arms over to the couch and make you sit down and wait while he goes out to see if whoever it was is still around. You can try to stop him by saying you’ll talk to the police but he’ll go out looking anyway. And If he catches the punk, they’re going to get hell tonight.

“Stay here. Nothing is going to happen to you because I’m right here. And they’re going to never see the light of day again if they mess with you.”

Jeonghan- Whereas Seungcheol can get scary while trying to protect you, Jeonghan would be a different kind of scary, a silent scary. He’d immediately hug you and tell you that whoever they are they’re not going to lay a finger on you and if they do, they’re losing their fingers. He’ll wrap you up in a sweater and he’ll drive with you to the police station so you can file a report. But you can tell from his stance, with his arm folded and his shoulders leveled that if it weren’t for insuring your upmost safety, he too would have gone out searching for whoever it was. And whoever it was would have regretted simply laying eyes on you that day.

“We have to rely on the system because if we didn’t I might end up seriously maiming whoever it was that scared you today and I don’t think you’d like that very much.”

Joshua- Joshua wouldn’t have the thought of being pissed at whoever it was. He’d be completely focused on making sure you were ok and that you knew you were safe now and that as long as you’re with him, nothing will happen to you. He’ll insist on going to the police station in the morning but in the meantime he’d hold you in his arms and run his fingers through your hair and say “it’s ok, you’re ok, you’re safe now”. He’d hold you for a long time rocking back and forth until you stop shaking from fear and the cold pit in your stomach goes away. He’d get you warm tea and blankets and make sure all the windows and doors were locked and shut tight before returning to your side to hold you in his chest and kiss your forehead reassuringly.

“Nothing else matters except that you’re safe. As long as you’re safe and you’re here, nothing else matters. Nothing will happen to you, not when I’m here.”

Jun- You’re practically crying when you frantically shut the door behind you. Jun takes one look at the terrified expression on your face and is about to lose his shit because when it comes to you no one, NO ONE, messes with you. After hearing what happened to get you so rattled up, he’ll quickly grab his coat and wrap it around you and pull you into the car to drive down to the police station. He’d be holding your hand the whole way, one hand around the steering wheel, his knuckles turning white from how tightly he was gripping the wheel. He might ask you for some details like physical descriptions and what you were doing today while he gritted his teeth and stared dead ahead. But if he hears your voice breaking, trying to recall specifics he would stop the car.

“Whoever they were, they won’t dare mess with you ever again. Because if they do, they’re not going to be able to walk right ever again.”

Soonyoung- Soonyoung would put up a front, trying to show you his best side as soon as he found out what happened. He’d hug you and shower you with kisses while holding you in his arms, but he’d be hella protective. He won’t be able to stop thinking about what could have happened if you never came home and he’d be going crazy trying to hide the overwhelming feeling of terror that came with the idea of never seeing you again. He wouldn’t let you go for a long time, even after you both went to file the police report, he would insist on going everywhere with you even if it was just to the grocery store. You could be cooking or cleaning or do anything and you can feel Soonyoung watching you and trying his best to make you feel safe.

“I’m never letting you out of my sight again, I’m literally going to learn how to sleep with my eyes open in order to make sure you never have to be scared ever again.”

Wonwoo- He’ll be the one in Svt that acts the most calm on the outside. He won’t say much but he’ll take your hand and wrap you in his arms and like Joshua, makes sure you’re ok first. You’re the number one priority. He’ll wrap you up in blankets and makes sure you eat something and just feel safe and warm. He won’t let you out of his sight too and insists that you sleep in the living room with the lights on, away from any entrances or windows. He might seem calm, serious, collected and smart about the whole situation, making a police report after you fall asleep so as not to worry you, but he’ll be so scared on the inside, scared that something could have happened to you. He wouldn’t get any sleep that night because of it.

“Things were scary today, but trust me, that’s never going to happen again. I won’t let someone scare you like that ever again. You’re going to be ok.”

Jihoon- Damn, Jihoon may seem cute, but like Seungcheol, he can get pretty scary when it comes to you and anyone who messes with you must have a death wish. He’d also be a little bit paranoid and insist that the two of you stay at a hotel or a friend or family’s house in case whoever was following you followed you home. Jihoon would hold onto you tight in the car all the way to the temporary place you two were staying at. After making sure you feel safe and are comfortable, he’d take off to file the police report and won’t get any sleep, insisting they check security camera footage and post guards around your house until the perpetrator is caught and dealt with.

“You don’t have to even think about this anymore. Don’t be afraid and don’t be scared. Whoever they were, they chose the wrong people to mess with. I’m going to catch them and once I do, I’m not going to have any mercy.”

Seokmin- Seokmin would be trying really hard to make sure that you felt safe again. The look of terror on your face was enough to want to break his heart and he, like Soonyoung, would be more than a little overprotective. He’d hold onto you and ask if there was anything he could do to make you feel safer, even if you suggest camping in the living room with the lights on. He’d drag all the blankets and pillows to the middle of the carpet and help you get settled in for the night. Secretly he’d be terrified too, he doesn’t know exactly what could have happened to you. He’ll pester you with questions, but if you start getting teary-eyed at the thought of those night’s events he’d apologize and hold you tighter until you fell asleep in his arms.

“I should have been there with you today. If I had been there, this wouldn’t have happened. I’m not going to let this happen ever again, I promise to be by your side from now on until we catch whoever it was.”

Mingyu- Mingyu wouldn’t know exactly what to do, he’d be a nervous mess. He wants to comfort you, but also find out whoever it was and make sure they’re punished, he wants to do a million things at once and race around until his heart stops hurting from seeing the scared look on your face. He’d probably settle on going to the police station in the morning and making sure all the doors are locked and that the neighbors know there might be someone lurking around. Then he’d cook a bunch of food, all of it for you, even if you didn’t have the appetite because he needs to keep himself busy or he might chase after whoever scared you.

“We have so much food now I don’t even know how on earth we’re going to be able to finish it. But at least you’re safe and that’s all that matters to me. Should I make dessert?”

Minghao- Would actually run into you and hold him in your arms before even telling him what happened and once you do tell him, be prepared for a scary Minghao. He’d look coldly past you towards the door as if willing whoever it was that scared you to reveal themselves to him. He’d drive you to the police station but probably would get too frustrated in the fact that there isn’t much they can do. He might go around on a rampage yelling about how the person he cares most about almost got hurt and how the police aren’t doing anything. He’d calm down if you talked to him and reassure him you’re fine, but he’s not ok. He’d apologize for his behavior and sit down next to you, but you’re not leaving his sight, he’ll pull you onto his lap and just hold you.

“The thought of someone else looking at you, following you, that’s not ok. It’s not going to happen again. And if it does, they’re done for.”

Seungkwan- Seungkwan would be shook. He’d be puffing out his chest and asking who the ef would try to mess with his gf and try to jokingly reassure you that he can win any fight with whoever it was. He’d be hella scared on the inside though. You’re his everything and to think someone made you feel scared, he wasn’t ready for how much it hurt him knowing he wasn’t there to protect you. He’d hold your hand and reassure you that everything will be ok since the two of you were together and therefore are an unstoppable force. Then he’d drag you to the police station immediately to file a report while refusing to let go of your hand even once.

“Whenever I’m not holding your hand, bad things tend to happen. So from now on, your hand is mine, sorry, I’m not letting go ever again. That way nothing bad ever happens again.”

Hansol- He’d put up a tough guy front to try to reassure you, but secretly he’s gritting his teeth and trying really hard not to run outside and hunt down whoever it is too. Like Joshua though, he’d put you as his first priority, making sure you’re no longer scared and that you know you’re safe. He might even insist you continue with whatever evening plans you both had wanted to do at home and insist you continue with the normal everyday activities. It’s not about ignoring the problem, no he’ll file a report with the police later, but right now he just never wants you to feel like you’re in danger ever again. He’ll do everything to distract you and comfort you and hold onto you, giving you all the love in the world.

“Don’t bring it up anymore, you don’t have to worry about it. It’s over and if it happens again, whoever it is, will be over. I believe in the police. All we need to do is stay together.”

Chan- He might be the youngest, but when it comes to you, there’s no doubt in his whole mind that he could easily take on whoever it was, because no one should ever dare to scare you like that. Not you. Chan would be smart and level-headed about the whole situation, maybe the most calm overall. Because he’s confident nothing like that would ever happen again because from now on he’s not going to leave your side without something to defend you. Whether that be taking self-defense classes, pepper spray, whatever works. He might even arm you with some pointy keys just in case. Chan can be one scary maknae.

Can I do zens reaction to an mc who's pretty close to jumin? like maybe they knew each others before or maybe they just generally get along with each other? ((Zen and mc are in a relationship BTW)) thank you if you do!!

~Oh yeah, I’ve thought about this before! This is going to be long btw im sorry

[Zen

  • At first, he hadn’t really noticed how close you were with Jumin
  • One day he came home and heard you on the phone with someone
    • “Zen is home…yes, I better go as well. You too, bye!”
  • Zen was super curious
    • “Who was that?”
  • He tried to not be over-protective…
    • “Jumin,” you admitted calmly as you placed the phone on the counter
  • Jumin…Han?
  • He felt a brief, sharp pain in his heart
  • But why?
  • He had no doubt in your faithfulness
  • After all, what could that trust fund kid…dry as dirt ever do to one-up him when it came to you ???
  • Still…he felt his chest tighten a bit at the thought of you two talking
  • You could see his slight wince and approached him without hesitation, running your hands gently along his shoulders and defined biceps
    • “We have known each other for a long time…” you spoke quietly before placing a quick kiss on his lips. “He is a dear friend..nothing more.”
  • ‘Of course it was nothing more,’ Zen thought
  • He felt the guilt wash over him
  • You had thought he could ever believe you would be unfaithful to him
  • Of course not…
  • He had full trust in you, he..
  • LOVED you
  • It was just…why him? As a friend?
  • It didn’t seem to fit
  • If you needed someone to talk to…why didn’t you call him?
  • Sure, his schedule was demanding…but he would make time for you, no matter what
  • If you ever needed…
  • He filled his lungs with air, releasing his deep breath through a smile
    • “Jagiya,” he whispered, “I know.”
  • As much as he disliked Jumin’s opinions and personality, it was not worth fighting over with the person he loved
  • In silence he remained
  • However, he did not hesitate to make it known to Jumin, how much he loved you
    • “I’m well aware of your relationship,” Jumin replied.
    • “You know what I mean you jer-….Jumin. Just…” Zen choked a bit on his words in the moment. “She’s…she is the most important person to me,” he clenched his fist and spoke boldly through the receiver.
    • “Again, I am well aware,” Jumin replied. “You two…you are an excellent match. I am very happy for you both.”
  • The sudden proclamation made Zen fall back a step or two
  • Did he really just say that?
    • “Thank you,” Zen finally spoke. “And I am glad she has a friend like you.”
  • As much as he might have hated to admit it, Jumin and you seemed to get along so well
    • “Would you both be interested in joining me for dinner one evening? A new restaurant opened in the area and it is supposed to be rather popular…”
  • Zen thought for a moment
  • It was nice of him to offer…
  • And it had been a while since he lived off of something other than your cooking or the disgusting food they brought on set for catering
    • “ I guess we wouldn’t mind that…” Zen finally admitted
    • “Great. I will have my assistant contact you with a time and date.”
  • Zen left the conversation feeling a bit shaky still
  • He would have to make sure he saved up enough money to pay for your meals and drinks
  • It wouldn’t be too much trouble for him, besides, you deserved to be treated to a nice meal you didn’t have to cook every once in a while
  • When the day finally arrived, Zen could barely keep his hands off of you in your formal dress
    • “Could we be even a bit late?” his lips traced the curve of your ear and he nipped lightly
    • “Stop, you’re terrible,” you laughed and pulled yourself away from him and into the car
  • Jumin stood when you both approached the table
  • He let Zen pull your chair for you, after making a motion himself to do just that and realizing that it was not proper
    • “Third glass of wine already?” you laughed at Jumin as he took a sip
    • “You know me too well,” Jumin smiled
  • Zen remained quiet at the table, watching you two interact as he grew increasingly self-conscious
    • “What do you prefer to drink?” Jumin turned to Zen
    • “I…doubt they would have it here,” Zen said nervously. “I normally drink beer not wine.”
    • “They have a wide variety of alcohols, actually. In fact, they provide many imported beers. If you don’t mind, I think I know something you would enjoy?”
  • Zen nodded hesitantly as Jumin ordered
    • “Chardonnay for the lady and your finest import for the gentleman,” he handed the menu to the waitress.
  • The conversation flowed smoothly from there on out
    • “This is actually really good,” Zen boasted after taking a few sips
    • “I’m glad you like it,” Jumin nodded and held his glass in the air for a cheers. “To the best of friendships,” he declared before the clink of glasses
  • All three of you smiled and gulped
  • Zen had so many questions
  • How did you meet? How long have you known each other? Did you ever…hook up?
  • You both were an open book
    • “Goodness, no!!” you both laughed, “we have never been romantic. We just…understand each other. It’s hard to explain. But the thought of being more than friends has never even been on the table. We are here to vent to each other and talk about…well…personal things. Things friends confide in each other. Nothing more,” you smiled
    • “Truthfully, I don’t know how you can handle this one,” Jumin laughed and gestured to you
    • “Hey! I’m not that bad!”
    • “You’re lucky you found someone like him to be there for you,” he smiled and looked to Zen
  • This made Zen fill with happiness and pride
  • Towards the end of the evening all three of you were laughing and swapping stories
  • Drinking and clinking glasses to each other at every refill
  • The check came and Zen reached for it automatically
    • “Let me take care of this,” Jumin snatched it from the table with lightening speed
    • “No way! I can take care of it,” Zen reached once more only to have it removed from his grasp once again
  • Jumin sighed
    • “I have no doubt you could, however, I am the one that invited you both. It is only proper. If it means that much to you, I will allow you to pay next time,” Jumin compromised
  • Zen nodded, taking him up on the offer
  • When it was finally time to head home you each said your goodbyes
  • Jumin gave you a swift hug, and shook Zen’s hand firmly before patting each others backs
  • On the ride home he loved the way you nuzzled into his chest, your cheeks red and warm with the buzz of alcohol he knew would be flowing through you
    • “This was a nice night,” you smiled warmly
  • Zen’s fingers traced your own hand, his free one running through your hair as you lay on him
    • “It was,” he smiled.
  • He never thought that an evening involving Jumin Han would be so pleasant, but it really was
  • And Zen would do anything for you
  • He actually looked forward to another night when you all could get together
  • Maybe at another restaurant? But which one? Or his place…well…Your place? He loved your cooking…surely Jumin would, too
  • Before he lost himself in thought he placed a soft and gentle kiss on your forehead
  • The streetlights flashed across your face as you made your way down the road, and all Zen could think about in this moment was how lucky he was
